Daily Trends
THE NEW MOON occurs on Tuesday, March 6, 2019, at 11:04 AM EST.
Wednesday morning, the New Moon in Pisces occurs at 11:04 AM EST, and marks the beginning of a new cycle. The Aquarius New Moon cycle ends and the Pisces New Moon cycle begins. The New Moon in Pisces is a good time to commit to personal goals that express the positive energies of the sign of the Fish. These include taking a leap of faith, accepting imperfections in ourselves and in others as a different kind of “perfection,” starting a project that requires imagination and visualization skills, consciously putting time aside for peaceful and rejuvenating activities, and sharing a dream with another. With this potent Pisces energy, we have the chance to make important changes in our lives.
This New Moon is especially creative and imaginative with its conjunction to Neptune, square to Jupiter, and sextile to Mars. We are likely to feel very inspired, and this New Moon can motivate us to take a leap of faith, but we also check in with reality with Saturn’s sextile to the lunation. It also occurs shortly after Mercury stationed and turned retrograde and Uranus entered Taurus, and some instability or lack of clear judgment is likely now.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 15 degrees and 47 minutes of Pisces, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 12 to 20 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) most significantly.

This week: The Sun is in Pisces; Mercury is in Pisces; Venus is in Aquarius; Mars is in Taurus.
The Sun is in Pisces from February 18-March 20. With the Sun in Pisces, we are guided by altruistic feelings. We are less motivated to do than we are to feel, imagine, and dream. A “what will be, will be” attitude reigns, and we are guided by a sense of universal correlations. Pisces rules empathy, selfless love, devotion, and wisdom. Its shadow side rules self-pity, a feeling of being victimized by life, passivity, and elusiveness.
Mercury is in Pisces from February 10-April 17. When Mercury is in Pisces, our thinking processes are more visual, intuitive, and imaginative. We are especially attuned to the world of emotion, which colors both our thoughts and our communication style. We guess well, express ourselves with imagery, and make decisions intuitively. We are more attracted to consciousness-raising information.
Venus is in Aquarius from March 1-26. We move towards unconventionality, independence, and freedom as themes in our social relationships under this influence. Aquarius can be just as faithful as Capricorn, but it has to be on his own terms! Experimental relationships are more intriguing now. Being friends as well as lovers is important to us during this cycle. Allowing one another freedom of expression, and treating others fairly, unselfishly, and impartially, are themes now.
Mars is in Taurus from February 14-March 31. We are determined, stubborn, and resolute. Mars in Taurus can be passive, and is at its strongest when resisting or defending something! In stark contrast to the impulsive Mars in Aries cycle, we tend to pursue our goals by plodding along patiently. Our goals are longevity and long-term satisfaction.
Saturn transits Capricorn from December 19/20, 2017, to March 21, 2020; and then finishes up its transit from July 1 to December 17, 2020. Read about Saturn’s transit through Capricorn here.
Jupiter entered Sagittarius on November 8th, 2018, and transits the sign until December 2nd, 2019. Read more about the Jupiter in Sagittarius transit.
Uranus re-enters Taurus on March 6th, 2019. Uranus first transited Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and is now consistently in the sign until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle. There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Uranus entered Aries on March 11th, 2011, and continued its transit of Aries until May 15, 2018, and then from November 6, 2018, to March 6, 2019. The urge to start fresh, to break free from restrictive attitudes or circumstances, to totally redesign an area of our lives (or even our personalities), and to gain freedom through independence is strong with Uranus in Aries.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Aquarius from March 2-26, 2019. While Venus was in Capricorn, we valued enduring connections, reliability, and faithfulness. We took expressing our feelings seriously, and we also took our sweet time warming up to others! Generally, we kept our “cool” in relationships. With Venus now in Aquarius, we still keep our “cool” in relationships, but in a detached and impersonal sort of way. Unconventional set-ups become more appealing. Bringing the spirit of friendship into romantic relationships is a positive use of Venus in Aquarius energy. Relationships that fairly scream “alternative” appeal to us now. It’s all about being open-minded and somewhat detached with Aquarius energy dominating the love arena. With Venus in Aquarius, it’s best to go into dates with new people casually, with no expectations and no strings. Melodrama and emotionalism simply won’t work. We may also find ourselves attracted to, or attracting, people who are not our “type.”
This week: On Thursday, a minor challenging aspect between Venus and Jupiter can point to some restlessness. We have a tendency to want more than what we have, and this might lead to some exaggeration or promises. Questions are raised about our feelings or ultimatums made on Saturday as Venus and Mars form a contra-parallel. Passions run high now.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Capricorn February 3-March 1. Marry for money and then learn to love ’em: that’s what your heart tells you now, as a new cycle gets underway in your life. Does that sound cynical? Maybe so – but it does reflect the yearning you feel for security and stability now, and it suggests the kind of compromises you may be willing to make to accomplish these objectives.
Venus in Aquarius March 1-26. love for the unusual, a distaste for stodgy old rules and conventions, a feeling that you’re above the petty bourgeois stuff and nonsense: that’s what a new cycle brings into your life now. (“I love humanity; it’s people I can’t stand!”) Unconventional romantic and social connections are likely at a time like this.
Venus square Uranus February 28-March 1. We might have to deal with issues of freedom versus intimacy during this period. Peculiar or impulsive attractions are exciting but unlikely to last very long. Treat them as passing fancies, and enjoy them while they last–but try to hold off on making any big decisions with regards to love today.
Venus sextile Chiron March 1-2. Love has the power to heal old wounds. We are open to romantic feelings and more willing to act upon them.
Venus semi-square Neptune March 1-2. Romantic confusion as well as relationship ups and downs. Self-deceptions may come to light now.
Venus semi-square Jupiter March 7. We experience a strong desire for more pleasure in our lives, which can be excessive. Take care not to overstate your feelings or to set up unrealistic expectations in your partnerships.
Venus contra-parallel Mars March 9-10. Passions are stimulated and intense. A fine line between love and hate. Competitiveness. Questions are raised or ultimatums made.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Tuesday, March 5th, from 3:06 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Uranus), until the Moon enters Pisces at 3:12 AM EST. Very brief!
VOC Moon on Thursday, March 7th, from 2:09 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Mercury), until the Moon enters Aries at 3:28 PM EST.
VOC Moon on Saturday, March 9th, from 12:15 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Taurus the next day, Sunday, March 10th, at 3:11 AM EDT.
March 2019:
Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
This week, the Moon is waning this week until the New Moon on the 6th – a period that is generally considered unfavorable for new beginnings with exceptions. The Moon is waxing after the New Moon on the 6th, which is generally considered favorable for new beginnings, but again with exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details).
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs this week from approximately 3:00 PM EST on Sunday, March 3rd, to approximately 3:00 AM EST on Tuesday, March 5th, while the Moon is in Aquarius. Keep in mind that Mercury turns retrograde on the 5th, and it’s this stationary retrograde period that can be challenging for new beginnings. Another window occurs on March 7th from approximately 1:40 AM to 2:05 PM EST while the Moon is in Pisces. Caveats: This is probably too soon after the New Moon for major new beginnings. As well, Mercury is retrograde during this window.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Sun semi-square Uranus. During this transit, we feel the need for action, but if we don’t know where we’re headed, we might take the wrong turn. Unexpected changes in plans or events can test our patience, and we might feel a bit out of control. However, they could stimulate us to try new approaches and they certainly act to cut boredom. This transit could offer us the drive to do something new, but avoid making hasty major decisions for the time being.
Sun conjunct Neptune. We are extremely sensitive to the moods and undercurrents around us. We make judgments intuitively and instinctually. We may have a hard time defining our actions and our goals, perhaps losing sight of reality and reason. Flexible morals. Increased spiritual awareness, imagination, and inspiration.
Mercury semi-square Mars. We are quick-witted and ready to argue under this influence. We may be working under stressful or hectic conditions, as we feel pressure to get things done quickly. We are inclined to be snappy and irritable, and we may too easily interrupt others rather than listen. Conflicts of interest are likely.
Venus semi-square Jupiter. We might take great strides to get noticed. Avoid impulsive buying. Problems in our personal life likely won’t get resolved under this influence. Avoid hasty (or haughty!) decisions. We might overstate our feelings or promise more than we can deliver, and the tendency to overdo is strong.
Sun sextile Saturn. We feel grounded and stable. It’s easy to stick to a specific task and make headway. Productivity may be slow, but it’s steady. We are taking into account practical considerations and we are especially aware of the element of time. We are more able to discipline ourselves and put our egos aside in order to get the job done.

MARCH 3
The Moon is in break-the-rules Aquarius all day. There can be some disdain for routine now, or circumstances are such that our lives are too chaotic or scattered to be able to focus on our goals. While the Aquarius Moon tends to bring somewhat impersonal energy to our lives, a Moon-Mars square awakens our passions and brings some emotional drama into our lives. Impulsive feelings are likely now. We tend to act out, take unnecessary risks, or seek extra stimulation. With the Aquarius Moon, we’re attracted to the unusual, extraordinary, and unconventional. Independence, equality, and freedom are vital to feeling emotionally satisfied.
MARCH 4
The Moon spends another day in humanitarian, detached, brilliant Aquarius, harmonizing with Jupiter in Sagittarius. We’re especially idealistic, independent, and socially aware under these influences. As well today, we’re inclined to seek out meaning or a higher purpose regarding the work we do, and we’re successful at bringing more imagination and creativity to our work and efforts. This is a time of dedication, particularly on spiritual levels. We might volunteer our services, or willingly support and make sacrifices for loved ones at this time. Alternatively, there may be a disappointment regarding a commitment now, prompting the need to adjust our goals and start anew.
MARCH 5
The Moon ends its transit of Aquarius at 3:12 AM EST when it enters Pisces. The Moon is Balsamic, with a New Moon set to occur tomorrow. Mercury stations and turns retrograde in the sign of Pisces today and will be retrograde until the 28th, and we might get our wires crossed today. Communication can be tricky, and it can be hard to focus on cold, hard facts as the shift occurs now. During the cycle itself, we grow more accustomed to the retrograde, and our thinking is turned inward as we review and reassess matters. There can be the need to do things a little differently, especially related to communicating, negotiating, buying and selling, listening, formal contracts, documents, travel, the mail, and shipping. It’s a time when being careless with money, our personal information, or paperwork can be costly, but it can also be a time for seeing some details we missed in recent days– we see matters from a new perspective. This period is best used for reorganizing and reflecting. We look at the world through different filters and can experience important revelations. Mercury retrograde periods can be times of heightened inner awareness, when meditation, journal-keeping, reworking old plans, and reviewing past work are favored. Minor breaks in the mechanical aspects of communication can reconnect us with other, possibly more meaningful means of communication. As well today, the Sun forms a semi-square to Uranus, shortly before Uranus changes signs. We may want to shake things up, make changes, and break the routine now. However, we could also be tense if we’re faced with unexpected schedule changes or if we are not in touch with what it is we need to change. It’s better to keep things simple and avoid all-new endeavors today and tomorrow.
The Moon is void from 3:06 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Uranus), until the Moon enters Pisces at 3:12 AM EST. Very brief!
MARCH 6
New Moon occurs today in the sign of Pisces, and we are inspired to take a leap of faith. We’re motivated to carve out time for peaceful and rejuvenating activities or to entertain a dream and perhaps share it with someone special. With this potent Pisces energy, we have the chance to make important changes in our lives. This New Moon is extraordinarily creative and imaginative with its conjunction to Neptune, square to Jupiter, and sextile to Mars. We are likely to feel very inspired, but we also check in with reality with Saturn’s sextile to the lunation. Because Mercury just stationed and turned retrograde yesterday, and Uranus changes signs today, there can be some instability or lack of clear judgment with these shifts. It helps that this lunation occurs at the midpoint of Mars and Saturn. Although we may also feel a little stuck, this configuration can help ground us and may give us a sense that we can turn our dreams into reality. Also today, Uranus enters Taurus. It first entered the sign on May 15th, 2018, and spent less than six months in Taurus before retreating into Aries on November 6th. Now with Uranus in Taurus until 2025-2026, there can be changes to how we enjoy ourselves, what we own, and how we arrange our things. We may be approaching money and personal possessions in a new, exciting way. We’re more financially savvy and progressive in business and practical matters. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable are likely to emerge during this long-term cycle. There may be less inhibition about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. Feminist movements grow and metamorphose. Our values may lean more towards the unconventional, or we’re challenging what we previously valued. Potential problems can include seeking freedom and independence by focusing on materialistic pursuits which can be distracting and reactive when it would be more desirable to detach ourselves from some of our attachments to things and seek freedom through so doing. Also today, the Sun’s annual alignment with Neptune occurs, and we’re extremely sensitive to the moods and undercurrents around us. We make judgments intuitively and instinctually. We may have a hard time defining our actions and our goals, and instead, we seek out other ways of connecting with our dreams. Our morals may be flexible now, as we tend to stretch our usual boundaries. This transit stimulates and enhances spiritual awareness.
MARCH 7
Mercury semi-squares Mars today, and we can be a little on edge, snappy, and perhaps argumentative. We may be working under stressful or hectic conditions, as we feel pressure to get things done quickly. Conflicts of interest are possible now. We can also feel wired in a good way, itching to take action, but not necessarily having the right tools to begin. With Venus semi-square Jupiter tonight, there can be some positive and upbeat energy, although we can go to excess. Restlessness is stirred and might be quenched with a variation of the routine or schedule. It’s not a good day for starting something new, as we might lose interest in it later on, or circumstances are such that we can’t pursue it. As well, it may be too early after the New Moon to know what we want. The Moon continues to transit the sign of Pisces until 3:28 PM EST, at which time the Moon enters Aries, and we’re looking for a fresh start on an emotional level. It feels more straightforward to take action now.
The Moon is void from 2:09 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Mercury), until the Moon enters Aries at 3:28 PM EST.
MARCH 8
The Moon spends the day in the sign of Aries, and we want to move ahead, come in first place, innovate, and initiate. While this can be impulsive energy, we benefit from a Sun-Saturn sextile, exact early into the day tomorrow but in strong influence today. This transit helps ground us, or at the least, gives us a sense of rhythm and helps us pace ourselves. We are more able to discipline ourselves and put our egos aside to get the job done. This influence has the most beautiful potential to teach us that humbling ourselves to accept constructive criticism and advice — or to recognize areas that need strengthening — can be beneficial. It supports disciplining ourselves to bring more purpose and practicality to our lives. This is a time for self-awareness that leads to realistic plans and goals. We prefer and benefit from conservative, safe moves now.
MARCH 9
A long-term influence is exact today: Saturn’s parallel to Pluto, and will perfect again in July and November. This is not to be confused with the Saturn-Pluto conjunction that will occur in January 2020, although its influence is similar. Today’s parallel prompts a strong need for reorganization and discipline. It demands hard work at remodeling and renovating our careers and goals or a particular area of our lives. In this area, we can experience the need to rebuild as well as intense ambition, great dedication, commitment, or perhaps obsession. We can feel driven to achieve and accomplish something. We should watch for abuse of power or living on fear, although moderate levels of fear/concern can be useful to motivate us to make improvements and to strengthen certain vulnerable areas of our lives. With the Aries Moon square Saturn and Pluto today, we can feel a bit tense as we recognize the need for self-discipline but crave more independence. A Mars-Neptune sextile is building, however, and can help us decompress.
The Moon is void from 12:15 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Taurus the next day, Sunday, March 10th, at 3:11 AM EST.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Aquarius
Attraction to all that is new and unusual, and an instinctive need for improvement, characterize the Moon in Aquarius. Reactions are more intellectual than emotional, and interactions are more impersonal than personal, under this influence. This is a time that promotes social gatherings, dealing with group ideals and goals for the future, brainstorming, new ideas, and progressive changes. We are open to new methods of doing things and we have our eye on the future. It can be hard to stick to schedules now, as personal freedom is most important to us.
The Moon in Aquarius generally favors the following activities: Unusual or radical undertakings, social pursuits, group projects, trying something new, joining a group.
When the Moon is in Pisces
We may not want to face reality while the Moon is in dreamy, impressionable Pisces. It can be a wistful, sensitive, intuitive, and compassionate time. We are especially imaginative, and our intuition reigns under this influence. Boundaries and walls come down, as Pisces energy merges and blends. It's a time when details are overlooked and feelings defy description.
The Moon in Pisces generally favors the following activities: Imaginative undertakings, mystical or spiritual pursuits, inner development, music and drama, going on a retreat, activities involving water.
When the Moon is in Aries
We're motivated by a strong desire to start fresh. A gut instinct to begin something new is with us now, as well as the gumption to do so. Our pioneering impulses are strong, and we feel energetic, spontaneous, and enthusiastic. We may also be tactless and impulsive now. Excess energy is best channeled into physical activity.
People can be more self-motivated and also self-focused while the Moon is in Aries. It's a competitive rather than cooperative time. Accidents and tempers flaring are more likely than usual. This period is one of more personal courage.
The Moon in Aries generally favors the following activities: Quick actions that yield immediate results. Undertakings that involve the self and the personality. (Staying power may be lacking). Self-assertion, taking on challenges, beginning short-term projects.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Pisces The mystic, the martyr, the sinner, and the saint: these archetypes take on greater importance in your life at a time like this. Forgiveness, compassion, and understanding come naturally, when you look at life from an eternal perspective – and if anyone ever does know such things, you’ll probably come to understand them as this cycle unfolds. This can be a phase of sublime spiritual development, to be sure. But you should be aware of tendencies to believe too quickly, too deeply, or to become dependent on things or people that seem to offer quick and easy answers to life’s deepest yearnings.
Mercury in Pisces Knowing things without knowing how you know them is typical at a time like this. The mystical, the universal, the eternal: these are the things that stir your curiosity. Call it psychic, call it deja vu … it can be there when you call on it, whatever you call it. (Remembering the little things might become more difficult, however: it’s tough to remember if you paid the electric bill when you’re more interested in the eternal verities.)
Venus in Aquarius A love for the unusual, a distaste for stodgy old rules and conventions, a feeling that you’re above the petty bourgeois stuff and nonsense: that’s what a new cycle brings into your life now. (“I love humanity; it’s people I can’t stand!”) Unconventional romantic and social connections are likely at a time like this.
Mars in Taurus Making the most of what you’ve got, striving for security and stability: that’s the impulse that stirs in you as a new cycle begins in your life. New frontiers? That’s kid’s stuff for you now! What you want is to build something that will last: a pyramid, a Great Wall – you know, that sort of thing. Steady, patient, solid: that’s your style now.
Jupiter in Sagittarius Faith, optimism, and a yearning to explore all kinds of new horizons: these are some of the focal points in your life at this time. Travel, education, and other ways to stretch your horizons open new doors of opportunity. Religious, philosophical, and cultural matters are likely to have special appeal for you now; transmitting ideas on a broader scale brings gain.
Saturn in Capricorn Responsibility, hard work, ambition, and achievement: these are the foundations you need to build on now, as a new cycle dawns in your life. And yet, there is a tendency to be a little too hard, perhaps a bit cold, in your approach to these things. Let ambition take you to the top, but don’t let it lull you into thinking that the end justifies the means.
Uranus in Aries A clean break with the past in some respects is signaled by the cycle you have just begun. What YOU need, YOUR freedom and independence, shattering old molds: these are the things that energize you and take priority in your life. Uniqueness and originality set you apart.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone and everyone in their place…
