The New MOON occurs on Monday, June 3rd, 2019, at 6:03 AM EDT.
On Monday morning, a new cycle begins with a New Moon. The New Moon in Gemini cycle presents opportunities to commit to personal goals that express the positive energies of the sign of the Twins. It’s time to improve our communication skills by listening to others and enjoying others’ points of view, rather than doggedly seeking to find that one elusive “answer.” This is a good cycle under which to re-evaluate our communication and social skills by questioning just how much we actually take in information and communicate in a friendly, non-threatening manner. With this potent Gemini energy, we have the chance to make important changes in our lives.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 12 degrees and 34 minutes of Gemini, affecting people born with personal planets and points from approximately 9 to 17 degrees of the Mutable signs the most (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces).

(Times are Eastern)
This week: The Sun is in Gemini; Mercury is in Gemini until the 4th, after which Mercury is in Cancer; Venus is in Taurus until the 8th, after which Venus is in Gemini; Mars is in Cancer.
The Sun is in Gemini from May 21-June 21. Knowledge and diversity motivate us with the Sun in Gemini. We are more sociable, intellectual, and insatiably curious under this influence. We tend to scatter our energies as a result of this curiosity and awareness of all of our options. We are more communicative and versatile, but we can also be unreliable.
Mercury is in Gemini from May 21-June 4. When Mercury is in Gemini, we are especially communicative, curious, and sociable. Mercury feels right at home in Gemini, one of the signs that it rules. We tend to take more pleasure in gaining a superficial knowledge of many subjects rather than dig deep into any one topic. We are especially astute when it comes to arguing or making a point. We are attracted to wordplays, puns, and negotiations. We are easily distracted.
Mercury is in Cancer from June 4-26 and then July 19-August 11. When Mercury is in Cancer, we move from the desire for quantity to the need for quality in terms of the information we are attracted to. We think, speak, and take in information on a deeper, more instinctive level now. We have less interest in what is universal, and more interest in what affects us personally and what affects the people around us. Our thoughts are colored by our emotions, so it is more challenging to be objective.
Venus is in Taurus from May 15-June 8. In Taurus, Venus is very sensual (naturally), content, and possessive. We seek security and value what lasts. Our appetite for pleasure is strong. Taurus values the here and the now as well as the world of the five senses. Tangible and physical expressions of love and romance are most important now. Holding on to someone we love is our tendency under Venus in Taurus. The shadow side of this is excessive possessiveness and treating our partners as objects that we own or want to own. On the financial side, Venus in Taurus looks for high-quality, solid, practical, and long-lasting items. Holding on to our possessions is more likely now.
Venus is in Gemini from June 8-July 3. With Venus in Gemini, we have a finger in every pie. Curiosity motivates us on romantic and social levels. “Variety is the spice of life” is the attitude now. We are sociable, communicative, and interested. We can be animated and fun but may also keep our distance on an emotional level. Attractions now may begin with words, as we tend to bond more readily on a mental level with Venus in Gemini. The shadow side of Gemini is fickleness.
Mars is in Cancer from May 15-July 1. We pursue our interests ardently, but we avoid a direct approach to going after we want. As well, our goals and plans are subject to mood swings and vacillations. We are defensive rather than overtly aggressive. Much of what we do depends on our mood of the moment.
Saturn transits Capricorn from December 19/20, 2017, to March 21, 2020; and then finishes up its transit from July 1 to December 17, 2020. Read about Saturn’s transit through Capricorn here.
Jupiter entered Sagittarius on November 8th, 2018, and transits the sign until December 2nd, 2019. Read more about the Jupiter in Sagittarius transit.
Uranus is in Taurus. Uranus first transited Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and is now consistently in the sign (since March 6th, 2019) until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle. There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Taurus from May 15 to June 8, 2019. In Taurus, Venus is usually quite content but can be possessive. We seek security and value those things that last.
Venus is in Gemini from June 8 to July 3, 2019. In Gemini, Venus is communicative, sociable but emotionally aloof, insatiably curious, and a little bit flighty. Inconsistency with our affections is a strong possibility, but the desire for a meeting of minds is strong and the urge to socialize dominates. Some detachment from our emotions is likely, which may be a breath of fresh air for some. The lines of communication open, although we may only scratch the surface of things. Under this influence, love is playful and lighthearted. Fickleness is the shadow side of Venus in Gemini.
This week: A beautiful aspect between Venus and Pluto occurs on Sunday, and we might awaken to powerful feelings. There can be important realizations about our love life, as we’re looking at things in a new way. We are also inclined to throw ourselves passionately into what we care about, and this can be a cause, project, or a person. A bond may strengthen or deepen now, and we’re more likely to embrace our feelings than to push them aside now. Watch for impulsiveness and impatience on Saturday. Someone may be pushy or crude when we crave something more refined or subtle, or someone is being subtle when we crave a more straightforward approach.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Taurus A love of music, an appreciation for sensual pleasures and others of the finer things in life – such are the signs of the cycle which has begun for you. This is aesthetic and artistic to be sure, but it is also practical and materialistic: you develop a keen appreciation for the value of things, including the money it takes to buy them.
Venus in Gemini June 8-July 3. Saying (or writing) it with style comes naturally now. A yen for variety is a hallmark of this phase, and this especially applies to romantic experience and artistic tastes. (The latter tends to focus on literature in general and poetry in particular.) A sociable, congenial, slightly frivolous orientation sets in.
Venus quincunx Jupiter May 31-June 1. A strong desire for the pleasures of life is with us now, although our eyes are bigger than our stomachs. Troubles in relationships now are likely due to overblown expectations. It can be challenging to find a balance between responsibilities and the desire for self-gratification.
Venus trine Pluto June 2. Powerful and uplifting time for romantic/sexual relationships. New insights into relationships and love. Strong attractions. Relationships are intense and deep, but not draining.
Venus semi-square Mars June 8-9. Tensions in relationships. Attempting to satisfy romantic needs and assertive/sexual needs simultaneously can be challenging.
Venus sesquiquadrate Saturn June 11-12. Feelings of isolation, of not getting what we really want, and of not being loved the way we want to be loved can get in the way of pleasant relations with our partners.
Venus sextile Chiron June 12-13. Love has the power to heal old wounds. We are open to romantic feelings and more willing to act upon them.
Venus sesquiquadrate Pluto June 14-15. Tendencies to look for something wrong in a relationship. Jealousy raises its ugly head.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Saturday, June 1st, from 6:53 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Pluto), until the Moon enters Gemini the next day, Sunday, June 2nd, at 7:48 AM EDT.
VOC Moon on Tuesday, June 4th from 11:43 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Mercury), until the Moon enters Cancer at 12:18 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Thursday, June 6th, from 10:11 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Venus), until the Moon enters Leo at 3:17 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Saturday, June 8th, from 5:24 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Venus), until the Moon enters Virgo at 5:46 PM EDT.
June 2019:
Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
This week, the Moon is waning until the New Moon on the 3rd– a period that is generally considered unfavorable for new beginnings with exceptions. After the New Moon on the 3rd, the Moon is waxing, which is generally considered favorable for new beginnings, again with exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details).
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs this week on Monday, June 3rd, from approximately 8:40 PM to Tuesday, June 4th, at approximately 11:40 AM EDT, while the Moon is in Gemini. Note that it’s still quite close to the New Moon, and some new beginnings may be premature.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Venus trine Pluto. An excellent time for finances and for relationships, all things equal. Our feelings are intense and impassioned, but not in an offensive or destructive way. The need to share on deeper levels is strong now. A spiritual regeneration through love is possible.
Jupiter sesquiquadrate Uranus. This influence is a restless one. We could find it difficult to agree with others, or to find common ground. We need to be willing to make changes in our lives now, or change will be forced upon us. This is a rebellious, restless influence–one in which we should avoid making changes just for the sake of making changes. We might take risks (perhaps foolish ones) for the sake of freedom. This is not a good time for financial speculation or travel. This is a time during which we can open ourselves up to new ways of thinking. However, we could also too easily avoid taking responsibility for things that truly matter.
Mercury sextile Uranus. This is an opportune time to attend meetings and other organized group activities, to communicate online, and to take part in activities involving computers, scientific projects, and metaphysics. Unexpected gains may be realized through such mediums. The intuition is strong, and insights seem to come from “out of the blue”. Original, creative ideas are easy to come by. We can take advantage of our ability to see things in a new light by breathing life into old projects or solving problems in new, creative ways. Varying our usual routine may be especially rewarding.
Mercury square Chiron. Communications may be strained, and possibly hurtful or perceived as such. Misunderstandings are more likely now. Decisions may also be hard to come by, as we tend to doubt ourselves or the effectiveness of our ability to solve problems. It can be hard to read the intention behind the words used to communicate now.
Note: Times given in the table/calendar above are Eastern Time (ET).

JUNE 2
The Moon continues its transit of Taurus until 7:48 AM EDT, after which the Moon moves through Gemini. On this day before a New Moon, it’s better to wind down, rest, reflect, and tie up loose ends than to begin brand new projects or initiatives. The Gemini Moon is curious and perhaps a bit scattered. However, a Venus-Pluto trine occurring later today helps us get in touch with what we most love and cherish, and we can narrow our focus. This influence can lead to profound insights into our relationships or finances. We can feel quite pleasantly passionate and focused on a person, situation, connection, or project. We value patience and strategy. The need to share on deep levels is active now. We seek to grow, improve, or develop our attachments.
The void Moon ends when the Moon enters Gemini today at 7:48 AM EDT.
JUNE 3
The New Moon occurs today in the sign of Gemini at 6:03 AM EDT, presenting us with opportunities to commit to personal goals that express the positive energies of the sign of the Twins in the coming weeks. The New Moon in Gemini clears a path for new beginnings with learning, sharing, writing, speaking, and connecting. There can be a lot to process, and we may feel that there are so many factors involved that it’s challenging to make a decision. We may need to adjust expectations, as we can be see-sawing between seeing too much and too little opportunity. Our conversations or thoughts can lead us in new directions, or there can be new paths for our projects.
JUNE 4
A creative aspect between the Sun and Saturn today is good for sorting, categorizing, and creating order out of chaos. We’re motivated to solve problems. The Moon continues its transit of curious Gemini until 12:18 PM EDT, after which the Moon is in Cancer. While we begin the day craving more interconnectivity, as the day advances, we seek out more comfort and familiarity. Mercury enters Cancer today and will transit the sign until the 26th. We think, speak, and take in information on a deep, intuitive level now. Our emotions color our thoughts more than usual, we communicate with more sensitivity, meaning, and care, and our memory is retentive during this cycle.
The Moon is void from 11:43 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Mercury), until the Moon enters Cancer at 12:18 PM EDT.
JUNE 5
The Moon’s transit of Cancer all day inclines us to want to find a personal pursuit and give it special attention. Its alignment with Mars provides us with courage, enthusiasm, and initiative. The Moon opposes Saturn later today, however, and we can be frustrated by little things that go wrong or that pull us away from our interests. We can feel some tension as our drives to perform or the demands of our responsibilities serve as contrasts. The Cancer Moon seeks familiarity, but events, people, and circumstances tend to jar us out of our comfort zone tonight. This reminds us of the need to find the right balance between our personal and public lives or between play and discipline.
JUNE 6
A Jupiter-Uranus sesquiquadrate today is a longer-term aspect that is the second of three while Jupiter transits Sagittarius this year (the first occurred in January, and the third and final will happen in October). With this influence, we may be feeling restless if our dreams are no longer fulfilling or inspiring us, and we should watch for the taking on of impractical ventures or unusual tangents with weak staying power. This influence can also remind us that taking on too many new projects through the enthusiasm generated by Jupiter can overload us and weigh us down, curtailing our freedom in other life departments. The Moon continues its transit of Cancer until 3:17 PM EDT when it enters Leo. The Leo Moon tends to bring us out of our shells. We seek more interactivity and feedback–perhaps an audience! We’re on the verge of some highly inventive thinking as Mercury and Uranus head towards a sextile, exact tomorrow morning.
The Moon is void from 10:11 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Venus), until the Moon enters Leo at 3:17 PM EDT.
JUNE 7
The sextile between Mercury and Uranus today encourages alternative approaches and new ideas, as well as scientific thinking. Intuition is strong, and insights are quick and exciting. Original, creative ideas come naturally. We can take advantage of this by solving problems in new, innovative ways. Varying our usual routine may be especially rewarding. A creative aspect between the Sun and Pluto points to gaining an advantage or edge through design, solving problems, and willingness to challenge ourselves. We’re ready to put effort and extra work into pursuing our desires. A square between Mercury and Chiron later today, however, can point to strained, unnatural communications, as well as a time when we can be a little more sensitive to criticism. We may doubt ourselves when it comes to solving problems or learning and expressing ourselves. The Moon spends the day in the sign of Leo–a devoted, affectionate, and generous energy. The Moon’s sextile to the Sun today suggests a spirit of cooperation.
JUNE 8
The Moon continues its transit of Leo until 5:24 PM EDT after which the Moon transits Virgo, and we’re likely to move from a playful to a work-focused frame of mind with this Moon sign change. The desire–or need–to tidy up our affairs is prominent with the Virgo Moon. Venus enters Gemini today and will continue to transit the sign until July 3rd. Venus is curious and friendly, but possibly quite fickle as well, in the sign of Gemini. Curiosity motivates us on romantic and social levels. We’re seeking variety. We can be animated and fun but may also keep our distance on an emotional level. Attractions now may begin with words, as we tend to bond more readily on a mental level during this cycle.
The Moon is void from 5:24 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Venus), until the Moon enters Virgo at 5:46 PM EDT.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Taurus
We are motivated by the desire for serenity, security, peace, and comfort. The Moon is at her most sensual and constant in Taurus. Our basic impulses are to relax, resist change, and "stop to smell the roses." Life slows down a little, and we get comfortable. We may also be inclined to stubbornness and materialism under this influence.
While the Moon is in Taurus, people can be emotionally constant but inflexible. It's a time of stronger focus on personal needs and comfort levels, and a period of more common sense and attention to practical matters.
The Moon in Taurus generally favors the following activities: Substantial and material actions that yield solid results. Financial activities, and those involving personal possessions, applying for a loan, beginning a potentially long-term relationship, music, home decor.
When the Moon is in Gemini
Our basic instinct is to communicate, think, and learn under the influence of Moon in Gemini. We are motivated by a desire for variety and by an instinctive curiosity. The Moon in Gemini is light-hearted, breezy, spirited, and curious, but it can also be restless and fickle.
The Moon in Gemini generally favors the following activities: Mental and communicative actions, and more than one activity at once. Reading, learning, letters and emails, errands, writing, teaching, making connections, cafes, light and airy meetings, short trips.
When the Moon is in Cancer
The restlessness of the Gemini Moon gives way to an instinctive need for peace and quiet. A feeling of belonging and safety is what motivates us under this influence. The Moon feels right at home in the sign of Cancer, as it rules the sign. This Moon position has much healing potential. Although insular by nature, our feelings run deep, making it an ideal time to get in touch with what motivates us.
The Moon in Cancer generally favors the following activities: Domestic activities, those that involve awareness of personal needs. Home decor, family get-togethers.
When the Moon is in Leo
The Moon in Leo speaks to our "inner child". It's a warm, generous, whole-heartedly loving position. Pride keeps us from pettiness, but it can also prevent us from opening up and revealing how we are truly feeling. We are on stage, our feelings are grand, and we appreciate some drama in our lives. We are easily threatened by anything that seems to be impersonal. This is a time when we seek attention--when we want to stand out for our special qualities. It's a strong time for romance and any creative activity as well.
The Moon in Leo generally favors the following activities: Creative activities, activities involving children, generous undertakings, undertakings in which personal recognition is desired, and risk-taking.
When the Moon is in Virgo
We instinctually gravitate towards practical activities under the influence of a Virgo Moon. In an urge to set things right, we might easily find ourselves re-organizing and rethinking plans. Emotional satisfaction comes from solving problems, making order out of confusion, and helping others. Health matters might come into focus. We notice the smaller parts that make up the whole, and instead of letting nagging details bother us, we might work on ironing them out so that we can feel more confident moving ahead.
The Moon in Virgo generally favors the following activities: Mental pursuits, work activities, services, and routines. Activities that would benefit from tending to details.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Gemini The cycle which begins for you now will be marked by a more intense focus on mental and communicative activity than you may ever have experienced before. It’s a time of more involvement with other people, a time for gathering information, and a time when you’re apt to be more on the go than ever. There is likely to be an emphasis on reading, writing, studying, and all forms of exchanging information with others in the years ahead – and it will all serve as a path for self-discovery and personal development.
Mercury in Gemini A walking encyclopedia, a yen to know a little bit about everything (and everyone): these are the icons of the cycle you have just begun. Talking, writing, keeping a finger on the pulse of all that’s happening … this is a time of study and learning, a cycle of mental challenge, curiosity, and social/intellectual growth. Such things are an end in themselves rather than a means to any other end.
Mercury in Cancer Gut-level is the way you think, speak, and perceive in the cycle you have just begun. You aren’t interested in the superficial; instead, you want to get right to the root of things. You don’t care about the universal, only about how things impact you and yours. Intellect and emotion mix to the point of inseparability.
Venus in Gemini Saying (or writing) it with style comes naturally now. A yen for variety is a hallmark of this phase, and this especially applies to romantic experience and artistic tastes. (The latter tends to focus on literature in general and poetry in particular.) A sociable, congenial, slightly frivolous orientation sets in.
Mars in Cancer Defensive, aren’t we? With this new cycle getting underway, protecting and preserving you and yours takes on a higher than usual priority. A sensitivity to the needs and wants of others and an appreciation for their frailties (as well as your own) makes you more cautious and conservative … you pick your battles with care.
Jupiter in Sagittarius Faith, optimism, and a yearning to explore all kinds of new horizons: these are some of the focal points in your life at this time. Travel, education, and other ways to stretch your horizons open new doors of opportunity. Religious, philosophical, and cultural matters are likely to have special appeal for you now; transmitting ideas on a broader scale brings gain.
Saturn in Capricorn Responsibility, hard work, ambition, and achievement: these are the foundations you need to build on now, as a new cycle dawns in your life. And yet, there is a tendency to be a little too hard, perhaps a bit cold, in your approach to these things. Let ambition take you to the top, but don’t let it lull you into thinking that the end justifies the means.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone and everyone in their place…
