Horoscopes for the Month
Void of Course Dates this Month
Last month, on March 29th, the New Moon/Solar Eclipse occurred in Aries, and this lunation influences April. It was the final one of a set of six eclipses along the Aries-Libra axis. This Solar eclipse highlights and challenges our issues surrounding independence and personal courage. We might take steps towards self-mastery and self-empowerment by tackling things that undermine us. Circumstances nudge or encourage us to see where we haven’t been true to our authentic selves, and it’s a final push to correct imbalances. Read more about this eclipse on its calendar page.
On April 4th, Saturn forms a sextile with Uranus. This is the first of three perfections; the next two will occur on August 11th, 2025, and on January 20th, 2026. It’s a time when we’re more likely to be doing what we enjoy, and enjoying what we’re doing, mainly related to career, work, and life path matters, but extending to other areas of life. Events occurring now build character, and life lessons are digestible. It’s a period of solid, meaningful progress. This can be a time to solidify connections, bond with allies, and work on the primary structures of our lives. The changes we make can have long-lasting benefits. Original ideas may take form or develop quite successfully now. There is an opportunity to combine stability and improvement or excitement with good results, and the same might be said about innovation and tradition. Read more about Saturn sextile Uranus.
On April 7th, Mercury stations and turns direct after a retrograde cycle since March 15th. While Mercury is retrograde, we are in good shape for reviewing our dreams, ideals, attention to downtime, and humanitarian goals. We may be looking at projects, items, situations, problems, and even people in new ways. Having both Venus and Mercury retrograde in the signs of Aries and Pisces is notable. Note, too, that Mercury returned to the sign of Pisces on March 29th. Read more about this retrograde in its calendar page. In a general sense, retrograde Mercury periods send us to the past for more or previously hidden information. They’re cycles for learning to let go of control, and for thinking about issues in a new way. Information unclogs from April 7th onward.
On April 12th, a Full Moon occurs in the sign of Libra. It brings sudden awareness to our lives, particularly of the need to improve and enhance our relationships. Something is exposed or illuminated, prompting us to get in touch with those things/feelings that we may have been neglecting or putting off. Relationship imbalances and flaws are more noticeable and perhaps even glaring now. We can feel quite inspired to make improvements, coming up with excellent strategies for doing so now.
The Full Moon in Libra awakens us to our feelings, particularly about relationships and social exchanges. It’s an emotional time, and the Venus station and the lunation’s square to Mars can highlight some confusion or impatience surrounding our revelations. Read more about this Full Moon on its calendar page.
On April 12th, Venus stations and turns direct. Until the 12th, retrograde Venus affects us mainly in the areas of love and finances but also extends to some areas of business and pleasurable pursuits. These matters are not straightforward during this period, and it’s a time for reviewing our attitudes and attachments rather than forging ahead boldly into new love relationships or financial projects. Old friends and lovers may reappear, perhaps complicating current relationships, or we might more reminisce about past conditions. There can be a call to deal with relationship issues from the past. It can be a real challenge getting closer to a lover during this period. Unorthodox, experimental, and non-intimate relationships may be in stronger favor. From April 12th, forward, slowly but surely, more clarity comes in the areas of love, finances, personal enjoyment, and pleasurable pursuits.
On April 27th, the New Moon occurs in Taurus, prompting a new beginning. This lunation brings a fresh start to our lives, awakening our needs to take charge, particularly when making ourselves feel more secure and comfortable. It’s a time for re-evaluating our relationship with money and possessions to discover what it is that we truly value and that which genuinely makes us happy and fulfilled. We should concentrate on what we can do to increase our feelings of self-worth and simplify our lives in key ways. This is a time for reconnecting with nature, to our bodies and the world of the five senses. Creative ways of seeing, using, and approaching our personal possessions, valuables, money, and talents are in focus. This lunation has much healing potential.
Taurus New Moons are generally good for getting back in touch with simple and physical pleasures–savoring good food, and enjoying activities that bring us in touch with nature and with our bodies. It’s time to “stop and smell the roses”, and to become more aware of what makes us feel comfortable and secure. We are challenged to be more sensible and possibly conservative in our approach but, at the same time, open to making fundamental changes. We are also challenged to follow through on projects or situations that we may have abandoned or considered dropping if we deem them to be appropriate and worthwhile. We may be dealing with a certain level of stubbornness, both in others and in ourselves. However, it’s an excellent time for connecting with our bodies and with nature through earthy activities, as well as appreciating what we already have. This Month’s Overview Horoscopes
The following horoscopes outline how the above astrological influences might affect each individual sign.
Overview horoscopes fill in here as I write them, ideally during the week before the month begins. It is not unusual to see some signs temporarily missing as I write the twelve of them over the course of a few days, starting with the featured sign of the month (birthday month).
Aries
Even with some retrograde activity this month, dear Aries, it's a time of a personal new beginning. The Sun travels in your sign until the 19th, and you’re in the spotlight. It's a time of more visibility and special attention to your personal plans, needs, hopes, and wishes. Until the 12th, while Venus continues its retrograde, you can be focused on past relationships rather than pushing forward socially. There can be many second thoughts and some back-spinning occurring now. This doesn’t take away from your personal attractiveness and, in some cases, may add to it as you seem a little mysterious or hard to reach! It simply suggests that you may not know what you want. Venus turns direct on the 12th but remains in the sign just behind yours until April 30th, suggesting some natural cautiousness and reticence in the love or affection department. Things will push forward once Venus re-enters your sign, but until then, you’re processing and digesting recent experiences, and you’re not quite ready to make big decisions. Mercury is following a similar path, although Mercury moves more quickly than Venus: Mercury turns direct on the 7th and enters Aries on the 16th. As such, on a communications and mindset level, you're coming into your own and catching up mentally sooner than you are on a heart level. You’re in good shape for clearing out problem areas, even long-standing ones, through benefits to money matters, business, and personal things (material goods). It’s a time for practical yet innovative ways to improve your current financial state or confidence in your talents and self-worth. Meeting with someone or special information that helps you along can figure strongly as Saturn and Uranus harmonize. Just after mid-month features some interesting shifts. By this time, Mercury and Venus have ended their retrogrades. Mercury moves into Aries on the 16th, and Mars moves into harmony with your sign on the 18th after a long hiatus. These put you in a better position to know what (and who) you want, but it’s also a good time to figure out how to get these things! Venus entering Aries on the 30th can help this theme along further. Self-assertion is easy and natural from the 18th forward. Your romantic or creative life can heat up, although there can be some impatience in these areas. You’re seeking playful ways of expressing yourself. Slowly but surely, life feels a little more straightforward in love, pleasure, and comfort. You’re more noticeable, connected, and engaged this month, and your personal impact is considerable. Especially with Mercury’s move into your sign on the 16th, you have more to say and share with others. When pursuing what and who you want, you’re direct, straightforward, and more confident than ever. You’re in an excellent position for decisiveness and credibility–you’re making a mark and leaving an impression. You might prefer to take the lead in mental tasks and make executive decisions. The Full Moon in your partnership sector on the 12th prompts discoveries or epiphanies about your feelings or about a close relationship. If feelings of discontent magnify, they help motivate you to make improvements. Partnerships are changing, and this is a time when your needs for others become more apparent. As the month advances, it becomes more and more about building your resources, manifesting results, and profiting from your talents rather than building your popularity and developing your personality. Around the New Moon on the 27th, aim to start fresh with your money and business goals. The Sun begins its month-long transit of your resources sector on the 19th, and in the weeks following, you’re seeking a little more security and predictability than usual. It’s a good time to take stock, attend to your valuables, and better understand what you can accomplish. Your view of your capabilities is marked and realistic during this stabilizing cycle. Pressures on the home front ease considerably from the 18th. Mars moves into your solar fifth house, ramping up your desires and animating your romantic life or creative world, and it’s a wonderful boost. This shift has been a long time coming! You’re confident and assertive and even more attractive than usual. Relationships are passionate now. You’re alert, ready to make changes, and willing to put yourself out there, and this is a winning combination. You can feel on fire with passion and creative energy, and your timing is much better than usual. |
Taurus
While there can be the need or desire to restore your energy and turn inward at times in April, dear Taurus, personal attraction runs high and you have much to discover on a social level. Especially as April advances, you feel readier to share and enjoy yourself. It’s a powerful period for your plans and initiatives. You’re also going through some exciting inner changes. The Sun spends much of the month in your privacy sector, keeping things low-profile. As well, your planetary ruler, Venus, is retrograde until the 12th. As such, you have some catching up with resting, observing, and reflecting to do. You can feel a strong need for more personal, private, or down time. You’re drawing more upon your intuition and are not as influenced by sources outside of yourself. You’re still inclined to mix and mingle, but you tend to keep a lot to yourself. Getting in touch with your innermost needs and letting go of attitudes and circumstances that no longer serve you well can be especially helpful. Until the 12th, especially, you can be somewhat withdrawn or reserved as you take the time to revise and perhaps question some of your plans. Matters from the past creep up and demand your attention. You might be tempted to bury your feelings in order to concentrate on other areas of life or keep your deeper feelings private. Dealing with past relationships, love triangles, or sacrifices made for a lover can figure strongly in your life. You should watch for secrets surfacing that prompt you to rethink current plans and possibly even alliances. Friendships can enter tricky territory. The resurfacing of issues and perhaps even people from the past can be a theme. It’s a time of introspection, extra time for reflection, and a reassessment of your needs and wants. With a Saturn-Uranus influence, you are respected in your group or circle and might form alliances with people with similar grievances. Focusing on stabilizing your social life or handling outstanding or unresolved issues related to your friendships or projects can help boost your confidence in yourself and faith in the universe, giving you a sense of mission or purpose. This is an exceptional period for coming to a healthy balance of realism and spirit or independence. There can be a scramble to get your life into better working order around the Full Moon on the 12th, and the benefits of doing so are great. On the same day, Venus turns direct after a retrograde cycle, helping to clarify your social life. As such, you're entering a period of illumination at this time. Mars finally moves forward and down to the bottom of your solar chart on the 18th – something it’s been teasing for a while. Mind you, this is not necessarily the easiest of transits, but you do need to get a break from the mental and physical excitement/pressure it’s brought to your life in recent months. What you should watch for with this influence is allowing the excess energy of Mars to fester and do its own thing. You’ll need to apply this transit constructively by putting energy into family activities or home improvement. Or, you may decide to once and for all handle a domestic or personal problem that’s been lingering for too long. In the second half of April, you’re heading into your personal power period with some questions and reservations, but you’ll get there! Allow your mind to catch up with your heart before pushing ahead, and you’ll be in good shape now. The New Moon on the 27th fuels you with the motivation to start fresh. You could be driven to change your image or your attitude to new beginnings. This New Moon is in your sign, signaling a period of personal new beginnings and a chance to reinvent yourself. Renewal, coming out of the background, getting attention, making decisions, and moving forward are all strong themes as you close the month. Still, there is a less scattered or hurried pace to your life. Problems that were swept under the carpet in your domestic life begin to emerge and demand resolution. Home and family life can be busy, animated, and energetic. |
