Last
Quarter Moon on
Saturday, March 7th, 2010, at 10:42 AM EST.
On Saturday morning, the Last Quarter Moon is exact, when the Sun in Pisces
squares off with the Moon in Sagittarius. The Last Quarter Moon phase points to
some sort of crisis of consciousness. After basking in the awareness symbolized
by the full light of the Moon at the time of last week's Full Moon, we disperse
our
knowledge
and come to a point when we need to sort out what works for us--and what
doesn't--in preparation for next week's New Moon, when something new is born once
again. This is not the best time to start a major project, as the decreasing
light of the Moon symbolizes a descent into unconsciousness. It's time to begin
finishing up the details of that which was conceived at the last New Moon on
February 13th. What revelations did you have last week? What did they mean for you?
What can be done now?
This phase of the Moon occurred at 16 degrees and 57 minutes of Pisces and
Sagittarius, affecting people born with personal planets and points at
approximately 15 to 19 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius,
and Pisces) most significantly.

The Sun is in Pisces; Mercury
is in Aquarius until Monday, when it enters Pisces; Venus is in Pisces; Mars
is in Leo.
The Sun is in Pisces from February 18-March 20. With the Sun
in Pisces, we are guided by altruistic feelings. We are less outwardly
active, and more motivated by our instincts. A "what will be, will be"
attitude reigns, and we are guided by a sense of universal correlations.
Pisces rules empathy, selfless love, devotion, and wisdom. Its shadow side
rules self-pity, a feeling of being victimized by life, passivity, and
elusiveness.
Mercury is in Pisces from March 1-17.
When Mercury is in Pisces, our thinking processes become visual, intuitive,
and imaginative. We are more attuned to the world of emotion, and it colors
both our thoughts and our communication style. We guess well, express
ourselves with imagery, and make decisions intuitively.
Venus is in Aries from March 7-31. With Venus in Aries, love is
spontaneous and direct. The chase is very exciting to us under this fiery
influence. We are bold, fresh, and a little impatient when it comes to matters
of the heart. We don't look back with Aries energy. We are not interested in
saying sorry or dwelling on the past. It's a brand new day! It's time to make
things work
right now. Aries is known for a love of the chase and the conquest, but
Aries love can be longstanding as long as it remains relatively fresh. Aries is
blunt--there's no sugar-coating with Aries. This can sting, but rarely is Aries
energy mean or petty. Saying it like it is is important to Aries. Desires are
strong and expressed spontaneously, enthusiastically, and directly. Aries
prefers to seduce rather than be seduced, to chase rather than be chased.
Mars is in Leo for an extended stay from October 16, 2009
to June
7, 2010. In Leo, Mars is proud, self-confident, and grand. We
are spirited and have grand goals. We go after what we want in a direct,
self-assured manner, desiring dramatic results. We prefer not to worry about
details, and take the least complicated route to our goals. The sex drive is
strong, and passion for life is high.
Jupiter entered Pisces on January 17th, and will stay in the
sign until June 6, 2010. Read more about Jupiter's transit through
Pisces

Mars is Retrograde from December 20, 2009 to March 10, 2010. Mars stations
and turns direct on March 10th.

Mars is in its shadow from October 17th, 2009; and
then until May 17th, 2010.
When Mars is in its retrograde cycle, we are forced
to re-assess our current projects, our approach to getting what we want, and our
desire nature. Rather than directly asserting our desires, we tend towards
introspection. While Mars in direct motion is direct, straightforward,
assertive, and aggressive, with Mars in retrograde motion, Mars energy is
essentially turned inward--it's internalized, intensified, personalized, and
perhaps pressurized. We can be hesitant about taking action, second-guessing our
instincts or our natural impulses rather than acting upon them. The way we react
to situations under normal conditions doesn't necessarily work for us now, or we
don't exactly trust it.
When anger is internalized, there can be some rather negative byproducts,
such as tension, resentment, depression, apathy, and even some paranoia. On the
other hand, it can also be personalized and made more intimate. The goal of a
Mars retrograde period is not, however, to simply sit on our impulses or to
squelch our enthusiasm. Rather, it's to better understand our impulses, our
survival instincts, our anger, our sexuality, our inner courage, and the ways we
go about getting what we want from life. The cosmos are asking us to look before
we leap rather than throw ourselves into action, just for the time being.
In many ways, I think of Mars retrograde periods as similar to Mars transits
through the twelfth house. It's a time when hesitating is more likely than
throwing ourselves into new endeavors. We might require more rest than usual.
Some of us are more accident-prone or illness-prone, almost as if the cosmos are
forcing us to slow down if we haven't listened to our natural impulses to take a
break. It's time for regrouping, and this is important on both physical and
emotional levels.
With Mars retrograde in the usually assertive and direct sign of
Leo, the tendency to internalize and hesitate might feel especially unnatural. Rather than direct and healthy expressions or outlets for
frustrations, we might resort to sneaky, indirect, or obtuse methods of going
after what we want. If we push ahead impulsively, we run into problems, obstacles, and frustrations...continued
here: Mars Retrograde.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in
Aries from March 7-31. With Venus in Aries, love is spontaneous and direct.
The chase is very exciting to us under this fiery influence. We are bold, fresh,
and a little impatient when it comes to matters of the heart. We don't look back
with Aries energy. We are not interested in saying sorry or dwelling on the
past. It's a brand new day! It's time to make things work right now. Aries is
known for a love of the chase and the conquest, but Aries love can be
longstanding as long as it remains relatively fresh. Aries is blunt--there's no
sugar-coating with Aries. This can sting, but rarely is Aries energy mean or
petty. Saying it like it is is important to Aries. Desires are strong and
expressed spontaneously, enthusiastically, and directly. Aries prefers to seduce
rather than be seduced, to chase rather than be chased.
This week: On Sunday, Venus, newly in the sign of fiery Aries,
harmonizes with a near-stationed Mars. Mars turns direct on Wednesday after
approximately two and a half months of retrograde motion. This Venus-Mars trine
is not going to function as explicitly as it would if Mars were direct (and if
Venus wasn't aligned with Saturn in declination), but does offer us the chance
to explore our relationships in a positive light. Responsibilities to one
another are definite now, yet we can enjoy one another's company and perhaps
some playful interaction. Venus opposes Saturn on Monday and Tuesday and then
squares Pluto on Thursday, introducing some challenging energy into our
interactions. Power plays, feeling left out or unappreciated, struggling with
whether or not a lover is playing to our "script", and some distancing are
likely for the time being.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming
Week:
Venus in Aries March 7-31. Romance at the drop of a
hat is part and parcel of the cycle you have just begun. Winning the hearts
of others can be a challenge you're eager to accept - and the thrill of the
chase might be most of the fun. Is it the pursuit of happiness - or the
happiness of pursuit?
Venus parallel Uranus March 4-6. We embrace all that is new, unusual, and
out-of-the-ordinary with regards to romantic involvements. We lose our fear of taking risks at this time. We are ready to experiment, but not
necessarily ready to
commit. Peculiar, sudden, or avant garde attractions. This is an exciting but
unstable energy. Friendship in love
relationships becomes more important.
Venus contra-parallel Saturn March 6-8. We may express our affection sparingly,
but also responsibly and in practical ways.
Relationships begun under this influence often feel burdensome over time, but
they may last longer than most. Some pulling back can occur in relationships
now, as we are more self-conscious and cautious with our affections.
Venus trine Mars March 7. Sexual attraction, romantic activities, and fertility
are favored. This is one of the best times to enhance a relationship. Excellent
time for starting a new relationship, all things equal.
Venus opposition Saturn March 8-9. We keep others at arm's length, unsure of
whether we are loved or not. This is a somewhat inhibiting influence when it
appears that people value utility over true love. An element of seriousness
permeates our love relationships. We may feel criticized and inhibited, unloved
and unsatisfied, but our worst enemies may be ourselves and our own fears of
getting close to others.
Venus square Pluto March 11. Intense passions, but there's a hidden agenda.
Jealousy and possessiveness are high, in direct proportion to fear of losing
partnership. Avoid starting a new relationship at this time, because it can be
characterized by these energies.
Venus semi-square Neptune March 16-17. Romantic confusion as well
as relationship ups and downs. Self-deceptions may come to light now.
Venus semi-square Chiron March 17-18. Love cannot be forced. This is not a
commitment-friendly transit, as we may feel alienated for no apparent reason and
unwilling to give of ourselves.
The Moon & Timing
The
Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its
last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During Void of
Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to
begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is
indicated here, and is indicative of the "outcome" of the matter (whether
that is a new project begun before the void period, or the answer to a
question in Horary Astrology). Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you
were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in
Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to
any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not
forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The
Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary
Astrology.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Monday, March 8th, from
6:15 AM EST, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to
Nepune), until the Moon enters Capricorn at 12:15 PM EST.
VOC Moon on Wednesday, March 10th, from
5:00 PM EST, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to
Uranus), until the Moon enters Aquarius the next day, Thursday, March 11th, at
12:44 AM EST.
VOC Moon on Saturday, March 13th, from 7:58 AM EST, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a
conjunction to Neptune), until the Moon enters Pisces at
1:45 PM EST.
Void of Course Moon Table for March 2010:

Timing with the Moon - Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
The Moon is waning this week--a period that is generally considered
unfavorable
for new beginnings, with some exceptions. (See
Best Time to Start a
Business for more details).
A window of opportunity occurs this week from Monday, March 8th, at
approximately 11:30 PM EST, until Wednesday, March 10th, at approximately 4:50
PM EST, while the Moon is in Capricorn. Note that Mars is stationary direct on
March 10th, Venus opposes Saturn, and the Moon is waning, and motivations are
unclear--making it a less than ideal window for new endeavors.

The Astrology of 2010 - Overview
Note: Times given ET.
This Week's Calendar

Venus trine Mars. Romantic activity, sexual attraction, creative action and
self-expression in business and the arts, active participation in social
functions, and creative initiative are favored under this influence. It's easy
to act upon our social and romantic needs successfully.

Mercury conjunct Jupiter. We can visualize in broader terms and see the "big
picture" now. Travel is favored, all things equal. We are optimistic, which can help us attract
positive circumstances. This is a good time to submit ideas, applications, and so
forth, all things equal. This is a time of thinking on a grand scale and
long-range planning. Details and mundane affairs do not interest us as much
as the big picture does. We are prone to exaggerating the facts due to
enthusiasm. Expressing ourselves verbally comes easily, and public relations
and negotiations run especially smoothly. This is a time for making
long-range plans, seeing the big picture, and thinking about what is really
important to us in the long run.

Venus opposition Saturn. We keep others at arm's length, unsure of whether we
are loved or not. This is a somewhat inhibiting influence when it appears that
people value utility over true love. An element of seriousness permeates our
love relationships. We may feel criticized and inhibited, unloved and
unsatisfied, but our worst enemies may be ourselves and our own fears of getting
close to others. Not a good influence for financial endeavors. Burdens are
magnified.

Mercury sesquiquadrate Mars. Impulsive communications and hasty
decision-making. We can accomplish more if we are careful not to be too
hasty and forget details. "Haste makes waste".

Venus square Pluto. Intense passions, but there's a hidden agenda. Feelings
of jealousy
and possessiveness run high, in direct proportion to fear of losing
partnership. Avoid starting a new relationship at this time, because it can
be characterized by these energies. Social interactions may be intense or
could provoke intense feelings. Changes in financial status or relationships
may occur now. Emotions and issues in a close relationship that have been
brewing beneath the surface for quite awhile come to the surface at this
time, possibly in a very disruptive way. All of our relationships intensify
and we need to be aware of a tendency to act in a rather compulsive,
demanding way towards others. This is an "all or nothing" energy.
Manipulative behavior, fear of betrayal, and power struggles are possible.

What's In Store By the Stars - Daily Astrology Trends
March 7
Venus enters the first sign of the zodiac, Aries, this morning, and will
stay in this bold, assertive sign until March 31st. With Venus in Aries, love is
spontaneous and direct. The chase is very exciting to us. We are bold, fresh,
and a little impatient when it comes to matters of the heart. We don't look back
with Aries energy--Aries has little time for regrets.
Shortly after entering Aries,
Venus trines Mars. Mars is moving apparently slowly, nearing a station on
March 10th. Romantic activity, sexual attraction, creative action and
self-expression in business and the arts, active participation in social
functions, and creative initiative are favored under this influence. It's easy
to act upon our social and romantic needs successfully. Even so, there is an air
of heaviness involved with Venus contraparallel Saturn, which acts to remind us
of our responsibilities. Mercury conjuncts Jupiter this evening, and we can visualize in broader terms and see the "big
picture" now. We are optimistic, which can help us attract
positive circumstances.
The Moon is in forward-looking Sagittarius
all day.
March 8
The Moon is in adventure-seeking Sagittarius until 12:15 PM EST.
Bored with the mundane, anything that breaks the routine is
appealing now. This may be especially true in the hours surrounding the Moon's
square to Uranus early morning. Part of us is itching for change, and this could
be the reason why we are more likely to attract unusual circumstances now. The
Moon enters industrious Capricorn at 12:15 PM, and there is a shift of energy
towards more practical concerns. We are cautious and draw upon common sense when
making decisions. Flexibility is not a strong point just now, and we might want
to learn to relax and not try to keep control of every situation. Our careers
and objectives are in focus with the Moon in this practical, realistic sign.
Venus is approaching an opposition to Capricorn's ruler, Saturn, exact early
tomorrow, and there may be some tensions or distancing in our social lives
tonight.
A void of course Moon occurs from 6:15 AM EST, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a
sextile to Nepune), until the Moon enters Capricorn at 12:15 PM EST. March
9
Venus opposition Saturn early morning can mean we keep others at arm's length, unsure of whether we
are loved or not. This is a somewhat inhibiting influence when it appears that
people value utility over true love. An element of seriousness permeates our
love relationships. We may feel criticized and inhibited, unloved and
unsatisfied, but our worst enemies may be ourselves and our own fears of getting
close to others. This is a less than ideal influence for financial endeavors. Burdens
(financial and social) are
magnified. Tonight,
Mercury sesquiquadrate Mars can point to impulsive communications and hasty
decision-making. We can accomplish more if we are careful not to be too
hasty and forget details. "Haste makes waste" is an appropriate
phrase to keep in mind. The Moon is in responsible Capricorn all day.
March 10
Mars has been retrograde since December 20th, 2009, and today this fiery
planet is stationary direct. Mars energy hangs heavy in the air today and in the
next few days as Mars changes direction. Slowly but surely over the next few
weeks, we are likely to regain our enthusiasm, projects that have stalled move
forward, and we begin to feel more confident and assertive. The Moon is in
no-nonsense Capricorn all day, and our sense of
responsibility is stronger than usual. We aim for efficiency in most areas of
life now. Our view of life in general is realistic rather than dreamy under the
influence of a Capricorn Moon.
A void of course Moon occurs from 5:00 PM EST, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a
sextile to Uranus), until the Moon enters Aquarius tomorrow, Thursday, March
11th, at 12:44 AM EST. March 11
The Moon is in serious, practical Capricorn until 12:44 AM EST, when it enters
progressive Aquarius. Under the influence of an Aquarius Moon
most of the day, we have an emotional need for freedom and independence. We
thrive on intellectual stimulation, change, and unusual or unconventional
experiences. Venus squares Pluto midday, and we can experience intense passions, but there's a hidden agenda. Feelings
of jealousy
and possessiveness run high, in direct proportion to fear of losing
partnership. Social interactions may be intense or
could provoke intense feelings. Changes in financial status or relationships
may occur now. Manipulative behavior, fear of betrayal, and power struggles are possible. The Moon ends its void period at 12:44 AM EST, when it enters Aquarius. March
12
Attraction to all that is new and unusual, and an instinctive need for
improvement, are emotional inclinations with the Moon in Aquarius all day. Reactions are more intellectual
than emotional, and interactions are more impersonal than personal, under this
influence. This is a time that promotes social gatherings, dealing with group
ideals and goals for the future, brainstorming, new ideas, and progressive
changes. We are open to new methods of doing things and we have our eye on the
future. We are good at finding new solutions to old problems.
It can be hard to stick to schedules now, as personal freedom is most
important to us. Trying to pin us down to deadlines and
routines could be a lesson in frustration today.
March 13
A void of course Moon occurs from 7:58 AM EST, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a
conjunction to Neptune), until the Moon enters Pisces at
1:45 PM EST.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Sagittarius
 The
Moon is at her most optimistic and upbeat in Sagittarius. We are motivated by a
need to seek the truth, and we are ready to pursue a new vision. We are not
interested in details just now. Instead, we focus on the big picture. New
experiences and adventures satisfy a deep emotional need. Spontaneity is the
key. We may also be inclined toward overdoing and overstating. We don't want to
plan ahead, and prefer to "wing it".
The Moon in Sagittarius generally favors the following activities: Adventurous
activities that involve "winging it", travel, higher education, starting
publishing projects, advertising, sports, physical activity.
When the Moon is in Capricorn
 We
become aware of the need for structure and planning ahead. We also instinctively
are aware of the
limitations of time. We are motivated by a desire for success. Achievement and
manifestation are most important to us now. We are resourceful and don't want to
waste time, energy, or resources. This can be a
very sober influence--even a depressing one. However, it can also be a
productive time when we look reality in the face.
The Moon in Capricorn generally favors the following activities: Long-term
activities that yield slow but steady results, practical undertakings, career
issues, making a business plan, practical investments.
When the Moon
is in Aquarius

Attraction to all that is new and unusual, and an instinctive need for
improvement, characterize the Moon in Aquarius. Reactions are more intellectual
than emotional, and interactions are more impersonal than personal, under this
influence. This is a time that promotes social gatherings, dealing with group
ideals and goals for the future, brainstorming, new ideas, and progressive
changes. We are open to new methods of doing things and we have our eye on the
future. It can be hard to stick to schedules now, as personal freedom is most
important to us.
The Moon in Aquarius generally favors the following activities: Unusual or
radical undertakings, social pursuits, group projects, trying something new,
joining a group.
When the Moon
is in Pisces
 We
are not inclined to want to face reality while the Moon is in dreamy,
impressionable Pisces. It can be a wistful, sensitive, intuitive, and
compassionate time. We are especially imaginative, and our intuition reigns
under this influence. Boundaries and walls come down, as Pisces energy merges
and blends. It's a time when details are overlooked and feelings defy
description.
The Moon in Pisces generally favors the following activities: Imaginative
undertakings, mystical or spiritual pursuits, inner development, music and
drama, going on a retreat, activities involving water.

This Week's Planetary
Positions By Sign (General Trends):
Sun in Pisces The mystic, the martyr, the
sinner, and the saint: these archetypes take on greater importance in your
life at a time like this. Forgiveness, compassion, and understanding come
naturally, when you look at life from an eternal perspective - and if anyone
ever does know such things, you'll probably come to understand them as this
cycle unfolds. This can be a phase of sublime spiritual development, to be
sure. But you should be aware of tendencies to believe too quickly, too
deeply, or to become dependent on things or people that seem to offer quick
and easy answers to life's deepest yearnings.
Mercury in Pisces Knowing things without
knowing how you know them is typical at a time like this. The mystical, the
universal, the eternal: these are the things that stir your curiosity. Call
it psychic, call it deja vu ... it can be there when you call on it,
whatever you call it. (Remembering the little things might become more
difficult, however: it's tough to remember if you paid the electric bill
when you're more interested in the eternal verities.)
Venus in Aries Romance at the drop of a
hat is part and parcel of the cycle you have just begun. Winning the hearts
of others can be a challenge you're eager to accept - and the thrill of the
chase might be most of the fun. Is it the pursuit of happiness - or the
happiness of pursuit?
Mars in Leo The thrill of the chase, the
smell of the greasepaint, the roar of the crowd: that's what gets your
juices flowing now that you've entered a new cycle. To be appreciated, to be
admired (adored, even) - that's what you crave. It's a time of creativity,
drama, and passion; a time when grabbing the spotlight and stealing the
scene gives you a thrill. Is winning everything? No - but it's way ahead of
whatever comes in second!
Jupiter in Pisces Mysticism, sensitivity to the needs of others, and
an awareness of karma (the link between the present and the past): these are
your paths to spiritual growth now. Addressing these issues brings you gain
and satisfaction at many levels. A tolerance for differences, an
understanding of human frailties and shortcomings.
Saturn in Libra Relationships and fairness take on a special
importance in your life under the cycle you have just begun. An insistence
on principles that don't allow room for personal differences can be a
self-defeating tendency. True partnership means commitment and being
responsible to the other person - a lesson that takes on greater importance
as this cycle progresses.
Uranus in Pisces Radical mysticism,
idealistic visions, new insights into the linkage between the past and
future: all these things are accentuated now, as you come into a new cycle.
Experimenting with artistic norms and breaking the rules satisfy an inner
need, yet may exact a toll if you are not conscientious about it.
Neptune in Aquarius Humanistic ideals and
a belief that technology and social reform can create a utopia become
powerful and inspiring images at this time. Personal and selfish concerns
seem petty and ignorant - and all the more so if they are part of the status
quo. Liberty, equality, fraternity: are they the ultimate answers or only
the foundations for something that transcends them all?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the
pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary
and inevitable - and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small, but
has bigger consequences than you'd think. Ambition, responsibility, a place
for everyone and everyone in their place...
