Love and pleasure are headlines for you in 2025, dear Aquarius. You’re finding new ways to enjoy and express yourself, and others are paying attention! This is due to a continuing Jupiter transit to your sector of heartfelt pursuits, romance, and joy until June 9th.

This Jupiter transit, in effect since May 2024 and until June 2025 (for just over a year), helps open channels for recreation, play, entertainment, hobbies, and creativity. It can also bring more opportunities to date and connect with others romantically.

These are not necessarily the types of relationships that lead quickly to commitment, but they’re enjoyable and confidence-boosting. Aquarians already in a relationship are putting more emphasis on fun, romance, and excitement. Restlessness is likely, but you can generally sate it by expressing yourself creatively, pleasurably, and romantically.

You could feel freer from responsibilities at this time, making it easier for you to let your hair down and have a good time. It’s generally a more expressive, playful era of your life, but it does overlap with some picky retrogrades: Mars is retrograde until February 23rd and Venus is retrograde from March 1-April 12, 2025.

Otherwise, romance is fun, and connected with communications this year. You might be especially playful and flirtatious in your communications now. You are taking some exciting risks with your heart and your creativity. While Aquarius is not a sign known to be dramatic, some of you could be experiencing emotional ups and downs that certainly feel dramatic, whether or not you express these swings to others.

Some of you may have recently, or might this year, turn a friendship into a romance. Friends can be instrumental in getting you out and about meeting new people.

After June 9th, the headline status leaves, but this doesn’t mean romance isn’t with you–it only suggests that it’s more status quo and no longer a big part of the story.

Pluto has been slowly transitioning into your sign in recent years and now is firmly in Aquarius. In other words, Pluto is now in your sign for the long haul — this transit lasts until 2043/2044!

What this means is that you’re going through a slow personality transition. Only those born in the first degrees of Aquarius are directly affected this year. Loved ones may need patience as you get in touch with your deeper needs. You’ll be learning about trust, faith, fear, and courage–massive issues. Some of you are being tested, so to speak, and might be dealing with betrayals or other intense experiences that get you more deeply in touch with yourself and your needs.

It’s about gaining more control over your life, and it’s not without its challenges. As your energy fluctuates and you go through some ups and downs, you might unwittingly take others on the ride!

Interestingly, Uranus, your modern ruling planet, is transitioning into a new sign this year. It’s been in Taurus for about seven years, and while it has some more work to do in this stubborn, earthy sign this year and early next year, Uranus dips its toes into fellow Air sign Gemini in 2025. The dates are July 7th to November 7th. In truth, these four months of Uranus in Gemini are a sneak peek of a transit that will last many years, beginning on April 25th, 2026.

This shift is a subtle but powerful one. You’re becoming more communicative, interested in connecting, and expressive. It puts Uranus in your romance sector, which can be exciting although a little up-and-down at times.

Mercury’s retrograde periods can bring some minor hiccups to your love life. In 2025, Mercury is retrograde from:

March 15-April 7 (in your communication and money sectors),
July 18-August 11 (in your partnership sector).
and then November 9-29 (in your friends and career sectors).

Some indecision is likely during these periods. Consider that your heart is catching up with your mind, and information is clogging. If a lover is distant during these periods, give them and yourself some space and don’t pressure them. You’ll manage these times best if you slow down.

March 1-April 12 is the Venus retrograde period. Avoid making any major decisions about love (and finances) during this cycle. Review and reflect on your love life. This period may be more about money than it is about love for you, however.

With Saturn and the North Node of the Moon in your solar second house a good portion of the year, opposite your intimacy and sharing sector, the need to establish more independence is evident. You are learning to let go of the tendency to define our own worth and values in terms of others and to be wrapped up in the needs of others at the expense of your own needs. Indeed, you’re learning to establish your self-worth through your own efforts.

Key Periods in 2025

Venus has been in your sign since December 7th, 2024, when you experienced a fresh start. From December 7, 2024, to January 2, 2025, the world seems to be speaking–or at least appreciating–your “love language.” It’s a period ripe with opportunities to attract others, turn on the charm, and receive positive feedback from partners or love interests. Love seems to come to you without the need to pursue it.

Note, however, that Mars is retrograde in your partnership sector throughout this transit! As such, things can feel slow. This doesn’t stop attention coming your way! However, it’s best to take your time.

Mars is retrograde from December 6, 2024-February 23, 2025, and for the first part of this cycle, Mars is retrograde in your partnership sector, making desires and their fulfillment a little more complicated, particularly regarding partnering, one-to-one connections and meetings, and paying special attention to imbalances.

There can be some sluggishness during the retrograde period because Mars, the planet of energy, anger, activity, and sexuality, is moving “backwards” (retrograde). People can be stuck on previous relationships, in general. With this portion of the Mars retrograde cycle occurring in your partnership sector, it’s possible that you are even more so than most! You may temporarily feel that your one-to-one relationships are lacking something–perhaps spirit or excitement.

Although Mars is retrograde until February 23rd, 2025, it is retrograde in your partnership sector only until January 6, 2025. From January 6th to February 23rd, Mars is retrograde in your work and health sector. You may temporarily find your work and health routines unfulfilling or especially lackluster.

There can be treasures in old projects and connections; the trick is to approach them in new ways. You will be learning a lot about yourself and a partner during this Mars retrograde cycle. It can be an animated time involving struggles with the give-and-take in a close relationship. A re-assessment or slowdown in a partnership is possible, as either or both parties can be distant or hesitant. If you’ve been pouring too much energy into a relationship without getting much in return, you’re going to feel it strongly now.

You will have a lot more time to work on these issues while Mars continues in direct motion in your partner sector from April 18-June 17. This may very well be an angsty time in your life!

Mars is in your partnership sector for an extended stay and in two parts from November 3, 2024-January 6, 2025 and from April 18, 2025, to June 17, 2025. This can be a time of fireworks in a partnership. You may not always feel that the ball is in your court during this period. Ideally, buried problems are stirred so that you can resolve them and put them behind you. The extended stay was due to the retrograde Mars cycle–you’re going over a lot of problematic matters, buried or delayed! The second transit, from April 18 to June 17, is about straightening it all out.

Love is easier to attract and tends to run more smoothly at certain points in the year. When your partnership ruler occupies your sign, a partner tends to have your best interests at heart and pays more attention to you, and this occurs from January 19 to February 18, 2025.

Eros is in your sign from February 13 to April 6, 2025, and people are attracted to your confidence, directness, magnetism, and expertise. This transit can be a lusty, desirous, or simply passionate influence. You’re looking to find ways to meet your (considerable) needs.

Furthermore, your romance sector ruler occupies your sign from January 27 to February 14. This period is looking very good for you! Indeed, Mars remains retrograde until February 23rd, but you’re working it better than most signs.
