The LAST QUARTER MOON occurs on Tuesday, December 5th, 2023, at 12:49 AM EST.
A Last Quarter Moon occurs early Tuesday, when the Sun in Sagittarius forms a square with the Moon in Virgo.
The Last Quarter Moon phase points to some sort of crisis of consciousness. After basking in the awareness symbolized by the full light of the Moon at the time of last week’s Full Moon, we disperse our knowledge and come to a point when we need to sort out what works for us–and what doesn’t–in preparation for next week’s New Moon, when something new is born once again.
This is not the best time to start a major project, as the decreasing light of the Moon symbolizes descent into unconsciousness. It’s time to begin finishing up the details of that which was conceived at the last New Moon. We might consider recent revelations, what they mean to us, and our next steps. Going forward, it’s a better time to tie up loose ends, take inventory, and let go if necessary. We’re sorting out what does and doesn’t work for us.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 12 degrees and 49 minutes of Virgo the Sun at 12 degrees and 49 minutes of Sagittarius, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 11 to 15 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) most significantly.

This week: The Sun is in Sagittarius; Mercury is in Capricorn; Venus is in Libra to the 4th, when it enters Scorpio; Mars is in Sagittarius.
The Sun is in Sagittarius from November 22-December 21. With the Sun in Sagittarius, our focus shifts from the need for an intimate connection with a person and with ourselves, to the desire to reach out to the world and connect with something larger than ourselves.
While the Sun moves through this fiery, mutable sign, we can take steps to increase our understanding and awareness of the world around us. We are more able to muster up the courage to expand our horizons and branch out into new ways of thinking.
We can gain more confidence and optimism by focusing on the “big picture” as we move away from our focus on the details of mundane existence. Although we may be prone to overdoing our expectations, we have the opportunity to nurture our faith, hope, and vision under this influence.
Mercury is in Capricorn from December 1-23. [Mercury will return to Capricorn from January 13th to February 5th, 2024 after retreating into Sagittarius due to Mercury’s retrograde motion from December 13, 2023, to January 1, 2024.] When Mercury is in Capricorn, our thinking is methodical and our focus is sober and practical. It is easier to concentrate on the task at hand under this influence. Our conversations may be quite realistic or focused on business/practical matters. Our thought patterns and communication styles become more logical, orderly, and organized.
We are more able to sort out what is relevant and essential. Realism enters the picture, our speech is no-nonsense, and precision becomes important to us. Our survival instincts are strong–we’re interested in what will benefit us in the long term.
We’re not interested in the fluff, preferring to get right to a point or the bottom line. Communication can be somewhat guarded or cautious, and similarly not very floral or expressive. We gravitate to concrete subjects and information that’s logical, useful, and well-organized. We may prefer a methodical approach to studying. Our fantasies may be well-considered and possible, with realistic overtones.
We need to be wary of becoming too rigid in our thinking. We may come across as cold or harsh. For some, there is a fine line between realism and pessimism. At times, we might lack humor, or we’re inclined toward sarcasm when joking. We can be quite stubborn with our ideas and methods.
We can use this period to make solid, realistic plans and get organized. It’s a favorable time to advise, teach, or guide. Generally, we’re more concerned than usual with our reputation or responsibilities. Our dependability can reap rewards. We love to plan ahead and map out our next steps. Changes of schedule can be most disconcerting during this cycle.
Our reactions are sensible, cool, and level-headed while Mercury is in Capricorn.
Venus is in Libra from November 8-December 4. We favor charm over assertiveness to get what we want during this cycle. Usually quite willing to negotiate and compromise, we can be very obliging with others. We’re also very idealistic about love, and we seek intellectual peers. Although Venus in Libra is very relationship-focused, there is an air of cool detachment to this energy. We prefer things are done the “right” way, and aggressive or uncouth behavior turns us off.
The shadow expression of this position includes over-dependence and superficiality. To avoid unpleasant situations, we could easily gloss over deeper issues at play in our relationships. It’s probably best to avoid the trap of acquiescing to partners while privately resenting the fact or thinking ourselves martyrs for doing so.
While Venus is in Libra, we are more artistically inclined or seek balance in our personal environment. This cycle is excellent for promoting cooperation, harmony, mutually beneficial connections, and fairness. We are gentle but firm, and we’re skilled at mediation.
We’re more likely to prosper during this cycle in partnership, through one-to-one associations, such as counseling, or in fields related to harmony, relationships, beauty, design, and the law. We’re not fond of out-and-out competition or aggressive pursuit, preferring win-win situations, hands down. We attract things to us and appeal to others gently and kindly. Equality and politeness are important now, and we despise hurting others’ feelings.
Venus is in Scorpio from December 4-29. Deeply passionate relations are the focus with Venus in Scorpio. Superficial flirtations and contacts do not satisfy now, as we yearn for “body and soul” contact with someone special–contact that breaks the taboos, that is extreme and intense, and that is unforgettable. It’s a highly emotional position for Venus, and it’s passionate energy.
Our relationships are immensely important to us, and we may even feel that they consume us. In fact, we tend to want to be consumed by them! Our drive is toward intense closeness, but blind faith in our partners is extremely hard for us now. Fears of being too vulnerable or of giving up our own power to others are strong. Scorpio is an “all or nothing” energy, and relationships tend to be somewhat of a rollercoaster ride as a result. Disdain for mediocrity and superficiality can compel us to create crises to feel alive and vital.
Similarly, during this Venus-in-Scorpio cycle, we seek or gravitate to absorbing, deeply engaging, dramatic pleasures, activities, projects, and art. Things that are profound, disturbing, mysterious, or unusual can be more appealing now.
This can be a good time for finances, especially when working with others’ talents or resources, whether as an agent, supporter, or partner.
Mars is in Sagittarius from November 24, 2023-January 4, 2024. With a Sagittarius Mars, our actions are motivated by our ideals. We are bothered by routine, quickly becoming restless if we feel confined. Our love of adventure and of conquest is strong–this is the position of wanderlust. We start projects or challenges with gusto, although we may tend to abandon them rather quickly. This may be because we set our sights too high! There is a tendency to jump in and think about it later. Part of us resists directions, instructions, and planning ahead.
We are spontaneous, direct, and passionate about our beliefs with Mars in Sagittarius. It’s a playful, fun-loving, and optimistic energy. We have strong morals, and we’re champions for the truth. We’re also ready for a hearty debate. Given the space to find our own way, we can move mountains. In fact, we enjoy stretching our limits. It’s an inspiring, forward-looking period when we follow our hearts and positive visions of the future.
Jupiter is in Taurus.
Jupiter begins its transit of Taurus on May 16th, 2023, and it will continue its transit of the sign until May 25th, 2024. Read more about Jupiter’s transit of Taurus.
Saturn transits Pisces from March 7th, 2023 until May 24th, 2025, and Sep 1st, 2025, to Feb 13th, 2026. Read about Saturn’s transit of Pisces.
Uranus is in Taurus.
Uranus transits Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and then from March 6th, 2019, until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. Above all, we’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle.
There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. In general, we’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money, are likely. Our income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Pluto transitions from Capricorn to Aquarius in 2023 and 2024. Read about Pluto’s transit of Aquarius. Pluto has retrograded back into Capricorn, and is in Capricorn until January 20th, 2024.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Libra from November 8-December 4. Venus rules Libra and thus is dignified in the sign. In fact, Venus feels right “at home” in Libra, where she seeks to balance and harmonize. With Venus in Libra, we can easily be in love with love. We are more comfortable with a close partner with whom we can seek to have a balanced relationship. We favor employing charm over aggressive pursuit to get what we want.
Although Venus in Libra is very relationship-focused, there is an air of cool detachment to this energy. We are very obliging with others–quite willing to negotiate and compromise. We can be especially idealistic about love. As we prefer things be done the “right” way, we’re turned off by aggressive or uncouth behavior.
The shadow side of this position is dependency, inconsistency, and superficiality. In an attempt to avoid unpleasant situations, we could easily gloss over deeper issues at play in our relationships. It’s probably best to avoid the trap of acquiescing to our partners but privately resenting the fact or thinking ourselves martyrs for doing so!
This is a highly emotional position for Venus. It is a passionate, sensual, and intense energy.
Disdain for mediocrity and superficiality can compel us to create crises in order to feel alive and vital. If a relationship becomes too settled or predictable, we may crave more intensity and catalytic experience. Jealousies, fears of betrayal, and power games are the shadow side of Venus in Scorpio.
We may easily become obsessed with a fear that our partners might be betraying us, or that they are not as consumed by and dedicated to the relationship as us. This can lead us to try to uncover the “truth”, reading too many negative possibilities in our partners’ actions and words.
This week: On Sunday, envy, jealousy, and possessiveness can enter the picture if we let fear drive our behavior. Insecurities about not being “in the know” or fears of having the rug pulled from under our feet in our relationships can be stimulated. It might be difficult to get close to one another under these conditions, but with self-honesty, it can be a good time to get in touch with our vulnerability.
On Tuesday, we’re ready to lock something down, make a commitment, or simply embrace responsibility. It’s a great time to show our love through our actions, commitment, and reliability or loyalty.
On Saturday, we may go overboard as we seek more meaning or new horizons. Watch for overcommitting or overstating. We’re easily bored with anything mundane or normal, and as a result, we’re inclined to dramatize our lives. We’re hungry for more, but possibly insatiable, in the love department. It’s possible that we overstate our feelings if we temporarily overvalue someone, or we face challenges in our relationships due to high expectations.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Libra As this new cycle takes hold in your life, romance and social interaction take on a greater importance for you. Harmonious ties to others are what you yearn for; refinement and elegance are what you seek. The ideal partnership, the perfect balance, the highest standards of truth and beauty – these are some of the things that quicken your pulse now.
Venus in Scorpio This is way beyond love, all the way to obsession – that’s the nature of the cycle that now takes hold in your life. We’re not talking just lukewarm WANT here; we’re talking red-hot GOT TO HAVE! Passion, jealousy, possession: these are the kinds of experiences that can flow from the intensity that courses through you at one level or another now – voracious.
Venus quincunx Neptune November 29-30. Idealism and disappointments in love. Avoid becoming blinded by what you want to see, rather than what really is. Doubts about love.
Venus square Pluto December 2-3. Intense passions, but there’s a hidden agenda. Jealousy and possessiveness are high, in direct proportion to fear of losing partnership. Avoid starting a new relationship at this time, because it can be characterized by these energies.
Venus trine Saturn December 5. Relationships are stabilized and steady, although feelings are expressed reservedly, formally, or sparingly. A new sense of realism and maturity in existing partnerships. Relationships begun under this influence possess a distinctly practical theme, almost as if the partnership is a business endeavor, and have much potential to last.
Venus opposition Jupiter December 9. We are easily bored with the everyday responsibilities and routines of our love lives, and are now inclined to dramatize our lives. As a result, our love natures are strong, but insatiable. We may overstate our feelings as we temporarily overvalue someone; or we face challenges in our relationships due to overblown expectations. We are itching for adventure and fun, but the wisest course of action is to avoid ignoring our responsibilities (and reality) in our efforts towards self-gratification.
Venus sextile Mercury December 11. Favors playfulness in love and enhanced communication between partners. Romantic overtures, expressions of love and affection, making new social contacts. This is a time when promises, pledges, and clarifications (usually very positive!) are made in love relationships.
Venus contraparallel Jupiter December 11-12. We’re optimistic and ready to take a chance or give someone or something the benefit of the doubt. We are able to make the best of a situation now. Watch for overextension. It’s best not to overstate or make big promises based only on the good mood of the moment.
Venus parallel Saturn December 11-12. We may express our affection sparingly, but also responsibly and in practical ways. Relationships begun under this influence often feel burdensome over time, but they may last longer than most.
Venus sesquiquadrate Neptune December 12. Romantic confusion as well as relationship ups and downs. Self-deceptions may come to light now.
Venus quincunx Chiron December 17. There may be vague feelings of discontent in relationships; or a choice that needs to be made regarding personal relationships, money, or possessions. Insecurity involving others might make it awkward for us to express our affections naturally or flowingly.
Venus semi-square Mercury December 19-20. Communications between lovers are superficial and unsatisfying, and perhaps awkward. Superficiality in romantic expression may exist now.
Venus semi-sextile Mars December 20. We might struggle with whether to take a direct or indirect approach to get what we want. In truth, we may be better off recognizing that it doesn’t have to be one way or the other–a combination would be ideal, or else the see-sawing can be confusing.
Venus opposition Uranus December 20-21. Not a good time to start relationships. Independence is the reigning need. Some fickleness. Uncertainty about the desire to be close to someone. Freedom versus closeness.
Venus trine Neptune December 24-25. We perceive romantic situations as if they were “designed” just for us. A magical, romantic time. The pleasures of life are experienced fully. Romance is highly favored. We see the very best in people now, and this eases our interactions and takes the pressure off in personal relationships.
Venus semi-sextile Mercury December 26. It may be all too easy to say things we don’t mean/feel.
Venus contra-parallel Uranus December 26. Questions of freedom, change, specialness, and experimentation are raised in our relationships.
Venus sextile Pluto December 28-29. Subtly powerful and uplifting time for romantic/sexual relationships. New insights into relationships and love. Strong attractions.
Venus sesquiquadrate Chiron December 29. Love cannot be forced. This is not a commitment-friendly transit, as we may feel alienated for no apparent reason and unwilling to give of ourselves.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects.
The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart to determine the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass.
The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Sunday, December 3rd, from 9:12 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Venus), until the Moon enters Virgo at 10:51 PM EST.
VOC Moon on Wednesday, December 6th, from 8:51 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Pluto), until the Moon enters Libra at 11:35 AM EST.
VOC Moon on Friday, December 8th, from 8:06 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Pluto), until the Moon enters Scorpio at 10:36 PM EST.
December 2023:
Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
It’s important to note that there are more factors to consider in addition to the windows listed below. The following windows are starting points. For example, you generally don’t want to elect a new venture when a very challenging aspect is applying, and it’s preferable to elect a time when a particularly positive aspect hasn’t yet perfected (is applying rather than separating).
The Moon is waning this week, which is considered as generally unfavorable for new beginnings, although with some exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details).
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs this week on Sunday, December 3rd, from approximately 4:15 AM to 9:10 PM EST, while the Moon is in Leo. Another window occurs on Wednesday, December 6th, from approximately 2:20 AM to 8:45 AM EST, while the Moon is in Virgo.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Venus square Pluto. Intense passions are stirring, but there’s a hidden agenda. Feelings of jealousy and possessiveness run high, in direct proportion to fear of losing someone or something. It’s not an ideal time to begin a new relationship, because it can be characterized by these energies. Social interactions may be intense or could provoke intense feelings. Changes in financial or relationship status could occur now. Resentments and issues that have been brewing in a close relationship come to the surface, disrupting the peace. All of our relationships intensify, and people can be more compulsive and demanding. This is an “all or nothing” energy. Manipulative behavior, fear of betrayal, and power struggles are possible.
Mars quincunx Jupiter. We tend to take on too much–either expend too much energy or overestimate our capabilities–during this transit. Poor timing is possible now, as we may be out of synch with our instincts and natural rhythm.
Venus trine Saturn. Affections stabilize and mature. Maturity with others allows us to take the bad with the good, and finds us seeing our relationships realistically. Small advances can be made in business and in partnerships through strengthening and bonding. Support from older people or authority figures may come by way of solid advice or more tangible help. Renewed ties to old friends are possible, or a new sense of responsibility can be felt in existing friendships. Business sense is good.
Sun semi-square Pluto. A tendency to want to control our lives through some form of manipulation is strong during this influence. Meeting with obstacles in our paths, however, can force us into the position of using all of our resources to fight back, and we can discover resources we never knew we had in the process.
Mercury sesquiquadrate Uranus. We can have flashes of insight, but tend to be scatterbrained. Our ideas and communications may not be well-received because they don’t seem to others to carry weight. Our minds are not peaceful or harmonious under this influence, and irritable tempers, sarcastic speech, and dogmatism are negative expressions of this energy. However, fresh and creative ideas may come to us now.
Sun trine Chiron. A sense of purpose or a “mission” is with us now, increasing our confidence. The desire to learn and grow through experiences and through others is strong. Problem solving is favored.
Mercury trine Jupiter. Looking for meaning in mundane affairs, positive thinking, insights, cooperation–these are themes of this influence. Our ideas are big and our intentions noble. We might receive good news or offers now. We prefer to think about the big picture rather than becoming bogged down with details. This transit favors short trips, writing, teaching, studying, submitting applications and forms, accurate diagnoses and observations (all things equal).
Venus opposition Jupiter. The love nature is strong, but given to extremes. Over-inflated expectations and the tendency to overstate our affections are things to watch out for. We may overvalue something (or someone), perhaps in order to add more drama to our lives, or to feel bigger than life. We are sociable, in the mood to party, dramatic, extravagant, and inclined to overindulge as a result of this inner discontent and desire for more from life than daily routines.

DECEMBER 3
With a Venus-Pluto square this morning, our personal plans and ambitions can feel at odds, causing some tension. There can be obstacles to clear as we wrestle with our fears. This transit can accentuate or stimulate our insecurities, bringing suspicions and jealousies to the surface. Jealous and possessive feelings are directly proportional to fear of losing something or someone. We can be worried about betrayal or being in the dark about a matter. Social interactions may be intense or could provoke intense feelings. It can be exceedingly easy to trigger sensitive points, but what works us up can be very revealing to those on a self-discovery journey.
Mars and Jupiter form a quincunx this afternoon, also stirring discontent but in a different way. We can feel out of sync with our instincts and natural rhythm. We could have trouble making decisions or find it challenging to integrate one strong desire with another. Circumstances are such that we need to assess where we’ve been putting too much–or too little–energy. Poor timing is possible, and reshuffling our focus and prioritizing can be necessary.
The Moon is void from 9:12 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Venus), until the Moon enters Virgo at 10:51 PM EST.
DECEMBER 4
Venus enters Scorpio today and will continue this transit until the 29th. It’s a highly emotional and passionate position for Venus. We seek projects, pleasures, and relationships that involve, absorb, or consume us in the weeks ahead. Fear of being too vulnerable or of giving up our power to others can heighten. However, we’re especially adept at handling money and resources during this cycle. We gravitate to absorbing, deeply engaging, dramatic pleasures, activities, projects, and art. Profound, disturbing, mysterious, or unusual things can be more appealing now. Today’s Sun-Jupiter biquintile motivates us to grow and improve, although we should watch for posturing rather than embracing change. This transit also encourages us to view what’s happening in a positive light. It helps us see patterns more clearly. We’re interested in making the best of our circumstances now.
DECEMBER 5
The Moon spends another day in the sign of Virgo, encouraging our desire to help, sort, excel at work, analyze, and organize. The Last Quarter Moon is exact as the Sun in Sagittarius forms a square with the Virgo Moon early today, signaling a time to review and sort rather than push something new. Until after next week’s New Moon, it’s a better time to tie up loose ends, take inventory, and let go if necessary. We might consider our recent revelations, what they mean to us, and what’s our possible next step.
A Venus-Saturn trine today also motivates us to sort things out, especially our feelings. We’re approaching love, relationships, money, or pleasure-seeking in a more mature, responsible, and level-headed way. It’s a good time for stabilizing relations and demonstrating our affection through practical support, service, and shows of loyalty. This influence reminds us of the value of constancy and reliability. It tends to generate a realistic and perhaps materialistic view of our relationships. We’re enjoying our responsibilities, work, or duties more than usual. The Sun’s semi-square to Pluto complicates things somewhat: it suggests some struggle to let go of the inconsequential. We might crave a sense of control over events, relationships, and circumstances, becoming frustrated at any sign that we don’t have it.
DECEMBER 6
Neptune stations and turns direct today after retrograde motion since June 30th. In the weeks ahead, we may begin to face some illusions we’ve held onto, confusing situations become clearer, and our creativity soars, or at least, we are more inclined to apply our creativity in the real world. We have more faith in our dreams and visions, others, and belief systems. Increasingly, we seek inspiration from external sources. Instead of thinking of this period as a time of disillusionment, we can see it as a time of illumination–when we increasingly see the light. However, with Neptune at a station today, we may have difficulty focusing long enough to tackle a task adequately. Mercury’s sesquiquadrate to Uranus this morning scatters our focus further. We should watch for scattering our energies or taking on too many activities at once–we could be looking so far ahead that we forget the important details or disclaimers.
The Moon is void from 8:51 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Pluto), until the Moon enters Libra at 11:35 AM EST.
DECEMBER 7
The Moon spends the day in Libra, encouraging fairness, objectivity, and our people skills. Two boosting trines occur today, also pointing to ease and flow. First, the Sun harmonizes with Chiron, and we see the opportunities to learn, grow, and improve, mainly through spontaneity, self-assertion, and courage. With less concern about who’s right or wrong, we’re open to learning and growing. Our egos don’t get in the way, helping us make real progress. The chance to find a sense of purpose or a “mission” can arise now, increasing our confidence. Second, with Mercury’s trine to Jupiter, we might gain a positive outlook through conversations and a sense of hope or trust in the future. Big-picture thinking benefits us. We seek a little extra meaning to our projects and experiences. Our ideas are big, and our intentions are noble. We might receive good news or offers, and curiosity stirs.
DECEMBER 8
The Moon continues its transit of Libra until 10:36 PM EST. This Moon is relationship-centered, gracious, balanced, and fair. Harmonizing is more important to us than usual with a Libra Moon. Its square to Pluto this evening can mean our fear of betrayal, whether from the universe or a person, can lead to distrust. We should watch for swinging from a desire to be fair to suspicion, which can be confusing. The Moon moves into Scorpio at 10:36 PM, and we find focusing and concentrating far easier. It’s a passionate and determined Moon.
The Moon is void from 8:06 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Pluto), until the Moon enters Scorpio at 10:36 PM EST.
DECEMBER 9
The Moon transits Scorpio all day, awakening a need to tap into our passions and desires. Venus opposes Jupiter today, and the Moon joins Venus, bringing our emotions into the mix. We’re seeking something different or something more, particularly with our pleasures, love, or money matters. However, over-inflated expectations or the tendency to overstate our affections or overvalue things can play with our happiness. Inner discontent and desire for more from life than daily routines can figure strongly. The urge to experience something new or more freedom to explore can express itself as restlessness if we don’t know what we want. This is a better time to make minor adjustments to help free ourselves up for different experiences than it is for big moves, as much as we may want to go over the top. It’s “borrow from the future” energy, and we should be careful not to commit to something for which we don’t yet have the resources.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Leo
The Moon in Leo speaks to our "inner child". It's a warm, generous, whole-heartedly loving position. Pride keeps us from pettiness, but it can also prevent us from opening up and revealing how we are truly feeling. We are on stage, our feelings are grand, and we appreciate some drama in our lives. We are easily threatened by anything that seems to be impersonal. This is a time when we seek attention--when we want to stand out for our special qualities. It's a strong time for romance and any creative activity as well.
The Moon in Leo generally favors the following activities: Creative activities, activities involving children, generous undertakings, undertakings in which personal recognition is desired, and risk-taking.
When the Moon is in Virgo
We instinctually gravitate towards practical activities under the influence of a Virgo Moon. In an urge to set things right, we might easily find ourselves re-organizing and rethinking plans. Emotional satisfaction comes from solving problems, making order out of confusion, and helping others. Health matters might come into focus. We notice the smaller parts that make up the whole, and instead of letting nagging details bother us, we might work on ironing them out so that we can feel more confident moving ahead.
The Moon in Virgo generally favors the following activities: Mental pursuits, work activities, services, and routines. Activities that would benefit from tending to details.
When the Moon is in Libra
Creating order is the focus, not necessarily through tidying or organizing as was the case while the Moon was in Virgo, but rather through pleasing interactions with others and aesthetics in our environment. We tend to solve problems through diplomacy, and we are more able to put aside our own emotions in order to achieve the peace we crave. The tendency now is to avoid direct confrontations. Decisions do not come easily. Seeing both sides to any given situation is the main reason for hesitation. Fear of losing others' approval is another.
The Moon in Libra generally favors the following activities: Relationship and partnership issues, activities involving teamwork and cooperation, activities that involve self-examination, activities related to beauty.
When the Moon is in Scorpio
Intensity is what the Moon in Scorpio is all about. Whether it's passion, elation, sorrow, or desire, emotions are felt on a deeply personal level. We are motivated by the desire to get to the bottom of things, and we instinctively read between the lines. Superficiality won't work for us now. The Moon in Scorpio urges us to uncover our own power, and it's an excellent time to rid ourselves of old fears and limiting habits. It can be an intimate and passionate time. Avoid manipulative tactics, brooding, and suspiciousness.
The Moon in Scorpio generally favors the following activities: Taxes, accounting, intimacy issues, psychological examinations, research, self-examination, getting rid of old things.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Sagittarius You’re now embarking on a trek into a land of dreams – not passive daydreams, but vibrant visions of what may be. The time has come to stop looking at the world as it is and asking why. Now’s the time to imagine the world as it could be, and the question has become: “Why not?” You also cannot do everything you imagine now, but you cannot do anything you don’t KNOW you can do – so believe, and dare to make it happen! This means expanding your mind, your belief system, your whole base of knowledge and experience. Time’s a wastin’ – let no grass grow between your toes!
Mercury in Capricorn Figuring out how to organize projects and people is apt to become a topic of special interest – and a challenge – at a time like this. Opinions are not enough for you now: they must be backed by authority or evidence, and above all they must have practical worth and application. A period of intense study and thought.
Mars in Sagittarius Ideology is a keynote of the new phase you have begun – the power of ideas and the power they wield over people. Religious, cultural, or philosophical controversies and crusades have a way of stirring your blood. Travel and adventure are compelling temptations as you dare to test your mettle and stretch your horizons.
Jupiter in Taurus A kind of Midas touch is signaled by the new cycle now dawning in your life. Prosperity and security take center stage in your thoughts; a gentle but committed conservatism brings you all kinds of good things. Take care of the material things, and the spiritual will take care of itself: that’s your orientation now.
Saturn in Pisces Making peace with the past, coming to terms with karmic debts: these are some of the issues that confront you as a new phase begins in your life. Failure to face these things can cause setbacks and put obstacles in your path. Learn to look beyond the narrowly personal and selfish or you’ll get in over your head.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small, but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone and everyone in their place…
