The FULL MOON occurs on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at 12:07 AM EDT.
A Full Moon occurs with the Cancer Sun in opposition to the Moon in Capricorn. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time—a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.
The Cancer-Capricorn polarity concerns the balance between the private life, domesticity, the need for a home base, and nurturance (represented by Cancer) versus the public life, career, reputation, and accountability (represented by Capricorn). Attachments and love are ruled by Cancer, while achievements and rewards/punishments are ruled by Capricorn. In some ways, this polarity deals with the balance between unconditional love and conditional love. Cancer encourages us to value our home base and our roots, while Capricorn persuades us to consider our sense of duty and responsibility along public or professional lines. While Cancer may be content to be dependent, Capricorn urges us to be grown-up and responsible. Cancer represents the origin, and Capricorn represents the goal. Neglecting either end of the axis will surely backfire on us. Ideally, a balance should be found between the two energies, and this is what the Full Moon invites us to do. This Full Moon is about balancing our commitment to our career and families. Something has been building inside of us, and now is the time when the energy of the cosmos fairly demands that we let it out. Over the next two weeks, we will discover what this means for us. For now, we can’t sit on our feelings. We need to express them.
The Full Moon illuminates this conflict between roots and direction. With the Moon full and bright in the sky, symbolic “illumination” occurs in our own lives. However, these new feelings and revelations are emotional ones, as there is a sense of emotions bursting forth into our consciousness. It’s time to express ourselves and to let things out of our systems. Of course, we might want to exercise some care while doing so, knowing that what is coming out of us is fresh, unrefined, and not particularly rational as yet.
The Sun is approaching a conjunction to Mars, the Moon is applying to a conjunction with Pluto, Jupiter forms a square with the Sun and Moon, and Neptune forms a close trine/sextile to this lunation, making this an important although perhaps difficult time of letting something go.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 17 degrees and 9 minutes of Capricorn in opposition to the Sun at 17 degrees and 9 minutes of Cancer, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 13 to 21 degrees of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) most significantly.

(Times are Eastern)
The Sun is in Cancer; Mercury is in Cancer until the 5th when it enters Leo; Venus is in Taurus until the 4th when it enters Gemini; Mars is in Cancer.
The Sun is in Cancer from June 21-July 22. We are self-protective and insular under this influence. Our attention turns to our nest–our families, homes, and anything that makes us feel “at home”, safe, and secure. Nurturing and taking care of our loved ones and our pet projects come into focus. Emotions run deep. We are more susceptible to the ups and downs of the Moon while the Sun is in Cancer.
Mercury is in Cancer from June 21-July 5. When Mercury is in Cancer, we move from the desire for quantity to the need for quality in terms of the information we are attracted to. We think, speak, and take in information on a deeper, more instinctive level now. We have less interest in what is universal, and more interest in what affects us personally and what affects the people around us. Our thoughts are colored by our emotions, so it is more challenging to be objective.
Mercury is in Leo from July 5-25. When Mercury is in Leo, our thinking is more confident and grand. The focus is now on the goal–and the grander a goal the better! The details may not be quite as important now. We are more expressive, even theatrical and given to speech-giving and story-telling under this influence. We are also more convincing and persuasive, as we exude confidence when we speak or write. We may not listen as well as we normally do under Mercury in Leo.
Venus is in Taurus from June 6- July 4. In Taurus, Venus is very sensual (naturally), content, and possessive. We seek security and value that which lasts. Our appetite for pleasure is strong. Taurus values the here and the now as well as the world of the five senses. Tangible and physical expressions of love and romance are most important now. Holding on to someone we love is our tendency under Venus in Taurus. The shadow side of this is excessive possessiveness and treating our partners as objects that we own or want to own. On the financial side, Venus in Taurus looks for high-quality, solid, practical, and long-lasting items. Holding on to our possessions is more likely now.
Venus is in Gemini from July 4-31. In Gemini, we have a finger in every pie. Curiosity motivates us on romantic and social levels. “Variety is the spice of life” is the attitude now. We are sociable, communicative, and interested. We can be animated and fun but may also keep our distance on an emotional level. Attractions now may begin with words, as we tend to bond more readily on a mental level with Venus in Gemini. The shadow side of Gemini is fickleness.
Mars is in Cancer from June 4-July 20. We pursue our interests ardently, but we avoid a direct approach to going after we want. As well, our goals and plans are subject to mood swings and vacillations. We are defensive rather than overtly aggressive. Much of what we do depends on our mood of the moment.
Saturn transits Sagittarius from December 23, 2014, to June 14, 2015, and then from September 17, 2015, to December 20, 2017. Read about Saturn’s transit through Sagittarius here.
Jupiter entered Libra on September 9th, 2016, and will transit Libra until October 10, 2017. Read about Jupiter in Libra here.
Uranus entered Aries on March 11th, 2011 and will transit Aries until May 15, 2018, and then from November 6, 2018, to March 6, 2019. The urge to start fresh, to break free from restrictive attitudes or circumstances, to totally redesign an area of our lives (or even our personalities), and to gain freedom through independence is strong with Uranus in Aries.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Taurus from June 6-July 4. In Taurus, Venus is usually quite content but can be possessive.
Venus is in Gemini from July 4-31. In Gemini, Venus is communicative, sociable but emotionally aloof, insatiably curious, and a little bit flighty. Inconsistency with our affections is a strong possibility, but the desire for a meeting of minds is strong and the urge to socialize dominates. Some detachment from our emotions is likely, which may be a breath of fresh air for some. The lines of communication open, although we may only scratch the surface of things. Under this influence, love is playful and lighthearted. Fickleness is the shadow side of Venus in Gemini.
This week: On Sunday and Monday, love and compassion or romantic feelings are easier to express than usual with Venus dignified in Taurus forming a sextile with Chiron. We are more willing than usual to act upon romantic feelings. On Monday and Tuesday, we may be restless or overshooting, however. Watch for looking outside of yourself for the source of discomfort and instead try to get in touch with your feelings. Venus in dynamic aspect to Pluto on Friday suggests some underlying tensions, resentment, or insecurities affecting our interactions.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Taurus June 6-July 4. A love of music, an appreciation for sensual pleasures and others of the finer things in life – such are the signs of the cycle which has begun for you. This is aesthetic and artistic to be sure, but it is also practical and materialistic: you develop a keen appreciation for the value of things, including the money it takes to buy them.
Venus sextile Chiron July 2-3. Love has the power to heal old wounds. We are open to romantic feelings and more willing to act upon them.
Venus sesquiquadrate Jupiter July 3-4. We experience a strong desire for more pleasure in our lives, which can be excessive. Take care not to overstate your feelings or to set up unrealistic expectations in your partnerships.
Venus sesquiquadrate Pluto July 7. Tendencies to look for something wrong in a relationship. Jealousy raises its ugly head.
Venus parallel Mercury July 10-11. A congenial time when we appreciate diplomacy and socialize more readily.
Venus semi-square Mars July 14-15. Tensions in relationships. Attempting to satisfy romantic needs and assertive/sexual needs simultaneously can be challenging.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Sunday, July 2nd, from 9:18 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to Uranus), until the Moon enters Scorpio at 1:00 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Tuesday, July 4th, from 9:35 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Mercury), until the Moon enters Sagittarius the next day, Wednesday, July 5th, at 1:09 AM EDT.
VOC Moon on Friday, July 7th, from 10:12 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Uranus), until the Moon enters Capricorn at 1:45 PM EDT.

Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
The Moon is waxing this week — a period that is generally considered favorable for new beginnings, with exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details).
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs from Sunday, July 2nd, from approximately 1:05 PM EDT, until Tuesday, July 4th, at approximately 9:30 PM EDT, while the Moon is in Scorpio. Another window occurs on Friday, July 7th, from approximately 12:30 AM to 10:10 AM EDT, while the Moon is in Sagittarius.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Mercury quincunx Saturn. Communication challenges today make it hard to get a point across. Delays, “red tape”, and vague feelings of forgetting important details.
Mars opposition Pluto. Power struggles, “all or nothing” energy, the desire to force one’s agenda meets with opposition and resistance. Do what you can to avoid a contest of wills. The desire to get the upper hand is strong, but it’s unlikely to happen under this influence. It would be wise to observe whatever powerful feelings that confrontations or conflicts arouse under this influence, as this transit has a way of pulling out suppressed matter, or emotional “slush”. Passions run high, and so does sexual energy.
Venus sextile Chiron. We have the chance to heal our personal relationships now, as we are more open to intimacy and commitment, as well as learning from one another. We more easily see beauty in human weaknesses. It’s a strong time for building trust in relationships.
Venus sesquiquadrate Jupiter. We might take great strides to get noticed. Avoid impulsive buying. Problems in our personal life likely won’t get resolved under this influence. Avoid hasty (or haughty!) decisions. We might overstate our feelings or promise more than we can deliver, and the tendency to overdo is strong.
Mercury square Uranus. Our senses are stimulated, and we could have sudden flashes of insight or fresh new ideas. However, our ideas are not always received well by others and we can be scatter-brained. It’s a challenge to deal with routine matters or monotonous tasks under this influence. Tasks may be left undone or interrupted. This is not a good time to be understood, so we may want to hold off presenting our ideas for the time being. New information can surface now that upsets the status quo, but can also act to stimulate our minds into new ways of thinking.
Jupiter quincunx Neptune. There can be difficulties with limits and boundaries now. We may feel disorganized and it can be difficult to stick to a routine, or to find satisfaction in our current pursuits. There can be a strong desire or need to help others now, but we may not know how to do so and feel guilty for escapist tendencies or for not being as effective as we’d like. There is a tendency to take the easy way out, but consequences are likely to be faced by doing so. We may be misled by wishful thinking now or invest in impractical ideas and plans.
Mercury trine Chiron. This is an excellent period for opening up communications with others, as we are more sensitive than usual and more willing to listen. Getting our point across is easier, as it’s not only about which words we choose to communicate, we intuitively express the meaning and intention behind the words. We can effectively use words to heal and comfort just now. We are also more open to new ways of looking at problems or at life in general.
Mercury sesquiquadrate Neptune. We are not thinking clearly, preferring to daydream. Technical facts can be glossed over at this time. It’s not a good time to make a presentation, to ask for what you want, or to formalize agreements.
Sun trine Neptune. We’re at the right place at the right time, probably because our hunches are more likely to be correct and we are “tuned in”. We are inspired, and charitable acts now will serve to lift our spirits like no drug can. A good time for self-improvement programs or efforts. Instinctual judgment is enhanced under this influence. We are able to see matters, and people, from a different perspective–one that allows for, and even finds beauty in, differences.
Sun square Jupiter. We may feel vague restlessness and discontent with life as it is. We want more, but perhaps too much. Overestimation and exaggeration. Elevated moods, but unstable ones, as they may not be based on reality. Channeled well, this energy can represent creative power.
Mercury sextile Venus. It’s easy to make social connections under this influence. This transit favors diplomacy, charm, social graces, negotiations, presentation of ideas, romantic overtures, teaching, business deals, publishing, commerce, public relations, and joint ventures or partnerships. It is often a time when promises and clarifications are made in love relationships.
Venus sesquiquadrate Pluto. This influence can point to some underlying tensions in social interactions (looking for an ulterior motive and suspiciousness) and relationships (possible jealousies). Passions run hot, but there’s a hidden agenda. Often, financial matters come to the fore. Manipulation can color relationships now. Avoid power plays with friends and lovers.

JULY 2
This morning, Mercury forms a quincunx with Saturn and Mars opposes Pluto. There can be some uncertainty and the need to double-check our facts. Communication challenges can make it hard to get the point across, as much as we’d like to. Delays, “red tape,” and vague feelings of forgetting important details can be issues we’re dealing with now. Another difficult energy complicates matters: Mars opposes Pluto. We can too easily become embroiled in power struggles. Pushiness can be met with stubborn resistance. There may be contests of wills now. It would be wise to observe whatever powerful feelings that confrontations or conflicts arouse under this influence, as this transit has a way of pulling out suppressed matter, or emotional “slush.” All in all, there can be a lot of frustrated energy that may lead to greater understanding.
The Moon is void from 9:18 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to Uranus), until the Moon enters Scorpio at 1:00 PM EDT.
JULY 3
The Moon is in passionate, perceptive Scorpio all day. All that is hidden, taboo, secret, or suppressed interests us under this influence. A sextile between Venus and Chiron occurs this evening, and we can be eager to learn from one another. This transit softens our disposition and might offer us a chance to heal our personal relationships. We more easily see beauty in human weaknesses and imperfections. It’s a strong time for building trust in relationships and repairing problem areas. We’re better judges of value, and this benefits both relationship and financial decisions.
JULY 4
The Moon spends the day in passionate Scorpio. Venus enters Gemini today, where it will transit until July 31st. Curiosity motivates us on romantic and social levels during this cycle. “Variety is the spice of life” is the attitude now. We are sociable, communicative, and interested although we may also keep our distance on an emotional level. Attractions often begin with words at this time, as we tend to bond most readily on a mental level. Mercury forms a square with Uranus this evening and will move into a trine to Chiron, exact tomorrow. Our senses are hyper-stimulated. There can be sudden flashes of insight or fresh new ideas, but they may not come together well just yet. We may be impatient with routine matters or monotonous tasks. New information can surface now that upsets the status quo, but can also act to stimulate our minds into new ways of thinking. Some of your discoveries can lead to good conversations or a desire to connect, understand, and learn. We’re moving towards a Jupiter-Neptune quincunx, exact early tomorrow, that can point to difficulty finding the right idea or project to latch onto, as much as we’d like to do so.
A void of course Moon occurs from 9:35 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Mercury), until the Moon enters Sagittarius the next day, Wednesday, July 5th, at 1:09 AM EDT.
JULY 5
Early today, Jupiter and Neptune form their final quincunx in a set of three, having first formed in October and perfecting again in May. We may be struggling to align our beliefs or faith with our goals now, and the Sun plays into this energy with its square to Jupiter and trine to Neptune today. On the one hand, we feel in tune with our spirituality, compassion, and imagination. On the other, we have difficulty putting a reasonable plan into action. It can be difficult to derive satisfaction from our pursuits as we may feel that if we go one route, we miss out on something else. The morning’s Chiron-Mercury trine opens our minds to learning from one another. We might also focus on healing methods and holistic thinking. Distractions are likely, and it can be difficult to get to a clear decision or position. We may struggle with our perceptions, which can be clouded by wishful thinking, and we tend to favor daydreams or creative thinking over dealing with facts and figures. Mercury enters Leo today where it will transit until the 25th. The focus is now on the goal–and the grander a goal, the better! We are more expressive, even theatrical and given to speech-giving and story-telling under this influence.
The Moon continues its void period until 1:09 AM EDT when it enters Sagittarius.
JULY 6
The Moon is in Sagittarius all day. Emotionally bored with the mundane, anything that breaks the routine is appealing now, and a change of scenery might help. We take a philosophical attitude to problems or challenges in our lives. This position of the Moon encourages a spontaneous and spirited approach to the world. The Moon aligns with Saturn tonight, however, reminding us of our responsibilities and a need to get serious, but an approaching Mercury-Venus sextile (exact tomorrow morning) can soften rough edges as we gear up for a friendlier, lighter, and more sociable period.
JULY 7
Mercury and Venus form a sextile this morning, and this stimulates a desire to cooperate, compliment, encourage, and express our affections. We’re inclined to analyze our relationships and articulate or make sense of our feelings. Promises and clarifications might be made. Making social connections under this influence is easy. We are more polite, diplomatic, and charming now. This is a good influence for the presentation of ideas, romantic overtures, teaching, business deals, publishing, commerce, public relations, and joint ventures or partnerships. The Moon continues to transit Sagittarius until 1:45 PM EDT, after which it moves through Capricorn, and we’re more interested in results than experience. A Venus-Pluto sesquiquadrate this afternoon may aggravate underlying tensions in social interactions and relationships. Manipulation can color relationships and disagreements about ownership can emerge now.
A void of course Moon occurs from 10:12 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Uranus), until the Moon enters Capricorn at 1:45 PM EDT.
JULY 8
The Moon is in Capricorn all day, and we’re more aware of the need for structure and planning, particularly with Mars and Saturn moving towards a quincunx (exact tomorrow). We are also instinctively conscious of the limitations of time, and we might worry about meeting deadlines or filling our responsibilities. A desire for success motivates us, and achievement and manifestation are more important to us than usual. We have an instinctive need for order and direction, which may not always come straightforwardly today since the Moon’s only major aspects are a square to Jupiter and sextile to Neptune, but we may very well get there anyway! The approaching Mars-Saturn quincunx points to the need to slow down — the harder we push, the more resistance we encounter. Adjustments and edits are appropriate now.
The Moon continues its void period until 1:45 PM EDT when it enters Capricorn.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Libra
Creating order is the focus, not necessarily through tidying or organizing as was the case while the Moon was in Virgo, but rather through pleasing interactions with others and aesthetics in our environment. We tend to solve problems through diplomacy, and we are more able to put aside our own emotions in order to achieve the peace we crave. The tendency now is to avoid direct confrontations. Decisions do not come easily. Seeing both sides to any given situation is the main reason for hesitation. Fear of losing others' approval is another.
The Moon in Libra generally favors the following activities: Relationship and partnership issues, activities involving teamwork and cooperation, activities that involve self-examination, activities related to beauty.
When the Moon is in Scorpio
Intensity is what the Moon in Scorpio is all about. Whether it's passion, elation, sorrow, or desire, emotions are felt on a deeply personal level. We are motivated by the desire to get to the bottom of things, and we instinctively read between the lines. Superficiality won't work for us now. The Moon in Scorpio urges us to uncover our own power, and it's an excellent time to rid ourselves of old fears and limiting habits. It can be an intimate and passionate time. Avoid manipulative tactics, brooding, and suspiciousness.
The Moon in Scorpio generally favors the following activities: Taxes, accounting, intimacy issues, psychological examinations, research, self-examination, getting rid of old things.
When the Moon is in Sagittarius
The Moon is at her most optimistic and upbeat in Sagittarius. We are motivated by a need to seek the truth, and we are ready to pursue a new vision. We are not interested in details just now. Instead, we focus on the big picture. New experiences and adventures satisfy a deep emotional need. Spontaneity is the key. We may also be inclined toward overdoing and overstating. We don't want to plan ahead, and prefer to "wing it".
The Moon in Sagittarius generally favors the following activities: Adventurous activities that involve "winging it", travel, higher education, starting publishing projects, advertising, sports, physical activity.
When the Moon is in Capricorn
We become aware of the need for structure and planning ahead. We also instinctively are aware of the limitations of time. We are motivated by a desire for success. Achievement and manifestation are most important to us now. We are resourceful and don't want to waste time, energy, or resources. This can be a very sober influence--even a depressing one. However, it can also be a productive time when we look reality in the eye.
The Moon in Capricorn generally favors the following activities: Long-term activities that yield slow but steady results, practical undertakings, career issues, making a business plan, practical investments.
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Cancer Being more in touch with your emotional roots is a keynote of the cycle that now takes hold in your life. This has to do with feelings, but it’s more than that: it’s about making the things you feel and care about a reality. At some levels, this means a greater focus on family life – parents, children, relatives, the whole domestic scene. On a somewhat broader scale, you’re likely to find that houses and other real property take on greater significance for you. Nurturing is where it’s at in your life now: making things grow and taking care of them, planting seeds that will develop and survive far into the future – that’s what it’s all about.
Mercury in Cancer Gut-level is the way you think, speak, and perceive in the cycle you have just begun. You aren’t interested in the superficial; instead, you want to get right to the root of things. You don’t care about the universal, only about how things impact you and yours. Intellect and emotion mix to the point of inseparability.
Mercury in Leo The hallmark of the cycle you have just begun is thinking, learning and communicating with style. Intellectual creativity is highlighted, and your social connections have a certain flair of drama to them. Winning the admiration of others for the things you say or write (and the way you do it) takes on more importance in your life.
Venus in Taurus A love of music, an appreciation for sensual pleasures and others of the finer things in life – such are the signs of the cycle which has begun for you. This is aesthetic and artistic to be sure, but it is also practical and materialistic: you develop a keen appreciation for the value of things, including the money it takes to buy them.
Venus in Gemini Saying (or writing) it with style comes natural now. A yen for variety is a hallmark of this phase, and this especially applies to romantic experience and artistic tastes. (The latter tends to focus on literature in general and poetry in particular.) A sociable, congenial, slightly frivolous orientation sets in.
Mars in Cancer Defensive, aren’t we? With this new cycle getting underway, protecting and preserving you and yours takes on a higher than usual priority. A sensitivity to the needs and wants of others and an appreciation for their frailties (as well as your own) makes you more cautious and conservative … you pick your battles with care.
Jupiter in Libra The ties that bind, the harmonious integration of opposites, the perfect balance: these are the keys to your greatest opportunities now. Marriage and other close personal relationships tend to offer bright prospects, and you have a deep yearning to experience the fulfillment they can bring.
Saturn in Sagittarius The new phase now beginning in your life brings a need to break out of narrow concepts and legalistic philosophical or religious ideas. Remember: “A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds.” Opportunities to broaden your mental horizons may not come with ease, but they are essential if you are to avoid a kind of spiritual stagnation.
Uranus in Aries A clean break with the past in some respects is signaled by the cycle you have just begun. What YOU need, YOUR freedom and independence, shattering old molds: these are the things that energize you and take priority in your life. Uniqueness and originality set you apart.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone and everyone in their place…
