Romance & Relationship Report
Daily Trends
The FULL MOON occurs on Thursday, January 28th, 2021, at 2:16 PM EST.
On Thursday afternoon, the Moon is full when the Aquarius Sun opposes the Moon in Leo. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time–a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.
The Leo-Aquarius polarity deals with the balance between all that is personal (Leo) and all that is impersonal (Aquarius). The energy of the Leo Moon is creative self-expression and the boost to the individual ego that we receive through pleasure and romance, while the Aquarius Sun rules the group, more impersonal friendships, and objectivity. This Full Moon urges us to strike a balance between romance and friendship, and between expressing ourselves in personal and impersonal ways.
The Leo Moon is proud and intensely individual–not content with simply being just one of the team. The Aquarius Sun, while individualistic as well, values independence and the “team.” The Full Moon illuminates this conflict. This Full Moon occurs when the Sun aligns with Jupiter, lending us optimism and courage to pursue what’s in our hearts, based on realism since it’s just recently moved away from alignment with Saturn. Still, it’s square Mars, suggesting some impulsiveness or combativeness to manage.
With the Moon full and bright in the sky, symbolic illumination occurs in our own lives. However, these new feelings and revelations are emotional ones, as there is a sense of emotions bursting forth into our consciousness. It’s time to express ourselves, and to let things out of our systems. Over the coming weeks, we will discover what this means for us. For now, we can’t sit on our feelings. We need to express them. Of course, we might want to exercise some care while doing so, knowing that what is coming out of us is not particularly rational as yet.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 9 degrees and 6 minutes of Leo, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 5 to 13 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) most significantly.

This week: The Sun is in Aquarius; Mercury is in Aquarius; Venus is in Capricorn; Mars is in Taurus.
The Sun is in Aquarius from January 19 to February 18. During this cycle, we are motivated by our hunger for knowledge, experience, and originality. Innovation is more important to us than convention. We become more aware of what is outdated in our lives, and strive to find new perspectives and new ways to do things. The class distinctions, structure, and order that Capricorn finds appealing now seem to be too rigid. The freedom of the individual becomes far more significant to us. We strive to free ourselves from some of the restrictions, inhibitions, and limitations that now feel constraining rather than safe.
Mercury is in Aquarius from January 8 to March 15. [This is an extended stay due to an upcoming retrograde cycle from January 30-February 20.] When Mercury is in Aquarius, we are hungry for knowledge and open to new and original ideas. We begin to think outside of the box, and our thinking becomes more progressive and objective. Our communication and thought patterns are spontaneous, somewhat fragmented, and liberal. This is a time when inventive thinking is at a peak.
Venus is in Capricorn from January 8 to February 1. Getting serious about our finances and boosting our relations with business partners and/or co-workers will be easier than usual under this influence. Our talents for creating artistic structure and form are enhanced, and our ability to form connections with people who support our ambitions is increased. We value enduring connections, reliability, and faithfulness. We take expressing our feelings seriously, and we take our time to warm up to others. We generally keep our “cool” in relationships.
Mars is in Taurus from January 6 to March 3, 2021. We are determined, stubborn, and resolute during this cycle. Mars in Taurus can be passive, and is at its strongest when resisting or defending something! In stark contrast to the impulsive Mars in Aries cycle, we tend to pursue our goals by plodding along patiently. Our goal is longevity and long-term satisfaction.
Jupiter is in Aquarius from December 19th, 2020, to May 13, 2021, and then from July 28 to December 28, 2021. Read more about the Jupiter in Aquarius transit.
Saturn entered Aquarius on December 17th, 2020. Saturn transits Aquarius from March 21 to July 1, 2020, and from December 17th, 2020, until March 7, 2023. Read about Saturn’s transit of Aquarius.
Uranus is in Taurus. Uranus transits Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and then from March 6th, 2019, until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle.
There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Capricorn from January 8 to February 1, 2021. Venus in Capricorn is a cycle in which security and stability in our relationships are paramount. We are more cautious with our emotions and somewhat skeptical of both our own feelings and others’ expressions of affection. Longevity is important to us under this influence.
There is a formality to Capricorn that can make personal expressions seem awkward and forced at times. However, this cycle offers us an opportunity to consider some of the practical issues of our relations and to work on making our partnerships work in the real world. A dose of realism in our personal lives can help us feel more grounded and secure in the long run.
This week: On Wednesday and Thursday, our desires are complex and deep. We demand much from our relationships and pleasures, perhaps wanting to take them to a new level. Feelings are intense, insistent, and motivating.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Capricorn Marry for money and then learn to love ’em: that’s what your heart tells you now, as a new cycle gets underway in your life. Does that sound cynical? Maybe so – but it does reflect the yearning you feel for security and stability now, and it suggests the kind of compromises you may be willing to make to accomplish these objectives.
Venus sextile Neptune January 22-23. Unusual attractions that add imagination, inspiration, and emotional “color” to our lives may occur now. We are attuned to the subtleties of human interaction, and we are more inclined to naturally cooperate with others. An imaginative, romantic time.
Venus parallel Pluto January 23. The desire for drama and intensity in relationships is with us. Love feelings and relationship issues can be all-consuming now, assuming more importance in our lives than usual. Interactions with others are intense now, and themes of sharing and trust dominate in relationships.
Venus conjunct Pluto January 27-28. An extraordinarily passionate time for relationships. We are focused and confident. There is a tendency to want–and to demand–a lot from a partnership or friendship. Powerful and uplifting time for romantic/sexual relationships. New insights into relationships and love. Strong attractions. Relationships begun under this influence are intense and passionate, deep and far from superficial, and can be quite possessive as well.
Venus semi-square Neptune February 4. Romantic confusion as well as relationship ups and downs. Self-deceptions may come to light now.
Venus conjunct Saturn February 5-6. Affections stabilize and mature. Relationships are stabilized and steady, although feelings are expressed reservedly, formally, or sparingly. An air of formality is brought to personal and social relationships. A new sense of realism in existing partnerships comes now. A sense of duty may lead us to sacrifice a personal pleasure for a cause or for a loved one; thus we may have to abstain from personal gratification for the time being. Problems in personal relationships that have been swept under the carpet may surface now, and we are ready to face them. Dissatisfaction with loved ones becomes more glaring. Renewed ties to old friends or lovers are possible, or a new sense of responsibility in existing relationships.
Venus sextile Chiron February 5-6. Love has the power to heal old wounds. We are open to romantic feelings and more willing to act upon them.
Venus square Uranus February 6. We might have to deal with issues of freedom versus intimacy during this period. Peculiar or impulsive attractions are exciting, but unlikely to last very long. Treat them as passing fancies, and enjoy them while they last–but try to hold off on making any big decisions with regards to love today.
Venus parallel Saturn February 6-7. We may express our affection sparingly, but also responsibly and in practical ways. Relationships begun under this influence often feel burdensome over time, but they may last longer than most.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Monday, January 25th, from 2:18 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Mercury), until the Moon enters Cancer at 1:52 PM EST.
VOC Moon on Wednesday, January 27th, from 12:55 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to Pluto), until the Moon enters Leo at 9:54 PM EST.
VOC Moon on Friday, January 29th, from 8:53 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to Mercury), until the Moon enters Virgo the next day, Saturday, January 30th, at 3:02 AM EST.

Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
The Moon is waxing this week until the Full Moon on the 28th, which is generally considered favorable for new beginnings, with some exceptions. The Moon is waning after the Full Moon, which is generally considered unfavorable for new beginnings, again with exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details).
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs from Sunday, January 24th, at approximately 5:40 PM EST, until Monday, January 25th, at approximately 2:15 AM EST.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Sun sextile Chiron. An opportunity to find a sense of purpose or a “mission” arises now, increasing our confidence. The desire to learn and grow through experiences and through others is strong. Problem solving is favored.
Sun square Uranus. We can’t expect much of anything when the Sun squares Uranus, except the unexpected! Disrupted routines and plans are in order, which help to stimulate the adoption of new approaches. During this transit, we feel the need for action, but if we don’t know where we’re headed, we might take the wrong turn. Unexpected changes in plans or events can test our patience, and we might feel a bit out of control. However, they could stimulate us to try new approaches and they certainly act to cut boredom. This transit could offer us the drive to do something new, but avoid making hasty major decisions for the time being.
Venus conjunct Pluto. This is an “all or nothing” energy. We have the power of attraction at our disposal. Things shouldn’t be forced, even though the desire to sway, coerce, and manipulate others may be present. Passions are strong and intense. There is a tendency to want–and to demand–a lot from a partnership or friendship. This is a time when we can be focused and confident, especially when it comes to handling business and finances, as well as with regards to love and partnership.
Sun conjunct Jupiter. Vitality increases as we build our confidence. We feel more generous, optimistic, and sociable under this influence. We might hunger for increased recognition and respect, and, with our generous attitude and concern for others’ well-being, we might just get what we want. This is a good time to take steps to grow something–our business, our significant relationships, and so forth. This transit also favors legal, educational, religious, and cultural endeavors.

JANUARY 24
The Moon spends the day in the communicative, connected sign of Gemini. We’re curious, spending more time than usual in our minds. The Gemini Moon is interested and perhaps a bit scattered. We’re reasonable, logical, and communicative, and we seek contacts and activities that stimulate us and satisfy our need for diversity, variety, and knowledge. While the Gemini Moon’s square to Neptune this afternoon can point to some listlessness, it’s easier to direct our energies productively later today. Unresolved feelings or issues are in focus. This is a day for identifying what needs to be done for us to grow and improve, as well as for sharing, learning, healing, helping, and teaching. We can feel especially compelled to work on problem areas, and we’re willing to break through barriers as the day advances and we get closer to a Sun-Chiron sextile.
JANUARY 25
The Sun forms a sextile to Chiron this morning, and it’s approaching a square to Uranus tonight, suggesting tension related to our will to perform, follow or uphold traditions, and achieve in contrast with our desire to express ourselves as individuals, authentically. The trick is to avoid overemphasizing the self or ego now as we recognize the need for change, growth, and improvement. Fortunately, the Sun-Chiron connection today increases our desire to learn and grow through our experiences. There can be an opportunity to find a sense of purpose or a mission, increasing our confidence, possibly through our friendships, happiness goals, or personal accomplishments. The desire to learn and grow through experiences and people in our lives is strong and healthy now. Problem-solving is favored. We can feel a little stronger and more empowered. The Moon continues its transit of Gemini until 1:52 PM EST when it enters Cancer.
The void Moon occurs from 2:18 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Mercury), until the Moon enters Cancer at 1:52 PM EST.
JANUARY 26
The Sun forms a square to Uranus today, and changes made now may feel out of character or abrupt. Disrupted routines and plans are likely, and while they can be unsettling at first, they can also stimulate the adoption of new approaches. Our strong desire for independence or to break the rules could impair our judgment. Even so, if we’re willing to learn from our mistakes, we might adopt a more careful approach to making necessary changes. We should watch for being irresponsible in our rebellions and guard against temperamental behavior and decision-making. Disruptions can pull up buried frustrations, which we should probably examine more closely. It can be a time to learn something new about ourselves. However, the Moon spends the day in the sign of Cancer, and the need for safety, familiarity, and security can take over, particularly as the day advances.
JANUARY 27
The Moon continues its transit of Cancer for much of the day, until 9:54 PM EST. The Cancer Moon is warm, protective, and self-protective when it feels threatened. Venus and Pluto are heading into alignment, exact tomorrow, and the Cancer Moon opposes them today. Others can seem too harsh or critical in the first half of the day, stimulating a defensive stance. We could wrestle with divided attention to work and personal or family matters. We may not be getting the support we want or need and, further, have difficulty asking for it. Still, we have the chance to learn from past experiences, love, attachments, family, and even rejection. From 9:54 PM forward, the Moon transits Leo, and we’re prepared to take a risk and solicit feedback. We’re more expressive and ready to share.
The void Moon occurs from 12:55 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to Pluto), until the Moon enters Leo at 9:54 PM EST.
JANUARY 28
Today is astrologically busy. Venus aligns with Pluto, and our feelings are intense. We have the power of attraction at our disposal. There is a tendency to want–and demand–more than usual from a partnership or friendship. It’s important to note that there can be quite a flair for drama today. A Full Moon occurs in the sign of Leo, and the Sun aligns with Jupiter. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of what we began at the New Moon. It is an emotional time–a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships. The Leo Moon is proud and intensely individual, not content with simply being just one of the team. The Aquarius Sun, while individualistic as well, values independence and the team. The Full Moon illuminates this conflict. It occurs when the Sun aligns with Jupiter, lending us optimism and courage to pursue what’s in our hearts, based on realism since it’s just recently moved away from alignment with Saturn. Still, the Full Moon is square Mars, suggesting some impulsiveness or combativeness to manage. This is a time of discovery and a renewed sense of joy, faith, and optimism. Vitality increases as we build our confidence. We’re more generous, optimistic, and sociable. It’s an excellent time to take steps to grow something important to us.
JANUARY 29
The Moon spends the day in the sign of bold, creative, demonstrative Leo. Satisfaction comes from pride in our actions and creations. The Leo Moon is honorable, proud, and authoritative. Today’s Mercury-Venus semi-sextile can serve to, perhaps subtly, contrast a logical and playful approach. It may be all too easy to say things we don’t mean/feel. However, we seem to be able to make things work, and while we may not be especially focused today, we’re adaptable, and we’re making an effort to understand one another. There can be tension between our desire to go our own way and the need to take care of the people in our lives or our domestic and personal responsibilities as the day advances.
The void Moon occurs from 8:53 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to Mercury), until the Moon enters Virgo tomorrow, Saturday, January 30th, at 3:02 AM EST.
JANUARY 30
Mercury stations and turns retrograde in the sign of Aquarius today and will be retrograde until February 20th, and we might get our wires crossed today. Communication can be tricky, and it can be hard to focus on cold, hard facts as the shift occurs now. We grow more accustomed to the retrograde during the cycle itself, and our thinking turns inward as we review and reassess matters. There can be the need to do things a little differently, especially related to communicating, negotiating, buying and selling, listening, formal contracts, documents, travel, the mail, and shipping. It’s a time when being careless with money, our personal information, or paperwork can be costly, but it can also be a time for seeing some details we missed in recent days– we see matters from a new perspective. This period is best used for reorganizing and reflecting. We look at the world through different filters and can experience important revelations. Mercury retrograde periods can be times of heightened inner awareness, when meditation, journal-keeping, reworking old plans, and reviewing past work are favored. Minor breaks in the mechanical aspects of communication can reconnect us with other, possibly more meaningful means of communication. In the weeks ahead, we’ll get in touch with our ideals and humanitarian goals. We can tap into our inner muse and come up with incredibly inventive ideas. However, some slowdowns and delays are likely. The Moon continues its transit of Leo until 3:02 AM EST, after which the Moon is in Virgo. The Virgo Moon harmonizes with Uranus and then Mars, encouraging our inventiveness.
The void Moon continues until the Moon enters Virgo today at 3:02 AM EST.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Gemini
Our basic instinct is to communicate, think, and learn under the influence of Moon in Gemini. We are motivated by a desire for variety and by an instinctive curiosity. The Moon in Gemini is light-hearted, breezy, spirited, and curious, but it can also be restless and fickle.
The Moon in Gemini generally favors the following activities: Mental and communicative actions, and more than one activity at once. Reading, learning, letters and emails, errands, writing, teaching, making connections, cafes, light and airy meetings, short trips.
When the Moon is in Cancer
The restlessness of the Gemini Moon gives way to an instinctive need for peace and quiet. A feeling of belonging and safety is what motivates us under this influence. The Moon feels right at home in the sign of Cancer, as it rules the sign. This Moon position has much healing potential. Although insular by nature, our feelings run deep, making it an ideal time to get in touch with what motivates us.
The Moon in Cancer generally favors the following activities: Domestic activities, those that involve awareness of personal needs. Home decor, family get-togethers.
When the Moon is in Leo
The Moon in Leo speaks to our "inner child". It's a warm, generous, whole-heartedly loving position. Pride keeps us from pettiness, but it can also prevent us from opening up and revealing how we are truly feeling. We are on stage, our feelings are grand, and we appreciate some drama in our lives. We are easily threatened by anything that seems to be impersonal. This is a time when we seek attention--when we want to stand out for our special qualities. It's a strong time for romance and any creative activity as well.
The Moon in Leo generally favors the following activities: Creative activities, activities involving children, generous undertakings, undertakings in which personal recognition is desired, and risk-taking.
When the Moon is in Virgo
We instinctually gravitate towards practical activities under the influence of a Virgo Moon. In an urge to set things right, we might easily find ourselves re-organizing and rethinking plans. Emotional satisfaction comes from solving problems, making order out of confusion, and helping others. Health matters might come into focus. We notice the smaller parts that make up the whole, and instead of letting nagging details bother us, we might work on ironing them out so that we can feel more confident moving ahead.
The Moon in Virgo generally favors the following activities: Mental pursuits, work activities, services, and routines. Activities that would benefit from tending to details.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Aquarius This is a time when your path of self-development and expression becomes more and more unusual – setting you apart from the crowd and from all that is traditional. The new, the futuristic, the high-tech are the hallmarks of your lifestyle as the cycle gets underway. Ideas and technologies that change the way people live – not just one person, but many – are a major new focus in your life. Involvement with ideals and idealistic groups enhances your sense of purpose and mission.
Mercury in Aquarius The tried and true doesn’t cut it anymore: it’s the new, the unique, and the original that catches and holds your interest now. Idealism, rationality, and critical thinking become more and more a part of your mental patterns and the way you communicate. You are inventive, original, high tech.
Mars in Taurus Making the most of what you’ve got, striving for security and stability: that’s the impulse that stirs in you as a new cycle begins in your life. New frontiers? That’s kid’s stuff for you now! What you want is to build something that will last: a pyramid, a Great Wall – you know, that sort of thing. Steady, patient, solid: that’s your style now.
Jupiter in Aquarius Innovation, reform, and idealism are your paths to growth and gain now. New, futuristic ideas are part of this, but it’s more than that: putting them into practice is essential because this is much more than empty idealism. A break from the past, a willingness to flaunt convention.
Saturn in Aquarius Ideals are in for a period of testing, as a new phase begins in your life. What are principles worth, unless they are put into practice? That’s an important question for you now. This could mean you may be disappointed by causes you believe in – but if you abandon your principles, you lose.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone, and everyone in their place…
