Daily Trends
The FULL MOON occurs on Tuesday, December 29th, 2020, at 10:28 PM EST.
On Tuesday night, a Full Moon occurs when the Cancer Moon exactly opposes the Capricorn Sun. The Cancer-Capricorn polarity deals with the balance between the private life, domesticity, the need for a home base, and nurturance (represented by Cancer) versus the public life, career, reputation, and accountability (represented by Capricorn).
Attachments and love are ruled by Cancer, while achievements and rewards/punishments are ruled by Capricorn. In some ways, this polarity deals with the balance between unconditional love and conditional love. The Cancer Moon encourages us to value our home base and our roots, while Capricorn persuades us to consider our sense of duty and responsibility along public lines.
While Cancer may most enjoy attaching to the home and family, Capricorn urges us to attend to the responsibilities to the outside world. Neglecting either end of the axis will surely backfire on us. Ideally, a balance should be found between the two energies, and this is what the Full Moon invites us to do.
This Full Moon is about balancing our commitment to our career and families. Something has been building inside of us, and now is the time when the energy of the cosmos fairly demands that we let it out. Over the next two weeks, we will discover what this means for us. For now, we can’t sit on our feelings. We need to express them.
Something is exposed or illuminated, prompting us to get in touch with those things in our personal lives that we may have been neglecting or putting off. With so much attention to our relationships, careers, and personal plans these days, a push for considering our emotional needs occurs now.
The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time–a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.
This is a time to clear up past patterns that have been holding us back from personal fulfillment, particularly those that are home or family-centered or that revolve around our work-home balance and attitudes toward comfort and responsibility.
This Wolf Moon harmonizes with Uranus. It’s a gentle eye-opener. However, Venus is square Neptune and conjunct the South Node, suggesting we should watch for some over-attachment to outdated pleasures, connections, or things.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 8 degrees and 53 minutes of Cancer, affecting people with personal planets and points at approximately 5 to 13 degrees of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) most significantly.

This week: The Sun is in Capricorn; Mercury is in Capricorn; Venus is in Sagittarius; Mars is in Aries.
The Sun is in Capricorn from December 21, 2020-January 19, 2021. We are motivated by feelings of responsibility, ambition, and respect for law and order. Capricorn derives much satisfaction through completion and accomplishment. Standards, structures, and an appreciation for order are Capricorn themes. Capricorn wants tangible results, knows what is feasible and what is not, and is most comfortable working within an established framework and known boundaries or limits. Working towards a long-term goal is most satisfying with this influence.
Mercury is in Capricorn from December 20, 2020-January 8, 2021. When Mercury is in Capricorn, our thinking is methodical and our focus is sober and practical. It is easier to concentrate on the task at hand under this influence. Our conversations may be quite realistic or focused on business/practical matters. Our thought patterns and communication styles become more logical, orderly, and organized. We are more able to sort out what is relevant and essential. Realism enters the picture, our speech is no-nonsense, and precision becomes important to us. We need to be wary of becoming too rigid in our thinking. We may come across as cold or harsh. For some, there is a fine line between realism and pessimism.
Venus is in Sagittarius from December 15, 2020-January 8, 2021. Moving from Scorpio to Sagittarius, romantic energy shifts from intense to buoyant. Sagittarius, of course, has its intense moments, considering it is a fire sign. However, its energy is considerably less focused; and, while Scorpio is most concerned with intimacy with a specific person, Sagittarius’ love is of a more universal kind. Romantic adventures, as well as a straightforward–even blunt–approach to love, are on the agenda. Gone are the intricacy and complexity of Venus in Scorpio. Truth and higher meaning are things that take priority with Sagittarius.
Mars is in Aries from June 27, 2020, to January 6, 2021. [This is longer than usual due to the retrograde of Mars from September 9-November 13, 2020.] Mars feels at home in one of the signs that it rules, Aries, and therefore its power is boosted. Our energy is spontaneous, forward-looking, and even courageous under this influence. Our competitive spirit is well-developed, and our goal is to win! We are active, single-minded, and confident. Our actions are direct–we instinctively find the fastest way to get from point A to point B. The shadow side of Mars in Aries is a tendency to be impatient, arrogant, impulsive, short-lived, unreflective, and self-centered.
Jupiter entered Aquarius on the 19th. Read more about the Jupiter in Aquarius transit.
Saturn entered Aquarius on December 17th. In 2020, Saturn divided its time between the signs of Capricorn and Aquarius. Saturn transited Capricorn until March 21, 2020; and then finished up its transit from July 1 to December 17, 2020. Saturn transited Aquarius from March 21 to July 1, 2020, and from December 17th, 2020, until March 7, 2023. Read about Saturn’s transit of Aquarius.
Uranus is in Taurus. Uranus transits Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and then from March 6th, 2019, until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle.
There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Sagittarius from December 15, 2020, to January 8, 2021. As Venus moves from Scorpio to Sagittarius, romantic energy changes from intense to buoyant. Sagittarius, of course, has its intense moments, considering it is a fire sign. However, its energy is considerably less focused; and, while Scorpio is most concerned with intimacy with a specific person, Sagittarius’ love is of a more universal kind. Romantic adventures and a straightforward–even blunt–approach to love are on the agenda. Gone are the intricacy and complexity of the Venus-in-Scorpio phase. Truth and higher meaning are focal points for Sagittarius.
Venus in Sagittarius is forward-looking, not very specific, outgoing, and energetic. Freedom is most important in our love relationships now. We take a happy and enthusiastic approach to love, and we might find too much intensity or seriousness depressing. We have a taste for the exotic as well as for adventure with Venus in Sagittarius.
This position’s shadow side is restlessness, the inability to “settle down,” and endless searching for something bigger and “better.”
This week: We may be wrestling with our expectations in love on Sunday through Wednesday. We may not be seeing things clearly when our hearts are involved. It’s hard to know what or who to believe with wishful thinking distorting our perceptions temporarily.
On Wednesday and Thursday, encounters can feel fateful. We are more sensitive to whether or not some relationships (or elements of our relationships) are good for us. Friday finds us a bit resistant to getting close, but by Saturday, January 2nd, we’re investing more energy and pride in harmonizing and connecting.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Sagittarius A yearning for adventure and far horizons stirs in you now. To roam, to wander and wonder, to seek freedom and go where no one has gone before – these things are deep and powerful longings. A time of romantic crusades, a universal love that might not be too particular.
Venus semi-square Pluto December 22. Tendencies to look for something wrong in a relationship. Jealousy raises its ugly head.
Venus semi-square Saturn December 27-28. Feelings of isolation, of not getting what we really want, and of not being loved the way we want to be loved can get in the way of pleasant relations with our partners.
Venus semi-square Jupiter December 28-29. We experience a strong desire for more pleasure in our lives, which can be excessive. Take care not to overstate your feelings or to set up unrealistic expectations in your partnerships.
Venus square Neptune December 29-30. Relationship ups and downs characterize this transit–a time when romantic mirages are more than likely. We see what we hope to see, rather than what really is. The “highs” of a relationship begun under this energy may be thrilling, but the accompanying “lows” are bound to set in, and they can be extremely draining. Be careful not to set yourself up for disappointment.
Venus conjunct South Node December 30.31. This is a time for reviewing our attachments in terms of whether they are contributing to our growth.
Venus parallel Pluto December 30.31. The desire for drama and intensity in relationships is with us. Love feelings and relationship issues can be all-consuming now, assuming more importance in our lives than usual. Interactions with others are intense now, and themes of sharing and trust dominate in relationships.
Venus sesquiquadrate Uranus January 1. Uncertainty about the desire to be close to someone. Freedom versus closeness. A desire to experiment in the romance department may be fleeting and ultimately unsatisfying or frustrating.
Venus parallel the Sun January 2-3. A strong desire for harmony and comfort fill us now. We may be moved to express our affections.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Monday, December 28th, from 10:02 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Mars), until the Moon enters Cancer the next day, Tuesday, December 29th, at 5:29 AM EST.
VOC Moon on Thursday, December 31st, from 8:46 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Mars), until the Moon enters Leo at 1:59 PM EST.
VOC Moon on Saturday, January 2nd, from 5:00 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Mars), until the Moon enters Virgo at 8:13 PM EST.

Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
The Moon is waxing this week until the Full Moon on the 29th, which is generally considered favorable for new beginnings, with exceptions. After the Full Moon on the 29th, the Moon is waning, which is generally considered unfavorable for new beginnings, again with exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details).
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs from approximately 3:30 AM EST on Friday, January 1st, 2021, until approximately 4:55 PM EST on Saturday, January 2nd, while the Moon is in Leo. This is a highly creative window.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Sun trine Uranus. An original, unique approach to life is in order with this transit, and works to our benefit. Flexibility is the key to success at this time, and pleasant changes are in store. We may make some creative changes and discoveries, experiment with new possibilities, or invent a new way of doing things. This is a dynamic and exciting period, one in which taking advantage of unusual or unconventional opportunities may reap rewards.
Venus semi-square Saturn. There may be difficulties relating to others under this influence. People may be cool with their affections and emotionally distant. Avoid new financial undertakings, as they may prove to be “money pits” as time passes. There may be anxiety or troubles with regards to matters concerned with the feelings. Romantic disappointments, unrequited love, separations, and broken engagements are the more negative manifestations. We tend to lack social confidence at this time and adopt a shy, formal, or reserved social manner. This transit is best used for reflection.
Venus semi-square Jupiter. We might take great strides to get noticed. Avoid impulsive buying. Problems in our personal life likely won’t get resolved under this influence. Avoid hasty (or haughty!) decisions. We might overstate our feelings or promise more than we can deliver, and the tendency to overdo is strong.
Venus square Neptune. Relationship ups and downs characterize this transit – a time when romantic mirages are more than likely. We see what we hope to see, rather than what really is. The “highs” of a relationship begun under this energy may be thrilling, but the accompanying “lows” are bound to set in, and they can be extremely draining. Be careful not to set yourself up for disappointment. The same goes for finances – what appears to be a great buy is likely to turn out to be a financial drain or money pit. Lines can blur when it comes to pursuit of pleasure, as we can convince ourselves to believe what we want to believe.
Mercury sextile Neptune. Intuition runs high; we are more sensitive artistically; imagination is stirred; and we have an increased appreciation for subtleties. We are inspired and we are able to inspire others with our words.
Venus sesquiquadrate Uranus. Unusual attractions (to people and things) can have us acting on a whim. We may deal with freedom versus closeness issues in our relationships. Relationships or finances can be unpredictable. Changes now can create fresh opportunities, however, that can add to our sense of joy and freedom.
Note: Times given in the table/calendar above are Eastern Time (ET).

DECEMBER 27
The Moon spends the day in Gemini., and we’re focused on living in the moment. We’re communicative, connected, and curious. The Sun forms a quintile to Neptune and a trine to Uranus. Flexibility is the key to success, and pleasant changes are in store today. These aspects bring out the visionary in us. We might make some creative changes and discoveries or experiment with new possibilities. Unique or unconventional opportunities might emerge. An original approach to life is appealing and works to our benefit. Transits today can serve to detach us just enough to embrace change or move forward in some manner. It’s also a good day for creative exchanges and ideas. We’re incredibly open to experimenting with new ways of relating and enjoying ourselves, and we’re more gracious than usual.
DECEMBER 28
A Venus-Saturn semi-square today can point to possible diffidence in our interactions. We may be cool with our sentiments and emotionally distant. Anxiety or troubles regarding matters concerned with the feelings and affections are likely. Although it’s a clumsy aspect, the second half of the day is vital for enthusiasm and energetic communications, although not great for follow-through. This tendency is due to the Moon in Gemini forming a sextile to Mars in Aries. We can be clever with words and possibly a little sharp or abrupt. The Moon is in Gemini all day, stimulating our desire to mingle, connect, chat, and learn.
The void Moon occurs from 10:02 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Mars), until the Moon enters Cancer tomorrow, Tuesday, December 29th, at 5:29 AM EST.
DECEMBER 29
Venus forms a semi-square with Jupiter this morning, and we may feel restless with entertainment and pleasures or in our relationships. When it comes to people and things, we should watch that we aren’t idealizing what we don’t have or something new and fresh rather than honoring what we already have. It can be a time of dramatic statements or impulsive purchases. The tendency to overdo is present, although not overpowering. We can also tap into a need for change and improvement and tame our impulses to go overboard. The Moon continues its transit of Gemini until it enters Cancer at 5:29 AM EST, ending its void status. With the Cancer Moon, home, family, and familiar settings or situations appeal more than usual. Tonight, a Full Moon occurs in the sign. The Sun opposes the Cancer Moon at 10:28 PM, and it’s a time of culmination and heightened awareness. We can become especially aware of any over-attachment we might have to outdated pleasures, connections, or things. The need for family, nurturing, safety, and comfort are strong.
The void Moon continues until the Moon enters Cancer today at 5:29 AM EST.
DECEMBER 30
Venus and Neptune form a square this morning, casting a veil over our needs, wants, and perceptions. We may be dreaming up the ideal, which can clash with reality. We can lack some discrimination, particularly regarding people we care about, our relationships, and material things. We should make an effort to separate fact from fiction so that we don’t set ourselves up for disappointment. What appears to be a great buy or something we really need may very well turn out to be useless to us, or worse, a financial drain or money pit. Lines can blur when it comes to the pursuit of pleasure, as we can convince ourselves to believe what we want to believe. We’re likely too close to the situation. Examining discontent experienced now may be an opportunity to identify where we’ve neglected our spiritual, idealistic, romantic, or imaginative needs. The Moon continues its transit of Cancer all day. Its more defensive side may surface with Mercury under strain this morning, but the Cancer Moon is also protective and warm. We’re seeking comfort and safety, and home or family matters are in stronger focus than usual.
DECEMBER 31
Venus aligns with the true South Node of the Moon in Sagittarius today, and it also forms a square to Vesta and parallel to Pluto. Encounters or relationship events can feel fateful. We are more sensitive to whether or not some connections (or elements of our relationships) support our growth. There may be difficulties showing affection or problems with commitments in relationships now. We might experience creativity blocks or inhibitions. Watch for a tendency to fall back on behaviors and indulgences that keep us distant from our true feelings and needs. The Moon continues its transit of Cancer until 1:59 PM EST, forming a square to Mars before moving on to affectionate, proud Leo. We seek comfort and familiarity with a Cancer Moon, although this may conflict with our desire for new experiences. We should make extra effort to respect and validate others when expressing what we need and want.
The void Moon occurs from 8:46 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Mars), until the Moon enters Leo at 1:59 PM EST.
JANUARY 1
Mercury forms a sextile to Neptune this morning, stirring our imagination. We can experience a sense of knowing and understanding with minimal explanation or instruction. Intuition is highlighted or awakened, and we apply it to practical matters creatively. We appreciate subtleties, which aids our understanding of others and situations. We are more readily inspired, and we might inspire others with our words. There is psychic openness in our interactions, and our communications are notably gentler or more compassionate. A Venus-Uranus minor square later today suggests some restlessness or discontent with our current pleasures or pastimes, and a small change may be satisfying at this time. The Moon spends the day in the sign of Leo, stimulating our desire to reach out and share ourselves with others in heartfelt ways. Satisfaction comes from pride in our actions and creations.
JANUARY 2
The Moon continues its transit of Leo until 8:13 PM EST, harmonizing with Venus in Sagittarius and Mars in Aries. This grand trine in Fire signs spurs us on and encourages the playful pursuit of our desires. We can feel inspired to create something unique. From 8:13 PM forward, the Moon transits humble, helpful Virgo. We seek nourishment from others, and we tend to more naturally support others in turn. We take pride in these efforts today with the Sun sextile Ceres. Needs and cravings seem to be in harmony. With Mercury trine Vesta, we can feel pleasantly dedicated to our work or ideas. We are more able to focus on what we’re doing and communicating, and we’re especially inclined to notice and consider details.
The void Moon occurs from 5:00 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Mars), until the Moon enters Virgo at 8:13 PM EST.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Gemini
Our basic instinct is to communicate, think, and learn under the influence of Moon in Gemini. We are motivated by a desire for variety and by an instinctive curiosity. The Moon in Gemini is light-hearted, breezy, spirited, and curious, but it can also be restless and fickle.
The Moon in Gemini generally favors the following activities: Mental and communicative actions, and more than one activity at once. Reading, learning, letters and emails, errands, writing, teaching, making connections, cafes, light and airy meetings, short trips.
When the Moon is in Cancer
The restlessness of the Gemini Moon gives way to an instinctive need for peace and quiet. A feeling of belonging and safety is what motivates us under this influence. The Moon feels right at home in the sign of Cancer, as it rules the sign. This Moon position has much healing potential. Although insular by nature, our feelings run deep, making it an ideal time to get in touch with what motivates us.
The Moon in Cancer generally favors the following activities: Domestic activities, those that involve awareness of personal needs. Home decor, family get-togethers.
When the Moon is in Leo
The Moon in Leo speaks to our "inner child". It's a warm, generous, whole-heartedly loving position. Pride keeps us from pettiness, but it can also prevent us from opening up and revealing how we are truly feeling. We are on stage, our feelings are grand, and we appreciate some drama in our lives. We are easily threatened by anything that seems to be impersonal. This is a time when we seek attention--when we want to stand out for our special qualities. It's a strong time for romance and any creative activity as well.
The Moon in Leo generally favors the following activities: Creative activities, activities involving children, generous undertakings, undertakings in which personal recognition is desired, and risk-taking.
When the Moon is in Virgo
We instinctually gravitate towards practical activities under the influence of a Virgo Moon. In an urge to set things right, we might easily find ourselves re-organizing and rethinking plans. Emotional satisfaction comes from solving problems, making order out of confusion, and helping others. Health matters might come into focus. We notice the smaller parts that make up the whole, and instead of letting nagging details bother us, we might work on ironing them out so that we can feel more confident moving ahead.
The Moon in Virgo generally favors the following activities: Mental pursuits, work activities, services, and routines. Activities that would benefit from tending to details.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Capricorn You see what’s wrong and you know what to do now: the time has come to make it real, and it’s a lot bigger than any one person. This means cooperation and organization, authority and discipline, responsibility – and all these things are what it takes to get you where you know you must go. But take care! If your vision is only for yourself, what you create cannot last: it must be for some greater good. Ambition, practicality, and achievement are admirable, but they are means to an end – not ends in themselves.
Mercury in Capricorn Figuring out how to organize projects and people is apt to become a topic of special interest – and a challenge – at a time like this. Opinions are not enough for you now: they must be backed by authority or evidence, and above all, they must have practical worth and application. A period of intense study and thought.
Venus in Sagittarius A yearning for adventure and far horizons stirs in you now. To roam, to wander and wonder, to seek freedom and go where no one has gone before – these things are deep and powerful longings. A time of romantic crusades, a universal love that might not be too particular.
Mars in Aries Fresh challenges and initiatives light your fires now, as a new cycle begins in your life – lots of energy, a powerful urge to be first, or come out on top. Away with the old and on to the new – let no one and nothing stand between you and your objective! Headstrong impulses and rash courage can take you far … sometimes in harm’s way if you’re not careful.
Jupiter in Aquarius Innovation, reform, and idealism are your paths to growth and gain now. New, futuristic ideas are part of this, but it’s more than that: putting them into practice is essential because this is much more than empty idealism. A break from the past, a willingness to flaunt convention.
Saturn in Aquarius Ideals are in for a period of testing, as a new phase begins in your life. What are principles worth, unless they are put into practice? That’s an important question for you now. This could mean you may be disappointed by causes you believe in – but if you abandon your principles, you lose.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone, and everyone in their place…
