The FULL MOON LUNAR ECLIPSE occurs on Wednesday, May 26th, 2021, at 7:14 AM EDT.
On Wednesday morning, a Total Lunar Eclipse occurs in the sign of Sagittarius.
A Full Moon occurs when the Sun in Gemini forms an opposition to the Moon in Sagittarius. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time – a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.
This Full Moon is a total Lunar Eclipse — the second while the North Node transits Gemini and one of many eclipses falling along the Gemini-Sagittarius sign axis (the last along this axis will occur in December 2021).
This eclipse is one of several cosmic pushes that puts us in touch with our needs for communication, learning, sharing, and transportation.
Our feelings count, and we’ll see and feel their power now, paving the road for new directions. However, this can be an impulsive and misguided time for acting. It’s better to observe, take in, and process before jumping into action.
This is a time to work on clearing up past patterns that have been holding us back from personal fulfillment, particularly those that are communication-centered or that revolve around our attitudes, expressions, gestures, studies, and mobility. We experience a greater awareness of problems and especially lacks or flaws, and they’re significant. Our feelings about a lingering problem or matter can become very clear now.
The eclipse’s square to Jupiter speaks to the extravagant nature of this time. There can be exaggeration now, or news and revelations coming in can be blown up and dramatic, but not discountable since they’re based on real feelings.
See more about this Lunar Eclipse.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 5 degrees and 26 minutes of Sagittarius, opposite the Sun at 5 degrees and 26 minutes of Gemini, affecting people born with personal planets and points at 0 to 10 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) most significantly.
The chart above shows the fundamental and most important features of the chart.

This week: The Sun is in Gemini; Mercury is in Gemini; Venus is in Gemini; Mars is in Cancer.
The Sun is in Gemini from May 20 to June 21. Knowledge and diversity motivate us with the Sun in Gemini. We are more sociable, intellectual, and insatiably curious under this influence. We tend to scatter our energies as a result of this curiosity and awareness of all of our options. We are more communicative and versatile, but we can also be unreliable.
Mercury is in Gemini from May 3 to July 11. When Mercury is in Gemini, we are especially communicative, curious, and sociable. Mercury feels right at home in Gemini, one of the signs that it rules. We tend to take more pleasure in gaining a superficial knowledge of many subjects rather than dig deep into any one topic. We are especially astute when it comes to arguing or making a point. We are attracted to wordplays, puns, and negotiations. We are easily distracted.
Venus is in Gemini from May 8 to June 2. In Gemini, we have a finger in every pie. Curiosity motivates us on romantic and social levels. “Variety is the spice of life” is the attitude now. We are sociable, communicative, and interested. We can be animated and fun but may also keep our distance on an emotional level. Attractions now may begin with words, as we tend to bond more readily on a mental level with Venus in Gemini. The shadow side of Gemini is fickleness.
Mars is in Cancer from April 23 to June 11. We pursue our interests ardently, but we avoid a direct approach to going after we want. As well, our goals and plans are subject to mood swings and vacillations. We are defensive rather than overtly aggressive. Much of what we do depends on our mood of the moment.
Jupiter is in Aquarius from December 19th, 2020, to May 13, 2021, and then from July 28 to December 28, 2021. Read more about the Jupiter in Aquarius transit. Jupiter is in Pisces from May 13th to July 28th, when it retreats into Aquarius. Jupiter returns to Pisces on December 28th, 2021. There will be another part to this 3-part act in 2022! Read more about the Jupiter in Pisces transit.
Saturn transits Aquarius from March 21 to July 1, 2020, and from December 17th, 2020, until March 7, 2023. Read about Saturn’s transit of Aquarius.
Uranus is in Taurus. Uranus transits Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and then from March 6th, 2019, until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle.
There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Gemini from May 8 to June 2. In Gemini, Venus is communicative, sociable but emotionally aloof, insatiably curious, and a little bit flighty. Fickleness with our affections is a strong possibility, but the desire for a meeting of minds is strong and the urge to socialize dominates.
Some detachment from our emotions is likely, which may be a breath of fresh air for some. The lines of communication open, although we may only scratch the surface of things. With this influence, love is playful and lighthearted. Fickleness is the shadow side of Venus in Gemini.
This week: On Sunday, transits heighten our senses and experiences in our relationships. Passions are strong. On Thursday, we can have a hard time seeing our relationships clearly. We may be tempted to go overboard. There are some tendencies to project our fantasies, whether these are positive or negative, onto others or relationships. Watch for deception and self-deception now.
On Friday and Saturday, we are communicative and diplomatic–inclined to talk about our feelings, connections, affections, and relationships. There can be clarifications about feelings or love. Note that Mercury turns retrograde on Saturday, the 29th, however, and in the days surrounding this event, it’s best not to speak ahead of ourselves.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Gemini Saying (or writing) it with style comes naturally now. A yen for variety is a hallmark of this phase, and this especially applies to romantic experience and artistic tastes. (The latter tends to focus on literature in general and poetry in particular.) A sociable, congenial, slightly frivolous orientation sets in.
Venus trine Saturn May 19. Relationships are stabilized and steady, although feelings are expressed reservedly, formally, or sparingly. A new sense of realism and maturity in existing partnerships. Relationships begun under this influence possess a distinctly practical theme, almost as if the partnership is a business endeavor, and have much potential to last.
Venus parallel Mars May 23. This influence favors romantic and sexual relationships. We’re connecting with pleasant but intense passions.
Venus square Neptune May 27. Relationship ups and downs characterize this transit–a time when romantic mirages are more than likely. We see what we hope to see, rather than what really is. The “highs” of a relationship begun under this energy may be thrilling, but the accompanying “lows” are bound to set in, and they can be extremely draining. Be careful not to set yourself up for disappointment.
Venus parallel Mercury May 27. A congenial time when we appreciate diplomacy and socialize more readily.
Venus conjunct Mercury May 28-29. Favors playfulness in love and enhanced communication between partners.
Venus quincunx Pluto May 30. This is a time of adjustments and re-assessments in our close personal relationships and/or with regards to our social lives. Issues of power and control can arise. Unreasonable or irrational fears of loss, or jealousy, could also emerge.
Venus semi-square Uranus May 30-31. Uncertainty about the desire to be close to someone. Freedom versus closeness. A desire to experiment in the romance department may be fleeting and ultimately unsatisfying or frustrating.
Venus sesquiquadrate Saturn May 31-June 1. Feelings of isolation, of not getting what we really want, and of not being loved the way we want to be loved can get in the way of pleasant relations with our partners.
Venus trine Jupiter June 2-3. Harmony and good will reign under this influence. Expansive feelings in love, and a feeling that anything is possible if we set our sights high enough, are experienced now. We are friendly, big-hearted, sociable, and optimistic. It is easy to make social contacts under this influence. Cheerfulness, trust, and confidence in love and social matters.
Venus square Chiron June 12. Not a commitment-friendly transit. We are somewhat fearful of investing ourselves emotionally in a relationship.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Sunday, May 23rd, from 5:36 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Pluto), until the Moon enters Scorpio at 11:00 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Tuesday, May 25th, from 5:19 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Pluto), until the Moon enters Sagittarius at 10:39 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Thursday, May 27th, from 1:36 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to Mercury), until the Moon enters Capricorn at 10:24 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Saturday, May 29th, from 6:15 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Pluto), until the Moon enters Aquarius the next day, Sunday, May 30th, at 12:05 AM EDT.

Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
The Moon is waxing this week until the Full Moon on the 26th, which is generally favorable for new beginnings, with exceptions. The Moon is waning this week after the Full Moon on the 26th, which is generally unfavorable for new beginnings, again with exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details).

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Sun semi-square Mars. Circumstances spur us into action. Aggressiveness and conflicts are possible now. As long as we channel the excess energy constructively, instead of wasting our time arguing, we can accomplish much. We may have “spring fever” now, no matter what the season! We could find ourselves driven by a restless desire to do something; but without a well-defined goal, we tend towards impulsive actions and get ourselves into needless arguments.
Venus square Neptune. Relationship ups and downs characterize this transit – a time when romantic mirages are more than likely. We see what we hope to see, rather than what really is. The “highs” of a relationship begun under this energy may be thrilling, but the accompanying “lows” are bound to set in, and they can be extremely draining. Be careful not to set yourself up for disappointment. The same goes for finances – what appears to be a great buy is likely to turn out to be a financial drain or money pit. Lines can blur when it comes to pursuit of pleasure, as we can convince ourselves to believe what we want to believe.
Mercury conjunct Venus. Lighthearted conversations, sociability, humor, cooperation. Good time for socializing and for communicating with ease, telling others how we feel, and negotiating. Mentally, we’re not as disciplined as usual, as we prefer to chat with others and to think about more “pleasant” things than work. Generally favorable for commerce.

MAY 23
Saturn stations and turns retrograde today, and it will remain retrograde until October 10th. This station can temporarily magnify all things “Saturn,” bringing somewhat heavy energy to the day (and to this surrounding week). We’re a little more likely to make errors until we adjust to the shift, particularly so close to a Lunar Eclipse. While Saturn is retrograde, we tend to review and question our responsibilities and commitments instead of dealing with them in the moment. There can be more than usual experiences of guilt and self-doubt as we internalize fears but also an excellent chance to reassess our commitments. The Moon spends most of the day in the sign of Libra, and we can be particularly concerned with finding a balance or reaching a compromise. At 11:00 PM EDT, the Moon enters perceptive, investigative Scorpio.
The void Moon occurs from 5:36 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Pluto), until the Moon enters Scorpio at 11:00 PM EDT.
MAY 24
The Moon spends the day in the sign of Scorpio, drawing us to transformative and emotionally moving experiences. We’re interested in discovering deeper truths and motives. The Scorpio Moon is observant, strategic, emotional, and intense. It forms a square to Saturn and opposes Uranus this evening, and we can find others difficult to read or just plain difficult! Unreliability, rebelliousness, or blocks are likely to play with our plans today. These aspects can stir us up if we feel confined or hemmed in by others. With Venus semi-sextile Mars this morning, we might struggle with whether to take a direct or indirect approach to get what we want. In truth, we may be better off recognizing that it doesn’t have to be one way or the other–a combination would be ideal, or else the see-sawing can be confusing to all.
MAY 25
The Sun semi-squares Mars, casting a somewhat tense or aggressive tone to the morning, and we should resist pressure to act too soon. If we have unfinished business, we can feel impatient or restless now. We do better with this influence if we have a well-defined goal, but we may want to reach that goal more quickly than is currently possible. As long as we channel the excess energy constructively instead of wasting time arguing, we can accomplish much. The day’s transits are considerably more creative as it advances. We’re more willing to give one another the benefit of the doubt. Still, emotions run high as we approach a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse, occurring tomorrow morning. Today’s Moon continues in observant Scorpio until 10:39 PM EDT when it enters spirited Sagittarius.
The void Moon occurs from 5:19 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Pluto), until the Moon enters Sagittarius at 10:39 PM EDT.
MAY 26
A Lunar Eclipse occurs today in the sign of Sagittarius at 7:14 AM EDT. It’s the fourth eclipse in an eclipse set occurring along the Gemini-Sagittarius sign axis (the first appeared in June 2020, and the last will happen in December 2021). We can experience symbolic illumination–something that’s been building inside of us is now releasing. Our emotions heighten, and we’re likely to awaken to new ideas, revelations, or desires to explore. We should take some time to process our discoveries since this eclipse tends to magnify our issues. It’s best to watch what we say or put out into the world today since it’s all too easy for things to become exaggerated under this influence. The Moon spends the day in optimistic Sagittarius, and we seek out non-routine, spontaneous experiences.
MAY 27
Today’s Venus-Neptune square can cast a veil over our needs, wants, and perceptions. We may be dreaming up the ideal, which can clash with reality. We can lack some discrimination, particularly regarding people we care about, our relationships, and material things. We should make an effort to separate fact from fiction to not set ourselves up for disappointment. What appears to be a great buy or something we need may very well turn out to be useless to us, or worse, a financial drain or money pit. Lines can blur when it comes to the pursuit of pleasure, as we can convince ourselves to believe what we want to think. We’re likely too close to the situation. Examining discontent experienced now may be an opportunity to identify where we’ve neglected our spiritual, idealistic, romantic, or imaginative needs. The Moon continues its transit of Sagittarius until 10:24 PM EDT when it enters Capricorn. The Sagittarius Moon values experience, learning, and truth, while the Moon in Capricorn transit encourages our responsibility and practicality.
The void Moon occurs from 1:36 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to Mercury), until the Moon enters Capricorn at 10:24 PM EDT.
MAY 28
The Moon spends the day in the sign of Capricorn, and we’re a little more ambitious and practical than usual. The Moon’s trine to Uranus opens us up to new ways of getting the job done. Mercury is heading into alignment with Venus in the sign of Gemini, and we’re inclined to analyze our feelings and ask/answer questions. It’s an excellent time to talk about or quantify our emotions and reach agreements or negotiate with others. However, because Mercury is about to station and turn retrograde, some of the plans or decisions we make now may change later. This transit points to lighthearted conversations, sociability, humor, and cooperation. It’s a good time for socializing and communicating with ease. Mentally, we’re not as disciplined as usual, as we prefer to chat with others and think about pleasant things. We may be intellectualizing feelings. It’s a cooperative influence that stimulates our desire for harmony and balance so that we may not dig too deeply. There can be some superficiality or skimming the surface of things.
MAY 29
Mercury stations and turns retrograde today for a period of over three weeks. Until June 22nd, our thinking turns inward as we review and re-assess matters. Mercury retrograde periods can be times of heightened inner awareness, when meditation, benefiting from keeping a journal, reworking old plans, and reviewing past work are especially favored. Minor breaks in the mechanical aspects of communication can re-connect us to other, possibly more meaningful, means of communication. Today, there can be some cloudy thinking or confusion. Communication can be tricky, and it can be hard to focus on cold, hard facts. The Moon spends the day in Capricorn, and we’re more goal-oriented and particularly aware of our responsibilities and performance. The Moon’s opposition to Mars this morning can point to tension, distraction, and some impatience if we’ve taken on too much.
The void Moon occurs from 6:15 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Pluto), until the Moon enters Aquarius the next day, Sunday, May 30th, at 12:05 AM EDT.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Libra
Creating order is the focus, not necessarily through tidying or organizing as was the case while the Moon was in Virgo, but rather through pleasing interactions with others and aesthetics in our environment. We tend to solve problems through diplomacy, and we are more able to put aside our own emotions in order to achieve the peace we crave. The tendency now is to avoid direct confrontations. Decisions do not come easily. Seeing both sides to any given situation is the main reason for hesitation. Fear of losing others' approval is another.
The Moon in Libra generally favors the following activities: Relationship and partnership issues, activities involving teamwork and cooperation, activities that involve self-examination, activities related to beauty.
When the Moon is in Scorpio
Intensity is what the Moon in Scorpio is all about. Whether it's passion, elation, sorrow, or desire, emotions are felt on a deeply personal level. We are motivated by the desire to get to the bottom of things, and we instinctively read between the lines. Superficiality won't work for us now. The Moon in Scorpio urges us to uncover our own power, and it's an excellent time to rid ourselves of old fears and limiting habits. It can be an intimate and passionate time. Avoid manipulative tactics, brooding, and suspiciousness.
The Moon in Scorpio generally favors the following activities: Taxes, accounting, intimacy issues, psychological examinations, research, self-examination, getting rid of old things.
When the Moon is in Sagittarius
The Moon is at her most optimistic and upbeat in Sagittarius. We are motivated by a need to seek the truth, and we are ready to pursue a new vision. We are not interested in details just now. Instead, we focus on the big picture. New experiences and adventures satisfy a deep emotional need. Spontaneity is the key. We may also be inclined toward overdoing and overstating. We don't want to plan ahead, and prefer to "wing it".
The Moon in Sagittarius generally favors the following activities: Adventurous activities that involve "winging it", travel, higher education, starting publishing projects, advertising, sports, physical activity.
When the Moon is in Capricorn
We become aware of the need for structure and planning ahead. We also instinctively are aware of the limitations of time. We are motivated by a desire for success. Achievement and manifestation are most important to us now. We are resourceful and don't want to waste time, energy, or resources. This can be a very sober influence--even a depressing one. However, it can also be a productive time when we look reality in the eye.
The Moon in Capricorn generally favors the following activities: Long-term activities that yield slow but steady results, practical undertakings, career issues, making a business plan, practical investments.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Gemini The cycle which begins for you now will be marked by a more intense focus on mental and communicative activity than you may ever have experienced before. It’s a time of more involvement with other people, a time for gathering information, and a time when you’re apt to be more on the go than ever. There is likely to be an emphasis on reading, writing, studying, and all forms of exchanging information with others in the years ahead – and it will all serve as a path for self-discovery and personal development.
Mercury in Gemini A walking encyclopedia, a yen to know a little bit about everything (and everyone): these are the icons of the cycle you have just begun. Talking, writing, keeping a finger on the pulse of all that’s happening … this is a time of study and learning, a cycle of mental challenge, curiosity, and social/intellectual growth. Such things are an end in themselves rather than a means to any other end.
Mars in Cancer Defensive, aren’t we? With this new cycle getting underway, protecting and preserving you and yours takes on a higher than usual priority. A sensitivity to the needs and wants of others and an appreciation for their frailties (as well as your own) makes you more cautious and conservative … you pick your battles with care.
Jupiter in Pisces Mysticism, sensitivity to the needs of others, and an awareness of karma (the link between the present and the past): these are your paths to spiritual growth now. Addressing these issues brings you gain and satisfaction at many levels. A tolerance for differences, an understanding of human frailties and shortcomings.
Saturn in Aquarius Ideals are in for a period of testing, as a new phase begins in your life. What are principles worth, unless they are put into practice? That’s an important question for you now. This could mean you may be disappointed by causes you believe in – but if you abandon your principles, you lose.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone, and everyone in their place…
