Daily Trends
The FULL MOON occurs on Thursday, August 15, 2019, at 8:30 AM EDT.
On Thursday morning, a Full Moon occurs when the Leo Sun opposes the Moon in Aquarius. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time–a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.
The Leo Sun is proud and intensely individual–not content with simply being just one of the team. The Aquarius Moon, while individualistic as well, values independence and the “team”. The Full Moon illuminates this conflict.
When a Full Moon occurs, we can suddenly burst forth with proclamations and outpours that seem fresh and new, simply because they are not yet rationalized. In fact, a Full Moon illuminates feelings, attitudes, and circumstances that are already in existence.
This Full Moon is closely aligned with Venus, suggesting our affections are very much involved with our emotional discoveries, but it can be very hard to be objective or even to see that they are.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 22 degrees and 24 minutes of Aquarius opposite the Sun at 22 degrees and 24 minutes of Leo, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 18 to 26 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) most significantly.

(Times are Eastern)
This week: The Sun is in Leo; Mercury is in Cancer until the 11th when it re-enters Leo; Venus is in Leo; Mars is in Leo.
The Sun is in Leo from July 22-August 23. In Leo, the Sun is proud, outgoing, and playful. The Leo Sun is intensely individual—not content with simply being just one of the team. It’s time to shine, add a touch of color and drama to our lives, and perform. Like the flowers and fruit of the season—blossoming and ripened—this is a time when we want to enjoy ourselves and express ourselves. We are more generous and grand in our gestures and attitudes. On the shadow side, we can also be self-centered and vain.
Mercury is in Leo from June 26-July 19 and then August 11-29. When Mercury is in Leo, our thinking is more confident and grand. The focus is now on the goal–and the grander a goal the better! The details may not be quite as important now. We are more expressive, even theatrical and given to speech-giving and story-telling under this influence. We are also more convincing and persuasive, as we exude confidence when we speak or write. We may not listen as well as we normally do under Mercury in Leo.
Mercury is in Cancer from July 19-August 11. When Mercury is in Cancer, we move from the desire for quantity to the need for quality in terms of the information we are attracted to. We think, speak, and take in information on a deeper, more instinctive level now. We have less interest in what is universal, and more interest in what affects us personally and what affects the people around us. Our thoughts are colored by our emotions, so it is more challenging to be objective.
Venus is in Leo from July 27-August 21. We take pride in love, and we are generous with our money as well. This is a warmhearted, teasing, expressive, proud, and extravagant placement for Venus. Love is a bit of a game–a game that is perpetual, as Venus in Leo is forever stuck in the romance stage of a relationship. We feed on attention, acknowledgment, validation, and adoration. We have a strong ego investment in our love lives during this period. The negative expression of this placement is overstating our feelings simply for the effect, as well as extravagance.
Mars is in Leo from July 1-August 18. In Leo, Mars is proud, self-confident, and grand. We are spirited and have grand goals. We go after what we want in a direct, self-assured manner, desiring dramatic results. We prefer not to worry about details, and take the least complicated route to our goals. The sex drive is strong, and passion for life is high.
Jupiter entered Sagittarius on November 8th, 2018, and transits the sign until December 2nd, 2019. Read more about the Jupiter in Sagittarius transit.
Saturn transits Capricorn from December 19/20, 2017, to March 21, 2020; and then finishes up its transit from July 1 to December 17, 2020. Read about Saturn’s transit through Capricorn here.
Uranus is in Taurus. Uranus first transited Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and is now consistently in the sign (since March 6th, 2019) until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle. There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Leo from July 28 to August 21, 2019.
Venus in Leo loves to be adored, pampered, and admired. Pride and passion are hallmarks of this cycle. We have a strong ego investment in our love lives during this period. The negative expression of this placement is overstating our feelings simply for the effect, as well as extravagance.
This week: It’s best to treat Sunday as a shift day rather than one to make big decisions, and with Venus quincunx Neptune, we are likely to doubt someone in our lives, or happiness, in general! More awkwardness and off timing is likely on Monday through Wednesday, when we can be on a different page with a loved one.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Leo July 27-August 21. Romance becomes an end in itself as a new cycle begins for you. It marks a time when love, creativity, and self-expression satisfy a deep yearning to be appreciated and admired – needed, even. A flashy, flirty, stylish splash of color and warmth.
Venus quincunx Saturn August 8-9. A feeling that we may not be able to express our affections, or that our affections will not be received well, can undermine us in our relationships. Fear of rejection, emotional distancing, and over-sensitivity.
Venus quincunx Neptune August 10-11. Idealism and disappointments in love. Avoid becoming blinded by what you want to see, rather than what really is. Doubts about love.
Venus sesquiquadrate Chiron August 12-13. Love cannot be forced. This is not a commitment-friendly transit, as we may feel alienated for no apparent reason and unwilling to give of ourselves.
Venus quincunx Pluto August 13-14. This is a time of adjustments and re-assessments in our close personal relationships and/or with regards to our social lives. Issues of power and control can arise. Unreasonable or irrational fears of loss, or jealousy, could also emerge.
Venus parallel Uranus August 19-20. We embrace all that is new, unusual, and out-of-the-ordinary with regards to romantic involvements. We lose our fear of taking risks at this time. We are ready to experiment, but not necessarily ready to commit. Peculiar, sudden, or avant-garde attractions. This is an exciting but unstable energy. Friendship in love relationships becomes more important.
Venus sesquiquadrate Saturn August 20. Feelings of isolation, of not getting what we really want, and of not being loved the way we want to be loved can get in the way of pleasant relations with our partners.
Venus conjunct Mars August 23-24. This is a passionate, warm, expressive, lively and sexy energy. We are now able to take the initiative to achieve harmony and sexual fulfillment. This influence brings satisfaction to the feelings. Our creativity and desire to make something beautiful is stimulated now. We are more able to combine warmth with energy. Social relations are impassioned, and perhaps demanding or extreme. In some cases, this impulsive energy generates “love at first sight” scenarios or erotic interludes. Teamwork is more successful now. Some level of competition is present in our interactions, but it’s likely of a pleasurable and gently challenging kind. Impulsive purchases are possible.
Venus quincunx Chiron August 24-25. There may be vague feelings of discontent in relationships; or a choice that needs to be made regarding personal relationships, money, or possessions. Insecurity involving others might make it awkward for us to express our affections naturally or flowingly.
Venus parallel Mars August 25. Favors romantic and sexual relationships. Intense passions.
Venus sesquiquadrate Pluto August 25. Tendencies to look for something wrong in a relationship. Jealousy raises its ugly head.
Venus trine Uranus August 25-26. We lose our fear of taking risks at this time, and we happily embrace all that is new, unusual, and out-of-the-ordinary with regards to romantic involvements. We are ready to experiment, but not necessarily ready to commit.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Saturday, August 10th, from 3:51 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Mars), until the Moon enters Capricorn the next day, Sunday, August 11th, at 12:51 AM EDT.
VOC Moon on Monday, August 12th, from 6:12 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Pluto), until the Moon enters Aquarius the next day, Tuesday, August 13th at 11:36 AM EDT.
VOC Moon on Thursday, August 15th, from 9:03 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to Mars), until the Moon enters Pisces at 11:50 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Saturday, August 17th, from 6:35 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Pluto), until the Moon enters Aries the next day, Sunday, August 18th, at 12:33 PM EDT.
August 2019:
Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
The Moon is waxing until the Full Moon on the 15th, which is generally considered favorable for new beginnings, with exceptions. After the Full Moon on the 15th, the Moon is waning and generally considered unfavorable for new beginnings, again with exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details).
According to principles of timing with the Moon, there is no clear window of opportunity this week. The next window is next week from Tuesday, August 20th, at 7:55 AM EDT, until Wednesday, August 21st, at approximately 12:05 AM EDT, while the Moon is in Aries.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Mercury sesquiquadrate Jupiter. We experience information overload, and we neglect to consider details. People tend to exaggerate today.
Venus quincunx Neptune. Under this influence, we are apt to see what we want to see, rather than what actually is, when it comes to both financial affairs and affairs of the heart. Still, we tend to doubt our perceptions of perfection. The end result is a feeling of insecurity on romantic and social levels. Avoid making large purchases and commitments at this time.
Sun sesquiquadrate Chiron. The desire to learn and grow through experiences and through others is strong, but may be hampered by a lack of confidence or a fear of being different.
Venus sesquiquadrate Chiron. Blocks to intimacy are possible now as we focus on differences rather than similarities in our relationships with others. We might have a hard time learning from one another as a result.
Sun quincunx Pluto. Adjustments are necessary now in order for our lives to move forward. The need to make changes in our life that will further our psychological development arise now.
Venus quincunx Pluto. This is a time of adjustments and re-assessments in our close personal relationships and/or with regards to our social lives. Issues of power and control can arise. Unreasonable or irrational fears of loss, or jealousy, could also emerge.
Mercury sesquiquadrate Neptune. We are not thinking clearly, preferring to daydream. Technical facts can be glossed over at this time. It’s not a good time to make a presentation, to ask for what you want, or to formalize agreements.
Venus conjunct Sun. We are motivated by the desire to strike a balance in our relationships and in our environment. Smooth negotiations with others. Graciousness, diplomacy, charm, and some superficiality. This is a good period for social affairs, pleasure, amusement, and romance, all things considered.
Mercury trine Chiron. This is an excellent period for opening up communications with others, as we are more sensitive than usual and more willing to listen. Getting our point across is easier, as it’s not only about which words we choose to communicate, we intuitively express the meaning and intention behind the words. We can effectively use words to heal and comfort just now. We are also more open to new ways of looking at problems or at life in general.
Mercury square Uranus. Our senses are stimulated, and we could have sudden flashes of insight or fresh new ideas. However, our ideas are not always received well by others and we can be scatter-brained. It’s a challenge to deal with routine matters or monotonous tasks under this influence. Tasks may be left undone or interrupted. This is not a good time to be understood, so we may want to hold off presenting our ideas for the time being. New information can surface now that upsets the status quo, but can also act to stimulate our minds into new ways of thinking.
Mars sesquiquadrate Saturn. We are called upon to solve problems, or our plans and efforts meet with resistance. Circumstances seem to block our efforts to assert ourselves. Patience is necessary now, although frustration is very likely. It can feel like more effort than usual is required to complete tasks.

AUGUST 11
It’s an astrologically busy day. The Moon enters Capricorn–a practical, goal-oriented transit. Our desire to be efficient and useful increases. However, several influences point to some murkiness today. Mercury’s minor square to Jupiter early today suggests some tendency to blow a matter out of proportion. Mercury enters Leo this afternoon. It first moved into Leo on June 26th, but later turned retrograde, retreating into Cancer, now re-entering the Fixed Fire sign. Mercury covers old ground and then leaves its post-retrograde shadow on the 15th. It will stay in Leo until August 29th. Our communications are more colorful, and we are more convincing and persuasive, exuding confidence when we speak or write, while Mercury is in Leo. Two stations occur today. First, Jupiter turns direct after retrograde motion since April 10th. Gradually over the coming weeks, matters ruled by Jupiter will move forward more straightforwardly. Our confidence in ourselves and the universe builds. Our faith and perspective expand. This direct turn can feel refreshing at a time when there is quite a bit of retrograde activity, in general. Second, Uranus turns retrograde and will continue this apparent backward motion until January 10th, 2020. During this cycle, our desire to make changes in our lives turns inward. We are getting in touch with what it is that may be holding us back from living more spontaneously and authentically. We seem less rebellious, at least on the surface, and more inclined to follow the rules. This will be especially so after Saturn turns direct on September 18th, which will serve to highlight a more conservative approach to pursuing our goals. Today as the shift occurs, however, Uranian energy is more challenging, and we can experience some tension until we acclimatize to the energy. A Venus-Neptune quincunx adds to the lack of clarity on this “shift” day. Uncertainty in Venus-ruled areas of life (romance, social life, pleasures, and finances) can be a theme. There can be some struggle between wanting to see things realistically and preferring to look the other way or nurture a fantasy. There can be some insecurity or doubts about others or our own feelings and perceptions.
The Moon is void until it enters Capricorn today at 12:51 AM EDT.
AUGUST 12
The Moon spends the day in Capricorn and is a responsible and practical Moon. This transit helps to ground us, but also stimulates our ambitions. We crave results, preferring to see the reality of a situation. We are paying strong attention to our responsibilities and the structures in our lives. While the Moon aligns with heavyweight planets, Saturn and Pluto, it also harmonizes with Neptune today. This suggests there are opportunities to add personal, creative, and imaginative touches to our projects and pursuits.
The Moon is void from 6:12 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Pluto), until the Moon enters Aquarius the next day, Tuesday, August 13th at 11:36 AM EDT.
AUGUST 13
The day’s energies are complicated–highly creative in spots, but also a bit picky. The Sun and Venus head toward alignment, forming minor challenging aspects to both Chiron and Pluto. This is a time for reaching out and making connections, and for starting fresh in our relationships. We are re-awakened to the beauty of life around us. New energy invigorates our close relationships. The desire to strike a balance in our relationships or environment is a motivator now. There can be more graciousness, diplomacy, and charm expressed now, and perhaps some superficiality. While we are proud of our ability to get along with others now, there can be some misunderstandings. This is a time of adjustments and re-assessments in our relationships or social lives, or regarding our psychological development and growth. Unreasonable or irrational fears of loss or jealousy could emerge.
The Moon is void until it enters Aquarius today at 11:36 AM EDT.
AUGUST 14
The Moon transits Aquarius all day, and we’re more earnest, friendly, and principled than usual. Our interest in our social life, new ideas, and progress increases. We thrive on intellectual stimulation, change, and unusual or unconventional experiences. The Aquarius Moon forms a sextile to Jupiter in Sagittarius, and our enthusiasm and idealism increase. Friends, community, groups, causes, and happiness goals can be in stronger focus now. We’re inspired to improve and grow. A parallel between Mars and Uranus adds further freedom-seeking, spirited energy to the day.
AUGUST 15
This morning’s Full Moon occurs in the sign of Aquarius with the Moon’s opposition to the Leo Sun. Emotions are strong, and areas of life that have we’ve overlooked or neglected can now come to our attention. This lunation illuminates feelings, attitudes, and circumstances. Awareness of the need for a connection to others, friends, a cause, community, or a group can be powerful. This Full Moon is closely aligned with Venus, suggesting our affections are very much involved with our emotional discoveries. Even so, it can be tough to be objective or even to see their influence. Today’s Mercury-Chiron trine is helpful for communicating our feelings in constructive ways. There is good energy for discussing, or giving further thought to, sensitive topics. The Moon continues its transit of Aquarius most of the day, until 11:50 PM EDT when it enters Pisces.
The Moon is void from 9:03 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to Mars), until the Moon enters Pisces at 11:50 PM EDT.
AUGUST 16
Today’s Mercury-Uranus square stimulates our senses and can bring on sudden flashes of insight and fresh new ideas. However, there can be mental pressures experienced now. It can be difficult organizing our thoughts or dealing with routine matters under this influence. Tasks may be left undone or interrupted. We may be jumping ahead of ourselves in our communications. New information can surface that upsets the status quo, but it can also stimulate new thinking and perspectives. A creative aspect between Mars and Chiron suggests gaining an advantage or edge through strategy, focus, and willingness to grow, learn, and think outside the box. The Moon spends the day in the sign of Pisces, pointing to the need for decompressing, winding down, and tapping into our intuition.
AUGUST 17
The Moon spends the day in the sign of Pisces. The Mars-Saturn minor square today suggests we’re drawn to solving problems, but it can be challenging to find solutions right now. Our plans and efforts might meet with resistance. Circumstances seem to block our efforts to assert ourselves. Patience is necessary, although frustration is possible. Life can feel a little slow due to delays or restrictions. However, the Pisces Moon, in alignment with Neptune, encourages our imagination. We’re inclined to adjust, help, and make sacrifices, and also to escape uncomfortable situations. We can have powerful dreams, ideas, fantasies, and insights.
The Moon is void from 6:35 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Pluto), until the Moon enters Aries tomorrow, Sunday, August 18th, at 12:33 PM EDT.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Sagittarius
The Moon is at her most optimistic and upbeat in Sagittarius. We are motivated by a need to seek the truth, and we are ready to pursue a new vision. We are not interested in details just now. Instead, we focus on the big picture. New experiences and adventures satisfy a deep emotional need. Spontaneity is the key. We may also be inclined toward overdoing and overstating. We don't want to plan ahead, and prefer to "wing it".
The Moon in Sagittarius generally favors the following activities: Adventurous activities that involve "winging it", travel, higher education, starting publishing projects, advertising, sports, physical activity.
When the Moon is in Capricorn
We become aware of the need for structure and planning ahead. We also instinctively are aware of the limitations of time. We are motivated by a desire for success. Achievement and manifestation are most important to us now. We are resourceful and don't want to waste time, energy, or resources. This can be a very sober influence--even a depressing one. However, it can also be a productive time when we look reality in the eye.
The Moon in Capricorn generally favors the following activities: Long-term activities that yield slow but steady results, practical undertakings, career issues, making a business plan, practical investments.
When the Moon is in Aquarius
Attraction to all that is new and unusual, and an instinctive need for improvement, characterize the Moon in Aquarius. Reactions are more intellectual than emotional, and interactions are more impersonal than personal, under this influence. This is a time that promotes social gatherings, dealing with group ideals and goals for the future, brainstorming, new ideas, and progressive changes. We are open to new methods of doing things and we have our eye on the future. It can be hard to stick to schedules now, as personal freedom is most important to us.
The Moon in Aquarius generally favors the following activities: Unusual or radical undertakings, social pursuits, group projects, trying something new, joining a group.
When the Moon is in Pisces
We may not want to face reality while the Moon is in dreamy, impressionable Pisces. It can be a wistful, sensitive, intuitive, and compassionate time. We are especially imaginative, and our intuition reigns under this influence. Boundaries and walls come down, as Pisces energy merges and blends. It's a time when details are overlooked and feelings defy description.
The Moon in Pisces generally favors the following activities: Imaginative undertakings, mystical or spiritual pursuits, inner development, music and drama, going on a retreat, activities involving water.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Leo “This I do for me” is your motto at a time like this. This is your time to shine, like a swirl of starstuff that has finally reached critical mass and suddenly starts to give off more light than it receives. Issues of pride, mastery, and appreciation become more and more central to your lifestream as this cycle progresses, as does a very important lesson: it’s not what you do so much as how you do it, not who you are so much as how you make others feel about themselves. If it doesn’t come from the heart, it shouldn’t matter now.
Mercury in Cancer Gut-level is the way you think, speak, and perceive in the cycle you have just begun. You aren’t interested in the superficial; instead, you want to get right to the root of things. You don’t care about the universal, only about how things impact you and yours. Intellect and emotion mix to the point of inseparability.
Mercury in Leo The hallmark of the cycle you have just begun is thinking, learning and communicating with style. Intellectual creativity is highlighted, and your social connections have a certain flair of drama to them. Winning the admiration of others for the things you say or write (and the way you do it) takes on more importance in your life.
Venus in Leo Romance becomes an end in itself as a new cycle begins for you. It marks a time when love, creativity, and self-expression satisfy a deep yearning to be appreciated and admired – needed, even. A flashy, flirty, stylish splash of color and warmth.
Mars in Leo The thrill of the chase, the smell of the greasepaint, the roar of the crowd: that’s what gets your juices flowing now that you’ve entered a new cycle. To be appreciated, to be admired (adored, even) – that’s what you crave. It’s a time of creativity, drama, and passion; a time when grabbing the spotlight and stealing the scene gives you a thrill. Is winning everything? No – but it’s way ahead of whatever comes in second!
Jupiter in Sagittarius Faith, optimism, and a yearning to explore all kinds of new horizons: these are some of the focal points in your life at this time. Travel, education, and other ways to stretch your horizons open new doors of opportunity. Religious, philosophical, and cultural matters are likely to have special appeal for you now; transmitting ideas on a broader scale brings gain.
Saturn in Capricorn Responsibility, hard work, ambition, and achievement: these are the foundations you need to build on now, as a new cycle dawns in your life. And yet, there is a tendency to be a little too hard, perhaps a bit cold, in your approach to these things. Let ambition take you to the top, but don’t let it lull you into thinking that the end justifies the means.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone and everyone in their place…
