Daily Trends
The FIRST QUARTER MOON occurs on Monday, November 4th, 2019, at 5:23 AM EST.
On Friday morning, the First Quarter Moon is exact, when the Sun in Scorpio forms a square with the Moon in Aquarius.
There is a crisis theme surrounding any quarter Moon phase, as we feel compelled to take action. Shortly after, we are made aware of how our actions affect those close to us, perhaps through trial and error. Whatever project or initiative we began around the New Moon is now off the ground, and it may face its first obstacles.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 11 degrees and 42 minutes of Aquarius forming a square with the Sun at 11 degrees and 42 minutes of Scorpio, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 10 to 14 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) most significantly.

(Times are Eastern)
This week: The Sun is in Scorpio; Mercury is in Scorpio; Venus is in Sagittarius; Mars is in Libra.
The Sun is in Scorpio from October 23-November 22. The guiding principle of Scorpio is “I desire”. Scorpio is the sign of depth, intimacy, and extremes of feeling. Superficiality simply will not do with the Sun in Scorpio. We have the desire to get to the bottom of matters. Mediocrity does not satisfy either. All that is hidden, taboo, secret, or suppressed interests us. In Libra, we strived towards equality and fairness. Scorpio, however, instinctively believes that life simply isn’t fair. Scorpio’s energy is provocative, usually in a quiet way, as well as passionate, strong-willed, and intense. It can be an immensely healing and transformative energy. Jealousy, vindictiveness, beating a dead horse, and manipulative are some of the more negative expressions of Scorpio.
Mercury is in Scorpio from October 3-December 9. When Mercury is in Scorpio, our thoughts and communications are more probing and intense. While Mercury in Libra urged us to find balance and to arrive at fair solutions, Mercury in Scorpio instinctively knows that life simply isn’t fair. Mercury in Scorpio seeks truths in all that is hidden and undercover. We tend to probe, observe, and focus our thoughts under this influence. Looking for motivations–the more deeply buried the better–satisfies an intellectual need now. Our thoughts are profound. We throw away the superficial manners of communicating in favor of deep conversations. Scorpio is extremely sharp, profound, and analytical. Thinking is inclined to be one-track minded, focused, and even obsessive.
Venus is in Sagittarius from November 1-25. Moving from Scorpio to Sagittarius, romantic energy shifts from intense to buoyant. Sagittarius, of course, has its intense moments, considering it is a fire sign. However, its energy is considerably less focused; and, while Scorpio is most concerned with intimacy with a specific person, Sagittarius’ love is of a more universal kind. Romantic adventures, as well as a straightforward–even blunt–approach to love, are on the agenda. Gone are the intricacy and complexity of Venus in Scorpio. Truth and higher meaning are things that take priority with Sagittarius.
Mars is in Libra from October 4-November 19. We tend to use our charm as a means to an end under the influence of this cycle. Because we can see many different sides to an issue, we can be vacillating and indecisive about how to act. We don’t want to be the “bad guy”, and rarely resort to force. Instead, we attempt to win arguments with style. We are indirect in approach and inclined towards engaging in mental debates, yet we also attempt to make the opposition comfortable! Passive-aggressiveness is the shadow side of this energy.
Jupiter entered Sagittarius on November 8th, 2018, and transits the sign until December 2nd, 2019. Read more about the Jupiter in Sagittarius transit.
Saturn transits Capricorn from December 19/20, 2017, to March 21, 2020; and then finishes up its transit from July 1 to December 17, 2020. Read about Saturn’s transit through Capricorn here.
Uranus is in Taurus. Uranus first transited Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and is now consistently in the sign (since March 6th, 2019) until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle. There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Sagittarius from November 1 to 25, 2019. Moving from Scorpio to Sagittarius, romantic energy changes from intense to buoyant. Sagittarius, of course, has its intense moments, considering it is a fire sign. However, its energy is considerably less focused; and, while Scorpio is most concerned with intimacy, Sagittarius’ love is of a more universal kind. Romantic adventures, as well as a straightforward–even blunt–approach to love, are on the agenda. Gone are the intricacy and complexity of Venus in Scorpio. Truth and higher meaning are focal points for Sagittarius. Venus in Sagittarius is forward-looking, not very specific, outgoing, and energetic. Freedom is most important in our love relationships now. We take a happy and enthusiastic approach to love, and we might find too much intensity or seriousness depressing. We have a taste for the exotic as well as for adventure with Venus in Sagittarius. The shadow side of this position is restlessness, the inability to settle down, and endlessly searching for something bigger and “better.”
This week: Venus forms a quincunx to Uranus from Monday to Tuesday, and we can be uncertain how to integrate our needs for companionship with the desire to be free or independent. Venus gets between the separating Mars-Pluto square, forming minor challenging aspects to both bodies, from Tuesday to Thursday. This points to minor tensions related to fear, jealousy, and tricky power dynamics. Thursday and Friday, we’re serious about our feelings, and we’re taking our relationships seriously, as well.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Sagittarius November 1-25. A yearning for adventure and far horizons stirs in you now. To roam, to wander and wonder, to seek freedom and go where no one has gone before – these things are deep and powerful longings. A time of romantic crusades, a universal love that might not be too particular.
Venus trine Chiron November 2-3. A commitment-friendly transit. Love can heal old wounds. We are open to romantic feelings.
Venus parallel Mercury November 3-4. A congenial time when we appreciate diplomacy and socialize more readily.
Venus quincunx Uranus November 4-5. Impulsive spending, peculiar attractions, fear of commitment, freedom vs. intimacy issues. We might question whether we need more excitement in our relationships, or whether we need freedom from them, yet we don’t feel confident enough to rock the boat.
Venus semi-square Pluto November 5-6. Tendencies to look for something wrong in a relationship. Jealousy raises its ugly head.
Venus semi-square Mars November 6-7. Tensions in relationships. Attempting to satisfy romantic needs and assertive/sexual needs simultaneously can be challenging.
Venus parallel Saturn November 7-8. We may express our affection sparingly, but also responsibly and in practical ways. Relationships begun under this influence often feel burdensome over time, but they may last longer than most.
Venus parallel Pluto November 7-8. The desire for drama and intensity in relationships is with us. Love feelings and relationship issues can be all-consuming now, assuming more importance in our lives than usual. Interactions with others are intense now, and themes of sharing and trust dominate in relationships.
Venus square Neptune November 13-14. Relationship ups and downs characterize this transit–a time when romantic mirages are more than likely. We see what we hope to see, rather than what really is. The “highs” of a relationship begun under this energy may be thrilling, but the accompanying “lows” are bound to set in, and they can be extremely draining. Be careful not to set yourself up for disappointment.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Sunday, November 3rd, from 1:46 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Mercury), until the Moon enters Aquarius at 6:19 AM EST.
VOC Moon on Tuesday, November 5th, from 9:37 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Mercury), until the Moon enters Pisces at 6:08 PM EST.
VOC Moon on Thursday, November 7th, from 8:13 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Aries the next day, Friday, November 8th, at 6:49 AM EST.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Venus trine Chiron. We have the chance to heal our personal relationships now, as we are more open to intimacy and commitment, as well as learning from one another. We more easily see the beauty in human weaknesses, and are less inclined to see fault or to concern ourselves with fault. It’s a strong time for building trust in relationships, and for seeing potential in one another.
Venus quincunx Uranus. Impulsive spending, peculiar attractions, fear of commitment, and freedom vs. intimacy issues may be themes now. We might question whether we need more excitement in our relationships (or leisure activities), or whether we need freedom from them, yet we don’t feel confident enough to rock the boat.
Mars square Pluto. Our desires are intense and difficult to satisfy under this influence. A tendency to bully and confront may dominate. Efforts to make changes could be thwarted, or power struggles emerge. The trick is to remain flexible and to develop strategies for achieving our goals. The desire to get the upper hand is strong, but it’s unlikely to happen under this influence. It would be wise to observe whatever powerful feelings that confrontations or conflicts arouse under this influence, as this transit has a way of pulling out suppressed matter, or emotional “slush”. Passions run high, and so does sexual energy.
Venus semi-square Pluto. This influence can point to some underlying tensions in social interactions (looking for an ulterior motive or an agenda, suspiciousness) and relationships (possible jealousies). Passions run high and hot, but there’s a hidden agenda. Feelings of jealousy and possessiveness run so close to the surface that others can almost feel the heat, and they are in direct proportion to our fear of losing something or someone dear to us. Avoid starting a new relationship at this time, because it can be characterized by these energies. Sometimes, this transit correlates with unreciprocated feelings in love or romantic disappointment. Often, financial matters come to the fore. Manipulation can color relationships now. Avoid power plays with friends and lovers.
Venus semi-square Mars. Potential tensions in relationships. Attempting to satisfy romantic needs and assertive/sexual needs simultaneously can be challenging. Be wary of making impulse purchases. There is an air of competitiveness under this influence, which need not be difficult. It can be stimulating and invigorating.
Sun sextile Saturn. We feel grounded and stable. It’s easy to stick to a specific task and make headway. Productivity may be slow, but it’s steady. We are taking into account practical considerations and we are especially aware of the element of time. We are more able to discipline ourselves and put our egos aside in order to get the job done.
Sun trine Neptune. We’re at the right place at the right time, probably because our hunches are more likely to be correct and we are “tuned in”. We are inspired, and charitable acts now will serve to lift our spirits like no drug can. A good time for self-improvement programs or efforts. Instinctual judgment is enhanced under this influence. We are able to see matters, and people, from a different perspective-one that allows for, and even finds beauty in, differences.
Saturn sextile Neptune. Saturn’s discipline can help bring structure or meaning to our dreams and ideals. At the same time, Neptune’s acceptance and devotion can help bring new meaning to our work, traditions, and customs. It’s easier to find meaning in our lives with this influence. We can feel as if our spiritual and material goals harmonize or at least don’t get in each other’s way. Circumstances and our own attitudes facilitate following through on our dreams or turning our visions and ideals into reality. Combining imagination and effort is successful now. There can be a sense that our dreams are realizable, and we can build stronger faith and acceptance.
Sun sesquiquadrate Chiron. The desire to learn and grow through experiences and through others is strong but may be hampered by a lack of confidence or a fear of being different.
Mercury sextile Pluto. We possess more insight and psychological understanding than usual. We are willing to look beyond the surface of things and investigate further. Perhaps more importantly, we are more patient and strategic in our decision-making.

NOVEMBER 3
With Venus trine Chiron today, we may get an opportunity to heal our relationships, as we are especially open to learning from one another. We more easily see the beauty of human weaknesses. It’s a strong time for building trust in relationships, and for seeing potential in one another. We see the value of the people, relationships, pleasures, and things in our lives more clearly. We can benefit from interacting with others in fresh ways, with more authenticity and openness. The Moon heads into the sign of Aquarius at 6:20 AM EST, and we’re enthusiastic and hopeful, playing with exciting ideas and making plans. This Moon transit encourages us to seek out intellectual stimulation and unusual or unconventional experiences. The Aquarius Moon is earnest, friendly, and principled.
The void Moon occurs from 1:46 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Mercury), until the Moon enters Aquarius at 6:20 AM EST.
NOVEMBER 4
This morning, the First Quarter Moon is exact with the Sun in Scorpio square the Moon in Aquarius. There is a crisis theme surrounding any quarter Moon phase, as we feel compelled to take action. There can be some trial and error or tension to manage now, although it can also help motivate us to make a move. Whatever project or initiative that we started around the New Moon is now off the ground, and it may face its first obstacles. The Moon’s trine to Mars tonight helps with energy levels, but we’re approaching a Mars-Pluto square that complicates things, potentially stimulating intense desires that may not easily be satisfied. Power struggles can emerge. We crave a sense of control over events, relationships, and circumstances, and become frustrated at any sign that we don’t have it. There may be arguments, standstills, and power games now. Attempts to gain control and power are fruitless. It would be wise to observe and learn from whatever powerful feelings arise from confrontations or conflicts now. The trick to handling this energy is to remain flexible and to develop strategies for achieving our goals. As well, Venus is approaching a quincunx to Uranus, and we can have a hard time integrating our needs for companionship or closeness with our desire for freedom and independence. There is a sense that we can only have one or the other when a compromise is possible.
NOVEMBER 5
A long-term influence, a parallel between Saturn and Pluto, is exact again today (this also occurred in March and July). This is not to be confused with the Saturn-Pluto conjunction that will occur in January 2020, although its influence is similar. Today’s parallel prompts a strong need for reorganization and discipline. It demands hard work at remodeling and renovating our careers and goals or a particular area of our lives. In this area, we can experience the need to rebuild as well as intense ambition, great dedication, commitment, or perhaps obsession. We can feel driven to achieve and accomplish something. We should watch for abuse of power or living on fear, although moderate levels of fear/concern can be useful to motivate us to make improvements and to strengthen certain vulnerable areas of our lives. This morning, the Mars-Pluto square discussed yesterday perfects, pulling up tension if we’re not comfortable with our desires or position. This aspect occurs around the time of the Moon’s square to retrograde Mercury, and it’s best not to push matters since miscommunications can figure strongly. The Moon continues its transit of Aquarius until 6:08 PM EST today, after which it transits Pisces.
The void Moon occurs from 9:37 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Mercury), until the Moon enters Pisces at 6:08 PM EST.
NOVEMBER 6
With a Venus-Pluto semi-square today, we may be tempted to try to manipulate or control others and situations, which can lead to unnecessary troubles. Jealousies or possessiveness can emerge. As well, with Mercury and Jupiter forming a semi-sextile, there can be some inability to settle on a particular idea, opinion, or project. However, we’re thinking positively, and we bounce back quickly from disappointment with this transit. As well, a Mars-Neptune creative aspect is brilliant for creative moves. While we’re unlikely to face them head-on, we can see the way around problems. The Moon is in Pisces all day, reinforcing the tendency to take an indirect approach. Decisions or commitments may not be easy with a Pisces Moon, but we’re also better able to move on and accept life for what it is.
NOVEMBER 7
The Moon spends the day in the sign of Pisces. The Pisces Moon is compassionate and spiritual, generally encouraging an intuitive approach to the day. However, the Moon forms a square to Jupiter, possibly prompting some missteps due to overblown expectations. As well, Venus semi-squares Mars today, which can create a tense and competitive or stimulating and invigorating environment, depending on how we approach it! This aspect tends to highlight differences in our approaches, desires, and needs, and tensions in relationships can result. Watch for impulsive moves, including purchases. A Sun-Saturn sextile is coming into play, exact midday tomorrow, helping us to see the value of grounding ourselves and exercising common sense as the day advances. At the same time, an impending Sun-Neptune trine encourages us to find a balance between imagination and practicality.
The Moon is void from 8:13 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Aries the next day, Friday, November 8th, at 6:49 AM EST.
NOVEMBER 8
Saturn and Neptune form a sextile for the third and final time in a set that first was exact in January. The Sun plays into this longer-term influence today as it sextiles Saturn and trines Neptune. These influences encourage us to come to a pleasing balance between practicality and inspiration. It’s an ideal time for finding ways to give ourselves more leeway where we’ve been too harsh or controlled, and on the other side of this, for bringing more discipline to areas where we’ve slacked. Both Saturn and Neptune are in the signs they rule (modern rulers) and connect harmoniously, boosting our ability to combine science and faith. We are both builders and dreamers under this significant and supportive influence. It can be a great time for defining our goals, bringing a vision to life, or putting effort or the legwork into realizing a dream. As well, it can be excellent for softening areas of our lives where we have become too rigid or materialistic. We may feel a stronger sense of mission or purpose, and it’s easier than usual to gravitate toward a better work-rest balance or to recognize the need to structure our spiritual lives or make regular time for attention to emotions, magic, romance, or inspiration. We might express our devotion through hard work or service. We can be moved to help, support, or give of ourselves. This can be a good time for self-improvement efforts, taking actions that build trust, and for the kind of self-awareness that leads to realistic plans and goals. Slow and steady suits us fine–and benefits us most! The Moon continues its transit of Pisces until it enters Aries at 6:49 AM EST.
The void Moon continues until 6:49 AM EST when the Moon enters Aries.
NOVEMBER 9
The Moon in Aries is direct and assertive, but a Sun-Chiron challenge this morning suggests some wavering of confidence. We may doubt our inner guide, and we may face situations that seem to test our vulnerabilities. Later today, retrograde Mercury forms a sextile to Pluto, boosting our ability to concentrate and strategize. This is a powerful time for looking behind us to gain a deeper understanding of a matter or to consider letting go of something that has kept us bound to harmful elements of the past. It’s also a time for investigating or researching issues further. We benefit from being patient and strategic in our decision-making.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Capricorn
We become aware of the need for structure and planning ahead. We also instinctively are aware of the limitations of time. We are motivated by a desire for success. Achievement and manifestation are most important to us now. We are resourceful and don't want to waste time, energy, or resources. This can be a very sober influence--even a depressing one. However, it can also be a productive time when we look reality in the eye.
The Moon in Capricorn generally favors the following activities: Long-term activities that yield slow but steady results, practical undertakings, career issues, making a business plan, practical investments.
When the Moon is in Aquarius
Attraction to all that is new and unusual, and an instinctive need for improvement, characterize the Moon in Aquarius. Reactions are more intellectual than emotional, and interactions are more impersonal than personal, under this influence. This is a time that promotes social gatherings, dealing with group ideals and goals for the future, brainstorming, new ideas, and progressive changes. We are open to new methods of doing things and we have our eye on the future. It can be hard to stick to schedules now, as personal freedom is most important to us.
The Moon in Aquarius generally favors the following activities: Unusual or radical undertakings, social pursuits, group projects, trying something new, joining a group.
When the Moon is in Pisces
We may not want to face reality while the Moon is in dreamy, impressionable Pisces. It can be a wistful, sensitive, intuitive, and compassionate time. We are especially imaginative, and our intuition reigns under this influence. Boundaries and walls come down, as Pisces energy merges and blends. It's a time when details are overlooked and feelings defy description.
The Moon in Pisces generally favors the following activities: Imaginative undertakings, mystical or spiritual pursuits, inner development, music and drama, going on a retreat, activities involving water.
When the Moon is in Aries
We're motivated by a strong desire to start fresh. A gut instinct to begin something new is with us now, as well as the gumption to do so. Our pioneering impulses are strong, and we feel energetic, spontaneous, and enthusiastic. We may also be tactless and impulsive now. Excess energy is best channeled into physical activity.
People can be more self-motivated and also self-focused while the Moon is in Aries. It's a competitive rather than cooperative time. Accidents and tempers flaring are more likely than usual. This period is one of more personal courage.
The Moon in Aries generally favors the following activities: Quick actions that yield immediate results. Undertakings that involve the self and the personality. (Staying power may be lacking). Self-assertion, taking on challenges, beginning short-term projects.

THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Scorpio Who owes what, who owns what, and who decides these things: these are some of the major issues for you at the dawn of the cycle that now begins in your life. The only thing we really own is our consciousness; the only master who is never overthrown is oneself. These are lessons best learned early in this cycle. Master them, and you master everything. Dodge these issues and the great strength that could be yours will remain just out of reach. Understanding inner motivations, seeing through to the core: that’s your real path of power and enlightenment now.
Mercury in Scorpio A pronounced curiosity about taboos and mysteries plays a greater part in your life now. Your mind is on cutting through the nonessentials and penetrating to the core is where your mind is at now; you want to know who (or what) pulls the strings. Sex, taxes, investments, and others of life’s most compelling phenomena may captivate your interest more than ever before.
Venus in Sagittarius A yearning for adventure and far horizons stirs in you now. To roam, to wander and wonder, to seek freedom and go where no one has gone before – these things are deep and powerful longings. A time of romantic crusades, a universal love that might not be too particular.
Mars in Libra “I’m giving you a definite maybe” – that’s the motto of the cycle you’re now entering. It’s a time of refinement and tact, of an urge to please others that is so strong as to make it hard to decide or act for fear of offending someone. You’ll quickly learn to balance this out, or you’ll discover that there is no peace in compromise – and this can be tough on close relationships. The trick is to find the win-win solution to the no-win situation – and if anyone’s ever up to it, you are now.
Jupiter in Sagittarius Faith, optimism, and a yearning to explore all kinds of new horizons: these are some of the focal points in your life at this time. Travel, education, and other ways to stretch your horizons open new doors of opportunity. Religious, philosophical, and cultural matters are likely to have special appeal for you now; transmitting ideas on a broader scale brings gain.
Saturn in Capricorn Responsibility, hard work, ambition, and achievement: these are the foundations you need to build on now, as a new cycle dawns in your life. And yet, there is a tendency to be a little too hard, perhaps a bit cold, in your approach to these things. Let ambition take you to the top, but don’t let it lull you into thinking that the end justifies the means.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone and everyone in their place…
