June 4-10, 2023

The Last Quarter Moon phase points to a crisis of consciousness of sorts. After basking in the awareness symbolized by the full light of the Moon at the time of last week’s Full Moon, we disperse our knowledge and come to a point when we need to sort out what works for us–and what doesn’t–in preparation for next week’s New Moon, when something new is born once again.

This is not the best time to start a major project, as the decreasing light of the Moon symbolizes descent into unconsciousness. It’s time to begin finishing up the details of what was conceived at the last New Moon. We might consider our recent revelations and process what they mean to us.

Last Quarter Moon Chart: June 10, 2023

This phase of the Moon occurs at 19 degree and 40 minutes of Pisces square the Sun at the same degree of Gemini, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 18 to 22 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) most significantly.

The FULL MOON occurs on Saturday, June 3rd, 2023, at 11:42 PM EDT.

On Saturday night, a Full Moon occurs when the Sun in Gemini forms an opposition to the Moon in Sagittarius. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time – a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.

We become more fully aware of what has been lacking or missing in our lives, particularly related to learning, adventure, spirited living, communicating, sharing, and commuting.

The Gemini-Sagittarius polarity is a mental axis, where Gemini represents the “lower mind” and Sagittarius represents the “higher mind.” The Gemini Sun encourages us to think logically, while the Sagittarius Moon persuades us to intuit and to think in a broader manner. Sagittarius symbolizes the quest for meaning and ideas that expand upon the “here and now.” Gemini is quite comfortable in its immediate environment or neighborhood, while Sagittarius stimulates us to venture beyond it.

Neglecting either end of the axis will surely backfire on us. Ideally, a balance should be found between the two energies, and this is what the Full Moon invites us to do.

This Full Moon is about communication, attitude, and sense of adventure. Something has been building inside of us, and now is the time when the energy of the cosmos fairly demands that we let it out. Over the next two weeks, we will discover what this means for us. For now, we can’t sit on our feelings–we need to express them.

The lunation illuminates this conflict between logic and intuition/faith. With the Moon full and bright in the sky, symbolic “illumination” occurs in our own lives. However, these new feelings and revelations are emotional ones, as there is a sense of emotions bursting forth into our consciousness. It’s time to express ourselves and to let things out of our systems.

Of course, we might want to exercise some care while doing so, knowing that what is coming out of us is fresh, unrefined, and not particularly rational as yet.

This phase of the Moon occurs at 13 degrees and 18 minutes of Sagittarius opposite the Sun at the same degree of Gemini, affecting people with personal planets and points at 9 to 17 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) most significantly.

This week: The Sun is in Gemini; Mercury is in Taurus; Venus is in Cancer to the 5th and in Leo onward; Mars is in Leo.

The Sun is in Gemini from May 21-June 21. Knowledge and diversity motivate us with the Sun in Gemini. We are more sociable, intellectual, and insatiably curious under this influence. We tend to scatter our energies due to this curiosity and awareness of all of our options. We are more communicative and versatile, but we can also be unreliable.

Gemini represents duality and mediation. Gemini’s energy is intelligent, optimistic, observant, and adaptable. It’s skeptical, ready to consider alternate ways of thinking. We’re prepared to trade, share, exchange, pass on news, teach, guide, and learn.

We gather information during the Sun-in-Gemini cycle, and we benefit from this transit’s objectivity. We’re quick-witted, cheerful, engaging, and we easily adapt, observe, and listen–it’s a clever and crafty influence.

On the downside, we can be gossipy, overly intellectual, or too rational when a softer touch would be more appropriate. As we relay and process information, we could be living too much in our heads, disconnected from what’s in our hearts.

Mercury is in Taurus from April 3-June 11. [This transit is longer than usual due to Mercury’s retrograde in Taurus from April 21 to May 14.] When Mercury is in Taurus, our thinking is down to earth, solid, and grounded. Common sense reigns over more fanciful thinking. We communicate more deliberately under this influence, and our minds are oriented to the world of the five senses. We prefer the tried and true rather than new ways of thinking.

Attention to one thing at a time can simplify our lives, but we may be in danger of narrow, overly conservative, or rigid thinking. It’s a time of practical intelligence and comfortably-paced decisions and thought processes. We’re capable of (and content with) rote, routine, deliberate, or monotonous work and methods.

Venus is in Cancer from May 7-June 5. In Cancer, Venus is nurturing, protective and self-protective, cautious, and fertile. We experience many emotional ups and downs in love under this influence due to our increased sensitivity and impressionability. We are tender, romantic, and attached. We could be clingy or sulky during this period.

Cancer love is dedicated, warm, and devoted. We show our love through our devotion, care, and concern. We are affectionate and cuddly, and are at our best when we feel safe and secure. We also want to make our loved ones feel safe and comfortable.

It’s a good cycle for collecting and money related to real estate, accommodation, food, coins, silver, or antiques. We enjoy homey, familiar pastimes and art and simple pleasures.

Cautious with our feelings, we are not always confident about boldly trying or sharing new things during this cycle. However, we do whatever we can to make our loved ones feel special. Our memories are long, and we can be very sentimental.

Venus is in Leo from June 5-October 8. [This transit is longer than usual due to the retrograde of Venus in Leo from July 22nd to September 3rd.] Love is magnificent and grand while Venus is in Leo. We take pride in love, and we are generous with our money as well. This is a warmhearted, teasing, expressive, proud, and extravagant placement for Venus. Love is a bit of a game–a game that is perpetual, as Venus in Leo is forever stuck in the romance stage of a relationship. We feed on attention, acknowledgement, validation, and adoration.

Venus in Leo loves to be adored, pampered, and admired. Pride and passion are hallmarks of this cycle. We have a strong ego investment in our love lives during this period. The negative expression of this placement is overstating our feelings simply for the effect, as well as extravagance.

The Venus-in-Leo cycle can be a strong or profitable time for contests, lotteries, parties, recreation, drama, adornment, jewelry, costumes, art dealing, and all things golden. Generosity and warmth contribute to our ability to draw in the right resources. We can have a compelling desire to stand out, be remarkable, and feel special during this period.

Mars is in Leo from May 20-July 10. In Leo, Mars is proud, self-confident, and grand. We are spirited and have grand goals. We go after what we want in a direct, self-assured manner, desiring dramatic results. We prefer not to worry about details, and take the least complicated route to our goals. The sex drive is strong, and passion for life is high.

Mars in Leo can awaken a competitive spirit or drive. We’re more willing to take risks to get what we want. We also tend to make a splash, and we want to be in the driver’s seat. This transit is passionate, ardent, and dramatic. We seek to appear strong and prefer to be in the lead or the center of attention. We can be particularly angry if we feel disrespected or in an undignified position.

Jupiter is in Taurus.

Uranus transits Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and then from March 6th, 2019, until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. Above all, we’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle.

There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. In general, we’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money, are likely. Our income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.

Romance & Relationships

Venus is in Cancer from May 7-June 5. We treat lovers with sympathy and tenderness, providing the emotional nurturing that they need. We tend to “play it safe” when it comes to relationships. Love and devotion are most important to us, and provide us with a sense of inner security. We seek a deep love in which we can merge souls and personalities with our lover. We are quite devoted to our partners, and we seek such devotion in return.

However, we could also become possessive, manipulative, and stifling. Familiarity is more important to us now. Our fear of rejection is overdeveloped, and we offer our hearts cautiously as a result. We pay more attention to our lovers’ feelings than their words. We feel threatened if a lover acts in an impersonal, overly independent, or detached manner. Safe and solid relationships are more appealing. Romantic and emotional hurts are very hard to forget.

This week: On Sunday and Monday, envy, jealousy, and possessiveness can enter the picture if we let fear drive our behavior. Buried fears and resentments in our relationships can bubble up and demand attention. It’s a period of intense feelings, as well as possible emotional distress and tension caused by romantic troubles or social manipulation. Fears of betrayal may get the best of us.

However, it’s a strong time for getting in touch with problem areas that may have been undermining us and our relationships. Although this can be purging, troubles can emerge in disruptive ways and mindfulness can help. It might be difficult to get close to one another under these conditions, but with self-honesty, it can be a good time to get in touch with our vulnerability.

On Thursday, the 8th, social niceties go by the wayside, and we may be working at cross-purposes with our relationships or relationship goals. There can be a lack of agreement, dissatisfaction stirred up, and a sense that our relationships are preventing our growth.

On Saturday, the 10th, we may be going overboard as we seek more meaning or new horizons. Watch for overcommitting or overstating.

Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:

Venus in Cancer Mothering (or being mothered), sympathy, a yearning to put down roots, and a fondness for things that have stood the test of time – these are some of the hallmarks of the phase that now begins in your life. Romantic and social experiences, as well as artistic tastes, will show evidence of these factors.

Venus in Leo Romance becomes an end in itself as a new cycle begins for you. It marks a time when love, creativity, and self-expression satisfy a deep yearning to be appreciated and admired – needed, even. A flashy, flirty, stylish splash of color and warmth.

Venus trine Neptune June 2. We perceive romantic situations as if they were “designed” just for us. A magical, romantic time. The pleasures of life are experienced fully. Romance is highly favored. We see the very best in people now, and this eases our interactions and takes the pressure off in personal relationships.

Venus opposition Pluto June 4-5. This is a period of intense feelings, as well as possible emotional distress and tension caused by romantic troubles or social manipulation. An experience of being used or abused physically, emotionally or sexually may cause us suffering or disappointment. Sexually driven emotions are likely now. Fears of betrayal may get the best of us.

Venus square North Node June 8. Social niceties go by the wayside, and we may be working at cross-purposes with our relationships or relationship goals. There can be a lack of agreement, dissatisfaction stirred up, and a sense that our relationships are preventing our growth.

Venus square Jupiter June 10-11. We experience a strong desire for more pleasure in our lives, which can be excessive. Take care not to overstate your feelings or to set up unrealistic expectations in your partnerships. As well, take what your partner says with a grain of salt. There is no malicious intent involved, but feelings of elation can cloud our judgment, and we can promise more than we can deliver.

Venus quincunx Saturn June 12-13. A feeling that we may not be able to express our affections, or that our affections will not be received well, can undermine us in our relationships. Fear of rejection, emotional distancing, and over-sensitivity.

Venus semi-square the Sun June 12-13. Irritations that seem to stem from others could be the reflection of our own inner uneasiness. Do your best to control yearnings for more and search for a creative solution for your inner dissatisfaction.

Venus parallel Mercury June 14-15. A congenial time when we appreciate diplomacy and socialize more readily.

Venus sesquiquadrate Neptune June 19. Romantic confusion as well as relationship ups and downs. Self-deceptions may come to light now.

The Moon & Timing

The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects.

The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).

Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart to determine the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass.

The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.

Mercury conjunct Uranus. The ability to grasp intellectual concepts is high right now. Our intuition is spot-on, and we tend to have the right idea at the right moment. The senses may be overloaded, to the point that we are scatter-brained, impulsive, nervous, or impatient. If channeled well, however, our ideas are inventive, original, progressive, and unbiased.

Venus opposition Pluto. An intense emotional or sexual attraction, a very revealing, intimate encounter, or a powerful desire to be close to and share our deepest feelings with someone is very likely now. Emotions and issues in a close relationship that have been brewing beneath the surface for quite awhile come to the surface at this time, possibly in a very disruptive way. All of our relationships intensify and we need to be aware of a tendency to act in a rather compulsive, demanding way towards others. This is an “all or nothing” energy. Manipulative behavior, fear of betrayal, and power struggles are possible.

Sun sesquiquadrate Pluto. A tendency to want to control our lives through some form of manipulation is strong during this influence. Meeting with obstacles in our paths, however, can force us into the position of using all of our resources to fight back, and we can discover resources we never knew we had in the process.

Mercury sextile Neptune. Intuition runs high; we are more sensitive artistically; imagination is stirred; and we have an increased appreciation for subtleties. We are inspired and we are able to inspire others with our words.

Sun sextile Chiron. An opportunity to find a sense of purpose or a “mission” arises now, increasing our confidence. The desire to learn and grow through experiences and through others is strong. Problem solving is favored.

We’re not content merely recycling old ideas or performing repetitive processes; we are quick to latch onto progressive approaches and methods. We might stir things up or shock others with our opinions, ideas, and communications. Our senses may overload to the point that we are scatterbrained, impulsive, or impatient. However, if channeled well, we can arrive at especially inventive, original, progressive, and unbiased ideas and methods.

The Moon continues its transit of Sagittarius only until 3:32 AM EDT, after which it visits ambitious, practical Capricorn. The Capricorn Moon turns our attention to our goals and plans. Venus heads into the sign of Leo today, where it will visit until October 8th. Venus spends many months longer than usual in Leo due to its upcoming retrograde cycle (from July 22nd to September 3rd). During its extended stay in the sign, we take pride in love and are generous with our money. It’s a warmhearted, teasing, expressive, proud, and extravagant placement for Venus. We feed on attention, acknowledgment, validation, and adoration. We have a substantial ego investment in our love lives during this period. However, we should watch for extravagance and overstating our feelings simply for the effect. The Venus-in-Leo cycle can be a solid or profitable time for contests, lotteries, parties, recreation, drama, adornment, jewelry, costumes, art dealing, and all things golden. Generosity and warmth contribute to our ability to draw in the right resources. We can have a compelling desire to stand out, be remarkable, and feel special during this period.

As playful and generous as this cycle can be, Venus opposes Pluto today. With this tense transit, we’re confronting areas of our lives where we might be holding onto something too tightly for fear of losing it. Confrontations or events can bring complicated feelings and fears to a head. We may make uncomfortable discoveries now, and while some of these can ultimately help us, we may be pushing too far for answers. We should watch for manipulative behavior arising from insecurities or fear of betrayal.

JUNE 6

The Moon spends the day in Capricorn, and we strive for increased self-sufficiency. We’re incredibly goal-oriented and particularly aware of our responsibilities and performance. Our judgment is sound, and practical matters are a significant focus. A creative aspect between Venus and Saturn inclines us to maneuver and plan tastefully. We may be showcasing our reliability and loyalty.

JUNE 7

The Moon leaves Capricorn at 4:42 AM EDT when it moves into Aquarius. Friends, community, groups, causes, and happiness goals can be in stronger focus now. The Moon opposes Venus and later Mars, and we can be temperamental. Its square to Jupiter also inclines us to overdo or overshoot. These transits excite our passions, although we may feel less in control of them than usual. We should watch for impulsive decisions and actions. However, we’re heading toward a Venus-Uranus quintile, and we notice and appreciate the more unique elements of people, situations, and projects later today.

The Moon is void from 12:40 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Neptune), until the Moon enters Aquarius at 4:42 AM EDT.

JUNE 8

We’re attracted to the unique, extraordinary, and uncommon with today’s Aquarius Moon. Just a splash of emotional detachment can be refreshing today. However, Venus forms a square to the North Node of the Moon, pointing to the possibility of a general lack of agreement, dissatisfaction, or a sense that our relationships are working counter to our growth. It can be challenging to make a decision that we’re content with today. With the Moon’s square to Uranus this afternoon, rules and limitations are hard to take.

JUNE 9

The Moon continues in objective Aquarius until 6:15 AM EDT, when it moves into tolerant, sensitive Pisces. Mercury forms a sextile to Neptune today, stirring our imagination. With this transit in play, we can experience a sense of knowing and understanding with minimal explanation or instruction. Intuition is highlighted or awakened, and we creatively apply it to practical matters. We appreciate subtleties as they aid our understanding of others and situations. We are more readily inspired and might inspire others with our words. There is psychic openness in our interactions, and our communications are notably gentler or more compassionate.

We’re also heading toward a Sun-Chiron sextile, exact early tomorrow, further enhancing our interactions and problem-solving skills.
