Overview of 2022
We have several continuing and developing themes, but the year 2022’s astrology stands out as unique.
Saturn in Aquarius
Saturn spends another year in Aquarius, the Water Bearer. Saturn will visit Aquarius until March 2023. With Saturn in Aquarius, it’s a time of clearing out the deadwood, prioritizing quality over quantity, simplifying, and turning a critical eye to our social lives, friendships, causes, group associations, happiness goals, involvements, contributions, and associates.
It’s a great time for technological advances that improve the community and help us connect more effectively. We seek more realistic plans and goals/dreams, and we have a good sense of both the past and future. Ideally, we’re able to put our egos aside to do what’s best for the collective during this period. Saturn does well in Aquarius, largely because Aquarius is one of the signs it rules. This is a time for checking in with ourselves and the structures of our lives to see if we’re following the rules and meeting our responsibilities.
Gemini, Libra, Sagittarius, and Aries receive stabilizing energy. Taurus, Leo, and Scorpio may initially balk at those things that feel too restrictive. Aquarius gets a bit of both. Cancer, Virgo, and Capricorn don’t understand this energy as well as most others and will need to adjust accordingly.
We can look to the Aquarius part of our charts for where we may be discovering our ambitions and the need to structure, order, organize, and shape up. There’s a need to refine our approach to these affairs in order to realize these benefits and gains, and with the Fixed Air sign of Aquarius, it’s about improving our connections to others with more organization, control, and practicality. Jupiter and Saturn in 2022
On the other hand, we can look to the Pisces and Aries part of our charts for where we are expanding or improving in some significant manner. Read more about Jupiter in Pisces.
With Aquarius and Pisces energy strong in the year 2022, we take a special interest in what happens to society or the majority. Chiron (all year) and Jupiter (part of the year) in Aries assures special attention to the self and individuality.
If we’ve recently fallen short with the imagination and risk-taking attitude that would allow us to innovate, 2022 introduces more of these qualities.
Jupiter is in Pisces
Jupiter is in Pisces until May 10th, and then from October 28th to December 20th forward. Read more about this transit with my Jupiter in Pisces article.
Last year, we got a sneak preview of Jupiter’s transit of Pisces. This year, it completes, but it takes two more steps to do so. This transit encourages us to give of ourselves and to embrace compassion and imagination. We attract luck and rich life experiences through our intuition, imagination, and compassion. We’re charitable, and we look out for the underdog. We are more idealistic and perhaps less ambitious in a worldly sense, more motivated to give than receive.
We should watch for escapism, bending personal philosophies or morals to suit the situation, deception and self-deception, restlessness and vague discontent, and unwillingness to face problems or negative situations directly.
Jupiter is in Aries
New this year is Jupiter’s move into Aries. This transit also happens in steps, but only two this time: from May 10th to October 28th, 2022, and then from December 20th, 2022, to May 16, 2023. See Jupiter in Aries.
With Jupiter in Aries, we make our own opportunities, and we thrive when we take the lead, initiate, inspire others, and demonstrate enthusiasm and courage. Prosperous areas are ones that allow us to head and lead, and to innovate. Faith in ourselves can bring about positive circumstances or good luck.
Faith in our ability to reinvent our lives and to move forward with confidence in spite of challenges we may be leaving behind is strong during this cycle. We believe that “life is what you make it,” and we enjoy competition as it pushes us to do better. Our belief in ourselves brings a spirit of the pioneer. We live in the “now” and quickly seize opportunities. However, we should watch for taking any of these things too far, a me-first attitude that can be insensitive, failing to consider others’ viewpoints and leaving opportunities behind as a result, over-confidence, not learning from past mistakes, and a lack of objectivity.
Health in 2022
Health issues in 2022 can more frequently have to do with poor circulation, rheumatism, and problems with calves, ankles, nerves, and the mind. Electrical injuries, cramping in the lower legs, and ankle injuries are also associated with Saturn in Aquarius. Breathing abnormalities may continue as a health theme this year. Psychological or mental inclinations that could contribute to health problems include erratic health routines/health care and a tendency to detach ourselves emotionally, perhaps too much. A lower-starch diet, breathing exercises, and special attention to air quality may be appropriate.
Uranus in Taurus in 2022
Uranus in Taurus continues to shake up our attitude towards money and personal possessions, and it’s a time for bold innovations in these areas. We saw this energy in action in previous years, and more developments are expected in 2022. We can expect changes to what we value on non-material levels as well, and we’re inclined to value ourselves in new ways through the course of this transit that lasts until April 2026.
While Uranus energy was a bit challenged last year, in 2022, we enjoy some harmonious outer planet transits involving Uranus. Its sextile to Jupiter in Pisces in February helps us open to new energies, approaches, and attitudes. Fortunate events occur as a direct result of our willingness to entertain the unusual and to think outside of the box. We’re less tolerant of repetition and routine, and we’re resistant of obligations or limits to our self-expression. Good luck or money can happen unexpectedly, appearing in the nick of time. With Jupiter in Pisces, we can be quite sentimental, but this aspect helps us detach somewhat from this so that we can embrace change.
Its conjunction to the North Node in July brings life lessons–we’re learning to be more self-sufficient while concerning ourselves with bettering the world around us; that is, with others, the community, and society in mind. It can be about retraining ourselves to change our definition of comfort, abundance, opulence, security, and pleasure, perhaps in ways that also benefit the group or the planet as a whole. We are also especially aware of current values in society, and we can be excited about helping to shape them. We are redefining what it means to be secure, comfortable, wealthy, or stable.
The North Node of the Moon & Eclipses in 2022
Eclipses falling along the Taurus-Scorpio axis occur this year. It began with the Lunar Eclipse in Taurus in November 2021, and this set sticks around until October 2023. The True North Node enters Taurus in January, and we’re called upon to pay more attention to our sense of self-worth, income, and comfort with ourselves.

The true North Node transits Taurus from January 18, 2022, to July 17, 2023. The last time the North Node transited Taurus was April 13, 2003, to December 26, 2004. Looking back on life happenings and themes, particularly with money and relationships, can be instructive, as similar ones can happen in 2022-2023.
These eclipses illuminate and perhaps challenge our emotional and financial investments or attachments. We’re learning how to depend on ourselves, that healthy self-worth can benefit us and our relationships. It is a time for re-evaluating our relationship with money and possessions and discovering what it is that truly makes us happy and fulfilled.
We should be concentrating on what it is we can do to increase our own feelings of self-worth. We are asked to get in touch with what it is that we truly value and want in our lives, and to part with or transform those things or situations that are not contributing to our feelings of worthiness. This includes identifying what gives us a false sense of security.
We might evaluate where we have been complicating our lives by our love-hate attraction to predicament and conflict or by an addiction to food or comfort items and consider what truly makes us feel content and comfortable. Knowing what it is that truly – deeply – makes us feel comfortable and pleased ultimately improves our intimate relationships.
Venus & Mars Retrogrades
Both Venus and Mars are retrograde at some points in 2022, complicating love and desire. In the first month of the year, Capricorn areas of our charts require some rethinking. See Venus Retrograde in Capricorn for more details.
From October onward, the areas of life associated with Gemini in our charts may need reassessment. Mars is retrograde from October 30th, 2022, to January 12, 2023. During this period, we might re-assess our current projects, our approach to getting what we want, and our desire nature. Rather than directly assert our desires, we tend towards introspection. We can be hesitant about taking action, second-guessing our instincts or our natural impulses rather than acting upon them.
With Mars retrograde in Gemini, there can be some stalling of intellectual and mental initiatives. Health issues may be a factor (especially in areas ruled by Gemini, including the lungs), and accidents a possibility throughout the Mars retrograde period.
Sign Emphasis
The areas of our charts where we find Taurus can involve some shake-ups, new thinking and approaches, and radical changes in some cases. It’s also a place where we need to improve, challenge ourselves, and strive to do better. The areas of our charts where we find Aquarius involve some lessons and strengthening exercises, and they require simplifying and hard (or smarter) work. Where we find Pisces, we receive boosts and blessings, and we also begin to see some real growth and improvements in Aries areas. We’re finding our joy in Pisces and Aries areas.
Where we find Aquarius in our charts, we’re firming up, refining, and perfecting in 2022. Saturn fixes, balances, and gives us lessons with whichever sign, house, or point it visits.
Jupiter teaches too, but uses a far different approach, aiming to open us up and fill us with faith and courage to explore and discover. In Pisces areas, we’re discovering more joy and opportunity this year. Although there remains quite a bit of mystery in these life departments, it feels a little less confusing and little more magical in 2022.
Business Trends in 2022
In business in 2022, as with all other areas, there are different themes working concurrently. Saturn in Aquarius is very concerned with our social structures. Jupiter in Pisces encourages us to attend to our needs for gentleness, understanding, and compassion. Later, Jupiter in Aries inspires us to innovate, believe in ourselves, and to emphasize thriving through better attention to self and self-growth. Uranus encourages us to branch out and consider new and improved or progressive ways of doing business.
While Jupiter asks us to grow, expand, and believe, Saturn asks us to simplify, test, and question.
We should also be approaching money in an entirely new way as Uranus transits Taurus again this year. We need to deal with money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge and can be an important business focus or trend. The North Node in Taurus this year suggests we’re challenging ourselves to get to a better relationship with our money and things.
In recent years, we’ve seen this Uranus theme through sometimes abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that may have resulted in a reshuffling of priorities or values. We’re working with these new variables. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re also bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable as our values are changing, in general, related to what we make and own.
Love Trends in 2022
Concerning love and relationships, we might consider working together or encouraging one another’s long-term goals and ambitions to improve our connections. We’re attracted to people who are compassionate and perceptive, but also strong as individuals. The platonic elements of love relationships continue to gain steam.
There’s a revolution happening with Uranus in Taurus, too, and it’s about approaching sexuality and gratification differently. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued and we are embracing a new-age view of the feminine. Women’s “roles” in relationships are revolutionizing this year and in coming years.
In a general sense, friendship and community matters overshadow romantic matters. Nevertheless, there can be some tests to friendships, which can ultimately strengthen those relationships with strong foundations. Long-term compatibility and shared visions or friendships are factors we take into consideration more than usual.
Tolerance and acceptance themes are reinforced. While Jupiter is in Pisces, we have a stronger belief in a higher power or in our personal responsibility to express universal love and compassion.
We need to work on self-confidence, body image, and our relationship with our independence. Chiron in Aries is certainly a me-oriented transit, but it’s a vital one if we want to bring our whole selves into a relationship. In 2022, Jupiter is in Aries for half the year, boosting this theme further. Relationships can benefit from the general attitude that the past should be left behind us. Some of us can feel considerably more confident in our ability to be independent, and this can test relationships.

Aries
The year 2022 brings a strong focus on your inner world, dear Aries, and on embracing your personality and independence. Events occurring now expand your innate compassion, warmth, or inner eye. Your perspective or personal philosophy is also going through changes. You might do some special studies on your own this year. There can be hidden or elusive elements to your communications, interests, and studies.
Later in the year, mostly from May to October, your personality, image, body image, and self-confidence expand to new levels with Jupiter in your sign. You are seeing whole new possibilities, and your vision of life is panoramic.
In 2022, you enjoy an increasing feeling of hope, optimism, and spiritual protection. Your intuition heightens to possibly even uncanny levels. Pluto continues to apply pressure, having you question whether the career path you’re travelling is in fact a reflection of the true you. However, you’re really coming into your own, making and shaping things in ways that are exciting. You’re a little bolder with pursuing what you want or feel you’re worth.
While Mars is retrograde later in the year, you are not as sure of yourself and uncharacteristically second-guessing your decisions. Rules and plans seem to be changing. Roadblocks and delays are irritating, but they could be the key to figuring out true desires, especially related to personal interests, communicating, connecting, and getting around.

Taurus
It’s now the time to feel considerably more confident about the future, dear Taurus. You’re gaining confidence in your ability to set plans in motion that will allow you to accomplish some of your most cherished hopes and dreams.
In 2022, you are planting seeds, so to speak, aiming to get started on projects that will reap the rewards in the future. With more contact with others, whether it’s about an expanded real-life group of connections or online, you are sure to come up with new ideas and gain inspiration. Others can point you in new directions.
There can be a cause that you work towards enthusiastically. A new communications project can excite you and bring you into contact with interesting, helpful people. A stronger awareness of others, a bigger emphasis on networking and enjoying friendships, and a hard look at the work you do are in store for you in 2022. It’s possible you’re exploring different relationship arrangements. You’re also reaping the many benefits from and increased respect for what you do. Your business income improves, and you now focus on going after your fondest hopes and wishes, not only material and career goals.
You’re finding more than the usual enjoyment from group associations, associates, networking, or friendships. However, from May to October, you’re beginning to find special value in some level of retreat. Gemini
Jupiter at the top of your solar chart for half of the year 2022 helps you shine! Your ambitions, career, business goals, and reputation grow and develop, dear Gemini. Your talents and skills are recognized, and much of the hard work you’ve put in begins to pay off.
It can be a time of significant progress in the outer world or a fortunate change in status. Partnership matters could connect closely with your career, or a relationship can enjoy a peak or special attention. A partner can help or motivate you with your work or longer-term goals and ambitions.
You can find more pleasure in pursuing business and career goals this year, and you could find that you’re getting recognition. Promotions or some form of pleasant culmination in your professional life can figure strongly. A positive attitude towards work brings great rewards, as does the expression of integrity and honesty. Partnerships, social life, and career are all tied to one another. This can mean the forming of business partnerships for some and love relationship opportunities through business for others.

Cancer
The year 2022 is powerful for feeling that you’re exceling, rising, and growing, dear Cancer. It can be an excellent period for romance, fun, friendship, and discovery with someone close to you. Money from others or from outside sources is much improved this year, whether it’s through loans, refunds, rebates, or the like. Non-tangible support is also abundant–assistance from others comes more readily than usual.
Improving your skill set can be fun and rewarding, and even if it isn’t required of you, you should probably look into some training or personal interest studies.
Finding support or backing for your career, work, or health efforts can be easier. In turn, as you reach for your career goals, your improved confidence reverberates back to your intimate world. You see opportunities where others see obstacles, which is a great quality/asset.
You find more to love and enjoy in your intimate or private world this year, but as 2022 advances, you find yourself more and more interactive, not only looking ahead, but also far and wide.

Virgo
Your partnerships, relating abilities, and powers of negotiation continue to grow and expand this year, dear Virgo. New partnership opportunities can arrive, or the chance to bring fresh energy to an existing committed relationship emerges.
Relationships entered into this year are generally successful and happy — they are mutually beneficial. Love affairs may go through some tests this year, but overall, any transformations that you are experiencing in 2022 are easier to digest and to understand. Libra
The year 2022 is a strong year for getting organized, for satisfaction from the work you do, and for partnering opportunities, dear Libra. Those of you looking for a better job could find it in 2022. You’re radiating more confidence and attracting accordingly.
You find more joy in your work (as long as you don’t overload), self-improvement endeavors, and taking care of your health. More satisfaction from your job, improved working conditions, and/or better health can figure strongly. Although work can be hectic at times, you enjoy taking care of all the details, and being in demand for your skills can be a very pleasant feeling! It’s good to know when to say no, however, because your confidence in your work can lead you to accept more work than you can reasonably manage.
This is a year when your work projects or duties expand, or you have increased opportunities for employment. If you provide a service to others, it is likely to prosper, primarily because you’re enjoying it more! If applicable, you are especially successful in hiring people to work for you, and improvements to your working environment are likely.

Scorpio
Your focus is on having fun, enjoying life, and expressing yourself in freeing, rewarding ways in 2022, dear Scorpio. Your romantic and creative worlds grow and expand. Your desire to express your unique side and creativity increases. As you learn to express yourself playfully and creatively without apology, you are more willing to take some personal risks along the way!
Romantic opportunities tend to abound, or chances to kick back and have fun, express yourself in unique ways, and pursue hobbies and entertainment are abundant. Creatively speaking, transits fill you with ideas and plans for realizing a dream.
For approximately half of the year 2022, the Great Benefic, Jupiter, is moving in harmony with your sign, gracing your romance and pleasure sector. You are taking the stresses and pressures of everyday life in stride. This can-do attitude is your best asset right now. More and new ways to have fun are available to you in 2022.

Sagittarius
In 2022, you are more confident about your family, living arrangements, and living conditions, dear Sagittarius. These areas of life blossom, expand, or improve. As well, your creative, playful, and romantic side develop. It’s a powerful time for self-expression, new forms of entertainment, and romantic explorations.
As adventurous as you are by nature, 2022 often pulls you closer to home and family. Family matters are a source of great pleasure, joy, and increase. In some cases, too, the increased focus on family and home can feel a little too excessive! With your ruler, Jupiter, in Pisces and your solar fourth house half of the year, you are more inclined towards introspection than you were while Jupiter was in Aquarius and your communicative third house. A more spiritual or meditative approach to your life may figure strongly now. It’s a year when you rediscover your roots and work on loving yourself from the bottom up.
Jupiter’s brief visit to the sign of assertive Aries from May to July, however, is the exception. A more spontaneous and enterprising spirit is with you during this period, and it returns on December 20th, continuing into 2023.
While Jupiter is in Aries and your creative sector, your natural enthusiasm and sense of humor return with gusto. Optimism, however, can take a few shots as you face some botched plans and practical concerns later this year, but you have a sense of making progress and of looking forward with freshness.

Capricorn
Your communications increase and expand in 2022, dear Capricorn. It’s an exciting year for enjoying your daily affairs and learning endeavors. You’re also improving your daily environment or the transportation systems in your life.
Depending on your current situation and your unique personality/circumstances, you might enjoy a greater ability (and desire) to express yourself, and your personal interests grow. Developing a mental interest or project more fully can figure strongly this year.
Much focus is on personality, career, and finances in 2022. Personal changes run deep, but you’re also finding more interesting things to get you out of bed in the morning. You are rediscovering yourself from the inside out, and ultimately learning that fear is the only thing holding you back in life–you are learning to fear less.
You’ve been through enormous personal changes in the last few years and, ideally, you have connected with what really motivates you or makes you tick. The year 2022 brings pleasing social interactions, plenty of opportunities to learn and improve your skills, and a changing attitude towards money and income.
Plenty of opportunities arise on intellectual lines and on the home front. Some of you will have your eye on a dream home, and many of you will be enjoying pleasing family connections and support.
You can go through periods of great optimism and hopefulness, which is not exactly in character for a practical, risk-averse, and realistic person like yourself. You are learning about taking more risks in your creative or romantic world. Your siblings, acquaintances, or neighbors might be the source of wonderful opportunities this year. Your summer is likely to be extremely busy and changeful, with a stronger focus on family and home life.

Aquarius
Your desire for security and comfort is hearty this year, dear Aquarius, and you’ll pursue these things with more confidence and verve. You feel that you deserve more or that you’re at a stage when you want to more thoroughly enjoy the fruits of your labor.
At the same time, you’re entirely open to making changes and improvements on the home front or in your personal life. In fact, the year ahead can find you connecting with family or “doing” home life differently, with an eye on innovation and progress.
Intellectual interests begin to take a primary role in your life in 2022. You have a stronger desire–and need–to develop and grow mentally as well as spiritually this year. Improving your skills will be a focus, and some of you will do so formally, benefiting greatly from it. There can be exciting new interests or worlds opening up through improved or new channels for communicating and transit.
You continue to struggle with tradition and progress–with clinging to the tried and true or embracing the new. The answer may be to find a balance, and that’s what you are working towards discovering.

This is a time for exploring your needs and pursuing your dreams, dear Pisces. Your personality, image, body image, and self-confidence expand to new levels with Jupiter in your sign for about half of the year 2022. You are seeing whole new possibilities, and your vision of life is panoramic.
If you’ve done your inner “work” well while Jupiter was transiting your solar twelfth house last year, this can be an especially rewarding period. Your confidence in yourself and faith in the world are growing exponentially. Freedom and discovery are important themes for you in 2022. You are seeking out more from life than the mundane, and this can lead you to exciting new experiences and adventures or learning journeys. It’s possible it leads you to an uncomfortable state of discontented restlessness in spots.
With Jupiter often in your sign and Uranus subtly enhancing it, the year finds you most bold and intriguing. Career opportunities might come knocking at your door this year, and you are looked upon more favorably from those in higher positions. You are also in a good position as an authority, and being your own boss is something some of you are leaning towards. 2022 brings many chances to improve your reputation or professional position in the world.
Promising developments are likely in the areas of finances, friendships, communications, and transportations. You are likely taking more creative risks this year in an effort to pursue dreams that suit your deepest needs. You’re likely to feel you are moving forward and growing, craving freedom and independence, and perhaps facing some endings as a result.

Do-it-Yourself Horoscopes:
Each of us has every sign of the zodiac in our charts. Yes, some signs are in stronger emphasis, and things are arranged differently in different charts, but we each have areas of our lives ruled by a sign. For example, if you have Aries on/in your solar fourth house of home and family, these are areas of life that are ruled by Aries. A similar theme happens with the Moon in Aries.
We can examine how a particular sign fares in a general way in the year 2022 and apply these themes to a particular set of areas of life, depending on where they appear in a chart.
In the areas of our charts where we find Aries are places of solid improvements. Yes, we can still sometimes feel a little paranoid here. We’re steadier overall–more balanced. But if we can identify our vulnerabilities and instead of merely trying to rise above them, we face them, it’s a time of healing. Health issues in this area are possible, but they are only appearing now if they’ve already existed, and again, healing is the focus. The Aries areas of our charts have gone through some tension, and now we feel more refreshed in the associated life departments. We’re beginning to feel far more comfortable and happy in Aries areas in 2022–especially if we feel we’re growing, improving, and striving.
Taurus areas are a little more strained in 2022. The desire to change can be strong, but the route to take isn’t clear. We’re feeling rebellious in the areas of life ruled by Taurus in our charts. Even if we do know where to direct our need for change, we can feel blocked or overruled, which can be frustrating. However, there are satisfying outlets for expressing our unique viewpoints in these areas in 2022. As well, a new theme is emerging that encourages us to grow, improve, and give ourselves gentle challenges in these areas, and it’s rewarding.
Gemini areas are not in the spotlight. There have been challenges to our perceptions in these areas–we’re not always feeling directed. However, this year is a little more grounded than it has been. Even if we don’t know where we’re heading, we’re practical enough to be productive instead of wasting our time while waiting for a direction. These areas are steadier than they were last year but not always clear-cut.
Cancer areas of our chart are significantly improving! We can still face opposition or feel a bit torn, but the Jupiter in Pisces periods are particularly helpful.
Leo areas of our chart continue to come under some fire in 2022. We could face pressure from others, especially, in the life departments ruled by Leo in our charts. We’re challenged by others, and we’re challenged to get our affairs in order. Changes or tensions and unpredictability in the Taurus areas of our charts can compete with the Leo areas. Rigidity and rules in the Aquarius areas tend to affect and sometimes undermine us in the Leo areas. However, when Jupiter is in Aries this year, Leo areas feel more encouraged.
Life departments ruled by Virgo in our charts are mostly coasting along. There is long-term, ongoing “up in the air” energy in the Pisces part of our charts that often seems to undercut Virgo areas. This is not new, but there can be some help on its way when Jupiter is in Pisces. Otherwise, Virgo areas are gently encouraged to upgrade, update, and make progress.
Life departments ruled by Libra in our charts are stabilizing, although others may be getting more attention, sometimes at the cost of Libra areas.
Scorpio areas are a little more strained in 2022, although there are some very creative, happy outlets for tension. We can feel a little at the mercy of others in the areas of life ruled by Scorpio in our charts.
Sagittarius areas are not in the spotlight. We can feel that we’re struggling to grow things in these life departments due to uncertainty in Pisces areas. However, we’re finding some ways to feel grounded. Even if we don’t know where we’re heading, we’re practical enough to be productive instead of wasting our time while waiting for a direction. These areas are mostly steady but not always clear-cut.
The areas of our charts where we find Aquarius involve some lessons and strengthening exercises, and they require simplifying and hard (or smarter) work.
We begin to see some real growth and improvements in Pisces areas. In these life departments, we’ve been procrastinating, waiting, or feeling up in the air at times, while at other times, we feel inspired. We’ll begin to realize some of our dreams in these areas in 2022.
