Romance & Relationship Report
Daily Trends
The FULL MOON occurs on Wednesday, September 2nd, 2020, at 1:22 AM EDT.
Early Wednesday, the Full Moon occurs as the Sun in Virgo opposes the Moon in Pisces.
The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time – a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.
The Virgo-Pisces polarity is the service axis, and it deals with the balance between day-to-day functions and routines, physical health, and the need for order (Virgo) and vision, spiritual health, disorder, and the infinite (Pisces).
Virgo rules our personal set of tools and techniques that we use to deal with day-to-day life, while Pisces rules the tools that we use to deal with our spirituality.
The key to balance lies in identifying and expressing our spiritual needs while maintaining order in our everyday lives. Neglecting either end of the axis will surely backfire–we would either be living in chaos or in excessive order.
This Full Moon harmonizes tightly with Uranus, suggesting an easy acceptance of change and progress now. Even so, it occurs just as Venus applies to an opposition to Saturn, suggesting some interpersonal challenges that contribute to fueling our discoveries, epiphanies, and realizations now.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 10 degrees and 12 minutes of Pisces, affecting people with personal planets and points at approximately 6 to 14 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) most significantly.

This week: The Sun is in Virgo; Mercury is in Virgo until September 5th when it enters Libra; Venus is in Cancer; Mars is in Aries.
The Sun is in Virgo from August 22-September 22. Our focus shifts to the pieces of the puzzle–the little details of our lives. It is now time to take care of practical concerns. Tending to the details of everyday life may not sound like loads of fun, but it can certainly free us from unnecessary stress that results from “collecting” odds and ends of unfinished business. This is an ideal time to get organized, to do detail work, and to improve communications on the job.
Mercury is in Virgo from August 19-September 5. We value precision in speech, thought, and process. This is a time when we analyze and discriminate between what we deem useful or impractical. Mercury feels right at home in Virgo, one of the signs that it rules. Dealing with details is natural and easy now. We need to be careful that we don’t lose perspective if we find ourselves lost in detail. We should also be aware of the possibility of expressing ourselves in an overly factual manner, so much so that we come across as dry, critical, or unimaginative.
Mercury is in Libra from September 5-27. When Mercury is in Libra, we are diplomatic and friendly. During this cycle, we are able to bring a more rational approach to one-to-one relationships. It’s a good time to think about ways of improving our negotiation skills. In an attempt to see both sides of any given situation, Mercury in Libra can be a vacillating energy. It can be more challenging than usual to make quick decisions, as we can sit “on the fence”. We may too easily accommodate others’ opinions in order to keep the peace. In our negotiations, we don’t want to assert ourselves in such a way as to appear to be the “bad guy.” However, this is a good period for considering others’ points of view. We are more inclined to arrive at fair conclusions.
Venus is in Cancer from August 7-September 6. In Cancer, Venus is nurturing, protective and self-protective, cautious, and fertile. We experience many emotional ups and downs in love under this influence due to increased sensitivity and impressionability. We are tender, romantic, and attached. Cancer love is dedicated, warm, and devoted. We show our love through our devotion, care, and concern. We are affectionate and cuddly, and we’re at our best when we feel safe and secure.
Mars is in Aries from June 27, 2020, to January 6, 2021. [This is longer than usual due to the retrograde of Mars from September 9-November 13, 2020.] Mars feels at home in one of the signs that it rules, Aries, and therefore its power is boosted. Our energy is spontaneous, forward-looking, and even courageous under this influence. Our competitive spirit is well-developed, and our goal is to win! We are active, single-minded, and confident. Our actions are direct–we instinctively find the fastest way to get from point A to point B. The shadow side of Mars in Aries is a tendency to be impatient, arrogant, impulsive, short-lived, unreflective, and self-centered.
Jupiter entered Capricorn on December 2nd, 2019, and will transit the sign until December 19th, 2020. Read more about the Jupiter in Capricorn transit.
Saturn has returned to the sign of Capricorn in retrograde motion (early July). In 2020, Saturn divides its time between the signs of Capricorn and Aquarius. Saturn transits Capricorn until March 21, 2020; and then finishes up its transit from July 1 to December 17, 2020. Read about Saturn’s transit through Capricorn here. Saturn transits Aquarius from March 21 to July, 1, 2020, and then later, from December 17, 2020, to March 7, 2023. Read about Saturn’s transit of Aquarius.
Uranus is in Taurus. Uranus transits Taurus May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and then from March 6th, 2019, until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle. There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Cancer from August 7-September 6. We treat lovers with sympathy and tenderness, providing the emotional nurturing they need. We tend to “play it safe” when it comes to relationships. Love and devotion are most important to us, providing us with a sense of inner security. We seek a deep love in which we can merge souls and personalities with our lover. We are devoted and seek familiarity, but we might be possessive, manipulative, or stifling. Our fear of rejection is overdeveloped, and we offer our hearts cautiously as a result. We pay more attention to our lovers’ feelings than their words. We feel threatened if a lover acts in an impersonal, overly independent, or detached manner. Safe and solid relationships are more appealing. Romantic and emotional hurts are very hard to forget.
In Cancer, Venus is nurturing, protective and self-protective, cautious, and fertile. We experience many emotional ups and downs in love under this influence due to increased sensitivity and impressionability. We are tender, romantic, and attached. We show our love through our devotion, care, and concern. We are at our best when we feel safe and secure.
This week: Early Sunday, the 30th, buried fears and resentments in our relationships can bubble up and demand attention. It’s a period of intense feelings, as well as possible emotional distress and tension caused by romantic troubles or social manipulation. Fears of betrayal may get the best of us. However, it’s a strong time for getting in touch with problem areas that may have been undermining us and our relationships. Although this can be purging, troubles can emerge in disruptive ways and mindfulness can help. On Tuesday and Wednesday (September 1-2), a Venus-Saturn opposition occurs around the time of a Full Moon, and interpersonal challenges are magnified. They can feel larger than life. This transit can point to the need to be mature in love. We are assessing our relationships from a practical standpoint. We may feel inhibited when it comes to expressing our feelings. This can be a time when May-December romances are prominent. We can also be especially sensitive to what’s being communicated now.
More tension is likely on Thursday and Friday. Our needs and desires seem to clash now, which can lead to some friction. Disagreements are possible with differences and contrasts standing out more than usual. There can be a real discrepancy between values and desires, and passions run high. Be wary of making impulse purchases and relationship decisions under these conditions. By Friday, we’re ready to talk things through and compromise. We’re inclined to believe that clarifications are the key to better compatibility.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Cancer Mothering (or being mothered), sympathy, a yearning to put down roots, and a fondness for things that have stood the test of time – these are some of the hallmarks of the phase that now begins in your life. Romantic and social experiences, as well as artistic tastes, will show evidence of these factors.
Venus trine Neptune August 27. We perceive romantic situations as if they were “designed” just for us. A magical, romantic time. The pleasures of life are experienced fully. Romance is highly favored. We see the very best in people now, and this eases our interactions and takes the pressure off in personal relationships.
Venus opposition Pluto August 29-30. This is a period of intense feelings, as well as possible emotional distress and tension caused by romantic troubles or social manipulation. An experience of being used or abused may cause us suffering or disappointment. Sexually driven emotions are likely now. Fears of betrayal may get the best of us.
Venus opposition Saturn September 1-2. We keep others at arm’s length, unsure of whether we are loved or not. This is a somewhat inhibiting influence when it appears that people value utility over true love. An element of seriousness permeates our love relationships. We may feel criticized and inhibited, unloved and unsatisfied, but our worst enemies may be ourselves and our own fears of getting close to others.
Venus square Mars September 3-4. Passions run high under this influence. Sexual tensions and competitiveness are possible, and there can be conflicts that arise from distinct differences between romantic and sexual needs. There is an air of competitiveness under this influence, which need not be difficult. It can be stimulating, creative, passionate, and invigorating.
Venus sextile Mercury September 4. Favors playfulness in love and enhanced communication between partners. Romantic overtures, expressions of love and affection, making new social contacts. This is a time when promises, pledges, and clarifications (usually very positive!) are made in love relationships.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Tuesday, September 1st, from 12:57 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Mars), until the Moon enters Pisces at 5:35 AM EDT.
VOC Moon on Thursday, September 3rd, from 10:35 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Venus), until the Moon enters Aries at 4:23 PM EDT.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Venus opposition Pluto. An intense emotional or sexual attraction, a very revealing, intimate encounter, or a powerful desire to be close to and share our deepest feelings with someone is very likely now. Emotions and issues in a close relationship that have been brewing beneath the surface for quite awhile come to the surface at this time, possibly in a very disruptive way. All of our relationships intensify and we need to be aware of a tendency to act in a rather compulsive, demanding way towards others. This is an “all or nothing” energy. Manipulative behavior, fear of betrayal, and power struggles are possible.
Sun sesquiquadrate Pluto. A tendency to want to control our lives through some form of manipulation is strong during this influence. Meeting with obstacles in our paths, however, can force us into the position of using all of our resources to fight back, and we can discover resources we never knew we had in the process.
Mercury opposition Neptune. We are mentally lazy, finding that our minds wander when presented with technical facts. It’s hard to get solid answers from others, and we can too easily misrepresent ourselves. Avoid signing contracts or formalizing agreements. There can be misunderstandings, misinformation, wishful thinking, confusion, some depression, carelessness, and deception. Our thinking may be self-defeating.
Sun quincunx Chiron. Doubting ourselves and our effectiveness, as well as guilt for not facing important issues, can subtly undermine our confidence under this influence. Self-expression can be choppy and unnatural as a result.
Mercury trine Pluto. Our mental faculties are attuned to otherworldly impressions, offering us increased insight, psychological understanding and awareness, and focused attention.
Venus opposition Saturn. Not a good influence for financial endeavors. Burdens are magnified.
Venus square Mars. Passions run high under this influence. Sexual tensions and competitiveness are possible, and there can be conflicts that arise from differences between romantic and sexual needs. Be wary of making impulse purchases. There is an air of competitiveness under this influence, which need not be difficult. It can be stimulating, creative, and invigorating.

AUGUST 30
The Moon spends the day in the sign of Aquarius. With the morning’s Venus-Pluto opposition, we’re confronting areas of our lives where we’re holding onto something too tightly for fear of losing it. We may experience confrontations or events that bring complicated feelings and fears to a head. We may be making uncomfortable discoveries, and while some of these can be ultimately helpful, we may be pushing too far for answers right now. We should watch for manipulative behavior that can arise from insecurities or fear of betrayal. However, a Mercury-Neptune opposition occurs this afternoon, which can introduce some confusion. We might see others in an unrealistic light, and discrepancies can emerge that challenge our thinking. Concentrating on technical facts can be difficult. If our minds are wandering, it may be that we have neglected to “feed” our imaginations recently. We should watch for misrepresenting ourselves, overlooking critical practical details, and thoughts that are self-defeating. Even so, this can be a good time for stretching our thinking to dream up possibilities we might miss on a regular day.
AUGUST 31
With an Aquarius Moon all day, we are attracted to the unusual, extraordinary, and unconventional. Independence, equality, and freedom are vital to feeling emotionally satisfied with this position of the Moon. However, the Sun’s quincunx to Chiron this morning can stimulate some self-doubt or guilt about not dealing with problems head-on. Self-expression may be choppy and unnatural as a result. Dealing with doubt and guilt today can help clear the path for opportunities. As the day advances, we approach a Mercury-Pluto trine, offering us increased insight, psychological understanding and awareness, and focused attention. We seek out the hidden message now. It’s a good time to devise strategies and make observations. We are especially good at solving problems and getting to the bottom line.
SEPTEMBER 1
Mercury forms a trine to Pluto this morning, and we’re in good shape for profound insight, psychological understanding, awareness, and focused attention. We seek out the hidden message and draw upon our powers of persuasion. The Moon continues its transit of Aquarius until 5:35 AM EDT when it enters Pisces. The Pisces Moon is understanding and somewhat escapist. As the day advances, a Venus-Saturn opposition comes into influence (it’s exact tomorrow morning). Negative feedback or blockage can slow us down–ideally only enough to pace ourselves or adjust our expectations. A Full Moon will occur early tomorrow, and this serves to heighten our feelings. We may be coming to important realizations today and tomorrow.
The void Moon occurs from 12:57 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Mars), until the Moon enters Pisces at 5:35 AM EDT.
SEPTEMBER 2
The Moon spends the day in Pisces, and a Full Moon occurs in the sign early today at 1:23 AM EDT. This lunation challenges us to identify and express our spiritual needs while maintaining order in our everyday lives. Illumination of a dream or a desire to find more meaning in our lives can figure strongly now. It’s important to avoid looking for salvation through a relationship, person, project, or business. We may be putting too-high expectations on these things when we should be looking within for happiness. The Venus-Saturn opposition this morning reminds us of our responsibilities, which can temporarily feel more burdensome than usual. Financial limitations may make themselves known, or burdens of our debts or obligations to others magnify. We may need to pay the piper, or if we’ve been overdoing pleasures, we now need to catch up on our duties. Burdens, lack, limitations, and problems can loom larger than usual under the Venus-Saturn influence, particularly regarding love, pleasure, and finances. A trine between the Sun and Uranus, however, encourages us to embrace change and progress. This transit helps loosen things up. We might make some changes or discoveries, and our willingness to take a few creative risks and experiment may be the key to success.
SEPTEMBER 3
Mercury forms a trine to Saturn very early today, helping us ground and center our thoughts and communications. Conversations may be spare but instructive. It’s a good time for systematic thinking and a step-by-step approach to tasks and problems. The Moon continues its transit of Pisces until 4:23 PM EDT when it moves into Aries. While the Pisces Moon is compassionate and meandering, the Moon in Aries demands more definition or action. We want to start fresh. A Venus-Mars square, exact tomorrow morning, comes into play today, and we can feel some tension or dissatisfaction. This transit can awaken many urges and desires, but most may only be whims or distractions. Disagreements are possible with differences and contrasts standing out more than usual. A passive or soft approach may irritate, but an aggressive approach can be grating, too–we seem to have poor timing. We can be temperamental and sensitive. What we value and what we desire can be at odds. Ideally, discontent prompts creative improvements and changes.
The void Moon occurs from 10:35 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Venus), until the Moon enters Aries at 4:23 PM EDT.
SEPTEMBER 4
Today’s Aries Moon is typically direct and action-oriented. However, the planetary ruler of Aries, Mars, is forming tense aspects today, and it may not be easy to get in touch with what we desire or where we stand. If we do know what we want, how to get it can be in question. Mercury and the Sun form minor challenging aspects to the fiery planet, and if we’re out of touch with our desires, our expression is choppy or misrepresentative. Even so, Mercury forms a sextile to Venus, encouraging cooperation and agreement. This transit facilitates compromises, negotiations, and clarification of feelings. We can feel moved to present our ideas or romantic overtures, teach, guide, and make deals. We’re inclined to verbalize or analyze our feelings and relationships.
SEPTEMBER 5
Mercury enters Libra today and will transit the sign until the 27th. We are diplomatic and friendly during this cycle, and we bring a more rational approach to one-to-one relationships. It’s an excellent time to improve our negotiation skills. In an attempt to see both sides of any given situation, Mercury in Libra can be vacillating energy. It can be more challenging than usual to make quick decisions, as we can sit “on the fence.” We may too easily accommodate others’ opinions to keep the peace. However, this is a good period for considering others’ points of view and coming to reasonable conclusions. The Moon spends the day in the sign of Aries, however, and we can be in an independent, self-starting frame of mind.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Aquarius
Attraction to all that is new and unusual, and an instinctive need for improvement, characterize the Moon in Aquarius. Reactions are more intellectual than emotional, and interactions are more impersonal than personal, under this influence. This is a time that promotes social gatherings, dealing with group ideals and goals for the future, brainstorming, new ideas, and progressive changes. We are open to new methods of doing things and we have our eye on the future. It can be hard to stick to schedules now, as personal freedom is most important to us.
The Moon in Aquarius generally favors the following activities: Unusual or radical undertakings, social pursuits, group projects, trying something new, joining a group.
When the Moon is in Pisces
We may not want to face reality while the Moon is in dreamy, impressionable Pisces. It can be a wistful, sensitive, intuitive, and compassionate time. We are especially imaginative, and our intuition reigns under this influence. Boundaries and walls come down, as Pisces energy merges and blends. It's a time when details are overlooked and feelings defy description.
The Moon in Pisces generally favors the following activities: Imaginative undertakings, mystical or spiritual pursuits, inner development, music and drama, going on a retreat, activities involving water.
When the Moon is in Aries
We're motivated by a strong desire to start fresh. A gut instinct to begin something new is with us now, as well as the gumption to do so. Our pioneering impulses are strong, and we feel energetic, spontaneous, and enthusiastic. We may also be tactless and impulsive now. Excess energy is best channeled into physical activity.
People can be more self-motivated and also self-focused while the Moon is in Aries. It's a competitive rather than cooperative time. Accidents and tempers flaring are more likely than usual. This period is one of more personal courage.
The Moon in Aries generally favors the following activities: Quick actions that yield immediate results. Undertakings that involve the self and the personality. (Staying power may be lacking). Self-assertion, taking on challenges, beginning short-term projects.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Virgo You’re coming into a new cycle centered on taking what you know and what you’ve got and then making the most of it in the real world. Assimilating information and experience, learning lessons and putting them into practice – that’s the focus as this cycle unfolds. It’s a time for prudence and stewardship, a time to tend to the details. You probably already have the grand ideals and visions: now you must get your hands dirty with the bricks and mortar and your mind busy with putting it all together.
Mercury in Virgo Mental discipline and patience are keynoted as you enter into a new cycle. Thinking things through, accounting for all the details, making careful measurements: these and similar experiences keep your mind active and involved. An interest in health and work may come to the fore.
Mercury in Libra A new cycle begins for you, signaling a greater than usual interest in relationships, social connections, and the arts – on a more intellectual level than in the past, most likely. Seeing both sides of an issue, and figuring out resolutions to opposing views: these things take on more importance in your life.
Mars in Aries Fresh challenges and initiatives light your fires now, as a new cycle begins in your life – lots of energy, a powerful urge to be first or come out on top. Away with the old and on to the new – let no one and nothing stand between you and your objective! Headstrong impulses and rash courage can take you far … sometimes in harm’s way, if you’re not careful.
Jupiter in Capricorn Respect, status, and achievement are central goals for you as a new phase begins in your life. Creating a structure to empower and maintain your ideals and principles becomes a high priority, an article of faith. By taking on greater responsibilities of this kind, you become an inspiration to others. Ambition unlimited always ends in defeat.
Saturn in Capricorn Responsibility, hard work, ambition, and achievement: these are the foundations you need to build on now, as a new cycle dawns in your life. And yet, there is a tendency to be a little too hard, perhaps a bit cold, in your approach to these things. Let ambition take you to the top, but don’t let it lull you into thinking that the end justifies the means.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone, and everyone in their place…
