The First Quarter MOON occurs on Thursday, April 23rd, 2026, at 10:31 PM EDT.
On Thursday night, the Taurus Sun and Leo Moon form a square, and a First Quarter Moon occurs.
There is a crisis theme surrounding any quarter Moon phase, as we feel compelled to take action. Shortly after, we become aware of how our actions affect those close to us, perhaps through trial and error. Any project or initiative we began around the New Moon is now off the ground, and it may face its first obstacles.

This phase of the Moon occurs at 3 degrees and 56 minutes of Leo square the Sun at the same degree of Taurus, affecting people with personal planets and points at 2 to 6 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) most significantly.

On Friday morning, the New Moon in Aries occurs, marking the beginning of a new cycle. The Pisces New Moon cycle ends and the Aries New Moon cycle begins.
The New Moon in Aries is a good time to commit to personal goals that express the positive energies of the sign of the Ram. It’s time to take action – try something new and innovative, and go at it with gusto and confidence; be assertive without being abrasive; take charge of our lives; start a brand new project, and discover our own personal courage.
This is a strong cycle under which to re-evaluate our relationship with ourselves. With this potent Aries energy, we have the chance to make important changes in our lives. It’s time to make some solid yet realistic plans and to set the stage for reaping the rewards from our new beginnings, as little or big as they may be, in approximately two weeks’ time after the Full Moon occurs.
Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, and thus a New Moon in Aries is especially ripe with opportunity for new beginnings. We might consider acting on a constructive impulse and following a hunch or taking a risk.
Aries learns through experience and action, and we might treat ourselves to a little adventure now. It’s also a good cycle under which to discover the benefits of expressing ourselves with authenticity – expressing ourselves as we are, without putting on airs.
We might find ways to learn how to rely on ourselves and to be happy about doing so – it will go a long way towards finding inner happiness when we know that we can be self-sufficient without blaming others for not helping us out. It’s a time to revitalize ourselves through experiences that break the routine and that involve doing something new and fresh.
The New Moon Chart:
New Moon in Aries Chart: April 17, 2026
This phase of the Moon occurs at 27 degrees and 29 minutes of Aries, affecting people with personal planets and points at 23 to 30 degrees of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) and about 0 to 1 degree of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) most significantly.
Occurring when all major planets are direct, this New Moon suggests few obstacles. However, Mars, the ruler of Aries is applying to a conjunction to Saturn, and while we’re ready to work hard and pace ourselves, we can be combatting some fear of not being number one. This combination reminds us to be prudent and measured, which doesn’t come naturally to Mars in Aries.
Note also that Chiron aligns with the New Moon, and our sense of mission and purpose is strongly tied in with new beginnings. This lunation is triggering our vulnerabilities.
As well, Mercury, Mars, Saturn, and Neptune are conjunct around the time of this New Moon, and these bodies are also sextile Pluto. This is complex energy. We can feel driven and inspired, particularly to win, overcome obstacles, or come first, but we also face criticism, skepticism, and blocks. If we have too many irons in the fire, we’ll feel the blockage and pressure. Frustrated energy, particularly in the face of veiled motives, deception, or overly aggressive promotion of fantasies, and terse communication are themes.
There is much determination to gain control, but also to seek clarity about vague, complex matters or to push back against disinformation and delusion. While there can be pressure to take action, there can also be difficulty keeping up with our ambitions and miscalculations from working under pressure. This combination is a complex mix of defensiveness and combativeness.
I like to see two charts of the New Moon. The one above, using only the major bodies, is useful for seeing chart patterns and core influences. Adding additional points or bodies is helpful for seeing nuances, as follows:

This week: The Sun is in Aries only until April 19th, when it enters Taurus; Mercury is in Aries; Venus is in Taurus until the 24th, when it enters Gemini; Mars is in Aries.
The Sun is in Aries from March 20-April 19. In Aries, the Sun is enthusiastic and spontaneous. We are motivated by the desire to conquer. We are more impulsive and have the urge to initiate, innovate, and come first.
Aries is a sign that bounces back quickly–there is little in the way of shame with Aries. It is brave and pioneering, and somewhat innocent. We are direct and rather uncomplicated in our needs, but we can also be short-sighted and lack the desire to plan ahead.
The Sun is in Taurus from April 19-May 20. In Taurus, the Sun is methodical, sensual, and receptive. The Sun in Taurus is most active when it is defending or resisting! As the Sun moves through Taurus when plants take root, our determination and security needs are strong. Taurus is loyal to all that is familiar and values longevity. The shadow side of Taurus is possessiveness and bullheadedness.
The Sun in Taurus is the connoisseur and sensualist. It’s patient, stubborn, earthy, stable, and rooted. The Sun-in-Taurus cycle is a good one for maintaining or building, as well as enjoying and appreciating what’s already in place. While the Taurus Sun is slow to warm up, it’s stable and persevering once it does. We value what’s long-term, strong, and lasting during this phase.
Mercury is in Aries from April 14-May 2. When Mercury is in Aries, we are less concerned with objective viewpoints and explanations, and more concerned with reaching a decision…quickly! Our thoughts and ideas are pioneering, and we tend to speak more spontaneously and directly with the planet of communication in bold and assertive Aries.
There can be quick, possibly impatient or hurried, decisions during this cycle, and our responses are similar: quick and perhaps defensive or combative. We value independent thought, and we can be mentally competitive. executive decisions. We prefer to learn through personal experience, not instruction.
Venus is in Taurus from March 30-April 24. In Taurus, Venus is naturally very sensual, content, and possessive. We seek security and value those things that are long-lasting. Our appetite for pleasure is strong.
The sign of Taurus values the here and now and the world of the five senses. Tangible and physical expressions of love and romance figure strongly during the Venus-in-Taurus cycle. Holding on to someone or something we love is our tendency under this influence.
The shadow side of this is excessive possessiveness and treating our partners as objects that we own or want to own.
On the financial side, Venus in Taurus looks for high-quality, solid, practical, and long-lasting items. Holding on to our possessions is more likely now. With art, tastes, and pleasures, we prefer things that are earthy, natural, and grounded. We can be somewhat indulgent at this time. Uncertainty bothers us more than usual–we favor stability over excitement in love and pleasure.
Venus is in Gemini from April 24-May 18. With Venus in Gemini, we have a finger in every pie. Curiosity motivates us on romantic and social levels. “Variety is the spice of life” is the motto now. We are friendly, communicative, charming, and interested.
While it’s a time when we can be animated and fun, we may also keep our distance on an emotional level. Attractions often begin with words, as we tend to bond more readily on a mental level while Venus is in Gemini. We’re most attracted to mentally interesting people. Sometimes, our curiosity leads us into relationships that we might not form otherwise. The shadow side of Gemini is fickleness or disinterest in profundity.
Venus in Gemini is flirtatious, captivating, and adaptable. We ask questions and want to keep things light and lively. During this transit, we do best when we’re mentally engaged and our desire for variety is addressed. Social stimulation is appealing. Good fortune with transportation and communication can figure strongly.
Mars is in Aries from April 9-May 18. Mars feels at home in Aries, one of the signs that it rules, and therefore its power is boosted. Our energy is spontaneous, forward-looking, and even courageous under this influence. Our competitive spirit is well-developed, and our goal is to win! We are active, single-minded, and confident.
Our actions are direct–we instinctively find the fastest way to get from point A to point B. The shadow side of Mars in Aries is a tendency to be impatient, arrogant, impulsive, short-lived, unreflective, and self-centered.
We pursue our goals straightforwardly, confidently, unabashedly, and directly with Mars in Aries. The same goes for expressing anger. We want to be first, come first, and do things on our own–our independence, enterprise, and initiative are well-developed.
This transit is better for endeavors that require courage and strong but not necessarily sustained passion and energy. We don’t want to look back or overthink–we only concern ourselves with what we can accomplish right now. Not inclined to beat around the bush, we confidently pursue our desires.
Jupiter is in Cancer.

Uranus moves into Gemini on April 25th.
Uranus is in Gemini from July 7th to November 7th, 2025, from April 25, 2026, to August 3, 2032, and then from December 12, 2032, to May 22, 2033. Read about Uranus in Gemini in its calendar page.
Uranus has more work to do in the sign of Taurus from November 7th, 2025, to April 25th, 2026. Uranus began in Taurus in 2018/2019. During this cycle, we approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. Above all, we’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle.
There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. In general, we’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money, are likely. Our income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
This week, on April 25th, Uranus enters Gemini, this time for the long haul.
Neptune is in Aries. Neptune first transited Aries from March 30, 2025, to October 22, 2025, but it returned to Pisces. Now, Neptune is in Aries for the long haul: from January 26, 2026, to May 21, 2038, and then October 21, 2038, to March 23, 2039. Read about Neptune’s transit of Aries.
Pluto is in Aquarius. Read about Pluto’s transit of Aquarius. Note that Pluto finally completed its journey through Capricorn on November 19th, 2024, from which time Pluto stays in Aquarius for many years to come.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Taurus from March 30-April 24. In Taurus, Venus is usually quite content, but can be possessive. We seek security and value that which lasts. Our appetite for pleasure is strong. Taurus values the here and the now as well as the world of the five senses.

Venus is in Gemini from April 24-May 18. In Gemini, Venus is communicative, sociable but emotionally aloof, insatiably curious, and a little bit flighty. Fickleness with our affections is a strong possibility, but the desire for a meeting of minds is strong and the urge to socialize dominates.
Some detachment from our emotions is likely, which may be a breath of fresh air for some. The lines of communication open, although we may only scratch the surface of things. Under this influence, love is playful and lighthearted. Fickleness is the shadow side of Venus in Gemini.
This week: On Tuesday to Thursday, a need for a fresh start is with us. We want to move forward fearlessly into the future. Attractions are immediate and pleasant, although perhaps surprising. Spontaneity and impulsiveness tend to rule in matters of the heart now. Romantic infatuations, gossip, and unanticipated opportunities, socially or financially, can figure strongly now. We have a greater need for social excitement.
On Saturday, while we’re not necessarily saying the right things, we’re ready to grow through our missteps or through awkward moments.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Taurus A love of music, an appreciation for sensual pleasures and others of the finer things in life – such are the signs of the cycle which has begun for you. This is aesthetic and artistic to be sure, but it is also practical and materialistic: you develop a keen appreciation for the value of things, including the money it takes to buy them.
Venus in Gemini Saying (or writing) it with style comes natural now. A yen for variety is a hallmark of this phase, and this especially applies to romantic experience and artistic tastes. (The latter tends to focus on literature in general and poetry in particular.) A sociable, congenial, slightly frivolous orientation sets in.
Venus semi-square Mars April 15. Tensions in relationships. Attempting to satisfy romantic needs and assertive/sexual needs simultaneously can be challenging.
Venus semi-square Saturn April 17. Feelings of isolation, of not getting what we really want, and of not being loved the way we want to be loved can get in the way of pleasant relations with our partners.
Venus parallel Uranus April 21. There can be spontaneous meetings and forward movement in our relationships. We have good instincts for future trends. We embrace all that is new, unusual, and out-of-the-ordinary with regards to romantic involvements. We lose our fear of taking risks at this time. We are ready to experiment, but not necessarily ready to commit. Peculiar, sudden, or avant garde attractions. This is an exciting but unstable energy. Friendship in love relationships becomes more important.
Venus conjunct Uranus April 23. We have a taste for the unusual and the avant garde. We are itching for a change. What makes a person unique is more attractive under this influence. Excitement and newness are valued over permanence in social relationships. Freedom is more important than intimacy just now. We lose our fears of taking risks in love and social situations. Romantic infatuations, gossip, unanticipated opportunities socially or financially. We have a greater need for self-expression, personal freedom, and social excitement.
Venus semi-square Mercury April 25-26. Communications between lovers are superficial and unsatisfying, and perhaps awkward. Superficiality in romantic expression may exist now.
Venus sextile Neptune April 26. Unusual attractions that add imagination, inspiration, and emotional “color” to our lives may occur now. We are attuned to the subtleties of human interaction, and we are more inclined to naturally cooperate with others. An imaginative, romantic time.
Venus semi-square Jupiter April 26. We experience a strong desire for more pleasure in our lives, which can be excessive. Take care not to overstate your feelings or to set up unrealistic expectations in your partnerships.
Venus trine Pluto April 28. Powerful and uplifting time for romantic/sexual relationships. New insights into relationships and love. Strong attractions. Relationships are intense and deep, but not draining.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects.
The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart to determine the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass.
The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.

This Week’s Aspects
Mars conjunct Saturn. Feelings of being blocked are possible, as enthusiasm meets with realism. Work takes on definite shape, and we can see results from our efforts. This gives us a sense of responsibility and a feeling of directedness and purposefulness. This is a good time to temper our energy and to exercise better judgment. It’s also a strong period for getting and feeling organized. Seniority is favored now. Traditional methods work, and thoroughness brings rewards. Pushing ahead, however, can be costly or could result in frustration, as “slow and steady” is the only way to go now.
Mercury conjunct Saturn. Our ability to concentrate and focus is enhanced now. There could be an increased need for solitude in order to think or work. Travel for business purposes is possible. Thinking in realistic and practical terms, and the need for tangible results for our efforts, is indicated. We might receive serious news or practical advice, or engage in an important conversation. This can mark the start of a new project that involves communications, such as writing, speaking, reporting, etc.
Mercury conjunct Mars. This is a good energy for debate or energetic mental work. We may be called upon to make a decision, but it may be a hasty, ill-considered one. We may be argumentative and irritable under this influence, and particularly impatient with vagueness. Be careful to avoid cutting words and aggressive driving. Our minds may be especially clear and active, and this can be a good time to eliminate wasteful activities. This influence excites and over-stimulates the whole nervous system.
Venus conjunct Uranus. We have a taste for the unusual and the avant garde. We are itching for a change. What makes a person unique is more attractive under this influence. Excitement and newness are valued over permanence in social relationships. We lose our fears of taking risks in love and social situations. Romantic infatuations, gossip, unanticipated opportunities socially or financially. We have a greater need for self-expression, personal freedom, and social excitement.
Mercury semi-square Uranus. We can have flashes of insight, but tend to be scatterbrained. Our ideas and communications may not be well-received because they don’t seem to others to carry weight. Our minds are not peaceful or harmonious under this influence, and irritable tempers, sarcastic speech, and dogmatism are negative expressions of this energy.
Sun square Pluto. Insubordination and abuse of power. Impatience with rules. Compulsiveness. The urge to get to the bottom of matters is with us, but we are too insistent. Avoid beating a dead horse and attempting to force matters that should naturally take time to unfold. Circumstances now can push us to discover our own power–power that comes from a strong sense of self rather than superficial energy derived from manipulating people into doing what we want them to do. Events may occur now that highlight the need to trust.

APRIL 19
The Moon aligns with Uranus today for the final time while it’s in Taurus, as Uranus will move on to the sign of Gemini on the 25th, not to return to Taurus for decades. We’re taking the best of the traditional and progressive worlds and using them to make updates that improve our lives today. The Moon continues its transit of Taurus until 12:19 PM EDT, when it heads into Gemini, and we’re interested, curious, and adaptable.
Mars aligns with Saturn today, pushing a practical, responsible theme. The need to take action or fulfill a responsibility can arise. Although we can feel confined or obligated under this influence, a stronger sense of purpose and direction can emerge. There can be a reality check, as realism now tempers our enthusiasm. A block or obstacle can force us to pace ourselves. We may be called to task for an obligation. There can be frustration with stalled initiatives and lost momentum.
Ideally, we exercise better judgment as a result of developing circumstances. Traditional methods work better than less conventional ones at the moment, and thoroughness brings rewards. Pushing ahead, however, can be costly or lead to frustration, as “slow and steady” seems to be the best approach currently. This is a strong time to get organized and stick with projects through to the end. Note that Mercury will align with Saturn and Mars tomorrow.
The Sun enters Taurus tonight, where it will transit until May 20th. We’re more practically, materially, and sensually oriented during this cycle. The Taurus Sun takes its time, as it’s deliberate, and brings us patient and receptive energy. Our security needs are strong, and we can be possessive or stubborn. Taurus values longevity and is loyal to all that is familiar.

Mars aligned with Saturn in Aries yesterday, and today Mercury aligns with Saturn, then Mars. It’s a powerful, complicated mix, particularly as Neptune is close by and was recently involved. We can feel driven and inspired, particularly to win, overcome obstacles, or come first, but we also face criticism, skepticism, and blocks. It’s time to take action – try something new and innovative, and go at it with gusto and confidence; be assertive without being abrasive; take charge of our lives; start a brand new project, and discover our own personal courage.
This is a strong cycle under which to re-evaluate our relationship with ourselves. With this potent Aries energy, we have the chance to make important changes in our lives. This phase of the Moon occurs at 27 degrees and 29 minutes of Aries, affecting people with personal planets and points at 23 to 30 degrees of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) and about 0 to 1 degree of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) most significantly.
Occurring when all major planets are direct, this New Moon suggests few obstacles. However, Mars, the ruler of Aries is applying to a conjunction to Saturn, and while we’re ready to work hard and pace ourselves, we can be combatting some fear of not being number one. This combination reminds us to be prudent and measured, which doesn’t come naturally to Mars in Aries.
Note also that Chiron aligns with the New Moon, and our sense of mission and purpose is strongly tied in with new beginnings. This lunation is triggering our vulnerabilities.

The Sun is in Taurus from April 19-May 20. In Taurus, the Sun is methodical, sensual, and receptive. The Sun in Taurus is most active when it is defending or resisting! As the Sun moves through Taurus when plants take root, our determination and security needs are strong. Taurus is loyal to all that is familiar and values longevity. The shadow side of Taurus is possessiveness and bullheadedness.
The Sun in Taurus is the connoisseur and sensualist. It’s patient, stubborn, earthy, stable, and rooted. The Sun-in-Taurus cycle is a good one for maintaining or building, as well as enjoying and appreciating what’s already in place. Uranus has more work to do in the sign of Taurus from November 7th, 2025, to April 25th, 2026. Uranus began in Taurus in 2018/2019. The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects.
The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart to determine the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass.
The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.

Mars conjunct Saturn. Feelings of being blocked are possible, as enthusiasm meets with realism. Work takes on definite shape, and we can see results from our efforts. This gives us a sense of responsibility and a feeling of directedness and purposefulness. This is a good time to temper our energy and to exercise better judgment. It’s also a strong period for getting and feeling organized. Seniority is favored now. Traditional methods work, and thoroughness brings rewards. Pushing ahead, however, can be costly or could result in frustration, as “slow and steady” is the only way to go now.
Mercury conjunct Saturn. Our ability to concentrate and focus is enhanced now. There could be an increased need for solitude in order to think or work. Travel for business purposes is possible. Thinking in realistic and practical terms, and the need for tangible results for our efforts, is indicated. We might receive serious news or practical advice, or engage in an important conversation. This can mark the start of a new project that involves communications, such as writing, speaking, reporting, etc.
Mercury conjunct Mars. This is a good energy for debate or energetic mental work. We may be called upon to make a decision, but it may be a hasty, ill-considered one. We may be argumentative and irritable under this influence, and particularly impatient with vagueness. Be careful to avoid cutting words and aggressive driving. Our minds may be especially clear and active, and this can be a good time to eliminate wasteful activities. This influence excites and over-stimulates the whole nervous system.
Venus conjunct Uranus. We have a taste for the unusual and the avant garde. We are itching for a change. What makes a person unique is more attractive under this influence. Excitement and newness are valued over permanence in social relationships. We lose our fears of taking risks in love and social situations. Romantic infatuations, gossip, unanticipated opportunities socially or financially. We have a greater need for self-expression, personal freedom, and social excitement.
Mercury semi-square Uranus. We can have flashes of insight, but tend to be scatterbrained. Our ideas and communications may not be well-received because they don’t seem to others to carry weight. Our minds are not peaceful or harmonious under this influence, and irritable tempers, sarcastic speech, and dogmatism are negative expressions of this energy.
Sun square Pluto. Insubordination and abuse of power. Impatience with rules. Compulsiveness. The urge to get to the bottom of matters is with us, but we are too insistent. Avoid beating a dead horse and attempting to force matters that should naturally take time to unfold. Circumstances now can push us to discover our own power–power that comes from a strong sense of self rather than superficial energy derived from manipulating people into doing what we want them to do. Events may occur now that highlight the need to trust.

APRIL 19
The Moon aligns with Uranus today for the final time while it’s in Taurus, as Uranus will move on to the sign of Gemini on the 25th, not to return to Taurus for decades. We’re taking the best of the traditional and progressive worlds and using them to make updates that improve our lives today. The Moon continues its transit of Taurus until 12:19 PM EDT, when it heads into Gemini, and we’re interested, curious, and adaptable.
Mars aligns with Saturn today, pushing a practical, responsible theme. The need to take action or fulfill a responsibility can arise. Although we can feel confined or obligated under this influence, a stronger sense of purpose and direction can emerge. There can be a reality check, as realism now tempers our enthusiasm. A block or obstacle can force us to pace ourselves. We may be called to task for an obligation. There can be frustration with stalled initiatives and lost momentum.
Ideally, we exercise better judgment as a result of developing circumstances. Traditional methods work better than less conventional ones at the moment, and thoroughness brings rewards. Pushing ahead, however, can be costly or lead to frustration, as “slow and steady” seems to be the best approach currently. This is a strong time to get organized and stick with projects through to the end. Note that Mercury will align with Saturn and Mars tomorrow.
The Sun enters Taurus tonight, where it will transit until May 20th. We’re more practically, materially, and sensually oriented during this cycle. The Taurus Sun takes its time, as it’s deliberate, and brings us patient and receptive energy. Our security needs are strong, and we can be possessive or stubborn. Taurus values longevity and is loyal to all that is familiar.
The Sun-in-Taurus cycle is good for maintaining or building and enjoying and appreciating what’s already in place. While the Taurus Sun is slow to warm up, it’s stable and persevering once it does. We value what’s long-term, strong, and lasting during this phase.

Mars aligned with Saturn in Aries yesterday, and today Mercury aligns with Saturn, then Mars. It’s a powerful, complicated mix, particularly as Neptune is close by and was recently involved. We can feel driven and inspired, particularly to win, overcome obstacles, or come first, but we also face criticism, skepticism, and blocks. If we have too many irons in the fire, we’ll feel the blockage and pressure. Frustrated energy, particularly in the face of veiled motives, deception, or overly aggressive promotion of fantasies, and terse communication are themes. There is much determination to gain control, but also to seek clarity about vague matters or to push back against disinformation and delusion. While there can be pressure to take action, there can also be difficulty keeping up with our ambitions and miscalculations from working under pressure. This combination is a complex mix of defensiveness and combativeness.
Today, we’re tougher in our thinking and communications. The Mercury-Mars alignment is quick to action and to anger. It’s also reactive. With Saturn in the picture, we’re determined and serious. This can be a time of tough talking or negotiations, or when we’re forcing ourselves to focus to meet deadlines. We may be trying to prove ourselves through defiance or self-reliance. We could also be delivering realities or truths with some lack of sensitivity. There can be aggressive or excited thinking and communication, and we are more invested in our ideas and convictions than usual. Keeping busy and making headway satisfies us more than usual, and it’s best to channel excess mental energy constructively. Tensions are possible, particularly when we become over-excited about an idea or resistant to letting others’ input in. This alignment can bring an intense but hidden competitive theme.

The Moon continues its transit of Gemini until 1:01 PM EDT, when it moves into Cancer. With the Gemini Moon, we crave mental stimulation and a variety of interests and things to do or learn. We’re especially responsive and sensitive to what’s going on around us, and we’re more adaptive than usual. With the Cancer Moon from 1:01 PM onward, we strive to connect with our past in empowering ways, and we can be more protective and resourceful while trusting our intuition. The Cancer Moon is sensitive, cautious, shrewd, and receptive. Venus will form a conjunction with Uranus in two days, but today, these bodies form a parallel, and there can be spontaneous meetings, unpredictability, or forward movement in our relationships. We can have sudden attractions or changes in what we value.

When the Moon is in Cancer
