The FIRST QUARTER MOON occurs on Saturday, November 9th, 2024, at 12:55 AM EST.
Early Saturday, the First Quarter Moon is exact, when the Sun in Scorpio forms a square with the Moon in Aquarius.
There is a crisis theme surrounding any quarter Moon phase, as we feel compelled to take action. Shortly after, we are made aware of how our actions affect those close to us, perhaps through trial and error. Whatever project or initiative we began around the New Moon is now off the ground, and it may face its first obstacles.
A First Quarter Moon can be a time of some stress, clashing, and discord, but also of great energy, motivation, and growth. We’re more ambitious and competitive. Things are beginning to take off or turn a corner. This is a time when we want to get something going, but we may not yet know the next step or the exact direction we want to take.
While we should probably watch for overconfidence or overshooting, it’s a good idea to use the stress generated now to make important changes.
The First Quarter Moon Chart:
This phase of the Moon occurs at 17 degrees and 20 minutes of Aquarius square the Sun in the same degree of Scorpio, affecting planets at approximately 15 to 19 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) the most.

This week: The Sun is in Scorpio; Mercury is in Sagittarius; Venus is in Sagittarius until the 11th, when Venus is in Capricorn; Mars is in Cancer until November 3rd, when Mars enters Leo.
The Sun is in Scorpio from October 22-November 21. The guiding principle of Scorpio is “I desire.” Scorpio is the sign of depth, intimacy, and extremes of feeling. Superficiality simply will not do with the Sun in Scorpio–we want to get to the bottom of matters. Mediocrity does not satisfy either. All that is hidden, taboo, secret, or suppressed interests us. In Libra, we strived towards equality and fairness. Scorpio, however, instinctively believes that life simply isn’t fair.
Scorpio’s energy is provocative, usually in a quiet way, as well as passionate, strong-willed, and intense. It can be an immensely healing and transformative energy. Jealousy, vindictiveness, beating a dead horse, and manipulative are some of the more negative expressions of Scorpio.
We are more likely to prosper through strategy and knowing the value of keeping some things to ourselves at the right times. Efforts to repurpose, recycle, salvage, and transform can be successful. We’re especially successful at organizing, researching, investigating, and analyzing.
While we can be quite controlled with effort, there is some inclination to extremism. We can be drawn to challenges and crises, and we feel compelled to heal, fix, and direct or manage.
Mercury is in Sagittarius from November 2, 2024-January 8, 2025 [Lengthier than usual due to a Mercury retrograde cycle that occurs entirely in the sign of Sagittarius from November 25th to December 15th]. When Mercury is in Sagittarius, our thinking shifts from a need to plumb the depths of any given situation to the desire to learn about a wide range of topics. We seek ideals, our thinking is more optimistic, and our faith increases. We are more equipped to believe and to persuade. What is fair and unfair concerns us most now. However, we are not always very precise under this influence.
We’re more inclined to ask questions and seek answers during this forward-looking cycle. We might often wax philosophical, and we enjoy wrapping our minds around new concepts and ideas. Still, the details are not as interesting to us now, as we prefer to envision the big picture.
On the downside, we can be inconsistent and lack attention to details. While frank and open, we can also be tactless during this period. We’re generous with our communications and input, and we’re humorous and friendly at this time.
Venus is in Sagittarius from October 17-November 11. Moving from Scorpio to Sagittarius, romantic energy shifts from intense to buoyant. Sagittarius, of course, has its intense moments, considering it is a fire sign. However, its energy is considerably less focused; and, while Scorpio is most concerned with intimacy with a specific person, Sagittarius’ love is of a more universal kind.
Romantic adventures and a straightforward–even blunt–approach to love are on the agenda. Gone are the intricacy and complexity of Venus in Scorpio. Truth and higher meaning are the priorities with Venus in Sagittarius.
We’re idealistic in our relationships during this cycle. It’s more critical than usual that our partners and companions support our dreams, goals, freedom needs, beliefs, and vision. We value intellectual rapport more than usual during this period.
Openness with our feelings can sometimes backfire, but for the most part, it can be refreshing. We tend to more spontaneously enjoy ourselves or throw ourselves into pleasure, art, cultural interests, and special interest topics at this time. We can especially enjoy travel, learning, the outdoors, or animals.
With money, we can be a little reckless or careless, but also faithful and optimistic. Some element of luck or good karma can be involved with our finances. Benefits, whether material or spiritual, can come through publishing, foreign or religious connections, travel, education, or legal matters.
Venus is in Capricorn from November 11- December 7. Getting serious about our finances and boosting our relations with business partners and/or co-workers will be easier than usual under this influence. Our talents for creating artistic structure and form are enhanced, and our ability to form connections with people who support our ambitions increases.
We value enduring connections, reliability, and faithfulness. We take expressing our feelings seriously, and we take our time to warm up to others. We generally keep our “cool” in relationships. We’re steadfast and seek genuine, perhaps old-fashioned connections. It’s not a time for PDA, and we can be somewhat guarded and reserved with expressing our feelings or revealing our relationships.
The underdog who works hard can have their time in the sun now. We value slow and steady effort and long-term prospects. Reliability in others is most attractive.
This cycle favors getting along well with higher-ups, conservative business goals and ventures, long-term investments, and matters related to pension.
Mars is in Cancer from September 4-November 3, 2024, and then January 6-April 18, 2025. [Why so long and in two steps? Mars transits the full sign of Cancer from September 4th to November 3rd, when it moves on to Leo, but then turns retrograde in Leo on December 6th, 2024. While retrograde, Mars later returns to Cancer (on January 6th, 2025). Mars ends its retrograde on February 23rd, and later completes its transit of Cancer on April 18th, 2025.] We pursue our interests ardently, but we avoid a direct approach to going after we want while Mars transits Cancer. As well, our goals and plans are subject to mood swings and vacillations. We are defensive rather than overtly aggressive. Much of what we do depends on our current mood of the moment.
We’re also very intuitive and can be moved to take action to bring peace or comfort and safety to our lives during this period. We go to bat for our loved ones. In fact, we’re fiercely protective. It’s a powerful period for putting ego matters aside so that we can push our plans forward. Inner satisfaction and love are generally more important to us than outer achievements at this time. Personal and domestic goals are our priority during this phase.
Mars is in Leo from November 3, 2024, to January 6, 2025, and then April 18-June 17, 2025. [Why so long and in two steps? Mars transits Leo, but then turns retrograde on December 6th, 2024. While retrograde, Mars returns to Cancer (on January 6th, 2025). Mars turns direct on February 23rd and then enters Leo again on April 18th.] In Leo, Mars is proud, self-confident, and grand. We are spirited and have grand goals. We go after what we want in a direct, self-assured manner, desiring dramatic results. We prefer not to worry about details, and take the least complicated route to our goals. The sex drive is strong, and passion for life is high.
Mars in Leo can awaken a competitive spirit or drive. We’re more willing to take risks to get what we want. We also tend to make a splash, and we want to be in the driver’s seat. This transit is passionate, ardent, and dramatic. We seek to appear strong and prefer to be in the lead or the center of attention. We can be particularly angry if we feel disrespected or in an undignified position.
Jupiter is in Gemini.
Jupiter began its transit of Gemini on May 24th, 2024, and continues its transit of the sign until June 9th, 2025. Read more about Jupiter’s transit of Gemini.
Saturn transits Pisces from March 7th, 2023 until May 24th, 2025, and Sep 1st, 2025, to Feb 13th, 2026. Read about Saturn’s transit of Pisces. Saturn will enter Aries on May 24th, 2025.
Uranus is in Taurus.
Uranus transits Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and then from March 6th, 2019, until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. Above all, we’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle.
There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. In general, we’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money, are likely. Our income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Pluto transitions from Capricorn to Aquarius in 2023 and 2024. Read about Pluto’s transit of Aquarius. Pluto retrograded back into Capricorn, and was in Capricorn until January 20th, 2024. Pluto was in Aquarius from January 20th to September 1st, when it retreated into Capricorn once again. Note: Pluto is slow-moving through the zodiac signs!
Note that Pluto is now in Capricorn for the final journey through the sign from September 1st to November 19th, 2024, from which time Pluto stays in Aquarius for many years to come.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Sagittarius from October 17-November 11. As Venus moves from Scorpio to Sagittarius, romantic energy changes from intense to buoyant. Gone are the intricacy and complexity of the Venus-in-Scorpio phase. Truth and higher meaning are focal points for Sagittarius.
Venus in Sagittarius is forward-looking, not very specific, outgoing, and energetic. Freedom is most important in our love relationships now. We take a happy and enthusiastic approach to love, and we might find too much intensity or seriousness depressing. We have a taste for the exotic as well as for adventure with Venus in Sagittarius.
This position’s shadow side is restlessness, the inability to “settle down,” and endless searching for something bigger and “better.”
Venus is in Capricorn from November 11-December 7. Venus in Capricorn is a cycle in which security and stability in our relationships are paramount. We are more cautious with our emotions and somewhat skeptical of both our own feelings and others’ expressions of affection. Longevity is important to us under this influence.
There is a formality to Capricorn that can make personal expressions seem awkward and forced. However, this cycle offers us the opportunity to consider some of the practical issues of our relations and to work on making our partnerships work in the real world. A dose of realism in our personal lives can help us to feel more grounded and secure in the long run.
This week: On Sunday, we might watch for impulsiveness and impatience. Someone may be pushy or crude when we crave something more refined or subtle, or someone is being subtle when we crave a more straightforward approach.
Monday can bring an impasse or obstacle. There can be a checkpoint moment for our relationships. Temporarily, we fear the worst and see the flaws. There can be some emotional distance or blockage, and ideally, it’s a time for reaching a new level of maturity and realism in your relationships. Relationship goals can very much clash with social life goals now.
On Wednesday, we should watch for drama or exaggeration that is destructive. We may be swinging from seeing the best and the worst. Fears of having the rug pulled from under our feet in our relationships can be stimulated now.
On Saturday, we may go overboard as we seek more meaning or new horizons. Watch for overcommitting or overstating. We’re easily bored with anything mundane or normal, and as a result, we’re inclined to dramatize our lives. We’re hungry for more, but possibly insatiable, in the love department. It’s possible that we overstate our feelings if we temporarily overvalue someone, or we face challenges in our relationships due to high expectations.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Sagittarius A yearning for adventure and far horizons stirs in you now. To roam, to wander and wonder, to seek freedom and go where no one has gone before – these things are deep and powerful longings. A time of romantic crusades, a universal love that might not be too particular.
Venus in Capricorn Marry for money and then learn to love ’em: that’s what your heart tells you now, as a new cycle gets underway in your life. Does that sound cynical? Maybe so – but it does reflect the yearning you feel for security and stability now, and it suggests the kind of compromises you may be willing to make to accomplish these objectives.
Venus semi-square Pluto October 29. Tendencies to look for something wrong in a relationship. Jealousy raises its head.
Venus opposite Jupiter November 2-3. We are easily bored with the everyday responsibilities and routines of our love lives, and are now inclined to dramatize our lives. As a result, our love natures are strong, but insatiable. We may overstate our feelings as we temporarily overvalue someone; or we face challenges in our relationships due to overblown expectations. We are itching for adventure and fun, but the wisest course of action is to avoid ignoring our responsibilities (and reality) in our efforts towards self-gratification.
Venus trine Chiron November 2-3. A commitment-friendly transit. Love can heal old wounds. We are open to romantic feelings.
Venus quincunx Uranus November 7. Impulsive spending, peculiar attractions, fear of commitment, freedom vs. intimacy issues. We might question whether we need more excitement in our relationships, or whether we need freedom from them; yet we don’t feel confident enough to rock the boat.
Venus square Neptune November 8-9. Relationship ups and downs characterize this transit–a time when romantic mirages are more than likely. We see what we hope to see, rather than what really is. The “highs” of a relationship begun under this energy may be thrilling, but the accompanying “lows” are bound to set in, and they can be extremely draining. Be careful not to set yourself up for disappointment.
Venus quincunx Mars November 13-14. When we attempt to be friendly, we seem to miss the mark. Attempting to satisfy romantic needs and assertive/sexual needs simultaneously can be challenging. Our romantic sensibilities and our desires are at odds with one another, and problems (especially misunderstandings) in romantic and sexual relationships may result. This is a less-than-ideal transit under which to begin a new relationship.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects.
The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart to determine the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass.
The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Sunday, November 3rd, from 12:51 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Pluto), until the Moon enters Sagittarius at 1:19 AM EDT.
VOC Moon on Tuesday, November 5th, from 5:24 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Neptune), until the Moon enters Capricorn at 10:18 AM EST.
VOC Moon on Thursday, November 7th, from 5:38 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Pluto), until the Moon enters Aquarius at 5:58 PM EST.
VOC Moon on Saturday, November 9th, from 7:24 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Venus), until the Moon enters Pisces at 11:01 PM EST.
November 2024:
Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
It’s important to note that there are more factors to consider in addition to the windows listed below. The following windows are starting points. For example, you generally don’t want to elect a new venture when a very challenging aspect is applying, and it’s preferable to elect a time when a particularly positive aspect hasn’t yet perfected (is applying rather than separating).
The Moon is waxing this week, which is generally considered favorable for new beginnings, although with some exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details).
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs this week from Saturday, November 2nd, at approximately 6:10 PM EDT, until Sunday, November 3rd, at approximately 12:45 AM EDT, while the Moon is in Scorpio.
Another window of opportunity on Saturday, November 9th, from approximately 4:20 PM to 7:20 PM EST, while the Moon is in Aquarius.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Mars opposition Pluto. Power struggles, “all or nothing” energy, the desire to force one’s agenda meets with opposition and resistance. Do what you can to avoid a contest of wills. The desire to get the upper hand is strong, but it’s unlikely to happen under this influence. It would be wise to observe whatever powerful feelings that confrontations or conflicts arouse under this influence, as this transit has a way of pulling out suppressed matter, or emotional “slush”. Passions run high, and so does sexual energy.
Venus opposition Jupiter. The love nature is strong, but given to extremes. Over-inflated expectations and the tendency to overstate our affections are things to watch out for. We may overvalue something (or someone), perhaps in order to add more drama to our lives, or to feel bigger than life. We are sociable, in the mood to party, dramatic, extravagant, and inclined to overindulge as a result of this inner discontent and desire for more from life than daily routines.
Venus trine Chiron. We have the chance to heal our personal relationships now, as we are more open to intimacy and commitment, as well as learning from one another. We more easily see beauty in human weaknesses, and are less inclined to see fault, or to concern ourselves with fault. It’s a strong time for building trust in relationships, and for seeing potential in one another.
Sun sesquiquadrate Neptune. Our willpower is low as we stray from our goals and temporarily lose focus. It’s difficult to formulate — or stick to — clear goals during this transit. Concentrating on artistic or spiritual pursuits is better than focusing on matters that require straightforward, factual thinking today. It can be difficult knowing where or how to direct our willpower under this influence. It’s also a challenge knowing where we stand with others. Avoid such things as scheduling surgery, important appointments, job interviews, or launches of new projects at this time.
Sun trine Saturn. We feel grounded and stable. It’s easy to stick to a specific task and make headway. Productivity may be slow, but it’s steady. We have common sense at our disposal. We are willing to look reality in the eye and to take responsibility for our lives.
Mercury sesquiquadrate Chiron. Communications may be careless, hurtful or perceived as hurtful under this influence. It can be hard to read the intention behind the words used to communicate now. There may be impatience with rules, worry or guilty feelings, and conflicting viewpoints now.
Venus quincunx Uranus. Impulsive spending, peculiar attractions, fear of commitment, and freedom vs. intimacy issues may be themes now. We might question whether we need more excitement in our relationships (or leisure activities), or whether we need freedom from them; yet we don’t feel confident enough to rock the boat.
Venus square Neptune. Relationship ups and downs characterize this transit – a time when romantic mirages are more than likely. We see what we hope to see, rather than what really is. The “highs” of a relationship begun under this energy may be thrilling, but the accompanying “lows” are bound to set in, and they can be extremely draining. Be careful not to set yourself up for disappointment. The same goes for finances – what appears to be a great buy is likely to turn out to be a financial drain or money pit. Lines can blur when it comes to pursuit of pleasure, as we can convince ourselves to believe what we want to believe.

NOVEMBER 3
Two oppositions occur this morning. Mars opposite Pluto brings intense energy that tests our limits. Matters of trust can reach breaking or turning points. It can be a time of retaliations, confronting betrayals, struggles for control or power, and overcoming obstacles. We should watch for succumbing to unhealthy impulses or wanting to get our way at all costs. Pushiness tends to meet with stubborn resistance now–there may be a contest of wills. There can be a feeling that external circumstances are undermining our personal power. As we deal with these things, we may get in touch with our internal motivations. Outside forces can remind us of our need to take better charge of our lives, but shortcuts to gaining control will not work as we’d like. This transit can bring a tricky or buried issue to a head. It would be wise to observe whatever powerful feelings that confrontations or conflicts stir under this influence, as this transit has a way of pulling out suppressed matter or emotional “slush.” All in all, much frustrated energy may lead to a greater understanding if we play our cards right.
The other opposition is between Venus and Jupiter, which is much lighter energy but can also create tensions. We’re seeking something different or something more, particularly with our pleasures, love, or money matters. However, over-inflated expectations and the tendency to overstate our affections or overvalue things can play with our happiness. Inner discontent and desire for more from life than daily routines can figure strongly. The urge to experience something new or more freedom to explore can express itself as restlessness if we don’t know what we want. This is a better time to make minor adjustments to help free ourselves up for different experiences than it is for big moves, as much as we may want to go over the top. It’s “borrow from the future” energy, and we should be careful not to commit to something for which we don’t yet have the resources.
Venus also forms a trine with Chiron, helping us process, harmonize, and turn our struggles into opportunities to better understand ourselves and others. With this transit, we’re prepared to learn from our fears and insecurities. We may get a chance to heal our relationships through openness to learning from one another. It’s a vital time for building trust in relationships and seeing potential in one another–we more readily see the beauty in human imperfection. We also recognize the value of the people, relationships, and pleasures in our lives more clearly. Interacting with others in fresh ways–with more authenticity and sincerity–can benefit us now.
Mars enters Leo tonight. It will transit the sign in two steps due to an upcoming retrograde cycle: the first is from today until January 6th, 2025, and the second step will be from April 18th to June 17th, 2025. This transit draws out our proud, self-confident, and grand side. We go after what we want directly and self-assuredly during this cycle, desiring dramatic results. We prefer not to worry about details and seek the most straightforward route to our goals. This cycle encourages our spirited, courageous, and ardent natures–our passion for life runs high. Mars will turn retrograde in the sign on December 6th, which can change the energy of this transit considerably.
The Moon is void from 12:51 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Pluto), until the Moon enters Sagittarius at 1:19 AM EDT.
NOVEMBER 4
With a Sun-Neptune minor square early today, we can have difficulty focusing on or even defining our goals. We may struggle with waning willpower or some lack of direction. It makes sense to consider ways to come to a better balance between our material and spiritual pursuits. This comes naturally as the day advances with a Sun-Saturn trine, an influence that supports moderation. We are especially aware of our limitations and willing to accept them. Enjoyment of our duties or obligations can be the focus. This trine occurs in Water signs, and we can feel particularly empowered managing emotional matters in practical, helpful ways. With this transit, we readily draw upon self-discipline. We can enjoy a real sense of strength and pride in our ability to meet our responsibilities.
NOVEMBER 5
The Moon continues to transit Sagittarius until 10:18 AM EST, after which it moves through Capricorn, and we’re more interested in results than experience. This is a powerful period for unique, helpful ideas, although we’re inclined to go over the top before reaching a balance. Importantly, we’re willing to make changes, especially in our attitudes. Conversations are mutually beneficial, healing, and inspiring. With Mercury and Pluto parallel today, getting to the bottom of a matter can motivate us. As well, Mercury and Vesta approach a sextile, and we are willing to put in the effort for a mental interest or project, feeling pleasantly dedicated to our work or ideas.
The Moon is void from 5:24 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Neptune), until the Moon enters Capricorn at 10:18 AM EST.
NOVEMBER 6
The Capricorn Moon harmonizes with Saturn and the Sun today, and we are cautious and draw upon common sense when making decisions. We pay special attention to structures, rules, and goals, especially around the Moon-Saturn sextile. The Moon in Capricorn is astute and security-oriented. Mercury forms a minor square to Chiron, and insecurity might make it awkward for us to express ourselves naturally or flowingly this morning. With Mercury’s trine to the North Node, we might connect with information or people that/who encourage us to grow, improve, or move forward. These energies help ground us but also keep us open to new methods and possibilities.
NOVEMBER 7
The Moon continues its transit of Capricorn until 5:58 PM EST when it moves into Aquarius. Friends, community, groups, causes, and happiness goals can be in stronger focus with the Aquarius Moon. Today’s Venus-Mars biquintile is excellent for relating well and smoothly. It’s also strong for seeing relating patterns and using them positively to encourage creativity and excitement. However, a Venus-Uranus quincunx this evening can bring themes of impulsive spending, peculiar attractions, fear of commitment, and freedom vs. intimacy issues. We might question whether we need more excitement in our relationships or freedom from them, yet we don’t feel confident enough to rock the boat. Taming rebelliousness makes sense now. The Moon-Mars opposition excites our passions, although we may feel less in control of them than usual. It stirs up our need for action, activity, and challenges, but it can feel at odds with our emotional orientation.
The Moon is void from 5:38 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Pluto), until the Moon enters Aquarius at 5:58 PM EST.
NOVEMBER 8
With the Moon in Aquarius all day, we aim to be fair and supportive while maintaining our independence. This transit encourages us to seek intellectual stimulation and unusual or unconventional experiences. The Aquarius Moon is earnest, friendly, and principled—our interest in our social life, new ideas, and progressive change increases. The Moon’s harmony with Mercury encourages a conversational approach to one another. We’re more intellectual today, and we strive toward greater honesty and a broader viewpoint. Our idealism runs high today, and we’re bringing more imagination to our mental pursuits.
NOVEMBER 9
The First Quarter Moon is exact at 12:55 AM EST, with the Sun in Scorpio square to the Moon in Aquarius. A crisis theme surrounds any quarter Moon phase as we feel compelled to take action. There can be some trial and error or tension to manage now, although it can also help motivate us to make a move! Recent new beginnings may face their first obstacles. Tensions run high. Venus forms a square to Neptune, casting a veil over our needs, wants, and perceptions. We may be dreaming up the ideal, which can clash with reality. We can lack some discrimination, particularly regarding people we care about, our relationships, and material things. We should aim to separate fact from fiction to avoid setting ourselves up for disappointment. What appears to be a great buy or something we need may turn out to be useless to us, or worse, a financial drain or money pit. Lines can blur when it comes to pursuing pleasure, as we can convince ourselves to believe what we want to think. We’re likely too close to the situation! Examining discontent experienced now may be an opportunity to identify where we’ve neglected our spiritual, idealistic, romantic, or imaginative needs.
The Moon is void from 7:23 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Venus), until the Moon enters Pisces at 11:01 PM EST.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Scorpio
Intensity is what the Moon in Scorpio is all about. Whether it's passion, elation, sorrow, or desire, emotions are felt on a deeply personal level. We are motivated by the desire to get to the bottom of things, and we instinctively read between the lines. Superficiality won't work for us now. The Moon in Scorpio urges us to uncover our own power, and it's an excellent time to rid ourselves of old fears and limiting habits. It can be an intimate and passionate time. Avoid manipulative tactics, brooding, and suspiciousness.
The Moon in Scorpio generally favors the following activities: Taxes, accounting, intimacy issues, psychological examinations, research, self-examination, getting rid of old things.
When the Moon is in Sagittarius
The Moon is at her most optimistic and upbeat in Sagittarius. We are motivated by a need to seek the truth, and we are ready to pursue a new vision. We are not interested in details just now. Instead, we focus on the big picture. New experiences and adventures satisfy a deep emotional need. Spontaneity is the key. We may also be inclined toward overdoing and overstating. We don't want to plan ahead, and prefer to "wing it".
The Moon in Sagittarius generally favors the following activities: Adventurous activities that involve "winging it", travel, higher education, starting publishing projects, advertising, sports, physical activity.
When the Moon is in Capricorn
We become aware of the need for structure and planning ahead. We also instinctively are aware of the limitations of time. We are motivated by a desire for success. Achievement and manifestation are most important to us now. We are resourceful and don't want to waste time, energy, or resources. This can be a very sober influence--even a depressing one. However, it can also be a productive time when we look reality in the eye.
The Moon in Capricorn generally favors the following activities: Long-term activities that yield slow but steady results, practical undertakings, career issues, making a business plan, practical investments.
When the Moon is in Aquarius
Attraction to all that is new and unusual, and an instinctive need for improvement, characterize the Moon in Aquarius. Reactions are more intellectual than emotional, and interactions are more impersonal than personal, under this influence. This is a time that promotes social gatherings, dealing with group ideals and goals for the future, brainstorming, new ideas, and progressive changes. We are open to new methods of doing things and we have our eye on the future. It can be hard to stick to schedules now, as personal freedom is most important to us.
The Moon in Aquarius generally favors the following activities: Unusual or radical undertakings, social pursuits, group projects, trying something new, joining a group.
When the Moon is in Pisces
We may not want to face reality while the Moon is in dreamy, impressionable Pisces. It can be a wistful, sensitive, intuitive, and compassionate time. We are especially imaginative, and our intuition reigns under this influence. Boundaries and walls come down, as Pisces energy merges and blends. It's a time when details are overlooked and feelings defy description.
The Moon in Pisces generally favors the following activities: Imaginative undertakings, mystical or spiritual pursuits, inner development, music and drama, going on a retreat, activities involving water.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Scorpio Who owes what, who owns what, and who decides these things: these are some of the major issues for you at the dawn of the cycle that now begins in your life. The only thing we really own is our consciousness; the only master who is never overthrown is oneself. These are lessons best learned early in this cycle. Master them, and you master everything. Dodge these issues, and the great strength that could be yours will remain just out of reach. Understanding inner motivations, seeing through to the core: that’s your real path of power and enlightenment now.
Mercury in Sagittarius A time of expanding your mental horizons is at hand. Religion, philosophy, law, and education are some of the things that may have special importance for you now. Being in touch with faraway people and places satisfies an intellectual yearning – curiosity will take you anywhere and maybe everywhere.
Mars in Cancer Defensive, aren’t we? With this new cycle getting underway, protecting and preserving you and yours takes on a higher than usual priority. A sensitivity to the needs and wants of others and an appreciation for their frailties (as well as your own) makes you more cautious and conservative … you pick your battles with care.
Mars in Leo The thrill of the chase, the smell of the greasepaint, the roar of the crowd: that’s what gets your juices flowing now that you’ve entered a new cycle. To be appreciated, to be admired (adored, even) – that’s what you crave. It’s a time of creativity, drama, and passion; a time when grabbing the spotlight and stealing the scene gives you a thrill. Is winning everything? No – but it’s way ahead of whatever comes in second!
Jupiter in Gemini Facilitating the transfer of ideas and information takes on a special priority for you now. Writing, studying, and communicating play a bigger role in your life as a result. The belief that well-informed people will make the right decisions becomes an article of faith. Just remember: sometimes people know the right thing to do and STILL do something different!
Saturn in Pisces Making peace with the past, coming to terms with karmic debts: these are some of the issues that confront you as a new phase begins in your life. Failure to face these things can cause setbacks and put obstacles in your path. Learn to look beyond the narrowly personal and selfish or you’ll get in over your head.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small, but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone and everyone in their place…
