The LAST QUARTER MOON occurred on Saturday, June 13, 2020, at 2:24 AM EDT.
On June 13th, the Last Quarter Moon was exact when the Sun in Gemini formed a square with the Moon in Pisces. The Last Quarter Moon phase points to a crisis of consciousness of sorts. After basking in the awareness symbolized by the full light of the Moon at the time of last week’s Full Moon, we disperse our knowledge and come to a point when we need to sort out what works for us–and what doesn’t–in preparation for next week’s New Moon, when something new is born once again.
This is not the best time to start a major project, as the decreasing light of the Moon symbolizes descent into unconsciousness. It’s time to begin finishing up the details of that which was conceived at the last New Moon. We might consider our recent revelations and process what they mean to us.
This phase of the Moon occurred at 22 degrees and 42 minutes of Pisces square the Sun at 22 degrees and 42 minutes of Gemini, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 21 to 25 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) most significantly.
Next week, on Sunday, June 21st, 2020, the New Moon Solar Eclipse in Cancer will occur at 2:41 AM EDT.

This week: The Sun is in Gemini until June 20th when it enters Cancer; Mercury is in Cancer; Venus is in Gemini; Mars is in Pisces.
The Sun is in Gemini from May 20-June 20. Knowledge and diversity motivate us with the Sun in Gemini. We are more sociable, intellectual, and insatiably curious under this influence. We tend to scatter our energies as a result of this curiosity and awareness of all of our options. We are more communicative and versatile, but we can also be unreliable.
The Sun is in Cancer from June 20-July 22. We are self-protective and insular under this influence. Our attention turns to our nest–our families, homes, and anything that makes us feel “at home”, safe, and secure. Nurturing and taking care of our loved ones and our pet projects comes into focus. Emotions run deep. We are more susceptible to the ups and downs of the Moon while the Sun is in Cancer.
Mercury is in Cancer from May 28-August 4. [This is longer than usual due to Mercury’s retrograde from June 18-July 12.] When Mercury is in Cancer, we move from the desire for quantity to the need for quality in terms of the information we are attracted to. We think, speak, and take in information on a deeper, more instinctive level now. We have less interest in what is universal, and more interest in what affects us personally and what affects the people around us. Our thoughts are colored by our emotions, so it is more challenging to be objective.
Venus is in Gemini from April 3-August 7. In Gemini, we have a finger in every pie. Curiosity motivates us on romantic and social levels. “Variety is the spice of life” is the attitude now. We are sociable, communicative, and interested. We can be animated and fun but may also keep our distance on an emotional level. Attractions now may begin with words, as we tend to bond more readily on a mental level with Venus in Gemini. The shadow side of Gemini is fickleness.
Mars is in Pisces from May 13-June 27. We tend to feel less motivated to go after traditional goals, and more motivated to pursue spiritual or emotional drives during this cycle. We dislike confrontation during this trend. Our output is variable rather than straightforward, and our energy is similarly up and down. We may put others’ needs ahead of our own, and our more idealistic side comes to the fore. During this cycle, going after what we want becomes less straightforward and more complicated!
Jupiter entered Capricorn on December 2nd, 2019, and will transit the sign until December 19th, 2020. Read more about the Jupiter in Capricorn transit.
In 2020, Saturn divides its time between the signs of Capricorn and Aquarius. Saturn transits Capricorn until March 21, 2020; and then finishes up its transit from July 1 to December 17, 2020. Read about Saturn’s transit through Capricorn here. Saturn transits Aquarius from March 21 to July, 1, 2020, and then later, from December 17, 2020, to March 7, 2023.
Uranus is in Taurus. Uranus first transited Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and is consistently in the sign (since March 6th, 2019) until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle. There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Gemini from April 3-August 7. In Gemini, Venus is communicative, sociable but emotionally aloof, insatiably curious, and a little bit flighty. Fickleness with our affections is a strong possibility, but the desire for a meeting of minds is strong and the urge to socialize dominates. Some detachment from our emotions is likely, which may be a breath of fresh air for some. The lines of communication open, although we may only scratch the surface of things. Under this influence, love is playful and lighthearted. Fickleness is the shadow side of Venus in Gemini.
This week: Venus is retrograde all week, and doesn’t form any major aspects with the major bodies this week. Its minor aspect –a quintile–with Mars on Thursday, the 18th, is useful for seeing relating patterns and using them positively to encourage creativity and excitement.
Venus turned retrograde on May 13th, and things are changing. Venus-ruled endeavors, such as money, beauty, art, romance, and pleasure, become a little heavier, more prone to reassessment, review, and perhaps delay or a period of limbo. This Venus retrograde cycle lasts until June 25th, and is a period in which we reevaluate or review our love life as well as the manner in which we receive, reveal, and express our affections. Thoughts turn to the past so that we can lay to rest unhealthy habits in these areas of life.
With Venus retrograde in Gemini, we may question how much daily involvement and both the quality and quantity of our communications in our relationships. Read more about Venus retrograde in Gemini from May 13-June 25, 2020.
This week, we’re beyond the midpoint of the Venus retrograde cycle and getting closer to the end of the retrograde cycle.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Gemini Saying (or writing) it with style comes naturally now. A yen for variety is a hallmark of this phase, and this especially applies to romantic experience and artistic tastes. (The latter tends to focus on literature in general and poetry in particular.) A sociable, congenial, slightly frivolous orientation sets in.
Venus contra-parallel Jupiter June 8-9. We’re optimistic and ready to take a chance or give someone or something the benefit of the doubt. We are able to make the best of a situation now. Watch for overextension. It’s best not to overstate or make big promises based only on the good mood of the moment.
Venus sesquiquadrate Pluto June 10. Tendencies to look for something wrong in a relationship. Jealousy raises its ugly head.
Venus sextile Chiron June 10-11. Love has the power to heal old wounds. We are open to romantic feelings and more willing to act upon them.
Venus semi-sextile Mercury July 4-5. It may be all too easy to say things we don’t mean/feel.
Venus sesquiquadrate Jupiter July 7. We experience a strong desire for more pleasure in our lives, which can be excessive. Take care not to overstate your feelings or to set up unrealistic expectations in your partnerships.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Monday, June 15th, from 8:49 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Taurus the next day, Tuesday, June 16th, at 5:35 AM EDT.
VOC Moon on Thursday, June 18th, from 8:02 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Gemini at 5:00 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Saturday, June 20th, from 5:48 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Mars), until the Moon enters Cancer the next day, Sunday, June 21st, at 2:02 AM EDT.
June 2020:
Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
The Moon is waning this week, which is generally considered unfavorable for new beginnings, with exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details).
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs from Tuesday, June 16th, at approximately 8:30 AM EDT, until Thursday, June 18th, at approximately 7:55 AM EDT, while the Moon is in Taurus. Caveats: Venus is retrograde during this window (Venus is retrograde until June 25th) and Mercury stations and turns retrograde on the 18th (Mercury is retrograde from June 18th to July 12th). Also, we are in between eclipses (a Lunar Eclipse occurred on the 5th and a Solar Eclipse will occur on the 21st). There are many signs that suggest we may not be seeing things clearly.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Sun semi-square Uranus. During this transit, we feel the need for action, but if we don’t know where we’re headed, we might take the wrong turn. Unexpected changes in plans or events can test our patience, and we might feel a bit out of control. However, they could stimulate us to try new approaches and they certainly act to cut boredom. This transit could offer us the drive to do something new, but avoid making hasty major decisions for the time being.
Sun quincunx Pluto. Adjustments are necessary now in order for our lives to move forward. The need to make changes in our life that will further our psychological development arise now.
Sun inconjunct (quincunx) Jupiter. The desire to experience something new or for more freedom to explore can amount to restlessness if we don’t know what it is we want. This is a time of adjustments, and perhaps of letting go of old habits, so that we can free ourselves up for different experiences.
Mars sextile Pluto. We are able to successfully focus on our goals, to take decisive action, and to go after what we want without stepping on others’ toes under this influence.
Mars semi-square Uranus. A tendency to take risks, to feel restless, to act on sudden impulses without considering consequences. There may be changes in work schedules, or life’s circumstances could challenge us in such a way that we need to change our goals or actions.
Mars sextile Jupiter. Decisive action comes naturally now. We possess willpower, verve, and energy that we can direct toward achieving our goals. Success in contracts, negotiations, and business deals comes easily. We want to branch out and take on more challenges. A good time for making new goals or to initiate new projects (all things equal). Optimism and enthusiasm; adventurous spirit. Positive attitudes create winning situations now. A spirit of friendly competition prevails, as well as the desire to take beneficial action.

JUNE 14
The Moon spends the day in the sign of forthright Aries, and we’re ready to innovate and move forward. Still, the Sun in busy Gemini forms minor challenging aspects today, and there can be some missteps. The Sun’s semisquare to Uranus can stir up some restlessness that may seem too generalized to put to productive use. We may want to shake things up, make changes, and break the routine now. However, we could also be tense if there are unexpected schedule changes or if we’re not in touch with what we need to change. It’s better to keep things simple. Not all decisions or choices come straightforwardly today with a Sun-Pluto quincunx also active, which can point to the need for an adjustment before we can feel that we’re moving forward. There may be a shift in power, or we could be dealing with a setback that has us feeling temporarily out of sorts or powerless, prompting us to make changes. This influence can point to indecisiveness about approaching a matter, or the need to let something go to further our psychological growth.
JUNE 15
The Moon continues its transit of Aries today. An Aries Moon is bold, forward-looking, and spontaneous. Still, a responsible theme is with us in the first half of the day with a creative aspect between the Sun and Saturn. We tend to sort, categorize, and create order now. There can be a willingness to make sacrifices if this route seems the best way to make improvements. However, as the day advances, the Sun heads toward a quincunx to Jupiter, pointing to some indecision. We can be feeling torn between two drives, perhaps see-sawing between alternatives. This is a time of adjustments and possibly letting go of old habits so that we can free ourselves up for different experiences.
The void Moon occurs from 8:49 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Taurus tomorrow, Tuesday, June 16th, at 5:35 AM EDT.
JUNE 16
The Moon continues its transit of action-oriented Aries until 5:35 AM EDT when it enters stable Taurus. The Taurus Moon encourages us to slow down and draw upon patience. Usually, this is a gentle encouragement, but with the Moon’s square to Saturn this morning, it can be a jarring reminder. Duties, responsibilities, and obligations that we’ve been avoiding need our attention, although we might see them (initially) as blockers. With the Taurus Moon, we crave comfort and predictability. Earthy activities and sensual pleasures appeal more than usual.
The Moon continues its void period until 5:35 AM EDT when the Moon enters Taurus.
JUNE 17
Common sense rules as we handle domestic or emotional matters and money with the Moon in Taurus all day. The Taurus Moon is content, sensual, earthy, and sensible. While we’re quite open to talking and sharing our ideas with a Moon-Mercury sextile, as the day advances, we might watch for ambiguous communications or perceptions. Mercury is coming to a station and turning retrograde, exact early into the day tomorrow. Until we grow accustomed to the retrograde shift, we may not see things clearly. Mercury will remain retrograde until July 12th.
JUNE 18
Mercury stations and turns retrograde early today. We should be aware that cloudy thinking or confusion can figure strongly during this shift. Communication can be tricky. However, we grow more accustomed to this energy as Mercury’s retrograde progresses (until July 12th). During this period, we look back, tending to review and re-assess matters. Mercury rules our “lower” mind – how we perceive and interpret information that we receive from our environment, and how we relay that information to others. Speaking, negotiating, buying and selling, listening, formal contracts, documents, travel, the mail, shipping, and so forth, come under its rule. We approach these things differently, and we can be somewhat inattentive to the details we normally prioritize while focusing in on those we don’t usually see. This period is best for re-organizing and reflecting. We look at the world a little differently–through different filters–and can come up with significant inner revelations. It may not be easy to communicate them under this influence, but not everything needs to be rationalized. Mercury retrograde periods can be times of heightened inner awareness, when meditation, journal keeping, reworking old plans, and reviewing past work are favored. Minor breaks in the mechanical aspects of communication can reconnect us to other, possibly more meaningful means of communication. It’s a good time to get in touch with what nurtures us and feeds our spirits. Possible misunderstandings aside, today can be useful for creative exchanges and ideas. We’re particularly open to experimenting with new ways of relating and enjoying ourselves. With a Mars-Pluto sextile later today, ambitions and determination increase. We’re getting in touch with what we want and devising plans to pursue it. We benefit from a patient and deliberate approach rather than pushing for immediate action. We are intelligent and strategic when it comes to finding ways to pursue our desires and goals. The Moon continues its transit of steady Taurus until 5:00 PM EDT, after which the Moon transits intelligent Gemini.
The void Moon occurs from 8:02 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Gemini at 5:00 PM EDT.
JUNE 19
While Mercury has just turned retrograde, turning our attention to certain past matters, today’s energies are quite forward-looking. The Sun aligns with the True North Node of the Moon in Gemini, encouraging, and perhaps challenging us to grow, improve, and aspire to our goals. We’re also heading toward a Mars-Jupiter sextile, exact early tomorrow, and we are enthusiastic about making changes and improvements. We are more courageous and energetic than usual, and it can benefit us greatly if we direct this energy into worthwhile projects or causes. A spirit of gentle competition prevails as we seek to branch out and take on more challenges. This influence encourages enterprise and confidence in taking action on our principles. We’re inclined to go to bat for the underdog with Mars in Pisces. The Moon spends the day in curious, friendly, and observant Gemini. We prefer to keep our options open with the Gemini Moon.
JUNE 20
The Moon spends the day in curious Gemini. Mars and Jupiter perfect their sextile early today, stimulating our motivation to produce, act, grow, and improve. We’re ready to make our own luck. We are very resourceful and can find much to look forward to under this influence. The Sun moves into Cancer today, marking the solstice. Until July 22nd, we are self-protective and insular. Our attention turns to our nest–our families, homes, and anything that makes us feel safe and secure. Nurturing and taking care of our loved ones and our pet projects come into sharper focus. We’re more invested in our personal lives. Tomorrow, a Solar Eclipse will occur in the sign of Cancer, making today a good time for reflection rather than action.
The void Moon occurs from 5:48 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Mars), until the Moon enters Cancer the next day, Sunday, June 21st, at 2:02 AM EDT.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Aries
We're motivated by a strong desire to start fresh. A gut instinct to begin something new is with us now, as well as the gumption to do so. Our pioneering impulses are strong, and we feel energetic, spontaneous, and enthusiastic. We may also be tactless and impulsive now. Excess energy is best channeled into physical activity.
People can be more self-motivated and also self-focused while the Moon is in Aries. It's a competitive rather than cooperative time. Accidents and tempers flaring are more likely than usual. This period is one of more personal courage.
The Moon in Aries generally favors the following activities: Quick actions that yield immediate results. Undertakings that involve the self and the personality. (Staying power may be lacking). Self-assertion, taking on challenges, beginning short-term projects.
When the Moon is in Taurus
We are motivated by the desire for serenity, security, peace, and comfort. The Moon is at her most sensual and constant in Taurus. Our basic impulses are to relax, resist change, and "stop to smell the roses." Life slows down a little, and we get comfortable. We may also be inclined to stubbornness and materialism under this influence.
While the Moon is in Taurus, people can be emotionally constant but inflexible. It's a time of stronger focus on personal needs and comfort levels, and a period of more common sense and attention to practical matters.
The Moon in Taurus generally favors the following activities: Substantial and material actions that yield solid results. Financial activities, and those involving personal possessions, applying for a loan, beginning a potentially long-term relationship, music, home decor.
When the Moon is in Gemini
Our basic instinct is to communicate, think, and learn under the influence of Moon in Gemini. We are motivated by a desire for variety and by an instinctive curiosity. The Moon in Gemini is light-hearted, breezy, spirited, and curious, but it can also be restless and fickle.
The Moon in Gemini generally favors the following activities: Mental and communicative actions, and more than one activity at once. Reading, learning, letters and emails, errands, writing, teaching, making connections, cafes, light and airy meetings, short trips.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Gemini The cycle which begins for you now will be marked by a more intense focus on mental and communicative activity than you may ever have experienced before. It’s a time of more involvement with other people, a time for gathering information, and a time when you’re apt to be more on the go than ever. There is likely to be an emphasis on reading, writing, studying, and all forms of exchanging information with others in the years ahead – and it will all serve as a path for self-discovery and personal development.
Sun in Cancer Being more in touch with your emotional roots is a keynote of the cycle that now takes hold in your life. This has to do with feelings, but it’s more than that: it’s about making the things you feel and care about a reality. At some levels, this means a greater focus on family life – parents, children, relatives, the whole domestic scene. On a somewhat broader scale, you’re likely to find that houses and other real property take on greater significance for you. Nurturing is where it’s at in your life now: making things grow and taking care of them, planting seeds that will develop and survive far into the future – that’s what it’s all about.
Mercury in Cancer Gut-level is the way you think, speak, and perceive in the cycle you have just begun. You aren’t interested in the superficial; instead, you want to get right to the root of things. You don’t care about the universal, only about how things impact you and yours. Intellect and emotion mix to the point of inseparability.
Venus in Gemini Saying (or writing) it with style comes naturally now. A yen for variety is a hallmark of this phase, and this especially applies to romantic experience and artistic tastes. The latter tends to focus on literature in general and poetry in particular. A sociable, congenial, slightly frivolous orientation sets in.
Mars in Pisces There’s a martyr complex in the air, now that this new phase has begun in your life. How can you (or anyone) save the world? It’s a question you’ll probably ask yourself as this cycle continues. Defending the weak, undoing injustice, and tilting at windmills can be a big temptation. You might even win a few hands – but you’ll blister a couple if you’re not careful.
Jupiter in Capricorn Respect, status, and achievement are central goals for you as a new phase begins in your life. Creating a structure to empower and maintain your ideals and principles becomes a high priority, an article of faith. By taking on greater responsibilities of this kind, you become an inspiration to others. Ambition unlimited always ends in defeat.
Saturn in Aquarius Ideals are in for a period of testing, as a new phase begins in your life. What are principles worth, unless they are put into practice? That’s an important question for you now. This could mean you may be disappointed by causes you believe in – but if you abandon your principles, you lose.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone and everyone in their place…
