Daily Trends
The LAST QUARTER MOON occurs on Friday, Apr 26th, 2019, at 6:18 PM EDT.
On Friday evening, the Last Quarter Moon is exact, when the Sun in Taurus forms a square with the Moon in Aquarius. The Last Quarter Moon phase points to a small crisis of consciousness. After basking in the awareness symbolized by the full light of the Moon at the time of last week’s Full Moon, we arrive at a point where we need to sort out what works for us–and what doesn’t–in preparation for next week’s New Moon, when something new is born once again. This is not the best time to start a major project, as the decreasing light of the Moon symbolizes a descent into unconsciousness. It’s time to begin finishing up the details of that which was conceived at the last New Moon. What revelations did you have last week? What did they mean for you? What can be done now?
This phase of the Moon occurs at 6 degrees and 23 minutes of Aquarius forming a square to the Sun at 6 degrees and 23 minutes Taurus, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 4 to 8 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) most significantly.

This week: The Sun is in Taurus; Mercury is in Aries; Venus is in Aries; Mars is in Gemini.
The Sun is in Taurus from April 20-May 21. In Taurus, the Sun is methodical, sensual, and receptive. The Sun in Taurus is most active when it is defending or resisting things! As the Sun moves through Taurus when plants take root, our determination and security needs are strong. Taurus is loyal to all that is familiar, and values longevity. The shadow side of Taurus is possessiveness and bullheadedness.
Mercury is in Aries from April 17-May 6. When Mercury is in Aries, we are less concerned with objective viewpoints and explanations, and more concerned with reaching a decision…quickly! Our thoughts and ideas are pioneering, and we tend to speak more spontaneously and directly with the planet of communication in bold and assertive Aries.
Venus is in Aries from April 20-May 15. In Aries, love is spontaneous and direct. The chase is very exciting to us under this fiery influence. We are bold, fresh, and a little impatient when it comes to matters of the heart. We don’t look back with Aries energy. We are not interested in saying sorry or dwelling on the past. It’s a brand new day! It’s time to make things work right now. Aries is known for a love of the chase and the conquest, but Aries love can be longstanding as long as it remains relatively fresh. Aries is blunt–there’s no sugar-coating with Aries. This can sting, but rarely is Aries energy mean or petty. Saying it like it is is important to Aries. Desires are strong and expressed spontaneously, enthusiastically, and directly. Aries prefers to seduce rather than be seduced, to chase rather than be chased.
Mars is in Gemini from March 31-May 15. In Gemini, Mars is considerably more versatile and flexible–and considerably less determined and focused! Our interests become more diversified, possibly to the point of going off on so many tangents that we are scattered and ineffective.
Saturn transits Capricorn from December 19/20, 2017, to March 21, 2020; and then finishes up its transit from July 1 to December 17, 2020. Read about Saturn’s transit through Capricorn here.
Jupiter entered Sagittarius on November 8th, 2018, and transits the sign until December 2nd, 2019. Read more about the Jupiter in Sagittarius transit.
Uranus is in Taurus. Uranus first transited Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and is now consistently in the sign (since March 6th, 2019) until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle. There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Aries from April 20 to May 16, 2019.
This week:
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Aries April 20-May 16. Romance at the drop of a hat is part and parcel of the cycle you have just begun. Winning the hearts of others can be a challenge you’re eager to accept – and the thrill of the chase might be most of the fun. Is it the pursuit of happiness – or the happiness of pursuit?
Venus sextile Pluto April 13-14. Subtly powerful and uplifting time for romantic/sexual relationships. New insights into relationships and love. Strong attractions.
Venus square Jupiter April 14-15. We experience a strong desire for more pleasure in our lives, which can be excessive. Take care not to overstate your feelings or to set up unrealistic expectations in your partnerships. As well, take what your partner says with a grain of salt. There is no malicious intent involved, but feelings of elation can cloud our judgment, and we can promise more than we can deliver.
Venus conjunct Chiron April 22-23. Healing energy is brought to love relationships, and a new cycle begins. A commitment-friendly transit. Love can heal old wounds. We are open to romantic feelings, and more willing to act upon them. This is a good time to make a resolution to repair, heal, and improve relationships.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Sunday, April 21st, from 12:01 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Pluto), until the Moon enters Sagittarius at 12:00 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Tuesday, April 23rd, from 7:44 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Capricorn at 6:51 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Thursday, April 25th, from 3:48 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Pluto), until the Moon enters Aquarius the next day, Friday, April 26th, at 5:28 AM EDT.

Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
This week, the Moon is waning – a period that is generally considered unfavorable for new beginnings with exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details).
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs this week from Monday, April 22nd, at approximately 9:10 PM EDT, until Tuesday, April 23rd, at approximately 7:40 AM EDT, while the Moon is in Sagittarius. Another window technically occurs from Friday, April 26th, at approximately 7:20 PM EDT, until Sunday, April 28th, at approximately 5:40 AM EDT, while the Moon is in Aquarius, but is better after 10 AM on Saturday.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Sun conjunct Uranus. A new cycle of independence, progressiveness, and change begins. We are more inclined to accept and appreciate all that is new, unusual, and avant garde. We have an opportunity to shine for what makes us unique. Favors the media, computers, metaphysical subjects. Restlessness and a need for change. Restriction is not tolerated now. Our egos are awakened and we seek new ways to express ourselves. There is a need to be creative and unique in our expression of self. This is usually a time to join with groups and/or to become a group leader. It’s also an easy time to make new friends. Sudden, unexpected events can happen out of the blue.
Sun semi-square Neptune. Our willpower is low as we stray from our goals and temporarily lose focus. It’s difficult to formulate — or stick to — clear goals during this transit. Concentrating on artistic or spiritual pursuits is better than focusing on matters that require straightforward, factual thinking today. It can be difficult knowing where or how to direct our willpower under this influence. It’s also a challenge knowing where we stand with others. Avoid such things as scheduling surgery, important appointments, job interviews, or launches of new projects at this time.
Venus conjunct Chiron. We have the chance to heal our personal relationships now, as we are more open to intimacy and commitment, as well as to learning from one another. We more easily see beauty in human weaknesses, and are less inclined to see fault, or to concern ourselves with fault. It’s a strong time for building trust in relationships, and for seeing potential in one another, although the process might feel painful! Insecurities are revealed and, ideally, cleansed. A new cycle of healing in love begins now.
Mars semi-square Uranus. A tendency to take risks, to feel restless, to act on sudden impulses without considering consequences. There may be changes in work schedules, or life’s circumstances could challenge us in such a way that we need to change our goals or actions.
Mars square Neptune. Inspiration comes from unusual sources, but you have a hard time staying focused and organized. Energy may be variable. Intuition is strong, but may be faulty. Not a good time to begin a new project or affair.

APRIL 21
The Moon continues its transit of focused, passionate Scorpio until 12:01PM EDT. The Moon’s move into fiery Sagittarius midday feels fresh. We’re likely to feel inspired, and we’re ready to learn, share, and exchange our ideas with the Moon’s trine to Mercury. With Mercury in Aries, were ready to pioneer rather tha follow the crowd. More excitement is in the air as the Sun and Uranus head into alignment, exact tomorrow.
The Moon is void from 12:01 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Pluto), until the Moon enters Sagittarius at 12:00 PM EDT.
APRIL 22
The Sun and Uranus form an alignment today. We’re changing our values and how we view our personal possessions, attachments, money matters, and sense of security now. While the Sun and Uranus align every year, this is the first time they do so since Uranus entered Taurus. This influence stimulates change, a new modus operandi, an interruption or disruption, an a strong desire to feel free. We seek new ways of expressing ourselves. We can be progressive- pioneering, but possibly also defiant or rebellious. With Uranus, some level of detachment or decrease in sentimentality seems necessary to break free from limiting situations. The Moon spends the day in the sign of Sagittarius, reinforcing notes of spontaneity and freedom-seeking.
APRIL 23
Early today’s Sun semi-square to Neptune points to some possible meandering or straying from the usual routine, and perhaps calls up the need to make some adjustments to our overall route toward meeting our goals. If we’ve neglected our emotional or spiritual hunches and ideals, this can be a time for giving them a listen. Venus aligns with Chiron today, and it’s a time for expressing compassion or forgiveness. We may feel drawn to problem areas so that we can repair them. We more readily see beauty in human weaknesses, and we are less inclined to see (or concern ourselves with) fault. It’s a strong time for building trust in relationships, as well as for seeing potential in one another, although the process might feel painful at points. Seeing the beauty in the pain of growing and repair is more likely now. The Moon continues its transit of brave Sagittarius until 6:49 PM EDT, after which it heads into responsible Capricorn. Today also holds strong energy for taking action towards healing, cleansing, guiding, or teaching. We can feel energized and inspired creatively today.
The Moon is void from 7:44 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Capricorn at 6:51 PM EDT.
APRIL 24
Pluto turns retrograde today, and will continue in this state until October 3rd. This shift tends to bring about some initial confusion, heaviness, and magnification of problems. Pluto’s retrograde cycle itself, however, is an excellent period for research and gaining new insight into our self-destructive tendencies, needs for control, and search for the truth by looking within. Outward pressures may ease somewhat during this period. Over the coming months, we may be reassessing how we use our power. As well today, our powers of concentration, or at least our will to focus, increase. The Moon spends the day in practical Capricorn.
APRIL 25
The Moon spends another day in the sign of Capricorn, and we’re inclined to seek increased order, sense, and structure in our lives. Our sense of responsibility is stronger than usual, and we aim for efficiency in most areas of life now. Our careers, reputation, and objectives are in focus with the Moon in this practical sign. The Moon aligns with both Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn, and this can intensify our ambitions and perhaps sober us up about a matter. We aim to be more responsible, practical, and efficient, but should watch for putting too much pressure on ourselves and the systems around us to perform.
The Moon is void from 3:48 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Pluto), until the Moon enters Aquarius the next day, Friday, April 26th, at 5:28 AM EDT.
APRIL 26
The Moon’s ingress into Aquarius this morning feels bright and hoepful. A Uranus-Juno sextile inspires similar energy: we’re encouraged through our contacts and interactions with others, and we’re ready to cooperate while giving one another the respect and space they need. We’re open to new ways of making things work. We may be leveraging our ability to lead and inspire now. This can be a time of dynamic, positive group activities. With a Mercury-Ceres trine active today as well, we’re communicating with added imagination, warmth, and consideration. This is a good time for both teaching and learning, and for expressing feelings, and in the business world, marketing and promoting. As the day advances, we head toward tense Mars aspects, exact tomorrow morning, and we should watch for making poor choices on a whim.
The Moon continues its void until 5:28 AM EDT, when it enters Aquarius.
APRIL 27
A vague sense that our dreams or a particular source of inspiration is not quite fulfilling us as it once did can disrupt the mood today. Mars forms a square to Neptune and a semi-square to Uranus this morning, and we may want to watch for a tendency to hook into an impractical venture or go on unusual tangent unless it’s truly harmless and a small diversion. Bigger decisions should probably not be made based solely on today’s perceptions, in other words! We should watch for difficulties with boundaries, rules, and limits in particular, as well as for attempts to take the easy way out, which will probably backfire under these conditions. From disappointment, we can feel the inspiration to make improvements, however, and the Moon’s transit of positive Aquarius and its harmonious aspects to Mercury and Mars, most notably, can help lift us into an optimistic frame of mind.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Scorpio
Intensity is what the Moon in Scorpio is all about. Whether it's passion, elation, sorrow, or desire, emotions are felt on a deeply personal level. We are motivated by the desire to get to the bottom of things, and we instinctively read between the lines. Superficiality won't work for us now. The Moon in Scorpio urges us to uncover our own power, and it's an excellent time to rid ourselves of old fears and limiting habits. It can be an intimate and passionate time. Avoid manipulative tactics, brooding, and suspiciousness.
The Moon in Scorpio generally favors the following activities: Taxes, accounting, intimacy issues, psychological examinations, research, self-examination, getting rid of old things.
When the Moon is in Sagittarius
The Moon is at her most optimistic and upbeat in Sagittarius. We are motivated by a need to seek the truth, and we are ready to pursue a new vision. We are not interested in details just now. Instead, we focus on the big picture. New experiences and adventures satisfy a deep emotional need. Spontaneity is the key. We may also be inclined toward overdoing and overstating. We don't want to plan ahead, and prefer to "wing it".
The Moon in Sagittarius generally favors the following activities: Adventurous activities that involve "winging it", travel, higher education, starting publishing projects, advertising, sports, physical activity.
When the Moon is in Capricorn
We become aware of the need for structure and planning ahead. We also instinctively are aware of the limitations of time. We are motivated by a desire for success. Achievement and manifestation are most important to us now. We are resourceful and don't want to waste time, energy, or resources. This can be a very sober influence--even a depressing one. However, it can also be a productive time when we look reality in the eye.
The Moon in Capricorn generally favors the following activities: Long-term activities that yield slow but steady results, practical undertakings, career issues, making a business plan, practical investments.
When the Moon is in Aquarius
Attraction to all that is new and unusual, and an instinctive need for improvement, characterize the Moon in Aquarius. Reactions are more intellectual than emotional, and interactions are more impersonal than personal, under this influence. This is a time that promotes social gatherings, dealing with group ideals and goals for the future, brainstorming, new ideas, and progressive changes. We are open to new methods of doing things and we have our eye on the future. It can be hard to stick to schedules now, as personal freedom is most important to us.
The Moon in Aquarius generally favors the following activities: Unusual or radical undertakings, social pursuits, group projects, trying something new, joining a group.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Taurus The cycle now dawning in your life emphasizes stability, substance, practicality, and the concept of value – value in the material as well as psycho-spiritual sense. This marks a time of building to last, of appreciating the substantial rather than ephemeral. Consolidating past gains rather than focusing on radical new departures is likely to be a major theme for you during this cycle. Appreciating the finer things of life is another hallmark of this phase, which marks a time when you should be concentrating on “smelling the roses” rather than passing them by in such a hurry.
Mercury in Aries New ideas and an independent or pioneering mental orientation take on more importance in your life at this time. Teaching, learning, communicating, and social contact have a way of outlining new directions in your life now, and there is much activity and involvement with these kinds of issues.
Venus in Aries Romance at the drop of a hat is part and parcel of the cycle you have just begun. Winning the hearts of others can be a challenge you’re eager to accept – and the thrill of the chase might be most of the fun. Is it the pursuit of happiness – or the happiness of pursuit?
Mars in Gemini Learning, communicating, the exchange of ideas: these are the experiences you crave as a means to make your mark now, as a new phase begins in your life. You’re a person with something to say, and you realize that others have information that is essential to your goals. A time of much mental energy and initiative … perhaps with an element of conflict tossed in for good measure.
Jupiter in Sagittarius Faith, optimism, and a yearning to explore all kinds of new horizons: these are some of the focal points in your life at this time. Travel, education, and other ways to stretch your horizons open new doors of opportunity. Religious, philosophical, and cultural matters are likely to have special appeal for you now; transmitting ideas on a broader scale brings gain.
Saturn in Capricorn Responsibility, hard work, ambition, and achievement: these are the foundations you need to build on now, as a new cycle dawns in your life. And yet, there is a tendency to be a little too hard, perhaps a bit cold, in your approach to these things. Let ambition take you to the top, but don’t let it lull you into thinking that the end justifies the means.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone and everyone in their place…
