2020: Aquarius Horoscope: Love, Career, & General Trends
Aquarius (All):
Note This is where the summary of the year resides; more details are below!
There has been a tremendous focus on a private, background sector of your solar chart, dear Aquarius. While this theme does continue and, in some ways, intensifies, there is a distinct shift happening throughout 2020 that brings things out into the light! All of this translates to increasingly more clarity in your life.
The area of focus in question rules your subconscious, private life, dream world, intuition, attachment to the past, sorrows, endings, karma, and reckoning. Big players transiting this area of your chart are in the background, working undercover, and nudging you to deal with matter you’ve ignored, swept under the carpet, or left unfinished.
This is also an area of our charts where we uncover hidden talents and strengths, not only areas of liability. Essentially, you’re seeking closure so that you can move forward, and while the “moving forward” part comes full bloom in 2021, everything is starting this year. You’re discovering areas that have been holding you back–where you feel bound or stuck–and with this awareness, you’ll find ways to put things behind you that belong in the past.
As such, in some ways, you may feel as if you are on a precipice or perhaps stuck in a place of limbo and on the verge of something that you can’t quite define at times in 2020. However, the major difference this year compared to recent years is that you see a way forward.
For one, Jupiter is now in your solar twelfth house, showing you the benefits and yes, even the joy, of reflection, private moments, and putting an end to outdated attitudes or situations in your life. For another, Saturn is on its way out of this area of your chart and into your sign. Saturn’s transit of your sign is not expected to a walk in the park, but it does help bring more clarity, purpose, and structure into your life–the very things that have been lacking and sometimes bringing you down as a result in recent years.
Jupiter transits a sign for approximately a year every twelve years or so. It’s a transit that we usually look forward to since it tends to alleviate pressures and open us up to new possibilities and opportunities. This time around, Jupiter enters your sign just two days after Saturn enters Aquarius in December for the long haul.
As such, the entire time Jupiter is in your sign, Saturn is there as well. While Jupiter expands, Saturn constricts. Fortunately, even though these planets have many opposite functions, they tend to work together quite well. In fact, they may be considered a power team. You can feel particularly productive and effective from mid-December forward. You can find much pleasure and joy in exercising more self-discipline and initiative. Your efforts to discipline yourself or structure your life can be satisfying and rewarding.
Until then, there is quite a bit of inner work or preparation to do, and you have Jupiter helping you on these fronts this year. You are putting a burden behind you. While your efforts to understand the things that have been holding you back from your new beginnings have not always been straightforward, 2020 makes it all the easier. Guilt, worry, fear, insecurity…these things have a way of accumulating over the years, and they can hold you back. It’s your job to identify, work through, and release these kinds of crippling emotions this year. Fortunately, Jupiter is giving you a helping hand in this regard.
Self-discovery is a powerful theme this year, and it will blossom further next year. Another theme that will be with you more fully in 2021, but that’s beginning this year, relates to your social life, friendships, romantic relationships, your pursuit of pleasure and happiness, and creative output. You’re discovering unique ways to express and enjoy yourself.
Uranus continues to shake up your personal or domestic world. Changes on the home front, with family, or with living arrangements or conditions are a continued theme. Even so, Uranus is not a big player in 2020, mostly going its own way, and these changes may not be quite as prominent as they’re likely to have been/be in recent or coming years. There is a super interaction between Uranus and the North Node and planets in your work-and-health sector, suggesting a better work-home balance, the chance to work from or on the home with success, or more support and involvement from loved ones regarding work and routines.
You may frequently feel as if you’re on the cusp of something great this year, Aquarius, and you are! Patience will benefit you greatly now as you prepare and plan in 2020.

Key Events in 2020 for Aquarius:
Outer Planet Transits:
Saturn conjunct Pluto in January. This aspect can bring pressure to succeed and achieve. You may be tearing something down so that you can rebuild it to be better, more appropriate, or more relevant. Since this alignment happens in your privacy sector, this is likely to occur within, behind the scenes, or in the background of your life, Aquarius. Your inner world, dreams, attitude toward the past, and dealings with end cycles can go through a reworking, regenesis, and transformation. You may be cutting out something that has kept you weighed down or in limbo. Fortunately, you have some wonderful transits with you for rebuilding, as follows:
Jupiter sextile Neptune from February to October. This transit helps us maintain a sense of proportion and to consider our morals and spiritual values as we pursue our objectives. It’s a time for connecting with idealistic and humanitarian goals, making connections with people from vastly different backgrounds than us and learning from their perspectives, and otherwise widening our experiences and broadening our minds.
For Aquarius, you’re looking at finances, self-worth, your talents, and resources in new ways. You’re more imaginative, ready to consider potentials and possibilities. It’s a time of increased personal meaning and purpose on an emotional level, as well as through your relationship with your practical world, resources, money, business, and belongings. You can find imaginative and inspired ways to boost your self-image, finances, or income at this time. If you’ve had tricky problems with money, there can be solutions this year.
This influence is excellent for improving your psychic sensitivity, powers of perception, and understanding of what you truly want and value. It can be a time of increased generosity and hospitality. A stronger interest in spirituality is possible.
Jupiter conjunct Pluto from March to November. This influence magnifies our ambitions to better ourselves or our circumstances. We can be doggedly determined to make improvements. We might also take things too far with this combination, and occurring in the sign of Capricorn, this can relate to power. As long as we channel our intense ambitions appropriately, this can be a powerful period for achievement. You want to take something to a completely new level. Whichever way we define success at this time in our lives, we’re ready to do what it takes to achieve it. There is a real sense that we can achieve something of significance now. We might focus this energy on an important project or focus it inward–on bettering ourselves through greater self-understanding. Overcoming obstacles can figure strongly during this transit.
For you, Aquarius, you’re getting to a better place of self-understanding and learning about desires you never quite knew–or admitted to yourself–you had. While the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in January asked you to cut out inauthentic pursuits from your life, Jupiter-Pluto now helps you rebuild better systems. You can be determined to cut out an attachment or resolve a problem that has hung in your aura and kept you from claiming your happiness. Lifestyle changes can be significant. Most of your renovations and improvements are going on under the hood–they’re inward changes, not completely obvious to others but important to you nonetheless.
Jupiter conjunct Saturn in December. This transit brings you much power to start fresh regarding your personal identity, image, health, and personal presentation. It’s a time for taking a realistic look at your capabilities. It’s a strong month for building yourself up, paying special attention to health and body, simplifying your image if needed, and attending to the practical side of your life. What you begin now and in the coming year can very well be significant and long-term, although it’s only just beginning and not necessarily overt as of yet.
A selection of interesting transits:
Mars conjunct Jupiter/Pluto and then Venus trine Jupiter/Pluto in the second half of March. An opportunity period for your personal life, emotional orientation or outlook, family, and home. You have great initiative and motivation to overcome obstacles and to make significant changes. You’re patient and strategic, and most importantly, confident.
Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn all turn retrograde from May 11 to 15. Venus is retrograde in the sign of Gemini from May 12 to June 25. Venus hangs around its square to Neptune in May. At the time of the inferior conjunction, retro Venus is square Mars in early June, and then a Lunar eclipse occurs in Sagittarius. Some things seem to go on hold at this time, and they’re likely related to entertainment, dating, romance, creativity, hobbies, or children. Some areas may lose the pleasure factor for the time being, and you or someone in your life can be rethinking a matter. It’s time to backtrack a little. You may feel in limbo, but you can also turn to the past and reanimate something that you once left behind.
Mars is retrograde from September 9 to November 13 in the sign of Aries (pre-retrograde shadow begins July 25th). Slowdowns, reparations, and reconsiderations are important in your studies, daily affairs, communication, or transportation. There can be weighty issues and delays to manage now. A project or course of study can feel uninspiring. Challenges with self-expression, pushing/selling your ideas, or with neighbors and siblings may occur now. Social interactions can be a little strained now, as you may feel the need to hold back or there is a lack of usual spontaneity in your communications. There can be frustration with daily routines. It’s time to rethink, revise, and reorganize your plans. Backtracking is a good idea. In fact, this is a strong time for making important edits of work already in progress.
Mars square Jupiter-Saturn-Pluto from August to December. Challenges with communications, education, or transportation can be ongoing or intermittent now, but you also get the chance to iron things out and improve them.

There are some interesting developments for you this year, dear Aquarius. Every year, we see challenges and opportunities in different areas. It’s my hope that understanding these areas of potential disruption and ease that you can make the most of these trends by seeking out the opportunities and managing the challenges.
Aquarians are progressive yet loyal. They are not afraid to break from tradition if it doesn’t serve a good purpose. However, there is some need to structure your life or return to basics in some manner with Saturn moving into your sign for a transit that will cumulatively last about three years. In 2020, Saturn moves into Aquarius on May 11th, leaves it and retreats into Capricorn on July 1st, and then returns to Aquarius for a more consistent stay on December 17th.
The following chart shows the outer planets and other points in relation to your sign, revealing whether they are harmonizing with or challenging Aquarius:

Overview: Harmony and Challenge of Outer Planets:
2020 finds many outer planets and bodies in the sign just behind yours, dear Aquarius, but some are emerging out of this background area, entering your sign–namely, Jupiter, the planet of expansion, luck, and opportunity, and Saturn, the planet of discipline, simplicity, and structure. As a result, you can feel as if you’re emerging out of the background in a symbolic sense this year, and in many ways, you’re starting fresh.
Pluto will remain in the background of your solar chart for a while longer, suggesting there is further work to do on getting closure in your life, but for the most part, 2020 is a year in which you’re on the verge of something brand new, and that “something” for many Aquarians is a new personal presentation, attitude, and initiative.
Uranus is the only outer planet that’s actively challenging you in 2020. Interestingly, Uranus is one of your ruling planets. This does point to a need to make changes to your home or domestic world and living conditions or arrangements, which can be occasionally disruptive, but ultimately liberating. With a growing focus on personality development and structuring your life this year, surprises on the homefront can sometimes challenge you, but you’re on the road to major improvements.
