Daily Trends
The FULL MOON occurs on Sunday, August 22nd, 2021, at 8:02 AM EDT.
On Sunday morning, the Full Moon occurs when the Sun in Leo forms an opposition to the Aquarius Moon.
This is the second Full Moon in Aquarius this year (the first occurred last month on July 23, 2021). Interestingly, this lunation occurs late in the sign of Aquarius, right near the cusp of Pisces.
The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time – a time of romance, fertilization, and blossoming feelings or relationships.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 29 degrees and 37 minutes of Aquarius. As the second Full Moon in Aquarius this year and occurring at the tail-end of the sign, this is about final events that awaken our feelings and that might spur us into action.
The Leo Sun is proud and intensely individual–not content with simply being just one of the team. The Aquarius Moon, while individualistic as well, values independence and the team, community, and group spirit. The Full Moon illuminates this conflict.
When a Full Moon occurs, we can burst forth with proclamations and outpours that seem fresh and new, simply because they are not yet rationalized. In fact, a Full Moon illuminates feelings, attitudes, and circumstances that are already in existence.
This is a time of awakening to the need for others or to answer to humanitarian impulses. In effect, it’s the second prompt in 2021 to recognize these needs and feelings.
The following chart is drawn for the time of the Full Moon.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 29 degrees and 37 minutes of Aquarius, opposite the Sun at 29 degrees and 37 minutes of Leo, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 26 to 30 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) and 0 to 4 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) most significantly.
Above is another chart wheel of the Full Moon with additional points. Be sure to click to enlarge the chart, and after you do, there is a further option to enlarge.

This week: The Sun is in Leo to August 22nd, after which the Sun is in Virgo; Mercury is in Virgo; Venus is in Libra; Mars is in Virgo.
The Sun is in Leo from July 22 to August 22. In Leo, the Sun is proud, outgoing, and playful. The Leo Sun is intensely individual—not content with simply being just one of the team. It’s time to shine, add a touch of color and drama to our lives, and perform. Like the flowers and fruit of the season–blossoming and ripened–this is a time when we want to enjoy ourselves and express ourselves. We are more generous and grand in our gestures and attitudes. On the shadow side, we can also be self-centered and vain.
The Sun is in Virgo from August 22 to September 22. Our focus shifts to the pieces of the puzzle–the little details of our lives. It is now time to take care of practical concerns. Tending to the details of everyday life may not sound like loads of fun, but it can certainly free us from unnecessary stress that results from “collecting” odds and ends of unfinished business. This is an ideal time to get organized, to do detail work, and to improve communications on the job.
Mercury is in Virgo from August 11-30. When Mercury is in Virgo, we value precision in speech, thought, and process. This is a time when we analyze and discriminate between what we deem useful or impractical. Mercury feels right at home in Virgo, one of the signs that it rules. Dealing with details is natural and easy now. We need to be careful that we don’t lose perspective if we find ourselves lost in details. We should also be aware of the possibility of expressing ourselves in an overly factual manner, so much so that we come across as dry, critical, or unimaginative.
Venus is in Libra from August 16-September 10. We are more inclined to employ charm rather than aggressive behavior in order to get what we want during this cycle. Although Venus in Libra virtually lives for relationships, there is an air of cool detachment to this energy. We are very obliging with others–quite willing to negotiate and compromise. We can be especially idealistic about love. We prefer things be done the “right” way, and are turned off by aggressive or uncouth behavior.
The shadow side of this position is dependency, inconsistency, and superficiality. In an attempt to avoid unpleasant situations, we could easily gloss over deeper issues at play in our relationships. It’s probably best to avoid the trap of acquiescing to our partners but privately resenting the fact or thinking ourselves martyrs for doing so! This is also a time when we are more artistically inclined. We tend to seek balance in our personal environment.
Mars is in Virgo from July 29-September 14. In Virgo, Mars is somewhat of a workhorse. We have a passion for details, as well as a need to do the right thing at just the right time under this influence. The satisfaction of a job well done is one of your greatest incentives now. We are more precise and concerned about performance.
Jupiter is in Aquarius from December 19th, 2020, to May 13, 2021, and then from July 28 to December 28, 2021. Read more about the Jupiter in Aquarius transit. Jupiter is in Pisces from May 13th to July 28th, when it retreats into Aquarius. Jupiter returns to Pisces on December 28th, 2021. There will be another part to this 3-part act in 2022! Read more about the Jupiter in Pisces transit.
Saturn transits Aquarius from March 21 to July 1, 2020, and from December 17th, 2020, until March 7, 2023. Read about Saturn’s transit of Aquarius.
Uranus is in Taurus. Uranus transits Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and then from March 6th, 2019, until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle.
There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Libra from August 16 to September 10. Venus rules Libra and thus is dignified in the sign. Venus feels right “at home” in Libra, where she seeks to balance and harmonize. With Venus in Libra, we can easily be in love with love. We are more comfortable with a close partner with whom we can seek to have a balanced relationship. We favor employing charm over aggressive pursuit to get what we want.
Although Venus in Libra is very relationship-focused, there is an air of cool detachment to this energy.
This week: On Sunday, the 22nd, we’re anxious to grow and improve, and we may draw in situations that help us do just that. On Sunday and Monday (August 22-23), we’re ready to lock something down, make a commitment, or simply embrace responsibility.
On Wednesday to Thursday, we seek more meaning or excitement from our relationships, pastimes, and pleasures. Our humor is strong, our interactions inspire us, and we’re open to change. However, we may be restless or not appreciative of what we have, feeling that the grass may be greener elsewhere. We can be commitment-phobic. Still, our interactions can open up soft spots or trigger sensitive issues, which can help us understand ourselves and others more deeply.
On Saturday, the 28th, we can be uncertain how to integrate our needs for companionship with the desire to be free or independent.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Libra As this new cycle takes hold in your life, romance and social interaction take on a greater importance for you. Harmonious ties to others are what you yearn for; refinement and elegance are what you seek. The ideal partnership, the perfect balance, the highest standards of truth and beauty – these are some of the things that quicken your pulse now.
Venus sesquiquadrate Uranus August 15. Uncertainty about the desire to be close to someone. Freedom versus closeness. A desire to experiment in the romance department may be fleeting and ultimately unsatisfying or frustrating.
Venus trine True North Node August 21-22. We are more concerned about harmonizing and tend to be agreeable and cooperative. We could feel lucky in love, and we could meet someone who is good for us. Fortunate connections might be made now.
Venus trine Saturn August 22-23. Relationships are stabilized and steady, although feelings are expressed reservedly, formally, or sparingly. A new sense of realism and maturity in existing partnerships. Relationships begun under this influence possess a distinctly practical theme, almost as if the partnership is a business endeavor, and have much potential to last.
Venus sesquiquadrate Jupiter August 25. We experience a strong desire for more pleasure in our lives, which can be excessive. Take care not to overstate your feeWe experience a strong desire for more pleasure in our lives, which can be excessive. Take care not to overstate your feelings or to set up unrealistic expectations in your partnerships.lings or to set up unrealistic expectations in your partnerships.
Venus opposition Chiron August 25-26. Love cannot be forced. This is not a commitment-friendly transit, as we may feel alienated for no apparent reason and unwilling to give of ourselves. Our relationships may open up some inner wound.
Venus quincunx Uranus August 28. Impulsive spending, peculiar attractions, fear of commitment, freedom vs. intimacy issues. We might question whether we need more excitement in our relationships, or whether we need freedom from them; yet we don’t feel confident enough to rock the boat.
Venus quincunx Neptune September 3. Idealism and disappointments in love. Avoid becoming blinded by what you want to see, rather than what really is. Doubts about love.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects.
The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass.
The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Sunday, August 22nd, from 8:02 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to the Sun), until the Moon enters Pisces at 8:43 AM EDT.
VOC Moon on Tuesday, August 24th, from 5:12 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Pluto), until the Moon enters Aries at 2:57 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Thursday, August 26th, from 5:14 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Taurus the next day, Friday, August 27th, at 12:27 AM EDT.

Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
The Moon is waxing this week only until the Full Moon on the morning of the 22nd, which is usually considered favorable for new beginnings, with exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details). The Moon is waning this week after the Full Moon on the 22nd, which is generally considered unfavorable for new beginnings, also with exceptions.
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs this week on Thursday, August 26th, from approximately 3:05 PM to 5:10 PM EDT, while the Moon is in Aries. The next window will occur early next week–from appoximately 5:40 AM to 10:55 AM EDT, on Sunday, August 29th, while the Moon is in Taurus.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Mars trine Uranus. Bursts of energy and creativity. We are willing to take risks, possess personal courage, and can readily effect positive changes in our lives. We are naturally bold and assertive, willing to experiment, and conscious of a need to act independently. Our ideas may be ground-breaking, and at the very least progressive. A strong desire to make things happen is with us now.
Venus trine Saturn. Affections stabilize and mature. Affections stabilize and mature. Maturity with others allows us to take the bad with the good, and finds us seeing our relationships realistically. Small advances can be made in business and in partnerships through strengthening and bonding. Support from older people or authority figures may come by way of solid advice or more tangible help. Renewed ties to old friends are possible, or a new sense of responsibility can be felt in existing friendships. Business sense is good.
Mercury opposition Neptune. We are mentally lazy, finding that our minds wander when presented with technical facts. It’s hard to get solid answers from others, and we can too easily misrepresent ourselves. Avoid signing contracts or formalizing agreements. There can be misunderstandings, misinformation, wishful thinking, confusion, some depression, carelessness, and deception. Our thinking may be self-defeating.
Mercury sesquiquadrate Saturn. Red tape, re-doing tasks you thought you finished, problems getting from point A to point B, delays in communication, negative thinking, hyper-sensitivity and criticism.
Venus sesquiquadrate Jupiter. We might take great strides to get noticed. Avoid impulsive buying. Problems in our personal life likely won’t get resolved under this influence. Avoid hasty (or haughty!) decisions. We might overstate our feelings or promise more than we can deliver, and the tendency to overdo is strong.
Venus opposition Chiron. Disappointments in love relationships can occur now as we focus on the differences and weaknesses rather than the strong points. We are more aware, and possibly resentful of, imbalances in our relationships. We are less open to romantic feelings and more insecure about whether our affections will be returned.
Mercury trine Pluto. Our mental faculties are attuned to otherworldly impressions, offering us increased insight, psychological understanding and awareness, and focused attention.
Mercury quincunx (inconjunct) Jupiter. We may have big ideas under this influence, but we may also overestimate our abilities or underestimate the situation. Avoid jumping into something without planning ahead, as important details are too easy to overlook. Also, avoid making promises you may not be able to fulfill, and read the fine print!
Venus quincunx Uranus. Impulsive spending, peculiar attractions, fear of commitment, and freedom vs. intimacy issues may be themes now. We might question whether we need more excitement in our relationships (or leisure activities), or whether we need freedom from them; yet we don’t feel confident enough to rock the boat.

AUGUST 22
The Moon reaches Full at 8:02 AM EDT, shortly before it leaves the sign of Aquarius. This is the second Full Moon in Aquarius this year (the first occurred last month on July 23rd). Today’s Full Moon is in the final degree of the sign, bringing a very full, bright, and perhaps final perspective on a matter. Realizations are full-on. It’s a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of what we started around the time of the New Moon. Romance, fertilization, and blossoming feelings or relationships figure strongly. The Leo Sun is proud and intensely individual–not content with simply being just one of the team. The Aquarius Moon, while individualistic as well, values independence and the team, community, and group spirit. These luminaries oppose one another today, stirring this conflict. Outpours now might seem fresh and new, simply because we haven’t yet rationalized them. In fact, a Full Moon illuminates feelings, attitudes, and circumstances that have been brewing under the surface. As the second Full Moon in Aquarius this year and occurring at the tail-end of the sign, this is about final events that awaken our feelings, and that might spur us into action. It’s a time of awakening to the need for others or to answer to humanitarian impulses, and in effect, it’s another prompt to recognize these needs and feelings. The Moon leaves Aquarius at 8:43 AM EDT when it moves into layered, compassionate Pisces. The Sun moves into Virgo this afternoon, where it will transit until September 22nd. Our focus shifts to the pieces of the puzzle–the details of our lives. It’s now time to take care of practical concerns. Attending to the details of daily living can free us from the unnecessary stress that results from “collecting” odds and ends of unfinished business. It’s an ideal cycle to get organized, do detail work, and improve connections and communications on the job. Rediscovering the joy of our work, services, chores, and routines can be in focus in the month ahead.
The void Moon occurs from 8:02 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to the Sun), until the Moon enters Pisces at 8:43 AM EDT.
AUGUST 23
A Venus-Saturn trine today encourages sorting out our feelings. We’re approaching love, relationships, money, or pleasure-seeking in a more mature, responsible, and level-headed way. It’s a good day for stabilizing relations, as well as for demonstrating our affection through practical support, service, and shows of loyalty. This influence reminds us of the value of constancy and reliability. It tends to generate a realistic and perhaps materialistic view of our relationships. It can also be a time when we’re enjoying our responsibilities, work, or duties more than usual. At the same time, we’re noticing and appreciating the more unique elements of people, situations, and projects today. The Pisces Moon opposes Mars and Mercury in Virgo, suggesting a battle between our need to unwind or detach and our desire to keep busy, organize, and solve practical problems.
AUGUST 24
A Mercury-Neptune opposition today suggests we might see others in an unrealistic light, and discrepancies can emerge that challenge our thinking. Concentrating on technical facts can be difficult. We could find ourselves on a mental teeter-totter, see-sawing between fact and fiction. If our minds are wandering, it may be that we’ve recently neglected to feed our imaginations. With this transit, we should watch for misrepresenting ourselves, overlooking critical practical details, and self-defeating thoughts. However, this can be a good time for stretching our thinking to dream up possibilities we might miss on a regular day. The Moon spends part of the day (until 2:57 PM EDT) in dreamy Pisces, after which it transits go-getting Aries.
The void Moon occurs from 5:12 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Pluto), until the Moon enters Aries at 2:57 PM EDT.
AUGUST 25
The Moon spends the day in Aries, and we approach the world more assertively. We want to take action or start something new. With the Moon in Aries, our independence is more important to us. With Mercury in a minor challenging aspect to Saturn today, we should watch for hypersensitivity, negative thinking, and unhelpful criticism. It’s a somewhat beneficial influence for doing editing work and identifying flaws or fixing problems, however. Adding a layer of restlessness to the day’s astrology is a Venus-Jupiter minor square. We seek a little more from our pleasures, money, or relationships. Channeled well, this transit can encourage us to improve our situation, but otherwise might lead to over-indulgence, immoderation, or exaggeration. High expectations can leave us vulnerable to ups and downs. It can be tempting to overreach if we’re not in touch with our feelings or are discontented. This influence can serve to exaggerate our feelings, wants, and perceived needs. It’s best to manage impulsiveness and hastiness.
AUGUST 26
Venus opposes Chiron this morning, and there can be disappointments as we focus on the differences and weaknesses rather than the strong points in our interactions. Temporarily, we can be less confident about our relationships, social life, worth, money, or social skills. We are more aware and possibly resentful of imbalances in our relationships and insecure about whether our affections are reciprocated. While this transit can point to a tendency to doubt ourselves, a Mercury-Pluto trine is also in play, helping us discern matters and focus our minds. The potential is with us for profound insight, psychological understanding, awareness, and focused attention. We seek the hidden message and readily draw upon our powers of persuasion. Dealing with doubt and guilt today can help clear the path for opportunities. It’s a good time to devise strategies and make observations. We are exceptionally skilled at solving problems and getting to the bottom line. The Moon spends the day in active, decisive Aries.
The void Moon occurs from 5:14 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Taurus the next day, Friday, August 27th, at 12:27 AM EDT.
AUGUST 27
The Moon leaves Aries and enters Taurus shortly into the day, at 12:27 AM EDT. The Taurus Moon forms a trine to the Virgo Sun this morning, encouraging us to enjoy what we have going for us. The Taurus Moon is one of the more even-tempered positions, and we tend to seek comfort, familiarity, security, and pleasure more than anything. There can be a slowing down with this transit – a stabilizing of our feelings and considerably less urgency. However, with a Mercury-Jupiter quincunx, we might waver, unable to reach a wholly satisfying decision or conclusion, making it better to reserve judgment. We may overestimate our abilities or underestimate the situation. We should aim to avoid jumping into something without planning, as necessary details are too easy to overlook at the moment.
The void Moon continues until the Moon enters Taurus at 12:27 AM EDT.
AUGUST 28
The Moon spends the day in Taurus, encouraging our desire for comfort and security. With the Moon’s trine to Mars in Virgo, we’re ready to work for these things. Earthy activities appeal now more than usual, and we find a sense of peace and contentment with familiar and reliable things. However, a Venus-Uranus quincunx suggests some wavering. It’s not easy integrating our needs for companionship or closeness with our desire for freedom and independence. There is a sense that we can only have one or the other. Temporarily, we’re unlikely to feel confident enough to rock the boat, but taming rebelliousness makes sense now.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Aquarius
Attraction to all that is new and unusual, and an instinctive need for improvement, characterize the Moon in Aquarius. Reactions are more intellectual than emotional, and interactions are more impersonal than personal, under this influence. This is a time that promotes social gatherings, dealing with group ideals and goals for the future, brainstorming, new ideas, and progressive changes. We are open to new methods of doing things and we have our eye on the future. It can be hard to stick to schedules now, as personal freedom is most important to us.
The Moon in Aquarius generally favors the following activities: Unusual or radical undertakings, social pursuits, group projects, trying something new, joining a group.
When the Moon is in Pisces
We may not want to face reality while the Moon is in dreamy, impressionable Pisces. It can be a wistful, sensitive, intuitive, and compassionate time. We are especially imaginative, and our intuition reigns under this influence. Boundaries and walls come down, as Pisces energy merges and blends. It's a time when details are overlooked and feelings defy description.
The Moon in Pisces generally favors the following activities: Imaginative undertakings, mystical or spiritual pursuits, inner development, music and drama, going on a retreat, activities involving water.
When the Moon is in Aries
We're motivated by a strong desire to start fresh. A gut instinct to begin something new is with us now, as well as the gumption to do so. Our pioneering impulses are strong, and we feel energetic, spontaneous, and enthusiastic. We may also be tactless and impulsive now. Excess energy is best channeled into physical activity.
People can be more self-motivated and also self-focused while the Moon is in Aries. It's a competitive rather than cooperative time. Accidents and tempers flaring are more likely than usual. This period is one of more personal courage.
The Moon in Aries generally favors the following activities: Quick actions that yield immediate results. Undertakings that involve the self and the personality. (Staying power may be lacking). Self-assertion, taking on challenges, beginning short-term projects.
When the Moon is in Taurus
We are motivated by the desire for serenity, security, peace, and comfort. The Moon is at her most sensual and constant in Taurus. Our basic impulses are to relax, resist change, and "stop to smell the roses." Life slows down a little, and we get comfortable. We may also be inclined to stubbornness and materialism under this influence.
While the Moon is in Taurus, people can be emotionally constant but inflexible. It's a time of stronger focus on personal needs and comfort levels, and a period of more common sense and attention to practical matters.
The Moon in Taurus generally favors the following activities: Substantial and material actions that yield solid results. Financial activities, and those involving personal possessions, applying for a loan, beginning a potentially long-term relationship, music, home decor.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Leo “This I do for me” is your motto at a time like this. This is your time to shine, like a swirl of starstuff that has finally reached critical mass and suddenly starts to give off more light than it receives. Issues of pride, mastery, and appreciation become more and more central to your lifestream as this cycle progresses, as does a very important lesson: it’s not what you do so much as how you do it, not who you are so much as how you make others feel about themselves. If it doesn’t come from the heart, it shouldn’t matter now.
Sun in Virgo You’re coming into a new cycle centered on taking what you know and what you’ve got and then making the most of it in the real world. Assimilating information and experience, learning lessons and putting them into practice – that’s the focus as this cycle unfolds. It’s a time for prudence and stewardship, a time to tend to the details. You probably already have the grand ideals and visions: now you must get your hands dirty with the bricks and mortar and your mind busy with putting it all together.
Mercury in Virgo Mental discipline and patience are keynoted as you enter into a new cycle. Thinking things through, accounting for all the details, making careful measurements: these and similar experiences keep your mind active and involved. An interest in health and work may come to the fore.
Mars in Virgo As a new cycle dawns in your life, there arises a passion for details, a need to do just the right thing at just the right time, and a burning desire to have a place for everything and everything in its place. This can be hard on the digestion if taken to extremes! The satisfaction of a job well done is one of your greatest incentives now.
Jupiter in Aquarius Innovation, reform, and idealism are your paths to growth and gain now. New, futuristic ideas are part of this, but it’s much more than that: putting them into practice is essential because this is much more than empty idealism. A break from the past, a willingness to flaunt convention.
Saturn in Aquarius Ideals are in for a period of testing, as a new phase begins in your life. What are principles worth, unless they are put into practice? That’s an important question for you now. This could mean you may be disappointed by causes you believe in – but if you abandon your principles, you lose.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone, and everyone in their place…
