Last
Quarter Moon
Monday, November 9th, 2009, at 10:56 AM EST.
Monday morning, the Last Quarter Moon is exact, when the Sun in Scorpio
squares off with the Moon in Leo. The Last Quarter Moon phase points to some
sort of crisis of consciousness. After basking in the awareness symbolized by
the full light of the Moon at the time of last week's Full Moon, we disperse our
knowledge
and come to a point when we need to sort out what works for us--and what
doesn't--in preparation for next week's New Moon, when something new is born once
again. This is not the best time to start a major project, as the decreasing
light of the Moon symbolizes a descent into unconsciousness. It's time to begin
finishing up the details of that which was conceived at the last New Moon on
October 18th. What revelations did you have last week? What did they mean for you?
What can be done now?
This phase of the Moon occurs at 17 degrees and 23 minutes of Scorpio and
Leo, affecting people born with personal planets and points at
approximately 15 to 19 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and
Aquarius) most significantly.

The Sun is in Scorpio; Mercury
is in Scorpio; Venus is in
Scorpio; Mars
is in Leo.
The Sun is in Scorpio from October 23-November 21. The guiding
principle of Scorpio is "I desire". Scorpio is the sign of depth, intimacy,
and extremes of feeling. Superficiality simply will not do with the Sun in
Scorpio. We have the desire to get to the bottom of matters. Mediocrity does
not satisfy either. All that is hidden, taboo, secret, or suppressed
interests us. In Libra, we strived towards equality and fairness. Scorpio,
however, instinctively believes that life simply isn't fair. Scorpio's
energy is provocative, usually in a quiet way, as well as passionate,
strong-willed, and intense. It can be an immensely healing and
transformative energy. Jealousy, vindictiveness, beating a dead horse, and
manipulative are some of the more negative expressions of Scorpio.
Mercury is in Scorpio from October 28-November 15.
When Mercury is in Scorpio, our thoughts and communications are more probing
and intense. While Mercury in Libra urged us to find balance and to arrive
at fair solutions, Mercury in Scorpio instinctively knows that life simply isn't
fair. Mercury in Scorpio seeks truths in all that is hidden and undercover.
We tend to probe, observe, and focus our thoughts under this influence. Looking
for motivations--the more deeply buried the better--satisfies an intellectual
need now. Our thoughts are profound. We throw away superficial manners of
communicating in favor of deep conversations. Scorpio is extremely sharp,
profound, and analytical. Thinking is inclined to be one-track minded,
focused, and even obsessive.
Venus is in Scorpio from November 7-December 1. Deeply passionate
relations are the focus now with Venus in Scorpio. Superficial flirtations and
contacts do not satisfy now, as we yearn for "body and soul" contact with
someone special--contact that breaks the taboos, that is extreme and intense,
and that is unforgettable. This is a highly emotional position for Venus. It is
a passionate, sensual, and intense energy. Our relationships are immensely
important to us, and we may even feel that they consume us. In fact, we tend to
want to be consumed by them! Our drive is toward intense closeness, but blind
faith in our partners is extremely hard for us now. Fears of being too
vulnerable or of giving up our own power to others are strong. Scorpio is an
"all or nothing" energy, and relationships tend to be somewhat of a
rollercoaster ride as a result. Disdain for mediocrity and superficiality can
compel us to create crises in order to feel alive and vital.
Mars is in Leo for an extended stay from October 16, 2009
to June
7, 2010. In Leo, Mars is proud, self-confident, and grand. We
are spirited and have grand goals. We go after what we want in a direct,
self-assured manner, desiring dramatic results. We prefer not to worry about
details, and take the least complicated route to our goals. The sex drive is
strong, and passion for life is high.
Jupiter entered Aquarius on January 5th, 2009, and will stay in the
sign until January 17, 2010. Read more about Jupiter's transit through Aquarius

Romance & Relationships
Venus is in
Scorpio from November 7-December 1. Deeply passionate relations are
the focus with Venus in Scorpio. Superficial flirtations and contacts do not
satisfy now, as we yearn for "body and soul" contact with someone
special--contact that breaks the taboos, that is extreme and intense, and that
is unforgettable. This is a highly emotional position for Venus. It is a
passionate, sensual, and intense energy.
If a relationship
becomes too settled or predictable, we may crave more intensity and catalytic
experience. Jealousies, fears of betrayal, and power games are the shadow side
of Venus in Scorpio. We may easily become obsessed with a fear that our partners
might be betraying us, or that they are not as consumed and dedicated to the
relationship as us. This can lead us to try to uncover the "truth", reading too
many negative possibilities in our partners' actions and words.
This week: The Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Neptune are all
in Fixed signs this week, suggesting very stubborn energy that resists change
for the sake of change. We're more likely to hold on to what we have than reach
out and explore the new this week. Sunday and Monday brings opportunities to
reach a deeper level of intimacy with a partner. Attractions are strong and
intense, quite pleasantly so. Friday and Saturday brings surprises and some
instability to the mix, with Venus in hard aspect to Uranus.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming
Week:
Venus in Scorpio November 7-December 1. This is way beyond love,
all the way to obsession - that's the nature of the cycle that now takes
hold in your life. We're not talking just lukewarm WANT here; we're talking
red-hot GOT TO HAVE! Passion, jealousy, possession: these are the kinds of
experiences that can flow from the intensity that courses through you at one
level or another now - voracious.
Venus parallel Chiron November 3-4. Healing energy is brought to love relationships,
and a new cycle begins. A commitment-friendly transit. Love can heal old
wounds. We are open to romantic feelings, and more willing to act upon them.
This is a good time to make a resolution to repair, heal, and improve
relationships.
Venus sextile Pluto November 8-9. Subtly powerful and uplifting time for
romantic/sexual relationships. New insights into relationships and love. Strong
attractions.
Venus sesquiquadrature Uranus November 13-14. Uncertainty about the
desire to be close to someone. Freedom versus closeness. A desire to experiment
in the romance department may be fleeting and ultimately unsatisfying or
frustrating.
Venus square Mars November 18-19. Passions run high under this influence. Sexual tensions
and competitiveness are possible, and there can be conflicts that arise from
distinct differences between romantic and sexual needs. There is an air of
competitiveness under this influence, which need not be difficult. It can be
stimulating, creative, passionate, and invigorating.
The Moon & Timing
The
Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its
last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During Void of
Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to
begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is
indicated here, and is indicative of the "outcome" of the matter (whether
that is a new project begun before the void period, or the answer to a
question in Horary Astrology). Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you
were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in
Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to
any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not
forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The
Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary
Astrology.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Saturday, November
7th, from 5:26 PM EST, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a
trine to Uranus), until the Moon enters Leo the next day, Sunday, November 8th,
at 5:23 AM EST.
VOC Moon on Monday, November 9th, from 9:44 PM EST, with the Moon's last aspect
before changing signs (an opposition to Neptune), until the Moon enters Virgo
the next day, Tuesday, November 10th, at
8:31 AM EST.
VOC Moon on Thursday, November 12th, from 2:14 AM EST, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a
sextile to Mercury), until the Moon enters Libra at 12:23 PM EST.
VOC Moon on Saturday, November 14th, from 6:11 AM EST, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a
trine to Neptune), until the Moon enters Scorpio at
5:25 PM EST.

The Astrology of 2009 - Overview
Note: Times given ET.
This Week's Calendar

Sun semi-square Saturn. It's hard to satisfy the ego today. We feel blocked
by circumstances or others. It's too easy to feel discouraged, but
discouragement is a time waster. Gratitude isn't forthcoming right now, so
it's best to wait it out rather than waste energy letting it get to you.

Mercury square Jupiter. Information overload is possible today. It is all
too easy to miss or neglect important details. We may exaggerate, have a
hard time putting our ideas to practical use, or overstate under this
influence. This is an unfavorable transit for travel. Our ideas and plans
may be too grandiose just now. We could have a hard time convincing others
of our point of view, and we could too easily jump to conclusions. There could
be a lot of talk about nothing. Lack of clear mental focus, but we may make
measurable progress if we can focus.

Sun semi-square Pluto. A tendency to want to control our lives through some form
of manipulation is strong during this influence. Meeting with obstacles in our
paths, however, can force us into the position of using all of our resources to
fight back, and we can discover resources we never knew we had in the process.

Venus sextile Pluto. If we seize the opportunity, this is a good time for both
finances and relationships. The feelings are impassioned, but not in an
offensive or unpleasant way. We are focused and confident, and we appreciate
depth of feeling and authenticity in our dealings with others.

Mercury square Chiron. Communications may be strained, and possibly hurtful
or perceived as such. Misunderstandings are more likely now. Decisions may
also be hard to come by, as we tend to doubt ourselves or the effectiveness
of our ability to solve problems. It can be hard to read the intention
behind the words used to communicate now.

Sun square Jupiter. We may feel vague restlessness and discontent with life as
it is. We want more, but perhaps too much. Overestimation and exaggeration.
Elevated moods, but unstable ones, as they may not be based on reality.
Channeled well, this energy can represent creative power.

Mercury trine Uranus. This is an opportune time to attend meetings and other
organized group activities, to communicate online, and to take part in
activities involving computers, scientific projects, and metaphysics.
Unexpected gains may be realized through such mediums. The intuition is
strong, and insights seem to come from "out of the blue". Original, creative
ideas are easy to come by.

Mercury square Neptune. We find it hard to follow facts, directions, and
instructions. Difficulties concentrating on hard, cold facts are likely; and
we may question facts altogether or avoid being pinned down for answers.
This is a bad time for signing on the dotted line. Perceptions are confused,
unrealistic, or too idealistic to carry weight in the real world.
Conversations may be vague.

Sun square Chiron. The desire to learn and grow through experiences and through
others is strong, but may be hampered by a lack of confidence or a fear of being
different. We might experience a lack of faith in our own decisions. We could
too easily follow others' leads due to self-doubt, or simply to please them and
out of fear of asserting our own desires.

Venus sesquiquadrate Uranus. Unusual attractions (to people and things)
can have us acting on a whim. We may deal with freedom versus closeness issues
in our relationships.

Sun trine Uranus. An original, unique approach to life is in order with this
transit, and works to our benefit. Flexibility is the key to success at this
time, and pleasant changes are in store. We may make some creative changes and
discoveries, experiment with new possibilities, or invent a new way of doing
things. This is a dynamic and exciting period, one in which taking advantage of
unusual or unconventional opportunities may reap rewards.

What's In Store By the Stars - Daily Astrology Trends
November 8
The
Sun semi-squares Saturn and Pluto, and is basically at the midpoint of the
almost exact Saturn-Pluto square. It can be very hard to satisfy the ego today. We
could feel blocked
by circumstances or others. A tendency to want to control our lives through some form
of manipulation is strong during this influence. Meeting with obstacles in our
paths, however, can force us into the position of using all of our resources to
fight back, and we can discover resources we never knew we had in the process.
It's too easy to feel discouraged, but discouragement is a time waster.
Gratitude isn't forthcoming right now, so it's best to wait it out rather than
waste energy letting it get to you.
Mercury squares Jupiter today, and information overload is possible. It is all
too easy to miss or neglect important details. We may exaggerate, have a
hard time putting our ideas to practical use, or overstate under this
influence. We could have a hard time convincing others
of our point of view, and we could too easily jump to conclusions. There could
be a lot of talk about nothing and lack of clear mental focus, but we may make
measurable progress if we can focus. The Moon moves from sentimental Cancer
to outgoing Leo at 5:23 AM EST. The Moon ends its void period when it enters
Leo at 5:23 AM EST.
November 9
Venus sextiles Pluto very early into the day, and if we seize the opportunity, this is a good time for both
finances and relationships. The feelings are impassioned, but not in an
offensive or unpleasant way. We are focused and confident, and we appreciate
depth of feeling and authenticity in our dealings with others. The Moon in
Leo (all day) is proud and dynamic, and is challenged by one planet after
another today! This suggests challenges to meeting our emotional needs for
entertainment, romance, and self-expression. At 10:56 AM EST, the Last Quarter
Moon is exact, when the Sun in Scorpio squares off with the Moon in Leo. The
Last Quarter Moon phase points to some sort of crisis of consciousness. After
basking in the awareness symbolized by the full light of the Moon at the time of
last week's Full Moon, we disperse our knowledge and come to a point when we
need to sort out what works for us--and what doesn't--in preparation for next
week's New Moon, when something new is born once again. This is not the best
time to start a major project, as the decreasing light of the Moon symbolizes a
descent into unconsciousness. It's time to begin finishing up the details of
that which was conceived at the last New Moon on October 18th.
A void of course Moon occurs from 9:44 PM EST, with the Moon's last aspect
before changing signs (an opposition to Neptune), until the Moon enters Virgo
tomorrow, November 10th, at
8:31 AM EST.
November 10
The Moon moves from proud Leo to busy Virgo at 8:31 AM EST today. This morning, Mercury squares Chiron,
and communications may be strained, and possibly even hurtful
(or perceived as such). Misunderstandings are more likely under this
influence. Decisions may
also be hard to come by, as we tend to doubt ourselves or the effectiveness
of our ability to solve problems. It can be hard to read the intention
behind the words used to communicate now. The
Sun squares Jupiter early afternoon, and we may feel vague restlessness and discontent with life as
it is. We want more, but perhaps too much. Overestimation and exaggeration are
more likely now. We are inclined to experience elevated moods, but unstable ones, as they may not be based on reality!
Channeled well, however, this energy can represent creative power. The Moon ends its void period when it enters Virgo at 8:31 AM
EST. November 11
The Moon is in Mercury-ruled communicative and busy Virgo all day, and
Mercury is also "busy" forming aspects today. This morning, a trine to Uranus
makes it a good time for attending meetings or group activities, communicating
online, and anything that combines communication with science and technology.
Our intuition is strong, and insights seem to come from "out of the blue". Original, creative
ideas are easy to come by. Still, Mercury squares Neptune this evening, and
facts may be skewed. It's a favorable time for reminiscing or creative
visualization, but because we find it hard to follow facts, directions, and
instructions under this influence, it's not a good time for signing on the
dotted line, so to speak, or for anything that requires concentrating on hard, cold facts. Perceptions are confused,
unrealistic, or too idealistic to carry weight in the real world.
Conversations may be vague. Mercury also contraparallels Mars tonight,
adding a touch of aggression to our thoughts and communications. The desire to
set things right may be with us, but we may lack the necessary finesse to do so. November 12
The Moon moves from detail-oriented Virgo to relationship-oriented Libra
approximately halfway through the day, at 12:23 PM EST.
Creating order is the focus while the Moon is in Libra, not necessarily through
tidying or organizing as was the case while the Moon was in Virgo, but rather
through pleasing interactions with others and aesthetics in our environment. We
tend to solve problems through diplomacy, and we are more able to put aside our
own emotions in order to achieve the peace we crave. The Moon aligns with Saturn
in Libra early afternoon, reminding us of our priorities and responsibilities,
and also squares Pluto shortly thereafter, reminding us of our desire for power,
effectiveness, and control over our lives in perhaps disturbing or
confrontational ways.
The Moon is void of course from 2:14 AM EST, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a
sextile to Mercury), until the Moon enters Libra at 12:23 PM EST. November
13
The Moon is in gracious Libra all day, and balancing our
personal desires with those of another is likely to figure strongly now.
Moderating, negotiating, and compromise are themes today. "Paralysis by
analysis" could be an issue, as the tendency to weigh all perspectives and to
consider all possibilities can leave us sitting on the fence, afraid to make a
definite decision. This is especially likely with the Sun square Chiron this
morning. The desire to learn and grow through experiences and through
others is strong, but may be hampered by a lack of confidence or a fear of being
different. We might experience a lack of faith in our own decisions. We could
too easily follow others' leads due to self-doubt, or simply to please them, and
out of fear of asserting our own desires. The Moon harmonizes with Jupiter
tonight, offering us happy energy, particularly for socializing and connecting.
November 14
Venus in dynamic aspect to Uranus in the early hours of the morning might
point to surprises on the level of feelings and relationships. Unusual attractions (to people and
things) can have us acting on a whim. The Moon continues its journey through
equality-minded Libra until 5:25 PM EST, not before harmonizing with both Chiron
and Neptune and offering us many opportunities to enjoy ourselves, our fantasies
and dreams, and the input of others. The Moon then enters passionate Scorpio,
and the Sun trines Uranus this evening.
The Moon is void of course from 6:11 AM EST, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a
trine to Neptune), until the Moon enters Scorpio at
5:25 PM EST.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Cancer
 The
restlessness of the Gemini Moon gives way to an instinctive
need for peace and quiet. A feeling of belonging and safety is what motivates us
under this influence. The Moon feels right at home in the sign of Cancer, as it
rules the sign. This Moon position has much healing potential. Although insular
by nature, our feelings run deep, making it an ideal time to get in touch with
what motivates us.
The Moon in Cancer generally favors the following activities: Domestic
activities, those that involve awareness of personal needs. Home decor, family
get-togethers.
When the Moon
is in Leo
 The
Moon in Leo speaks to our "inner child". It's a warm, generous, whole-heartedly
loving position. Pride keeps us from pettiness, but it can also prevent us from
opening up and revealing how we are truly feeling. We are on stage, our feelings
are grand, and we appreciate some drama in our lives. We are easily threatened
by anything that seems to be impersonal. This is a time when we seek
attention--when we want to stand out for our special qualities. It's a strong
time for romance and any creative activity as well.
The Moon in Leo generally favors the following activities: Creative activities,
activities involving children, generous undertakings, undertakings in which
personal recognition is desired, and risk-taking.
When the Moon is in Virgo
 We
instinctually gravitate towards practical activities under the influence of a
Virgo Moon. In an urge to set things right, we might easily find ourselves
re-organizing and rethinking plans. Emotional satisfaction comes from solving
problems, making order out of confusion, and helping others. Health matters
might come into focus. We notice the smaller parts that make up the whole, and
instead of letting nagging details bother us, we might work on ironing them out
so that we can feel more confident moving ahead.
The Moon in Virgo generally favors the following activities: Mental pursuits,
work activities, services, and routines. Activities that would benefit from
tending to details.
When the Moon is in Libra
 Creating
order is the focus, not necessarily through tidying or organizing as was the
case while the Moon was in Virgo, but rather through pleasing interactions with
others and aesthetics in our environment. We tend to solve problems through
diplomacy, and we are more able to put aside our own emotions in order to
achieve the peace we crave. The tendency now is to avoid direct confrontations.
Decisions do not come easily. Seeing both sides to any given situation is the
main reason for hesitation. Fear of losing others' approval is another.
The Moon in Libra generally favors the following activities: Relationship and
partnership issues, activities involving teamwork and cooperation, activities
that involve self-examination, activities related to beauty.
When the Moon
is in Scorpio
 Intensity
is what the Moon in Scorpio is all about. Whether it's passion, elation, sorrow,
or desire, emotions are felt on a deeply personal level. We are motivated by the
desire to get to the bottom of things, and we instinctively read between the
lines. Superficiality won't work for us now. The Moon in Scorpio urges us to
uncover our own power, and it's an excellent time to rid ourselves of old fears
and limiting habits. It can be an intimate and passionate time. Avoid
manipulative tactics, brooding, and suspiciousness.
The Moon in Scorpio generally favors the following activities: Taxes,
accounting, intimacy issues, psychological examinations, research,
self-examination, getting rid of old things.

This Week's Planetary
Positions By Sign (General Trends):
Sun in Scorpio Who owes what, who owns
what, and who decides these things: these are some of the major issues for
you at the dawn of the cycle that now begins in your life. The only thing we
really own is our consciousness; the only master who is never overthrown is
oneself. These are lessons best learned early in this cycle. Master them,
and you master everything. Dodge these issues, and the great strength that
could be yours will remain just out of reach. Understanding inner
motivations, seeing through to the core: that's your real path of power and
enlightenment now.
Mercury in Scorpio A pronounced curiosity
about taboos and mysteries plays a greater part in your life now. Your mind
is on cutting through the nonessentials and penetrating to the core is where
your mind is at now; you want to know who (or what) pulls the strings. Sex,
taxes, investments, and others of life's most compelling phenomena may
captivate your interest more than ever before.
Venus in Scorpio This is way beyond love,
all the way to obsession - that's the nature of the cycle that now takes
hold in your life. We're not talking just lukewarm WANT here; we're talking
red-hot GOT TO HAVE! Passion, jealousy, possession: these are the kinds of
experiences that can flow from the intensity that courses through you at one
level or another now - voracious.
Mars in Leo The thrill of the chase, the
smell of the greasepaint, the roar of the crowd: that's what gets your
juices flowing now that you've entered a new cycle. To be appreciated, to be
admired (adored, even) - that's what you crave. It's a time of creativity,
drama, and passion; a time when grabbing the spotlight and stealing the
scene gives you a thrill. Is winning everything? No - but it's way ahead of
whatever comes in second!
Jupiter in Aquarius Innovation, reform, and idealism are your paths
to growth and gain now. New, futuristic ideas are part of this, but it's
much more than that: putting them into practice is essential because this is
much more than empty idealism. A break from the past, a willingness to
flaunt convention.
Saturn in Virgo An emphasis on discipline with regard to work and
health is a keynote of the cycle now dawning in your life. Procedures,
scheduling, details: you're apt to be weak in these areas unless you take
steps to correct deficiencies. Do this, and you make progress; otherwise,
you have to run faster just to avoid falling behind.
Uranus in Pisces Radical mysticism,
idealistic visions, new insights into the linkage between the past and
future: all these things are accentuated now, as you come into a new cycle.
Experimenting with artistic norms and breaking the rules satisfy an inner
need, yet may exact a toll if you are not conscientious about it.
Neptune in Aquarius Humanistic ideals and
a belief that technology and social reform can create a utopia become
powerful and inspiring images at this time. Personal and selfish concerns
seem petty and ignorant - and all the more so if they are part of the status
quo. Liberty, equality, fraternity: are they the ultimate answers or only
the foundations for something that transcends them all?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the
pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary
and inevitable - and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small, but
has bigger consequences than you'd think. Ambition, responsibility, a place
for everyone and everyone in their place...
