THE LAST QUARTER MOON occurs on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at 6:28 AM EST.

Tuesday morning, the Last Quarter Moon is exact when the Sun in Pisces forms a square with the Moon in Sagittarius. The Last Quarter Moon phase points to some sort of crisis of consciousness. After basking in the awareness symbolized by the full light of the Moon at the time of last week’s Full Moon, we disperse our knowledge and come to a point when we need to sort out what works for us–and what doesn’t–in preparation for next week’s New Moon, when something new is born once again.

This is not the best time to start a major project, as the decreasing light of the Moon symbolizes a descent into unconsciousness. It’s time to begin finishing up the details of that which was conceived at the last New Moon. What revelations did you have last week? What did they mean for you? What can be done now?

This phase of the Moon occurs at 7 degrees and 34 minutes of Sagittarius forming a square with the Sun at 7 degrees and 34 minutes of Pisces, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 6 to 10 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) most significantly.

This week: The Sun is in Pisces; Mercury is in Pisces; Venus is in Capricorn until March 1st, after which Venus is in Aquarius; Mars is in Taurus.

The Sun is in Pisces from February 18-March 20. With the Sun in Pisces, we are guided by altruistic feelings. We are less motivated to do than we are to feel, imagine, and dream. A “what will be, will be” attitude reigns, and we are guided by a sense of universal correlations. Pisces rules empathy, selfless love, devotion, and wisdom. Its shadow side rules self-pity, a feeling of being victimized by life, passivity, and elusiveness.

Mercury is in Pisces from February 10-April 17. When Mercury is in Pisces, our thinking processes are more visual, intuitive, and imaginative. We are especially attuned to the world of emotion, which colors both our thoughts and our communication style. We guess well, express ourselves with imagery, and make decisions intuitively. We are more attracted to consciousness-raising information.

Venus is in Capricorn from February 3-March 1. Getting serious about our finances and boosting our relations with business partners and/or co-workers will be easier than usual under this influence. Our talents for creating artistic structure and form are enhanced, and our ability to form connections with people who support our ambitions is increased. We value enduring connections, reliability, and faithfulness. We take expressing our feelings seriously, and we take our time to warm up to others. We generally keep our “cool” in relationships.

Venus is in Aquarius from March 1-26. We move towards unconventionality, independence, and freedom as themes in our social relationships under this influence. Aquarius can be just as faithful as Capricorn, but it has to be on his own terms! Experimental relationships are more intriguing now. Being friends as well as lovers is important to us during this cycle. Allowing one another freedom of expression, and treating others fairly, unselfishly, and impartially, are themes now.

Mars is in Taurus from February 14-March 31. We are determined, stubborn, and resolute. Mars in Taurus can be passive, and is at its strongest when resisting or defending something! In stark contrast to the impulsive Mars in Aries cycle, we tend to pursue our goals by plodding along patiently. Our goals are longevity and long-term satisfaction.

Uranus transits Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and then from March 6, 2019, to 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle. There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.

Uranus returned to the sign of Aries on November 6th, 2018, for a four-month stay.

Uranus entered Aries on March 11th, 2011, and continued its transit of Aries until May 15, 2018, and then from November 6, 2018, to March 6, 2019. The urge to start fresh, to break free from restrictive attitudes or circumstances, to totally redesign an area of our lives (or even our personalities), and to gain freedom through independence is strong with Uranus in Aries.

Romance & Relationships

 

Venus is in Capricorn from February 3 to March 1, 2019. Venus in Capricorn is a cycle in which security and stability in our relationships are paramount. We are more cautious with our emotions and somewhat skeptical of both our own feelings and others’ expressions of affection. Longevity is important to us under this influence. There is a formality to Capricorn that can make personal expressions seem awkward and forced. However, this cycle offers us the opportunity to consider some of the practical issues of our relations and to work on making our partnerships work in the real world. A dose of realism in our personal lives can help us to feel more grounded and secure in the long run.

Venus is in Aquarius from March 2-26, 2019. While Venus was in Capricorn, we valued enduring connections, reliability, and faithfulness. We took expressing our feelings seriously, and we also took our sweet time warming up to others! Generally, we kept our “cool” in relationships. With Venus now in Aquarius, we still keep our “cool” in relationships, but in a detached and impersonal sort of way. Unconventional set-ups become more appealing. Bringing the spirit of friendship into romantic relationships is a positive use of Venus in Aquarius energy. Relationships that fairly scream “alternative” appeal to us now. It’s all about being open-minded and somewhat detached with Aquarius energy dominating the love arena. With Venus in Aquarius, it’s best to go into dates with new people casually, with no expectations and no strings. Melodrama and emotionalism simply won’t work. We may also find ourselves attracted to, or attracting, people who are not our “type.”

This week: Venus aligns with the South Node on Sunday through Tuesday, we may be questioning whether some relationships (or elements of our relationships) are good for us. We may be a little indulgent with one another now. We may be temperamental when it comes to our feelings and affections on Monday and Tuesday. On Thursday and Friday, emotions can be chaotic, and we may crave both freedom and closeness, swinging between the two. There is also a tendency to believe what we want to believe. We can certainly learn a lot about our own feelings about someone.

Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:

Venus in Capricorn February 3-March 1. Marry for money and then learn to love ’em: that’s what your heart tells you now, as a new cycle gets underway in your life. Does that sound cynical? Maybe so – but it does reflect the yearning you feel for security and stability now, and it suggests the kind of compromises you may be willing to make to accomplish these objectives.

Venus in Aquarius March 1-26. love for the unusual, a distaste for stodgy old rules and conventions, a feeling that you’re above the petty bourgeois stuff and nonsense: that’s what a new cycle brings into your life now. (“I love humanity; it’s people I can’t stand!”) Unconventional romantic and social connections are likely at a time like this.

Venus square Chiron February 2-3. Not a commitment-friendly transit. We are somewhat fearful of investing ourselves emotionally in a relationship.

Venus sextile Neptune February 16-17. Unusual attractions that add imagination, inspiration, and emotional “color” to our lives may occur now. We are attuned to the subtleties of human interaction, and we are more inclined to naturally cooperate with others. An imaginative, romantic time.

Venus conjunct Saturn February 17-18. Affections stabilize and mature. Relationships are stabilized and steady, although feelings are expressed reservedly, formally, or sparingly. An air of formality is brought to personal and social relationships. A new sense of realism in existing partnerships comes now. A sense of duty may lead us to sacrifice a personal pleasure for a cause or for a loved one; thus we may have to abstain from personal gratification for the time being. Problems in personal relationships that have been swept under the carpet may surface now, and we are ready to face them. Dissatisfaction with loved ones becomes more glaring. Renewed ties to old friends or lovers are possible, or a new sense of responsibility in existing relationships.

Venus conjunct Pluto February 21-22. An extraordinarily passionate time for relationships. We are focused and confident. There is a tendency to want–and to demand–a lot from a partnership or friendship. Powerful and uplifting time for romantic/sexual relationships. New insights into relationships and love. Strong attractions. Relationships begun under this influence are intense and passionate, deep and far from superficial, and can be quite possessive as well.

Venus opposition North Node February 24-26. This is a time for reviewing our attachments in terms of whether they are contributing to our growth.

Venus square Uranus February 28-March 1. We might have to deal with issues of freedom versus intimacy during this period. Peculiar or impulsive attractions are exciting but unlikely to last very long. Treat them as passing fancies, and enjoy them while they last–but try to hold off on making any big decisions with regards to love today.

Venus sextile Chiron March 1-2. Love has the power to heal old wounds. We are open to romantic feelings and more willing to act upon them.

Venus semi-square Neptune March 1-2. Romantic confusion as well as relationship ups and downs. Self-deceptions may come to light now.

Venus semi-square Jupiter March 7. We experience a strong desire for more pleasure in our lives, which can be excessive. Take care not to overstate your feelings or to set up unrealistic expectations in your partnerships.

Venus contra-parallel Mars March 9-10. Passions are stimulated and intense. A fine line between love and hate. Competitiveness. Questions are raised or ultimatums made.

According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs this week from approximately 12:05 AM on Sunday, February 24th, to Monday, February 25th, at approximately 7:10 AM EST, while the Moon is in Scorpio. Another window occurs from Wednesday, February 27th, from approximately 9:15 PM EST, until Thursday, February 28th, at approximately 1:15 AM EST, while the Moon is in Sagittarius. The Sagittarius Moon aligns with Jupiter this morning, and we’re reaching for our joy, trusting in a mission or something higher than us. We’re embracing our brave, adventurous, and confident side, and we are seeking to grow, expand, and improve. The Sun and Mars form a sextile today, boosting our confidence further, and stimulating a strong desire to take action and to pursue our passions. We can feel energized, particularly about tying up loose ends or dealing with financial matters. There is a sense that we can accomplish much, and a good sense of timing as well. The Capricorn Moon is responsible and practical, and since Capricorn is a cardinal sign, it’s also action-oriented. This trait is highlighted today as the Moon harmonizes with the Sun and Mars–bodies that have just formed a sextile. We’re tapping into this dynamic, enterprising energy today.

There is a tendency to gloss over problems or to see what we want to see, imagining the best or the worst when the truth is somewhere in between. We might have doubts about our lovability and worth or about a relationship, pleasure, or comfort levels. Alternatively, we might go in the other direction and gloss over critical flaws and details. The Moon continues its transit of Capricorn until 2:07 PM EST, however, and we crave results, preferring to see the reality of a situation. The Moon heads into Aquarius at 2:07 PM, and we tune into our need to connect with others, particularly as the Moon aligns with Venus. We’re in the mood for fun and unusual activities now.

When the Moon is in Scorpio

 Intensity is what the Moon in Scorpio is all about. Whether it's passion, elation, sorrow, or desire, emotions are felt on a deeply personal level. We are motivated by the desire to get to the bottom of things, and we instinctively read between the lines. Superficiality won't work for us now. The Moon in Scorpio urges us to uncover our own power, and it's an excellent time to rid ourselves of old fears and limiting habits. It can be an intimate and passionate time. Avoid manipulative tactics, brooding, and suspiciousness.

The Moon in Scorpio generally favors the following activities: Taxes, accounting, intimacy issues, psychological examinations, research, self-examination, getting rid of old things.

When the Moon is in Sagittarius

 The Moon is at her most optimistic and upbeat in Sagittarius. We are motivated by a need to seek the truth, and we are ready to pursue a new vision. We are not interested in details just now. Instead, we focus on the big picture. New experiences and adventures satisfy a deep emotional need. Spontaneity is the key. We may also be inclined toward overdoing and overstating. We don't want to plan ahead, and prefer to "wing it".

Achievement and manifestation are most important to us now. We are resourceful and don't want to waste time, energy, or resources. This can be a very sober influence--even a depressing one. However, it can also be a productive time when we look reality in the eye.

The Moon in Capricorn generally favors the following activities: Long-term activities that yield slow but steady results, practical undertakings, career issues, making a business plan, practical investments.

When the Moon is in Aquarius

Attraction to all that is new and unusual, and an instinctive need for improvement, characterize the Moon in Aquarius. Reactions are more intellectual than emotional, and interactions are more impersonal than personal, under this influence. This is a time that promotes social gatherings, dealing with group ideals and goals for the future, brainstorming, new ideas, and progressive changes. We are open to new methods of doing things and we have our eye on the future. It can be hard to stick to schedules now, as personal freedom is most important to us.
