The Last Quarter MOON occurs on Sunday, May 26, 2019, at 12:33 PM EDT.
Midday the 26th, the Last Quarter Moon is exact when the Sun in Gemini forms a square with the Moon in Pisces. The Last Quarter Moon phase points to a crisis of consciousness of sorts. After basking in the awareness symbolized by the full light of the Moon at the time of last week’s Full Moon, we disperse our knowledge and come to a point when we need to sort out what works for us–and what doesn’t–in preparation for next week’s New Moon, when something new is born once again.
This is not the best time to start a major project, as the decreasing light of the Moon symbolizes descent into unconsciousness. It’s time to begin finishing up the details of that which was conceived at the last New Moon. What revelations did you have last week? What did they mean for you? What can be done now?
This phase of the Moon occurs at 5 degrees and 9 minutes of Pisces forming a square to the Sun at 5 degrees and 9 minutes Gemini, affecting people born with personal planets and points from approximately 3 to 7 degrees of the Mutable signs the most (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces).

This week: The Sun is in Gemini; Mercury is in Gemini; Venus is in Taurus; Mars is in Cancer.
The Sun is in Gemini from May 21-June 21. Knowledge and diversity motivate us with the Sun in Gemini. We are more sociable, intellectual, and insatiably curious under this influence. We tend to scatter our energies as a result of this curiosity and awareness of all of our options. We are more communicative and versatile, but we can also be unreliable.
Mercury is in Gemini from May 21-June 4. When Mercury is in Gemini, we are especially communicative, curious, and sociable. Mercury feels right at home in Gemini, one of the signs that it rules. We tend to take more pleasure in gaining a superficial knowledge of many subjects rather than dig deep into any one topic. We are especially astute when it comes to arguing or making a point. We are attracted to wordplays, puns, and negotiations. We are easily distracted.
Venus is in Taurus from May 15-June 8. In Taurus, Venus is very sensual (naturally), content, and possessive. We seek security and value what lasts. Our appetite for pleasure is strong. Taurus values the here and the now as well as the world of the five senses. Tangible and physical expressions of love and romance are most important now. Holding on to someone we love is our tendency under Venus in Taurus. The shadow side of this is excessive possessiveness and treating our partners as objects that we own or want to own. On the financial side, Venus in Taurus looks for high-quality, solid, practical, and long-lasting items. Holding on to our possessions is more likely now.
Mars is in Cancer from May 15-July 1. We pursue our interests ardently, but we avoid a direct approach to going after we want. As well, our goals and plans are subject to mood swings and vacillations. We are defensive rather than overtly aggressive. Much of what we do depends on our mood of the moment.
Saturn transits Capricorn from December 19/20, 2017, to March 21, 2020; and then finishes up its transit from July 1 to December 17, 2020. Read about Saturn’s transit through Capricorn here.
Jupiter entered Sagittarius on November 8th, 2018, and transits the sign until December 2nd, 2019. Read more about the Jupiter in Sagittarius transit.
Uranus is in Taurus. Uranus first transited Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and is now consistently in the sign (since March 6th, 2019) until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle. There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Taurus from May 15 to June 8, 2019. In Taurus, Venus is usually quite content but can be possessive. We seek security and value that which lasts.
This week: On Wednesday and Thursday, we can experience a stronger urge to connect to and belong with others than usual as Venus harmonizes with Neptune and the North Node. Unusual attractions that add imagination, inspiration, and emotional “color” to our lives may occur now. We are attuned to the subtleties of human interaction, and we are more inclined to naturally cooperate with others. We might yearn for a soulmate or connect with others in magical ways now. Opportunities to stabilize a relationship may arrive on Thursday and Friday, but there can be some stop-and-go energy or reticence involved, and patience required.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Taurus A love of music, an appreciation for sensual pleasures and others of the finer things in life – such are the signs of the cycle which has begun for you. This is aesthetic and artistic to be sure, but it is also practical and materialistic: you develop a keen appreciation for the value of things, including the money it takes to buy them.
Venus parallel Uranus May 20-21. We embrace all that is new, unusual, and out-of-the-ordinary with regards to romantic involvements. We lose our fear of taking risks at this time. We are ready to experiment, but not necessarily ready to commit. Peculiar, sudden, or avant-garde attractions. This is an exciting but unstable energy. Friendship in love relationships becomes more important.
Venus sextile North Node May 29-30. There is a stronger desire to connect to and belong with others at this time. We are more obliging and sociable.
Venus sextile Neptune May 29-30. Unusual attractions that add imagination, inspiration, and emotional “color” to our lives may occur now. We are attuned to the subtleties of human interaction, and we are more inclined to naturally cooperate with others. An imaginative, romantic time.
Venus trine Saturn May 30-31. Relationships are stabilized and steady, although feelings are expressed reservedly, formally, or sparingly. A new sense of realism and maturity in existing partnerships. Relationships begun under this influence possess a distinctly practical theme, almost as if the partnership is a business endeavor, and have much potential to last.
Venus semi-square Chiron May 31. Love cannot be forced. This is not a commitment-friendly transit, as we may feel alienated for no apparent reason and unwilling to give of ourselves.
Venus quincunx Jupiter May 31-June 1. A strong desire for the pleasures of life is with us now, although our eyes are bigger than our stomachs. Troubles in relationships now are likely due to overblown expectations. It can be challenging to find a balance between responsibilities and the desire for self-gratification.
Venus trine Pluto June 2. Powerful and uplifting time for romantic/sexual relationships. New insights into relationships and love. Strong attractions. Relationships are intense and deep, but not draining.
Venus semi-square Mars June 8-9. Tensions in relationships. Attempting to satisfy romantic needs and assertive/sexual needs simultaneously can be challenging.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Saturday, May 25th, from 8:51 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Pisces the next day, Sunday, May 26th, at 2:07 AM EDT.
VOC Moon on Tuesday, May 28th from 12:20 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Pluto), until the Moon enters Aries at 2:32 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Thursday, May 30th, from 11:08 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Pluto), until the Moon enters Taurus the next day, Friday, May 31st, at 12:43 AM EDT.
VOC Moon on Saturday, June 1st, from 6:53 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Pluto), until the Moon enters Gemini the next day, Sunday, June 2nd, at 7:48 AM EDT.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Sun sesquiquadrate Saturn. It’s hard to satisfy the ego today. We feel blocked by circumstances or others. It’s too easy to feel discouraged, but discouragement is a time waster. Gratitude isn’t forthcoming right now, so it’s best to wait it out rather than waste energy letting it get to you.
Sun sextile Chiron. An opportunity to find a sense of purpose or a “mission” arises now, increasing our confidence. The desire to learn and grow through experiences and through others is strong. Problem solving is favored.
Sun sesquiquadrate Pluto. A tendency to want to control our lives through some form of manipulation is strong during this influence. Meeting with obstacles in our paths, however, can force us into the position of using all of our resources to fight back, and we can discover resources we never knew we had in the process.
Mercury square Neptune. We find it hard to follow facts, directions, and instructions. Difficulties concentrating on hard, cold facts are likely; and we may question facts altogether or avoid being pinned down for answers. This is a bad time for signing on the dotted line. Perceptions are confused, unrealistic, or too idealistic to carry weight in the real world. Conversations may be vague.
Mercury semi-square Uranus. We can have flashes of insight, but tend to be scatterbrained. Our ideas and communications may not be well-received because they don’t seem to others to carry weight. Our minds are not peaceful or harmonious under this influence, and irritable tempers, sarcastic speech, and dogmatism are negative expressions of this energy.
Mercury quincunx Saturn. Communication challenges today make it hard to get a point across. Delays, “red tape”, and vague feelings of forgetting important details.
Venus sextile Neptune. We are more imaginative and attuned to the world of beauty and romance today. Gentleness with others is the best way to harness this energy. A “magical” time on a romantic and social level is possible now.
Mercury opposition Jupiter. In an attempt to attach greater meaning to our thoughts and ideas, we may exaggerate, overstate, or overestimate. We strive to find both meaning and purpose to our lives. However, it is all too easy to miss or neglect important details. Our ideas and plans may be too grandiose just now. Lack of clear mental focus, but we may make measurable progress if we can focus.
Venus trine Saturn. Affections stabilize and mature. Affections stabilize and mature. Maturity with others allows us to take the bad with the good, and finds us seeing our relationships realistically. Small advances can be made in business and in partnerships through strengthening and bonding. Support from older people or authority figures may come by way of solid advice or more tangible help. Renewed ties to old friends are possible, or a new sense of responsibility can be felt in existing friendships. Business sense is good.
Venus semi-square Chiron. Blocks to intimacy are possible now as we focus on differences rather than similarities in our relationships with others. We might have a hard time learning from one another as a result.
Mercury quincunx Pluto. Something we write or say could trigger power struggles or hostility from others. We may be plagued with self-doubt in our attempts to make decisions. Decisions made now are unlikely to be objective. Re-assessing decisions we have made already, or adjusting our plans, may be in order. Second-guessing.
Venus quincunx Jupiter. A strong desire for the pleasures of life is emphasized now, although our eyes are perhaps bigger than our stomachs. Challenges in relationships now are likely due to overblown expectations. It can be challenging to find a balance between responsibilities and the desire for self-gratification.

MAY 26
The Moon enters Pisces early today, ending its transit of Aquarius at 2:07 AM EDT. This morning’s Sun-Saturn sesquiquadrate can point to feelings of blockage or restriction. The Sun’s sextile to Chiron midday, however, can help produce an opportunity to find a sense of purpose or a “mission,” increasing our confidence, possibly through our families, business, or projects. The desire to learn and grow through experiences and people in our lives is healthy. Problem-solving is favored. We can feel a little stronger and more empowered. Also today, the Last Quarter Moon occurs when the Sun in Gemini forms a square to the Moon in Pisces. The Last Quarter Moon phase points to a possible crisis of consciousness. After basking in the awareness symbolized by the full light of the Moon at the time of last week’s Full Moon, we disperse our knowledge. We begin to see what works for us–and what doesn’t–in preparation for next week’s New Moon when something new is born again. This is not the best time to start a significant project, as the decreasing light of the Moon symbolizes descent into unconsciousness. It’s time to begin finishing up the details of whatever we conceived at the last New Moon.
The Moon ends its void period when it enters Pisces at 2:07 AM EDT.
MAY 27
The Moon spends the day in the sign of Pisces. The Pisces Moon is compassionate, sensitive, giving, and perceptive at its best and noncommittal or avoidant when challenged. With its alignment to Neptune and harmony with Venus, we’re inclined to see spiritual dimensions of our relationships, and we tend to approach others with more compassion than usual. This is a strong time to forgive and release, particularly with a creative aspect between Venus and Jupiter also influencing the day. It can feel especially good to put our faith in someone or something now.
MAY 28
The Moon continues its transit of sensitive, impressionable Pisces until 2:32 PM EDT, after which it moves through the first sign of the zodiac, Aries. The Aries Moon can feel like a fresh start on an emotional level. With a Neptune-Juno-North Node connection today, it’s an excellent time for connecting with others on a soul or spiritual level, as well as for understanding one another and giving others the benefit of the doubt. We can feel empowered by our charitable qualities today. A Mercury-Mars parallel lends spontaneous, forthright, and energetic elements to our communications and can stimulate lively thoughts and interactions.
The Moon is void from 12:20 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Pluto), until the Moon enters Aries at 2:32 PM EDT.
MAY 29
The Sun’s sesquiquadrate with Pluto this morning can stimulate or aggravate fears and any feelings we may have of being powerless or overlooked. Buried emotions and motives can surface now. A tendency to want to control our lives through some form of manipulation is persistent with this aspect. As the day advances, we’re inclined to loosen up, but we should watch for speculative and impractical ventures. We may be without clear instructions or details, or we could find it challenging to follow or clearly communicate facts. Perceptions can be strongly influenced by wishful thinking and imagination. Our minds open to many different possibilities and options, however. The Moon spends the day in Aries, and with its clash with Mars this morning, it can be all too easy for frustrations or impatience to interfere with our desire to take the initiative. We can feel tested by circumstances.
MAY 30
Mercury opposes Jupiter and forms minor challenging aspects to Uranus and Saturn today. There can be a lot of excitement and enthusiasm about our ideas and anxiousness to share them, but also some sensitivity to how they’re received. We need room to explore and create, to visualize new solutions to problems, and to express ourselves freely. However, we are inclined to exaggerate or to miss the bigger point. We might overstate or overestimate. Mental anxiety could manifest as we can swing from blind faith to doubt, making it difficult to make good, practical choices. We’re stretching our minds now, and this is an excellent mental exercise, but we should avoid making commitments until we’re more realistic and confident. We should also watch for scattering our energies or taking on too many activities. As well today, a Venus-Neptune sextile inclines us to tune into the worlds of beauty and romance and to see spiritual dimensions of our relationships or to approach others with increased compassion. With Venus approaching a trine to Saturn, we may have the tools to lock today’s good ideas down tomorrow. The Moon spends the day in pioneering but sometimes impatient Aries.
The Moon is void from 11:08 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Pluto), until the Moon enters Taurus the next day, Friday, May 31st, at 12:43 AM EDT.
MAY 31
Today’s trine between Venus and Saturn is excellent for sorting out our feelings. We’re approaching love, relationships, money, or pleasure-seeking in a more mature, responsible, and level-headed way. This is an excellent time for stabilizing relations, as well as for showing our affection through practical support, service, and shows of loyalty. This influence reminds us of the value of constancy and reliability. Business sense is excellent, although we can be risk-averse now. This can also be a time when we’re enjoying our responsibilities, work, or duties more than usual. Later today, Venus forms a semi-square to Chiron and then heads toward a quincunx to Jupiter, and Mercury forms a quincunx to Pluto. There can be some blocks to intimacy as we focus on differences rather than similarities in our relationships. However, with our vulnerabilities triggered and revealed, we are in a better position to see what needs our attention, which is one step towards healing. A Mercury-Pluto quincunx points to a recurring problem or predicament emerging, and it can be challenging to arrive at a definite conclusion without feeling like we’re missing out elsewhere, or we may find it difficult integrating, digesting, or accepting certain news or information.
The Moon ends its void period when it enters Taurus at 12:43 AM EDT.
JUNE 1
With a quincunx between Venus and Jupiter this morning, we can feel restless and desirous of more, but we may not be in touch with what we want. Alternatively, we can be frustrated by a predicament or either/or situation. On the one hand, we’re enjoying familiarity, comfort, and steadiness, while another part of us is seeking experience or new horizons to explore. Challenges in relationships today are likely due to overblown expectations. The Moon is in Taurus all day, which can sway the decision toward comfort and the safe road, particularly as it aligns with Venus, helping to soften rough edges. We aim to please and harmonize under this influence.
The Moon is void from 6:53 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Pluto), until the Moon enters Gemini tomorrow, Sunday, June 2nd, at 7:48 AM EDT.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Aquarius
Attraction to all that is new and unusual, and an instinctive need for improvement, characterize the Moon in Aquarius. Reactions are more intellectual than emotional, and interactions are more impersonal than personal, under this influence. This is a time that promotes social gatherings, dealing with group ideals and goals for the future, brainstorming, new ideas, and progressive changes. We are open to new methods of doing things and we have our eye on the future. It can be hard to stick to schedules now, as personal freedom is most important to us.
The Moon in Aquarius generally favors the following activities: Unusual or radical undertakings, social pursuits, group projects, trying something new, joining a group.
When the Moon is in Pisces
We may not want to face reality while the Moon is in dreamy, impressionable Pisces. It can be a wistful, sensitive, intuitive, and compassionate time. We are especially imaginative, and our intuition reigns under this influence. Boundaries and walls come down, as Pisces energy merges and blends. It's a time when details are overlooked and feelings defy description.
The Moon in Pisces generally favors the following activities: Imaginative undertakings, mystical or spiritual pursuits, inner development, music and drama, going on a retreat, activities involving water.
When the Moon is in Aries
We're motivated by a strong desire to start fresh. A gut instinct to begin something new is with us now, as well as the gumption to do so. Our pioneering impulses are strong, and we feel energetic, spontaneous, and enthusiastic. We may also be tactless and impulsive now. Excess energy is best channeled into physical activity.
People can be more self-motivated and also self-focused while the Moon is in Aries. It's a competitive rather than cooperative time. Accidents and tempers flaring are more likely than usual. This period is one of more personal courage.
The Moon in Aries generally favors the following activities: Quick actions that yield immediate results. Undertakings that involve the self and the personality. (Staying power may be lacking). Self-assertion, taking on challenges, beginning short-term projects.
When the Moon is in Taurus
We are motivated by the desire for serenity, security, peace, and comfort. The Moon is at her most sensual and constant in Taurus. Our basic impulses are to relax, resist change, and "stop to smell the roses." Life slows down a little, and we get comfortable. We may also be inclined to stubbornness and materialism under this influence.
While the Moon is in Taurus, people can be emotionally constant but inflexible. It's a time of stronger focus on personal needs and comfort levels, and a period of more common sense and attention to practical matters.
The Moon in Taurus generally favors the following activities: Substantial and material actions that yield solid results. Financial activities, and those involving personal possessions, applying for a loan, beginning a potentially long-term relationship, music, home decor.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Gemini The cycle which begins for you now will be marked by a more intense focus on mental and communicative activity than you may ever have experienced before. It’s a time of more involvement with other people, a time for gathering information, and a time when you’re apt to be more on the go than ever. There is likely to be an emphasis on reading, writing, studying, and all forms of exchanging information with others in the years ahead – and it will all serve as a path for self-discovery and personal development.
Mercury in Gemini A walking encyclopedia, a yen to know a little bit about everything (and everyone): these are the icons of the cycle you have just begun. Talking, writing, keeping a finger on the pulse of all that’s happening … this is a time of study and learning, a cycle of mental challenge, curiosity, and social/intellectual growth. Such things are an end in themselves rather than a means to any other end.
Mars in Cancer Defensive, aren’t we? With this new cycle getting underway, protecting and preserving you and yours takes on a higher than usual priority. A sensitivity to the needs and wants of others and an appreciation for their frailties (as well as your own) makes you more cautious and conservative … you pick your battles with care.
Jupiter in Sagittarius Faith, optimism, and a yearning to explore all kinds of new horizons: these are some of the focal points in your life at this time. Travel, education, and other ways to stretch your horizons open new doors of opportunity. Religious, philosophical, and cultural matters are likely to have special appeal for you now; transmitting ideas on a broader scale brings gain.
Saturn in Capricorn Responsibility, hard work, ambition, and achievement: these are the foundations you need to build on now, as a new cycle dawns in your life. And yet, there is a tendency to be a little too hard, perhaps a bit cold, in your approach to these things. Let ambition take you to the top, but don’t let it lull you into thinking that the end justifies the means.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone and everyone in their place…
