Daily Trends
The LAST QUARTER MOON occurs on Sunday, April 4, 2021, at 6:02 AM EDT.
On Sunday morning, the Last Quarter Moon is exact, when the Sun in Aries forms a square with the Moon in Capricorn.
The Last Quarter Moon phase points to a crisis of consciousness. After basking in the awareness symbolized by the full light of the Moon at the time of last week’s Full Moon, we disperse our knowledge and come to a point when we need to sort out what works for us–and what doesn’t–in preparation for next week’s New Moon, when something new is born once again.
This is not the best time to start a major project, as the decreasing light of the Moon symbolizes a descent into unconsciousness. It’s time to begin finishing up the details of that which was conceived at the last New Moon. What revelations did you have last week? What did they mean to you? What can be done now?
This phase of the Moon occurs at 14 degrees and 51 minutes of Capricorn square the Sun at 14 degrees and 51 minutes of Aries, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 13 to 17 degrees of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) most significantly.

This week: The Sun is in Aries; Mercury is in Aries; Venus is in Aries; Mars is in Gemini.
The Sun is in Aries from March 20 to April 19. In Aries, the Sun is enthusiastic and spontaneous. We are motivated by the desire to conquer. We are more impulsive and have the urge to initiate. Aries is a sign that bounces back quickly–there is little shame with Aries. It is brave and pioneering, and somewhat innocent. We are direct and rather uncomplicated in our needs, but we can also be short-sighted and lack the desire to plan ahead.
Mercury is in Aries from April 3 to 19. When Mercury is in Aries, we are less concerned with objective viewpoints and explanations, and more concerned with reaching a decision…quickly! Our thoughts and ideas are pioneering, and we tend to speak more spontaneously and directly with the planet of communication in bold and assertive Aries.
Venus is in Aries from March 21 to April 14. In Aries, love is spontaneous and direct. The chase is exhilarating to us under this fiery influence. We are bold, fresh, and a little impatient with matters of the heart. We don’t look back with Aries energy. We are not interested in saying sorry or dwelling on the past. It’s a brand new day! It’s time to make things work right now. Aries is known for a love of the chase and the conquest, but Aries love can be longstanding if it remains fresh. Aries is blunt–there’s no sugar-coating, which can sting, but rarely is Aries energy mean or petty. Saying it “like it is” is vital to Aries. Desires are strong and expressed spontaneously, enthusiastically, and directly. Aries prefers to seduce rather than be seduced, to chase rather than be chased.
Mars is in Gemini from March 3 to April 23. In Gemini, Mars is considerably more versatile and flexible–and substantially less determined and focused! Our interests become more diversified, possibly to the point of going off on so many tangents that we are scattered and ineffective. It’s an excellent time for strategizing and devising useful tactics to achieve our desires and goals. We’re resourceful and clever, and we know how to use words effectively–possibly using words as weapons! We’re quick on our feet and intelligent with plans and strategy.
Jupiter is in Aquarius from December 19th, 2020, to May 13, 2021, and then from July 28 to December 28, 2021. Read more about the Jupiter in Aquarius transit.
Saturn transits Aquarius from March 21 to July 1, 2020, and from December 17th, 2020, until March 7, 2023. Read about Saturn’s transit of Aquarius.
Uranus is in Taurus. Uranus transits Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and then from March 6th, 2019, until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle.
There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Aries from March 21 to April 14. In Aries, love is spontaneous and direct. The chase is very exciting to us under this fiery influence. We are bold, fresh, and a little impatient with matters of the heart. We don’t look back with Aries energy. We are not interested in saying sorry or dwelling on the past. It’s a brand new day! It’s time to make things work right now.
Aries is known for a love of the chase and the conquest, but Aries love can be longstanding as long as it remains relatively fresh. Aries is blunt–there’s no sugar-coating with Aries. This can sting, but rarely is Aries energy mean or petty. Saying it “like it is” is vital to Aries. Desires are strong and expressed spontaneously, enthusiastically, and directly. Aries prefers to seduce rather than be seduced, to chase rather than be chased.
This week: On Sunday, the 4th, we’re especially open to growing and learning from love and one another. We’re proud of our relationships or ability to harmonize on the 5-6 (Monday and Tuesday). This is also a great time for playfulness, flirtation, and having fun with one another. We’re using a balanced combination of attraction and pursuit for achieving what we want. We’re throwing more of ourselves into what we are pursuing or doing now, and we’re more likely to connect passionately or romantically than usual.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Aries Romance at the drop of a hat is part and parcel of the cycle you have just begun. Winning the hearts of others can be a challenge you’re eager to accept – and the thrill of the chase might be most of the fun. Is it the pursuit of happiness – or the happiness of pursuit?
Venus sextile North Node March 30-31. There is a stronger desire to connect to and belong with others at this time. We are more obliging and sociable.
Venus parallel Chiron April 3 to 4. Healing energy is brought to love relationships, and a new cycle begins. A commitment-friendly transit. Love can heal old wounds. We are open to romantic feelings, and more willing to act upon them. This is a good time to make a resolution to repair, heal, and improve relationships.
Venus parallel the Sun April 5 to 6. A strong desire for harmony and comfort fill us now. We may be moved to express our affections.
Venus sextile Mars April 5 to 6. This points to success and ease in close personal interactions. We are passionate and sexy. It is a good time for financial ventures, social life, artistic pursuits, romance, and pleasure. We are now able to take the initiative and to achieve harmony and sexual fulfillment. This influence brings satisfaction to the feelings. We may make permanent ties or relationships that prove to be fruitful and fortunate.
Venus sextile Jupiter April 9 to 10. This aspect generates a happy, friendly, and optimistic attitude. People are a little more outgoing and sociable. Favors travel, education, and culture. Romantic opportunities. Harmony and good will.
Venus square Pluto April 11. Intense passions, but there’s a hidden agenda. Jealousy and possessiveness are high, in direct proportion to fear of losing partnership. Avoid starting a new relationship at this time, because it can be characterized by these energies.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Monday, April 5th, from 3:05 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Pluto), until the Moon enters Aquarius at 9:04 AM EDT.
VOC Moon on Wednesday, April 7th, from 6:05 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Pisces at 4:30 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Friday, April 9th, from 7:48 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Pluto), until the Moon enters Aries the next day, Saturday, April 10th, at 2:11 AM EDT.
April 2021:
Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
The Moon is waning this week, which is generally considered unfavorable for new beginnings, with some exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details).
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a somewhat favorable window of opportunity occurs from Sunday, April 4th, at approximately 11:35 AM EDT, until Monday, April 5th, at approximately 3:00 AM EDT, while the Moon is in Capricorn.
A better window occurs from approximately 7:00 AM EDT on Tuesday, April 6th, until aproximately 6:00 AM EDT on Wednesday, April 7th, while the Moon is in Aquarius.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Venus sextile Mars. This points to success and ease in close personal interactions. We are feeling passionate, warm, expressive, lively and sexy. Our creativity and desire to make something beautiful is stimulated now.
Jupiter semi-square Chiron. This can be a time when we are hungry for meaning and understanding, but it can be difficult to align ourselves with a personal philosophy or belief system that truly reflects our core. We might be led astray by beliefs and ideas now, or we might experience some form of crisis of faith. It is important to look within and come to a greater understanding of what we truly need or believe, rather than blindly following something that doesn’t truly serve our purpose. New business endeavors may require a closer look before pushing forward.
Mercury conjunct Chiron. Our intuitive understanding increases. This influence can stimulate us to open our minds and to learn from circumstances and from others. Sudden awareness spurs us to grow and improve. We are also more open to new ways of looking at problems or at life in general. There may be some hyper-sensitivity to what is communicated now, however.
Mercury semi-square Jupiter. We experience information overload, and we neglect to consider details. People tend to exaggerate today. Monotonous mental tasks are harder to take under this influence. Our minds are restless.
Mars square Neptune. Inspiration comes from unusual sources, but you have a hard time staying focused and organized. Energy may be variable. Intuition is strong, but may be faulty. Not a good time to begin a new project or affair.
Mercury sextile Saturn. A good time to get organized, to do detail work, and to prepare for the future. Decisions made now tend to be practical and well thought out. Work done now will have tangible results in the future.
Venus sextile Jupiter. Cooperation, consideration for others, cheerfulness, positive attitude towards relationships, romantic opportunities, harmony. Favors financial endeavors. Optimistic spiritual energy is brought to relationships. We tend to connect to a higher purpose regarding our personal relationships and our values, attaching meaning to them. We may enjoy a feeling of well-being now. Ease is experienced in social situations. We are freer with our affections (and our money). This is also a favorable transit for entertaining and socializing.

APRIL 4
The Moon spends the day in the sign of Capricorn. This morning, the Last Quarter Moon occurs when the Aries Sun forms a square with the Capricorn Moon. Our sense of responsibility or the right/mature path can conflict with our personal plans. During this week before the New Moon, it’s not ideal to start a major project. Rather, it’s time to begin finishing up details and tying up loose ends. We can channel the quarter Moon’s crisis-oriented energy into productiveness, or we can stress ourselves out. The Capricorn Moon is responsible, astute, and security-oriented, and today’s Sun and Venus parallels with Chiron open us up to learning and healing.
APRIL 5
The Moon continues its transit of Capricorn until 9:04 AM EDT when it enters Aquarius. With the Aquarius Moon, we thrive on intellectual stimulation, progress, and unusual or unconventional experiences. We’re especially earnest, friendly, and principled. We take more interest in our social life and new ideas, particularly with the Moon’s sextile to Mercury. Conversations stand out, and shared interests are a likely topic. Friends, community, groups, causes, and happiness goals can be in sharper focus now.
The void Moon occurs from 3:05 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Pluto), until the Moon enters Aquarius at 9:04 AM EDT.
APRIL 6
Venus forms a sextile to Mars this morning, and we take a creative approach to our relationships and projects. This transit supports flow and ease in close personal interactions without sacrificing engagement. We can make connections that prove fruitful and fortunate, and business relationships and pursuits can prosper. We might express our affections through our actions, and we can feel compelled to create something beautiful. We are also more interactive and charming than usual. This afternoon, Jupiter forms a semi-square to Chiron–the first of three (the next two will occur in August and November). It can be a time when we are hungry for meaning and understanding, but it can be difficult to align ourselves with a personal philosophy or belief system that truly reflects our core. We might be led astray by beliefs and ideas now, or we might experience some form of crisis of faith. It is essential to look within and come to a greater understanding of what we truly need or believe, rather than blindly following something that doesn’t truly serve our purpose. New business endeavors may require a closer look before pushing forward. The Moon spends the day in Aquarius. While the Moon-Saturn alignment feels heavy or serious, we’re inclined to seek intellectual stimulation and unusual or unconventional experiences. The Aquarius Moon is friendly, progressive, and intelligent.
APRIL 7
The Moon continues its transit of Aquarius until 4:30 PM EDT, aligning with Jupiter this morning. We’re embracing our unique side or social life and reaching for our joy, seeking to grow, expand, and improve. Our imagination and idealism are active. The desire to connect and make others happy is strong. The Moon heads into the sign of Pisces at 4:30 PM, bringing on gentle, creative, and compassionate energy. A Mars-Pluto biquintile today suggests we’re willing to challenge ourselves, and we use plans and strategies to achieve what we desire.
The void Moon occurs from 6:05 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Pisces at 4:30 PM EDT.
APRIL 8
The Moon spends the day in the sign of Pisces, awakening our need for spiritual refreshment or an escape of sorts from everyday life. It’s a better time to wind down, decompress, and access our intuition. Mercury is approaching a conjunction to Chiron, exact early tomorrow, and while revelations can be messy, this influence opens us up to learning and healing. It encourages us to open our minds and learn from one another and our circumstances. Sudden awareness spurs us to grow and improve. We are incredibly open to new ways of looking at problems or life, in general, and we’re more sensitive than usual to communication nuances.
APRIL 9
There can be a strong tendency to misjudge matters today. This morning, Mercury forms a semi-square to Jupiter, impacting our perceptions and decision-making as we try to make sense of the information before us and attempt to find meaning in it. We tend to inflate the positive of a situation. We may feel a little overwhelmed with information or, on the other side of things, overlook essential details. There’s a tendency to exaggerate or dramatize as tedious mental tasks are especially difficult to digest. Mars forms a square to Neptune today, and we may want to watch for a tendency to hook into an impractical venture. This transit emphasizes the uncertain, deceptive, or escapist tendencies of today’s Neptune-ruled Moon. With Mars-Neptune, we may struggle to focus on our priorities, and energy may be up and down, particularly if inspiration wavers. Motivation or energy levels may wane as we can feel overwhelmed with possibilities and uncertain about our next step. It’s temporary, and a break from the action or detour can ultimately help redirect us.
The void Moon occurs from 7:48 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Pluto), until the Moon enters Aries tomorrow, Saturday, April 10th, at 2:11 AM EDT.
APRIL 10
The Moon finishes its transit of Pisces at 2:11 AM EDT and enters Aries. With the Aries Moon, we want to start fresh or take action. Mercury forms a sextile to Saturn this morning, and we gravitate toward practical thoughts and conversations. It’s generally a time for speaking more spontaneously and directly with Mercury in bold and assertive Aries. However, with today’s Mercury-Saturn transit, it’s easier to direct our mental energy into something constructive. This transit helps ground our thinking and expectations. We seek to be mentally prepared, desiring more order and organization in our lives. A Venus-Jupiter sextile this afternoon takes care of our mood and encourages us to loosen up as we tap into our spirit for enjoyment. This is a soft, pleasant influence that promotes cooperation, acceptance, inclusiveness, and optimism, particularly in our relationships. We are freer and more generous with our affection, time, and money. This is one of the favorite transits for entertaining and socializing. We’re bringing optimistic spiritual energy to our lives, and we seek a higher purpose or meaning through our connections and values. Romantic opportunities can emerge, or there can be lucky finds, pleasing purchases, and a hopeful financial outlook or prospects.
The void Moon continues until the Moon enters Aries at 2:11 AM EDT.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Capricorn
We become aware of the need for structure and planning ahead. We also instinctively are aware of the limitations of time. We are motivated by a desire for success. Achievement and manifestation are most important to us now. We are resourceful and don't want to waste time, energy, or resources. This can be a very sober influence--even a depressing one. However, it can also be a productive time when we look reality in the eye.
The Moon in Capricorn generally favors the following activities: Long-term activities that yield slow but steady results, practical undertakings, career issues, making a business plan, practical investments.
When the Moon is in Aquarius
Attraction to all that is new and unusual, and an instinctive need for improvement, characterize the Moon in Aquarius. Reactions are more intellectual than emotional, and interactions are more impersonal than personal, under this influence. This is a time that promotes social gatherings, dealing with group ideals and goals for the future, brainstorming, new ideas, and progressive changes. We are open to new methods of doing things and we have our eye on the future. It can be hard to stick to schedules now, as personal freedom is most important to us.
The Moon in Aquarius generally favors the following activities: Unusual or radical undertakings, social pursuits, group projects, trying something new, joining a group.
When the Moon is in Pisces
We may not want to face reality while the Moon is in dreamy, impressionable Pisces. It can be a wistful, sensitive, intuitive, and compassionate time. We are especially imaginative, and our intuition reigns under this influence. Boundaries and walls come down, as Pisces energy merges and blends. It's a time when details are overlooked and feelings defy description.
The Moon in Pisces generally favors the following activities: Imaginative undertakings, mystical or spiritual pursuits, inner development, music and drama, going on a retreat, activities involving water.
When the Moon is in Aries
We're motivated by a strong desire to start fresh. A gut instinct to begin something new is with us now, as well as the gumption to do so. Our pioneering impulses are strong, and we feel energetic, spontaneous, and enthusiastic. We may also be tactless and impulsive now. Excess energy is best channeled into physical activity.
People can be more self-motivated and also self-focused while the Moon is in Aries. It's a competitive rather than cooperative time. Accidents and tempers flaring are more likely than usual. This period is one of more personal courage.
The Moon in Aries generally favors the following activities: Quick actions that yield immediate results. Undertakings that involve the self and the personality. (Staying power may be lacking). Self-assertion, taking on challenges, beginning short-term projects.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Aries A new sense of self, a more assertive personal style, a more dynamic approach to life: these are the hallmarks of the cycle that begins for you now. Doubts fade into the background, and reserve is more and more a thing of the past. It’s time for action; your destiny is in your hands, rather than set apart. Full speed ahead (“and damn the torpedoes”) is your motto now, for better or for worse!
Mercury in Aries New ideas and an independent or pioneering mental orientation take on more importance in your life at this time. Teaching, learning, communicating, and social contact have a way of outlining new directions in your life now, and there is much activity and involvement with these kinds of issues.
Mars in Gemini Learning, communicating, the exchange of ideas: these are the experiences you crave as a means to make your mark now, as a new phase begins in your life. You’re a person with something to say, and you realize that others have information that is essential to your goals. A time of much mental energy and initiative … perhaps with an element of conflict tossed in for good measure.
Jupiter in Aquarius Innovation, reform, and idealism are your paths to growth and gain now. New, futuristic ideas are part of this, but it’s more than that: putting them into practice is essential because this is much more than empty idealism. A break from the past, a willingness to flaunt convention.
Saturn in Aquarius Ideals are in for a period of testing, as a new phase begins in your life. What are principles worth, unless they are put into practice? That’s an important question for you now. This could mean you may be disappointed by causes you believe in – but if you abandon your principles, you lose.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone, and everyone in their place…
