After basking in the awareness symbolized by the full light of the Moon at the time of last week’s Full Moon, we disperse our knowledge, coming to a point when we need to sort out what works for us–and what doesn’t. This is in preparation for next week’s New Moon when something new is born once again. This is not the best time to start a major project, as the decreasing light of the Moon symbolizes descent into unconsciousness. It’s time to begin finishing up the details of that which was conceived at the last New Moon. We might consider revelations we may have had in the last week and what they mean for us. Next steps may be clearer.

This phase of the Moon occurs at 18 degrees and 8 minutes of Gemini square the Sun in Virgo, affecting people with personal planets and points at approximately 16 to 20 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) most significantly.

The FULL MOON occurs on Wednesday, September 2nd, 2020, at 1:22 AM EDT.

Early Wednesday, the Full Moon occurs as the Sun in Virgo opposes the Moon in Pisces.

The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time – a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.

The Virgo-Pisces polarity is the service axis, and it deals with the balance between day-to-day functions and routines, physical health, and the need for order (Virgo) and vision, spiritual health, disorder, and the infinite (Pisces).

Virgo rules our personal set of tools and techniques that we use to deal with day-to-day life, while Pisces rules the tools that we use to deal with our spirituality.

The key to balance lies in identifying and expressing our spiritual needs while maintaining order in our everyday lives. Neglecting either end of the axis will surely backfire–we would either be living in chaos or in excessive order.

This Full Moon harmonizes tightly with Uranus, suggesting an easy acceptance of change and progress now. Even so, it occurs just as Venus applies to an opposition to Saturn, suggesting some interpersonal challenges that contribute to fueling our discoveries, epiphanies, and realizations now.

This week: The Sun is in Virgo; Mercury is in Libra; Venus is in Cancer until the 6th, after which Venus is in Leo; Mars is in Aries.

The Sun is in Virgo from August 22-September 22. Our focus shifts to the pieces of the puzzle–the little details of our lives. It is now time to take care of practical concerns. Tending to the details of everyday life may not sound like loads of fun, but it can certainly free us from unnecessary stress that results from “collecting” odds and ends of unfinished business. This is an ideal time to get organized, to do detail work, and to improve communications on the job.

Mercury is in Libra from September 5-27. When Mercury is in Libra, we are diplomatic and friendly. During this cycle, we are able to bring a more rational approach to one-to-one relationships. It’s a good time to think about ways of improving our negotiation skills. In an attempt to see both sides of any given situation, Mercury in Libra can be a vacillating energy. It can be more challenging than usual to make quick decisions, as we can sit “on the fence”. We may too easily accommodate others’ opinions in order to keep the peace. In our negotiations, we don’t want to assert ourselves in such a way as to appear to be the “bad guy.” However, this is a good period for considering others’ points of view. We are more inclined to arrive at fair conclusions.

Venus is in Cancer from August 7-September 6. In Cancer, Venus is nurturing, protective and self-protective, cautious, and fertile. We experience many emotional ups and downs in love under this influence due to increased sensitivity and impressionability. We are tender, romantic, and attached. Cancer love is dedicated, warm, and devoted. We show our love through our devotion, care, and concern. We are affectionate and cuddly, and we’re at our best when we feel safe and secure.

Venus is in Leo from September 6-October 2. Love is magnificent and grand. We take pride in love, and we are generous with our money as well. This is a warmhearted, teasing, expressive, proud, and extravagant placement for Venus. Love is a bit of a game–a game that is perpetual, as Venus in Leo is forever stuck in the romance stage of a relationship. We feed on attention, acknowledgement, validation, and adoration. Venus in Leo loves to be adored, pampered, and admired. Pride and passion are hallmarks of this cycle. We have a strong ego investment in our love lives during this period. The negative expression of this placement is overstating our feelings simply for the effect, as well as extravagance.

Mars is in Aries from June 27, 2020, to January 6, 2021. [This is longer than usual due to the retrograde of Mars from September 9-November 13, 2020.] Mars feels at home in one of the signs that it rules, Aries, and therefore its power is boosted. Our energy is spontaneous, forward-looking, and even courageous under this influence. Our competitive spirit is well-developed, and our goal is to win! We are active, single-minded, and confident. Our actions are direct–we instinctively find the fastest way to get from point A to point B. The shadow side of Mars in Aries is a tendency to be impatient, arrogant, impulsive, short-lived, unreflective, and self-centered.

We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle. There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. Venus square Mars September 3-4. Passions run high under this influence. Venus sesquiquadrate Neptune September 9-10. Romantic confusion as well as relationship ups and downs. Self-deceptions may come to light now.

Venus trine Chiron September 12-13. A commitment-friendly transit. Love can heal old wounds. We are open to romantic feelings.

Venus square Uranus September 14-15. We might have to deal with issues of freedom versus intimacy during this period. Peculiar or impulsive attractions are exciting, but unlikely to last very long. Treat them as passing fancies, and enjoy them while they last–but try to hold off on making any big decisions with regards to love today.

Sun trine Jupiter. This influence is about growth and expansiveness. We are more aware of moral issues, and have a desire to improve and learn. Optimism and confidence are basic elements in the energy of this transit. We are more willing to take a risk or two, and we are motivated by a desire to impress others. Enthusiasm runs high, and cooperation comes easy. This is generally a good time to schedule new beginnings in business, education, personal relationships, marriage, creative projects, and so forth, all things equal.

Venus sesquiquadrate Neptune. Happiness is addictive under this influence. We tend to see what we want to see. Glossing over the more realistic points, details, and flaws of circumstances and of people provides us with instant gratification. However, it’s wise to hold off on making important purchases, or natalizing a relationship until the veil lifts. Take care with legal, financial, and social involvements, contracts, or formal agreements under this dreamy influence.

Mercury opposition Chiron. Misunderstandings in communications that occur now stem from taking things too personally. It can be hard to read the intention behind the words used to communicate now. Doubting our ability to make a clear cut decision comes from a feeling that opposing viewpoints hold the same weight, and thus an inability to choose sides. There can be a sense of shooting ourselves in the foot when we present our ideas or opinions, and a feeling of misrepresenting ourselves when we communicate can figure strongly now.

Sun opposition Neptune. It’s easy to get lost in fantasy at this time, as we feel somewhat directionless and less able to face everyday realities. Willpower is low. Not a good time for any financial undertaking or formal agreement.

Mercury quincunx Uranus. It is difficult to get a point across without rubbing people the wrong way or misrepresenting ourselves. Uncertainty reigns today. Avoid making hasty decisions that you will later regret. Impulsiveness, disorganization, unreceptive to practical advice and/or your ideas are not well-received.

SEPTEMBER 7

The Moon spends the day in the sign of Taurus, encouraging us to enjoy ourselves and appreciate what we have going for us. There can be a slowing down and stabilizing of our feelings. Earthy activities and sensual pleasures appeal now more than usual, and we find a sense of peace and contentment with that which is familiar and reliable. Even so, the Moon aligns with Uranus and harmonizes with the Sun, Jupiter, and Neptune, suggesting the desire to grow, improve, and innovate. We easily find outlets for emotional expression. While we’re not inclined to go out of our way today, preferring to settle in, compassionate feelings and interactions can figure strongly.

SEPTEMBER 8

The Moon continues its transit of stable Taurus until it enters connected Gemini at 5:28 PM EDT. While the Moon is in Taurus, life may seem to move a little more slowly, mostly in a pleasant way. We are especially aware of our need to enjoy the sensual pleasures of life. The Moon in Gemini is curious and communicative, making it a good time to look into new topics and handle several different tasks, although it’s not an ideal time for follow-through. The Sun is heading toward a trine to Jupiter, and enthusiasm runs high. Cooperation comes easily under this influence that emphasizes the positive in our lives. Nevertheless, we might avoid making significant changes just for now. Mars is set to turn retrograde, coming to its retrograde station tomorrow evening, and there can be some confusion or indecision as we change gears and adapt to the change.

SEPTEMBER 9

The Moon spends the day in Gemini, stimulating our desire to mingle, connect, chat, and learn. Today’s Sun-Jupiter trine encourages a desire to grow, expand, improve, and impress. Whether it’s a business venture, friendship, attitude, self-improvement endeavor, or relationship, we want to bring it to the next level. Enthusiasm runs high, and cooperation comes easily. We might make grand gestures, show off a little, and rise above petty problems and differences. While optimism is strong, Mars stations and turns retrograde today, suggesting we might reserve judgment. There can be some difficulties knowing what we want as the shift occurs. During the Mars retrograde cycle itself, which spans from today until November 13th, we need to re-assess our current projects, our approach to getting what we want, and our desires. The Last Quarter Moon occurs this morning as the Sun in Virgo forms a square to the Moon in Gemini. This is a time for seeing our next steps and taking a more mature look at a matter. We might consider revelations we had in the last week and what they mean for us. However, cloudly thinking is likely today. This morning, a Venus-Neptune minor challenge might seduce us into believing things that we want to believe. While glossing over the more realistic points, details, and flaws of circumstances and people provides us with instant gratification, it’s best to hold off on making important purchases or relationship decisions until the veil lifts. As well, Mercury opposes Chiron this afternoon, coloring the day with another layer of uncertainty. We may interpret feedback as criticism, and we should watch for misrepresenting ourselves. As we focus on the differences and weaknesses rather than the strong points, we may give too much weight to matters that don’t deserve the attention.

SEPTEMBER 11

With the Sun opposite Neptune today, we can easily get lost in fantasy as we feel somewhat directionless and not very up to facing everyday realities. The tendency to glamorize others or to put people on a pedestal can come to a head now, and this can extend beyond people to situations and objects. It’s a time for seeking a better balance between action and reflection. We are more sensitive and vulnerable under this influence, but also quite prone to misperceiving people or situations. We might watch for projecting our unrealized dreams or wishes onto others. Willpower is low. It’s not a good time for major financial undertakings or formal agreements. We’ve been paying more attention to service to others and our physical health, and we may need to take a step back for spiritual refreshment. The Moon continues its transit of Gemini until it moves into the sign of Cancer at 4:23 AM EDT. Warmth, comfort, familiarity, and safety are drives with the Moon in Cancer.

SEPTEMBER 12

Mercury forms a quincunx to Uranus this morning, which can find us feeling a little unsettled mentally. It can be a challenge to gain others’ understanding. We should watch for poorly-considered decisions, impulsive communications, and disorganization leading to misunderstandings. Jupiter turns direct after four months of retrograde motion since May 14th. Gradually over the next few weeks, matters ruled by Jupiter will move forward more straightforwardly. Our confidence in ourselves and the universe builds. Our faith and perspective expand, although as this shift occurs now, problems can seem larger than life. This direct turn can feel refreshing. The Moon spends the day in the sign of Cancer, and we’re inclined to find much to love about what’s most familiar to us.

When the Moon is in Cancer

The restlessness of the Gemini Moon gives way to an instinctive need for peace and quiet. A feeling of belonging and safety is what motivates us under this influence.
