The First Quarter MOON occurs on Monday, June 10th, 2019, at 1:59 AM EDT.
Early Monday, the First Quarter Moon occurs when the Sun in Gemini forms a square with the Virgo Moon. There is a crisis theme surrounding any quarter Moon phase, as we feel compelled to take action. Shortly after, we are made aware of how our actions affect those close to us, perhaps through trial and error. Whatever project or initiative we began around the New Moon is now off the ground, and it may face its first obstacles.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 19 degrees and 6 minutes of Virgo square the Sun at 19 degrees and 6 minutes of Gemini, affecting people born with personal planets and points from approximately 17 to 21 degrees of the Mutable signs the most (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces).

This week: The Sun is in Gemini; Mercury is in Cancer; Venus is in Gemini; Mars is in Cancer.
The Sun is in Gemini from May 21-June 21. Knowledge and diversity motivate us with the Sun in Gemini. We are more sociable, intellectual, and insatiably curious under this influence. We tend to scatter our energies as a result of this curiosity and awareness of all of our options. We are more communicative and versatile, but we can also be unreliable.
Mercury is in Cancer from June 4-26 and then July 19-August 11. When Mercury is in Cancer, we move from the desire for quantity to the need for quality in terms of the information we are attracted to. We think, speak, and take in information on a deeper, more instinctive level now. We have less interest in what is universal, and more interest in what affects us personally and what affects the people around us. Our thoughts are colored by our emotions, so it is more challenging to be objective.
Venus is in Gemini from June 8-July 3. With Venus in Gemini, we have a finger in every pie. Curiosity motivates us on romantic and social levels. “Variety is the spice of life” is the attitude now. We are sociable, communicative, and interested. We can be animated and fun but may also keep our distance on an emotional level. Attractions now may begin with words, as we tend to bond more readily on a mental level with Venus in Gemini. The shadow side of Gemini is fickleness.
Mars is in Cancer from May 15-July 1. We pursue our interests ardently, but we avoid a direct approach to going after we want. As well, our goals and plans are subject to mood swings and vacillations. We are defensive rather than overtly aggressive. Much of what we do depends on our mood of the moment.
Saturn transits Capricorn from December 19/20, 2017, to March 21, 2020; and then finishes up its transit from July 1 to December 17, 2020. Read about Saturn’s transit through Capricorn here.
Jupiter entered Sagittarius on November 8th, 2018, and transits the sign until December 2nd, 2019. Read more about the Jupiter in Sagittarius transit.
Uranus is in Taurus. Uranus first transited Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and is now consistently in the sign (since March 6th, 2019) until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle. There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Gemini from June 8 to July 3, 2019. In Gemini, Venus is communicative, sociable but emotionally aloof, insatiably curious, and a little bit flighty. Inconsistency with our affections is a strong possibility, but the desire for a meeting of minds is strong and the urge to socialize dominates. Some detachment from our emotions is likely, which may be a breath of fresh air for some. The lines of communication open, although we may only scratch the surface of things. Under this influence, love is playful and lighthearted. Fickleness is the shadow side of Venus in Gemini.
This week: Sunday, the 9th, features some weird and confusing energy, as we are reactive with the Venus-Mars challenge, but we’re also inclined to deceive ourselves or to see what we want to see. It’s not the best time to make relationship decisions. Tuesday and Wednesday, we can feel a bit reticent with others and unsure of our feelings or others’ potential responses, which can lead us to keep things to ourselves. However, our hearts open later on Wednesday and into Thursday. We’re open to more intimacy and vulnerability through love or romance. However, Friday is difficult for interactions. We’re defensive and suspicious.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Gemini June 8-July 3. Saying (or writing) it with style comes naturally now. A yen for variety is a hallmark of this phase, and this especially applies to romantic experience and artistic tastes. (The latter tends to focus on literature in general and poetry in particular.) A sociable, congenial, slightly frivolous orientation sets in.
Venus semi-square Mars June 8-9. Tensions in relationships. Attempting to satisfy romantic needs and assertive/sexual needs simultaneously can be challenging.
Venus sesquiquadrate Saturn June 11-12. Feelings of isolation, of not getting what we really want, and of not being loved the way we want to be loved can get in the way of pleasant relations with our partners.
Venus sextile Chiron June 12-13. Love has the power to heal old wounds. We are open to romantic feelings and more willing to act upon them.
Venus sesquiquadrate Pluto June 14-15. Tendencies to look for something wrong in a relationship. Jealousy raises its ugly head.
Venus parallel Mars June 22-23. Favors romantic and sexual relationships. Intense passions.
Venus opposition Jupiter June 22-23. We are easily bored with the everyday responsibilities and routines of our love lives and are now inclined to dramatize our lives. As a result, our love natures are strong but insatiable. We may overstate our feelings as we temporarily overvalue someone, or we face challenges in our relationships due to overblown expectations. We are itching for adventure and fun, but the wisest course of action is to avoid ignoring our responsibilities (and reality) in our efforts towards self-gratification.
Venus quincunx Saturn June 23. A feeling that we may not be able to express our affections, or that our affections will not be received well, can undermine us in our relationships. Fear of rejection, emotional distancing, and over-sensitivity.
Venus square Neptune June 23-24. Relationship ups and downs characterize this transit–a time when romantic mirages are more than likely. We see what we hope to see, rather than what really is. The “highs” of a relationship begun under this energy may be thrilling, but the accompanying “lows” are bound to set in, and they can be extremely draining. Be careful not to set yourself up for disappointment.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Monday, June 10th, from 8:02 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Pluto), until the Moon enters Libra at 8:30 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Wednesday, June 12th from 11:15 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Pluto), until the Moon enters Scorpio the next day, Thursday, June 13th, at 12:03 AM EDT.
VOC Moon on Friday, June 14th, from 3:46 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Pluto), until the Moon enters Sagittarius the next day, Saturday, June 15th, at 5:03 AM EDT.

Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
This week, the Moon is waxing this week – a period that is generally considered favorable for new beginnings with exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details).
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs this week from Thursday, June 13th, at approximately 10:15 AM to Friday, June 14th, at approximately 3:40 PM EDT, while the Moon is in Scorpio. Note, however, that before 11:50 AM on June 14th, Mars applies to an opposition to Saturn, which is quite difficult energy to tie to any new beginning.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Venus semi-square Mars. Potential tensions in relationships. Attempting to satisfy romantic needs and assertive/sexual needs simultaneously can be challenging. Be wary of making impulse purchases. There is an air of competitiveness under this influence, which need not be difficult. It can be stimulating and invigorating.
Sun square Neptune. Concentrating on artistic or spiritual pursuits is better than focusing on things that require straightforward, factual thinking today. It can be difficult knowing where or how to direct your willpower under this influence. It’s also a challenge knowing where you stand with others. Avoid such things as scheduling surgery, important appointments, job interviews, or launches of new projects at this time.
Sun quincunx Saturn. Doubts, the feeling of not being good enough, and lack of self-confidence might plague us under this influence. Lack of faith in ourselves and in life hinders our movements and initiatives.
Sun opposition Jupiter. Conflicting urges with regards to what we think we should do and what we want to do can be frustrating now. There can be a tendency to go overboard and to indulge in extravagances. Watch for overestimating your capabilities now. Culminations or surprising changes in a project or ambition might occur now. The urge to grow and expand is strong, but we might overreach.
Sun semi-square Uranus. During this transit, we feel the need for action, but if we don’t know where we’re headed, we might take the wrong turn. Unexpected changes in plans or events can test our patience, and we might feel a bit out of control. However, they could stimulate us to try new approaches and they certainly act to cut boredom. This transit could offer us the drive to do something new, but avoid making hasty major decisions for the time being.
Venus sesquiquadrate Saturn. There may be difficulties relating to others under this influence. People may be cool with their affections and emotionally distant. Avoid new financial undertakings, as they may prove to be “money pits” as time passes. There may be anxiety or troubles with regards to matters concerned with the feelings. Romantic disappointments, unrequited love, separations, and broken engagements are the more negative manifestations. We tend to lack social confidence at this time and adopt a shy, formal, or reserved social manner. This transit is best used for reflection.
Venus sextile Chiron. We have the chance to heal our personal relationships now, as we are more open to intimacy and commitment, as well as learning from one another. We more easily see the beauty in human weaknesses. It’s a strong time for building trust in relationships.
Sun quincunx Pluto. Adjustments are necessary now in order for our lives to move forward. The need to make changes in our life that will further our psychological development arise now.
Mars trine Neptune. We act on our intuition now, sexual fantasies are strong, we strive towards all that is boundless, and our creative impulses are potent. We are less tense and driven, and more relaxed. “What will be, will be” is the attitude now. Inspiration can be found now. This transit favors dancing, swimming, photography, arts, and entertainment.
Mars opposition Saturn. Circumstances or people tend to stand in our way or thwart our will just now, which can cause some feelings of resentment or frustration. It can be difficult to assert ourselves directly or in an otherwise healthy manner. Our desire to take action and to constructively express our aggressive urges feels thwarted or blocked. It can feel like more effort than usual is required to complete tasks.
Mars quincunx Jupiter. We tend to take on too much—either expend too much energy or overestimate our capabilitiesduring this transit. Poor timing is possible now, as we may be out of synch with our instincts and natural rhythm.
Venus sesquiquadrate Pluto. This influence can point to some underlying tensions in social interactions (looking for an ulterior motive and suspiciousness) and relationships (possible jealousies). Passions run hot, but there’s a hidden agenda. Feelings of jealousy and possessiveness can be brewing just under the surface of things, and they are in direct proportion to our fear of losing something or someone dear to us. Sometimes, this transit correlates with heartbreak, feelings of unreciprocated love, or romantic disappointment. Often, financial matters come to the fore.

JUNE 9
With the Sun’s square to Neptune today, we can feel temporarily drained of energy as we are challenged to consider our spiritual needs, which might at this point seem to contradict our plans and goals. Or, we may need to confront how reality isn’t measuring up to our ideals. Until we find ways to incorporate imagination and spirit into our lives appropriately, there can be problems feeling motivated. This influence takes away our sense of certainty, and we can either go with that flow or resist it and feel a little lost and without direction. It can be a time for increased spiritual awareness, imagination, and inspiration, although we might first struggle with this. There may be detours or distractions to deal with now. We are reminded to tend to any overlooked spiritual needs before pushing forward. A Venus-Mars semi-square also active today can be tense and competitive or stimulating and invigorating, depending on how we approach it. Because of the Sun-Neptune square and a First Quarter Moon on its way, this aspect can confuse things further, and we should watch for impatience with others. The Moon spends the day in the sign of Virgo, encouraging our service-oriented, charitable nature.
JUNE 10
The First Quarter Moon occurs early today when the Sun in Gemini forms a square with the Virgo Moon. There is a crisis theme surrounding any quarter Moon phase, as we feel compelled to take action. Shortly after, we are made aware of how our actions affect those close to us, perhaps through trial and error. Whatever project or initiative that we started around the New Moon is now off the ground, and it may face its first obstacles. Also today, the Sun opposes Jupiter, forms a quincunx to Saturn, and a semi-square to Uranus (exact early tomorrow). Recent excesses can come to light, demanding a change or shuffling of priorities. Conflicting urges regarding what we think we should do and what we want to do can be an issue now. There are two areas of life where we have a particular need to shine, grow, and improve, represented by the Sun in Gemini and Jupiter in Sagittarius, but these may seem to be in direct conflict with one another, at least for now. Culminations or unexpected changes in a project or ambition might occur, and this can be a time for reaping the rewards. The urge to grow and expand is strong. If we’ve been overreaching, however, it may be time to adjust our expectations. We are especially sensitive to situations that feel too confining or limiting, but the desire to diversify and enjoy variety can clash with our material goals now.
The Moon is void from 8:02 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Pluto), until the Moon enters Libra at 8:30 PM EDT.
JUNE 11
The Sun’s semisquare to Uranus this morning can stir up some restlessness that may seem too generalized to put into productive use, although the Mars-Uranus quintile later today can help us find channels for expressing our need for change and progress in creative and unique ways. We could feel a little tense and impatient with routine, and unexpected changes in plans or events can test our patience. They can also lead to new approaches and exciting detours, so it’s best to keep an open mind. The Moon spends the day in the sign of gracious, respectful Libra. The Moon’s square to Mercury later today can point to some misunderstandings despite our desire to keep the peace.
JUNE 12
The Moon’s transit of Libra today is a relationship-focused, friendly, sociable, and considerate position. This morning, a minor challenging aspect between Saturn and Libra’s planetary ruler, Venus, suggests some coolness in our interactions, however. It’s withholding energy, primarily due to fear of rejection or of not getting what we want. Even so, it’s a good time to pare down and economize. The Moon also harmonizes with the Gemini Sun, encouraging cooperation. We’re prepared to challenge ourselves or step out of our comfort zones if it means we’re growing, improving, and moving forward as Mars aligns with the Moon’s North Node later today. We can also be quite moved to pursue our goals or to make a connection with someone.
The Moon is void from 11:15 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Pluto), until the Moon enters Scorpio the next day, Thursday, June 13th, at 12:03 AM EDT.
JUNE 13
The Moon leaves Libra and enters Scorpio only three minutes into the day (EDT). The Scorpio Moon tends to evoke strong feelings and reactions. We pay more attention to our intuition. Venus forms a sextile to Chiron today, and we’re open to learning from one another. There is a subtle healing power in our words and interactions. This transit softens our disposition and might offer us a chance to heal our relationships. We more readily see the beauty in human weaknesses and imperfections. It’s a strong time for building trust in relationships and repairing problem areas. We’re better judges of value, and this benefits both relationship and financial decisions. We’re also heading toward a Mars-Neptune aspect, exact early tomorrow, and we can feel compelled to act on our intuition or a fantasy, take action towards fulfilling a dream, or bring more imagination to what we’re doing. We are not inclined to follow rigid rules, directions, and schedules, but tend to follow our intuition or inner guidance and gut feelings. Even so, not all decisions or choices come easily today with a Sun-Pluto quincunx also active, which can point to the need for an adjustment before we can feel that we’re moving forward. There may be a shift in power, or we could be dealing with a setback that has us feeling temporarily out of sorts or powerless, prompting us to make changes. This influence can point to indecisiveness about how to approach a matter, or the need to let something go to further our psychological growth.
The void Moon ends when the Moon enters Scorpio today at 12:03 AM EDT.
JUNE 14
Mars forms a trine to Neptune early today, but later opposes Saturn and forms a quincunx to Jupiter. While we’re looking for the meaning in our experiences and ready to believe that we can make them happen, we’re likely to face obstacles or realities that seem to test our dreams, projects, or goals. Circumstances or people tend to stand in our way or discourage us from seeking our desires, which can cause some feelings of resentment or frustration. It can be difficult to assert ourselves directly, or our assertions meet with a brick wall. With wavering or waning motivation, we might find it particularly hard to get through our routines as quickly as we might on another day. We could also find it challenging to integrate one strong desire with another. Circumstances are such that we need to assess where we’ve been putting too much or too little of our energy. We are asked to slow down and be patient and perhaps to reshuffle our priorities. At this time, we may recognize the need to adopt a humbler, more mature, or more conservative approach, and going forward, we might work on rebuilding enthusiasm, ideally with a stronger sense of reality. The Moon spends the day in the sign of Scorpio.
The Moon is void from 3:46 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Pluto), until the Moon enters Sagittarius tomorrow, Saturday, June 15th, at 5:03 AM EDT.
JUNE 15
Mercury in Cancer is beginning to form similar aspects as those formed by Mars in the last few days. Today, Mercury forms a quintile to Uranus and aligns with the North Node. It’s heading toward a trine to Neptune, a quincunx to Jupiter, and an opposition to Saturn, all three of which are exact tomorrow morning. We’re looking for inspiration and meaning, but we’re also asked to tone things down and take care of details that we’ve overlooked in the process. We may face criticism or negative feedback which can frustrate us, but whether or not it’s meant to be constructive, chances are we can use at least some of it to improve our projects or methods. Today’s Mercury-Uranus aspect inspires creative ways to approach technical matters. With the Mercury-Node alignment, learning, teaching, communicating, and connecting figure strongly. Valuable contacts can be made with people who share our intellectual interests or who introduce us to new ideas that help us to grow, improve, and expand. An approaching Jupiter-Neptune square further complicates the day’s energies–our outlook can be up and down. The Moon continues its transit of Scorpio until 5:03 AM EDT, after which the Moon is in Sagittarius.
The void Moon ends when the Moon enters Sagittarius today at 5:03 AM EDT.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Virgo
We instinctually gravitate towards practical activities under the influence of a Virgo Moon. In an urge to set things right, we might easily find ourselves re-organizing and rethinking plans. Emotional satisfaction comes from solving problems, making order out of confusion, and helping others. Health matters might come into focus. We notice the smaller parts that make up the whole, and instead of letting nagging details bother us, we might work on ironing them out so that we can feel more confident moving ahead.
The Moon in Virgo generally favors the following activities: Mental pursuits, work activities, services, and routines. Activities that would benefit from tending to details.
When the Moon is in Libra
Creating order is the focus, not necessarily through tidying or organizing as was the case while the Moon was in Virgo, but rather through pleasing interactions with others and aesthetics in our environment. We tend to solve problems through diplomacy, and we are more able to put aside our own emotions in order to achieve the peace we crave. The tendency now is to avoid direct confrontations. Decisions do not come easily. Seeing both sides to any given situation is the main reason for hesitation. Fear of losing others' approval is another.
The Moon in Libra generally favors the following activities: Relationship and partnership issues, activities involving teamwork and cooperation, activities that involve self-examination, activities related to beauty.
When the Moon is in Scorpio
Intensity is what the Moon in Scorpio is all about. Whether it's passion, elation, sorrow, or desire, emotions are felt on a deeply personal level. We are motivated by the desire to get to the bottom of things, and we instinctively read between the lines. Superficiality won't work for us now. The Moon in Scorpio urges us to uncover our own power, and it's an excellent time to rid ourselves of old fears and limiting habits. It can be an intimate and passionate time. Avoid manipulative tactics, brooding, and suspiciousness.
The Moon in Scorpio generally favors the following activities: Taxes, accounting, intimacy issues, psychological examinations, research, self-examination, getting rid of old things.
When the Moon is in Sagittarius
The Moon is at her most optimistic and upbeat in Sagittarius. We are motivated by a need to seek the truth, and we are ready to pursue a new vision. We are not interested in details just now. Instead, we focus on the big picture. New experiences and adventures satisfy a deep emotional need. Spontaneity is the key. We may also be inclined toward overdoing and overstating. We don't want to plan ahead, and prefer to "wing it".
The Moon in Sagittarius generally favors the following activities: Adventurous activities that involve "winging it", travel, higher education, starting publishing projects, advertising, sports, physical activity.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Gemini The cycle which begins for you now will be marked by a more intense focus on mental and communicative activity than you may ever have experienced before. It’s a time of more involvement with other people, a time for gathering information, and a time when you’re apt to be more on the go than ever. There is likely to be an emphasis on reading, writing, studying, and all forms of exchanging information with others in the years ahead – and it will all serve as a path for self-discovery and personal development.
Mercury in Cancer Gut-level is the way you think, speak, and perceive in the cycle you have just begun. You aren’t interested in the superficial; instead, you want to get right to the root of things. You don’t care about the universal, only about how things impact you and yours. Intellect and emotion mix to the point of inseparability.
Venus in Gemini Saying (or writing) it with style comes naturally now. A yen for variety is a hallmark of this phase, and this especially applies to romantic experience and artistic tastes. (The latter tends to focus on literature in general and poetry in particular.) A sociable, congenial, slightly frivolous orientation sets in.
Mars in Cancer Defensive, aren’t we? With this new cycle getting underway, protecting and preserving you and yours takes on a higher than usual priority. A sensitivity to the needs and wants of others and an appreciation for their frailties (as well as your own) makes you more cautious and conservative … you pick your battles with care.
Jupiter in Sagittarius Faith, optimism, and a yearning to explore all kinds of new horizons: these are some of the focal points in your life at this time. Travel, education, and other ways to stretch your horizons open new doors of opportunity. Religious, philosophical, and cultural matters are likely to have special appeal for you now; transmitting ideas on a broader scale brings gain.
Saturn in Capricorn Responsibility, hard work, ambition, and achievement: these are the foundations you need to build on now, as a new cycle dawns in your life. And yet, there is a tendency to be a little too hard, perhaps a bit cold, in your approach to these things. Let ambition take you to the top, but don’t let it lull you into thinking that the end justifies the means.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone and everyone in their place…
