The LAST QUARTER MOON occurs on Saturday, June 13, 2020, at 2:24 AM EDT.
Early Saturday, the Last Quarter Moon is exact when the Sun in Gemini forms a square with the Moon in Pisces. The Last Quarter Moon phase points to a crisis of consciousness of sorts. After basking in the awareness symbolized by the full light of the Moon at the time of last week’s Full Moon, we disperse our knowledge and come to a point when we need to sort out what works for us–and what doesn’t–in preparation for next week’s New Moon, when something new is born once again.
This is not the best time to start a major project, as the decreasing light of the Moon symbolizes descent into unconsciousness. It’s time to begin finishing up the details of that which was conceived at the last New Moon. We might consider our recent revelations and process what they mean to us.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 22 degrees and 42 minutes of Pisces square the Sun at 22 degrees and 42 minutes of Gemini, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 21 to 25 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) most significantly.

This week: The Sun is in Gemini; Mercury is in Cancer; Venus is in Gemini; Mars is in Pisces.
The Sun is in Gemini from May 20-June 20. Knowledge and diversity motivate us with the Sun in Gemini. We are more sociable, intellectual, and insatiably curious under this influence. We tend to scatter our energies as a result of this curiosity and awareness of all of our options. We are more communicative and versatile, but we can also be unreliable.
Mercury is in Cancer from May 28-August 4. [This is longer than usual due to Mercury’s retrograde from June 18-July 12.] When Mercury is in Cancer, we move from the desire for quantity to the need for quality in terms of the information we are attracted to. We think, speak, and take in information on a deeper, more instinctive level now. We have less interest in what is universal, and more interest in what affects us personally and what affects the people around us. Our thoughts are colored by our emotions, so it is more challenging to be objective.
Venus is in Gemini from April 3-August 7. In Gemini, we have a finger in every pie. Curiosity motivates us on romantic and social levels. “Variety is the spice of life” is the attitude now. We are sociable, communicative, and interested. We can be animated and fun but may also keep our distance on an emotional level. Attractions now may begin with words, as we tend to bond more readily on a mental level with Venus in Gemini. The shadow side of Gemini is fickleness.
Mars is in Pisces from May 13-June 27. We tend to feel less motivated to go after traditional goals, and more motivated to pursue spiritual or emotional drives during this cycle. We dislike confrontation during this trend. Our output is variable rather than straightforward, and our energy is similarly up and down. We may put others’ needs ahead of our own, and our more idealistic side comes to the fore. During this cycle, going after what we want becomes less straightforward and more complicated!
Jupiter entered Capricorn on December 2nd, 2019, and will transit the sign until December 19th, 2020. Read more about the Jupiter in Capricorn transit.
In 2020, Saturn divides its time between the signs of Capricorn and Aquarius. Saturn transits Capricorn until March 21, 2020; and then finishes up its transit from July 1 to December 17, 2020. Read about Saturn’s transit through Capricorn here. Saturn transits Aquarius from March 21 to July, 1, 2020, and then later, from December 17, 2020, to March 7, 2023.
Uranus is in Taurus. Uranus first transited Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and is consistently in the sign (since March 6th, 2019) until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle. There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Gemini from April 3-August 7. In Gemini, Venus is communicative, sociable but emotionally aloof, insatiably curious, and a little bit flighty. Fickleness with our affections is a strong possibility, but the desire for a meeting of minds is strong and the urge to socialize dominates. Some detachment from our emotions is likely, which may be a breath of fresh air for some. The lines of communication open, although we may only scratch the surface of things. Under this influence, love is playful and lighthearted. Fickleness is the shadow side of Venus in Gemini.
This week: Venus turned retrograde on May 13th, and things are changing. Venus-ruled endeavors, such as money, beauty, art, romance, and pleasure, become a little heavier, more prone to reassessment, review, and perhaps delay or a period of limbo. This Venus retrograde cycle lasts until June 25th, and is a period in which we reevaluate or review our love life as well as the manner in which we receive, reveal, and express our affections. Thoughts turn to the past so that we can lay to rest unhealthy habits in these areas of life.
With Venus retrograde in Gemini, we may question how much daily involvement and both the quality and quantity of our communications in our relationships. Read more about Venus retrograde in Gemini from May 13-June 25, 2020.
This week, we’re beyond the midpoint of the Venus retrograde cycle. On Monday and Tuesday, we’re optimistic and ready to take a chance or give someone or something the benefit of the doubt. We are able to make the best of a situation now. Howver, it’s best to watch for overextension. It’s best not to overstate or make big promises based only on the good mood of the moment. On Wednesday and Thursday, a tendency to suspect or worry about betrayal can turn into a learning moment.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Gemini Saying (or writing) it with style comes naturally now. A yen for variety is a hallmark of this phase, and this especially applies to romantic experience and artistic tastes. (The latter tends to focus on literature in general and poetry in particular.) A sociable, congenial, slightly frivolous orientation sets in.
Venus conjunct Sun June 2-3. Good relating is the focus, although some may find this energy superficial in that surface charm, diplomacy, and harmony is the goal. The pursuit of pleasure is emphasized.
Venus parallel Sun June 3-4. A strong desire for harmony and comfort fill us now. We may be moved to express our affections.
Venus contra-parallel Pluto June 5-6. Romantic intensity, a feeling of fatedness, possessiveness, fear of betrayal, and insecurity in relationships. Questions of trust can emerge in relationships. Looking for a commitment.
Venus sesquiquadrate Jupiter June 6-7. We experience a strong desire for more pleasure in our lives, which can be excessive. Take care not to overstate your feelings or to set up unrealistic expectations in your partnerships.
Venus contra-parallel Jupiter June 8-9. We’re optimistic and ready to take a chance or give someone or something the benefit of the doubt. We are able to make the best of a situation now. Watch for overextension. It’s best not to overstate or make big promises based only on the good mood of the moment.
Venus sesquiquadrate Pluto June 10. Tendencies to look for something wrong in a relationship. Jealousy raises its ugly head.
Venus sextile Chiron June 10-11. Love has the power to heal old wounds. We are open to romantic feelings and more willing to act upon them.
Venus semi-sextile Mercury July 4-5. It may be all too easy to say things we don’t mean/feel.
Venus sesquiquadrate Jupiter July 7. We experience a strong desire for more pleasure in our lives, which can be excessive. Take care not to overstate your feelings or to set up unrealistic expectations in your partnerships.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Monday, June 8th, from 2:06 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Aquarius at 8:55 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Wednesday, June 10th, from 10:35 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to the Sun), until the Moon enters Pisces the next day, Thursday, June 11th, at 5:32 AM EDT.
VOC Moon on Saturday, June 13th, from 8:45 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Aries at 5:03 PM EDT.
June 2020:
Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
The Moon is waning this week, which is generally considered unfavorable for new beginnings, with exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details).
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs from Sunday, June 7th, at approximately 11:10 AM EDT, until Monday, June 8th, at approximately 2:00 PM EDT, while the Moon is in Capricorn. Another window occurs from Tuesday, June 9th, at approximately 2:35 PM EDT, until Wednesday, June 10th, at approximately 10:30 AM EDT, while the Moon is in Aquarius. Another window occurs on Saturday, June 13th, from approximately 3:30 AM to 8:40 AM EDT, while the Moon is in Pisces. Caveats: Venus is retrograde during these windows (Venus is retrograde until June 25th). Also, we are in between eclipses (a Lunar Eclipse occurred on the 5th and a Solar Eclipse will occur on the 21st).

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Venus sesquiquadrate Jupiter. We might take great strides to get noticed. Avoid impulsive buying. Problems in our personal life likely won’t get resolved under this influence. Avoid hasty (or haughty!) decisions. We might overstate our feelings or promise more than we can deliver, and the tendency to overdo is strong.
Venus sesquiquadrate Pluto. This influence can point to some underlying tensions in social interactions (looking for an ulterior motive and suspiciousness) and relationships (possible jealousies). Passions run hot, but there’s a hidden agenda. Feelings of jealousy and possessiveness can be brewing just under the surface of things, and they are in direct proportion to our fear of losing something or someone dear to us. Avoid starting a new relationship at this time, because it can be characterized by these energies. Sometimes, this transit correlates with heartbreak, feelings of unreciprocated love, or romantic disappointment. Often, financial matters come to the fore. Manipulation can color relationships now. Avoid power plays with friends and lovers.
Sun square Neptune. Concentrating on artistic or spiritual pursuits is better than focusing on things that require straightforward, factual thinking today. It can be difficult knowing where or how to direct your willpower under this influence. It’s also a challenge knowing where you stand with others. Avoid such things as scheduling surgery, important appointments, job interviews, or launches of new projects at this time.
Venus sextile Chiron. We have the chance to heal our personal relationships now, as we are more open to intimacy and commitment, as well as learning from one another. We more easily see beauty in human weaknesses. It’s a strong time for building trust in relationships.
Mars conjunct Neptune. Our impulses and desires may be confusing, peculiar, hard to explain, or difficult to understand now. Not content with our regular routines, we tend to crave more drama, glamour, or meaning now. Concentration on practical concerns and affairs may be lacking. We act on our intuition now, sexual fantasies are strong, we strive towards all that is boundless, and our creative impulses are potent. We are less tense and driven, and more relaxed. “What will be, will be” is the attitude now. Inspiration can be found now. This transit favors dancing, swimming, photography, arts, and entertainment.

JUNE 7
The Moon spends the day in Capricorn, and we tend to seek more order and structure in our lives. Our sense of responsibility is stronger than usual. Our careers, reputation, and objectives are in focus with the Moon in this practical sign. While the Mercury-Ceres trine this morning supports healthy conversations and thinking, there is some tendency for our tone or choice of words to misrepresent what we feel later today, which can lead to misunderstandings. We may need to adjust our path if we find our thoughts and desires are at odds with one another, which can leave us undecided for the time being. The Moon’s sextile to Mars helps with this, and it presents good energy for activities that engage our emotions tonight.
JUNE 8
The Moon continues its transit of Capricorn until 8:55 PM EDT when it moves into Aquarius. The Capricorn Moon encourages us to consider our practical priorities, and its conjunction with Jupiter today can find us reaching for our joy, trusting in a mission. We’re more inclined to embrace our ambitions and seek to improve, grow, or expand. The Aquarius Moon draws us to the unusual, extraordinary, and unconventional. Independence, equality, and freedom are vital to feeling emotionally satisfied. With the Moon’s alignment to Saturn tonight, situations requiring us to keep a cool head work best since we’re not easily swept away by our feelings. We’re inclined to buckle down or organize and plan.
The void Moon occurs from 2:06 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Aquarius at 8:55 PM EDT.
JUNE 9
With the Moon in Aquarius all day, we seek to be fair and supportive while maintaining our independence. This transit encourages us to seek out intellectual stimulation and unusual or unconventional experiences. The Aquarius Moon is earnest, friendly, and principled. Our interest in our social life, new ideas, and progressive change increases. The Moon’s trine to Venus stimulates a cooperative, diplomatic approach to one another, while its square to Uranus suggests our need for freedom is great.
JUNE 10
The Moon continues its transit of Aquarius all day. With a Venus-Pluto sesquiquadrate aspect this morning, there can be some underlying tensions in social interactions and relationships. Feelings of jealousy and possessiveness can be brewing just under the surface of things, and they are in direct proportion to our fear of losing something or someone dear to us. Manipulation can color relationships. Financial tensions emerge. Still, it can also be a time for seeing the needs and desires that we’ve suppressed. Getting into a healthier relationship with these buried needs can help. As the day advances, a Sun-Neptune aspect comes into play, and we may feel that the route to our desires is a roundabout one. There can be some disorganization, impracticality, or a temporary drain of energy. We are challenged to consider our spiritual needs, which might seem to conflict with our plans and goals, or we may need to confront the areas of our lives where reality isn’t measuring up to our ideals. Until we find ways to incorporate imagination and spirit into our lives, there can be problems feeling inspired or motivated. It can be a time of increased spiritual awareness, vision, and inspiration, although we might first struggle with this. There may be detours or distractions to deal with now.
The void Moon occurs from 10:35 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to the Sun), until the Moon enters Pisces tomorrow, Thursday, June 11th, at 5:32 AM EDT.
JUNE 11
The Moon continues its transit of Aquarius until 5:32 AM EDT, after which it transits compassionate Pisces. With the Sun’s square to Neptune this morning, we can feel drained or deflated. Circumstances seem to challenge us to consider our spiritual needs, which might, at this point, seem to contradict our plans and goals. Or, we may need to confront how reality isn’t measuring up to our ideals. We may be looking for inspiration now. This influence takes away our sense of certainty, and we can either go with that flow or resist it and feel a little lost and without direction temporarily. We are reminded to attend to any overlooked spiritual needs before pushing forward. Also this morning, a Venus-Chiron sextile occurs, helping strengthen us. We’re open to learning from one another. There is a subtle healing power in our words and interactions. This transit softens our disposition and might offer us a chance to heal our relationships. We more readily see the beauty in human weaknesses and imperfections.
The void Moon occurs until the Moon enters Pisces today at 5:32 AM EDT.
JUNE 12
The Moon spends the day in the sign of Pisces, meeting with Mars and then Neptune later today. Mars and Neptune are heading into alignment, exact tomorrow morning, and the Moon hooks into this energy today, pulling our emotions firmly into the equation. Our impulses and desires may be confusing, peculiar, hard to explain, or difficult to understand, or we can be finding beautiful inspiration now! Not content with our regular routines, we tend to crave more drama, glamor, or meaning. We’re inclined to act on our intuition, creative impulses, and feelings now. We’re seeking inspiration today, and we may have trouble gaining the motivation or energy to take action on a matter without it. The Pisces Moon is idealistic and spiritually aware.
JUNE 13
The Last Quarter Moon occurs early today when the Sun in Gemini forms a square to the Moon in Pisces. The Last Quarter Moon phase points to a possible crisis of consciousness. After basking in the awareness symbolized by the full light of the Moon last week, we process and disperse our knowledge. We begin to see what works for us–and what doesn’t–in preparation for next week’s New Moon when something new is born again. It’s not an ideal time to start a significant project, as the decreasing light of the Moon symbolizes descent into unconsciousness. It’s time to begin finishing up the details of whatever we conceived at the last New Moon. Mars aligns with Neptune this morning, a transit that occurs approximately every two years. With Mars conjunct Neptune in Pisces, we’re seeking inspiration. Concentrating on practical concerns and affairs may be challenging. We act on our intuition, fantasies are strong, we strive towards all that is boundless, and our creative impulses are potent. Either we consciously pull back, or our energy levels lag temporarily under this influence. There is a strong need to release pressure and tension. We may actively seek out inspiration or seek to put our fantasies into motion. Creative pursuits that involve physical movement are highly favored and could provide excellent outlets for excess, undirected energy. This influence favors dancing, swimming, photography, arts, and entertainment. There can be much energy building inside of us, but we may not yet know where we want it to take us, or if we do, how to get there! The Moon continues its transit of Pisces until 5:03 PM EDT when it enters Aries. The Aries Moon brings on a desire to start fresh, look forward, and do or initiate something new.
The void Moon occurs from 8:45 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Aries at 5:03 PM EDT.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Capricorn
We become aware of the need for structure and planning ahead. We also instinctively are aware of the limitations of time. We are motivated by a desire for success. Achievement and manifestation are most important to us now. We are resourceful and don't want to waste time, energy, or resources. This can be a very sober influence--even a depressing one. However, it can also be a productive time when we look reality in the eye.
The Moon in Capricorn generally favors the following activities: Long-term activities that yield slow but steady results, practical undertakings, career issues, making a business plan, practical investments.
When the Moon is in Aquarius
Attraction to all that is new and unusual, and an instinctive need for improvement, characterize the Moon in Aquarius. Reactions are more intellectual than emotional, and interactions are more impersonal than personal, under this influence. This is a time that promotes social gatherings, dealing with group ideals and goals for the future, brainstorming, new ideas, and progressive changes. We are open to new methods of doing things and we have our eye on the future. It can be hard to stick to schedules now, as personal freedom is most important to us.
The Moon in Aquarius generally favors the following activities: Unusual or radical undertakings, social pursuits, group projects, trying something new, joining a group.
When the Moon is in Pisces
We may not want to face reality while the Moon is in dreamy, impressionable Pisces. It can be a wistful, sensitive, intuitive, and compassionate time. We are especially imaginative, and our intuition reigns under this influence. Boundaries and walls come down, as Pisces energy merges and blends. It's a time when details are overlooked and feelings defy description.
The Moon in Pisces generally favors the following activities: Imaginative undertakings, mystical or spiritual pursuits, inner development, music and drama, going on a retreat, activities involving water.
When the Moon is in Aries
We're motivated by a strong desire to start fresh. A gut instinct to begin something new is with us now, as well as the gumption to do so. Our pioneering impulses are strong, and we feel energetic, spontaneous, and enthusiastic. We may also be tactless and impulsive now. Excess energy is best channeled into physical activity.
People can be more self-motivated and also self-focused while the Moon is in Aries. It's a competitive rather than cooperative time. Accidents and tempers flaring are more likely than usual. This period is one of more personal courage.
The Moon in Aries generally favors the following activities: Quick actions that yield immediate results. Undertakings that involve the self and the personality. (Staying power may be lacking). Self-assertion, taking on challenges, beginning short-term projects.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Gemini The cycle which begins for you now will be marked by a more intense focus on mental and communicative activity than you may ever have experienced before. It’s a time of more involvement with other people, a time for gathering information, and a time when you’re apt to be more on the go than ever. There is likely to be an emphasis on reading, writing, studying, and all forms of exchanging information with others in the years ahead – and it will all serve as a path for self-discovery and personal development.
Mercury in Cancer Gut-level is the way you think, speak, and perceive in the cycle you have just begun. You aren’t interested in the superficial; instead, you want to get right to the root of things. You don’t care about the universal, only about how things impact you and yours. Intellect and emotion mix to the point of inseparability.
Venus in Gemini Saying (or writing) it with style comes naturally now. A yen for variety is a hallmark of this phase, and this especially applies to romantic experience and artistic tastes. The latter tends to focus on literature in general and poetry in particular. A sociable, congenial, slightly frivolous orientation sets in.
Mars in Pisces There’s a martyr complex in the air, now that this new phase has begun in your life. How can you (or anyone) save the world? It’s a question you’ll probably ask yourself as this cycle continues. Defending the weak, undoing injustice, and tilting at windmills can be a big temptation. You might even win a few hands – but you’ll blister a couple if you’re not careful.
Jupiter in Capricorn Respect, status, and achievement are central goals for you as a new phase begins in your life. Creating a structure to empower and maintain your ideals and principles becomes a high priority, an article of faith. By taking on greater responsibilities of this kind, you become an inspiration to others. Ambition unlimited always ends in defeat.
Saturn in Aquarius Ideals are in for a period of testing, as a new phase begins in your life. What are principles worth, unless they are put into practice? That’s an important question for you now. This could mean you may be disappointed by causes you believe in – but if you abandon your principles, you lose.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone and everyone in their place…
