Daily Trends
The FULL MOON occurs on Thursday, October 17th, 2024, at 7:26 AM EDT.
A Full Moon occurs when the Sun in Libra forms an opposition to the Moon in Aries. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time – a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.
The Aries-Libra polarity is a relationship axis, where Aries represents “self,” and Libra represents “other.” Where Aries is about self-assertion, Libra is about compromise.
Through the energy of the Libra Sun, we are aware of the need for relationships and all that comes with maintaining them–compromising, negotiating, graciousness, and balancing. The Aries Moon, on the other hand, is self-assertive, leading, and personally courageous.
This Full Moon urges us to strike a balance between meeting our personal needs and attending to the needs of a significant other, and between independence or autonomy and dependence or companionability.
The Libra Sun is diplomatic, equality-minded, and fair-minded. The Aries Moon, however, values authenticity over tact and is energized by independent efforts. The Full Moon illuminates this conflict.
Neglecting either end of the Aries-Libra axis will surely backfire on us. Ideally, we find a balance between the two energies, and this is what the Full Moon invites us to do.
This Full Moon is about emotional declarations. Something has been building inside of us, likely of a personal nature, and now is the time when the energy of the cosmos fairly demands that we let it out. Over the upcoming weeks, we will discover what this declaration means for us. For now, we can’t sit on our feelings. We need to express them.
The Full Moon Chart:
This phase of the Moon occurs at 24 degrees and 35 minutes of Aries opposite the Sun at the same degree of Libra, affecting planets at approximately 21 to 29 degrees of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) the most.
The Full Moon illuminates the conflict between “me” and “you,” and between autonomy and sharing. With the Moon full and bright in the sky, symbolic illumination occurs in our own lives. However, these new feelings and revelations are emotional ones, as there is a sense of emotions bursting forth into our consciousness. It’s time to express ourselves and to let things out of our systems. Of course, we might want to exercise some care while doing so, knowing that what is coming out of us is new and not particularly rational.
This lunation reminds us to consider how we are honoring ourselves in the context of our close relationships. New revelations can occur now, particularly in the areas of our physical bodies, leadership skills, our ability to initiate and begin new things, and our close partnerships. We’re brave, determined, and resourceful.
This second chart wheel is of the same event (the Full Moon in Aries), but it includes additional points, such as the four major asteroids, Sedna, Chiron, and Eris. Please click on either wheel to enlarge.

(Times are Eastern)
This week: The Sun is in Libra; Mercury is in Libra only until the 13th, when Mercury enters Scorpio; Venus is in Scorpio until the 17th, when Venus enters Sagittarius; Mars is in Cancer.
The Sun is in Libra from September 22-October 22. Libra rules relationships with others as mirrors of ourselves. Meeting others halfway, compromise, and negotiation come under the rule of Libra. The focus is now on balance–finding balance and harmony through relationships with others and through art. Libra is the sign of the peacemaker.
However, life is not always peaceful with Libra in its attempt to restore balance. Decision-making can be more challenging while the Sun is in Libra. Libra weighs both sides of any situation, and sometimes this process seems endless!
In Libra, the Sun is concerned about not rocking the boat and not rubbing others the wrong way. Tactfulness, style, tolerance, and sociability are some of the keywords for Libra. On the shadow side, Libra can be self-serving, indecisive, passive-aggressive, and superficial.
Mercury is in Libra from September 26-October 13. When Mercury is in Libra, we are diplomatic and friendly. During this cycle, we bring a more rational approach to one-to-one relationships. It’s a good time to think about ways to improve our negotiation skills.
Mercury in Libra can be vacillating energy as we attempt to see both sides of any given situation. Making quick decisions can be more challenging than usual, as we can sit “on the fence.” We may too easily accommodate others’ opinions to keep the peace. In our negotiations, we don’t want to assert ourselves so as to appear to be the “bad guy.” However, this is a reasonable period for considering others’ points of view. We are more inclined to arrive at fair conclusions.
Mercury is in Scorpio from October 13-November 2. When Mercury is in Scorpio, our thoughts and communications are more probing and intense. While Mercury in Libra urged us to find balance and arrive at reasonable solutions, Mercury in Scorpio instinctively knows that life simply isn’t fair. Mercury in Scorpio seeks truths in all that is hidden and undercover.
We tend to probe, observe, and focus our thoughts under this influence. Looking for motivations–the more deeply buried, the better–satisfies an intellectual need now. Our thoughts are profound. We throw away superficial manners of communicating in favor of deep conversations.
Scorpio is exceptionally sharp, profound, and analytical yet also intuitive. Thinking is inclined to be one-track-minded, focused, and even obsessive.
Mercury-in-Scorpio isn’t shocked by much, or at least keeps its cool even if surprised. During this cycle, our approach is psychological when analyzing, deciding, and studying or observing. We’re not afraid to go places mentally. We get to the heart of a matter or to the bottom line very quickly, usually through instinct. Our resourcefulness and strategy stand out. We’re competitive.
We can be intrigued by motives and secrets or taboos. It’s not easy to take instruction or someone’s word for it–we have to experience it ourselves to draw conclusions. This position of Mercury is one of the most persuasive. It’s an excellent time to research, investigate, troubleshoot, and work on hunches. If left to observe on our own, we do our best thinking, seeking the hidden layers of a situation.
Venus is in Scorpio from September 22-October 17. Deeply passionate relations are the focus with Venus in Scorpio. Superficial flirtations and contacts do not satisfy now, as we yearn for “body and soul” contact with someone special–contact that breaks the taboos, that is extreme and intense, and that is unforgettable. It’s a highly emotional position for Venus, and it’s passionate energy.
Our relationships are immensely important to us, and we may even feel that they consume us. In fact, we tend to want to be consumed by them! Our drive is toward intense closeness, but blind faith in our partners is extremely hard for us now. Fears of being too vulnerable or of giving up our own power to others are strong. Scorpio is an “all or nothing” energy, and relationships tend to be somewhat of a rollercoaster ride as a result. Disdain for mediocrity and superficiality can compel us to create crises to feel alive and vital.
Similarly, during this Venus-in-Scorpio cycle, we seek or gravitate to absorbing, deeply engaging, dramatic pleasures, activities, projects, and art. Things that are profound, disturbing, mysterious, or unusual can be more appealing now.
This can be a good time for finances, especially when working with others’ talents or resources, whether as an agent, supporter, or partner.
Venus is in Sagittarius from October 17-November 11. Moving from Scorpio to Sagittarius, romantic energy shifts from intense to buoyant. Sagittarius, of course, has its intense moments, considering it is a fire sign. However, its energy is considerably less focused; and, while Scorpio is most concerned with intimacy with a specific person, Sagittarius’ love is of a more universal kind.
Romantic adventures and a straightforward–even blunt–approach to love are on the agenda. Gone are the intricacy and complexity of Venus in Scorpio. Truth and higher meaning are the priorities with Venus in Sagittarius.
We’re idealistic in our relationships during this cycle. It’s more critical than usual that our partners and companions support our dreams, goals, freedom needs, beliefs, and vision. We value intellectual rapport more than usual during this period.
Openness with our feelings can sometimes backfire, but for the most part, it can be refreshing. We tend to more spontaneously enjoy ourselves or throw ourselves into pleasure, art, cultural interests, and special interest topics at this time. We can especially enjoy travel, learning, the outdoors, or animals.
With money, we can be a little reckless or careless, but also faithful and optimistic. Some element of luck or good karma can be involved with our finances. Benefits, whether material or spiritual, can come through publishing, foreign or religious connections, travel, education, or legal matters.
Mars is in Cancer from September 4-November 3, 2024, and then January 6-April 18, 2025. [Why so long and in two steps? Mars transits the full sign of Cancer from September 4th to November 3rd, when it moves on to Leo, but then turns retrograde in Leo on December 6th, 2024. While retrograde, Mars later returns to Cancer (on January 6th, 2025). Mars ends its retrograde on February 23rd, and later completes its transit of Cancer on April 18th, 2025.] We pursue our interests ardently, but we avoid a direct approach to going after we want while Mars transits Cancer. As well, our goals and plans are subject to mood swings and vacillations. We are defensive rather than overtly aggressive. Much of what we do depends on our current mood of the moment.
We’re also very intuitive and can be moved to take action to bring peace or comfort and safety to our lives during this period. We go to bat for our loved ones. In fact, we’re fiercely protective. It’s a powerful period for putting ego matters aside so that we can push our plans forward. Inner satisfaction and love are generally more important to us than outer achievements at this time. Personal and domestic goals are our priority during this phase.
.
Jupiter is in Gemini.
Jupiter began its transit of Gemini on May 24th, 2024, and continues its transit of the sign until June 9th, 2025. Read more about Jupiter’s transit of Gemini.
Saturn transits Pisces from March 7th, 2023 until May 24th, 2025, and Sep 1st, 2025, to Feb 13th, 2026. Read about Saturn’s transit of Pisces. Saturn will enter Aries on May 24th, 2025.
Uranus is in Taurus.
Uranus transits Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and then from March 6th, 2019, until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. Above all, we’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle.
There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. In general, we’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money, are likely. Our income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Pluto transitions from Capricorn to Aquarius in 2023 and 2024. Read about Pluto’s transit of Aquarius. Pluto retrograded back into Capricorn, and was in Capricorn until January 20th, 2024. Pluto was in Aquarius from January 20th to September 1st, when it retreated into Capricorn once again. Note: Pluto is slow-moving through the zodiac signs!
Note that Pluto is now in Capricorn for the final journey through the sign from September 1st to November 19th, 2024, from which time Pluto stays in Aquarius for many years to come.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Scorpio from September 22-October 17. Deeply passionate relations are the focus with Venus in Scorpio. Superficial flirtations and contacts do not satisfy now, as we yearn for “body and soul” contact with someone special–contact that breaks the taboos, that is extreme and intense, and that is unforgettable. This is a highly emotional position for Venus. It is a passionate, sensual, and intense energy.
Disdain for mediocrity and superficiality can compel us to create crises in order to feel alive and vital. If a relationship becomes too settled or predictable, we may crave more intensity and catalytic experience. Jealousies, fears of betrayal, and power games are the shadow side of Venus in Scorpio.
We may easily become obsessed with a fear that our partners might be betraying us, or that they are not as consumed by and dedicated to the relationship as us. This can lead us to try to uncover the “truth”, reading too many negative possibilities in our partners’ actions and words.
Venus is in Sagittarius from October 17-November 11. As Venus moves from Scorpio to Sagittarius, romantic energy changes from intense to buoyant. Gone are the intricacy and complexity of the Venus-in-Scorpio phase. Truth and higher meaning are focal points for Sagittarius.
Venus in Sagittarius is forward-looking, not very specific, outgoing, and energetic. Freedom is most important in our love relationships now. We take a happy and enthusiastic approach to love, and we might find too much intensity or seriousness depressing. We have a taste for the exotic as well as for adventure with Venus in Sagittarius.
This position’s shadow side is restlessness, the inability to “settle down,” and endless searching for something bigger and “better.”
This week: On Monday, we might battle a feeling of being tied down–conflicting feelings are likely now. We can feel torn between wanting our freedom/independence and craving company. Feelings or revelations in our relationships can throw us off-center, and some resistance to bonding is likely.
Tuesday brings potentially magical energy for love and pleasure. We treat lovers with more tenderness or we see them in a more sensitive, obliging light. Certainly, we’re particularly open to romance and sensitive to others’ needs and backstories. We see the very best in people now, which eases our interactions and takes the pressure off in personal relationships.
On Wednesday and Thursday, our willingness to go “all in” can improve a key relationship. Strong attractions and powerful feelings are likely.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Scorpio This is way beyond love, all the way to obsession – that’s the nature of the cycle that now takes hold in your life. We’re not talking just lukewarm WANT here; we’re talking red-hot GOT TO HAVE! Passion, jealousy, possession: these are the kinds of experiences that can flow from the intensity that courses through you at one level or another now – voracious.
Venus in Sagittarius A yearning for adventure and far horizons stirs in you now. To roam, to wander and wonder, to seek freedom and go where no one has gone before – these things are deep and powerful longings. A time of romantic crusades, a universal love that might not be too particular.
Venus quincunx Jupiter October 10. A strong desire for the pleasures of life is with us now, although our eyes are often bigger than our stomachs. Troubles in relationships now are likely due to overblown expectations. It can be challenging to find a balance between responsibilities and the desire for self-gratification.
Venus quincunx Chiron October 10. There may be vague feelings of discontent in relationships; or a choice that needs to be made regarding personal relationships, money, or possessions. Insecurity involving others might make it awkward for us to express our affections naturally or flowingly.
Venus contra-parallel Uranus October 11. Questions of freedom, change, specialness, and experimentation are raised in our relationships.
Venus opposition Uranus October 14. Not a good time to start relationships. Independence is the reigning need. Some fickleness. Uncertainty about the desire to be close to someone. Freedom versus closeness.
Venus trine Neptune October 15. We perceive romantic situations as if they were “designed” just for us. A magical, romantic time. The pleasures of life are experienced fully. Romance is highly favored. We see the very best in people now, and this eases our interactions and takes the pressure off in personal relationships.
Venus sextile Pluto October 16-17. Subtly powerful and uplifting time for romantic/sexual relationships. New insights into relationships and love. Strong attractions.
Venus contraparallel Mars October 20-21. Passions are stimulated and intense. Fine line between love and hate. Competitiveness.
Venus contraparallel Jupiter October 21. We’re optimistic and ready to take a chance or give someone or something the benefit of the doubt. We are able to make the best of a situation now. Watch for overextension. It’s best not to overstate or make big promises based only on the good mood of the moment.
Venus sesquiquadrate Chiron October 22. Love cannot be forced. This is not a commitment-friendly transit, as we may feel alienated for no apparent reason and unwilling to give of ourselves.
Venus trine True North Node October 22. We are more concerned about harmonizing and tend to be agreeable and cooperative. We could feel lucky in love, and we could meet someone who is good for us. Fortunate connections might be made now.
Venus parallel Pluto October 25. The desire for drama and intensity in relationships is with us. Love feelings and relationship issues can be all-consuming now, assuming more importance in our lives than usual. Interactions with others are intense now, and themes of sharing and trust dominate in relationships.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects.
The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart to determine the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass.
The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Sunday, October 13th, from 10:11 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Uranus), until the Moon enters Pisces at 3:55 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Tuesday, October 15th, from 4:00 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Pluto), until the Moon enters Aries at 4:35 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Thursday, October 17th, from 3:27 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Pluto), until the Moon enters Taurus at 4:00 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Saturday, October 19th, from 3:34 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Pluto), until the Moon enters Gemini at 4:08 PM EDT.
October 2024:
Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
It’s important to note that there are more factors to consider in addition to the windows listed below. The following windows are starting points. For example, you generally don’t want to elect a new venture when a very challenging aspect is applying, and it’s preferable to elect a time when a particularly positive aspect hasn’t yet perfected (is applying rather than separating).
The Moon is waxing this week until the Full Moon on the 17th, which is generally considered favorable for new beginnings, although with some exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details). The Moon is waning from the Full Moon on the 17th onward, which is generally considered unfavorable for new beginnings, also with some exceptions.
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs this week on Tuesday, October 15th, from approximately 3:40 AM to 3:55 PM EDT, while the Moon is in Pisces. Another window occurs from Friday, October 18th, at approximately 4:20 AM EDT, until Saturday, October 19th, at approximately 3:30 PM EDT, while the Moon is in Taurus.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Mercury square Pluto. The tendency to read between the lines with a negative slant is strong during this transit, and can easily stir up trouble. Suspiciousness, making mountains out of molehills, telling others only what we want them to know are possible themes. Mental anxiety or troubles could manifest now. We should try to avoid forcing our ideas on others and strive to maintain an open mind. Compulsive thinking is possible. On the other hand, this influence can suggest the ability to engage in deep, penetrating communication.
Mars square Chiron. It can be challenging expressing our desires and our anger clearly and directly under this influence. There can be a tendency to rebel against others’ wishes or plans. We may be defensive and touchy, and resentments or frustrations can surface now.
Sun opposition Chiron. The desire to learn and grow through experiences and through others is strong, but may be hampered by a lack of confidence or a fear of being different. We may not be seeing eye to eye with others, and lack of faith in our own decisions is likely as well. We might also be so concerned with keeping others happy that we are afraid to assert our own desires.
Sun trine Jupiter. This influence is about growth and expansiveness. We are more aware of moral issues, and have a desire to improve and learn. Optimism and confidence are basic elements in the energy of this transit. We are more willing to take a risk or two, and we are motivated by a desire to impress others. Enthusiasm runs high, and cooperation comes easy. This is generally a good time to schedule new beginnings in business, education, personal relationships, marriage, creative projects, and so forth, all things equal.
Sun square Mars. We have “spring fever” no matter what the season. Driven by a restless desire to do something, without a well-defined goal we tend towards impulsive actions and get ourselves into needless arguments. Our reactions tend to be defensive or competitive. We are not very willing to compromise or negotiate. We are more inclined to injury and accident. Energy output can run high if we choose to focus.
Venus opposition Uranus. Sudden attractions that may not last come under this influence. Similarly, impulsive attractions to material items that later prove to be unappealing occur now. This is not a good time to start a new relationship nor for any significant financial undertaking. Values and tastes may clash, and group activities may suffer as a result. Impulsive attractions to both people and material goods can lead us astray.
Avoid impulse buys at this time. Some instability, restlessness, and rebelliousness are probable in romantic relationships. We may not see eye to eye, and we might be taken off guard by unexpected events. This is not a favorable aspect for beauty treatments because they could have unexpected results. We may struggle with freedom versus intimacy issues at this time. It’s wise to hold off on decision-making with regards to finances and relationships. However, if we can separate rebellion from a sincere need for change, we might open ourselves up to new ways of dealing with others.
Venus trine Neptune. We are more attuned to the world of beauty, the arts, and the imagination. Compassion, harmony, kindness, and openness characterize this transit. Gentleness with others is the best way to harness this energy. This can be a “magical” time on a romantic and social level. The pleasures of life are experienced fully. We see the very best in people now, and this eases our interactions and takes the pressure off in personal relationships. Romance is highly favored.
Venus sextile Pluto. If we seize the opportunity, this is a good time for both finances and relationships. The feelings are impassioned, but not in an offensive or unpleasant way. We are focused and confident, and we appreciate depth of feeling and authenticity in our dealings with others.
Mercury sesquiquadrate Jupiter. We experience information overload, and we neglect to consider details. People tend to exaggerate today.
Sun quincunx Uranus. Surprise elements make us feel out of control of our lives or the direction we would like to take. Disrupted plans or schedules. Unexpected events or change of plans.

OCTOBER 13
This is an astrologically busy day. Mercury forms a square to Pluto this morning and then leaves Libra and enters Scorpio this afternoon. This square can stir some suspicion and have our minds twisted in a knot. We’re overthinking things. We can be determined to get our message across and have others agree with our ideas. This aspect may play to our insecurities and fears that we’re not getting all the information we need or that others don’t respect our views. We should avoid forcing our opinions on others and instead strive for healthy skepticism rather than suspicion or paranoia. Obsessive thinking is possible now, but with self-awareness and mindfulness, we have the power to engage in in-depth, penetrating communication or think more deeply about a matter.
Mars forms a square to Chiron, and the Sun opposes Chiron, adding a strong layer of insecurity and sensitivity to the day’s energies. Old emotional wounds can open. There can be tension and pressure, as well as some irritability. It can be challenging to express our desires and anger clearly and directly. We tend to rebel against others’ wishes or plans, and we may be defensive and touchy. We might confront our insecurities and vulnerabilities through our relationships and interactions. Lack of faith in our own decisions is possible. We might also be so concerned with keeping others happy that we are afraid to assert our desires.
However, this is also a time to recognize something important about ourselves through our sensitivities and reactions. Ideally, we connect with what’s cramping our style and bringing us down. With the Sun heading toward a square with Mars, a tense T-square is forming. Reactions tend to be defensive or competitive. We may be looking for strength but disappointed when we instead see vulnerable areas.
Fortunately, a Sun-Jupiter trine tonight boosts our tolerance and desire to grow through our experiences. We’re ready to give one another the benefit of the doubt. Enthusiasm runs high, and cooperation comes easily. This transit stimulates hope, optimism, and a desire to improve and impress. We seek to grow and expand a venture, a relationship, our knowledge, personal philosophy, or a self-improvement program. We make grand gestures and rise above petty problems and differences. Optimism and confidence are core elements in the energy of this transit.
Mercury enters Scorpio today, and until November 2nd, we seek truths in all things hidden or undercover. It’s a time to probe, investigate, observe, and focus. Looking for motivations-–the more deeply buried, the better–-satisfies an intellectual need. We throw away superficial manners of communicating in favor of deep conversations. Scorpio is exceptionally sharp, profound, and analytical. Thinking tends to be one-track-minded and perhaps obsessive during this cycle.
The Moon is void from 10:11 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Uranus), until the Moon enters Pisces at 3:55 PM EDT.
OCTOBER 14
The Sun forms a square with Mars this morning, and we may have difficulty settling down, entertaining an intense urge to take action and make things happen, but we may not know how to direct this excess energy. We feel the need for more challenges, enterprise, and initiative. Reactions tend to be defensive or competitive now, and we can be averse to negotiation or compromise. However, energy output can run high if we focus and exercise patience. It’s important not to rush ourselves, others, or projects.
Venus opposes Uranus today, and unexpected events or feelings may take us off guard. Our feelings, attractions, or people in our lives can surprise us now. Some instability, restlessness, and rebelliousness are themes in our social interactions. Our needs for comfort and togetherness appear to clash with the desire to be free and independent. Indeed, we can experience sudden infatuations with people or material items that later prove less appealing. As such, it’s not a good time to start a significant financial undertaking or relationship — not until rebellious feelings pass and we gain a better sense of how we honestly feel. Falling back on old patterns of relating won’t work now. Still, if we can separate rebellion from a sincere need for change, we might open ourselves to new ways of relating that accommodate our diverse needs.
OCTOBER 15
The Moon aligns with Neptune in Pisces today, and Venus forms a trine to Neptune. We’re easily touched and moved. We open up to beauty and faith and trust others before judging, preferring to cooperate, not compete. Seeing the best in people takes the pressure off in personal relationships. We’re also inclined to glamorize objects, situations, and pleasures. It’s easier to tap into our inner spiritual wisdom and draw on compassion. We prioritize spiritual and emotional concerns over material ones at this time and won’t step over others to achieve our goals. The Aries Moon, from 4:35 PM forward, is direct, action-oriented, and enterprising. We’re gearing up to take action and initiate.
The Moon is void from 4:00 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Pluto), until the Moon enters Aries at 4:35 PM EDT.
OCTOBER 16
With today’s Sun-Juno alignment, we’re in great shape to strengthen and support each other and build trust in the process. We take greater pride in our relationships, and we’re willing to put more effort into them. We tend to instinctively know how to behave in ways that boost others’ confidence. This can be a pleasantly ambitious time. The Moon spends the day in independent Aries, however, and our personal initiative is also strong. The desire to start fresh or take action can drive us. The Aries Moon is straightforward and upfront. We recognize our need for self-direction.
OCTOBER 17
A Full Moon occurs this morning at 7:27 AM EDT in the sign of Aries, and epiphanies can happen as our feelings come to full bloom. This Full Moon reminds us to consider how we are honoring ourselves in the context of our close relationships. New revelations are likely, particularly about our leadership skills, feelings of independence, ability to initiate and begin new things, and close partnerships. With the Moon full and bright in the sky, symbolic illumination occurs in our lives. But because these new feelings and revelations are emotional, we might want to exercise some care in expressing or acting on them.
Venus forms a sextile to Pluto before it leaves Scorpio and enters Sagittarius today, and this transit gently breaks down barriers, helping us with new insight into our needs for love, comfort, or pleasure and our money situation. We might take a comfortably strategic approach to these affairs. Our feelings are more focused and intensified in a generally pleasant and positive way. We seek depth of emotion and authenticity in our dealings.
Venus enters Sagittarius today, where it will transit until November 11th, and romantic adventures and a straightforward and even blunt approach to love are on the agenda. We leave behind complexities and embrace directness and clarity. We take pleasure in seeking truth and higher meaning, and we’re open, sincere, and optimistic with others. While it’s not the best time for care with money, it’s strong for enthusiasm and spirit.
The Moon is void from 3:27 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Pluto), until the Moon enters Taurus at 4:00 PM EDT.
OCTOBER 18
The Moon spends the day in Taurus, and we’re less interested in innovating and more interested in building on what we already have in place. This Moon is a steady, pleasant influence that helps us pace ourselves. Still, the Moon opposes Mercury early today, and there can be a disconnect between our emotions and intellect. Minor disagreements, especially about sensitivity to feelings, are more likely now. Later today, we approach a Sun-Uranus quincunx, and we could be dealing with minor disruptions of plans or a restless urge for change that interferes with the flow. Instead, a fear of change can stop us in our tracks temporarily, but we may get the chance to make refinements and recalibrate.
OCTOBER 19
The Moon continues its transit of Taurus until 4:08 PM EDT, aligning with Uranus this morning. We’re listening to our needs for change and innovation, but we’re respecting the process and the need for patience. This is a good time to put in effort towards scientific or progressive causes and projects or bring new, unique, and exciting elements to our work. New techniques or options can emerge, and we can feel very excited about pursuing them. The Moon in Gemini from 4:08 PM forward is curious and communicative, making it a good time to look into new topics and handle several different tasks, although it’s not an ideal time for follow-through.
The Moon is void from 3:34 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Pluto), until the Moon enters Gemini at 4:08 PM EDT.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Aquarius
Attraction to all that is new and unusual, and an instinctive need for improvement, characterize the Moon in Aquarius. Reactions are more intellectual than emotional, and interactions are more impersonal than personal, under this influence. This is a time that promotes social gatherings, dealing with group ideals and goals for the future, brainstorming, new ideas, and progressive changes. We are open to new methods of doing things and we have our eye on the future. It can be hard to stick to schedules now, as personal freedom is most important to us.
The Moon in Aquarius generally favors the following activities: Unusual or radical undertakings, social pursuits, group projects, trying something new, joining a group.
When the Moon is in Pisces
We may not want to face reality while the Moon is in dreamy, impressionable Pisces. It can be a wistful, sensitive, intuitive, and compassionate time. We are especially imaginative, and our intuition reigns under this influence. Boundaries and walls come down, as Pisces energy merges and blends. It's a time when details are overlooked and feelings defy description.
The Moon in Pisces generally favors the following activities: Imaginative undertakings, mystical or spiritual pursuits, inner development, music and drama, going on a retreat, activities involving water.
When the Moon is in Aries
We're motivated by a strong desire to start fresh. A gut instinct to begin something new is with us now, as well as the gumption to do so. Our pioneering impulses are strong, and we feel energetic, spontaneous, and enthusiastic. We may also be tactless and impulsive now. Excess energy is best channeled into physical activity.
People can be more self-motivated and also self-focused while the Moon is in Aries. It's a competitive rather than cooperative time. Accidents and tempers flaring are more likely than usual. This period is one of more personal courage.
The Moon in Aries generally favors the following activities: Quick actions that yield immediate results. Undertakings that involve the self and the personality. (Staying power may be lacking). Self-assertion, taking on challenges, beginning short-term projects.
When the Moon is in Taurus
We are motivated by the desire for serenity, security, peace, and comfort. The Moon is at her most sensual and constant in Taurus. Our basic impulses are to relax, resist change, and "stop to smell the roses." Life slows down a little, and we get comfortable. We may also be inclined to stubbornness and materialism under this influence.
While the Moon is in Taurus, people can be emotionally constant but inflexible. It's a time of stronger focus on personal needs and comfort levels, and a period of more common sense and attention to practical matters.
The Moon in Taurus generally favors the following activities: Substantial and material actions that yield solid results. Financial activities, and those involving personal possessions, applying for a loan, beginning a potentially long-term relationship, music, home decor.
When the Moon is in Gemini
Our basic instinct is to communicate, think, and learn under the influence of Moon in Gemini. We are motivated by a desire for variety and by an instinctive curiosity. The Moon in Gemini is light-hearted, breezy, spirited, and curious, but it can also be restless and fickle.
The Moon in Gemini generally favors the following activities: Mental and communicative actions, and more than one activity at once. Reading, learning, letters and emails, errands, writing, teaching, making connections, cafes, light and airy meetings, short trips.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Libra Meeting yourself in another person is the keynote of a new cycle which begins for you now. Relationships – romantic, business, social – are the arena where this drama is played out. In coming to know the other person, forging ties that bind two people, you come to a better understanding of yourself. It’s easy in theory, but it’s only in practice that it comes to mean anything real – so practice until you get it right!
Mercury in Libra A new cycle begins for you, signaling a greater than usual interest in relationships, social connections, and the arts – on a more intellectual level than in the past, most likely. Seeing both sides of an issue, and figuring out resolutions to opposing views: these things take on more importance in your life.
Mercury in Scorpio A pronounced curiosity about taboos and mysteries plays a greater part in your life now. Your mind is on cutting through the nonessentials and penetrating to the core is where your mind is at now; you want to know who (or what) pulls the strings. Sex, taxes, investments, and others of life’s most compelling phenomena may captivate your interest more than ever before.
Mars in Cancer Defensive, aren’t we? With this new cycle getting underway, protecting and preserving you and yours takes on a higher than usual priority. A sensitivity to the needs and wants of others and an appreciation for their frailties (as well as your own) makes you more cautious and conservative … you pick your battles with care.
Jupiter in Gemini Facilitating the transfer of ideas and information takes on a special priority for you now. Writing, studying, and communicating play a bigger role in your life as a result. The belief that well-informed people will make the right decisions becomes an article of faith. Just remember: sometimes people know the right thing to do and STILL do something different!
Saturn in Pisces Making peace with the past, coming to terms with karmic debts: these are some of the issues that confront you as a new phase begins in your life. Failure to face these things can cause setbacks and put obstacles in your path. Learn to look beyond the narrowly personal and selfish or you’ll get in over your head.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small, but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone and everyone in their place…
