The LAST QUARTER MOON occurs on Tuesday, November 19th, 2019, at 4:11 PM EST.
On Tuesday, the Last Quarter Moon is exact, when the Sun in Scorpio forms a square with the Moon in Leo.
The Last Quarter Moon phase points to some sort of crisis of consciousness. After basking in the awareness symbolized by the full light of the Moon at the time of last week’s Full Moon, we disperse our knowledge and come to a point when we need to sort out what works for us — and what doesn’t — in preparation for next week’s New Moon, when something new is born once again. This is not the best time to start a major project, as the decreasing light of the Moon symbolizes descent into unconsciousness. It’s time to begin finishing up the details of that which was conceived at the last New Moon. What revelations did you have last week? What did they mean for you? What can be done now?
This phase of the Moon occurs at 27 degrees and 14 minutes of Leo forming a square to the Sun at 27 degrees and 14 minutes of Scorpio, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 25 to 29 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) most significantly.

This week: The Sun is in Scorpio until November 22nd, after which the Sun is in Sagittarius; Mercury is in Scorpio; Venus is in Sagittarius; Mars is in Libra until November 19th, after which Mars is in Scorpio.
The Sun is in Scorpio from October 23-November 22. The guiding principle of Scorpio is “I desire”. Scorpio is the sign of depth, intimacy, and extremes of feeling. Superficiality simply will not do with the Sun in Scorpio. We have the desire to get to the bottom of matters. Mediocrity does not satisfy either. All that is hidden, taboo, secret, or suppressed interests us. In Libra, we strived towards equality and fairness. Scorpio, however, instinctively believes that life simply isn’t fair. Scorpio’s energy is provocative, usually in a quiet way, as well as passionate, strong-willed, and intense. It can be an immensely healing and transformative energy. Jealousy, vindictiveness, beating a dead horse, and manipulative are some of the more negative expressions of Scorpio.
The Sun is in Sagittarius from November 22-December 21. With the Sun in Sagittarius, our focus shifts from the need for an intimate connection with a person and with ourselves, to the desire to reach out to the world and connect with something larger than ourselves. While the Sun moves through this fiery, mutable sign, we can take steps to increase our understanding and awareness of the world around us. We are more able to muster up the courage to expand our horizons and branch out into new ways of thinking. We can gain more confidence and optimism by focusing on the “big picture” as we move away from our focus on the details of mundane existence. Although we may be prone to overdoing our expectations, we have the opportunity to nurture our faith, hope, and vision under this influence.
Mercury is in Scorpio from October 3-December 9. When Mercury is in Scorpio, our thoughts and communications are more probing and intense. While Mercury in Libra urged us to find balance and to arrive at fair solutions, Mercury in Scorpio instinctively knows that life simply isn’t fair. Mercury in Scorpio seeks truths in all that is hidden and undercover. We tend to probe, observe, and focus our thoughts under this influence. Looking for motivations–the more deeply buried the better–satisfies an intellectual need now. Our thoughts are profound. We throw away the superficial manners of communicating in favor of deep conversations. Scorpio is extremely sharp, profound, and analytical. Thinking is inclined to be one-track minded, focused, and even obsessive.
Venus is in Sagittarius from November 1-25. Moving from Scorpio to Sagittarius, romantic energy shifts from intense to buoyant. Sagittarius, of course, has its intense moments, considering it is a fire sign. However, its energy is considerably less focused; and, while Scorpio is most concerned with intimacy with a specific person, Sagittarius’ love is of a more universal kind. Romantic adventures, as well as a straightforward–even blunt–approach to love, are on the agenda. Gone are the intricacy and complexity of Venus in Scorpio. Truth and higher meaning are things that take priority with Sagittarius.
Mars is in Libra from October 4-November 19. We tend to use our charm as a means to an end under the influence of this cycle. Because we can see many different sides to an issue, we can be vacillating and indecisive about how to act. We don’t want to be the “bad guy”, and rarely resort to force. Instead, we attempt to win arguments with style. We are indirect in approach and inclined towards engaging in mental debates, yet we also attempt to make the opposition comfortable! Passive-aggressiveness is the shadow side of this energy.
Mars is in Scorpio from November 19, 2019-January 3, 2020. In Scorpio, Mars is driven and focused on getting what it wants. We are persevering, single-minded, and strong. The desire to experience our emotional depths, as well as the urge to penetrate the surface of life in order to explore deeper levels of existence, is powerful. We are fascinated with what others tend to repress, and are drawn to experiencing and understanding these things. We are less inclined to avoid important issues now. In some ways, we are attracted to crisis, as we see crisis as transformative and emotionally exciting. We would rather feel extreme emotions than nothing at all, as mediocrity or the “middle road” is felt to be unsatisfying.
Jupiter entered Sagittarius on November 8th, 2018, and transits the sign until December 2nd, 2019. Read more about the Jupiter in Sagittarius transit.
Jupiter will enter Capricorn on December 2nd, 2019, and will transit the sign until December 19th, 2020. Read more about the upcoming Jupiter in Capricorn transit.
Saturn transits Capricorn from December 19/20, 2017, to March 21, 2020; and then finishes up its transit from July 1 to December 17, 2020. Read about Saturn’s transit through Capricorn here.
Uranus is in Taurus. Uranus first transited Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and is now consistently in the sign (since March 6th, 2019) until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle. There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Sagittarius from November 1 to 25, 2019. Moving from Scorpio to Sagittarius, romantic energy changes from intense to buoyant. Sagittarius, of course, has its intense moments, considering it is a fire sign. However, its energy is considerably less focused; and, while Scorpio is most concerned with intimacy, Sagittarius’ love is of a more universal kind. Romantic adventures, as well as a straightforward–even blunt–approach to love, are on the agenda. Gone are the intricacy and complexity of Venus in Scorpio. Truth and higher meaning are focal points for Sagittarius. Venus in Sagittarius is forward-looking, not very specific, outgoing, and energetic. Freedom is most important in our love relationships now. We take a happy and enthusiastic approach to love, and we might find too much intensity or seriousness depressing. We have a taste for the exotic as well as for adventure with Venus in Sagittarius. The shadow side of this position is restlessness, the inability to settle down, and endlessly searching for something bigger and “better.”
This week: On Saturday, November 23rd through to the following day, Venus aligns with Jupiter in its home sign of Sagittarius, presenting a strong time for bringing more energy, warmth, and generosity to our relationships. We’re celebratory, willing to experiment, and excited to expand, grow, and learn.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Sagittarius November 1-25. A yearning for adventure and far horizons stirs in you now. To roam, to wander and wonder, to seek freedom and go where no one has gone before – these things are deep and powerful longings. A time of romantic crusades, a universal love that might not be too particular.
Venus sesquiquadrate Uranus November 15-16. Uncertainty about the desire to be close to someone. Freedom versus closeness. A desire to experiment in the romance department may be fleeting and ultimately unsatisfying or frustrating.
Venus conjunct Jupiter November 23-24. We have large appetites for love and pleasure, and generosity of spirit as well. An excellent time (all things considered) to begin a new relationship, or renew an old/existing one.
Venus square Chiron November 26. Not a commitment-friendly transit. We are somewhat fearful of investing ourselves emotionally in a relationship.
Venus opposition North Node December 1-2. This is a time for reviewing our attachments in terms of whether they are contributing to our growth.
Venus sextile Mars December 2-3. This points to success and ease in close personal interactions. We are passionate and sexy. It is a good time for financial ventures, social life, artistic pursuits, romance, and pleasure. We are now able to take the initiative and to achieve harmony and sexual fulfillment. This influence brings satisfaction to the feelings. We may make permanent ties or relationships that prove to be fruitful and fortunate.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Sunday, November 17th, from 3:15 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Mars), until the Moon enters Leo at 4:58 PM EST.
VOC Moon on Tuesday, November 19th, from 4:11 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to the Sun), until the Moon enters Virgo at 8:55 PM EST.
VOC Moon on Thursday, November 21st, from 10:31 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to the Sun), until the Moon enters Libra at 11:20 PM EST.
VOC Moon on Saturday, November 23rd, from 9:49 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Scorpio the next day, Sunday, November 24th, at 12:58 AM EST.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Mercury semi-square Jupiter. We experience information overload, and we neglect to consider details. People tend to exaggerate today. Monotonous mental tasks are harder to take under this influence. Our minds are restless.
Mars sesquiquadrate Neptune. Disorganization, lack of drive, lack of forethought, impracticality, and carelessness are strong possible energies to deal with now. Energy and time are too easily wasted. It’s hard to know what we want and where we’re headed under this influence, and passive-aggressive behavior is likely, as we may not feel effective enough to take direct action or assert ourselves directly. There may be a desire to act upon an impractical fantasy, or an unusual impulse.
Mars quincunx Chiron. We might doubt the effectiveness of our efforts to go after what we want under this influence, which can lead to passive-aggressive behavior, defensiveness, or frustration.
Mercury semi-square Venus. Difficulties in social or romantic communication are possible today. On the other hand, we may make more efforts to be polite and to communicate. Hypersensitivity, and lack of mental discipline. Our minds wander.
Sun trine Chiron. A sense of purpose or a “mission” is with us now, increasing our confidence. The desire to learn and grow through experiences and through others is strong. Problem-solving is favored.

NOVEMBER 17
The Moon transits Cancer until 4:58 PM EST, forming a square to Mars before it leaves the sign. Matters of partnership or companionship seem to clash with our high need to stick with tradition or familiar methods. The Cancer moon is sensitive and protective. Home or family matters are in stronger focus than usual. We are learning from past experiences, love, attachments, family, and even rejection. From 4:58 PM forward, the Moon is in Leo, stimulating our desire to reach out and share ourselves with others in heartfelt ways. Satisfaction comes from pride in our actions and creations. We’re likely to enjoy helping people, teaching, and growing through our connections.
The void Moon occurs from 3:15 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Mars), until the Moon enters Leo at 4:58 PM EST.
NOVEMBER 18
Mercury’s semi-square to Jupiter today suggests an optimistic outlook, but it may be a little too much so if we’re ignoring or missing essential details. Concentrating doesn’t come easily with our sense of possibilities so vast. While this is a minor aspect, Mars is transiting its final degree of Libra, and this can lead to some pressure to jump into action or a decision prematurely. We should avoid taking unnecessary risks now. The Moon transits Leo all day, inspiring our creative side. We’re proud and determined. This is a time when we seek attention – when we want to stand out for our special qualities.
NOVEMBER 19
Mars enters the sign of Scorpio early today and will transit the sign until January 3rd. In Scorpio, Mars is driven and focused on getting what it wants! We are persevering and single-minded under this influence. The desire to experience our emotional depths, as well as the urge to penetrate the surface of life to explore more profound levels of existence, is compelling. We are fascinated with what others tend to repress, and we’re drawn into experiencing and understanding these things. We are less inclined to avoid important issues now. In some ways, we are attracted to crisis, as we see it as transformative and emotionally exciting. We would rather feel extreme emotions than nothing at all, as mediocrity or the “middle road” can feel unsatisfying during this cycle. Today, with the Sun and Jupiter forming a semi-sextile today, we may need to adjust our path if we find our ideals and long-term goals are at odds with what we can realistically accomplish, which can leave us undecided for the time being. The Last Quarter Moon occurs today with the Leo Moon’s square to the Sun this afternoon, signaling a time to review and sort rather than push something new. Until the New Moon, it’s a better time to tie up loose ends, take inventory, and let go if necessary. The Moon continues its transit of Leo until 8:55 PM EST when it enters helpful, earnest Virgo.
The void Moon occurs from 4:11 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to the Sun), until the Moon enters Virgo at 8:55 PM EST.
NOVEMBER 20
The Moon’s transit of Virgo today suggests a desire for more order in our lives. However, there can be some confusion to manage now. Mercury turns direct this afternoon after retrograde motion since October 31st. Over the coming weeks, recent problems with communications and decision-making should start to improve. The answers we’ve been waiting for can arrive. Plans or projects that have stalled might now resume. We can be flooded with energies that are hard to make sense of during the shift today, however, and thus critical decision-making might be avoided for the time being, as our thinking can be skewed temporarily. As the shift from retrograde to direct occurs, there can be the magnification of problems and difficulties understanding directions. With Mars in a minor square to Neptune today as well, we may believe the route to our desires is a roundabout one. There can be some disorganization or a willingness to act upon an unrealistic fantasy or unusual impulse. It’s hard to know what we want and where we’re headed under this influence, and passive-aggressive behavior is possible, as we may not feel effective enough to take direct action or assert ourselves directly.
NOVEMBER 21
A quincunx between Mars and Chiron suggests we might doubt the effectiveness of our assertions or efforts to go after what we want, which can lead to passive-aggressive behavior, defensiveness, or frustration. We can find it challenging to be both assertive and sensitive now, and possibly see-saw between one and the other. It can be difficult to assert ourselves effectively without provoking, annoying, or concerning others. The trick is to combine both sensitivity and directness instead of narrowing our choices to either/or. The Moon spends most of the day in the sign of Virgo, entering Libra at 11:20 PM EST. The Virgo Moon is perfectionistic, helpful, and detailed, and tonight’s Libra Moon is conciliatory and balanced. As the day advances, we can be feeling good about our work, obligations, commitments, and other purposeful activities.
The Moon is void from 10:31 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to the Sun), until the Moon enters Libra at 11:20 PM EST.
NOVEMBER 22
The Sun enters Sagittarius today, where it will transit until December 21st. Our focus shifts from the need for an intimate connection with a person, project, or ourselves, to the desire to reach out to the world and connect with something larger than ourselves. Although we may be prone to overdoing our expectations, we have the opportunity to nurture our faith, hope, and vision during this cycle. The Moon spends the day in relationship-centered, gracious, and fair Libra.
NOVEMBER 23
There can be a heightened awareness of–and extra sensitivity to–words expressed today with Mercury and Venus forming a semi-square. We may be in two minds about a matter–decisions can be hard to come by. It’s not easy to concentrate under this influence, and we can be quite sensitive to what we feel people mean in their communications. As the day advances, we’re opening up. With the Sun harmonizing with Chiron, it’s easier to make progress as we are open to learning and growing rather than worrying about who’s right or wrong. Usually, with this aspect, our egos don’t get in the way and we can make progress. However, Mars is heading toward an opposition to Uranus, and tension is mounting. Egos may very well get involved, and we can be quite reactive! The Moon spends another day in the sign of Libra.
The Moon is void from 9:49 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Scorpio the next day, Sunday, November 24th, at 12:58 AM EST.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Cancer
The restlessness of the Gemini Moon gives way to an instinctive need for peace and quiet. A feeling of belonging and safety is what motivates us under this influence. The Moon feels right at home in the sign of Cancer, as it rules the sign. This Moon position has much healing potential. Although insular by nature, our feelings run deep, making it an ideal time to get in touch with what motivates us.
The Moon in Cancer generally favors the following activities: Domestic activities, those that involve awareness of personal needs. Home decor, family get-togethers.
When the Moon is in Leo
The Moon in Leo speaks to our "inner child". It's a warm, generous, whole-heartedly loving position. Pride keeps us from pettiness, but it can also prevent us from opening up and revealing how we are truly feeling. We are on stage, our feelings are grand, and we appreciate some drama in our lives. We are easily threatened by anything that seems to be impersonal. This is a time when we seek attention--when we want to stand out for our special qualities. It's a strong time for romance and any creative activity as well.
The Moon in Leo generally favors the following activities: Creative activities, activities involving children, generous undertakings, undertakings in which personal recognition is desired, and risk-taking.
When the Moon is in Virgo
We instinctually gravitate towards practical activities under the influence of a Virgo Moon. In an urge to set things right, we might easily find ourselves re-organizing and rethinking plans. Emotional satisfaction comes from solving problems, making order out of confusion, and helping others. Health matters might come into focus. We notice the smaller parts that make up the whole, and instead of letting nagging details bother us, we might work on ironing them out so that we can feel more confident moving ahead.
The Moon in Virgo generally favors the following activities: Mental pursuits, work activities, services, and routines. Activities that would benefit from tending to details.
When the Moon is in Libra
Creating order is the focus, not necessarily through tidying or organizing as was the case while the Moon was in Virgo, but rather through pleasing interactions with others and aesthetics in our environment. We tend to solve problems through diplomacy, and we are more able to put aside our own emotions in order to achieve the peace we crave. The tendency now is to avoid direct confrontations. Decisions do not come easily. Seeing both sides to any given situation is the main reason for hesitation. Fear of losing others' approval is another.
The Moon in Libra generally favors the following activities: Relationship and partnership issues, activities involving teamwork and cooperation, activities that involve self-examination, activities related to beauty.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Scorpio Who owes what, who owns what, and who decides these things: these are some of the major issues for you at the dawn of the cycle that now begins in your life. The only thing we really own is our consciousness; the only master who is never overthrown is oneself. These are lessons best learned early in this cycle. Master them, and you master everything. Dodge these issues and the great strength that could be yours will remain just out of reach. Understanding inner motivations, seeing through to the core: that’s your real path of power and enlightenment now.
Sun in Sagittarius You’re now embarking on a trek into a land of dreams – not passive daydreams, but vibrant visions of what may be. The time has come to stop looking at the world as it is and asking why. Now’s the time to imagine the world as it could be, and the question has become: “Why not?” You also cannot do everything you imagine now, but you cannot do anything you don’t KNOW you can do – so believe, and dare to make it happen! This means expanding your mind, your belief system, your whole base of knowledge and experience. Time’s a wastin’ – let no grass grow between your toes!
Mercury in Scorpio A pronounced curiosity about taboos and mysteries plays a greater part in your life now. Your mind is on cutting through the nonessentials and penetrating to the core is where your mind is at now; you want to know who (or what) pulls the strings. Sex, taxes, investments, and others of life’s most compelling phenomena may captivate your interest more than ever before.
Venus in Sagittarius A yearning for adventure and far horizons stirs in you now. To roam, to wander and wonder, to seek freedom and go where no one has gone before – these things are deep and powerful longings. A time of romantic crusades, a universal love that might not be too particular.
Mars in Libra “I’m giving you a definite maybe” – that’s the motto of the cycle you’re now entering. It’s a time of refinement and tact, of an urge to please others that is so strong as to make it hard to decide or act for fear of offending someone. You’ll quickly learn to balance this out, or you’ll discover that there is no peace in compromise – and this can be tough on close relationships. The trick is to find the win-win solution to the no-win situation – and if anyone’s ever up to it, you are now.
Mars in Scorpio Tear it down and build it up again, reach in and pluck out the offending element: that’s what the new cycle you have entered is like. Power becomes a compelling idea, perhaps even an aphrodisiac – and you’ve got a stronger than usual supply of it now. Use it, don’t abuse it – or you might find that it’s a two-edged sword!
Jupiter in Sagittarius Faith, optimism, and a yearning to explore all kinds of new horizons: these are some of the focal points in your life at this time. Travel, education, and other ways to stretch your horizons open new doors of opportunity. Religious, philosophical, and cultural matters are likely to have special appeal for you now; transmitting ideas on a broader scale brings gain.
Saturn in Capricorn Responsibility, hard work, ambition, and achievement: these are the foundations you need to build on now, as a new cycle dawns in your life. And yet, there is a tendency to be a little too hard, perhaps a bit cold, in your approach to these things. Let ambition take you to the top, but don’t let it lull you into thinking that the end justifies the means.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone and everyone in their place…
