The FULL MOON occurs on Friday, April 19, 2019, at 7:12 AM EDT.

The Full Moon occurs on Friday morning when the Sun in Aries forms an opposition to the Libra Moon. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time – a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.

The Aries-Libra polarity is a relationship axis, where Aries represents “self” and Libra represents “other”. Where Aries is about self-assertion, Libra is about compromise. The energy of the Libra Moon is the awareness of the need for relationships and all that comes with maintaining them — compromising, negotiating, graciousness, and balancing. The Aries Sun, on the other hand, is self-assertive, leading, and personally courageous.

This Full Moon urges us to strike a balance between meeting our personal needs and tending to the needs of a significant other, and between independence or autonomy and dependence or companionability. The Libra Moon is diplomatic, equality-minded, and fair-minded. The Aries Sun, however, values authenticity over tact and is energized by independent efforts. The Full Moon illuminates this conflict.

This Full Moon occurs in the final degree of the sign of Libra. This is the second Full Moon in Libra–the first one happened in the first degree of the sign on March 20th. The Sun is heading towards an alignment with Uranus in Taurus. More well-formed revelations about our independence, need for others, and partnerships can happen now, perhaps with the final word or decisive revelations on a matter.

This week: The Sun is in Aries until April 20th, when it enters Taurus; Mercury is in Pisces until the 17th, after which Mercury is in Aries; Venus is in Pisces until April 20th, after which Venus is in Aries; Mars is in Gemini.

The Sun is in Aries from March 20-April 20. In Aries, the Sun is enthusiastic and spontaneous. We are motivated by the desire to conquer. We are more impulsive and we want to initiate. Aries is a sign that bounces back quickly–there is little shame with Aries. There are few, if any, apologies! Aries is brave and pioneering, and somewhat innocent. We are direct and rather uncomplicated in our needs, but we can also be short-sighted and lack the desire to plan ahead.

The Sun is in Taurus from April 20-May 21. In Taurus, the Sun is methodical, sensual, and receptive. The Sun in Taurus is most active when it is defending or resisting things! As the Sun moves through Taurus when plants take root, our determination and security needs are strong. Taurus is loyal to all that is familiar, and values longevity. The shadow side of Taurus is possessiveness and bullheadedness.

Mercury is in Pisces from February 10-April 17. When Mercury is in Pisces, our thinking processes are more visual, intuitive, and imaginative. We are especially attuned to the world of emotion, which colors both our thoughts and our communication style. We guess well, express ourselves with imagery, and make decisions intuitively. We are more attracted to consciousness-raising information.

Mercury is in Aries from April 17-May 6. When Mercury is in Aries, we are less concerned with objective viewpoints and explanations, and more concerned with reaching a decision…quickly! Our thoughts and ideas are pioneering, and we tend to speak more spontaneously and directly with the planet of communication in bold and assertive Aries.

Venus is in Pisces from March 26-April 20. Pisces never sees the world in black-and-white terms. Rather, Pisces sees all the colors of the rainbow. With the goddess of love in Pisces, our love is all-embracing, we are able to forgive and understand, we are seducible and seductive, and we show compassion to our partners. Venus in Pisces is tender and affectionate, although hard to reach nevertheless, as there is a longing for something that is hard to define and hard to satisfy. Borders and boundaries blur under Venus in Pisces. The shadow side of this position is allowing ourselves to be victimized or deluded, as well as evasiveness.

Venus is in Aries from April 20-May 15. In Aries, love is spontaneous and direct. The chase is very exciting to us under this fiery influence. We are bold, fresh, and a little impatient when it comes to matters of the heart. We don’t look back with Aries energy. We are not interested in saying sorry or dwelling on the past. It’s a brand new day! It’s time to make things work right now. Aries is known for a love of the chase and the conquest, but Aries love can be longstanding as long as it remains relatively fresh. Aries is blunt–there’s no sugar-coating with Aries. This can sting, but rarely is Aries energy mean or petty. Saying it like it is is important to Aries. Desires are strong and expressed spontaneously, enthusiastically, and directly. Aries prefers to seduce rather than be seduced, to chase rather than be chased.

Mars is in Gemini from March 31-May 15. In Gemini, Mars is considerably more versatile and flexible–and considerably less determined and focused! Our interests become more diversified, possibly to the point of going off on so many tangents that we are scattered and ineffective.

Uranus is in Taurus. Uranus first transited Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and is now consistently in the sign (since March 6th, 2019) until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle. There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.

Romance & Relationships

 

Venus is in Pisces from March 26-April 20, 2019. Like Aquarius, Pisces love is universal. However, Pisces draws no bounds in love. With Venus in Pisces, we have compassion (and perhaps attraction) for those who are left out, overlooked, or victimized. We are self-sacrificing, and we have a hard time setting up borders. The walls go down, we have a hard time saying no (especially if our compassion is engaged), but we are also prone to avoiding all that makes us feel uncomfortable. Venus in Pisces March 26-April 20. A martyr complex, a love for the underdog, a search for your soul mate: such are the experiences associated with the new cycle you’re now just beginning. A yen for soul-stirring romance, a weakness for the weak, and a tendency to idealize people and relationships … very aesthetic, very other-worldly.

Venus in Aries April 20-May 16. Romance at the drop of a hat is part and parcel of the cycle you have just begun. Winning the hearts of others can be a challenge you’re eager to accept – and the thrill of the chase might be most of the fun. Is it the pursuit of happiness – or the happiness of pursuit?

Venus sextile Pluto April 13-14. Subtly powerful and uplifting time for romantic/sexual relationships. New insights into relationships and love. Strong attractions.

Venus square Jupiter April 14-15. We experience a strong desire for more pleasure in our lives, which can be excessive. Take care not to overstate your feelings or to set up unrealistic expectations in your partnerships. As well, take what your partner says with a grain of salt. There is no malicious intent involved, but feelings of elation can cloud our judgment, and we can promise more than we can deliver.

Venus conjunct Chiron April 22-23. Healing energy is brought to love relationships, and a new cycle begins. A commitment-friendly transit. Love can heal old wounds. We are open to romantic feelings, and more willing to act upon them. This is a good time to make a resolution to repair, heal, and improve relationships.

Mercury sextile Saturn. A good time to get organized, to do detail work, and to prepare for the future. Decisions made now tend to be practical and well thought out. Work done now will have tangible results in the future.

  Mars sesquiquadrate Saturn. We are called upon to solve problems, or our plans and efforts meet with resistance. Circumstances seem to block our efforts to assert ourselves. Patience is necessary now, although frustration is very likely. It can feel like more effort than usual is required to complete tasks.

Venus semi-square Uranus. Unusual attractions (to people and things) can have us acting on a whim. We may deal with freedom versus closeness issues in our relationships. Avoid impulse buys at this time, and hold off on decision-making with regards to finances. Some instability, restlessness, and rebelliousness is probable in romantic relationships. We may not see eye to eye with a loved one, and we could be taken off guard by unexpected events. This is not a favorable aspect for beauty treatments because they could have unexpected results.

Venus conjunct Neptune. New and fresh beginnings on creative levels characterize this transit. Heightened sensitivity to, and awareness of, beauty and spirituality. We are easily influenced, seducible and seductive, and given to strong powers of imagination. We are more attuned to the world of beauty and romance today. Gentleness with others is the best way to harness this energy. A “magical” time on a romantic and social level, but it could also be a confusing or illusory influence as well. Psychic openness and compassion.

Sun square Saturn. As we face obstacles to our goals, we begin to see the tools with which we have to overcome them. A heavy dose of realism seems forced upon us under this influence, but our efforts to measure up to expectations can ultimately increase our confidence in our ability to be responsible for ourselves. This influence is a somber one.

Mercury sextile Pluto. We possess more insight and psychological understanding than usual. We are willing to look beyond the surface of things and investigate further. Perhaps more importantly, we are more patient and strategic in our decision-making.

Mercury square Jupiter. Information overload is possible today. It is all too easy to miss or neglect important details. We may exaggerate, have a hard time putting our ideas to practical use, or overstate under this influence. This is an unfavorable transit for travel. Our ideas and plans may be too grandiose just now. We could have a hard time convincing others of our point of view, and we could too easily jump to conclusions. There could be a lot of talk about nothing. Lack of clear mental focus, but we may make measurable progress if we can concentrate.

Mars sesquiquadrature Pluto. Our desires are intense and difficult to satisfy under this influence. A tendency to bully and confront may dominate. Efforts to make changes could be thwarted, or power struggles emerge. The trick is to remain flexible and to develop strategies for achieving our goals.

Venus sextile Saturn. Affections stabilize and mature. Relationships are stabilized and steady, although feelings are expressed reservedly, formally, or sparingly. A new sense of realism in existing partnerships comes now. Small advances can be made in business and in partnerships. Support from older people or authority figures may come by way of solid advice or tangible help. Renewed ties to old friends are possible, or a new sense of responsibility in existing friendships.

Sun square Pluto. Insubordination and abuse of power. Impatience with rules. Compulsiveness. The urge to get to the bottom of matters is with us, but we are too insistent. Avoid beating a dead horse and attempting to force matters that should naturally take time to unfold. Circumstances now can push us to discover our own power–power that comes from a strong sense of self rather than superficial energy derived from manipulating people into doing what we want them to do. Events may occur now that highlight the need to trust.

The Sun and Jupiter form a trine this morning, and we’re inclined to believe in our plans fully. We want to improve, grow, and impress. Optimism, confidence, and enthusiasm are in big supply now. The Leo Moon taps into this energy, forming a grand trine with the Sun and Jupiter, and emotional energy runs high and steady. We can be highly creative now, although a little impulsive or arrogant, too, as the Sun and Mars form a semi-square. This aspect can either help spur us on to pursue our dreams or stimulate restlessness – it can go either way. Also today, Venus forms a sextile to Pluto, and we might gain new insight into–or take a comfortably strategic approach to–our money and relationships. Our feelings can be more focused and intensified, in a generally pleasant and positive way. We appreciate some depth of emotion and authenticity in our dealings with others.

The Moon moves into the sign of Virgo today, and the desire–or need–to tidy up our affairs is prominent. Keeping busy and making headway satisfies us more than usual, although the Moon’s square to Mars can be frenzying for some. A Venus-Jupiter square can point to hasty decisions as well. Establishing the order that a Virgo Moon craves is challenging under this influence. Feelings of elation or restlessness in love or with regards to the pleasures of life can lead us to overdo, overindulge, overspend, and overstate our feelings. Impulsive spending and haughty decisions may be a problem. We may procrastinate under this influence, but we can also be a little braver socially.

The Moon continues its void period until 6:14 AM EDT when the Moon enters Virgo.

The Moon spends the day in the respectful, gracious sign of Libra. The Libra Moon is conciliatory, compromising, fair, and just. We seek balance, harmony, and equality with the Moon in this Cardinal Air sign. The Moon forms squares to Saturn and Pluto this afternoon and tonight, which might put a damper on our spirits temporarily as we are reminded of all that we need to accomplish. The Moon’s sextile to Jupiter helps us to see the bigger picture and reminds us to refresh our spirit.

APRIL 19

The Moon continues its transit of Libra, and under this influence, we are primarily concerned with coming to a balance or a sense of harmony. This morning at 7:14AM EDT, the Full Moon occurs. Our emotional discoveries are rich and perhaps a bit startling or surprising. This is the second Full Moon in Libra, the last one having just occurred on March 20th in the first first degree of Libra. Today’s Full Moon is in the final degree, bringing a very full, bright, and perhaps final perspective on a matter. This lunation is more likely to be about our urge to find a balance between our independent and interdependent natures. Realizations are full-on. We aim to see things more holistically as Mercury and Chiron form an alignment. We tend to talk or think through our issues and concerns. Together, these influences encourage an open mind and willingness to learn through others. Today, sudden awareness spurs us to grow and improve. The Moon enters Scorpio at 8:42AM EDT.

The Moon is void from 7:13 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to the Sun), until the Moon enters Scorpio 8:41 AM EDT.

APRIL 20

The Sun heads into the sign of Taurus today, where it will stay until May 21st. The Taurus Sun takes its time- it is deliberate, methodical, and languishing. It’s also very sensual and receptive energy. During this cycle, our security needs are strong. Another sign changes today: Venus enters Aries. Until May 15th, Venus in Aries energizes our desire for a challenge, a change of pace, some competition, or even a bit of a chase. Regarding matters of the heart, we are bolder and perhalps a little impatient. We are straightforward and don’t want to wait when it comes to money, love, and social life or our pleasures. The moon spends the day in perceptive and brave Scorpio. We are emotionally in tune.

Moon Signs This Week:

When the Moon is in Leo

The Moon in Leo speaks to our "inner child". It's a warm, generous, whole-heartedly loving position. Pride keeps us from pettiness, but it can also prevent us from opening up and revealing how we are truly feeling. We are on stage, our feelings are grand, and we appreciate some drama in our lives. We are easily threatened by anything that seems to be impersonal. This is a time when we seek attention--when we want to stand out for our special qualities. It's a strong time for romance and any creative activity as well.

The Moon in Leo generally favors the following activities: Creative activities, activities involving children, generous undertakings, undertakings in which personal recognition is desired, and risk-taking.

When the Moon is in Virgo

We instinctually gravitate towards practical activities under the influence of a Virgo Moon. In an urge to set things right, we might easily find ourselves re-organizing and rethinking plans. Emotional satisfaction comes from solving problems, making order out of confusion, and helping others. Health matters might come into focus. We notice the smaller parts that make up the whole, and instead of letting nagging details bother us, we might work on ironing them out so that we can feel more confident moving ahead.

The Moon in Virgo generally favors the following activities: Mental pursuits, work activities, services, and routines. Activities that would benefit from tending to details.

When the Moon is in Libra

Creating order is the focus, not necessarily through tidying or organizing as was the case while the Moon was in Virgo, but rather through pleasing interactions with others and aesthetics in our environment. We tend to solve problems through diplomacy, and we are more able to put aside our own emotions in order to achieve the peace we crave. The tendency now is to avoid direct confrontations. Decisions do not come easily. Seeing both sides to any given situation is the main reason for hesitation. Fear of losing others' approval is another.

The Moon in Libra generally favors the following activities: Relationship and partnership issues, activities involving teamwork and cooperation, activities that involve self-examination, activities related to beauty.

When the Moon is in Scorpio

 Intensity is what the Moon in Scorpio is all about. Whether it's passion, elation, sorrow, or desire, emotions are felt on a deeply personal level. We are motivated by the desire to get to the bottom of things, and we instinctively read between the lines. Superficiality won't work for us now. The Moon in Scorpio urges us to uncover our own power, and it's an excellent time to rid ourselves of old fears and limiting habits. It can be an intimate and passionate time. Avoid manipulative tactics, brooding, and suspiciousness.

The Moon in Scorpio generally favors the following activities: Taxes, accounting, intimacy issues, psychological examinations, research, self-examination, getting rid of old things.
