The New MOON occurs on Monday, November 9th, 2026, at 2:02 AM EST.
Early Monday, there’s a New Moon in the sign of Scorpio.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 16 degrees and 53 minutes of Scorpio. This New Moon widely aligns with retrograde Mercury and widely squares the Mars-Jupiter alignment in Leo.
In the sign of Scorpio, matters related to intimacy, control, power, money, and sharing will be a strong focus in the period ahead of this New Moon. New beginnings or fresh starts are possible in these areas.
The New Moon in Scorpio marks the beginning of a cycle, presenting an opportune time to commit to personal goals that express the positive energies of the sign of the Scorpion–passionate, resourceful, focused, probing, deep, and perceptive.
Scorpio New Moon cycles favor working on our self-mastery skills. We may want to pinpoint those things that make us feel out of control, such as addictions and debts, and work on freeing ourselves of these emotional burdens.
This New Moon cycle is also opportune for exploring what is missing in our lives that leads us to engage in these self-destructive behaviors.
There can be an opportunity to rid ourselves of “junk” in our lives–material and spiritual. With this potent Scorpio energy, we have the chance to make important changes in our lives.
Each sign teaches us valuable things, and one of Scorpio’s “lessons” involves learning to dig deeper into the mysteries around us instead of always being content with the status quo. Taking the time to understand others’ motives can enrich our feelings of intimacy, forgiveness, and meaning.
Scorpio also teaches us that dedication to one meaningful relationship or undertaking can be significantly more satisfying than spreading ourselves around. Here, “quality over quantity” applies.
We might want to use this cycle to focus on and develop one special project or relationship to help add purposefulness and depth to our lives.
It can also be a time to seek ways to release our fear of confrontations and heavy emotional situations. We’re discovering that although they may be uncomfortable, these situations can lead us toward psychological healing.
We may be looking to drum up support from others and motivation from within to accomplish our goals. However, we might struggle with a concurrent desire to be more aboveboard or direct instead of strategic.
The New Moon widely aligns with retrograde Mercury, and it’s hard to see our path, but our discomfort with the past can be very real now, motivating new beginnings. We may be looking to drum up support from others and motivation from within to accomplish our goals. However, we might struggle with a concurrent desire to be more aboveboard or direct instead of strategic.
The New Moon Chart:
This phase of the Moon occurs at 16 degrees and 53 minutes of Scorpio, affecting people with personal planets and points at approximately 13 to 21 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) most significantly.
The above chart is excellent for seeing the fundamental influences and chart pattern of this New Moon. The chart below adds more details with additional points. Click to enlarge:

This week: The Sun is in Scorpio; Mercury is in Scorpio; Venus is in Libra; Mars is in Leo.
The Sun is in Scorpio from October 23-November 22. The guiding principle of Scorpio is “I desire.” Scorpio is the sign of depth, intimacy, and extremes of feeling. Superficiality simply will not do with the Sun in Scorpio–we want to get to the bottom of matters. Mediocrity does not satisfy either. All that is hidden, taboo, secret, or suppressed interests us. In Libra, we strived towards equality and fairness. Scorpio, however, instinctively believes that life simply isn’t fair.
Scorpio’s energy is provocative, usually in a quiet way, as well as passionate, strong-willed, and intense. It can be an immensely healing and transformative energy. Jealousy, vindictiveness, beating a dead horse, and manipulative are some of the more negative expressions of Scorpio.
We are more likely to prosper through strategy and knowing the value of keeping some things to ourselves at the right times. Efforts to repurpose, recycle, salvage, and transform can be successful. We’re especially successful at organizing, researching, investigating, and analyzing.
While we can be quite controlled with effort, there is some inclination to extremism. We can be drawn to challenges and crises, and we feel compelled to heal, fix, and direct or manage.
Mercury is in Scorpio from September 30-December 6. [This cycle is longer than usual due to Mercury’s upcoming retrograde cycle from October 24th to November 13th.] When Mercury is in Scorpio, our thoughts and communications are more probing and intense. While Mercury in Libra urged us to find balance and arrive at reasonable solutions, Mercury in Scorpio instinctively knows that life simply isn’t fair. Mercury in Scorpio seeks truths in all that is hidden and undercover.
We tend to probe, observe, and focus our thoughts under this influence. Looking for motivations–the more deeply buried, the better–satisfies an intellectual need now. Our thoughts are profound. We throw away superficial manners of communicating in favor of deep conversations.
Scorpio is exceptionally sharp, profound, and analytical yet also intuitive. Thinking is inclined to be one-track-minded, focused, and even obsessive.
Mercury-in-Scorpio isn’t shocked by much, or at least keeps its cool even if surprised. During this cycle, our approach is psychological when analyzing, deciding, and studying or observing. We’re not afraid to go places mentally. We get to the heart of a matter or to the bottom line very quickly, usually through instinct. Our resourcefulness and strategy stand out. We’re competitive.
We can be intrigued by motives and secrets or taboos. It’s not easy to take instruction or someone’s word for it–we have to experience it ourselves to draw conclusions. This position of Mercury is one of the most persuasive. It’s an excellent time to research, investigate, troubleshoot, and work on hunches. If left to observe on our own, we do our best thinking, seeking the hidden layers of a situation.
Venus is in Libra from August 6-September 10, and then from October 25-December 4 [this is longer than usual and in two steps due to the retrograde Venus cycle from October 3-November 13]. We favor charm over assertiveness to get what we want during this cycle. Usually quite willing to negotiate and compromise, we can be very obliging with others. We’re also very idealistic about love, and we seek intellectual peers. Although Venus in Libra is very relationship-focused, there is an air of cool detachment to this energy. We prefer things are done the “right” way, and aggressive or uncouth behavior turns us off.
The shadow expression of this position includes over-dependence and superficiality. To avoid unpleasant situations, we could easily gloss over deeper issues at play in our relationships. It’s probably best to avoid the trap of acquiescing to partners while privately resenting the fact or thinking ourselves martyrs for doing so.
While Venus is in Libra, we are more artistically inclined or seek balance in our personal environment. This cycle is excellent for promoting cooperation, harmony, mutually beneficial connections, and fairness. We are gentle but firm, and we’re skilled at mediation.
We’re more likely to prosper during this cycle in partnership, through one-to-one associations, such as counseling, or in fields related to harmony, relationships, beauty, design, and the law. We’re not fond of out-and-out competition or aggressive pursuit, preferring win-win situations, hands down. We attract things to us and appeal to others gently and kindly. Equality and politeness are important now, and we despise hurting others’ feelings.
Mars is in Leo from September 27-November 25 and later from February 21-May 14, 2027 [This is longer and in two steps due to the upcoming Mars retrograde cycle from January 10-April 1, 2027.] In Leo, Mars is proud, self-confident, and grand. We are spirited and have grand goals. We go after what we want in a direct, self-assured manner, desiring dramatic results. We prefer not to worry about details, and take the least complicated route to our goals. The sex drive is strong, and passion for life is high.
Mars in Leo can awaken a competitive spirit or drive. We’re more willing to take risks to get what we want. We also tend to make a splash, and we want to be in the driver’s seat. This transit is passionate, ardent, and dramatic. We seek to appear strong and prefer to be in the lead or the center of attention. We can be particularly angry if we feel disrespected or in an undignified position.
Jupiter is in Leo.

Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Libra from August 6-September 10, and then from October 25-December 4 [this is longer than usual and in two steps due to a retrograde Venus cycle from October 3-November 13]. We’re not fond of out-and-out competition or aggressive pursuit, preferring win-win situations, hands down. We attract things to us and appeal to others gently and kindly. Equality and politeness are important now, and we despise hurting others’ feelings.
This week: Venus is retrograde most of this week (Venus is retrograde from October 3rd to November 13th). On Monday and Tuesday, we’re inclined to directly, confidently, and pleasingly (or attractively!) pursue our desires. Sexual attraction, romantic activities, and fertility are favored. This is one of the better times to spice up or pursue/attract a relationship. Venus is retrograde, and the focus is on past or unresolved connections.
On Friday the 13th, Venus stations and turns direct, ending its retrograde period.
On Saturday the 14th, we may feel that our quest for pleasure, affection, love, or comfort is at odds with what we think we should be doing, which can lead to mild tension or feelings of guilt, and perhaps some indecision. Seeking to fulfill both of these needs without doing so at the expense of the other makes sense, but isn’t straightforward at this time.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Libra As this new cycle takes hold in your life, romance and social interaction take on a greater importance for you. Harmonious ties to others are what you yearn for; refinement and elegance are what you seek. The ideal partnership, the perfect balance, the highest standards of truth and beauty – these are some of the things that quicken your pulse now.
Venus Rx sextile Jupiter November 3-4. This aspect generates a happy, friendly, and optimistic attitude. People are a little more outgoing and sociable. Favors travel, education, and culture. Romantic opportunities. Harmony and good will.
Venus Rx sextile Mars November 9-10. This points to success and ease in close personal interactions. We are passionate. It’s a good time for financial ventures, social life, artistic pursuits, romance, and pleasure. We are now able to take the initiative and to achieve harmony and sexual fulfillment. This influence brings satisfaction to the feelings. We may make permanent ties or relationships that prove to be fruitful and fortunate.
Venus semi-sextile the Sun November 14-15. We may feel that our quest for pleasure, affection, love, or comfort is at odds with what we think we should be doing, which can lead to mild tension or feelings of guilt, and perhaps some indecision. Seeking to fulfill both of these needs without doing so at the expense of the other makes sense, but isn’t straightforward at this time.
Venus trine True North Node of the Moon November 22-23. We are more concerned about harmonizing and tend to be agreeable and cooperative. We could feel lucky in love, and we could meet someone who is good for us. Fortunately, happy connections might be made now.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects.
The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart to determine the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass.
The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Monday, November 9th, from 6:26 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Sagittarius the next day, Tuesday, November 10th, at 3:36 AM EST.
VOC on Thursday, November 12th, from 6:30 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Capricorn at 3:28 PM EST.
VOC Moon on Saturday, November 14th, from 1:56 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Venus), until the Moon enters Aquarius the next day, Sunday, November 15th, at 4:25 AM EST.
November 2026:

Void-of-course Moon Table: Dates & Times for November 2026
Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
It’s important to note that there are more factors to consider in addition to the windows listed below. The following windows are starting points. For example, you generally don’t want to elect a new venture when a very challenging aspect is applying, and it’s preferable to elect a time when a particularly positive aspect hasn’t yet perfected (is applying rather than separating).
The Moon is waning this week only until the New Moon on the 9th, which is thought to be less ideal for new beginnings, although with exceptions. After the New Moon on the 9th, the Moon is waxing, a period that’s considered generally better for new beginnings, but also with exceptions.
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs this week from Tuesday, November 10th, at approximately 10 PM EST, until Thursday, November 12th, at approximately 6:25 AM EST, while the Moon is in Sagittarius.

NOVEMBER 8
Mercury’s creative aspect with Jupiter today can have us focusing on intellectual interests and problem-solving, which can be especially successful. It’s a subtle energy, but it’s good for rounding out our thinking. The Moon spends the day in Scorpio, aligning with retrograde Mercury this morning. Although it’s hard to see our path forward on this day before a New Moon, our discomfort with the past can feel very real now, motivating new beginnings later. In fact, a New Moon will occur in Scorpio very early tomorrow. Today, it may be best to wind down, reflect, muse, and tie up loose ends rather than push ahead with fresh starts. Ideally, we get a chance to recalibrate.
NOVEMBER 9
The New Moon occurs early today, at 2:02 AM EST, in the sign of Scorpio. We’re encouraged to step out of our comfort zone and welcome new ways to live, heal, and transform. It’s a time for taking a good look at what we may have chosen to sweep under the carpet. Taking time to understand others’ motives can enrich our feelings of intimacy, forgiveness, and meaning. We might use this cycle to focus on and develop one special project or relationship to help add purposefulness and depth to our lives. It can also be a time to seek ways to release our fear of confrontations and heavy emotional situations. We’re discovering that although they may be uncomfortable, these situations can lead us toward psychological healing. We’re receiving a strong prompt to approach our intimate relationships, power dynamics, shared resources, and dependencies in new and improved ways.
This New Moon widely aligns with retrograde Mercury and widely squares the Mars-Jupiter alignment in Leo, and we may be looking to drum up support from others and find motivation within ourselves to accomplish our goals. However, we might struggle with a concurrent desire to be more aboveboard or direct instead of strategic.
Later today, we head toward a Venus-Mars sextile, which supports flow and ease in close personal interactions without sacrificing engagement. We can make connections that prove fruitful and fortunate, and business relationships and pursuits can prosper. However, because Venus is still retrograde until the 13th, it’s best to wait to formalize any new ventures. Fortunately, we’re likely to find creative, even inventive, channels for connecting with our feelings.
The Moon is void from 6:26 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Sagittarius tomorrow, Tuesday, November 10th, at 3:36 AM EST.
NOVEMBER 10
The Moon is void today until it enters Sagittarius at 3:36 AM EST.
NOVEMBER 11
NOVEMBER 12
The Moon is void from 6:30 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Capricorn at 3:28 PM EST.
NOVEMBER 13
NOVEMBER 14
The Moon is void from 1:56 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Venus), until the Moon enters Aquarius the next day, Sunday, November 15th, at 4:25 AM EST.

THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Scorpio Who owes what, who owns what, and who decides these things: these are some of the major issues for you at the dawn of the cycle that now begins in your life. The only thing we really own is our consciousness; the only master who is never overthrown is oneself. These are lessons best learned early in this cycle. Master them, and you master everything. Dodge these issues, and the great strength that could be yours will remain just out of reach. Understanding inner motivations, seeing through to the core: that’s your real path of power and enlightenment now.
Mercury in Scorpio A pronounced curiosity about taboos and mysteries plays a greater part in your life now. Your mind is on cutting through the nonessentials and penetrating to the core is where your mind is at now; you want to know who (or what) pulls the strings. Sex, taxes, investments, and others of life’s most compelling phenomena may captivate your interest more than ever before.
Mars in Leo The thrill of the chase, the smell of the greasepaint, the roar of the crowd: that’s what gets your juices flowing now that you’ve entered a new cycle. To be appreciated, to be admired (adored, even) – that’s what you crave. It’s a time of creativity, drama, and passion; a time when grabbing the spotlight and stealing the scene gives you a thrill. Is winning everything? No – but it’s way ahead of whatever comes in second!
Jupiter in Leo High drama, big romance, a creative bonanza: this is the stuff dreams are made of now. The world is your stage, the spotlight is your goal, and the love and appreciation of others is the air you breathe. Children, lovers, admirers: these are the people who figure large in your life as this cycle progresses. A willingness to gamble on the future.
Saturn in Aries Self-discipline and a sense of self-worth become important issues in your life as a new phase begins for you. A fear of asserting yourself can hold you back – as can coming on too strong. The trick is learning to make the most of your personal talents and abilities, working within your limitations instead of feeling hemmed in by them.
Uranus in Gemini New ideas, new input, and new ways of exchanging these things with others – all these and more become increasingly important factor in your life now, as you enter into a new phase. This is a period of enhanced mental activity, a nonstop stream of consciousness, of trying out new concepts and perspectives.
Neptune in Aries The frontier spirit is alive and well as a new cycle dawns in your life. Independence and originality take on a kind of primal importance for you; you tend to put these qualities on a pedestal, above all else. Fresh starts, new possibilities … these are the visions that light a spark in your soul. But what of the weak, the ones who aren’t free, the ones who get left behind?
Pluto in Aquarius Reform, revolution, a rejection of the past and a focus on the future: these are the signatures of the new phase now beginning in your life. Tradition becomes irrelevant, and the conventional wisdom is revealed as dogma or outright nonsense – and what’s the difference, really? Radical changes in all things social and intellectual.
