The NEW MOON/SOLAR ECLIPSE occurs on Thursday, June 10th, 2021, at 6:52 AM EDT.
On Thursday morning, a New Moon occurs in the sign of Gemini. This New Moon is an Annular Solar Eclipse.
We can feel the effects of an eclipse up to six months after its occurrence. In the Mercury-ruled sign of Gemini, communications, daily interactions, and learning are a strong focus and subject to new beginnings.
This is a time to improve our communication skills by listening to others and enjoying others’ points of view, rather than doggedly seeking to find that one “answer”; taking the time to socialize and enjoy people–whether they are neighbors, friends, family, or acquaintances–just for the simple pleasure of doing so; re-evaluating our communication and social skills by questioning just how much we take in information, and communicate in a friendly, non-threatening manner; finding new venues for expressing ourselves and for learning by awakening our curiosity, and refining our writing, speaking, teaching, and listening skills; adding some mental variety to our lives; beginning a new project that involves writing and/or speaking, or that is in the communications field; and opening our minds to gathering more information and facts from our environment.
Some of Gemini’s “lessons” involve learning to be comfortable with people– putting them at ease and feeling at ease ourselves. Rather than communicating solely to prove a point, get our opinions across, or find an answer to problems, Gemini urges us to truly enjoy the moment. By consciously tuning in to positive Gemini energy, we learn that there isn’t always an answer, and we become comfortable with that idea!
As we learn to let ourselves truly listen, we learn through others simply by being curious, and we improve our social and communication skills simultaneously. We open our minds to more information, and we learn to truly enjoy the variety of different personalities around us. Finally, we become more aware of the superficiality of our communications.
Although Gemini is sometimes associated with superficial connections and communications, if we dig a little deeper, we’ll see there is much to learn from the light, two-way, and comfortable conversations that characterize the sign.
With the potent Gemini energy of the Solar Eclipse, we have the chance to make essential changes in our lives that will benefit us well beyond this Moon cycle. For some of us, circumstances are such that we need to pay more attention to these matters. Flaws in a fundamental system in our lives reveal themselves around the time of the eclipse, prompting us to redo or start fresh. Something ends for something else to start anew. We may be called to give up something to move forward into a new chapter in our lives.
Although the “new” may be unrecognizable, it is crucial to surrender to the unknown. Knowledge and diversity motivate us with the Sun in Gemini. We are more sociable, intellectual, and insatiably curious under this influence. On the other hand, we can scatter our energies due to this curiosity and awareness of our many options. We are more communicative and versatile, but we can also be unreliable.
The Solar Eclipse occurs close to the inferior conjunction of the Sun and Mercury, which marks the middle of the Mercury retrograde cycle. We’re looking back before moving forward. It’s also square Neptune, pointing to some unclear thinking and certain things left up in the air.
We can be wrestling with perceptions and expectations. It’s hard to see our path, but our discomfort with the past can be very real now, motivating new beginnings.
Note that this eclipse is one of several eclipses, running from June 2020 to December 2021, occurring along the Gemini/Sagittarius sign axis. It’s a further prompt to improve and change our communications and transportation systems. Read more about the eclipses.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 19 degrees and 47 minutes of Gemini, affecting people born with personal planets and points at 15 to 25 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) most significantly.
The above chart is excellent for visualizing the core, most important influences and the chart patterns.

This week: The Sun is in Gemini; Mercury is in Gemini; Venus is in Cancer; Mars is in Cancer until the 11th, when Mars enters Leo.
The Sun is in Gemini from May 20 to June 21. Knowledge and diversity motivate us with the Sun in Gemini. We are more sociable, intellectual, and insatiably curious under this influence. We tend to scatter our energies as a result of this curiosity and awareness of all of our options. We are more communicative and versatile, but we can also be unreliable.
Mercury is in Gemini from May 3 to July 11. When Mercury is in Gemini, we are especially communicative, curious, and sociable. Mercury feels right at home in Gemini, one of the signs that it rules. We tend to take more pleasure in gaining a superficial knowledge of many subjects rather than dig deep into any one topic. We are especially astute when it comes to arguing or making a point. We are attracted to wordplays, puns, and negotiations. We are easily distracted.
Venus is in Cancer from June 2 to 27. In Cancer, Venus is nurturing, protective and self-protective, cautious, and fertile. We experience many emotional ups and downs in love under this influence due to increased sensitivity and impressionability. We are tender, romantic, and attached. Cancer love is dedicated, warm, and devoted. We show our love through our devotion, care, and concern. We are affectionate and cuddly, and are at our best when we feel safe and secure.
Mars is in Cancer from April 23 to June 11. We pursue our interests ardently, but we avoid a direct approach to going after we want. As well, our goals and plans are subject to mood swings and vacillations. We are defensive rather than overtly aggressive. Much of what we do depends on our mood of the moment.
Mars is in Leo from June 11 to July 29. In Leo, Mars is proud, self-confident, and grand. We are spirited and have grand goals. We go after what we want in a direct, self-assured manner, desiring dramatic results. We prefer not to worry about details, and take the least complicated route to our goals. The sex drive is strong, and passion for life is high.
Jupiter is in Aquarius from December 19th, 2020, to May 13, 2021, and then from July 28 to December 28, 2021. Read more about the Jupiter in Aquarius transit. Jupiter is in Pisces from May 13th to July 28th, when it retreats into Aquarius. Jupiter returns to Pisces on December 28th, 2021. There will be another part to this 3-part act in 2022! Read more about the Jupiter in Pisces transit.
Saturn transits Aquarius from March 21 to July 1, 2020, and from December 17th, 2020, until March 7, 2023. Read about Saturn’s transit of Aquarius.
Uranus is in Taurus. Uranus transits Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and then from March 6th, 2019, until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle.
There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Cancer from June to 27. We treat lovers with sympathy and tenderness, providing the emotional nurturing that they need. We tend to “play it safe” when it comes to relationships. Love and devotion are most important to us, and provide us with a sense of inner security. We seek a deep love in which we can merge souls and personalities with our lover. We are quite devoted to our partners, and we seek such devotion in return.
However, we could also become possessive, manipulative, and stifling. Familiarity is more important to us now. Our fear of rejection is overdeveloped, and we offer our hearts cautiously as a result. We pay more attention to our lovers’ feelings than their words. We feel threatened if a lover acts in an impersonal, overly independent, or detached manner. Safe and solid relationships are more appealing. Romantic and emotional hurts are very hard to forget.
This week: On Saturday, the 12th, there can be some awkward energy for relationships. We may say the wrong things, and we’re particularly sensitive.
However, we’re opening to new experiences and ways of relating, and we’re more accepting of differences and individuality. It’s a good time to embrace new ways to have fun and enjoy ourselves and our relationships. Friendship in love relationships becomes more important. We can be attracted to people who are especially unique, or what makes a person different or special is particularly noticeable and intriguing now. We’re loosening up, and unexpected opportunities for enjoyment or connections can emerge. It’s not the warmest period for expressing affection, but we’re learning about one another and our boundaries.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Cancer Mothering (or being mothered), sympathy, a yearning to put down roots, and a fondness for things that have stood the test of time – these are some of the hallmarks of the phase that now begins in your life. Romantic and social experiences, as well as artistic tastes, will show evidence of these factors.
Venus trine Jupiter June 2-3. Harmony and good will reign under this influence. Expansive feelings in love, and a feeling that anything is possible if we set our sights high enough, are experienced now. We are friendly, big-hearted, sociable, and optimistic. It is easy to make social contacts under this influence. Cheerfulness, trust, and confidence in love and social matters.
Venus square Chiron June 12. Not a commitment-friendly transit. We are somewhat fearful of investing ourselves emotionally in a relationship.
Venus sextile Uranus June 12-13. We lose our fear of taking risks at this time, and we happily embrace all that is new, unusual, and out-of-the-ordinary with regards to romantic involvements. We are ready to experiment, but not necessarily ready to commit.
Venus quincunx Saturn June 12-13. A feeling that we may not be able to express our affections, or that our affections will not be received well, can undermine us in our relationships. Fear of rejection, emotional distancing, and over-sensitivity.
Venus sesquiquadrate Jupiter June 16. We experience a strong desire for more pleasure in our lives, which can be excessive. Take care not to overstate your feelings or to set up unrealistic expectations in your partnerships.
Venus parallel the Sun June 17-18. A strong desire for harmony and comfort fill us now. We may be moved to express our affections.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Saturday, June 5th, from 6:48 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Mars), until the Moon enters Taurus the next day, Sunday, June 6th, at 1:47 AM EDT.
VOC Moon on Tuesday, June 8th, from 11:08 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Mars), until the Moon enters Gemini at 2:48 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Thursday, June 10th, from 1:38 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Neptune), until the Moon enters Cancer the next day, Friday, June 11th, at 3:23 AM EDT.

JUNE 6
The Moon continues its transit of Aries until 1:47 AM EDT when it moves into Taurus. We’re less interested in what’s new and more intent on settling in. We crave comfort and predictability–the Taurus Moon brings us down to earth. We seek satisfaction, but we’re happy to create it with what we already have. We tend to connect to a higher purpose and may enjoy a feeling of well-being today with the Moon’s harmony with Jupiter and Venus. We’re also demonstrating increased tolerance and cooperation.
The void Moon continues until 1:47 AM EDT when it enters Taurus.
JUNE 7
The Moon spends the day in Taurus, aligning with Uranus and forming a square with Saturn this morning. We’re seeking some stability and comfort. However, we may be tired of doing “comfort” in the same ways, and it can be time to alter our routines. Adjusting our plans may be in order, and striking a balance between convention and innovation is the challenge. Ideally, we take the best of the traditional and progressive worlds and make updates that improve our lives. As the day progresses, we might aim to savor the moments and enjoy gentle motivation to care for those things most dear to us.
JUNE 8
With Venus in creative aspect to Saturn today, we gravitate to people who demonstrate stability or dedication, and we more readily appreciate simple pleasures, activities, and disciplines. Saving money or resources can be attractive and pleasing today. The Moon continues its transit of Taurus until 2:48 PM EDT, harmonizing with Neptune, Pluto, and then Mars as it does. We’re likely to find it easy to express and satisfy our increased needs for security and comfort today. We’re persistent, determined, and practical. When the Moon ends its transit of Taurus, it moves into communicative Gemini. The Gemini Moon, which will last until early on Friday, encourages us to diversify, put our feelers out, and pick up new ideas or tips. We’re more interactive and versatile with this Moon, although we can also be on edge.
The void Moon occurs from 11:08 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Mars), until the Moon enters Gemini at 2:48 PM EDT.
JUNE 9
The Moon spends the day in the sign of Gemini, and we’re communicative and curious. The Moon aligns with the North Node, and while we want to grow and improve ourselves, the Moon is Balsamic, and it’s best to reflect, take in, and make time for connecting with our intuition before pushing forward. We likely need some time to process and digest recent experiences. Tomorrow’s New Moon is a Solar Eclipse, and it’s likely to prompt a strong desire or need for new beginnings, particularly with communications, learning, connecting, and commuting. We may feel lacking or discontent in these areas before we find a way to begin fresh.
JUNE 10
This morning’s New Moon is a Solar Eclipse. In the Mercury-ruled sign of Gemini, communications, daily interactions, and learning are a strong focus and subject to new beginnings. This is a time to improve our communication skills by listening and enjoying different points of view, rather than doggedly seeking to find that one “answer.” We’re finding new venues for expressing ourselves and learning. Refining our writing, speaking, teaching, and listening skills or adding some mental variety to our lives can be in focus. Flaws in fundamental systems in our lives reveal themselves around the time of the eclipse, prompting us to redo or start fresh. Something ends for something else to start anew. This Solar Eclipse occurs close to the inferior conjunction of the Sun and Mercury, also happening today. This conjunction marks the middle of the Mercury retrograde cycle. We’re looking back before moving forward. Thie eclipse is also square Neptune, pointing to some unclear thinking and certain things left up in the air. We can be wrestling with perceptions and expectations. It’s hard to see our path, but our discomfort with the past can be very real now, motivating new beginnings. This eclipse is one of several, running from June 2020 to December 2021, occurring along the Gemini/Sagittarius sign axis. It’s a further prompt to improve and change our communications and transportation systems. The inferior conjunction of Mercury and the Sun tonight gives us a unique window into the past as it might impact our future. We begin looking at problems or issues from a new perspective and with a new understanding. Significant new ideas are born at this time, and they’re likely to have real staying power or importance in our lives. What we say or write now has an impact, for better or for worse! However, we may not have all the facts necessary to come to a definite conclusion, and we might later have to revise plans or decisions. The Moon spends the day in Gemini.
The void Moon occurs from 1:38 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Neptune), until the Moon enters Cancer tomorrow, Friday, June 11th, at 3:23 AM EDT.
JUNE 11
The Moon ends its transit of Gemini at 3:23 AM EDT today when it enters Cancer. A beautiful, although transient, Moon-Jupiter trine occurs this morning in Water signs, encouraging us to embrace and honor our feelings. The Cancer Moon is warm, protective, and careful. Mars enters the bold sign of Leo today, however, and until July 29th, this transit draws out our proud, self-confident, and grand side. We go after what we want in a direct, self-assured manner during this cycle, desiring dramatic results. We prefer not to worry about details and seek the most straightforward route to our goals. This cycle encourages our spirited, courageous, and ardent natures–our passion for life runs high.
The void Moon continues today until 3:23 AM EDT when the Moon enters Cancer.
JUNE 12
The Moon spends the day in the sign of Cancer, encouraging us to center ourselves and let go of overthinking. Home, family, and familiar settings or situations appeal more than usual now. While today’s square between Venus and Chiron can point to blocks to intimacy and insecurities, Venus is heading into a sextile to Uranus, bringing us (gently) out of our shells and encouraging our bolder, more innovative natures, socially speaking. We are most interested in all that is new, unusual, and out-of-the-ordinary with regards to romantic involvements, entertainment or pleasures, and financial undertakings. We may be experimenting, improvising, and trying on new ways of relating to others and expressing ourselves. We may be discovering alternative ways to make (or spend) money. We’re freer with our feelings, although a little detached, and we find beauty in the unfamiliar or uncommon.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Aries
We're motivated by a strong desire to start fresh. A gut instinct to begin something new is with us now, as well as the gumption to do so. Our pioneering impulses are strong, and we feel energetic, spontaneous, and enthusiastic. We may also be tactless and impulsive now. Excess energy is best channeled into physical activity.
People can be more self-motivated and also self-focused while the Moon is in Aries. It's a competitive rather than cooperative time. Accidents and tempers flaring are more likely than usual. This period is one of more personal courage.
The Moon in Aries generally favors the following activities: Quick actions that yield immediate results. Undertakings that involve the self and the personality. (Staying power may be lacking). Self-assertion, taking on challenges, beginning short-term projects.
When the Moon is in Taurus
We are motivated by the desire for serenity, security, peace, and comfort. The Moon is at her most sensual and constant in Taurus. Our basic impulses are to relax, resist change, and "stop to smell the roses." Life slows down a little, and we get comfortable. We may also be inclined to stubbornness and materialism under this influence.
While the Moon is in Taurus, people can be emotionally constant but inflexible. It's a time of stronger focus on personal needs and comfort levels, and a period of more common sense and attention to practical matters.
The Moon in Taurus generally favors the following activities: Substantial and material actions that yield solid results. Financial activities, and those involving personal possessions, applying for a loan, beginning a potentially long-term relationship, music, home decor.
When the Moon is in Gemini
Our basic instinct is to communicate, think, and learn under the influence of Moon in Gemini. We are motivated by a desire for variety and by an instinctive curiosity. The Moon in Gemini is light-hearted, breezy, spirited, and curious, but it can also be restless and fickle.
The Moon in Gemini generally favors the following activities: Mental and communicative actions, and more than one activity at once. Reading, learning, letters and emails, errands, writing, teaching, making connections, cafes, light and airy meetings, short trips.
When the Moon is in Cancer
The restlessness of the Gemini Moon gives way to an instinctive need for peace and quiet. A feeling of belonging and safety is what motivates us under this influence. The Moon feels right at home in the sign of Cancer, as it rules the sign. This Moon position has much healing potential. Although insular by nature, our feelings run deep, making it an ideal time to get in touch with what motivates us.
The Moon in Cancer generally favors the following activities: Domestic activities, those that involve awareness of personal needs. Home decor, family get-togethers.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Gemini The cycle which begins for you now will be marked by a more intense focus on mental and communicative activity than you may ever have experienced before. It’s a time of more involvement with other people, a time for gathering information, and a time when you’re apt to be more on the go than ever. There is likely to be an emphasis on reading, writing, studying, and all forms of exchanging information with others in the years ahead – and it will all serve as a path for self-discovery and personal development.
Mercury in Gemini A walking encyclopedia, a yen to know a little bit about everything (and everyone): these are the icons of the cycle you have just begun. Talking, writing, keeping a finger on the pulse of all that’s happening … this is a time of study and learning, a cycle of mental challenge, curiosity, and social/intellectual growth. Such things are an end in themselves rather than a means to any other end.
Mars in Cancer Defensive, aren’t we? With this new cycle getting underway, protecting and preserving you and yours takes on a higher than usual priority. A sensitivity to the needs and wants of others and an appreciation for their frailties (as well as your own) makes you more cautious and conservative … you pick your battles with care.
Mars in Leo The thrill of the chase, the smell of the greasepaint, the roar of the crowd: that’s what gets your juices flowing now that you’ve entered a new cycle. To be appreciated, to be admired (adored, even) – that’s what you crave. It’s a time of creativity, drama, and passion; a time when grabbing the spotlight and stealing the scene gives you a thrill. Is winning everything? No – but it’s way ahead of whatever comes in second!
Jupiter in Pisces Mysticism, sensitivity to the needs of others, and an awareness of karma (the link between the present and the past): these are your paths to spiritual growth now. Addressing these issues brings you gain and satisfaction at many levels. A tolerance for differences, an understanding of human frailties and shortcomings.
Saturn in Aquarius Ideals are in for a period of testing, as a new phase begins in your life. What are principles worth, unless they are put into practice? That’s an important question for you now. This could mean you may be disappointed by causes you believe in – but if you abandon your principles, you lose.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone, and everyone in their place…
