Romance & Relationship Report
Daily Trends
The FULL MOON occurs on Thursday, May 7, 2020, at 6:45 AM EDT.
On Thursday morning, the Sun in Taurus opposes the Moon in Scorpio. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time—a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.
The Taurus-Scorpio polarity deals with the balance between all that is mine (Taurus) and all that is yours (Scorpio). It also emphasizes the concept of form (Taurus) versus transformation (Scorpio). While Taurus deals with matter, personal values, material goods, possessions, and security, Scorpio rules the destruction of form, shared possessions, change, and transformation. The Sun in Taurus encourages happiness with the simple, tangible things in life, while the Scorpio Moon draws our attention to complexities, intangibles, and mysteries.
Neglecting either end of the axis will surely backfire on us. Ideally, a balance should be found between the two energies, and this is what the Full Moon invites us to do. This Full Moon is about emotional declarations. Something has been building inside of us, likely of an intimate nature, and now is the time when the energy of the cosmos fairly demands that we let it out.
Over the next two weeks, we will discover what this declaration means for us. For now, we can’t sit on our feelings — we need to express them. The Full Moon illuminates this conflict between collecting and sharing. With the Moon full and bright in the sky, symbolic “illumination” occurs in our own lives. However, these new feelings and revelations are emotional ones, as emotions burst forth into our consciousness. It’s time to express ourselves and to let things out of our systems. Of course, we might want to exercise some care while doing so, knowing that what is coming out of us is new and not particularly rational as yet.
Full Moons are about exposing or illuminating issues that are already there, but that have not yet been dealt with. Where does the Full Moon fall by house in your natal chart? Read more here.
We have conviction and tenacity, and we are willing to make necessary changes, but there can be some tension and impatience involved with our revelations now.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 17 degrees and 20 minutes of Taurus, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 13 to 21 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) most significantly.

This week: The Sun is in Taurus; Mercury is in Taurus; Venus is in Gemini; Mars is in Aquarius.
The Sun is in Taurus from April 19-May 20. In Taurus, the Sun is methodical, sensual, and receptive. The Sun in Taurus is most active when it is defending or resisting things! As the Sun moves through Taurus when plants take root, our determination and security needs are strong. Taurus is loyal to all that is familiar, and values longevity. The shadow side of Taurus is possessiveness and bullheadedness.
Mercury is in Taurus from April 27-May 11. When Mercury is in Taurus, our thinking is down to earth, solid, and grounded. Common sense reigns over more fanciful thinking. We communicate more deliberately under this influence, and our minds are oriented to the world of the five senses. We prefer the tried and true rather than new ways of thinking. Attention to one thing at a time can simplify our lives, but we may be in danger of narrow, overly conservative, or rigid thinking.
Venus is in Gemini from April 3-August 7. In Gemini, we have a finger in every pie. Curiosity motivates us on romantic and social levels. “Variety is the spice of life” is the attitude now. We are sociable, communicative, and interested. We can be animated and fun but may also keep our distance on an emotional level. Attractions now may begin with words, as we tend to bond more readily on a mental level with Venus in Gemini. The shadow side of Gemini is fickleness.
Mars is in Aquarius from March 30-May 13. Dynamic yet erratic energy levels, achieving our goals through hit or miss tactics, and impersonal expression of anger are characteristics of Mars in Aquarius. We are team players–cooperative and less concerned about personal power. We are attracted to unconventional methods, and tend to approach problems from an intellectual, detached perspective.
Jupiter entered Capricorn on December 2nd, 2019, and will transit the sign until December 19th, 2020. Read more about the Jupiter in Capricorn transit.
In 2020, Saturn divides its time between the signs of Capricorn and Aquarius. Saturn transits Capricorn until March 21, 2020; and then finishes up its transit from July 1 to December 17, 2020. Read about Saturn’s transit through Capricorn here. Saturn transits Aquarius from March 21 to July, 1, 2020, and then later, from December 17, 2020, to March 7, 2023.
Uranus is in Taurus. Uranus first transited Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and is now consistently in the sign (since March 6th, 2019) until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle. There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Gemini from April 3-August 7. In Gemini, Venus is communicative, sociable but emotionally aloof, insatiably curious, and a little bit flighty. Fickleness with our affections is a strong possibility, but the desire for a meeting of minds is strong and the urge to socialize dominates. Some detachment from our emotions is likely, which may be a breath of fresh air for some. The lines of communication open, although we may only scratch the surface of things. Under this influence, love is playful and lighthearted. Fickleness is the shadow side of Venus in Gemini.
This week: On Sunday, Venus forms a square to Neptune on Sunday. Due to an upcoming retrograde (Venus will be retrograde from May 13-June 25), this aspect will form again later this month and then again in late July. With this aspect in play, we’re not seeing things clearly when our hearts are involved. We may not know what or who to believe now as wishful thinking distorts our perceptions in our love lives.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Gemini Saying (or writing) it with style comes naturally now. A yen for variety is a hallmark of this phase, and this especially applies to romantic experience and artistic tastes. (The latter tends to focus on literature in general and poetry in particular.) A sociable, congenial, slightly frivolous orientation sets in.
Venus semi-square Mercury April 28-29. Communications between lovers may feel superficial or unsatisying, and perhaps awkward. We may be especially sensitive to what’s being communicated now.
Venus square Neptune May 3 and then May 20. Relationship ups and downs characterize this transit–a time when romantic mirages are more than likely. We see what we hope to see, rather than what really is. The “highs” of a relationship begun under this energy may be thrilling, but the accompanying “lows” are bound to set in, and they can be extremely draining. Be careful not to set yourself up for disappointment.
Venus conjunct Mercury May 21-22. Favors playfulness in love and enhanced communication between partners.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Sunday, May 3rd, from 10:24 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Libra the next day, Monday, May 4th, at 3:09 AM EDT.
VOC Moon on Tuesday, May 5th, from 10:31 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Scorpio the next day, Wednesday, May 6th, at 3:05 AM EDT.
VOC Moon on Thursday, May 7th, from 10:39 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Sagittarius the next day, Friday, May 8th, at 3:16 AM EDT.

Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
The Moon is waxing this week until the Full Moon on the 7th, which is generally considered favorable for new beginnings, although with exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details). The Moon is waning after the Full Moon on the 7th, which is generally considered unfavorable for new beginnings, again with exceptions.
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs on Sunday, May 3rd, from approximately 12:25 PM to 10:20 PM EDT, while the Moon is in Virgo. Another short window occurs on Thursday, May 7th, from approximately 10:15 to 10:35 PM EDT, while the Moon is in Scorpio. Another window occurs from Saturday, May 9th, at approximately 4:15 PM EDT, until Sunday, May 10th, at approximately 2:10 AM EDT, while the Moon is in Sagittarius. This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Venus square Neptune. Relationship ups and downs characterize this transit – a time when romantic mirages are more than likely. We see what we hope to see, rather than what really is. The “highs” of a relationship begun under this energy may be thrilling, but the accompanying “lows” are bound to set in, and they can be extremely draining. Be careful not to set yourself up for disappointment. The same goes for finances – what appears to be a great buy is likely to turn out to be a financial drain or money pit. Lines can blur when it comes to pursuit of pleasure, as we can convince ourselves to believe what we want to believe.
Mercury conjunct Sun. We are especially sharp, communicative, and open at this time, as our wants are aligned with our thoughts. It’s a favorable time for solving problems. What we say or write now has impact, for better or for worse!
Mercury sextile Neptune. Intuition runs high; we are more sensitive artistically; imagination is stirred; and we have an increased appreciation for subtleties. We are inspired and we are able to inspire others with our words.
Mercury semi-square Chiron. Communications may be careless, hurtful or perceived as hurtful under this influence. It can be hard to read the intention behind the words used to communicate now. There may be impatience with rules, worry or guilty feelings, and conflicting viewpoints now.
Mercury trine Pluto. Our mental faculties are attuned to otherworldly impressions, offering us increased insight, psychological understanding and awareness, and focused attention.
Note: Times given in the table/calendar above are Eastern Time (ET).

MAY 3
The Moon spends the day in the sign of Virgo. As productive as we’d like to be under the influence of an organized Virgo Moon, a Venus-Neptune square occurs tonight, casting a veil over our needs, wants, and perceptions. We may be dreaming up the ideal, which can clash with reality, and we can be lacking discrimination, particularly when it comes to people we care about, our relationships, and material things. We should make an effort to separate fact from fiction so that we don’t set ourselves up for disappointment. What appears to be a great buy or something we really need may very well turn out to be useless to us, or worse, a financial drain or money pit. Lines can blur when it comes to the pursuit of pleasure, as we can convince ourselves to believe what we want to believe. We’re likely too close to the situation. Examining discontent experienced now may be an opportunity to identify where we’ve neglected our spiritual, idealistic, or imaginative needs.
The void Moon occurs from 10:24 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Libra the next day, Monday, May 4th, at 3:09 AM EDT.
MAY 4
Mercury aligns with the Sun in the sign of Taurus today, offering us a nice window of opportunity to clearly see our goals in the areas of self-worth, values, money, and personal possessions. This is a superior conjunction of Mercury and the Sun and can stimulate an epiphany, illumination of a matter, or a clearing of the air. We are sharp, communicative, and open at this time, and what we say or write now has a strong impact, for better or for worse! An idea or plan can come to full bloom now. We may want to watch for intellectualizing issues that require sensitivity. The true North Node of the Moon enters the sign of Gemini today and will transit the sign until January 2022. During this cycle, we’re challenged to communicate more effectively, heartfully, and mindfully. Taking more care getting the facts and details right is vital at this time. We’re likely to do more fact-checking before jumping to conclusions, and we’re challenged to avoid too quickly dismissing others’ opinions. Instead of hurrying through life, afraid to be tied down, we should pay more attention to the details of everyday life. We’ll be learning to truly listen to others and discover the value of authentic communication and exchange, seeing both sides of a situation before making decisions.
The void Moon continues until 3:09 AM EDT when the Moon enters Libra.
MAY 5
The Moon spends the day in the sign of gracious, respectful Libra. We’re looking at things from a different perspective and giving our relationships their due attention. While we want to keep the peace and we can be quite successful at it in spots today, there can be some tensions related to following our ambitions or the rules. Today’s Mars-Uranus quintile can help us find channels for expressing our need for change and progress in creative and unique ways. It’s easier than usual to solve problems or to find our way around them.
The void Moon occurs from 10:31 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Scorpio tomorrow, Wednesday, May 6th, at 3:05 AM EDT.
MAY 6
The Moon continues its transit of Libra just until 3:05 AM EDT, after which the Moon is in Scorpio. We’re seeking more depth to our experiences or a stronger connection to a project or person with the Scorpio Moon. Our intuition is keen, and we’re passionate about what we’re doing. We seek out emotionally satisfying and involving activities. We tend to see through pretenses, and we read between the lines rather than accept everything at face value. Good energy is with us for connecting, research, and purposeful work. However, the Moon’s square to Saturn this morning and opposition to Uranus this afternoon can point to feeling blocked or at the mercy of others’ unreliability. As the day advances, we get closer to a Mercury-Neptune sextile, exact tomorrow morning, that expands our minds and encourages our imagination.
The void Moon continues until the Moon enters Scorpio at 3:05 AM EDT.
MAY 7
Mercury forms a sextile with Neptune this morning, stirring our imagination. We can experience a sense of knowing and understanding with minimal explanation or instruction. Intuition is highlighted or awakened, and we tend to apply it to practical matters creatively. We have an increased appreciation for subtleties, and this aids our understanding of others and situations. The Full Moon occurs at 6:46 AM today in the sign of Scorpio, reminding us of the need to consider others’ support, contribution, needs, wants, and input, and possibly forcing awareness of relationship imbalances. If we’ve been focusing too closely on material and comfort needs, we may need this cosmic nudge to embrace intangibles and spiritual growth. Discoveries made now can have a magical or private quality to them. The Full Moon is a time of culmination, and with the Moon full and bright in the sky, symbolic illumination occurs in our lives. These new revelations are emotional ones, as feelings burst forth into our consciousness. We have conviction and tenacity now, and we are willing to make necessary changes, but there can be some tension and impatience involved with our revelations.
The void Moon occurs from 10:39 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Sagittarius the next day, Friday, May 8th, at 3:16 AM EDT.
MAY 8
The Moon continues to transit Scorpio until 3:16 AM EDT when it enters Sagittarius, sparking a desire to learn and discover. Its sextile to Saturn this morning is concrete and practical. However, we should watch for taking on too much or wasting energy with a semi-sextile between Mars and Jupiter active today. We might want very much to be productive but somehow go in circles, mainly because we may be overreaching until we settle on a plan and take things step by step. The morning’s Mercury-Chiron semi-square challenges us to communicate with more sensitivity. While this aspect can point to a tendency to doubt our perceptions, as the day advances, we head towards a Mercury-Pluto trine, exact tomorrow morning, that helps us discern and focus our minds.
The void Moon continues until the Moon enters Sagittarius today at 3:16 AM EDT.
MAY 9
Mercury forms a trine with Pluto this morning and is approaching a trine to Jupiter, exact tomorrow. We’re in good shape for profound insight, psychological understanding, awareness, and focused attention. We seek out the hidden message now. This very concentrated influence promotes developing strategy and plans and using our powers of persuasion. It’s a good day for making astute observations, solving problems, and getting to the bottom line. We want to attach ourselves to meaningful projects now. The Moon spends the day in the sign of forward-looking, optimistic Sagittarius.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Virgo
We instinctually gravitate towards practical activities under the influence of a Virgo Moon. In an urge to set things right, we might easily find ourselves re-organizing and rethinking plans. Emotional satisfaction comes from solving problems, making order out of confusion, and helping others. Health matters might come into focus. We notice the smaller parts that make up the whole, and instead of letting nagging details bother us, we might work on ironing them out so that we can feel more confident moving ahead.
The Moon in Virgo generally favors the following activities: Mental pursuits, work activities, services, and routines. Activities that would benefit from tending to details.
When the Moon is in Libra
Creating order is the focus, not necessarily through tidying or organizing as was the case while the Moon was in Virgo, but rather through pleasing interactions with others and aesthetics in our environment. We tend to solve problems through diplomacy, and we are more able to put aside our own emotions in order to achieve the peace we crave. The tendency now is to avoid direct confrontations. Decisions do not come easily. Seeing both sides to any given situation is the main reason for hesitation. Fear of losing others' approval is another.
The Moon in Libra generally favors the following activities: Relationship and partnership issues, activities involving teamwork and cooperation, activities that involve self-examination, activities related to beauty.
When the Moon is in Scorpio
Intensity is what the Moon in Scorpio is all about. Whether it's passion, elation, sorrow, or desire, emotions are felt on a deeply personal level. We are motivated by the desire to get to the bottom of things, and we instinctively read between the lines. Superficiality won't work for us now. The Moon in Scorpio urges us to uncover our own power, and it's an excellent time to rid ourselves of old fears and limiting habits. It can be an intimate and passionate time. Avoid manipulative tactics, brooding, and suspiciousness.
The Moon in Scorpio generally favors the following activities: Taxes, accounting, intimacy issues, psychological examinations, research, self-examination, getting rid of old things.
When the Moon is in Sagittarius
The Moon is at her most optimistic and upbeat in Sagittarius. We are motivated by a need to seek the truth, and we are ready to pursue a new vision. We are not interested in details just now. Instead, we focus on the big picture. New experiences and adventures satisfy a deep emotional need. Spontaneity is the key. We may also be inclined toward overdoing and overstating. We don't want to plan ahead, and prefer to "wing it".
The Moon in Sagittarius generally favors the following activities: Adventurous activities that involve "winging it", travel, higher education, starting publishing projects, advertising, sports, physical activity.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Taurus The cycle now dawning in your life emphasizes stability, substance, practicality, and the concept of value – value in the material as well as psycho-spiritual sense. This marks a time of building to last, of appreciating the substantial rather than ephemeral. Consolidating past gains rather than focusing on radical new departures is likely to be a major theme for you during this cycle. Appreciating the finer things of life is another hallmark of this phase, which marks a time when you should be concentrating on “smelling the roses” rather than passing them by in such a hurry.
Mercury in Taurus “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” – that’s the key to the way you think at a time like this. Practical, utilitarian ideas are the ones that make the most sense now – putting them to good use is a focus for you. Material things are foremost on your mind in many respects: an emphasis on the real rather than the ideal.
Venus in Gemini Saying (or writing) it with style comes naturally now. A yen for variety is a hallmark of this phase, and this especially applies to romantic experience and artistic tastes. The latter tends to focus on literature in general and poetry in particular. A sociable, congenial, slightly frivolous orientation sets in.
Mars in Aquarius The reformer, the inventor, the engineer, the revolutionary – these are important archetypes for you as a new cycle gets underway in your life. They are icons of the ambitions that stir you at a time like this. Independence, freedom from past patterns, and a daring readiness to innovate: such are the paths of achievement for you now.
Jupiter in Capricorn Respect, status, and achievement are central goals for you as a new phase begins in your life. Creating a structure to empower and maintain your ideals and principles becomes a high priority, an article of faith. By taking on greater responsibilities of this kind, you become an inspiration to others. Ambition unlimited always ends in defeat.
Saturn in Aquarius Ideals are in for a period of testing, as a new phase begins in your life. What are principles worth, unless they are put into practice? That’s an important question for you now. This could mean you may be disappointed by causes you believe in – but if you abandon your principles, you lose.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone and everyone in their place…
