Major Love Trends 2020

Love in 2020 may be complicated at times, dear Gemini, but often happily so!

Venus, the planetary ruler of your romance sector and the goddess of love, is retrograde this year from May 13-June 25, which affects all of us in general, mainly in the areas of love and finances. These matters are not straightforward during this period, and it is a time for reviewing our attitudes rather than forging ahead boldly into new love relationships or financial projects.

While retrograde Venus cycles, which happen every approximately eighteen months for about six weeks, affect your romantic life to some degree, this one is more significant to you since it occurs entirely in your sign. Since Venus retrogrades in approximately the same area every eight years, it can help to look back on May/June 2012 to get a sense of how Venus retrograde in your sign affects you. While surrounding transits are different and your life experience is also different, some similar themes can emerge this year.

Venus retrograde in your own sign is somewhat unusual, because typically when Venus occupies your sign for a few weeks each year, you tend to enjoy special attention from love interests–a lover or love interest is generally on the same page as you, or at the very least, has your best interests at heart. You have the upper hand in love when Venus works her way through Gemini, which she does for a longer period than usual this year, from April 3-August 7. But from May 13-June 25, Venus is retrograde and that typically points to some cooling off in love relationships. So for this period of time, you and a lover might both be going through a period of review or confusion. A lover or love interest might appear to be very much in your corner, but could be giving off mixed signals. Or, this can play out entirely on the level of attraction–people want you and notice you more than usual, but don’t know how to approach you. The good news is that Venus will continue to move through your sign from June 25-August 7, and you are likely to enjoy the attention as well as the time to get more comfortable in your own skin, ideally now with more power since you’ve come to understand your needs better.

Key Periods in 2020:

Mars is in your partnership sector from January 3-February 15, 2020. This can be a time of fireworks in a partnership. You may not always feel that the ball is in your court during this period, however. You can be more ardent in your pursuit of a person or a relationship, or someone could be ardently pursuing you!

May 13-June 25 is the Venus retrograde period. If you can, avoid making any major decisions about love (and finances) during this cycle.

However, from April 3-August 7, Venus is in your sign. This is a time when the world seems to be speaking, or at least appreciating, your “love language”.
