2020: Capricorn Horoscope: Love, Career, & General Trends
Capricorn (All):
Note: This is where the summary of the year resides; more details are below!
There is a tremendous focus on your sign this year, dear Capricorn, although one of the major players in your life in recent years (Saturn) is phasing out of your sign. There may be a fall or fresh start before you rise again this year with Saturn and Pluto coming into alignment in Capricorn in January, and then Jupiter with Pluto for the better part of 2020. In some areas of life, and quite possibly regarding your personal presentation or sense of independence, you’re breaking something down before you rebuild it.
Jupiter visits your sign most of the year 2020, and it’s a good indication that while you continue to make serious efforts to change and improve your life, you’re feeling more confident and joyful about doing so! This is the kind of year that defines before/after divisions. It can be a period of a brand-new venture that has massive long-term potential. It may also be a time when you’re bringing a whole new “you” to the world.
Interestingly, while Jupiter and Saturn both transit your sign this year, they don’t officially meet until they’ve both moved on to the following sign, Aquarius, in December. As such, there can be quite a lengthy buildup, but ultimately, the new beginnings in your life may be more about business and money for you than they are about personality. This is not to say that personality development isn’t a huge focus in 2020, because it is, but that you’re going past it, moving on, and focusing on building your life up around you and your sparkling “new” personality.
This is a powerful year for making positive lifestyle changes, friendships and connections, and for expressing yourself more confidently. Personal initiative is strong, and bettering yourself can be the focus. You may be working on healing any self-image issues or problems with presenting yourself with confidence. A newer theme also runs through the year–one in which you are discovering yourself creatively or through romantic connections. You are finding the time to pursue recreation, entertainment, hobbies, pastimes, or dating, and it’s a powerful diversion. You seem attracted to unusual avenues for self-expression, play, and enjoyment. Projects, studies, or pastimes are more fulfilling this year.
There is a shift of focus occurring gradually as the year progresses, and it’s about building your resources, budgeting, paying more attention to daily routines, and boosting your health by rounding out your life in simple ways.
Challenges on the home front are possible if you feel too confined or stifled. Renovating even in the smallest ways–or on the emotional plane–is in order, and they can do you a world of good. This effort is going to take some time as Mars rewinds in your home-and-family sector in the second half of the year, but the rewards are great. Think in terms of improving your relationship with your home, family, and inner self, and recognize that with some work and perhaps a bit of backtracking, you can get where you want to go.
There has been a strong theme regarding close relationships and the discovery of your independence in recent years, and this is wrapping by mid-2020. There can be new or severed relationships for many Capricorns with this development, and in 2020, decisions seem to be made, and you’re moving forward!
You are also bound to find the time to express yourself in new ways. If you’ve ever been told you’re lacking imagination–or if you identified as not particularly creative–this is a year for discovering that you’ve been pegged all wrong. It’s all about feeling free enough to let your creativity loose, and there are a couple of supportive influences with you for much of the year that help you do just that.
Love requires more freedom, spontaneity, or openness this year. Repeating the same old patterns is not going to work in 2020. Friendship is a key theme even in romantic relationships this year, and it requires a bit of a departure from tradition. Sometimes, it can mean letting a partner take the lead. You seem to be drawing different people into your orbit than you’re accustomed to attracting–a whole new crowd, in fact. You’re also more experimental with recreation, creative expression, and hobbies or entertainment, and it’s an enriching experience.

Key Events in 2020 for Capricorn:
Outer Planet Transits:
Saturn conjunct Pluto in January. This aspect can bring pressure to succeed and achieve. You may be tearing something down so that you can rebuild it to be better, more appropriate, or more relevant. Since this alignment happens in your sign, this transit is more personal than it is for others! You may be working diligently on building your health, a personal project, your independence, or a solo initiative/venture. Your mannerisms, image, and identity can go through a reworking of sorts as you approach the world differently, and others see you in new ways.
Jupiter sextile Neptune from February to October. This transit helps us maintain a sense of proportion and to consider our morals and spiritual values as we pursue our objectives. It’s a time for connecting with idealistic and humanitarian goals, making connections with people from vastly different backgrounds than us and learning from their perspectives, and otherwise widening our experiences and broadening our minds.
With so much happening in your sign, you need this subtle boost. It’s an uplifting transit that suggests a new way of looking at your life, projects, and friends can benefit you greatly. While this year is about going hard, this transit helps you find moments to detox, relax, and enjoy yourself. It also reminds you of the value of feeding your spirit, imagination, or romantic needs alongside your more worldly pursuits. It’s a time of increased personal meaning and purpose, particularly through your projects, studies, and contacts.
Jupiter conjunct Pluto from March to November. This influence magnifies our ambitions to better ourselves or our circumstances. We can be doggedly determined to make improvements. We might also take things too far with this combination, and 0ccurring in the sign of Capricorn, this can relate to power. As long as we channel our intense ambitions appropriately, this can be a powerful period for achievement. You want to take something to a completely new level. However we define success at this time in our lives, we’re ready to do what it takes to achieve it. There is a real sense that we can achieve something of significance now. We might focus this energy on an important project or focus it inward–on bettering ourselves through greater self-understanding. Overcoming obstacles can figure strongly during this transit.
For you, Capricorn, you’re striving toward autonomy, driven to improve your circumstances, and seeking prosperity with determination. You’re embracing desires you never quite knew–or admitted to yourself–you had. While the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in January asked you to cut out inauthentic paths from your life, Jupiter-Pluto now helps you rebuild and reinvent yourself. Your confidence fairly bursts as you pursue your personal objectives and present yourself in a new and improved way.
Jupiter conjunct Saturn in December. This transit brings you much power to start fresh regarding your finances, income, talents, or resources. It’s a time for taking a realistic look at what you can do, assessing and surveying things, and then pursuing what you feel is your due. It’s a strong time for business pursuits, savings plans, and budgets. What you begin now and in the coming year can very well be significant and long-term.
Significant minor transits:
Mars conjunct Jupiter/Pluto and then Venus trine Jupiter/Pluto in the second half of March. An opportunity period for creative projects, relationships, career, and money matters. You have a strong desire to make something unique and special, or to connect in creative ways. It’s an excellent period for your charisma, sense of enterprise, and initiative.
Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn all turn retrograde from May 11 to 15. Venus is retrograde in the sign of Gemini from May 12 to June 25. Venus hangs around its square to Neptune in May. At the time of the inferior conjunction, retro Venus is square Mars in early June, and then a Lunar eclipse occurs in Sagittarius. Life can feel a bit like drudgery during this period. Daily chores, routines, and tasks can weigh on you, perhaps losing quite a bit of the pleasure factor, and you may be going back over old projects, encountering mistakes that need fixing and delays that keep you in limbo.
Mars is retrograde from September 9 to November 13 in the sign of Aries (pre-retrograde shadow begins July 25th). Slowdowns, reparations, and reconsiderations are important in your personal life, with the home, or regarding family. There can be weighty issues and delays to manage in your domestic world. Loved ones may not be as patient with you, or you with them.
Mars square Jupiter-Saturn-Pluto from August to December. Challenges from the domestic camp are ongoing now, but you get the chance to resolve conflicts after confronting the issues.

Overview: Harmony and Challenge of Outer Planets:
Jupiter transits your sign for most of the year, and this transit occurs only once every 12 or so years. It does come at a time when Saturn is still in Capricorn for most of the year, although it’s phasing out. This means that you may not feel quite as free and light as you would in another year when Jupiter visits Capricorn. However, it’s a power year for getting things done.
So, while Saturn continues for much of the year to be your personal trainer, this influence is on its way out in 2020, and Jupiter is now helping you feel good about your efforts to get your life into shape.
This continues to be a time of increased personal responsibilities, attention to detail, and efforts to maintain and improve health and personal affairs. You are challenged to become more efficient regarding energy levels and time management.
Pluto, of course, is a long-term guest in your sign. Its transit challenges you to change, grow, and improve, and with Jupiter often transiting neck-and-neck with Pluto in 2020, you’re likely to love the whole process.
Uranus and Neptune harmonizing with your sign boost you on the levels of inspiration and dreams. These transits help lighten up what is often a heavy-energy year. While many transits this year can serve to highlight your lone-wolf qualities, these boosts keep you feeling spirited and supported–they round things out a little better.
Chiron and, until May, the North Node, are the only challenging outer bodies, and they point to some discomfort, conflicts, and clashes, but nothing you can’t handle. Your ideas are not always flowing along with those of the mainstream this year. Family and home life can need some sorting.
