The NEW MOON occurs on Thursday, July 28th, 2022, at 1:55 PM EDT.

On Thursday afternoon, a New Moon occurs in the Fixed Fire sign, Leo.

The New Moon in Leo is an excellent time for formulating goals regarding “all things Leo.” For example, we might concentrate on new ways to enhance our romantic life, creative endeavors and hobbies, and relationship with children, as well as build our self-confidence and healthy pride in ourselves.

Some of Leo’s lessons involve taking pride in ourselves as unique individuals, assuming responsibility for our lives, and giving ourselves warmly and generously to others.

This New Moon period is an excellent time to meditate upon some of the characteristics of Leo. Keywords for this self-expressive Fire sign — such things as proud, noble, generous, hospitable, caring, warm, authoritative, active, and open — are traits that we might enhance, develop, and incorporate into our personalities.

We all have Leo somewhere in our charts. Seek the coming month to improve those areas of life. It’s time to awaken our “inner child” and find ways to express ourselves creatively. With this potent Leo energy, we can make significant changes in our lives that will benefit us well beyond this Moon cycle. It’s time to make some plans and set the stage for reaping the rewards from our new beginnings, as little or big as they may be, approximately two weeks after the Full Moon occurs.

This lunation gets support from Jupiter, and we can find it natural to want to grow, improve, and move in the direction of positive change. Mars is heading toward an alignment with Uranus at the time of this New Moon, and we can be especially innovative, ready to try new methods and approaches. Still, Mercury is heading into opposition with Saturn, and obstacles can take the form of negative press, criticism, or unexpected delays and red tape.

This week: The Sun is in Leo; Mercury is in Leo; Venus is in Cancer; Mars is in Taurus.

The Sun is in Leo from July 22-August 22. In Leo, the Sun is proud, outgoing, and playful. The Leo Sun is intensely individual—not content with simply being just one of the team. It’s time to shine, add a touch of color and drama to our lives, and perform.

We’re blossoming–it’s a time when we want to enjoy ourselves and express ourselves. We are more generous and grand in our gestures and attitudes. On the shadow side, we can also be self-centered and vain.

While the Sun is in Leo, we take the high road, and we’re very often motivated by the idea of gaining respect and affection. We more naturally express joy, humor, and warmth during the Sun-in-Leo cycle. We also tend to take the lead or become the center of attention and activity.

Mercury is in Leo from July 19-August 4. When Mercury is in Leo, our thinking is more confident and grand. The focus is now on the goal–and the grander a goal the better! The details may not be quite as important now. We are more expressive, even theatrical and given to speech-giving and story-telling under this influence.

We are also more convincing and persuasive, as we exude confidence when we speak or write. With this transit, we may not listen as well as we normally do since we’re very focused on our own ideas.

We’re also strong about making decisions ourselves and letting our voices and input be heard. This is not a time when we’re content with letting others make all the moves or decisions–we need to be involved. We take the lead, manage, direct, and create while Mercury is in Leo. We need to relate to information or create stories about it to absorb it well. During this cycle, we should watch for being too inflexible, proud, or haughty to change course.

Venus is in Cancer from July 17-August 11. In Cancer, Venus is nurturing, protective and self-protective, cautious, and fertile. We experience many emotional ups and downs in love under this influence due to our increased sensitivity and impressionability. We are tender, romantic, and attached. We could be clingy or sulky during this period.

Cancer love is dedicated, warm, and devoted. We show our love through our devotion, care, and concern. We are affectionate and cuddly, and are at our best when we feel safe and secure. We also want to make our loved ones feel safe and comfortable.

It’s a good cycle for collecting and money related to real estate, accommodation, food, coins, silver, or antiques. We enjoy homey, familiar pastimes and art and simple pleasures.

Cautious with our feelings, we are not always confident about boldly trying or sharing new things during this cycle. However, we do whatever we can to make our loved ones feel special. Our memories are long, and we can be very sentimental.

Mars is in Taurus from July 5-August 20. During this cycle, we are determined, stubborn, and resolute. Mars in Taurus can be passive until provoked, and is at its strongest when digging in its heels, outlasting, or defending something! In stark contrast to the impulsive Mars in Aries cycle, we tend to pursue our goals by plodding along patiently. We seek longevity and long-term satisfaction.

While Mars is in Taurus, we’re slow to change course or get started but persevering. Preferring methodical work over creative methods, we seek predictability and stability. We can be stubborn and resistant to change, and we’ll work hardest for material security. It’s not a time when we readily take risks. Instead, we seek concrete, long-lasting results. Our stamina is great, and our cravings and physical needs/desires are prominent.

Uranus transits Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and then from March 6th, 2019, until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. Above all, we’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle.

There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. In general, we’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money, are likely. Our income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.

Romance & Relationships

Venus is in Cancer from July 17-August 11. We treat lovers with sympathy and tenderness, providing the emotional nurturing that they need. We tend to “play it safe” when it comes to relationships. Love and devotion are most important to us, and provide us with a sense of inner security. We seek a deep love in which we can merge souls and personalities with our lover. We are quite devoted to our partners, and we seek such devotion in return.

However, we could also become possessive, manipulative, and stifling. Familiarity is more important to us now. Our fear of rejection is overdeveloped, and we offer our hearts cautiously as a result. We pay more attention to our lovers’ feelings than their words. We feel threatened if a lover acts in an impersonal, overly independent, or detached manner. Safe and solid relationships are more appealing. Romantic and emotional hurts are very hard to forget.

In Cancer, Venus is nurturing, protective and self-protective, cautious, and fertile. We experience many emotional ups and downs in love under this influence due to increased sensitivity and impressionability. We are tender, romantic, and attached. This week: On Sunday and Monday, we can feel isolated or discontent from not getting what we really want. Questions of trust can dominate. We experience a strong desire for more pleasure in our lives, which can be excessive. It’s best to take care not to overstate your feelings or to set up unrealistic expectations in partnerships. There can be some reluctance to commit or to show our affections on Saturday.

Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:

Venus in Cancer Mothering (or being mothered), sympathy, a yearning to put down roots, and a fondness for things that have stood the test of time – these are some of the hallmarks of the phase that now begins in your life. Romantic and social experiences, as well as artistic tastes, will show evidence of these factors.

Venus contraparallel Pluto July 24. Romantic intensity, a feeling of fatedness, possessiveness, fear of betrayal, and insecurity in relationships. Questions of trust can emerge in relationships. Looking for a commitment.

Venus square Jupiter July 24-25. We experience a strong desire for more pleasure in our lives, which can be excessive. Take care not to overstate your feelings or to set up unrealistic expectations in your partnerships. As well, take what your partner says with a grain of salt. There is no malicious intent involved, but feelings of elation can cloud our judgment, and we can promise more than we can deliver.

Venus square Chiron July 30-31. Not a commitment-friendly transit. We are somewhat fearful of investing ourselves emotionally in a relationship.

Venus sextile North Node August 1-2. There is a stronger desire to connect to and belong with others at this time. We are more obliging and sociable.

Venus sextile Uranus August 1-2. We lose our fear of taking risks at this time, and we happily embrace all that is new, unusual, and out-of-the-ordinary with regards to romantic involvements. We are ready to experiment, but not necessarily ready to commit.

Venus sextile Mars August 2. This points to success and ease in close personal interactions. We are passionate and sexy. It is a good time for financial ventures, social life, artistic pursuits, romance, and pleasure. We are now able to take the initiative and to achieve harmony and sexual fulfillment. This influence brings satisfaction to the feelings. We may make permanent ties or relationships that prove to be fruitful and fortunate.

Venus quincunx Saturn August 5. A feeling that we may not be able to express our affections, or that our affections will not be received well, can undermine us in our relationships. Fear of rejection, emotional distancing, and over-sensitivity.

Mercury sesquiquadrate Neptune. We are not thinking clearly, preferring to daydream. Technical facts can be glossed over at this time. It’s not a good time to make a presentation, to ask for what you want, or to formalize agreements.

Venus sesquiquadrate Saturn. There may be difficulties relating to others under this influence. People may be cool with their affections and emotionally distant. Avoid new financial undertakings, as they may prove to be “money pits” as time passes. There may be anxiety or troubles with regards to matters concerned with the feelings. Romantic disappointments, unrequited love, separations, and broken engagements are the more negative manifestations. We tend to lack social confidence at this time and adopt a shy, formal, or reserved social manner. This transit is best used for reflection.

Venus square Jupiter. Feelings of elation in love or with regards to the pleasures of life can lead us to overdo, overindulge, overspend, and overstate our feelings. Avoid hasty (or haughty!) decisions. We might take great strides to get noticed. Avoid impulsive buying. We may also feel lazy and we are inclined to procrastinate.

Mercury square Mars. Impatience, hastiness, and disagreements characterize this transit. This is an unfavorable time for any kind of meeting, starting a new project, and business proposals. We can be irritable and say all the wrong things. We may be competing for the floor when it comes to expressing our ideas, thoughts, and opinions, making it difficult to engage in healthy dialogue. Mental agitation could dominate. We may stir up controversy with what we say, or how we say it.

Mercury trine Chiron. This is an excellent period for opening up communications with others, as we are more sensitive than usual and more willing to listen. Getting our point across is easier, as it’s not only about which words we choose to communicate, we intuitively express the meaning and intention behind the words. We can effectively use words to heal and comfort just now. We are also more open to new ways of looking at problems or at life in general.

Mercury square Uranus. Our senses are stimulated, and we could have sudden flashes of insight or fresh new ideas. However, our ideas are not always received well by others and we can be scatter-brained. It’s a challenge to deal with routine matters or monotonous tasks under this influence. Tasks may be left undone or interrupted. This is not a good time to be understood, so we may want to hold off presenting our ideas for the time being. New information can surface now that upsets the status quo, but can also act to stimulate our minds into new ways of thinking.

There can be enthusiasm but also extravagance and associated guilt. The Venus-Jupiter transit can exaggerate or expand our affections, and this state of mind can lead to overdoing and overstating our feelings. However, if we keep this in check, it can be helpful for entertaining new ideas and approaches related to pleasure, money, and love. The Gemini Moon is lively, fun, and fickle.

JULY 25

A Gemini Moon keeps things busy and moving until 1:55 PM EDT. We can be especially curious, spending more time than usual in our minds. The Moon in Gemini brings out a need to keep things stimulating, even if that means hopping from one project to the next. We’re reasonable, logical, and communicative, and we seek contacts and activities that stimulate us and satisfy our need for diversity, variety, and knowledge. At 1:55 PM, the Moon heads into soulful, protective Cancer. We seek more comfort and familiarity as the Cancer Moon emphasizes our attachments and feelings. This transit encourages us to center ourselves and let go of overthinking. We favor comfort over satisfying our curiosity.

We should watch for hasty communications and skipping steps. We can find ourselves too quickly in disagreement, likely because we’re communicating ineffectively or impatiently. We may be competing for the floor when expressing our ideas, thoughts, and opinions, making it difficult to engage in healthy dialogue.

JULY 27

Again, the Moon is in Cancer all day, and we’re more inclined to play it safe, stick with the familiar, and regenerate on an emotional level. On this day before a New Moon, it’s a wise strategy to lay low, wind down, and let go. Mercury forms a trine to Chiron, helping to open our minds to learning from one another. This influence aids with communicating our feelings constructively. We’re relaying our messages in relatable, accessible ways. Good energy is with us for discussing or giving more thought to sensitive topics. We’re especially alert, observant, and willing to understand. It’s easier than usual to communicate our message now, although this is less about getting the exact wording right and more about conveying our intentions. We might discover new ways to approach problems.

The Leo Moon is bold and expressive, and a New Moon occurs in Leo today at 1:55 PM, bringing the chance for a fresh start. We might concentrate on new ways to enhance our romantic life, creative endeavors and hobbies, and relationship with children. It’s a time to build self-confidence and healthy pride in ourselves. We might strive to assume more responsibility for our lives and give of ourselves warmly and generously. We might aim to improve the Leo-ruled areas of our charts in the coming weeks. It’s time to awaken our “inner child” and find ways to express ourselves creatively. This lunation gets support from stationing Jupiter, and we can find it natural to want to grow, improve, and move in the direction of positive change.

We process information very quickly today, and we’re impatient with situations or people who seem to be slowing us down.

The Moon continues its transit of determined and proud Leo until 2:11 PM EDT, when it moves into Virgo–a devoted, helpful, detail-oriented, and analytical influence. Mercury heads into an opposition with Saturn, exact early tomorrow but strongly influencing today. Under this heavy influence, we may communicate harshly, sparingly, or reluctantly. Doubts might slow our decisions, although this can be a helpful process as we take a break from pushing ahead. There can be mental, transportation, or communication blocks. We could meet with some criticism, delays, or challenges to our opinions, ideas, or intelligence. Circumstances are such that we may need to tone down our enthusiasm if our plans are lacking, and think in more practical, realistic terms.

We instinctually gravitate towards practical activities under the influence of a Virgo Moon. In an urge to set things right, we might easily find ourselves re-organizing and rethinking plans.
