Last Quarter Moon
The Last Quarter MOON occurs on Monday, February 9th, 2026, at 7:43 AM EST.
The Last Quarter Moon is exact when the Sun in Aquarius forms a square with the Moon in Scorpio on Monday morning.
The Last Quarter Moon phase points to some sort of crisis of consciousness. After basking in the awareness symbolized by the full light of the Moon at the time of the recent Full Moon, we disperse our knowledge and come to a point when we need to sort out what works for us–and what doesn’t–in preparation for next week’s New Moon, when something new is born once again.
This is not the best time to start a major project, as the decreasing light of the Moon symbolizes a descent into unconsciousness. It’s time to begin finishing up the details of that which was conceived at the last New Moon. We might consider what our recent revelations mean to us, and what we might do as a result.
It’s better to review and sort than to push something new. Until the New Moon, we might take inventory, tie up loose ends, and let go if necessary.
The Last Quarter Moon Chart:
This phase of the Moon occurs at 20 degrees and 46 minutes of Scorpio, square the Sun at the same degree of Aquarius, and affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 19 to 23 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) most significantly.
NEXT WEEK: The next Moon phase will occur on Tuesday, February 17th, 2026, at 7:01 AM EST, when a New Moon Solar Eclipse will occur.

This week: The Sun is in Aquarius; Mercury is in Pisces; Venus is in Aquarius until the 10th, when Venus enters Pisces; Mars is in Aquarius.
The Sun is in Aquarius from January 19-February 18. During this cycle, we are motivated by our hunger for knowledge, experience, and originality. Innovation is more important to us than convention. We become more aware of what is outdated in our lives, and strive to find new perspectives and new ways to do things. The class distinctions, structure, and order that Capricorn finds appealing now seem to be too rigid. The freedom of the individual becomes far more significant to us. We strive to free ourselves from some of the restrictions, inhibitions, and limitations that now feel constraining rather than safe.
We recognize those things that are obsolete or outdated, and we’re ready to change the world with new ideas and methods. We might often let our heads rule over our hearts during this cycle, preferring an objective, impersonal, and rational approach to life.
Mercury is in Pisces from February 6-April 14. When Mercury is in Pisces, our thinking processes are more visual, intuitive, and imaginative. We are especially attuned to the world of emotion, which colors both our thoughts and our communication style.
We guess well, express ourselves with imagery, and make decisions intuitively. We are more attracted to consciousness-raising information.
It’s not always easy to verbalize our impressions during this cycle. We don’t enjoy pinning down, labeling, or strictly defining things. We recognize that life isn’t always logical, and we prefer not to think in black and white terms. We’re sensitive and impressionable, which means we can take in more than usual, and it can sometimes overwhelm us. Pisces needs periodic time alone or within to regenerate and detox.
Venus is in Aquarius from January 17-February 10. We move towards unconventionality, independence, and freedom as themes in our social relationships under this influence. Aquarius can be just as faithful as Capricorn, but it has to be on its own terms! Experimental relationships are more intriguing now.
Being friends as well as lovers is important to us during this cycle. Allowing one another freedom of expression, and treating others fairly, unselfishly, and impartially, are themes now.
We treat people as equals and take our friendships, causes, and interests seriously. We prize intellectual stimulation and companionship. Income boosts come through innovative ideas. We can remake traditions and approach things unconventionally. Being true to ourselves is of the utmost importance in our relationships. Venus-in-Aquarius is a friendly but aloof period.
Venus is in Pisces from February 10-March 6. Venus in Pisces is tender and affectionate, although hard to reach, as there is a longing for something that is difficult to define and hard to satisfy. Borders and boundaries blur under Venus in Pisces. The shadow side of this position is allowing ourselves to be deceived because we want to believe, as well as evasiveness. We should watch for falling in love with an idealized image of something or someone. It’s also important to watch for avoidant or indirect behavior.
Venus is exalted in Pisces and does well in the sign. It’s devoted, compassionate, exceptionally giving, and capable of sacrifice. We might refer heavily on our intuition with our finances and love life during this cycle. We gravitate to–and appreciate–unusual, tossed aside, poetic, artistic objects, situations, and people. We seek activities that move, inspire, or touch us.
Money may slip through our fingers, or we could ignore or overlook some of the practical elements of our lives now. However, finances improve if we connect with our otherworldly talents, imagination, desire to heal and serve, or sense of mission.
This transit is not particularly strong for resolve or determination, but it’s good for adaptability and increased understanding or acceptance.
Mars is in Aquarius from January 23-March 2. Dynamic yet erratic energy levels, achieving our goals through hit-or-miss tactics, and impersonal expressions of anger are characteristics of Mars in Aquarius. While we can be self-starters, we also believe in the team, cooperating, and reducing the emphasis on personal power.
During the Mars-in-Aquarius cycle, we are attracted to unconventional methods and tend to approach problems from an intellectual, detached perspective. We need space to get in touch with our own intuition and don’t appreciate being forced or coerced into going a certain way. This transit can be rebellious and obstinate if it feels constrained or labeled.
This is a cycle for inventing, reforming, and revolutionizing. We’re freeing ourselves from outdated patterns or traditions.

Jupiter is in Cancer.
Jupiter began its transit of Cancer on June 9th, 2025, and will continue its visit to the sign until June 30th, 2026. Read more about Jupiter’s transit of Cancer.

Saturn enters Aries this week on February 13th. Saturn was in Aries from May 24th, 2025 to September 1st, 2025, and will be in Aries again from February 13th, 2026, to April 12th, 2028. Read about Saturn’s transit of Aries. Saturn isn’t yet completely done with its transit of Pisces. Saturn transits Pisces from March 7th, 2023 until May 24th, 2025, and currently, from Sep 1st, 2025, to Feb 13th, 2026. Read about Saturn’s transit of Pisces.)

Uranus has returned to Taurus.
Uranus is in Gemini from July 7th to November 7th, 2025, from April 25, 2026, to August 3, 2032, and then from December 12, 2032, to May 22, 2033. Read about Uranus in Gemini in its calendar page.
Uranus has more work to do in the sign of Taurus from November 7th, 2025, to April 25th, 2026. Uranus began in Taurus in 2018/2019. During this cycle, we approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. Above all, we’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle.
There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. In general, we’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money, are likely. Our income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.

Neptune is in Aries. Neptune first transited Aries from March 30, 2025, to October 22, 2025, but it returned to Pisces. Now, Neptune is in Aries for the long haul: from January 26, 2026, to May 21, 2038, and then October 21, 2038, to March 23, 2039. Read about Neptune’s transit of Aries.

Pluto is in Aquarius. Read about Pluto’s transit of Aquarius. Note that Pluto finally completed its journey through Capricorn on November 19th, 2024, from which time Pluto stays in Aquarius for many years to come.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Aquarius from January 17-February 10. While Venus was in Capricorn, we valued enduring connections, reliability, and faithfulness. We took expressing our feelings seriously, and we also took our sweet time warming up to others! Generally, we kept our “cool” in relationships. With Venus now in Aquarius, we still keep our “cool” in relationships, but in a detached and impersonal sort of way. Unconventional set-ups become more appealing.
Bringing the spirit of friendship into romantic relationships is a positive use of Venus in Aquarius energy. Relationships that fairly scream “alternative” appeal to us now. It’s all about being open-minded and somewhat detached with Aquarius energy dominating the love arena. With Venus in Aquarius, it may be better to approach dating casually, with no expectations and no strings. Melodrama and emotionalism are not in favor. We may also find ourselves attracted to–or attracting–people who are not our usual “type.”
Venus is in Pisces from February 10-March 6. Like Aquarius, Pisces love is universal. However, Pisces draws no bounds in love. With Venus in Pisces, we have compassion (and perhaps attraction) for those who are left out, overlooked, or victimized. We are self-sacrificing, and we have a hard time setting up borders. The walls go down, we have a hard time saying no (especially if our compassion is engaged), but we are also prone to avoiding all that makes us feel uncomfortable.
Wishful thinking is one expression of Venus in Pisces. We can too easily believe what we want to believe. People can be hard to pin down, and love is hard to define under this influence. Pisces never sees the world in black-and-white terms. Rather, Pisces sees all the colors of the rainbow. With the goddess of love in Pisces, our love is all-embracing, we are able to forgive and understand, we are seducible and seductive, and we show compassion to our partners.
Venus in Pisces is tender and affectionate, although hard to reach nevertheless, as there is a longing for something that is hard to define and hard to satisfy. Borders and boundaries blur under Venus in Pisces. The shadow side of this position is allowing ourselves to be deluded, as well as evasiveness.
This week: On Sunday, we can be flighty with one another, unsure whether we want to be close to someone or free from ties temporarily. We can experience surprising revelations about our sense of independence. As well, we can be dodging commitments, preferring to keep our options open.
On Monday and Tuesday, we may feel that our quest for pleasure, affection, love, or comfort is at odds with our material goals and romantic ideals, which can lead to mild discontent. Seeking to fulfill these needs without doing so at the expense of the other makes sense, but it isn’t straightforward at this time.
On Wednesday, we may want more pleasure in our lives, but we can be going overboard. It’s best to avoid setting too-high expectations in our relationships. We’re optimistic and ready to take a chance or give someone or something the benefit of the doubt, but we should watch for overextension.
On Friday, we may crave smoothness and harmony, but we can feel a bit off if things stay the same, which can lead to subconsciously stirring up problems.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Aquarius A love for the unusual, a distaste for stodgy old rules and conventions, a feeling that you’re above the petty bourgeois stuff and nonsense: that’s what a new cycle brings into your life now. (“I love humanity; it’s people I can’t stand!”) Unconventional romantic and social connections are likely at a time like this.
Venus in Pisces A martyr complex, a love for the underdog, a search for your soul mate: such are the experiences associated with the new cycle you’re now just beginning. A yen for soul-stirring romance, a weakness for the weak, and a tendency to idealize people and relationships … very aesthetic, very other-worldly.
Venus sextile Chiron February 4. Love has the power to heal old wounds. We are open to romantic feelings and more willing to act upon them.
Venus square Uranus February 7-8. We might have to deal with issues of freedom versus intimacy during this period. Peculiar or impulsive attractions are exciting, but unlikely to last very long. Treat them as passing fancies, and enjoy them while they last–but try to hold off on making any big decisions with regards to love today.
Venus semi-sextile Saturn February 9. We may feel somewhat reserved, not quite able to let our hair down without remembering our responsibilities. However, we’re capable of great balance and understanding.
Venus semi-sextile Neptune February 10. We may feel that our quest for pleasure, affection, love, or comfort is at odds with our dreams, romantic ideas, or ideals, which can lead to mild discontent. Seeking to fulfill these needs without doing so at the expense of the other makes sense, but it isn’t straightforward at this time.
Venus sesquiquadrate Jupiter February 11. We experience a strong desire for more pleasure in our lives, which can be excessive. Take care not to overstate your feelings or to set up unrealistic expectations in your partnerships.
Venus semi-sextile Pluto February 13. We may think we want smoothness and harmony, but we can feel a bit off if things stay the same, which can lead to subconsciously stirring up problems.
Venus semi-square Chiron February 16-17. Love cannot be forced. This is not a commitment-friendly transit, as we may feel alienated for no apparent reason and unwilling to give of ourselves.
Venus conjunct the North Node of the Moon February 16-17. This is a time for reaching out to others and making connections that further our growth. Cooperation brings rewards. There could be a feeling that we’re lucky in love or in our social life now.
Venus contra-parallel Chiron February 17. Others, and especially partners and love interests, have something to teach us. This is a time for identifying vulnerable areas, perhaps through controversy or painful experiences and truths.
Venus trine Jupiter February 22. Harmony and good will reign under this influence. Expansive feelings in love, and a feeling that anything is possible if we set our sights high enough, are experienced now. We are friendly, big-hearted, sociable, and optimistic. It is easy to make social contacts under this influence. Cheerfulness, trust, and confidence in love and social matters.
Venus semi-square Pluto February 25. Tendencies to look for something wrong in a relationship. Jealousy raises its ugly head.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects.
The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart to determine the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass.
The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Tuesday, February 10th, from 2:02 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Venus), until the Moon enters Sagittarius at 2:23 AM EST.
VOC on Thursday, February 12th, from 2:30 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Saturn), until the Moon enters Capricorn at 2:45 PM EST.
VOC Moon on Saturday, February 14th, from 8:32 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Uranus), until the Moon enters Aquarius the next day, Sunday, February 15th, at 1:17 AM EST.

Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
It’s important to note that there are more factors to consider in addition to the windows listed below. The following windows are starting points. For example, you generally don’t want to elect a new venture when a very challenging aspect is applying, and it’s preferable to elect a time when a particularly positive aspect hasn’t yet perfected (is applying rather than separating).
The Moon is waning this week, which is generally considered unfavorable for new beginnings, but with some exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details).
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs this week from Friday, February 13th, at approximately 11:30 PM EST, until Saturday, February 14th, at approximately 8:30 PM EST, while the Moon is in Capricorn.

This Week’s Aspects

![]()
Venus square Uranus. Values and tastes may clash, and group activities may suffer as a result. Impulsive attractions to both people and material goods can lead us astray. Avoid impulse buys at this time. Some instability, restlessness, and rebelliousness is probable in romantic relationships. We may not see eye to eye, and we might be taken off guard by unexpected events. This is not a favorable aspect for beauty treatments because they could have unexpected results. We may struggle with freedom versus intimacy issues at this time. Hold off on decision-making with regards to finances.
![]()
![]()
Mars semi-square Saturn. We are called upon to solve problems, or our plans and efforts meet with resistance. Circumstances seem to block our efforts to assert ourselves. Patience is necessary now, although frustration is very likely. It can feel like more effort than usual is required to complete tasks.
![]()
![]()
Venus sesquiquadrate Jupiter. We might take great strides to get noticed. Avoid impulsive buying. Problems in our personal life likely won’t get resolved under this influence. Avoid hasty (or haughty!) decisions. We might overstate our feelings or promise more than we can deliver, and the tendency to overdo is strong.
![]()
![]()
Mercury semi-square Chiron. Communications may be careless, hurtful or perceived as hurtful under this influence. It can be hard to read the intention behind the words used to communicate now. There may be impatience with rules, worry or guilty feelings, and conflicting viewpoints now.
![]()
![]()
Sun sextile Chiron. An opportunity to find a sense of purpose or a “mission” arises now, increasing our confidence. The desire to learn and grow through experiences and people is strong. We also want to see others thrive and encourage development, healthy choices, discovery, sincerity, healing, and openness. It’s an accepting, tolerant time. Problem-solving is in favor.

![]()
Mars semi-square Neptune. Disorganization, lack of drive, lack of forethought, impracticality, and carelessness. Energy and time are too easily wasted. Passive-aggressiveness. It’s hard to know what we want and where we’re headed under this influence.

Mars quincunx Jupiter. We tend to take on too much–either expend too much energy or overestimate our capabilities–during this transit. Poor timing is possible now, as we may be out of synch with our instincts and natural rhythm.

FEBRUARY 8
Venus forms a square with Uranus this morning, and we can experience conflicting feelings as we wrestle with a desire to belong and a simultaneous need for independence or detachment. This transit may present a challenge or struggle. We can feel caged in and rebel against something that ties us down. Values and tastes may clash, and social activities could suffer as a result. We may feel torn between wanting closeness and freedom. Impulsive attractions to people and/or material goods can lead us astray. It’s a time when people are inclined to make fashion statements or relationship ultimatums. Some instability, restlessness, and rebelliousness are possible themes in our relationships.
It’s best to hold off on decision-making regarding finances, as there is a tendency to act on a whim rather than reason. We might feel discontent with our current pleasures or pastimes, and a change may be satisfying. However, it’s time to tame restlessness and avoid abrupt moves, while considering our needs for growth and a change of pace.
The Scorpio Moon today encourages us to uncover the hidden layers of any given situation. With the Moon square Mars this afternoon, we could be stubborn or defensive to our disadvantage. Emotional pressure can lead us to act out, take unnecessary risks, or seek extra stimulation. However, the Moon’s trine to Jupiter tonight can help us find adequate and even beneficial channels for self-expression and release of emotions. We’re ready to grow and improve, and we can benefit from sharing time and ideas with others.
FEBRUARY 9
The Moon spends the day in Scorpio, and the Last Quarter Moon occurs this morning at 7:44 AM EST, when the Sun in Aquarius forms a square with the Moon in Scorpio, pointing to a crisis of consciousness. It’s a time to consider what our recent revelations mean to us and what we might do as a result. This Quarter Moon signals the need to review and sort rather than push something new. Until the New Moon eclipse on the 17th, it’s a better time to tie up loose ends, take inventory, and let go if necessary. This quarter Moon can mark a turning point as we gain some perspective.
While it’s not always easy to get a good “read” on others today with the Moon’s opposition to Uranus and square to the Sun, it’s a fine time for exploring the layers of situations. As well, with a Mercury-Pallas conjunction, we can enjoy making plans, lists, associations, and connections today. We seek to order our thoughts and ideas and more readily recognize patterns.
FEBRUARY 10
Venus enters Pisces today, where it will transit until March 6th. This transit brings sweet, yet sometimes escapist, energy to our lives, especially in our interactions and relationships. Venus in Pisces is tender and affectionate, although difficult to reach, as there is a longing for something hard to define and satisfy. Borders and boundaries blur under this influence. The shadow side of this position can involve evasiveness and avoidance. Otherwise, it’s a time for increased compassion and greater understanding. We’re opening our minds to different pleasures and pastimes in the weeks ahead.
Today’s Sun-Jupiter biquintile motivates us to grow and improve, although we should watch for posturing rather than embracing change. This transit also encourages us to view what’s happening in a positive light. It helps us see patterns more clearly. We’re interested in making the best of our circumstances now.
However, a Mars-Saturn semi-square tonight can pose challenges. It’s best to slow down in the face of obstacles, as trying to move too fast can create more resistance. Since circumstances seem to block our efforts to assert ourselves, patience is necessary.
The Moon is void today from 2:02 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Venus), until the Moon enters Sagittarius at 2:23 AM EST.
FEBRUARY 11
A Venus-Jupiter minor square this morning can stir some restlessness. With this transit, we seek more from our pleasures, money, or relationships. When channeled well, this influence can encourage us to improve our situation, but otherwise it might lead to overindulgence, immoderation, or exaggeration. High expectations can leave us vulnerable to ups and downs.
The Sun forms a sextile to Chiron this evening, however, and we might find a sense of purpose or a “mission,” increasing our confidence, possibly through our communications and connections. The desire to learn and grow through experiences and people is strong and healthy now. Problem-solving is favored. However, a Mars-Neptune semi-square, also active now, can muddy the waters temporarily. Seeing holes or losing some confidence in our desires or pursuits can be more of a symptom of the need for a bit of inspiration or a well-deserved break than a sign that our plans are lacking. Of course, if there are flaws, adjustments may be necessary. Otherwise, we may need to rest or recuperate before pressing forward.
FEBRUARY 12
The Moon continues its transit of brave Sagittarius until 2:45 PM EST, when it enters responsible Capricorn. Mercury aligns with the North Node today, and learning, teaching, and communicating are in strong focus. We might make valuable contact with people who share our intellectual interests or introduce us to new ideas that help us improve or expand. Or, we connect with information that similarly moves us forward and challenges us to grow.
However, Mars forms a quincunx with Jupiter, stirring discontent and a sense of being out of sync with our instincts and natural rhythm. We could have trouble making decisions or find it challenging to integrate one strong desire with another. Circumstances are such that we need to assess where we’ve been putting too much–or too little–energy. Poor timing is possible, and we may need to shift our focus and prioritize.
The Moon is void from 2:30 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Saturn), until the Moon enters Capricorn at 2:45 PM EST.
FEBRUARY 13
FEBRUARY 14
The Moon is void from 8:32 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Uranus), until the Moon enters Aquarius the next day, Sunday, February 15th, at 1:17 AM EST.

THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Aquarius This is a time when your path of self-development and expression becomes more and more unusual – setting you apart from the crowd and from all that is traditional. The new, the futuristic, the high-tech are the hallmarks of your lifestyle as the cycle gets underway. Ideas and technologies that change the way people live – not just one person, but many – are a major new focus in your life. Involvement with ideals and idealistic groups enhances your sense of purpose and mission.
Mercury in Pisces Knowing things without knowing how you know them is typical at a time like this. The mystical, the universal, the eternal: these are the things that stir your curiosity. Call it psychic, call it deja vu … it can be there when you call on it, whatever you call it. (Remembering the little things might become more difficult, however: it’s tough to remember if you paid the electric bill when you’re more interested in the eternal verities.)
Mars in Aquarius The reformer, the inventor, the engineer, the revolutionary – these are important archetypes for you as a new cycle gets underway in your life. They are icons of the ambitions that stir you at a time like this. Independence, freedom from past patterns, and a daring readiness to innovate: such are the paths of achievement for you now.
Jupiter in Cancer Taking care of yourself and all that’s yours becomes a high priority in your life now. Security, setting down roots, establishing your ties with the past: these things are among the articles of faith that guide you. This is often a sign of growth in all things connected with family and property (such as real estate).
Saturn in Pisces Making peace with the past, coming to terms with karmic debts: these are some of the issues that confront you as a new phase begins in your life. Failure to face these things can cause setbacks and put obstacles in your path. Learn to look beyond the narrowly personal and selfish or you’ll get in over your head.
Saturn in Aries Self-discipline and a sense of self-worth become important issues in your life as a new phase begins for you. A fear of asserting yourself can hold you back – as can coming on too strong. The trick is learning to make the most of your personal talents and abilities, working within your limitations instead of feeling hemmed in by them.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Aries The frontier spirit is alive and well as a new cycle dawns in your life. Independence and originality take on a kind of primal importance for you; you tend to put these qualities on a pedestal, above all else. Fresh starts, new possibilities … these are the visions that light a spark in your soul. But what of the weak, the ones who aren’t free, the ones who get left behind?
Pluto in Aquarius Reform, revolution, a rejection of the past and a focus on the future: these are the signatures of the new phase now beginning in your life. Tradition becomes irrelevant, and the conventional wisdom is revealed as dogma or outright nonsense – and what’s the difference, really? Radical changes in all things social and intellectual.
