Last Quarter Moon
The Last Quarter MOON occurs on Friday, April 10th, 2026, at 12:51 AM EDT.
Early Friday, the Last Quarter Moon is exact, when the Sun in Aries forms a square with the Moon in Capricorn.
The Last Quarter Moon phase points to a crisis of consciousness. After basking in the awareness symbolized by the full light of the Moon at the time of last week’s Full Moon, we disperse our knowledge and come to a point when we need to sort out what works for us–and what doesn’t–in preparation for next week’s New Moon, when something new is born once again.
This is not the best time to start a major project, as the decreasing light of the Moon symbolizes a descent into unconsciousness. It’s time to begin finishing up the details of that which was conceived at the last New Moon. What revelations did you have last week? What did they mean to you? What can be done now?
The Last Quarter Moon Chart:
This phase of the Moon occurs at 20 degrees and 20 minutes of Capricorn square the Sun at the same degree of Aries, affecting people with personal planets and points at 18 to 22 degrees of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) most significantly.
NEXT WEEK: The next Moon phase will happen on Friday, April 17th, 2026, at 7:52 AM EDT, when the New Moon will occur in Aries.

This week: The Sun is in Aries; Mercury is in Pisces; Venus is in Taurus; Mars is in Pisces to April 9th, when it enters Aries.
The Sun is in Aries from March 20-April 19. In Aries, the Sun is enthusiastic and spontaneous. We are motivated by the desire to conquer. We are more impulsive and have the urge to initiate, innovate, and come first.
Aries is a sign that bounces back quickly–there is little in the way of shame with Aries. It is brave and pioneering, and somewhat innocent. We are direct and rather uncomplicated in our needs, but we can also be short-sighted and lack the desire to plan ahead.
Mercury is in Pisces from February 6-April 14. When Mercury is in Pisces, our thinking processes are more visual, intuitive, and imaginative. We are especially attuned to the world of emotion, which colors both our thoughts and our communication style.
We guess well, express ourselves with imagery, and make decisions intuitively. We are more attracted to consciousness-raising information.
It’s not always easy to verbalize our impressions during this cycle. We don’t enjoy pinning down, labeling, or strictly defining things. We recognize that life isn’t always logical, and we prefer not to think in black and white terms. We’re sensitive and impressionable, which means we can take in more than usual, and it can sometimes overwhelm us. Pisces needs periodic time alone or within to regenerate and detox.
Venus is in Taurus from March 30-April 24. In Taurus, Venus is naturally very sensual, content, and possessive. We seek security and value those things that are long-lasting. Our appetite for pleasure is strong.
The sign of Taurus values the here and now and the world of the five senses. Tangible and physical expressions of love and romance figure strongly during the Venus-in-Taurus cycle. Holding on to someone or something we love is our tendency under this influence.
The shadow side of this is excessive possessiveness and treating our partners as objects that we own or want to own.
On the financial side, Venus in Taurus looks for high-quality, solid, practical, and long-lasting items. Holding on to our possessions is more likely now. With art, tastes, and pleasures, we prefer things that are earthy, natural, and grounded. We can be somewhat indulgent at this time. Uncertainty bothers us more than usual–we favor stability over excitement in love and pleasure.
Mars is in Pisces from March 2-April 9. During this cycle, we are less interested in pursuing traditional goals and more motivated to pursue spiritual or emotional drives. We dislike confrontation while Mars is in Pisces. Our output is variable rather than straightforward, and our energy is similarly up and down.
We may prioritize others’ needs over our own, and our more idealistic side may emerge. During this cycle, pursuing what we want becomes less straightforward and more complicated!
However, compassion drives us while Mars is in Pisces. We can be spiritual warriors, or we achieve our goals intuitively and with faith. We can be chameleons, adapting to the current situation quite expertly, although we can also be escape artists, preferring to avoid rather than confront. Our behavior may be passive-aggressive, or we fight for ourselves through confusing or placating our opponent.
Mars is in Aries from April 9-May 18. Mars feels at home in Aries, one of the signs that it rules, and therefore its power is boosted. Our energy is spontaneous, forward-looking, and even courageous under this influence. Our competitive spirit is well-developed, and our goal is to win! We are active, single-minded, and confident.
Our actions are direct–we instinctively find the fastest way to get from point A to point B. The shadow side of Mars in Aries is a tendency to be impatient, arrogant, impulsive, short-lived, unreflective, and self-centered.
We pursue our goals straightforwardly, confidently, unabashedly, and directly with Mars in Aries. The same goes for expressing anger. We want to be first, come first, and do things on our own–our independence, enterprise, and initiative are well-developed.
This transit is better for endeavors that require courage and strong but not necessarily sustained passion and energy. We don’t want to look back or overthink–we only concern ourselves with what we can accomplish right now. Not inclined to beat around the bush, we confidently pursue our desires.

Jupiter is in Cancer.
Jupiter began its transit of Cancer on June 9th, 2025, and will continue its visit to the sign until June 30th, 2026. Read more about Jupiter’s transit of Cancer.

Saturn is in Aries. Saturn is in Aries from May 24th, 2025 to September 1st, 2025, and then from February 13th, 2026, to April 12th, 2028. Read about Saturn’s transit of Aries.

Uranus has returned to Taurus.
Uranus is in Gemini from July 7th to November 7th, 2025, from April 25, 2026, to August 3, 2032, and then from December 12, 2032, to May 22, 2033. Read about Uranus in Gemini in its calendar page.
Uranus has more work to do in the sign of Taurus from November 7th, 2025, to April 25th, 2026. Uranus began in Taurus in 2018/2019. During this cycle, we approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. Above all, we’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle.
There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. In general, we’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money, are likely. Our income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.

Neptune is in Aries. Neptune first transited Aries from March 30, 2025, to October 22, 2025, but it returned to Pisces. Now, Neptune is in Aries for the long haul: from January 26, 2026, to May 21, 2038, and then October 21, 2038, to March 23, 2039. Read about Neptune’s transit of Aries.

Pluto is in Aquarius. Read about Pluto’s transit of Aquarius. Note that Pluto finally completed its journey through Capricorn on November 19th, 2024, from which time Pluto stays in Aquarius for many years to come.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Taurus from March 30-April 24. In Taurus, Venus is usually quite content, but can be possessive. We seek security and value that which lasts. Our appetite for pleasure is strong. Taurus values the here and the now as well as the world of the five senses.
Tangible and physical expressions of love and romance are most important now. Holding on to someone we love is our tendency under Venus in Taurus. The shadow side of this is excessive possessiveness and treating our partners as objects that we own or want to own.
This week: On Saturday and Sunday, we’re anxious to grow and improve, and we may draw in situations that help us do just that.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Taurus A love of music, an appreciation for sensual pleasures and others of the finer things in life – such are the signs of the cycle which has begun for you. This is aesthetic and artistic to be sure, but it is also practical and materialistic: you develop a keen appreciation for the value of things, including the money it takes to buy them.
Venus parallel Chiron March 28. Relationships go through healing and reparation. We’re open to romantic feelings, and more willing to act upon them.
Venus square Pluto April 3. Intense passions, but there’s a hidden agenda. Jealousy and possessiveness are high, in direct proportion to fear of losing partnership. Avoid starting a new relationship at this time, because it can be characterized by these energies.
Venus sextile North Node April 5-6. There is a stronger desire to connect to and belong with others at this time. We are more obliging and sociable.
Venus sextile Jupiter April 12-13. This aspect generates a happy, friendly, and optimistic attitude. People are a little more outgoing and sociable. Favors travel, education, and culture. Romantic opportunities. Harmony and good will.
Venus semi-square Neptune April 13. Romantic confusion as well as relationship ups and downs. Self-deceptions may come to light now.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects.
The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart to determine the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass.
The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Sunday, April 5th, from 5:29 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to Uranus), until the Moon enters Sagittarius at 7:32 PM EDT.
VOC on Wednesday, April 8th, from 5:52 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Mars), until the Moon enters Capricorn at 8:05 AM EDT.
VOC Moon on Friday, April 10th, from 6:24 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Uranus), until the Moon enters Aquarius at 7:55 PM EDT.
April 2026
Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
It’s important to note that there are more factors to consider in addition to the windows listed below. The following windows are starting points. For example, you generally don’t want to elect a new venture when a very challenging aspect is applying, and it’s preferable to elect a time when a particularly positive aspect hasn’t yet perfected (is applying rather than separating).
The Moon is waning this week, which is generally considered unfavorable for new beginnings, although with some exceptions.
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs this week on Friday, April 10th, from approximately 2:00 AM to 6:20 PM EDT, while the Moon is in Capricorn.

This Week’s Aspects

![]()
Sun square Jupiter. We may feel vague restlessness and discontent with life as it is. We want more, but perhaps too much. Overestimation and exaggeration. Elevated moods, but unstable ones, as they may not be based on reality. Channeled well, this energy can represent creative power.
![]()
![]()
Mercury semi-square Pluto. “Suspicious minds” characterize this transit, although if we harness the energy, we can develop strategies to get to the bottom of any matter. Mistrust, investigations. Some level of mental stress, trouble, or pressure.

Mars sextile Uranus. This is a period in which we are more willing than usual to take risks and to make necessary changes in our lives. We are naturally bold and assertive, willing to experiment, and conscious of a need to act independently. Our ideas may be ground-breaking, and at the very least progressive. A strong desire to make things happen is with us now.

APRIL 5
With today’s Sun-Jupiter square, we can find ourselves eager to expand. While our ideas are big, circumstances remind us of the limits of our capabilities, and we must adjust accordingly. There is an inclination to extravagance and overreaching. Although this transit can stimulate much optimism and elevated moods, our state of mind is fragile as things are overblown or unrealistic. We can feel some discontent, leading us to seek more meaning, growth, or change. We should watch for reaching too far on this quest, as we can overestimate our energy levels or the time we might invest in a commitment. We would do well to remind ourselves that going bigger isn’t always in our best interests.
It’s also best to keep our options open, since our plans may not materialize. We might be seeking a loophole or a way out of emotional responsibilities, and we’re not very compromising with the Moon opposite Uranus this afternoon. The Moon continues its transit of intense Scorpio until it heads into spontaneous Sagittarius at 7:32 PM EDT.
The Moon is void from 5:29 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to Uranus), until the Moon enters Sagittarius at 7:32 PM EDT.
APRIL 6
Venus aligns with Ceres and sextiles the True North Node of the Moon today. As we pour more heart and special attention into a person, pastime, or project, we can feel a pleasant attachment, finding it more natural to nurture and support one another or to nurture and develop a project. A gentle challenge can be beneficial. Cooperation and positivity in our social lives come naturally. We want to grow and improve, and may draw in situations that help us do so. The Moon spends the day in Sagittarius, inspiring us to seek knowledge and experience.
APRIL 7
Mercury semi-square Pluto today can find us mildly skeptical. This influence can provoke tension, mental distress, and worry. We might obsess over an issue that we can’t control. This minor challenging aspect adds an edge to our thinking processes and communications. We could feel pressured or troubled, and we might take detective work a little too far. But while we can be somewhat mistrustful under this influence, if we harness the energy and use it for good, we can develop strategies to get to the bottom of a matter. As well, a Neptune-Juno sextile is also in play, boosting our ability to rise above these worries and helping us understand one another and feel good about giving others the benefit of the doubt. We can feel empowered by our charitable qualities. Today’s Sagittarius Moon also increases our faith and optimism.
APRIL 8
Mars, in the last degree of Pisces (and the zodiac), forms a sextile with Uranus, in the final degree of Taurus. Tomorrow, Mars will enter Aries. Uranus will fully move on from the sign of Taurus on April 25th, and it won’t return to Taurus until 2102!
We’re motivated to get out of a rut, innovate, or entertain new methods with this Mars-Uranus transit. We gravitate to new and unique ways of approaching the world around us. In the name of progress, we can be determined to let go of grudges or baggage, and this is a particularly powerful time to do so. Working toward our dreams and inspired goals comes naturally now.
At the same time, we hold the power of detachment that helps us choose paths that work in our favor. We have more courage to go our own way or stand out.
The Moon is void from 5:52 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Mars), until the Moon enters Capricorn at 8:05 AM EDT.
APRIL 9
Mars, the planet of action and energy, enters its home sign of Aries today, where it will transit until May 18th. This is a time of empowerment, as Mars feels exceptionally comfortable in Aries, a sign it rules. Our energy is spontaneous, forward-looking, and even courageous under this influence. Our competitive spirit is well-developed, and our goal is not just to win, but to conquer! We are active, single-minded, and confident. We instinctively find the fastest way to get from point A to point B.
The shadow side of Mars in Aries may surface from time to time, and we can be impatient, arrogant, impulsive, short-lived, unreflective, or self-centered. Ideally, we tap into the Mars-in-Aries side that’s authentic, trail-blazing, enthusiastic, and straightforward, and use it to fuel our ambitions and drive our actions.
The Moon spends the day in earthy, pragmatic Capricorn, however, and we aim to be more measured and disciplined today. It’s not particularly easy to keep things real in the hours around the Moon’s opposition to Jupiter late afternoon, which can stir restlessness and discontent, however. We can experience tension from skewed expectations as we swing between rigidity and impracticality.
APRIL 10
Shortly into the day, the Last Quarter Moon occurs, when the Capricorn Moon forms a square to the Aries Sun, and our sense of responsibility or the proper/mature path can conflict with our personal plans. Now and until the New Moon on the 17th, starting a significant project is not ideal. Instead, it’s time to finish details and tie up loose ends. We might stress ourselves out with this energy, but we can also aim to channel the quarter Moon’s crisis-oriented energy into productivity. The Moon continues its transit of Capricorn until 7:55 PM EDT, and we seek to be more organized, responsible, and on top of things. The Moon then heads into broad-minded and fair Aquarius. With its harmony with Mars, independence, equality, and freedom are vital to feeling emotionally satisfied. We are cooperative and open to change.
The Moon is void today from 6:24 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Uranus), until the Moon enters Aquarius at 7:55 PM EDT.
APRIL 11
The Moon spends the day in Aquarius, and independence, equality, and freedom are vital to feeling emotionally satisfied today. We are cooperative and open to change. The Moon aligns with Pluto and harmonizes with Saturn this morning, and we’re connecting with our inventive, innovative sides. We can feel a deeper kinship with others through commitment to a cause, and we might pour more energy into self-understanding or research. Developing self-discipline can be rewarding and satisfying. Narrowing our focus to a particular pursuit can be beneficial, as it allows us to apply ourselves and prioritize effectively. Mercury aligns with Pallas, and we enjoy making plans, lists, associations, and connections. We seek to order our thoughts and ideas. A potentially healing or clarifying conversation about the past may occur. A Mars-Neptune parallel helps us with inspiration, imagination, and creativity.

THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Aries A new sense of self, a more assertive personal style, a more dynamic approach to life: these are the hallmarks of the cycle that begins for you now. Doubts fade into the background, and reserve is more and more a thing of the past. It’s time for action; your destiny is in your hands, rather than set apart. Full speed ahead (“and damn the torpedoes”) is your motto now, for better or for worse!
Mercury in Pisces Knowing things without knowing how you know them is typical at a time like this. The mystical, the universal, the eternal: these are the things that stir your curiosity. Call it psychic, call it deja vu … it can be there when you call on it, whatever you call it. (Remembering the little things might become more difficult, however: it’s tough to remember if you paid the electric bill when you’re more interested in the eternal verities.)
Mars in Pisces There’s a martyr complex in the air, now that this new phase has begun in your life. How can you (or anyone) save the world? It’s a question you’ll probably ask yourself as this cycle continues. Defending the weak, undoing injustice, and tilting at windmills can be a big temptation. You might even win a few hands – but you’ll blister a couple if you’re not careful.
Mars in Aries Fresh challenges and initiatives light your fires now, as a new cycle begins in your life – lots of energy, a powerful urge to be first or come out on top. Away with the old and on to the new – let no one and nothing stand between you and your objective! Headstrong impulses and rash courage can take you far … sometimes in harm’s way, if you’re not careful.
Jupiter in Cancer Taking care of yourself and all that’s yours becomes a high priority in your life now. Security, setting down roots, establishing your ties with the past: these things are among the articles of faith that guide you. This is often a sign of growth in all things connected with family and property (such as real estate).
Saturn in Aries Self-discipline and a sense of self-worth become important issues in your life as a new phase begins for you. A fear of asserting yourself can hold you back – as can coming on too strong. The trick is learning to make the most of your personal talents and abilities, working within your limitations instead of feeling hemmed in by them.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Aries The frontier spirit is alive and well as a new cycle dawns in your life. Independence and originality take on a kind of primal importance for you; you tend to put these qualities on a pedestal, above all else. Fresh starts, new possibilities … these are the visions that light a spark in your soul. But what of the weak, the ones who aren’t free, the ones who get left behind?
Pluto in Aquarius Reform, revolution, a rejection of the past and a focus on the future: these are the signatures of the new phase now beginning in your life. Tradition becomes irrelevant, and the conventional wisdom is revealed as dogma or outright nonsense – and what’s the difference, really? Radical changes in all things social and intellectual.
