Daily Trends
The FIRST QUARTER MOON occurs on Sunday, March 21, 2021, at 10:40 AM EDT.
On Sunday morning, the First Quarter Moon occurs when the Sun in Aries forms a square with the Moon in Cancer. There is a crisis theme surrounding any quarter Moon phase, as we feel compelled to take action. Shortly after, we are made aware of how our actions affect those close to us, perhaps through trial and error. If we began a project or initiative around the New Moon, it might now get off the ground and may face its first obstacles.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 1 degree and 12 minutes of Cancer forming a square with the Sun at 1 degree and 12 minutes of Aries, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 29 to 30 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) and 0 to 3 degrees of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) most significantly.

This week: The Sun is in Aries; Mercury is in Pisces; Venus is in Pisces to the 21st, and in Aries from the 21st forward; Mars is in Gemini.
The Sun is in Aries from March 20 to April 19. In Aries, the Sun is enthusiastic and spontaneous. We are motivated by the desire to conquer. We are more impulsive, and have the urge to initiate. Aries is a sign that bounces back quickly–there is little shame with Aries. It is brave and pioneering, and somewhat innocent. We are direct and rather uncomplicated in our needs, but we can also be short-sighted and lack the desire to plan ahead.
Mercury is in Pisces from March 15 to April 3rd. When Mercury is in Pisces, our thinking processes are more visual, intuitive, and imaginative. We are especially attuned to the world of emotion, which colors both our thoughts and our communication style. We guess well, express ourselves with imagery, and make decisions intuitively. We are more attracted to consciousness-raising information.
Venus is in Pisces from February 25 to March 21. Pisces never sees the world in black-and-white terms. Rather, Pisces sees all the colors of the rainbow. With the goddess of love in Pisces, our love is all-embracing, we are able to forgive and understand, we are seducible and seductive, and we show compassion to our partners. Venus in Pisces is tender and affectionate, although hard to reach nevertheless, as there is a longing for something that is hard to define and hard to satisfy. Borders and boundaries blur under Venus in Pisces. The shadow side of this position is allowing ourselves to be victimized or deluded, as well as evasiveness.
Venus is in Aries from March 21 to April 14. In Aries, love is spontaneous and direct. The chase is exhilarating to us under this fiery influence. We are bold, fresh, and a little impatient with matters of the heart. We don’t look back with Aries energy. We are not interested in saying sorry or dwelling on the past. It’s a brand new day! It’s time to make things work right now. Aries is known for a love of the chase and the conquest, but Aries love can be longstanding if it remains fresh. Aries is blunt–there’s no sugar-coating, which can sting, but rarely is Aries energy mean or petty. Saying it “like it is” is vital to Aries. Desires are strong and expressed spontaneously, enthusiastically, and directly. Aries prefers to seduce rather than be seduced, to chase rather than be chased.
Mars is in Gemini from March 3 to April 23. In Gemini, Mars is considerably more versatile and flexible–and substantially less determined and focused! Our interests become more diversified, possibly to the point of going off on so many tangents that we are scattered and ineffective. It’s an excellent time for strategizing and devising useful tactics to achieve our desires and goals. We’re resourceful and clever, and we know how to use words effectively–possibly using words as weapons! We’re quick on our feet and intelligent with plans and strategy.
Jupiter is in Aquarius from December 19th, 2020, to May 13, 2021, and then from July 28 to December 28, 2021. Read more about the Jupiter in Aquarius transit.
Saturn transits Aquarius from March 21 to July 1, 2020, and from December 17th, 2020, until March 7, 2023. Read about Saturn’s transit of Aquarius.
Uranus is in Taurus. Uranus transits Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and then from March 6th, 2019, until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle.
There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Pisces from February 25 to March 21. Like Aquarius, Pisces love is universal. However, Pisces draws no bounds in love. With Venus in Pisces, we have compassion (and perhaps attraction) for those who are left out, overlooked, or victimized. We are self-sacrificing, and we have a hard time setting up borders. The walls go down, we have a hard time saying no (especially if our compassion is engaged), but we are also prone to avoiding all that makes us feel uncomfortable.
Wishful thinking is one expression of Venus in Pisces. We can too easily believe what we want to believe. People can be hard to pin down, and love is hard to define under this influence. The shadow side of this position is allowing ourselves to be deluded, as well as evasiveness.
Venus is in Aries from March 21 to April 14. In Aries, love is spontaneous and direct. The chase is very exciting to us under this fiery influence. We are bold, fresh, and a little impatient with matters of the heart. We don’t look back with Aries energy. We are not interested in saying sorry or dwelling on the past. It’s a brand new day! It’s time to make things work right now.
Aries is known for a love of the chase and the conquest, but Aries love can be longstanding as long as it remains relatively fresh. Aries is blunt–there’s no sugar-coating with Aries. This can sting, but rarely is Aries energy mean or petty. Saying it “like it is” is vital to Aries. Desires are strong and expressed spontaneously, enthusiastically, and directly. Aries prefers to seduce rather than be seduced, to chase rather than be chased.
This week: On Thursday and Friday, we’re inclined to reach out and make connections, as well as start fresh in our relationships. We are re-awakened to the beauty of life around us, and new energy invigorates our close relationships. There can be more graciousness, diplomacy, and charm expressed now, and perhaps some superficiality. While we are proud of our ability to get along with others, we have some tendency to overdo or promiste too much.
On Saturday and Sunday (the 27-28), we have powerful energy with us for breaking through a problem area in relationships with the goal of repairing and healing. We are open to romantic feelings and more willing than usual to act upon them. This is a good time to make a resolution to repair, heal, and improve relationships.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Pisces A martyr complex, a love for the underdog, a search for your soul mate: such are the experiences associated with the new cycle you’re now just beginning. A yen for soul-stirring romance, a weakness for the weak, and a tendency to idealize people and relationships … very aesthetic, very other-worldly.
Venus in Aries Romance at the drop of a hat is part and parcel of the cycle you have just begun. Winning the hearts of others can be a challenge you’re eager to accept – and the thrill of the chase might be most of the fun. Is it the pursuit of happiness – or the happiness of pursuit?
Venus sextile Pluto March 17-18. Subtly powerful and uplifting time for romantic/sexual relationships. New insights into relationships and love. Strong attractions.
Venus conjunct the Sun March 25-26. Good relating is the focus, although some may find this energy superficial in that surface charm, diplomacy, and harmony is the goal. The pursuit of pleasure is emphasized.
Venus semi-square Jupiter March 26-27. We experience a strong desire for more pleasure in our lives, which can be excessive. Take care not to overstate your feelings or to set up unrealistic expectations in your partnerships.
Venus conjunct Chiron March 27-28. Healing energy is brought to love relationships, and a new cycle begins. A commitment-friendly transit. Love can heal old wounds. We are open to romantic feelings, and more willing to act upon them. This is a good time to make a resolution to repair, heal, and improve relationships.
Venus sextile Saturn March 29-30. Relationships are stabilized and steady, although feelings are expressed reservedly, formally, or sparingly. A new sense of realism in existing partnerships. Relationships begun under this influence possess a distinctly practical theme, almost as if the partnership is a business endeavor.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Sunday, March 21st, from 8:04 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Venus), until the Moon enters Cancer at 8:18 AM EDT (a brief period!).
VOC Moon on Tuesday, March 23rd, from 11:26 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to Pluto), until the Moon enters Leo at 5:56 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Thursday, March 25th, from 9:28 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Virgo at 11:26 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Saturday, March 27th, from 7:49 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Pluto), until the Moon enters Libra the next day, Sunday, March 28th, at 1:23 AM EDT.

Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
The Moon is waxing this week, which is considered favorable for new beginnings, with exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details).
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs on Saturday, March 27th, from approximately 12:10 PM to 7:45 PM EDT, while the Moon is in Virgo. This is not an ideal window because it happens after an opposition to Neptune and ends with a trine to Pluto.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Mercury sextile Uranus. This is an opportune time to attend meetings and other organized group activities, to communicate online, and to take part in activities involving computers, scientific projects, and metaphysics. Unexpected gains may be realized through such mediums. The intuition is strong, and insights seem to come from “out of the blue”. Original, creative ideas are easy to come by. We can take advantage of our ability to see things in a new light by breathing life into old projects or solving problems in new, creative ways. Varying our usual routine may be especially rewarding.
Mars trine Saturn. Work takes on definite shape, and we can see results from our efforts. This gives us a sense of responsibility and a feeling of directedness and purposefulness. This is a good time to temper our energy and to exercise better judgment. A good time to get and feel organized. Seniority is favored now. Traditional methods work, and thoroughness brings rewards.
Mars sesquiquadrature Pluto. Our desires are intense and difficult to satisfy under this influence. A tendency to bully and confront may dominate. Efforts to make changes could be thwarted, or power struggles emerge. The trick is to remain flexible and to develop strategies for achieving our goals.
Mercury sesquiquadrate Pluto. “Suspicious minds” characterize this transit, although if we harness the energy, we can develop strategies to get to the bottom of any matter. Mistrust, investigations. Some level of mental stress and pressure. A troubled mind.
Mercury square Mars. Impatience, hastiness, and disagreements characterize this transit. This is an unfavorable time for any kind of meeting, starting a new project, and business proposals. We can be irritable and say all the wrong things. We may be competing for the floor when it comes to expressing our ideas, thoughts, and opinions, making it difficult to engage in healthy dialogue. Mental agitation could dominate. We may stir up controversy with what we say, or how we say it.
Venus conjunct Sun. We are motivated by the desire to strike a balance in our relationships and in our environment. Smooth negotiations with others. Graciousness, diplomacy, charm, and some superficiality. This is a good period for social affairs, pleasure, amusement, and romance, all things considered.
Venus semi-square Jupiter. We might take great strides to get noticed. Avoid impulsive buying. Problems in our personal life likely won’t get resolved under this influence. Avoid hasty (or haughty!) decisions. We might overstate our feelings or promise more than we can deliver, and the tendency to overdo is strong.
Sun semi-square Jupiter. We may feel vague restlessness and discontent with life as it is. We want more, but perhaps too much. Overestimation, wastefulness, and exaggeration. Elevated moods, but unstable ones, as they may not be based on reality.

MARCH 21
The Moon continues its transit of Gemini until 8:18 AM EDT when it enters Cancer. The Cancer Moon encourages reconnected with our hearts and needs for nurture, security, safety, and familiarity. The Sun entered Aries yesterday, and Venus does so today. Until April 14th, with Venus in Aries, we are bold, fresh, and a little impatient when it comes to matters of the heart. We don’t look back–we’re not interested in saying sorry or dwelling on the past. Our desires are strong, and we express them spontaneously, enthusiastically, and directly. Our tastes are simple, but we can feel the need to fulfill them urgently in the weeks ahead. Also this morning, the First Quarter Moon occurs with the Aries Sun’s square to the Cancer Moon. There is a crisis theme surrounding any quarter Moon phase, as we feel compelled to take action. We can face obstacles now, and ideally, they’re motivating. Mercury forms a sextile to Uranus this evening, encouraging alternative approaches, new ideas, and scientific thinking. Intuition is strong, and insights are quick and exciting. Original, creative ideas come naturally. We can take advantage of this by solving problems in new, innovative ways. Varying our usual routine may be especially rewarding, and theories abound. On the other hand, a Mars-Saturn trine tonight favors discipline, moderation, tradition, and realism. This transit stimulates productivity, attention to traditional or tried and true methods, pacing ourselves, and temperance. We feel more directed and purposeful, and we tend to be thorough in our efforts.
The void Moon occurs from 8:04 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Venus), until the Moon enters Cancer at 8:18 AM EDT (a brief period!).
MARCH 22
The Moon spends the day in the sign of Cancer, and we seek familiarity, safety, and quiet. This transit encourages us to center ourselves and let go of overthinking. Home, family, and familiar settings or situations appeal more than usual now. The Cancer Moon is protective, insular, emotional, and devoted. We tend to respond to challenges or stress by retreating or withdrawing under the influence of a protective Cancer Moon. Feelings of belonging and safety are prime motivators. Our feelings run deep, making it an ideal time to get in touch with our emotions.
MARCH 23
A Pluto-Chiron quintile perfects today. With this long-term influence, we’re exceptionally creative and clever about solving dilemmas, particularly those that may have been holding us back from personal growth and development. The focus can be on the courage to go deep to repair and heal. It may help give us clues about how to integrate our personal and material pursuits. However, Mercury forms a square with Mars today, and both bodies form minor squares to Pluto. We can be impatient or belligerent if communications are not going over smoothly. We can find ourselves too quickly in disagreement with others, possibly due to ineffective or impatient communications. There can be some paranoid thinking with this combination, and attempts to push our story or perspective can be lessons in frustration. We should watch for hasty communications and skipping steps. We may be competing for the floor when expressing our ideas, thoughts, and opinions, making it difficult to engage in healthy dialogue. We tend to have a bigger investment in outcomes today, and tensions run high if we don’t get our way. It can be difficult to fully commit to what we choose to do, as much as we’d like to, without the distractions of Pluto-related worries, concerns, and challenges. While competition can be motivating at times, we might take it a little too seriously today. If we harness these energies and use them for good, we might develop intelligent strategies to get to the bottom of a matter. The Moon continues its transit of protective Cancer until 5:56 PM EDT, after which it moves through proud Leo.
The void Moon occurs from 11:26 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to Pluto), until the Moon enters Leo at 5:56 PM EDT.
MARCH 24
The Moon spends the day in Leo, and its trine to the Sun in Aries can produce free-spirited but cooperative energy early today. The Moon’s square to Uranus suggests some stubborn sticking with our methods, and its opposition to Saturn points to feeling blocked, but its sextile to Mars is warm, open, and courageous. Rules and limitations are harder to take today, but no boundaries can feel chaotic, and our challenge is to find a balance. Asserting our individuality, freedom, and originality today can seem to undermine our feeling of groundedness and security. Adjusting our plans may be in order. Differences in opinion can elevate our frustrations and may feel more problematic than usual, blocking progress or leading to delays.
MARCH 25
The Moon spends most of the day in demonstrative Leo. Its opposition to Jupiter suggests some tendency to overdo or overindulge. Otherwise, it’s a fine day for expressing ourselves and our affections. The Sun and Venus head into alignment, exact early tomorrow in the sign of Aries. It’s a time for reaching out and making connections, and starting fresh in our relationships. We are re-awakened to the beauty of life around us, and new energy invigorates our close relationships. The desire to strike a balance in our relationships or environment is a powerful motivator now. We’re expressing more graciousness, diplomacy, and charm, although not necessarily a lot of depth. We’re proud of our ability to harmonize and beautify. The Moon enters practical, intelligent Virgo at 11:26 PM EDT.
The void Moon occurs from 9:28 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Virgo at 11:26 PM EDT.
MARCH 26
Our relationships might boost our confidence or encourage us to do new things. We seek intense and satisfying projects, and our motivation to take charge of our lives is strong. Transits today can move us to pursue our desires and goals or connect with someone. Challenging ourselves or stepping out of our comfort zones gives us a sense of growth, improvement, and moving forward. The Moon spends the day in the sign of Virgo, and we seek to tie up loose ends and deal with routine matters. This Moon transit draws out our desire to heal, help, and fix. Impatience is a potential downfall tonight with a Moon-Mars square.
MARCH 27
Venus and the Sun form semi-squares to Jupiter today, and while we can be positive, we can go to excess. We want to grow, improve, and expand, and it may be necessary to push some boundaries now, but it’s best to do so gently. These transits stir restlessness that we might quench with a variation on our routine or schedule. It’s not a good day for starting something new, as we’re likely to lose interest in it later. We should watch that we aren’t idealizing what we don’t have or something new and fresh with people, situations, and things. We might want to put in effort towards causes and projects, or we can be inspired to bring new, unique, and exciting elements to our work. New techniques or options can emerge. The Moon spends the day in helpful Virgo.
The void Moon occurs from 7:49 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Pluto), until the Moon enters Libra the next day, Sunday, March 28th, at 1:23 AM EDT.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Gemini
Our basic instinct is to communicate, think, and learn under the influence of Moon in Gemini. We are motivated by a desire for variety and by an instinctive curiosity. The Moon in Gemini is light-hearted, breezy, spirited, and curious, but it can also be restless and fickle.
The Moon in Gemini generally favors the following activities: Mental and communicative actions, and more than one activity at once. Reading, learning, letters and emails, errands, writing, teaching, making connections, cafes, light and airy meetings, short trips.
When the Moon is in Cancer
The restlessness of the Gemini Moon gives way to an instinctive need for peace and quiet. A feeling of belonging and safety is what motivates us under this influence. The Moon feels right at home in the sign of Cancer, as it rules the sign. This Moon position has much healing potential. Although insular by nature, our feelings run deep, making it an ideal time to get in touch with what motivates us.
The Moon in Cancer generally favors the following activities: Domestic activities, those that involve awareness of personal needs. Home decor, family get-togethers.
When the Moon is in Leo
The Moon in Leo speaks to our "inner child". It's a warm, generous, whole-heartedly loving position. Pride keeps us from pettiness, but it can also prevent us from opening up and revealing how we are truly feeling. We are on stage, our feelings are grand, and we appreciate some drama in our lives. We are easily threatened by anything that seems to be impersonal. This is a time when we seek attention--when we want to stand out for our special qualities. It's a strong time for romance and any creative activity as well.
The Moon in Leo generally favors the following activities: Creative activities, activities involving children, generous undertakings, undertakings in which personal recognition is desired, and risk-taking.
When the Moon is in Virgo
We instinctually gravitate towards practical activities under the influence of a Virgo Moon. In an urge to set things right, we might easily find ourselves re-organizing and rethinking plans. Emotional satisfaction comes from solving problems, making order out of confusion, and helping others. Health matters might come into focus. We notice the smaller parts that make up the whole, and instead of letting nagging details bother us, we might work on ironing them out so that we can feel more confident moving ahead.
The Moon in Virgo generally favors the following activities: Mental pursuits, work activities, services, and routines. Activities that would benefit from tending to details.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Aries A new sense of self, a more assertive personal style, a more dynamic approach to life: these are the hallmarks of the cycle that begins for you now. Doubts fade into the background, and reserve is more and more a thing of the past. It’s time for action; your destiny is in your hands, rather than set apart. Full speed ahead (“and damn the torpedoes”) is your motto now, for better or for worse!
Mercury in Pisces Knowing things without knowing how you know them is typical at a time like this. The mystical, the universal, the eternal: these are the things that stir your curiosity. Call it psychic, call it deja vu … it can be there when you call on it, whatever you call it. (Remembering the little things might become more difficult, however: it’s tough to remember if you paid the electric bill when you’re more interested in the eternal verities.)
Mars in Gemini Learning, communicating, the exchange of ideas: these are the experiences you crave as a means to make your mark now, as a new phase begins in your life. You’re a person with something to say, and you realize that others have information that is essential to your goals. A time of much mental energy and initiative … perhaps with an element of conflict tossed in for good measure.
Jupiter in Aquarius Innovation, reform, and idealism are your paths to growth and gain now. New, futuristic ideas are part of this, but it’s more than that: putting them into practice is essential because this is much more than empty idealism. A break from the past, a willingness to flaunt convention.
Saturn in Aquarius Ideals are in for a period of testing, as a new phase begins in your life. What are principles worth, unless they are put into practice? That’s an important question for you now. This could mean you may be disappointed by causes you believe in – but if you abandon your principles, you lose.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone, and everyone in their place…
