Daily Trends
The FIRST QUARTER MOON occurs on Thursday, June 17th, 2021, at 11:54 PM EDT.
Late Thursday, the First Quarter Moon occurs when the Sun in Gemini forms a square with the Virgo Moon. There is a crisis theme surrounding any quarter Moon phase, as we feel compelled to take action. Shortly after, we become aware of how our actions affect those close to us, perhaps through trial and error. Whatever project or initiative we began around the New Moon is now off the ground, and it may face its first obstacles.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 27 degrees and 9 minutes of Virgo square the Sun at 27 degrees and 9 minutes of Gemini, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 25 to 29 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) most significantly.

This week: The Sun is in Gemini; Mercury is in Gemini; Venus is in Cancer; Mars is in Leo.
The Sun is in Gemini from May 20 to June 21. Knowledge and diversity motivate us with the Sun in Gemini. We are more sociable, intellectual, and insatiably curious under this influence. We tend to scatter our energies as a result of this curiosity and awareness of all of our options. We are more communicative and versatile, but we can also be unreliable.
Mercury is in Gemini from May 3 to July 11. When Mercury is in Gemini, we are especially communicative, curious, and sociable. Mercury feels right at home in Gemini, one of the signs that it rules. We tend to take more pleasure in gaining a superficial knowledge of many subjects rather than dig deep into any one topic. We are especially astute when it comes to arguing or making a point. We are attracted to wordplays, puns, and negotiations. We are easily distracted.
Venus is in Cancer from June 2 to 27. In Cancer, Venus is nurturing, protective and self-protective, cautious, and fertile. We experience many emotional ups and downs in love under this influence due to increased sensitivity and impressionability. We are tender, romantic, and attached. Cancer love is dedicated, warm, and devoted. We show our love through our devotion, care, and concern. We are affectionate and cuddly, and are at our best when we feel safe and secure.
Mars is in Leo from June 11 to July 29. In Leo, Mars is proud, self-confident, and grand. We are spirited and have grand goals. We go after what we want in a direct, self-assured manner, desiring dramatic results. We prefer not to worry about details, and take the least complicated route to our goals. The sex drive is strong, and passion for life is high.
Jupiter is in Aquarius from December 19th, 2020, to May 13, 2021, and then from July 28 to December 28, 2021. Read more about the Jupiter in Aquarius transit. Jupiter is in Pisces from May 13th to July 28th, when it retreats into Aquarius. Jupiter returns to Pisces on December 28th, 2021. There will be another part to this 3-part act in 2022! Read more about the Jupiter in Pisces transit.
Saturn transits Aquarius from March 21 to July 1, 2020, and from December 17th, 2020, until March 7, 2023. Read about Saturn’s transit of Aquarius.
Uranus is in Taurus. Uranus transits Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and then from March 6th, 2019, until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle.
There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Cancer from June 2 to 27. We treat lovers with sympathy and tenderness, providing the emotional nurturing that they need. We tend to “play it safe” when it comes to relationships. Love and devotion are most important to us, and provide us with a sense of inner security. We seek a deep love in which we can merge souls and personalities with our lover. We are quite devoted to our partners, and we seek such devotion in return.
However, we could also become possessive, manipulative, and stifling. Familiarity is more important to us now. Our fear of rejection is overdeveloped, and we offer our hearts cautiously as a result. We pay more attention to our lovers’ feelings than their words. We feel threatened if a lover acts in an impersonal, overly independent, or detached manner. Safe and solid relationships are more appealing. Romantic and emotional hurts are very hard to forget.
This week: On Sunday, the 13th, there can be some awkward energy for relationships. We may say the wrong things, and we’re particularly sensitive.
However, we’re opening to new experiences and ways of relating, and we’re more accepting of differences and individuality. It’s a good time to embrace new ways to have fun and enjoy ourselves and our relationships. Friendship in love relationships becomes more important. We can be attracted to people who are especially unique, or what makes a person different or special is particularly noticeable and intriguing now. We’re loosening up, and unexpected opportunities for enjoyment or connections can emerge. It’s not the warmest period for expressing affection, but we’re learning about one another and our boundaries.
On Wednesday, the 16th, we’re seeking a little more meaning or excitement from our relationships, pastimes, and pleasures. Our humor is strong, we may be inspired by our interactions, and we’re open to change. However, we may be restless or not appreciative of what we have, feeling that the grass may be greener elsewhere.
On Thursday and Friday, we’re investing more energy and pride in harmonizing and connecting.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Cancer Mothering (or being mothered), sympathy, a yearning to put down roots, and a fondness for things that have stood the test of time – these are some of the hallmarks of the phase that now begins in your life. Romantic and social experiences, as well as artistic tastes, will show evidence of these factors.
Venus trine Jupiter June 2-3. Harmony and good will reign under this influence. Expansive feelings in love, and a feeling that anything is possible if we set our sights high enough, are experienced now. We are friendly, big-hearted, sociable, and optimistic. It is easy to make social contacts under this influence. Cheerfulness, trust, and confidence in love and social matters.
Venus square Chiron June 12. Not a commitment-friendly transit. We are somewhat fearful of investing ourselves emotionally in a relationship.
Venus sextile Uranus June 12-13. We lose our fear of taking risks at this time, and we happily embrace all that is new, unusual, and out-of-the-ordinary with regards to romantic involvements. We are ready to experiment, but not necessarily ready to commit.
Venus quincunx Saturn June 12-13. A feeling that we may not be able to express our affections, or that our affections will not be received well, can undermine us in our relationships. Fear of rejection, emotional distancing, and over-sensitivity.
Venus sesquiquadrate Jupiter June 16. We experience a strong desire for more pleasure in our lives, which can be excessive. Take care not to overstate your feelings or to set up unrealistic expectations in your partnerships.
Venus parallel the Sun June 17-18. A strong desire for harmony and comfort fill us now. We may be moved to express our affections.
Venus trine Neptune June 20-21. We perceive romantic situations as if they were “designed” just for us. A magical, romantic time. The pleasures of life are experienced fully. Romance is highly favored. We see the very best in people now, and this eases our interactions and takes the pressure off in personal relationships.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Sunday, June 13th, from 7:16 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to Pluto), until the Moon enters Leo at 2:23 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Tuesday, June 15th, from 1:27 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to the Sun), until the Moon enters Virgo at 11:02 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Thursday, June 17th, from 11:54 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to the Sun), until the Moon enters Libra the next day, Friday, June 18th, at 4:54 AM EDT.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Venus sextile Uranus. This is a favorable influence for social meetings and events, and for situations that call for treating others with equality and respect. We lose our fear of taking risks at this time, and we happily embrace all that is new, unusual, and out-of-the-ordinary with regards to romantic involvements as well as financial undertakings. We are ready to experiment, but not necessarily ready to commit. A good time for financial undertakings involving electronics, technology, the internet, metaphysics, and the arts, as well as group activities. A taste for the offbeat is in order.
Venus quincunx Saturn. We are extra sensitive, but it can be difficult to know why. Anxiety may overcome us when we wish to express our affections or social urges, and this hesitation can express itself through inhibitions and emotional distancing.
Sun square Neptune. Concentrating on artistic or spiritual pursuits is better than focusing on things that require straightforward, factual thinking today. It can be difficult knowing where or how to direct your willpower under this influence. It’s also a challenge knowing where you stand with others. Avoid such things as scheduling surgery, important appointments, job interviews, or launches of new projects at this time.
Saturn square Uranus. There can be tension experienced as our needs for freedom and spontaneity seem to clash with a need for structure and stability. Ideally, we can find creative ways to satisfy these diverging needs, perhaps by giving form to our ideals and quest for progress. Rules and limitations can feel more challenging to tolerate, but life feels too chaotic without some lines drawn. Attempts to assert our individuality, freedom, and originality tend to undermine our feeling of groundedness and security. Yet, we are not satisfied when we conform. There may be sudden and unexpected twists that force us to do something different or free ourselves from old habits. Adjusting our plans may be in order, and striking a balance between convention and innovation is the challenge. Setbacks tend to be temporary and often lead to new, more creative paths or solutions. While this aspect is active, however, we can feel some real frustration. There can be elevated frustrations related to differences in opinion that feel more problematic than usual, blocking progress or leading to delays. People we relied on may seem less reliable at this time.
Mars quincunx Jupiter. We tend to take on too much–either expend too much energy or overestimate our capabilities–during this transit. Poor timing is possible now, as we may be out of synch with our instincts and natural rhythm.
Mercury semi-square Mars. We are quick-witted and ready to argue under this influence. We may be working under stressful or hectic conditions, as we feel pressure to get things done quickly. We are inclined to be snappy and irritable, and we may too easily interrupt others rather than listen. Conflicts of interest are likely.
Venus sesquiquadrate Jupiter. We might take great strides to get noticed. Avoid impulsive buying. Problems in our personal life likely won’t get resolved under this influence. Avoid hasty (or haughty!) decisions. We might overstate our feelings or promise more than we can deliver, and the tendency to overdo is strong.
Sun quincunx Pluto. Adjustments are necessary now in order for our lives to move forward. The need to make changes in our life that will further our psychological development arise now.
Sun sesquiquadrate Saturn. It’s hard to satisfy the ego today. We feel blocked by circumstances or others. It’s too easy to feel discouraged, but discouragement is a time waster. Gratitude isn’t forthcoming right now, so it’s best to wait it out rather than waste energy letting it get to you.
Sun semi-square Uranus. During this transit, we feel the need for action, but if we don’t know where we’re headed, we might take the wrong turn. Unexpected changes in plans or events can test our patience, and we might feel a bit out of control. However, they could stimulate us to try new approaches and they certainly act to cut boredom. This transit could offer us the drive to do something new, but avoid making hasty major decisions for the time being.

JUNE 13
Venus forms a quincunx with Saturn this morning, and we could feel torn between two equally appealing desires, situations, or viewpoints. Or, the dilemma could be between pleasure and responsibility, and perhaps not able to fully appreciate or deal with either. The Moon continues its transit of soulful Cancer until 2:23 PM, when it moves into outgoing Leo. While the Leo Moon’s alignment with Mars this evening can stir our passions, a Sun-Neptune square can blur boundaries, and the route to our desires seems a roundabout one. We may be dealing with some disorganization, impracticality, or a temporary drain of energy. This transit challenges us to consider our spiritual needs, which might conflict with our plans and goals, or we may need to confront the areas of our lives where reality isn’t measuring up to our ideals. Until we find ways to incorporate imagination and spirit into our lives, there can be problems feeling inspired or motivated. It can be a time of increased spiritual awareness, vision, and inspiration, although we might first struggle with this. There may be detours or distractions to deal with now. This influence takes away our sense of certainty, and we can either go with that flow or resist it and feel a little lost and without direction temporarily.
The void Moon occurs from 7:16 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to Pluto), until the Moon enters Leo at 2:23 PM EDT.
JUNE 14
Saturn and Uranus return to form a square today, generating some friction. The first Saturn-Uranus square occurred in February, and the third (and final) one will happen in December. At the root of tension is a clash between our need for freedom and spontaneity and our need for structure and stability. Ideally, we can find creative ways to satisfy these diverging needs, perhaps by giving form to our ideals and quest for progress. Rules and limitations are harder to tolerate, but life feels too chaotic without some lines drawn. Attempts to assert our individuality, freedom, and originality tend to undermine our feeling of groundedness and security. Yet, we are not satisfied when we conform. There may be sudden and unexpected twists that force us to do something different or free ourselves from old habits during this period. Adjusting our plans may be in order, and striking a balance between convention and innovation is the challenge. Also today, Mars forms a quincunx to Jupiter, and we can feel out of sync with our instincts and natural rhythm. We could have some trouble making decisions, or we can find it challenging integrating one strong desire with another. Circumstances are such that we need to assess where we’ve been putting too much–or too little–energy. Poor timing is possible, and reshuffling our focus and prioritizing can be necessary.
JUNE 15
The Moon spends most of the day in the sign of Leo, harmonizing with the Gemini Sun this afternoon. We’re friendly and express ourselves creatively. Mercury’s semi-square to Mars introduces some nervous tension or impatience to our communications and actions. Frustration could fuel our motivation to make a change. We can quickly come up with ideas or retorts, but we can be a little nervous and snappy under this influence. If we allow ourselves to succumb to the pressure to get things done quickly, we may be working under stressful or hectic conditions. It’s not an ideal transit for patience and listening to one another. Tonight at 11:02 PM EDT, the Moon moves into earnest and exacting Virgo.
The void Moon occurs from 1:27 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to the Sun), until the Moon enters Virgo at 11:02 PM EDT.
JUNE 16
This morning, we may want more from our pleasures, pastimes, money, or love life with a minor square between Venus and Jupiter. However, it can be challenging to pinpoint or find what we’re seeking. We may end up wasting our time more often than not, although if we can focus on satisfying recreation, there’s no loss. This influence can serve to exaggerate our feelings, wants, and perceived needs. We might overstate our feelings or promise more than we can deliver, making it wise to manage impulsiveness and hastiness. A Venus-Vesta aspect later today helps us focus–it becomes easier to direct our energies into meaningful activities. Today’s Mercury-Venus semi-sextile can serve to subtly contrast a logical and playful approach. It may be all too easy to say things we don’t mean/feel. However, we’re adaptable and making an effort to understand one another. We’re heading toward a Sun-Pluto quincunx, exact early tomorrow, that can compound problems with decision-making. An adjustment may be necessary before we can feel that we’re moving forward. There may be a power shift or a setback that has us feeling temporarily out of sorts or powerless, prompting us to make changes. We might need to let something go to further our psychological growth. The Moon spends the day in practical Virgo.
JUNE 17
The Moon spends the day in Virgo, and we seek activities that make us feel useful. This transit encourages our attention to the details of our daily lives–we want to bring more order to our world. Tonight, the First Quarter Moon occurs with the Gemini Sun’s square to the Virgo Moon at 11:54 PM EDT. There is a crisis theme surrounding any quarter Moon phase, as we feel compelled to take action. Shortly after, we are made aware of how our actions affect those close to us, perhaps through trial and error. Whatever project or initiative that we began around the New Moon is now off the ground, and it may face its first obstacles.
The void Moon occurs from 11:54 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to the Sun), until the Moon enters Libra the next day, Friday, June 18th, at 4:54 AM EDT.
JUNE 18
The Moon continues its transit of Virgo until 4:54 AM EDT, after which it moves through the sign of Libra. A Libra Moon is compromising and unifying. Harmony is a goal with this Moon transit, and the lack of it can be emotionally unsettling. As a result, we tend to do more negotiating and accommodating. The Sun forms a sesquiquadrate aspect with Saturn, which may close us up or narrow our focus. We could feel confined, limited, or restricted regarding our plans and self-expression. These feelings can stir rebelliousness or restlessness, particularly as the day advances.
The void Moon continues today until 4:54 AM when the Moon enters Libra.
JUNE 19
The Sun forms a semi-square with Uranus this morning, stirring up some restlessness that may seem too generalized to put to productive use. We may want to shake things up, make changes, and break the routine now. However, we could also be tense if there are unexpected schedule changes or if we’re not in touch with what we need to change. It’s better to keep things simple. Fortunately, today’s Pluto-Pallas sextile encourages strategy and insight. We are wise and willing to invest our energy into solving problems. Our natural talents, as well as acquired resources, are highlighted and positive. It’s a good time for healing, regenerative activities, particularly to do with the mind/thinking. Today’s Libra Moon is cooperative, friendly, and gracious. We’re ready to meet each other halfway. We seek ways to blend, balance, and cooperate.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Cancer
The restlessness of the Gemini Moon gives way to an instinctive need for peace and quiet. A feeling of belonging and safety is what motivates us under this influence. The Moon feels right at home in the sign of Cancer, as it rules the sign. This Moon position has much healing potential. Although insular by nature, our feelings run deep, making it an ideal time to get in touch with what motivates us.
The Moon in Cancer generally favors the following activities: Domestic activities, those that involve awareness of personal needs. Home decor, family get-togethers.
When the Moon is in Leo
The Moon in Leo speaks to our "inner child". It's a warm, generous, whole-heartedly loving position. Pride keeps us from pettiness, but it can also prevent us from opening up and revealing how we are truly feeling. We are on stage, our feelings are grand, and we appreciate some drama in our lives. We are easily threatened by anything that seems to be impersonal. This is a time when we seek attention--when we want to stand out for our special qualities. It's a strong time for romance and any creative activity as well.
The Moon in Leo generally favors the following activities: Creative activities, activities involving children, generous undertakings, undertakings in which personal recognition is desired, and risk-taking.
When the Moon is in Virgo
We instinctually gravitate towards practical activities under the influence of a Virgo Moon. In an urge to set things right, we might easily find ourselves re-organizing and rethinking plans. Emotional satisfaction comes from solving problems, making order out of confusion, and helping others. Health matters might come into focus. We notice the smaller parts that make up the whole, and instead of letting nagging details bother us, we might work on ironing them out so that we can feel more confident moving ahead.
The Moon in Virgo generally favors the following activities: Mental pursuits, work activities, services, and routines. Activities that would benefit from tending to details.
When the Moon is in Libra
Creating order is the focus, not necessarily through tidying or organizing as was the case while the Moon was in Virgo, but rather through pleasing interactions with others and aesthetics in our environment. We tend to solve problems through diplomacy, and we are more able to put aside our own emotions in order to achieve the peace we crave. The tendency now is to avoid direct confrontations. Decisions do not come easily. Seeing both sides to any given situation is the main reason for hesitation. Fear of losing others' approval is another.
The Moon in Libra generally favors the following activities: Relationship and partnership issues, activities involving teamwork and cooperation, activities that involve self-examination, activities related to beauty.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Gemini The cycle which begins for you now will be marked by a more intense focus on mental and communicative activity than you may ever have experienced before. It’s a time of more involvement with other people, a time for gathering information, and a time when you’re apt to be more on the go than ever. There is likely to be an emphasis on reading, writing, studying, and all forms of exchanging information with others in the years ahead – and it will all serve as a path for self-discovery and personal development.
Mercury in Gemini A walking encyclopedia, a yen to know a little bit about everything (and everyone): these are the icons of the cycle you have just begun. Talking, writing, keeping a finger on the pulse of all that’s happening … this is a time of study and learning, a cycle of mental challenge, curiosity, and social/intellectual growth. Such things are an end in themselves rather than a means to any other end.
Mars in Leo The thrill of the chase, the smell of the greasepaint, the roar of the crowd: that’s what gets your juices flowing now that you’ve entered a new cycle. To be appreciated, to be admired (adored, even) – that’s what you crave. It’s a time of creativity, drama, and passion; a time when grabbing the spotlight and stealing the scene gives you a thrill. Is winning everything? No – but it’s way ahead of whatever comes in second!
Jupiter in Pisces Mysticism, sensitivity to the needs of others, and an awareness of karma (the link between the present and the past): these are your paths to spiritual growth now. Addressing these issues brings you gain and satisfaction at many levels. A tolerance for differences, an understanding of human frailties and shortcomings.
Saturn in Aquarius Ideals are in for a period of testing, as a new phase begins in your life. What are principles worth, unless they are put into practice? That’s an important question for you now. This could mean you may be disappointed by causes you believe in – but if you abandon your principles, you lose.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone, and everyone in their place…
