The FULL MOON occurs on Saturday, September 10th, 2022, at 5:59 AM EDT.
On Saturday morning, the Full Moon occurs when the Sun in Virgo forms an opposition to the Moon in Pisces. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of what we started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time – a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.
This lunation occurs along the Virgo-Pisces polarity, which is the service axis. This axis deals with the balance between day-to-day functions and routines, physical health, and the need for order (Virgo) and vision, spiritual health, disorder, and the infinite (Pisces).
Virgo rules our personal set of tools and techniques that we use to deal with day-to-day life, while Pisces rules the tools that we use to deal with our spirituality.
The key to balance lies in identifying and expressing our spiritual needs while maintaining order in our everyday lives. Neglecting either end of the axis will surely backfire–we would either be living in chaos or in excessive order.
This Full Moon harmonizes with Uranus, suggesting an easier, more natural acceptance of change and progress now.
The above chart shows the core influences/patterns at the time of this Full Moon in Pisces. Below is a chart wheel for the Full Moon with additional points, providing more details.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 17 degrees and 41 minutes of Pisces opposite the Sun at the same degree of Virgo, and affecting planets at approximately 14 to 22 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) the most.

This week: The Sun is in Virgo; Mercury is in Libra; Venus is in Leo until September 5th, when it enters Virgo; Mars is in Gemini.
The Sun is in Virgo from August 22-September 22. Our focus shifts to the puzzle pieces–the little details of our lives. It is now time to take care of practical concerns. Attending to the details of everyday life may not sound like loads of fun, but it can certainly free us from unnecessary stress that results from “collecting” odds and ends of unfinished business.
This is an ideal time to get organized, do detailed work, and improve communications on the job. We take more pride in our work, chores, and health efforts. We also want to be more organized and informed during the Sun-in-Virgo cycle.
We’re learning humility and the benefits of developing skills, some level of perfectionism, and the importance of attention to detail. It’s a time of down-to-earth practicality when we prefer to invest our time and energy in things with realistic potential. We’re not inclined to ambition or “going big.” Attracting prosperity involves honest, careful, and attentive work and dedication.
Mercury is in Libra from August 25-September 23. [Later, Mercury turns retrograde, returns to Virgo, turns direct, then transits Libra again from October 10-29.] When Mercury is in Libra, we are diplomatic and friendly. During this cycle, we bring a more rational approach to one-to-one relationships. It’s a good time to think about ways to improve our negotiation skills.
Mercury in Libra can be vacillating energy as we attempt to see both sides of any given situation. Making quick decisions can be more challenging than usual, as we can sit “on the fence.” We may too easily accommodate others’ opinions to keep the peace. In our negotiations, we don’t want to assert ourselves so as to appear to be the “bad guy.” However, this is a reasonable period for considering others’ points of view. We are more inclined to arrive at fair conclusions.
Venus is in Leo from August 11-September 5. Love is magnificent and grand while Venus is in Leo. We take pride in love, and we are generous with our money as well. This is a warmhearted, teasing, expressive, proud, and extravagant placement for Venus. Love is a bit of a game–a game that is perpetual, as Venus in Leo is forever stuck in the romance stage of a relationship. We feed on attention, acknowledgement, validation, and adoration.
Venus in Leo loves to be adored, pampered, and admired. Pride and passion are hallmarks of this cycle. We have a strong ego investment in our love lives during this period. The negative expression of this placement is overstating our feelings simply for the effect, as well as extravagance.
The Venus-in-Leo cycle can be a strong or profitable time for contests, lotteries, parties, recreation, drama, adornment, jewelry, costumes, art dealing, and all things golden. Generosity and warmth contribute to our ability to draw in the right resources. We can have a compelling desire to stand out, be remarkable, and feel special during this period.
Venus is in Virgo from September 5-29. This is a time when we express our love through practical means and gestures–running errands, doing detail work, or just being there for our lovers. Love needs to make sense and have a purpose with Venus in Virgo.
Virgo is an Earth sign, which is sensual, but Virgo is also quite practical and mental. In addition to our romantic natures, what we purchase and the types of entertainment we enjoy during this cycle are ruled by whether or not they make sense and serve a practical purpose.
We could easily feel guilty if we are too self-indulgent at this time. Rendering services to others can fill a need, and can be an expression of love. The shadow side of this position is being overly critical of our partners or relationships, picky, nervous, or worried.
During the Venus-in-Virgo cycle, we can gravitate to, and find some benefits in, holistic healing, acupuncture, yoga, and nutritional boosts. We’re keenly interested in ways to enrich our lives and boost our well-being. “Health is wealth” could be a motto now. In fact, we might enjoy health-boosting activities more than usual. Businesses promoting nutrition, wholesomeness, and well-being might prosper at this time. Commitment and attention to detail are also more prominently considered virtues now.
In love, we’re not very showy, flowery, or demonstrative. Instead, we show our love through being of service. We’re conservative with money, pleasure, and romance at this time, ready to analyze and dissect these matters. This can also be a time when helping others, particularly with good advice regarding these Venus-ruled things, can be prominent and successful. We might meet friends or lovers through our work or health-pursuits. We can take a special interest in handiwork, crafts, lists/sorting, and bookkeeping.
Mars is in Gemini from August 20, 2022-March 25, 2023. [This is much longer than usual due to a Mars retrograde cycle from October 30, 2022-January 12, 2023.]
In Gemini, Mars is versatile and flexible but not especially determined or focused. We should watch for becoming so scattered that we’re ineffective. However, it’s an excellent period for diversifying our interests and understanding the power of our communications.
It’s an excellent time for strategizing and devising useful tactics to achieve our desires and goals. We’re resourceful and clever, and we know how to use words effectively.
Perhaps most notable during this period is our tactical skills. We know how to maneuver things to get our way. We use words to charm and express anger. We’re very talkative, and animatedly so, when passionate and enthusiastic about a topic.
Jupiter is in Aries.
Jupiter is in Aries from May 10 to October 28, 2022. This is part one of two, with the second and final part occurring from December 20, 2022, to May 16, 2023. Read more about Jupiter’s transit of Aries.
Jupiter will head back into Pisces from October 28 to December 20, 2022–the final part of three in the Jupiter-in-Pisces transit. Read more about the Jupiter in Pisces transit.
Saturn transits Aquarius from March 21 to July 1, 2020, and from December 17th, 2020, until March 7, 2023. Read about Saturn’s transit of Aquarius.
Uranus is in Taurus.
Uranus transits Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and then from March 6th, 2019, until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. Above all, we’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle.
There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. In general, we’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money, are likely. Our income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Leo from August 11-September 5. Love is magnificent and grand!
Venus is in Virgo from September 5-29. This is a time when we express our love through practical means and gestures–running errands, doing detail work, or just “being there” for our lovers. Essentially, we fuss over our partners, sometimes a little too much! Our availability and accessibility is a sign of love.
Love needs to make sense and have a purpose with Venus in Virgo. Virgo is an Earth sign, which is sensual but also quite practical. We could easily feel guilty if we are too self-indulgent during this cycle. We can be a little shy and prone to worry. We pick up on many different cues, attempting to analyze every detail of our lovers’ reactions and responses. We could worry ourselves sick agonizing over details! In the process, we can miss out on the bigger and perhaps more meaningful cues.
As well, Virgo is a sign that can live very much in the mind in the middle of an experience, failing to enjoy the moment. Self-consciousness can get in the way of enjoyment. Rendering services to others can fill a need, and can be an expression of love. The shadow side of this position is being overly critical of our partners, picky, or worrisome.
This week: There can be some reluctance to commit or to show our affections on Sunday, the 5th. On Friday, the 9th, our desire for the pleasures of life is strong, but we tend to overshoot. Troubles in relationships now are likely due to overblown expectations. It can be challenging to find a balance between responsibilities and pleasures.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Leo Romance becomes an end in itself as a new cycle begins for you. It marks a time when love, creativity, and self-expression satisfy a deep yearning to be appreciated and admired – needed, even. A flashy, flirty, stylish splash of color and warmth.
Venus in Virgo If it makes sense you love it, and if it doesn’t you feel guilty about it: that’s what it’s like now. A loving attention to details and a sense of satisfaction in doing what is right (especially with respect to your health) are some of the qualities that come to the fore at a time like this.
Venus quincunx Neptune August 31. Idealism and disappointments in love. Avoid becoming blinded by what you want to see, rather than what really is. Doubts about love.
Venus quincunx Pluto September 1-2. This is a time of adjustments and re-assessments in our close personal relationships and/or with regards to our social lives. Issues of power and control can arise. Unreasonable or irrational fears of loss, or jealousy, could also emerge.
Venus sesquiquadrate Chiron September 5. Love cannot be forced. This is not a commitment-friendly transit, as we may feel alienated for no apparent reason and unwilling to give of ourselves.
Venus quincunx Jupiter September 9. A strong desire for the pleasures of life is with us now, although our eyes are often bigger than our stomachs. Troubles in relationships now are likely due to overblown expectations. It can be challenging to find a balance between responsibilities and the desire for self-gratification.
Venus sesquiquadrate Pluto September 13-14. Tendencies to look for something wrong in a relationship. Jealousy raises its ugly head.
Venus parallel Chiron September 15. Healing energy is brought to love relationships, and a new cycle begins. A commitment-friendly transit. Love can heal old wounds. We are open to romantic feelings, and more willing to act upon them. This is a good time to make a resolution to repair, heal, and improve relationships.
Venus square Mars September 16. Passions run high under this influence. Sexual tensions and competitiveness are possible, and there can be conflicts that arise from distinct differences between romantic and sexual needs. There is an air of competitiveness under this influence, which need not be difficult. It can be stimulating, creative, passionate, and invigorating.
Venus trine True North Node of the Moon September 16. We are more concerned about harmonizing and tend to be agreeable and cooperative. We could feel lucky in love, and we could meet someone who is good for us. Fortunate connections might be made now.
Venus quincunx Chiron September 16-17. There may be vague feelings of discontent in relationships; or a choice that needs to be made regarding personal relationships, money, or possessions. Insecurity involving others might make it awkward for us to express our affections naturally or flowingly.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects.
The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart to determine the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass.
The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Sunday, September 4th, from 9:52 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Venus), until the Moon enters Capricorn at 10:04 PM EDT. This is a very short void period!
VOC Moon on Tuesday, September 6th, from 5:44 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Pluto), until the Moon enters Aquarius at 11:42 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Thursday, September 8th, from 8:35 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Saturn), until the Moon enters Pisces the next day, Friday, September 9th, at 12:44 AM EDT.
VOC Moon on Saturday, September 10th, from 8:30 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Pluto), until the Moon enters Aries the next day, Sunday, September 11th, at 2:48 AM EDT.
September 2022:
Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
It’s important to note that there are more factors to consider in addition to the windows listed below. The following windows are starting points. For example, you generally don’t want to elect a new venture when a very challenging aspect is applying, and it’s preferable to elect a time when a particularly positive aspect hasn’t yet perfected (is applying rather than separating).
The Moon is waxing this week until the Full Moon on the 10th, which is generally considered favorable for new beginnings, with exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details). After the Full Moon on the 10th, the Moon is waning, which is generally considered unfavorable for new beginnings, although also with some exceptions.
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs on Sunday, September 4th, from approximately 1:30 PM to 9:50 PM EDT, while the Moon is in Sagittarius. Another window occurs from Monday, September 5th, from approximately 12:25 PM EDT, until Tuesday, September 6th, at approximately 5:40 PM EDT, while the Moon is in Capricorn. Another window occurs on Saturday, September 10th, from approximately 6:25 PM to 8:25 PM EDT, while the Moon is in Pisces. This latter window is less ideal, however, especially as Mercury is stationary retrograde.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Venus sesquiquadrate Chiron. Blocks to intimacy are possible now as we focus on differences rather than similarities in our relationships with others. We might have a hard time learning from one another as a result.
Sun quincunx Chiron. Doubting ourselves and our effectiveness, as well as guilt for not facing important issues, can subtly undermine our confidence under this influence. Self-expression can be choppy and unnatural as a result.
Venus quincunx Jupiter. A strong desire for the pleasures of life is emphasized now, although our eyes are often bigger than our stomach. Challenges in relationships now are likely due to overblown expectations. It can be challenging to find a balance between responsibilities and the desire for self-gratification.
Mars sesquiquadrature Pluto. Our desires are intense and difficult to satisfy under this influence. A tendency to bully and confront may dominate. Efforts to make changes could be thwarted, or power struggles emerge. The trick is to remain flexible and to develop strategies for achieving our goals.

SEPTEMBER 4
The Moon continues its transit of Sagittarius most of the day. Its square to Neptune midday can be confusing. While we want to explore new ideas or experience new things, a plan of action can be missing. We should watch for misinformation. It’s a time to open ourselves up to possibilities, but finalizing plans should probably be saved for a later date. The Moon forms a trine to Venus just before it heads into Capricorn tonight. Venus will change signs very early tomorrow, and while we can be comfortable with our feelings, it’s best not to jump to decisions related to love, money, and pleasure today. The Capricorn Moon from 10:04 PM EDT forward sensitizes us to our ambitions, performance, and responsibilities.
The void Moon occurs from 9:52 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Venus), until the Moon enters Capricorn at 10:04 PM EDT.
SEPTEMBER 5
Venus enters Virgo today, where it will transit until September 29th. Virgo is sensual but also reasonably practical. We might enjoy our work or wellness routines more than usual while Venus is in Virgo, and the satisfaction of a job well done cannot be underestimated during this cycle. Pleasures and pastimes that serve a useful purpose are more attractive. We express our love through practical means and gestures–running errands, doing detail work, or just being there for our loved ones. Still, there can be some nervousness, and we should watch for a tendency to worry or fret, especially in our relationships. With today’s Venus-Chiron minor square, we can feel a little out of sync on a social level. There is some tendency to keep our emotional distance, and we tend to focus on differences rather than similarities in our relationships. Today’s Moon in Capricorn is earthy and practical-minded.
SEPTEMBER 6
The Moon spends most of the day in Capricorn, entering Aquarius at 11:42 PM EDT. With the Capricorn Moon, we’re resolved, determined, and goal-oriented. We seek order and structure in our lives. Our careers, reputation, and objectives assume more importance. Situations that require us to keep a cool head work best under this influence since we’re not easily swept away by our feelings. A Venus-Pluto biquintile can point to a comfortably strategic approach to our money and relationships. The Moon’s move into Aquarius near the end of the day is feel-good energy that encourages us to let go of tension. We awaken to possible ways to improve our lives and make progress.
The void Moon occurs from 5:44 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Pluto), until the Moon enters Aquarius at 11:42 PM EDT.
SEPTEMBER 7
The Moon spends the day in Aquarius and forms a trine to Mercury and Mars today, in all three Air signs. This combination can produce some fantastic, spirited exchanges. The Sun forms a trine to the North Node of the Moon, encouraging us to aspire to our goals, rise to a challenge, and grow and improve. However, a Sun-Chiron quincunx suggests some wavering of confidence. We may doubt our inner guide, and we could face situations that seem to test our vulnerabilities. Some indecision is possible.
SEPTEMBER 8
The Moon spends the day in Aquarius, and we are attracted to the unusual, extraordinary, and unconventional. Independence, equality, and freedom are vital to feeling emotionally satisfied with this position of the Moon. We aim to be fair and honest, and we gravitate to new and unique ways of approaching the world around us. This morning, Moon transits can certainly stir restless or rebellious feelings. While we’re more aware of the benefits of some restrictions and limitations as the Moon meets Saturn, they remain hard to accept with the Aquarius Moon’s square to rule-breaker Uranus.
The void Moon occurs from 8:35 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Saturn), until the Moon enters Pisces the next day, Friday, September 9th, at 12:44 AM EDT.
SEPTEMBER 9
The Moon enters Pisces early today, at 12:44 AM EDT, and we’re adaptable, compassionate, and wise. The Moon’s opposition to Venus and square to Mars could stir discontent. Relating can be animated and somewhat disruptive, and we could feel torn between our duties and personal time.
Today’s Venus-Jupiter quincunx is a minor aspect, but it can stimulate further restlessness and indecision about putting ourselves out there. A strong desire for the pleasures of life is in emphasis, although our eyes can be bigger than our stomachs. Challenges in relationships today are likely due to overblown expectations. Just for now, it can be challenging to find a balance between what we want to do and what we think we should do.
Tonight, Mercury stations and turns retrograde. Mercury’s retrograde lasts until October 2nd, beginning in the sign of Libra and ending in Virgo. During this cycle, our thinking turns inward as we review and reassess matters. Mercury retrograde periods can be times of heightened inner awareness–times when meditation, journaling, reworking old plans, and reviewing past work are favored more than usual. Minor breaks in the mechanical aspects of communication and transportation can reconnect us to other, possibly more meaningful, means of connecting.
The more difficult times are the periods of the shifts themselves (the days surrounding the stations — today and October 2nd), after which we grow more and more accustomed to the motion. It makes sense to observe and review rather than make critical decisions with today’s shift.
The Moon continues its void period until it enters Pisces today at 12:44 AM EDT.
SEPTEMBER 10
The Full Moon occurs this morning at 6:00 AM EDT in the sign of Pisces. This lunation challenges us to identify and express our spiritual needs while maintaining order in our everyday lives. The illumination of a dream or a desire to find more meaning in our lives can figure strongly now. It’s important to avoid looking for salvation through a relationship, person, project, or business. We may be putting too high expectations on these things when we should be looking within for happiness. Otherwise, this is a potent, intense, and revealing time! Our discoveries and epiphanies are exciting and passionate, and we might allow our dreams to motivate us. This Full Moon harmonizes with Uranus (the Sun and Uranus are heading toward a trine, exact tomorrow morning), suggesting an easier, more natural acceptance of change and progress.
The void Moon occurs from 8:30 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Pluto), until the Moon enters Aries the next day, Sunday, September 11th, at 2:48 AM EDT.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Sagittarius
The Moon is at her most optimistic and upbeat in Sagittarius. We are motivated by a need to seek the truth, and we are ready to pursue a new vision. We are not interested in details just now. Instead, we focus on the big picture. New experiences and adventures satisfy a deep emotional need. Spontaneity is the key. We may also be inclined toward overdoing and overstating. We don't want to plan ahead, and prefer to "wing it".
The Moon in Sagittarius generally favors the following activities: Adventurous activities that involve "winging it", travel, higher education, starting publishing projects, advertising, sports, physical activity.
When the Moon is in Capricorn
We become aware of the need for structure and planning ahead. We also instinctively are aware of the limitations of time. We are motivated by a desire for success. Achievement and manifestation are most important to us now. We are resourceful and don't want to waste time, energy, or resources. This can be a very sober influence--even a depressing one. However, it can also be a productive time when we look reality in the eye.
The Moon in Capricorn generally favors the following activities: Long-term activities that yield slow but steady results, practical undertakings, career issues, making a business plan, practical investments.
When the Moon is in Aquarius
Attraction to all that is new and unusual, and an instinctive need for improvement, characterize the Moon in Aquarius. Reactions are more intellectual than emotional, and interactions are more impersonal than personal, under this influence. This is a time that promotes social gatherings, dealing with group ideals and goals for the future, brainstorming, new ideas, and progressive changes. We are open to new methods of doing things and we have our eye on the future. It can be hard to stick to schedules now, as personal freedom is most important to us.
The Moon in Aquarius generally favors the following activities: Unusual or radical undertakings, social pursuits, group projects, trying something new, joining a group.
When the Moon is in Pisces
We may not want to face reality while the Moon is in dreamy, impressionable Pisces. It can be a wistful, sensitive, intuitive, and compassionate time. We are especially imaginative, and our intuition reigns under this influence. Boundaries and walls come down, as Pisces energy merges and blends. It's a time when details are overlooked and feelings defy description.
The Moon in Pisces generally favors the following activities: Imaginative undertakings, mystical or spiritual pursuits, inner development, music and drama, going on a retreat, activities involving water.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Virgo You’re coming into a new cycle centered on taking what you know and what you’ve got and then making the most of it in the real world. Assimilating information and experience, learning lessons and putting them into practice – that’s the focus as this cycle unfolds. It’s a time for prudence and stewardship, a time to tend to the details. You probably already have the grand ideals and visions: now you must get your hands dirty with the bricks and mortar and your mind busy with putting it all together.
Mercury in Libra A new cycle begins for you, signaling a greater than usual interest in relationships, social connections, and the arts – on a more intellectual level than in the past, most likely. Seeing both sides of an issue, and figuring out resolutions to opposing views: these things take on more importance in your life.
Mars in Gemini Learning, communicating, the exchange of ideas: these are the experiences you crave as a means to make your mark now, as a new phase begins in your life. You’re a person with something to say, and you realize that others have information that is essential to your goals. A time of much mental energy and initiative … perhaps with an element of conflict tossed in for good measure.
Jupiter in Aries Faith in yourself and your future is emphasized as you begin this new cycle. A feeling that anything is possible leads to new ventures, a clean break from the past. At its best, this is a very positive and optimistic new cycle in your life, but at times, overconfidence can border on foolhardy bravery. Don’t burn your bridges behind you!
Saturn in Aquarius Ideals are in for a period of testing, as a new phase begins in your life. What are principles worth, unless they are put into practice? That’s an important question for you now. This could mean you may be disappointed by causes you believe in – but if you abandon your principles, you lose.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
