The Full MOON occurs on Sunday, May 31st, 2026, at 4:45 AM EDT.

On the morning of the 31st, the Full Moon occurs as the Sun in Gemini opposes the Moon in Sagittarius. A time of culmination, the Full Moon promises to fulfill what we started at the New Moon. It’s an emotional time—a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.

During this Full Moon, we have the opportunity to become more fully aware of what has been lacking or missing in our lives. This is a time for personal growth, particularly in terms of learning, adventure, spirited living, communicating, sharing, and commuting.

The Gemini-Sagittarius polarity is a mental axis, where Gemini represents the “lower mind” and Sagittarius represents the “higher mind.” The Gemini Sun encourages us to think logically, while the Sagittarius Moon persuades us to intuit and think more broadly. Sagittarius symbolizes the quest for meaning and ideas that expand upon the “here and now.” Gemini is comfortable in its immediate environment or neighborhood, while Sagittarius stirs us to venture beyond it.

It’s important to remember that neglecting either end of the axis will surely backfire on us. However, the Full Moon invites us to find a balance between the two energies, guiding us towards a harmonious state.

This Full Moon is about communication, attitude, and a sense of adventure. Something has been building inside of us, and now is when the energy of the cosmos fairly demands that we let it out. Over the next two weeks, we will discover what this means for us. For now, we can’t sit on our feelings–we need to express them.

The lunation illuminates this conflict between logic and intuition/faith. With the Moon full and bright in the sky, symbolic “illumination” occurs in our own lives. However, these new feelings and revelations are emotional ones, as there is a sense of emotions bursting forth into our consciousness. It’s time to express ourselves and to let things out of our systems.

Of course, we should exercise some care while doing so, knowing that what is coming out of us is fresh, unrefined, and not particularly rational as yet.

This Full Moon harmonizes with Pluto and Saturn, bringing a sense that if we put some effort, grit, and determination into our pursuits, we’ll get results. It’s a strong time for motivation and ambition. This lunation’s harmony with Juno helps us bring more finesse and style to our interactions.

This week: The Sun is in Gemini; Mercury is in Gemini until June 1st, when it enters Cancer; Venus is in Cancer; Mars is in Taurus.

The Sun is in Gemini from May 20-June 21. Knowledge and diversity motivate us with the Sun in Gemini. We are more sociable, intellectual, and insatiably curious under this influence. Due to this curiosity and awareness of all our options, we tend to scatter our energies. We are more communicative and versatile, but we can also be unreliable.

Gemini represents duality and mediation. Gemini’s energy is intelligent, optimistic, observant, and adaptable. It’s skeptical, ready to consider alternate ways of thinking. We’re prepared to trade, share, exchange, pass on news, teach, guide, and learn.

We gather information during the Sun-in-Gemini cycle, and we benefit from this transit’s objectivity. We’re quick-witted, cheerful, engaging, and we easily adapt, observe, and listen–it’s a clever and crafty influence.

On the downside, we can be gossipy, overly intellectual, or too rational when a softer touch would be more appropriate. As we relay and process information, we could be living too much in our heads, disconnected from what’s in our hearts.

Mercury is in Gemini from May 17-June 1. When Mercury is in Gemini, we are especially communicative, curious, and sociable. Mercury rules Gemini and feels right at home in the sign. We tend to take more pleasure in gaining a superficial knowledge of many subjects rather than dig deep into any one topic.

When it comes to making a point or debating, we are especially astute while Mercury is in Gemini. We are attracted to wordplays, puns, and negotiations, and we’re easily distracted. It’s a time when we’re more interested in trivia, information tidbits, and detached observations. There can be frequent changes of mind and subject. We’re flexible and quick to grasp topics.

Mercury is in Cancer from June 1-August 9 [a longer than usual transit due to Mercury’s retrograde from June 29th to July 23rd, entirely in the sign of Cancer]. When Mercury is in Cancer, we move from the desire for quantity with information to the need for quality. We think, speak, and take in information on a deeper, more instinctive level. We have less interest in what is universal and more interest in what affects us personally and the people close to us. Our thoughts are colored by our emotions, making it more challenging to be objective.

We have outstanding and detailed memories during this cycle. We’re more likely to absorb information about the emotional background or atmosphere/setting around us, picking up on moods and tones in addition to facts.

While we may not have great confidence in our ability to generate new or original ideas, we have a well-developed sense of humor and radiate warmth in our communications. We take great interest in (and notice of) personal issues and interactions during this period. We don’t care much for intellectual stands if they’re devoid of a personal or heartful element, and we need intimate settings to express ourselves fully.

Venus is in Cancer from May 18-June 13. In Cancer, Venus is nurturing, protective and self-protective, cautious, and fertile. We experience many emotional ups and downs in love under this influence due to our increased sensitivity and impressionability. We are tender, romantic, and attached. We could be clingy or sulky during this period.

Cancer love is dedicated, warm, and devoted. We show our love through our devotion, care, and concern. We are affectionate and cuddly, and are at our best when we feel safe and secure. We also want to make our loved ones feel safe and comfortable. It’s a good cycle for collecting and money related to real estate, accommodation, food, coins, silver, or antiques. We enjoy homey, familiar pastimes and art and simple pleasures.

Cautious with our feelings, we are not always confident about boldly trying or sharing new things during this cycle. However, we do whatever we can to make our loved ones feel special. Our memories are long, and we can be very sentimental.

Mars is in Taurus from May 18-June 28. During this cycle, we are determined, stubborn, and persistent. Mars in Taurus can be passive until provoked and is at its strongest when digging in its heels, outlasting, or defending something! In stark contrast to the impulsive Mars in Aries cycle, we tend to pursue our goals by plodding along patiently. We seek longevity and long-term satisfaction.

While Mars is in Taurus, we’re slow to change course or get started but persevering. Preferring methodical work over creative methods, we seek predictability and stability. We can be stubborn and resistant to change, and we’ll work the hardest for material security.

It’s not a time when we readily take risks. Instead, we seek concrete, long-lasting results. Our stamina is great, and our cravings and physical needs/desires are prominent, driving us towards our goals.

Romance & Relationships

Venus is in Cancer from May 18-June 13. We treat lovers with sympathy and tenderness, providing the emotional nurturing that they need. We tend to “play it safe” when it comes to relationships. Love and devotion are most important to us, and provide us with a sense of inner security. We seek a deep love in which we can merge souls and personalities with our lover. We are quite devoted to our partners, and we seek such devotion in return.

However, we could also become possessive, manipulative, and stifling. Familiarity is more important to us now. Our fear of rejection is overdeveloped, and we offer our hearts cautiously as a result. We pay more attention to our lovers’ feelings than their words. We feel threatened if a lover acts in an impersonal, overly independent, or detached manner. Safe and solid relationships are more appealing. Romantic and emotional hurts are very hard to forget.

In Cancer, Venus is nurturing, protective and self-protective, cautious, and fertile. We experience many emotional ups and downs in love under this influence due to increased sensitivity and impressionability. We are tender, romantic, and attached. Cancer love is dedicated, warm, and devoted. We show our love through our devotion, care, and concern. We are affectionate and cuddly, and are at our best when we feel safe and secure.

This week: Tuesday holds somewhat rebellious energy. We can be flighty with one another, unsure whether we want to be close to someone or free from ties temporarily.

 

Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:

Venus in Cancer Mothering (or being mothered), sympathy, a yearning to put down roots, and a fondness for things that have stood the test of time – these are some of the hallmarks of the phase that now begins in your life. Romantic and social experiences, as well as artistic tastes, will show evidence of these factors.

Venus square Saturn May 28. Feeling unsatisfied, isolated, and unloved. Personal relationships are likely to be strained as we express our affections cautiously and sparingly. If we believe we are not getting what we want in love, we attract negative situations and challenges in our relationships. This is not a good time to begin a new relationship–new ones begun now are likely to be stamped with themes of duty and restriction.

Venus semi-square Uranus June 2. Uncertainty about the desire to be close to someone. Freedom versus closeness. A desire to experiment in the romance department may be fleeting and ultimately unsatisfying or frustrating.

Venus parallel the Sun June 9. A strong desire for harmony and comfort fill us now. We may be moved to express our affections.

Venus contra-parallel Pluto June 9. Romantic intensity, a feeling of fatedness, possessiveness, fear of betrayal, and insecurity in relationships. Questions of trust can emerge in relationships. Looking for a commitment.

Venus conjunct Jupiter June 9. We have large appetites for love and pleasure, and generosity of spirit as well. An excellent time (all things considered) to begin a new relationship, or renew an old/existing one.

Venus square Chiron June 12-13. Not a commitment-friendly transit. We are somewhat fearful of investing ourselves emotionally in a relationship.

For example, you generally don’t want to elect a new venture when a very challenging aspect is applying, and it’s preferable to elect a time when a particularly positive aspect hasn’t yet perfected (is applying rather than separating).

The Moon is waxing this week only until the Full Moon on May 31st, which is generally favorable for new beginnings, but with some exceptions. From the Full Moon on the 31st onward, the Moon is waning, which is generally considered unfavorable for new beginnings, also with some exceptions.

According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs this week on May 31st from approximately 6:00 AM to 9:20 AM EDT, while the Moon is in Sagittarius. Note that this window is near a Full Moon, when emotions run high.

The next window will occur next week on May 8th, from approximately 7:05 AM to 8:35 PM EDT, while the Moon is in Pisces.

Mercury sextile Chiron. This is an excellent period for opening up communications with others, as we are more sensitive than usual and more willing to listen. Getting our point across is easier, as it’s not only about which words we choose to communicate, we intuitively express the meaning and intention behind the words. We can effectively use words to heal and comfort just now. We are also more open to new ways of looking at problems or at life in general.

Venus semi-square Uranus. Unusual attractions (to people and things) can have us acting on a whim. We may deal with freedom versus closeness issues in our relationships. Avoid impulse buys at this time, and hold off on decision-making with regards to finances. Some instability, restlessness, and rebelliousness is probable in romantic relationships. We may not see eye to eye with a loved one, and we could be taken off guard by unexpected events. This is not a favorable aspect for beauty treatments because they could have unexpected results.

Sun sextile Saturn. We feel grounded and stable. It’s easy to stick to a specific task and make headway. Productivity may be slow, but it’s steady. We are taking into account practical considerations and we are especially aware of the element of time. We are more able to discipline ourselves and put our egos aside in order to get the job done.

Mercury square Neptune. We find it hard to follow facts, directions, and instructions. Difficulties concentrating on hard, cold facts are likely; and we may question facts altogether or avoid being pinned down for answers. This is a bad time for signing on the dotted line. Perceptions are confused, unrealistic, or too idealistic to carry weight in the real world. Conversations may be vague.

Mercury quincunx Pluto. Something we write or say could trigger power struggles or hostility from others. We may be plagued with self-doubt in our attempts to make decisions. Decisions made now are unlikely to be objective. Re-assessing decisions we have made already, or adjusting our plans, may be in order. Second-guessing.

Sun semi-square Chiron. The desire to learn and grow through experiences and through others is strong, but may be hampered by a lack of confidence or a fear of being different.

The Gemini Sun encourages us to pay more attention to facts and logic, while the Sagittarius Moon persuades us to intuit and think more broadly. Sagittarius symbolizes the quest for meaning and ideas that expand upon the “here and now.” Gemini is comfortable in–and an expert on–its immediate environment or neighborhood, while Sagittarius stimulates us to venture beyond it. Neglecting either end of the axis will backfire–we’re best off seeking a balance.

This Full Moon is about communication, attitude, and a sense of adventure. The Sagittarius Full Moon is freeform and impulsive. It harmonizes with Pluto and Saturn, suggesting that if we put in some effort, grit, and determination, we’ll get results. It’s a strong time for motivation and ambition, as well as bringing more finesse and style to our interactions.

Today’s sextile between Mercury and Chiron is strong for opening healthy dialogues. We approach problems holistically, and our problem-solving skills are high. This transit brings subtle but enhancing energy for communications. As well, a Mercury-Pluto biquintile inclines us to pay special attention to a particular project or idea and to develop it further. We can be pleasantly dedicated or attentive. Also in play today is a Sun-Pallas sextile that improves our social relations, negotiations, and ability to compromise. We’re motivated to understand each other and our situations better.

JUNE 1

Mercury enters Cancer today, and will spend a longer time than usual in the sign, until August 9th. The extended stay is due to an upcoming retrograde cycle from June 29th to July 23rd. When Mercury is in Cancer, we seek quality over quantity with information. We think, speak, and take in information on a deep, intuitive level now. Our emotions color our thoughts more than usual. We communicate with more sensitivity, meaning, and care, and our memory is retentive during this cycle.

The Moon spends much of today in Sagittarius, however, which encourages us to be open and generous. With our grand optimism, we won’t allow obstacles to bring us down. We’re not inclined to dwell on the negative, though we can miss much if we overdo it to the point of avoidance. The Moon heads into Capricorn at 9:20 PM EDT, and we pay more attention to our practical priorities. We crave results, preferring to see the reality of any given situation. Even so, there can be some disconnect between our feelings and our intellect with the Moon’s opposition to Mercury tonight. Minor disagreements, mainly about sensitivity to feelings, are more likely now.

When the Moon is in Sagittarius

 The Moon is at her most optimistic and upbeat in Sagittarius. We are motivated by a need to seek the truth, and we are ready to pursue a new vision. We are not interested in details just now. Instead, we focus on the big picture. New experiences and adventures satisfy a deep emotional need. Spontaneity is the key. We may also be inclined toward overdoing and overstating. We don't want to plan ahead, and prefer to "wing it".

The Moon in Sagittarius generally favors the following activities: Adventurous activities that involve "winging it", travel, higher education, starting publishing projects, advertising, sports, physical activity.

When the Moon is in Capricorn

We become aware of the need for structure and planning ahead. We also instinctively are aware of the limitations of time. We are motivated by a desire for success. Achievement and manifestation are most important to us now. We are resourceful and don't want to waste time, energy, or resources. This can be a very sober influence--even a depressing one. However, it can also be a productive time when we look reality in the eye.

The Moon in Capricorn generally favors the following activities: Long-term activities that yield slow but steady results, practical undertakings, career issues, making a business plan, practical investments.

When the Moon is in Aquarius

Attraction to all that is new and unusual, and an instinctive need for improvement, characterize the Moon in Aquarius. Reactions are more intellectual than emotional, and interactions are more impersonal than personal, under this influence. This is a time that promotes social gatherings, dealing with group ideals and goals for the future, brainstorming, new ideas, and progressive changes. We are open to new methods of doing things and we have our eye on the future. It can be hard to stick to schedules now, as personal freedom is most important to us.

The Moon in Aquarius generally favors the following activities: Unusual or radical undertakings, social pursuits, group projects, trying something new, joining a group.

When the Moon is in Pisces

 We may not want to face reality while the Moon is in dreamy, impressionable Pisces. It can be a wistful, sensitive, intuitive, and compassionate time. We are especially imaginative, and our intuition reigns under this influence. Boundaries and walls come down, as Pisces energy merges and blends. It's a time when details are overlooked and feelings defy description.

The Moon in Pisces generally favors the following activities: Imaginative undertakings, mystical or spiritual pursuits, inner development, music and drama, going on a retreat, activities involving water.
