Daily Trends
The FULL Moon occurs on Sunday, February 9th, 2020, at 2:33 AM EST.
Early Sunday, the Moon is full when the Aquarius Sun opposes the Moon in Leo. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time–a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.
The Leo-Aquarius polarity deals with the balance between all that is personal (Leo) and all that is impersonal (Aquarius). The energy of the Leo Moon is creative self-expression and the boost to the individual ego that we receive through pleasure and romance, while the Aquarius Sun rules the group, more impersonal friendships, and objectivity. This Full Moon urges us to strike a balance between romance and friendship, and between expressing ourselves in personal and impersonal ways.
The Leo Moon is proud and intensely individual–not content with simply being just one of the team. The Aquarius Sun, while individualistic as well, values independence and the “team.” The Full Moon illuminates this conflict. This Full Moon is supported by Mars, lending us energy, motivation, and courage to pursue what’s in our hearts. Venus heads toward an alignment with Chiron in Aries at the time of this lunation, and we’re opening ourselves to learning and growing through our interactions.
With the Moon full and bright in the sky, symbolic illumination occurs in our own lives. However, these new feelings and revelations are emotional ones, as there is a sense of emotions bursting forth into our consciousness. It’s time to express ourselves, and to let things out of our systems. Over the coming weeks, we will discover what this means for us. For now, we can’t sit on our feelings. We need to express them. Of course, we might want to exercise some care while doing so, knowing that what is coming out of us is not particularly rational as yet.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 20 degrees and 0 minutes of Leo opposition the Sun at 20 degrees and 0 minutes of Aquarius, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 16 to 24 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) most significantly.
The LAST QUARTER MOON occurs on Saturday, February 15, 2020, at 5:17 PM EST.
On Saturday afternoon, the Last Quarter Moon is exact when the Sun in Aquarius forms a square with the Moon in Scorpio.
The Last Quarter Moon phase points to some sort of crisis of consciousness. After basking in the awareness symbolized by the full light of the Moon at the time of last week’s Full Moon, we disperse our knowledge and come to a point when we need to sort out what works for us–and what doesn’t–in preparation for next week’s New Moon, when something new is born once again. This is not the best time to start a major project, as the decreasing light of the Moon symbolizes a descent into unconsciousness. It’s time to begin finishing up the details of that which was conceived at the last New Moon. It’s a time for considering what our recent revelations mean to us, and for what we might do as a result. It’s better to review and sort than to push something new. Until the New Moon, we might take inventory, tie up loose ends, and let go if necessary.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 26 degrees and 41 minutes of Scorpio square the Sun at 26 degrees and 41 minutes of Aquarius, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 25 to 29 degrees of the Fixed signs most significantly (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius).

This week: The Sun is in Aquarius; Mercury is in Pisces; Venus is in Aries; Mars is in Sagittarius.
The Sun is in Aquarius from January 20-February 18. During this cycle, we are motivated by our hunger for knowledge, experience, and originality. Innovation is more important to us than convention. We become more aware of what is outdated in our lives, and we strive to find new perspectives and new ways to do things. The class distinctions, structure, and order that Capricorn finds appealing now seem to be too rigid. The freedom of the individual becomes far more significant to us. We strive to free ourselves from some of the restrictions, inhibitions, and limitations that now feel constraining rather than safe.
Mercury is in Pisces from February 3-March 4 and then March 16-April 11. When Mercury is in Pisces, our thinking processes are more visual, intuitive, and imaginative. We are especially attuned to the world of emotion, which colors both our thoughts and our communication style. We guess well, express ourselves with imagery, and make decisions intuitively. We are more attracted to consciousness-raising information.
Venus is in Aries from February 7-March 4. In Aries, love is spontaneous and direct. The chase is very exciting to us under this fiery influence. We are bold, fresh, and a little impatient when it comes to matters of the heart. We don’t look back with Aries energy. We are not interested in saying sorry or dwelling on the past. It’s a brand new day! It’s time to make things work right now. Aries is known for a love of the chase and the conquest, but Aries love can be longstanding as long as it remains relatively fresh. Aries is blunt–there’s no sugar-coating with Aries. This can sting, but rarely is Aries energy mean or petty. Saying it like it is is important to Aries. Desires are strong and expressed spontaneously, enthusiastically, and directly. Aries prefers to seduce rather than be seduced, to chase rather than be chased.
Mars is in Sagittarius from January 3-February 16. With a Sagittarius Mars, our actions are motivated by our ideals. We are bothered by routine, quickly becoming restless if we feel confined. We have a love of adventure, and of conquest–this is the position of wanderlust. We start projects or challenges with gusto, although we may tend to abandon them rather quickly. This may be because we set our sights too high!
Jupiter entered Capricorn on December 2nd, 2019, and will transit the sign until December 19th, 2020. Read more about the Jupiter in Capricorn transit.
Saturn transits Capricorn until March 21, 2020; and then finishes up its transit from July 1 to December 17, 2020. Read about Saturn’s transit through Capricorn here.
Uranus is in Taurus. Uranus first transited Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and is now consistently in the sign (since March 6th, 2019) until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle. There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Romance & Relationships
This week: On Sunday and Monday, we have powerful energy with us for breaking through a problem area in relationships with the goal of repairing and healing. We are open to romantic feelings and more willing than usual to act upon them. This is a good time to make a resolution to repair, heal, and improve relationships. Similar energy is with us on Friday and Saturday. On Wednesday and Thursday, however, it’s all too easy to find ourselves on a different page with those close to us. Dissatisfaction can be stirred, and if a relationship seems to be preventing us from growing and improving, it becomes glaringly challenging.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Aries Romance at the drop of a hat is part and parcel of the cycle you have just begun. Winning the hearts of others can be a challenge you’re eager to accept – and the thrill of the chase might be most of the fun. Is it the pursuit of happiness – or the happiness of pursuit?
Venus sextile Saturn February 3. Relationships are stabilized and steady, although feelings are expressed reservedly, formally, or sparingly. A new sense of realism in existing partnerships. Relationships begun under this influence possess a distinctly practical theme, almost as if the partnership is a business endeavor.
Venus conjunct Chiron February 9-10. Healing energy is brought to love relationships, and a new cycle begins. A commitment-friendly transit. Love can heal old wounds. We are open to romantic feelings, and more willing to act upon them. This is a good time to make a resolution to repair, heal, and improve relationships.
Venus square true North Node February 12-13. There can be a lack of agreement, dissatisfaction stirred up, and a sense that our relationships are preventing our growth.
Venus parallel Chiron February 14-15. Healing energy is brought to love relationships, and a new cycle begins. A commitment-friendly transit. Love can heal old wounds. We are open to romantic feelings, and more willing to act upon them. This is a good time to make a resolution to repair, heal, and improve relationships.
Venus square Jupiter February 22-23. We experience a strong desire for more pleasure in our lives, which can be excessive. Take care not to overstate your feelings or to set up unrealistic expectations in your partnerships. As well, take what your partner says with a grain of salt. There is no malicious intent involved, but feelings of elation can cloud our judgment, and we can promise more than we can deliver.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Sunday, February 9th, from 11:09 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Mars), until the Moon enters Virgo at 6:39 PM EST.
VOC Moon on Tuesday, February 11th, from 1:26 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Mars), until the Moon enters Libra at 6:38 PM EST.
VOC Moon on Thursday, February 13th, from 4:41 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Mars), until the Moon enters Scorpio at 7:38 PM EST.
VOC Moon on Saturday, February 15th, from 5:21 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Saturn), until the Moon enters Sagittarius at 11:08 PM EST.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Mercury semi-square Pluto. “Suspicious minds” characterize this transit, although if we harness the energy, we can develop strategies to get to the bottom of any matter. Mistrust, investigations. Some level of mental stress, trouble, or pressure.
Venus conjunct Chiron. We have the chance to heal our personal relationships now, as we are more open to intimacy and commitment, as well as to learning from one another. We more easily see beauty in human weaknesses, and are less inclined to see fault, or to concern ourselves with fault. It’s a strong time for building trust in relationships, and for seeing potential in one another, although the process might feel painful! Insecurities are revealed and, ideally, cleansed. A new cycle of healing in love begins now.
Mercury semi-square Saturn. Red tape, re-doing tasks we thought we had finished, problems getting from point A to point B, delays in communication, negative thinking, hyper-sensitivity and criticism–these are all potentials now. The energy is best used for focusing on fixing errors rather than harping on how irritating they are.

FEBRUARY 9
The Full Moon occurs in the sign of Leo early today, at 2:33 AM EST. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment. It is an emotional time of romance, fertilization, and epiphanies. The Leo Moon is proud and intensely individual, and not particularly content with being just one of the team. The Aquarius Sun, while individualistic as well, values independence and the team. The Full Moon illuminates this conflict. With the Moon full and bright in the sky, symbolic illumination occurs in our own lives. These revelations are emotional ones and can feel raw just for now. A semi-square between Mercury and Pluto can point to some tendency to worry or see the seedier side of situations. Still, Venus is heading toward a conjunction with Chiron, and it’s a time for expressing compassion or forgiveness. We may feel drawn to problem areas so that we can repair them. We more readily see the beauty in human weaknesses and in the pain of growing and repair. It’s a strong time for building trust in relationships, as well as for seeing the potential in one another, although the process might feel painful at points.
The void Moon occurs from 11:09 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Mars), until the Moon enters Virgo at 6:39 PM EST.
FEBRUARY 10
The Moon spends the day in the sign of Virgo, harmonizing with Jupiter, and we’re generous with our support. The Virgo Moon is helpful, attentive, and intelligent. With a Sun-Juno trine today, we’re in great shape for strengthening and supporting one another, and for building trust in the process. We take greater pride in our relationships, and we’re willing to put more effort into them. We tend to instinctively know how to behave in ways that boost others’ confidence. This can be a pleasantly ambitious time.
FEBRUARY 11
The morning is good for pouring more heart and special attention into a person, pastime, or project. We may be feeling pleasantly attached, finding it natural to nurture and support people in our lives. The Moon continues its transit of Virgo until 6:38 PM EST, encouraging a closer look at the small jobs and important details of our lives. While the Moon’s trine to Saturn helps us prioritize, its square to Mars in Sagittarius can be distracting. Impatience is difficult to control. The Moon moves through Libra from 6:38 PM forward, encouraging us to put effort into making things more harmonious and pleasant.
The void Moon occurs from 1:26 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Mars), until the Moon enters Libra at 6:38 PM EST.
FEBRUARY 12
The Moon continues its transit of Libra today, and we seek fairness and harmony. We can be especially sensitive to areas of our lives (and especially our relationships) that have come out of balance. The Moon squares Jupiter, and there can be some restlessness or competing ambitions and needs. Mercury forms a semi-square to Saturn, and this influence can challenge conversations and choices today. We could find ourselves harping on flaws. We’re more sensitive to criticism and inclined to worried or pessimistic thinking. It’s an excellent time to work on fixing errors and problems, but not a time for taking a risk or branching out.
FEBRUARY 13
The Moon continues its transit of Libra until 7:38 PM EST, after which it transits Scorpio. We can see a more sober side of Libra with the Moon’s square to Pluto and then Saturn. The urge or need to socialize and connect with our relationship goals can seem to clash with our ambitions and responsibilities. However, we tend to make an extra effort to be inclusive, compromising, and polite. We’re seeking balance in our lives today, and relationships can be in high focus. We tend to weigh all perspectives and to consider all possibilities while the Moon is in Libra. Venus forms a square to the North Node of the Moon, also pointing to the possibility of general lack of agreement, dissatisfaction, or a sense that our relationships are working counter to our growth. The Moon also harmonizes with the Sun and Mars today, suggesting we’re finding ways to adapt and compromise.
The void Moon occurs from 4:41 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Mars), until the Moon enters Scorpio at 7:38 PM EST.
FEBRUARY 14
The Moon is in Scorpio all day, bringing healing and transformative energy to us. We may be opening up about our feelings or dissecting them as the Moon forms a trine to Mercury in Pisces, and then a sextile to Jupiter in Capricorn. We’re encouraged to reach into our depths and get a little closer to understanding and exploring our needs and desires. It’s a good day for clarifications and objectivity about our feelings and motivations. Scorpio’s energy is provocative, passionate, strong-willed, and intense. A creative aspect between Venus and Saturn is forming, and we’re inclined to maneuver and plan tastefully. We may be showcasing our reliability and loyalty.
FEBRUARY 15
The Moon continues its transit of perceptive, deeply feeling Scorpio until 11:08 PM EST. The Last Quarter Moon is exact this afternoon when the Sun in Aquarius forms a square with the Moon in Scorpio, pointing to a crisis of consciousness. It’s a time for considering what our recent revelations mean to us and for what we might do as a result. This Quarter Moons signals the need to review and sort rather than push something new. Until the New Moon on the 23rd, it’s a better time to tie up loose ends, take inventory, and let go if necessary. On this day before Mercury stations and retrogrades and Mars changes signs, it may be better to reserve judgment than push decisions.
The Moon is void from 5:21 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Saturn), until the Moon enters Sagittarius at 11:08 PM EST.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Leo
The Moon in Leo speaks to our "inner child". It's a warm, generous, whole-heartedly loving position. Pride keeps us from pettiness, but it can also prevent us from opening up and revealing how we are truly feeling. We are on stage, our feelings are grand, and we appreciate some drama in our lives. We are easily threatened by anything that seems to be impersonal. This is a time when we seek attention--when we want to stand out for our special qualities. It's a strong time for romance and any creative activity as well.
The Moon in Leo generally favors the following activities: Creative activities, activities involving children, generous undertakings, undertakings in which personal recognition is desired, and risk-taking.
When the Moon is in Virgo
We instinctually gravitate towards practical activities under the influence of a Virgo Moon. In an urge to set things right, we might easily find ourselves re-organizing and rethinking plans. Emotional satisfaction comes from solving problems, making order out of confusion, and helping others. Health matters might come into focus. We notice the smaller parts that make up the whole, and instead of letting nagging details bother us, we might work on ironing them out so that we can feel more confident moving ahead.
The Moon in Virgo generally favors the following activities: Mental pursuits, work activities, services, and routines. Activities that would benefit from tending to details.
When the Moon is in Libra
Creating order is the focus, not necessarily through tidying or organizing as was the case while the Moon was in Virgo, but rather through pleasing interactions with others and aesthetics in our environment. We tend to solve problems through diplomacy, and we are more able to put aside our own emotions in order to achieve the peace we crave. The tendency now is to avoid direct confrontations. Decisions do not come easily. Seeing both sides to any given situation is the main reason for hesitation. Fear of losing others' approval is another.
The Moon in Libra generally favors the following activities: Relationship and partnership issues, activities involving teamwork and cooperation, activities that involve self-examination, activities related to beauty.
When the Moon is in Scorpio
Intensity is what the Moon in Scorpio is all about. Whether it's passion, elation, sorrow, or desire, emotions are felt on a deeply personal level. We are motivated by the desire to get to the bottom of things, and we instinctively read between the lines. Superficiality won't work for us now. The Moon in Scorpio urges us to uncover our own power, and it's an excellent time to rid ourselves of old fears and limiting habits. It can be an intimate and passionate time. Avoid manipulative tactics, brooding, and suspiciousness.
The Moon in Scorpio generally favors the following activities: Taxes, accounting, intimacy issues, psychological examinations, research, self-examination, getting rid of old things.
When the Moon is in Sagittarius
The Moon is at her most optimistic and upbeat in Sagittarius. We are motivated by a need to seek the truth, and we are ready to pursue a new vision. We are not interested in details just now. Instead, we focus on the big picture. New experiences and adventures satisfy a deep emotional need. Spontaneity is the key. We may also be inclined toward overdoing and overstating. We don't want to plan ahead, and prefer to "wing it".
The Moon in Sagittarius generally favors the following activities: Adventurous activities that involve "winging it", travel, higher education, starting publishing projects, advertising, sports, physical activity.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Aquarius This is a time when your path of self-development and expression becomes more and more unusual – setting you apart from the crowd and from all that is traditional. The new, the futuristic, the high-tech are the hallmarks of your lifestyle as the cycle gets underway. Ideas and technologies that change the way people live – not just one person, but many – are a major new focus in your life. Involvement with ideals and idealistic groups enhances your sense of purpose and mission.
Mercury in Pisces Knowing things without knowing how you know them is typical at a time like this. The mystical, the universal, the eternal: these are the things that stir your curiosity. Call it psychic, call it deja vu … it can be there when you call on it, whatever you call it. (Remembering the little things might become more difficult, however: it’s tough to remember if you paid the electric bill when you’re more interested in the eternal verities.)
Mars in Sagittarius Ideology is a keynote of the new phase you have begun – the power of ideas and the power they wield over people. Religious, cultural, or philosophical controversies and crusades have a way of stirring your blood. Travel and adventure are compelling temptations as you dare to test your mettle and stretch your horizons.
Jupiter in Capricorn Respect, status, and achievement are central goals for you as a new phase begins in your life. Creating a structure to empower and maintain your ideals and principles becomes a high priority, an article of faith. By taking on greater responsibilities of this kind, you become an inspiration to others. Ambition unlimited always ends in defeat.
Saturn in Capricorn Responsibility, hard work, ambition, and achievement: these are the foundations you need to build on now, as a new cycle dawns in your life. And yet, there is a tendency to be a little too hard, perhaps a bit cold, in your approach to these things. Let ambition take you to the top, but don’t let it lull you into thinking that the end justifies the means.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone and everyone in their place…
