The FULL MOON occurs on Monday, November 27th, 2023, at 4:16 AM EST. 

On Monday morning, the Gemini Moon exactly opposes the Sagittarius Sun. The Gemini-Sagittarius polarity is a mental axis, where Gemini represents the “lower mind” and Sagittarius represents the “higher mind”. A Gemini Moon encourages us to think logically, while Sagittarius persuades us to think in a far broader manner. Sagittarius symbolizes the quest for meaning and ideas that expand upon the here and now.

Gemini is quite comfortable in his or her immediate environment or neighborhood, while Sagittarius stimulates us to venture beyond. Neglecting either end of the axis will surely backfire on us. Ideally, a balance should be found between the two energies, and this is what the Full Moon invites us to do.

This Full Moon is about communication, attitude, and sense of adventure. Something has been building inside of us, and now is the time when the energy of the cosmos fairly demands that we let it out. Over the next two weeks, we will discover what this means for us. For now, we can’t sit on our feelings. We need to express them.

The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time–a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships. With the Moon full and bright in the sky, symbolic “illumination” occurs in our own lives.

However, these feelings and revelations are emotional ones, as there is a sense of emotions bursting forth into our consciousness. It’s time to express ourselves and to let things out of our systems. Of course, we might want to exercise some care while doing so, knowing that what is coming out of us is not particularly rational as yet.

This Full Moon is aligned with Mars via the Sun and square Saturn. There can be a real desire to master a situation, but some blocks or obstacles to overcome.

Finalizing plans should probably be saved for a later date and we should watch for too-quick decisions and actions, but paying close attention to what’s illuminated now makes sense. Through the events or the tensions of this time, we can ultimately get to a better understanding of ourselves, and particularly of our desires and feelings.

This week: The Sun is in Sagittarius; Mercury is in Sagittarius until December 1st, when Mercury enters Capricorn; Venus is in Libra; Mars is in Sagittarius.

The Sun is in Sagittarius from November 22-December 21. With the Sun in Sagittarius, our focus shifts from the need for an intimate connection with a person and with ourselves, to the desire to reach out to the world and connect with something larger than ourselves.

While the Sun moves through this fiery, mutable sign, we can take steps to increase our understanding and awareness of the world around us. We are more able to muster up the courage to expand our horizons and branch out into new ways of thinking.

We can gain more confidence and optimism by focusing on the “big picture” as we move away from our focus on the details of mundane existence. Although we may be prone to overdoing our expectations, we have the opportunity to nurture our faith, hope, and vision under this influence.

Mercury is in Sagittarius from November 10-December 1. [Mercury will return to Sagittarius from December 23, 2023, to January 13th, 2024 due to Mercury’s retrograde motion partially in the sign (Mercury is retrograde from December 13, 2023, to January 1, 2024).] When Mercury is in Sagittarius, our thinking shifts from a need to plumb the depths of any given situation to the desire to learn about a wide range of topics. We seek ideals, our thinking is more optimistic, and our faith increases. We are more equipped to believe and to persuade. What is fair and unfair concerns us most now. However, we are not always very precise under this influence.

We’re more inclined to ask questions and seek answers during this forward-looking cycle. We might often wax philosophical, and we enjoy wrapping our minds around new concepts and ideas. Still, the details are not as interesting to us now, as we prefer to envision the big picture.

On the downside, we can be inconsistent and lack attention to details. While frank and open, we can also be tactless during this period. We’re generous with our communications and input, and we’re humorous and friendly at this time.

Mercury is in Capricorn from December 1-23. [Mercury will return to Capricorn from January 13th to February 5th, 2024 after retreating into Sagittarius due to Mercury’s retrograde motion from December 13, 2023, to January 1, 2024.] When Mercury is in Capricorn, our thinking is methodical and our focus is sober and practical. It is easier to concentrate on the task at hand under this influence. Our conversations may be quite realistic or focused on business/practical matters. Our thought patterns and communication styles become more logical, orderly, and organized.

We are more able to sort out what is relevant and essential. Realism enters the picture, our speech is no-nonsense, and precision becomes important to us. Our survival instincts are strong–we’re interested in what will benefit us in the long term.

We’re not interested in the fluff, preferring to get right to a point or the bottom line. Communication can be somewhat guarded or cautious, and similarly not very floral or expressive. We gravitate to concrete subjects and information that’s logical, useful, and well-organized. We may prefer a methodical approach to studying. Our fantasies may be well-considered and possible, with realistic overtones.

We need to be wary of becoming too rigid in our thinking. We may come across as cold or harsh. For some, there is a fine line between realism and pessimism. At times, we might lack humor, or we’re inclined toward sarcasm when joking. We can be quite stubborn with our ideas and methods.

We can use this period to make solid, realistic plans and get organized. It’s a favorable time to advise, teach, or guide. Generally, we’re more concerned than usual with our reputation or responsibilities. Our dependability can reap rewards. We love to plan ahead and map out our next steps. Changes of schedule can be most disconcerting during this cycle.

Our reactions are sensible, cool, and level-headed while Mercury is in Capricorn.

Venus is in Libra from November 8-December 4. We favor charm over assertiveness to get what we want during this cycle. Usually quite willing to negotiate and compromise, we can be very obliging with others. We’re also very idealistic about love, and we seek intellectual peers. Although Venus in Libra is very relationship-focused, there is an air of cool detachment to this energy. We prefer things are done the “right” way, and aggressive or uncouth behavior turns us off.

The shadow expression of this position includes over-dependence and superficiality. To avoid unpleasant situations, we could easily gloss over deeper issues at play in our relationships. It’s probably best to avoid the trap of acquiescing to partners while privately resenting the fact or thinking ourselves martyrs for doing so.

While Venus is in Libra, we are more artistically inclined or seek balance in our personal environment. This cycle is excellent for promoting cooperation, harmony, mutually beneficial connections, and fairness. We are gentle but firm, and we’re skilled at mediation.

We’re more likely to prosper during this cycle in partnership, through one-to-one associations, such as counseling, or in fields related to harmony, relationships, beauty, design, and the law. We’re not fond of out-and-out competition or aggressive pursuit, preferring win-win situations, hands down. We attract things to us and appeal to others gently and kindly. Equality and politeness are important now, and we despise hurting others’ feelings.

Mars is in Sagittarius from November 24, 2023-January 4, 2024. With a Sagittarius Mars, our actions are motivated by our ideals. We are bothered by routine, quickly becoming restless if we feel confined. Our love of adventure and of conquest is strong–this is the position of wanderlust. We start projects or challenges with gusto, although we may tend to abandon them rather quickly. This may be because we set our sights too high! There is a tendency to jump in and think about it later. Part of us resists directions, instructions, and planning ahead.

We are spontaneous, direct, and passionate about our beliefs with Mars in Sagittarius. It’s a playful, fun-loving, and optimistic energy. We have strong morals, and we’re champions for the truth. We’re also ready for a hearty debate. Given the space to find our own way, we can move mountains. In fact, we enjoy stretching our limits. It’s an inspiring, forward-looking period when we follow our hearts and positive visions of the future.

We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. Above all, we’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle.

There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. In general, we’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money, are likely. Our income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.

Romance & Relationships

Venus is in Libra from November 8-December 4. Venus rules Libra and thus is dignified in the sign. In fact, Venus feels right “at home” in Libra, where she seeks to balance and harmonize. With Venus in Libra, we can easily be in love with love. We are more comfortable with a close partner with whom we can seek to have a balanced relationship. We favor employing charm over aggressive pursuit to get what we want.

Although Venus in Libra is very relationship-focused, there is an air of cool detachment to this energy. We are very obliging with others–quite willing to negotiate and compromise. We can be especially idealistic about love. As we prefer things be done the “right” way, we’re turned off by aggressive or uncouth behavior.

The shadow side of this position is dependency, inconsistency, and superficiality. In an attempt to avoid unpleasant situations, we could easily gloss over deeper issues at play in our relationships. It’s probably best to avoid the trap of acquiescing to our partners but privately resenting the fact or thinking ourselves martyrs for doing so!

This week: On Sunday, we can be uncertain how to integrate our needs for companionship with the desire to be free or independent.

On Tuesday through Thursday, encounters can feel fateful. We are more sensitive to whether or not some relationships (or elements of our relationships) are good for us. It’s best to watch for falling back on behaviors and indulgences that keep us distant from our true feelings and needs. We can also wrestle with our expectations in love.

Venus in Libra As this new cycle takes hold in your life, romance and social interaction take on a greater importance for you. Harmonious ties to others are what you yearn for; refinement and elegance are what you seek. The ideal partnership, the perfect balance, the highest standards of truth and beauty – these are some of the things that quicken your pulse now.

Venus sesquiquadrate Saturn November 22. Feelings of isolation, of not getting what we really want, and of not being loved the way we want to be loved can get in the way of pleasant relations with our partners.

Venus opposition Chiron November 22. Love cannot be forced. This is not a commitment-friendly transit, as we may feel alienated for no apparent reason and unwilling to give of ourselves. Our relationships may open up some inner wound.

Venus quincunx Uranus November 26. Impulsive spending, peculiar attractions, fear of commitment, freedom vs. intimacy issues. We might question whether we need more excitement in our relationships, or whether we need freedom from them; yet we don’t feel confident enough to rock the boat.

Venus opposition North Node (Venus conjunct South Node) November 28-29. This is a time for reviewing our attachments in terms of whether they are contributing to our growth.

Venus quincunx Neptune November 29-30. Idealism and disappointments in love. Avoid becoming blinded by what you want to see, rather than what really is. Doubts about love.

Venus square Pluto December 2-3. Intense passions, but there’s a hidden agenda. Jealousy and possessiveness are high, in direct proportion to fear of losing partnership. Avoid starting a new relationship at this time, because it can be characterized by these energies.

Venus quincunx Uranus. Impulsive spending, peculiar attractions, fear of commitment, and freedom vs. intimacy issues may be themes now. We might question whether we need more excitement in our relationships (or leisure activities), or whether we need freedom from them; yet we don’t feel confident enough to rock the boat.

Mercury square Neptune. We find it hard to follow facts, directions, and instructions. Difficulties concentrating on hard, cold facts are likely; and we may question facts altogether or avoid being pinned down for answers. This is a bad time for signing on the dotted line. Perceptions are confused, unrealistic, or too idealistic to carry weight in the real world. Conversations may be vague.

Sun inconjunct (quincunx) Jupiter. The desire to experience something new or for more freedom to explore can amount to restlessness if we don’t know what it is we want. This is a time of adjustments, and perhaps of letting go of old habits, so that we can free ourselves up for different experiences.

Venus quincunx Neptune. Under this influence, we are apt to see what we want to see, rather than what actually is, when it comes to both financial affairs and affairs of the heart. Still, we tend to doubt our perceptions of perfection. The end result is a feeling of insecurity on romantic and social levels. Avoid making large purchases and commitments at this time.

Mercury sextile Saturn. A good time to get organized, to do detail work, and to prepare for the future. Decisions made now tend to be practical and well thought out. Work done now will have tangible results in the future.

The Moon continues its transit of Taurus until 7:41 PM EST, encouraging patience and savoring the moment. Finances, belongings, comfort, and security are in focus. The Moon in Gemini from 7:41 PM forward is lively, less deliberate, and more curious. We prefer to keep our options open with a Gemini Moon, and we’re especially communicative and connected. Venus forms a quincunx with Uranus, and impulsive spending, peculiar attractions, fear of commitment, and freedom vs. intimacy issues may be themes now. We might question whether we need more excitement in our relationships or whether we need freedom from them, yet we don’t feel confident enough to rock the boat. Taming rebelliousness makes sense now.

With Mercury’s trine to the North Node, we might connect with information or people that/who encourage us to grow, improve, or move forward. The Moon opposes Mars tonight, and we’re heading toward a Full Moon, suggesting a battle between our need to unwind, chat, or detach and our desire to take action, debate, or pursue something more.

NOVEMBER 27

The Moon spends the day in Gemini, and it reaches full this morning at 4:16 AM EST, bringing information to light. It can be a time to release, reveal, or announce something, particularly communications or learning-related, to which you want others to catch on. It’s not ideal, however, for revealing a matter you want to downplay since whatever comes to light now will likely have some fanfare surrounding it. With this Full Moon configured with Mars and square Saturn, impulsiveness is possible. There can be a real desire to master a situation but blocks or obstacles to overcome. There can be a lot of information coming in today. We should aim to take it in and process everything before making important decisions. The coming days are powerful for new ideas, but they’re new and require more time to develop and mature.

The Full Moon in Gemini is curious and hungry for ideas and information. It can bring sudden awareness to our lives and a rather urgent “need to know,” to get an important message across, to finish a communications project, or to make an announcement. Travel and communications are in sharp focus. Watch for too-quick decisions and actions, but pay close attention to what illuminates now. It can be an especially revealing time.

Gemini’s ruler, Mercury, forms a square to Neptune today, reinforcing a need to wait and see. It can be challenging to follow or clearly communicate facts, directions, and instructions. Perceptions may be confused or overly idealistic, influenced heavily by wishful thinking and imagination. We may be dealing with deception or self-deception, and it can be difficult to be discriminating. Our minds are open to many different possibilities and options, however.

NOVEMBER 28

With a Mercury-Uranus biquintile today, we seek to stand out as different intellectually, or at least not sound like everyone else. We prefer not to follow the crowd with our ideas and communications. This aspect inspires creative ways to approach technical matters. Today and tomorrow, it’s time to review our attachments regarding whether they contribute to our growth. We can question whether some relationships (or elements of our relationships) are good for us. We may be a little enabling with one another, or we could fall back on behaviors and indulgences that keep us distant from our true feelings and needs. The Moon spends the day in Gemini, and we’re playing with ideas and making plans. This Moon encourages a connected, communicative approach to our lives.

The Moon is in observant Gemini only until 1:54 AM EST, when it moves into protective Cancer. With the Cancer Moon, we seek familiar faces and spaces. Safety, comfort, and warmth are the most appealing now. We crave a stronger sense of belonging. It’s a protective, insular, emotional, and devoted Moon. The Sun forms a quincunx with Jupiter today, and we can feel torn between two ideas or drives, perhaps see-sawing between alternatives. It can be challenging to arrive at satisfying conclusions. It’s a time of adjustments and possibly letting go of old habits so that we can free ourselves up for different experiences.

With today’s Venus-Neptune quincunx, we might want to see things realistically on the one hand and prefer to nurture a fantasy or look the other way on the other. The Moon spends the day in Cancer, and we thrive in familiar settings and activities. This Moon encourages us to center ourselves and let go of overthinking. It’s sensitive, cautious, protective, and receptive.

Mercury enters Capricorn today. Our thinking is systematic, and our focus is sober and practical while Mercury transits the sign until December 23rd. However, today’s Mercury-Saturn sextile grounds our thinking and expectations. We are mentally prepared, desiring more order and organization in our lives. Decisions we make now tend to be practical and well thought out. We’re alert, practical of mind, and busy. Thoroughness brings rewards! Reasoning things logically and step by step can be beneficial and even soothing. This aspect promotes a deliberate and efficient approach to the world around us. We see the benefits of organizing, making lists, attending to details, and making sound judgments and plans.

When the Moon is in Taurus

We are motivated by the desire for serenity, security, peace, and comfort. The Moon is at her most sensual and constant in Taurus. Our basic impulses are to relax, resist change, and "stop to smell the roses." Life slows down a little, and we get comfortable. We may also be inclined to stubbornness and materialism under this influence.

While the Moon is in Taurus, people can be emotionally constant but inflexible. It's a time of stronger focus on personal needs and comfort levels, and a period of more common sense and attention to practical matters.

The Moon in Taurus generally favors the following activities: Substantial and material actions that yield solid results. Financial activities, and those involving personal possessions, applying for a loan, beginning a potentially long-term relationship, music, home decor.

When the Moon is in Gemini

Our basic instinct is to communicate, think, and learn under the influence of Moon in Gemini. We are motivated by a desire for variety and by an instinctive curiosity. The Moon in Gemini is light-hearted, breezy, spirited, and curious, but it can also be restless and fickle.

The Moon in Gemini generally favors the following activities: Mental and communicative actions, and more than one activity at once. Reading, learning, letters and emails, errands, writing, teaching, making connections, cafes, light and airy meetings, short trips.

When the Moon is in Cancer

 The restlessness of the Gemini Moon gives way to an instinctive need for peace and quiet. A feeling of belonging and safety is what motivates us under this influence.
