A LAST QUARTER MOON occurs on Monday, November 21st, 2016, at 3:33 AM EST. On Monday morning, the Last Quarter Moon is exact, when the Sun in the final degree of Scorpio forms a square with the Moon in late Leo.
The Last Quarter Moon phase points to some sort of crisis of consciousness. After basking in the awareness symbolized by the full light of the Moon at the time of last week’s Full Moon, we disperse our knowledge and come to a point when we need to sort out what works for us — and what doesn’t — in preparation for next week’s New Moon, when something new is born once again. This is not the best time to start a major project, as the decreasing light of the Moon symbolizes a descent into unconsciousness. It’s time to begin finishing up the details of that which was conceived at the last New Moon. What revelations did you have last week? What did they mean for you? What can be done now?
This phase of the Moon occurs at 29 degrees and 28 minutes of Leo forming a square aspect with the Sun at 29 degrees and 28 minutes of Scorpio, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 27 to 30 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) and 0 to 1 degree of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) most significantly.

(Times are Eastern)
The Sun is in Scorpio until the 21st, when it enters Sagittarius; Mercury is in Sagittarius; Venus is in Capricorn; Mars is in Aquarius.
The Sun is in Scorpio from October 22-November 21. The guiding principle of Scorpio is “I desire”. Scorpio is the sign of depth, intimacy, and extremes of feeling. Superficiality simply will not do with the Sun in Scorpio. We have the desire to get to the bottom of matters. Mediocrity does not satisfy either. All that is hidden, taboo, secret, or suppressed interests us. In Libra, we strived towards equality and fairness. Scorpio, however, instinctively believes that life simply isn’t fair. Scorpio’s energy is provocative, usually in a quiet way, as well as passionate, strong-willed, and intense. It can be an immensely healing and transformative energy. Jealousy, vindictiveness, beating a dead horse, and manipulative are some of the more negative expressions of Scorpio.
The Sun is in Sagittarius from November 21-December 21. With the Sun in Sagittarius, our focus shifts from the need for an intimate connection with a person and with ourselves, to the desire to reach out to the world and connect with something larger than ourselves. While the Sun moves through this fiery, mutable sign, we can take steps to increase our understanding and awareness of the world around us. We are more able to muster up the courage to expand our horizons and branch out into new ways of thinking. We can gain more confidence and optimism by focusing on the “big picture” as we move away from our focus on the details of mundane existence. Although we may be prone to overdoing our expectations, we have the opportunity to nurture our faith, hope, and vision under this influence.
Mercury is in Sagittarius from November 12-December 2. When Mercury is in Sagittarius, our thinking shifts from a need to plumb the depths of any given situation to the desire to learn about a wide range of topics. Ideals are sought, our thinking is more optimistic, and our faith increases. We are more equipped to believe and to persuade. What is fair and unfair concerns us most now. However, we are not always very precise under this influence.
Venus is in Capricorn from November 11-December 7. Getting serious about our finances and boosting our relations with business partners and/or co-workers will be easier than usual under this influence. Our talents for creating artistic structure and form are enhanced, and our ability to form connections with people who support our ambitions is increased. We value enduring connections, reliability, and faithfulness. We take expressing our feelings seriously, and we take our time to warm up to others. We generally keep our “cool” in relationships.
Mars is in Aquarius from November 9-December 19. Dynamic yet erratic energy levels, achieving our goals through hit-or-miss tactics, and impersonal expression of anger are characteristics of Mars in Aquarius. We are team players–cooperative and less concerned about personal power. We are attracted to unconventional methods and tend to approach problems from an intellectual, detached perspective.
Saturn transits Sagittarius from December 23, 2014, to June 14, 2015, and then from September 17, 2015, to December 20, 2017. Read about Saturn’s transit through Sagittarius here.
Jupiter entered Libra on September 9th and will transit Libra until October 10, 2017. Read about Jupiter in Libra here.
Uranus entered Aries on March 11th, 2011. The urge to start fresh, to break free from restrictive attitudes or circumstances, to totally redesign an area of our lives (or even our personalities), and to gain freedom through independence is strong with Uranus in Aries.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Capricorn from November 11-December 7. Venus in Capricorn is a cycle in which security and stability in our relationships are paramount. We are more cautious with our emotions and somewhat skeptical of both our feelings and others’ expressions of affection. Longevity is important to us under this influence. There is a formality to Capricorn that can make personal expressions seem awkward and forced. However, this cycle offers us the opportunity to consider some of the practical issues of our relations and to work on making our partnerships work in the real world. A dose of realism in our personal lives can help us to feel more grounded and secure in the long run.
This week: On Thursday and Friday, Venus aligns with Pluto and forms a square with Jupiter. There can be tensions in our relationships as we may feel the pressures of our own ambitions and a sense we’re running out of time to reach our goals. However, we should consider that we may be overshooting or expecting too much, too soon. This can also be a time when we don’t agree on finances and basic values. Different beliefs can divide us now.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Capricorn Marry for money and then learn to love ’em: that’s what your heart tells you now, as a new cycle gets underway in your life. Does that sound cynical? Maybe so – but it does reflect the yearning you feel for security and stability now, and it suggests the kind of compromises you may be willing to make to accomplish these objectives.
Venus sextile Neptune November 19. Unusual attractions that add imagination, inspiration, and emotional “color” to our lives may occur now. We are attuned to the subtleties of human interaction, and we are more inclined to cooperate with others naturally. An imaginative, romantic time.
Venus trine North Node November 19. We are more concerned about harmonizing and tend to be agreeable and cooperative. We could feel lucky in love, and we could meet someone who is good for us. Fortunate connections might be made now.
Venus parallel Mercury November 23-24. A congenial time when we interact diplomatically and socialize more readily.
Venus conjunct Pluto November 24-25. An extraordinarily passionate time for relationships. We are focused and confident. There is a tendency to want–and to demand–a lot from a partnership or friendship. Powerful and uplifting time for romantic/sexual relationships. New insights into relationships and love. Strong attractions. Relationships begun under this influence are intense and passionate, deep and far from superficial, and can be quite possessive as well.
Venus square Jupiter November 24-25. We experience a strong desire for more pleasure in our lives, which can be excessive. Take care not to overstate your feelings or to set up unrealistic expectations in your partnerships. As well, take what your partner says with a grain of salt. There is no malicious intent involved, but feelings of elation can cloud our judgment, and we can promise more than we can deliver.
Venus sextile Chiron November 28-29. Love has the power to heal old wounds. We are open to romantic feelings and more willing to act upon them.
Venus square Uranus November 29. We might have to deal with issues of freedom versus intimacy during this period. Peculiar or impulsive attractions are exciting, but unlikely to last very long. Treat them as passing fancies, and enjoy them while they last–but try to hold off on making any big decisions with regards to love today.
Venus semi-square Neptune December 2. Romantic confusion as well as relationship ups and downs. Self-deception may come to light now.
Venus parallel the Sun December 5-6. A strong desire for harmony and comfort fill us now. We may be moved to express our affections.
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology). Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Monday, November 21st, from 3:34 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to the Sun), until the Moon enters Virgo at 4:35 AM EST.
VOC Moon on Tuesday, November 22nd, from 12:42 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Saturn), until the Moon enters Libra the next day, Wednesday, November 23rd, at 2:43 PM EST.
VOC Moon on Friday, November 25th, from 8:53 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to Uranus), until the Moon enters Scorpio the next day, Saturday, November 26th, at 3:02 AM EST.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Sun semi-square Jupiter. We may feel vague restlessness and discontent with life as it is. We want more, but perhaps too much. Overestimation, wastefulness, and exaggeration. Elevated moods, but unstable ones, as they may not have their base in reality.
Sun semi-square Pluto. A tendency to want to control our lives through some form of manipulation is strong during this influence. Meeting with obstacles in our paths, however, can force us into the position of using all of our resources to fight back, and we can discover resources we never knew we had in the process.
Mercury sextile Jupiter. Positive thinking, new insights, and cooperation are themes now. This influence favors short trips, writing, teaching, studying, submitting applications and forms, test taking, and making diagnoses and observations. This is a time when we more readily exercise good judgment, take a more philosophical approach to thinking, and are more open to learning.
Mercury conjunct Saturn. Our ability to concentrate and focus is enhanced now. There could be an increased need for solitude in order to think or work. Travel for business purposes is possible. Thinking in realistic and practical terms, and the need for tangible results for our efforts, is indicated. We might receive serious news or practical advice, or engage in an important conversation. This can mark the start of a new project that involves communications, such as writing, speaking, reporting, etc.
Jupiter square Pluto. We can be quite ambitious now, feeling that if we set our sights high enough, we can achieve anything. However, treading lightly now, while it may not come naturally, is advised as it is easy to stir up opposition. We may take on too many interests, activities, or desires under this influence. Exaggerating our importance or power, either to ourselves or others, should be avoided. Our belief system could be challenged now, and the need for a major attitude change arises; or we might have to face narrow-mindedness in others (or in ourselves). Trying to force our beliefs on others will only lead to frustration. The tendency now is to push too hard in general, and to ignore the important details. Thinking in big terms is fine, as long as the more practical details of any pursuit are also considered.
Venus conjunct Pluto. This is an “all or nothing” energy. We have the power of attraction at our disposal. Things shouldn’t be forced, even though the desire to sway, coerce, and manipulate others may be present. Passions are strong and intense. There is a tendency to want–and to demand–a lot from a partnership or friendship. This is a time when we can be focused and confident, especially when it comes to handling business and finances, as well as with regards to love and partnership.
Venus square Jupiter. Feelings of elation in love or with regards to the pleasures of life can lead us to overdo, overindulge, overspend, and overstate our feelings. Avoid hasty (or haughty!) decisions. We might take great strides to get noticed. Avoid impulsive buying. We may also feel lazy and we are inclined to procrastinate.
Mercury square Chiron. Communications may be strained, and possibly hurtful or perceived as such. Misunderstandings are more likely now. Decisions may also be hard to come by, as we tend to doubt ourselves or the effectiveness of our ability to solve problems. It can be hard to read the intention behind the words used to communicate now.
Mercury trine Uranus. This is an opportune time to attend meetings and other organized group activities, to communicate online, and to take part in activities involving computers, scientific projects, and metaphysics. Unexpected gains may be realized through such mediums. The intuition is strong, and insights seem to come from “out of the blue”. Original, creative ideas are easy to come by.

What’s In Store By the Stars – Daily Astrology Trends
(as featured on our site’s main page and in our Daily Trends Calendar)
NOVEMBER 20
The Moon is in Leo all day, and with the Sun in Scorpio, we are likely to be quite determined, loyal, and strong in our convictions and opinions today. After several days of rather indecisive, open-ended energy, we can benefit now from setting goals for ourselves. There is a tendency to dramatize whatever we do today. The Leo Moon is playful, affectionate, and proud, and quite inspired as well in the hours surrounding midday when it forms a harmonious trine to Uranus.
NOVEMBER 21
Early today, the Last Quarter Moon is exact when the Sun in late Scorpio forms a square with the Moon in late Leo.This Moon phase points to a crisis of consciousness. The Moon moves into productive Virgo at 4:35 AM EST. The Sun enters Sagittarius today where it will transit until December 21st. We muster up the courage to expand our horizons and branch out into new ways of thinking. We can gain more confidence and optimism by focusing on the “big picture” as we move away from our focus on the details of mundane existence. Although we may be prone to overdoing our expectations, we have the opportunity to nurture our faith, hope, and vision under this influence. The Sun forms a semisquare with Sagittarian ruler, Jupiter, emphasizing the tendency to overreach.
A void of course Moon occurs from 3:34 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to the Sun), until the Moon enters Virgo at 4:35 AM EST.
NOVEMBER 22
The Sun forms a semi-square to Pluto this morning, reaching the midpoint of Jupiter and Pluto as these bodies move towards an exact square (the Jupiter-Pluto square perfects on November 24th). We can be feeling pressure to achieve our goals, but we may have either set the bar too high or misjudged the amount of time necessary to reach them. We should also watch for a tendency to try to force matters. Mercury’s sextile to Jupiter this afternoon helps put things into perspective, although it does also encourage reaching beyond our usual boundaries. We are clearer in our thinking and looking for solutions to problems or the positive side of situations. Our minds open to possibilities, and by tomorrow when Mercury reaches Saturn, we’ll have a good idea where we should specialize and focus our attention.
A void of course Moon occurs from 12:42 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Saturn), until the Moon enters Libra the next day, Wednesday, November 23rd, at 2:43 PM EST.
NOVEMBER 23
Mercury and Saturn come together to form a conjunction, which tends to have the effect of forcing a reality, an answer, or a solution. There is a desire for tangible results. There could be an increased need for solitude in order to think or work. We might receive serious news or practical advice, or engage in an important conversation. This can mark the start of a new project that involves communications, such as writing, speaking, reporting, etc., or the commitment to same. There can be a tendency to focus on negative potentials, which can be useful in moderation. We have an increased ability to concentrate and focus. The Moon continues to transit the sign of Virgo until 2:43 PM EST, when it moves into Libra and later forms a sextile with the Sun in Sagittarius, and we readily cooperate with one another. We might especially enjoy exchanging ideas.
The Moon ends its void period when it enters Libra at 2:43 PM EST.
NOVEMBER 24
A longer term influence occurs today: Jupiter square Pluto. This aspect will perfect again in March and August 2017. This aspect stimulates our ambition. We may feel that if we set our sights high enough, we can achieve anything. However, treading lightly now, while it may not come naturally, is advised as it is easy to stir up opposition or to put too much pressure on ourselves. We may take on too many interests, activities, or desires under this influence. Exaggerating our importance or power, either to ourselves or others, should be avoided. Our belief system could be challenged now, and the need for a significant attitude change arises. Trying to force our beliefs on others will only lead to frustration. The tendency now is to push too hard in general and to ignore time and energy limits and important details. Our plans are big, which can be a good thing as we realize we can do more. However, we can expect too much and the pressure we place on ourselves or others can lead to unnecessary stress. Relationships may be a driving force behind our ambitions, and we may be trying hard to prove ourselves. The Moon is in Libra all day, aligning with Jupiter and bringing emotions into the equation. Feelings are big today!
NOVEMBER 25
Venus aligns with Pluto and forms a square with Jupiter today. Venus-Pluto stimulates intense feelings. We have the power of attraction at our disposal. Things shouldn’t be forced, even though the desire to sway, coerce, and manipulate others may be present. There is a tendency to want and demand a lot from a partnership or friendship. This is a time when we can be especially focused, and perhaps obsessed, especially when it comes to handling business and finances, as well as with regards to love and partnership. With Jupiter involved, confidence is strong, but we may overcommit. The Moon is in Libra all day.
A void of course Moon occurs from 8:53 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to Uranus), until the Moon enters Scorpio the next day, Saturday, November 26th, at 3:02 AM EST.
NOVEMBER 26
This morning, Mercury forms a trine to Uranus, helping us to make more satisfying decisions. This is an opportune time to attend meetings and other organized group activities, to communicate online, and to take part in activities involving computers, scientific projects, and metaphysics. Our intuition is strong, and insights seem to come from “out of the blue.” Original, creative ideas are easy to come by. A square between Mercury and Chiron, however, can point to some lack of confidence and possibly misunderstandings as a result. We should try to avoid shooting ourselves in the foot with communications that might provoke. The Moon moves into Scorpio at 3:02 AM EST.
The Moon ends its void period at 3:02 AM EST when it enters Scorpio.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Leo
The Moon in Leo speaks to our “inner child”. It’s a warm, generous, whole-heartedly loving position. Pride keeps us from pettiness, but it can also prevent us from opening up and revealing how we are truly feeling. We are on stage, our feelings are grand, and we appreciate some drama in our lives. We are easily threatened by anything that seems to be impersonal. This is a time when we seek attention–when we want to stand out for our special qualities. It’s a strong time for romance and any creative activity as well.
The Moon in Leo generally favors the following activities: Creative activities, activities involving children, generous undertakings, undertakings in which personal recognition is desired, and risk-taking.
When the Moon is in Virgo
We instinctually gravitate towards practical activities under the influence of a Virgo Moon. In an urge to set things right, we might easily find ourselves re-organizing and rethinking plans. Emotional satisfaction comes from solving problems, making order out of confusion, and helping others. Health matters might come into focus. We notice the smaller parts that make up the whole, and instead of letting nagging details bother us, we might work on ironing them out so that we can feel more confident moving ahead.
The Moon in Virgo generally favors the following activities: Mental pursuits, work activities, services, and routines. Activities that would benefit from tending to details.
When the Moon is in Libra
Creating order is the focus, not necessarily through tidying or organizing as was the case while the Moon was in Virgo, but rather through pleasing interactions with others and aesthetics in our environment. We tend to solve problems through diplomacy, and we are more able to put aside our own emotions in order to achieve the peace we crave. The tendency now is to avoid direct confrontations. Decisions do not come easily. Seeing both sides to any given situation is the main reason for hesitation. Fear of losing others’ approval is another.
The Moon in Libra generally favors the following activities: Relationship and partnership issues, activities involving teamwork and cooperation, activities that involve self-examination, activities related to beauty.
When the Moon is in Scorpio
Intensity is what the Moon in Scorpio is all about. Whether it’s passion, elation, sorrow, or desire, emotions are felt on a deeply personal level. We are motivated by the desire to get to the bottom of things, and we instinctively read between the lines. Superficiality won’t work for us now. The Moon in Scorpio urges us to uncover our own power, and it’s an excellent time to rid ourselves of old fears and limiting habits. It can be an intimate and passionate time. Avoid manipulative tactics, brooding, and suspiciousness.
The Moon in Scorpio generally favors the following activities: Taxes, accounting, intimacy issues, psychological examinations, research, self-examination, getting rid of old things.
This Week’s Planetary Positions By Sign (General Trends)
Sun in Scorpio Who owes what, who owns what, and who decides these things: these are some of the major issues for you at the dawn of the cycle that now begins in your life. The only thing we really own is our consciousness; the only master who is never overthrown is oneself. These are lessons best learned early in this cycle. Master them, and you master everything. Dodge these issues, and the great strength that could be yours will remain just out of reach. Understanding inner motivations, seeing through to the core: that’s your real path of power and enlightenment now.
Sun in Sagittarius You’re now embarking on a trek into a land of dreams – not passive daydreams, but vibrant visions of what may be. The time has come to stop looking at the world as it is and asking why. Now’s the time to imagine the world as it could be, and the question has become: “Why not?” You also cannot do everything you imagine now, but you cannot do anything you don’t KNOW you can do – so believe, and dare to make it happen! This means expanding your mind, your belief system, your whole base of knowledge and experience. Time’s a wastin’ – let no grass grow between your toes!
Mercury in Sagittarius A time of expanding your mental horizons is at hand. Religion, philosophy, law, and education are some of the things that may have special importance for you now. Being in touch with faraway people and places satisfies an intellectual yearning – curiosity will take you anywhere and maybe everywhere.
Mars in Aquarius The reformer, the inventor, the engineer, the revolutionary – these are important archetypes for you as a new cycle gets underway in your life. They are icons of the ambitions that stir you at a time like this. Independence, freedom from past patterns, and a daring readiness to innovate: such are the paths of achievement for you now.
Jupiter in Libra The ties that bind, the harmonious integration of opposites, the perfect balance: these are the keys to your greatest opportunities now. Marriage and other close personal relationships tend to offer bright prospects, and you have a deep yearning to experience the fulfillment they can bring.
Saturn in Sagittarius The new phase now beginning in your life brings a need to break out of narrow concepts and legalistic philosophical or religious ideas. Remember: “A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds.” Opportunities to broaden your mental horizons may not come with ease, but they are essential if you are to avoid a kind of spiritual stagnation.
Uranus in Aries A clean break with the past in some respects is signaled by the cycle you have just begun. What YOU need, YOUR freedom and independence, shattering old molds: these are the things that energize you and take priority in your life. Uniqueness and originality set you apart.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone and everyone in their place…
