Full Moon
The Full MOON/Lunar Eclipse occurs on Friday, August 28th, 2026, at 12:18 AM EDT.
Very early on Friday, a Full Moon occurs as the Sun in Virgo forms an opposition to the Moon in Pisces. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time – a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.
There can be inflated feelings, so it’s wise to sit with them for a bit before taking action.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 4 degrees and 54 minutes of Pisces, opposite the Sun at the same degree of Virgo.
Note that this is the sixth eclipse of an eclipse set of seven occurring along the Virgo-Pisces axis that began in September 2024 and runs until February 2027.
This set began almost two years ago, in September 2024, with a Lunar Eclipse in Pisces, continued with a Lunar Eclipse in Virgo in March 2025, a Lunar Eclipse in September 2025, a Solar Eclipse in Virgo in September 2025, a Lunar Eclipse in Virgo in March 2026, this one (Lunar Eclipse in Pisces in August 2026), and a Lunar Eclipse in Virgo in February 2027.
As the sixth in a sign set, this August eclipse can serve as a further prompt, nudge, or push to make improvements in Virgo- and Pisces-ruled areas of life in our charts, and feelings of discontent can magnify.
Occurring close to the time of a Superior Conjunction of the Sun and Mercury, an epiphany, illumination of a matter, or a clearing of the air is likely and significant. We are sharp, communicative, and open at this time, and what we say or write now has a strong impact, for better or worse! An idea or plan can come to full bloom.
Read more about this and other eclipses affecting our lives in Eclipses/Lunations.
This eclipse affects people with personal planets and points at 0 to 10 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces).
The Full Moon Lunar Eclipse Chart:
This phase of the Moon occurs at 4 degrees and 54 minutes of Pisces opposite the Sun at the same degree of Virgo, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 0 to 10 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) most significantly.
This is a time to clear up past patterns that have been holding us back from personal fulfillment. We might open ourselves up to possibilities, examining the emotions that push to the surface, but finalizing plans should probably be saved for a later date. This eclipse forms a square to Uranus, and we should watch for rebellious behavior or flip decisions associated with our revelations now.
On August 28th, 2007, a total Lunar Eclipse occurred at a similar degree as this Pisces one. In 1988, a partial Lunar Eclipse occurred at a similar degree on August 27th. Previous to these dates, Lunar Eclipses occurred at about the same degree of Pisces in August 1980 and August 1969. It might be helpful to think back to issues in your life that were in effect in the last four months of 2007, 1988, and 1980, if applicable, to get an idea of how this 2026 Lunar Eclipse might affect you.
However, you can also look back in a general sense to eclipse sets occurring along the same Virgo-Pisces axis as the current one in effect from September 2024 to February 2027 for more information gleaned by looking to the past to understand themes in the present and future.
The following are also periods of your past, if they apply to you, that may have had similar themes to this current eclipse set:
Virgo-Pisces Eclipse sets (current, future, and some in recent history):
- March 2034 to February 2036
- September 2024 to February 2027
- March 2015 to February 2017
- September 2006 to February 2008
- March 1997 to September 1998
- September 1987 to August 1989
- September 1978 to August 1980
The following lists the set of eclipses falling along the Virgo-Pisces axis only (there are other eclipses in different signs between these):
- Partial LUNAR Eclipse September 17, 2024 25 Pisces 41
- Total LUNAR Eclipse March 14, 2025 23 Virgo 57
- Total LUNAR Eclipse September 7, 2025 15 Pisces 23

(Times are Eastern)
This week: The Sun is in Virgo; Mercury is in Leo to the 25th, when it enters Virgo; Venus is in Libra; Mars is in Cancer.
The Sun is in Virgo from August 22-September 22. Our focus shifts to the puzzle pieces–the little details of our lives. It is now time to take care of practical concerns. Attending to the details of everyday life may not sound like loads of fun, but it can certainly free us from unnecessary stress that results from “collecting” odds and ends of unfinished business.
This is an ideal time to get organized, do detailed work, and improve communications on the job. We take more pride in our work, chores, and health efforts. We also want to be more organized and informed during the Sun-in-Virgo cycle.
We’re learning humility and the benefits of developing skills, some level of perfectionism, and the importance of attention to detail. It’s a time of down-to-earth practicality when we prefer to invest our time and energy in things with realistic potential. We’re not inclined to ambition or “going big.” Attracting prosperity involves honest, careful, and attentive work and dedication.
Mercury is in Leo from August 9-25. When Mercury is in Leo, our thinking is more confident and grand. The focus is now on the goal–and the grander a goal the better! The details may not be quite as important now. We are more expressive, even theatrical and given to speech-giving and story-telling under this influence.
We are also more convincing and persuasive, as we exude confidence when we speak or write. With this transit, we may not listen as well as we normally do since we’re very focused on our own ideas.
We’re also strong about making decisions ourselves and letting our voices and input be heard. This is not a time when we’re content with letting others make all the moves or decisions–we need to be involved. We take the lead, manage, direct, and create while Mercury is in Leo. We need to relate to information or create stories about it to absorb it well. During this cycle, we should watch for being too inflexible, proud, or haughty to change course.
Mercury is in Virgo from August 25-September 10. When Mercury is in Virgo, precision in speech, thought, and process are more important to us. This is a time when we analyze and decide what is useful and what we deem to be impractical.
Mercury feels right at home in Virgo, one of the signs that it rules (Mercury rules both Gemini and Virgo). Dealing with details is natural and easy now. We need to be careful that we don’t lose perspective if we find ourselves lost in details, however.
While Mercury is in Virgo, we should also be aware of the possibility of expressing ourselves in a too factual manner, so much so that we come across as dry, critical, or unimaginative.
We gravitate to useful information, and we can enjoy helping others with our knowledge. It’s a time for analyzing and dissecting, but we need other influences to put the pieces together or to see the bigger picture as our confidence in so doing is not strong at this time. It’s a time of conservative thinking and a strong tendency to want facts and certainties.
Venus is in Libra from August 6-September 10, and later, from October 25-December 4 [this is longer than usual and in two steps due to an upcoming retrograde Venus cycle from October 3-November 13]. We favor charm over assertiveness to get what we want during this cycle. Usually quite willing to negotiate and compromise, we can be very obliging with others. We’re also very idealistic about love, and we seek intellectual peers. Although Venus in Libra is very relationship-focused, there is an air of cool detachment to this energy. We prefer things are done the “right” way, and aggressive or uncouth behavior turns us off.
The shadow expression of this position includes over-dependence and superficiality. To avoid unpleasant situations, we could easily gloss over deeper issues at play in our relationships. It’s probably best to avoid the trap of acquiescing to partners while privately resenting the fact or thinking ourselves martyrs for doing so.
While Venus is in Libra, we are more artistically inclined or seek balance in our personal environment. This cycle is excellent for promoting cooperation, harmony, mutually beneficial connections, and fairness. We are gentle but firm, and we’re skilled at mediation.
We’re more likely to prosper during this cycle in partnership, through one-to-one associations, such as counseling, or in fields related to harmony, relationships, beauty, design, and the law. We’re not fond of out-and-out competition or aggressive pursuit, preferring win-win situations, hands down. We attract things to us and appeal to others gently and kindly. Equality and politeness are important now, and we despise hurting others’ feelings.
Mars is in Cancer from August 11-September 27. We pursue our interests ardently, but we avoid a direct approach to going after we want while Mars transits Cancer. As well, our goals and plans are subject to mood swings and vacillations. We are defensive rather than overtly aggressive. Much of what we do depends on our current mood of the moment.
We’re also very intuitive and can be moved to take action to bring peace or comfort and safety to our lives during this period. We go to bat for our loved ones. In fact, we’re fiercely protective. It’s a powerful period for putting ego matters aside so that we can push our plans forward. Inner satisfaction and love are generally more important to us than outer achievements at this time. Personal and domestic goals are our priority during this phase.
Jupiter is in Leo.

Uranus is in Gemini.
Uranus is in Gemini from July 7th to November 7th, 2025, from April 25, 2026, to August 3, 2032, and then from December 12, 2032, to May 22, 2033. Read about Uranus in Gemini in its calendar page.

Neptune is in Aries. Neptune first transited Aries from March 30, 2025, to October 22, 2025, but it returned to Pisces. Now, Neptune is in Aries for the long haul: from January 26, 2026, to May 21, 2038, and then October 21, 2038, to March 23, 2039. Read about Neptune’s transit of Aries.

Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Libra from August 6-September 10, and later, from October 25-December 4 [this is longer than usual and in two steps due to an upcoming retrograde Venus cycle from October 3-November 13]. Equality and politeness are important now, and we despise hurting others’ feelings.
This week: From Wednesday to Saturday, we can experience some frustration with our current circumstances. Dissatisfaction is likely due to inner discontent and yearning for more appreciation from our partners. We tend to analyze and intellectualize our feelings and relationships. Interactions bring up more questions than answers.
Going out of our way to make others feel wanted, appreciated, and recognized is appropriate now.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Libra As this new cycle takes hold in your life, romance and social interaction take on a greater importance for you. Harmonious ties to others are what you yearn for; refinement and elegance are what you seek. The ideal partnership, the perfect balance, the highest standards of truth and beauty – these are some of the things that quicken your pulse now.
Venus opposition Saturn August 20-21. We keep others at arm’s length, unsure of whether we are loved or not. This is a somewhat inhibiting influence when it appears that people value utility over true love. An element of seriousness permeates our love relationships. We may feel criticized and inhibited, unloved and unsatisfied, but our worst enemies may be ourselves and our own fears of getting close to others.
Venus contra-parallel the Sun August 26. We are more strongly aware of our relationships (or lack) and the pride they give us. Dissatisfaction experienced now is likely due to inner discontent and yearning for more appreciation from our partners. Going out of our way to make others feel wanted, appreciated, and recognized is appropriate now.
Venus semi-square Mercury August 27. Communications between lovers are superficial and unsatisfying, and perhaps awkward. Superficiality in romantic expression may exist now.
Venus contra-parallel Mercury August 28. We are voicing our feelings now, but we should be careful not to over-intellectualize our affections. We tend to analyze our feelings and relationships. Interactions bring up questions.
Venus sesquiquadrate Uranus August 28. Uncertainty about the desire to be close to someone. Freedom versus closeness. A desire to experiment in the romance department may be fleeting and ultimately unsatisfying or frustrating.
Venus semi-square the Sun August 28-29. Irritations that seem to stem from others could be the reflection of our own inner uneasiness. Do your best to control yearnings for more and search for a creative solution for your inner dissatisfaction.
Venus trine North Node of the Moon September 9. We are more concerned about harmonizing and tend to be agreeable and cooperative. We could feel lucky in love, and we could meet someone who is good for us. Fortunate connections might be made now.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects.
The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart to determine the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass.
The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Monday, August 24th, from 2:30 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Venus), until the Moon enters Aquarius the next day, Tuesday, August 25th, at 5:02 AM EDT.
VOC on Wednesday, August 26th, from 5:59 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Venus), until the Moon enters Pisces the next day, Thursday, August 27th, at 3:04 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Friday, August 28th, from 12:14 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Mars), until the Moon enters Aries the next day, Saturday, August 29th, at 10:38 PM EDT.

Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
It’s important to note that there are more factors to consider in addition to the windows listed below. The following windows are starting points. For example, you generally don’t want to elect a new venture when a very challenging aspect is applying, and it’s preferable to elect a time when a particularly positive aspect hasn’t yet perfected (is applying rather than separating).
The Moon is waxing until the Full Moon eclipse on the 28th, which is considered favorable for new beginnings, although with some exceptions. After the Full Moon on the 28th, the Moon is waning, which is generally considered less favorable for new beginnings, but also with exceptions.
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window occurs from approximately 6:40 AM EDT to 5:55 PM EDT on Wednesday, August 26th, while the Moon is in Aquarius. Note that we’re between eclipses, which is not ideal for clarity, in general.

AUGUST 23
Today’s Capricorn Moon is responsible and competent. While we tend to keep our cool under this transit in a general sense, the Moon’s opposition to Mars and square to Saturn can be aggravating, especially if we’re feeling overruled by others. The Sun’s trine to Chiron today, however, is powerful. It encourages a holistic approach to problem-solving. Opportunities to learn, grow, and improve can arise, especially through spontaneity, self-assertion, and courage. With less concern about who’s right or wrong, we’re open to learning and growing. Our egos don’t get in the way, helping us make real progress. Fortunately, we’re putting our respect in the right places. The chance to find a sense of purpose or a “mission” can emerge now, increasing our confidence.
AUGUST 24
Mercury’s trine to Vesta this morning favors specialized attention to a particular project or endeavor. We might feel pleasantly dedicated to our work or ideas. Our ability to focus on what we’re doing and communicating improves, and we tend to notice and consider details. As the day advances, a Mercury-Saturn sesquiquadrate transit points to hypersensitivity, negative thinking, and unhelpful criticism. Still, it can be a somewhat beneficial influence for editing work, identifying flaws, or fixing problems, allowing us to be proactive rather than unhealthily focused on problem areas. The Moon spends the day in practical Capricorn.
The Moon is void from 2:30 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Venus), until the Moon enters Aquarius the next day, Tuesday, August 25th, at 5:02 AM EDT.
AUGUST 25
The Moon is void until it enters Aquarius today at 5:02 AM EDT.
AUGUST 26
The Moon is void from 5:59 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Venus), until the Moon enters Pisces the next day, Thursday, August 27th, at 3:04 PM EDT.
AUGUST 27
The Moon continues its void period until it enters Pisces today at 3:04 PM EDT.
AUGUST 28
The Moon is void from 12:14 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Mars), until the Moon enters Aries the next day, Saturday, August 29th, at 10:38 PM EDT.
AUGUST 29
The Moon is void until it enters Aries today at 10:38 PM EDT.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Capricorn
![]()
We become aware of the need for structure and planning ahead. We also instinctively are aware of the limitations of time. We are motivated by a desire for success. Achievement and manifestation are most important to us now. We are resourceful and don't want to waste time, energy, or resources. This can be a very sober influence--even a depressing one. However, it can also be a productive time when we look reality in the eye.
The Moon in Capricorn generally favors the following activities: Long-term activities that yield slow but steady results, practical undertakings, career issues, making a business plan, practical investments.
When the Moon is in Aquarius
![]()
Attraction to all that is new and unusual, and an instinctive need for improvement, characterize the Moon in Aquarius. Reactions are more intellectual than emotional, and interactions are more impersonal than personal, under this influence. This is a time that promotes social gatherings, dealing with group ideals and goals for the future, brainstorming, new ideas, and progressive changes. We are open to new methods of doing things and we have our eye on the future. It can be hard to stick to schedules now, as personal freedom is most important to us.
The Moon in Aquarius generally favors the following activities: Unusual or radical undertakings, social pursuits, group projects, trying something new, joining a group.
When the Moon is in Pisces
![]()
We may not want to face reality while the Moon is in dreamy, impressionable Pisces. It can be a wistful, sensitive, intuitive, and compassionate time. We are especially imaginative, and our intuition reigns under this influence. Boundaries and walls come down, as Pisces energy merges and blends. It's a time when details are overlooked and feelings defy description.
The Moon in Pisces generally favors the following activities: Imaginative undertakings, mystical or spiritual pursuits, inner development, music and drama, going on a retreat, activities involving water.
When the Moon is in Aries
![]()
We're motivated by a strong desire to start fresh. A gut instinct to begin something new is with us now, as well as the gumption to do so. Our pioneering impulses are strong, and we feel energetic, spontaneous, and enthusiastic. We may also be tactless and impulsive now. Excess energy is best channeled into physical activity.
People can be more self-motivated and also self-focused while the Moon is in Aries. It's a competitive rather than cooperative time. Accidents and tempers flaring are more likely than usual. This period is one of more personal courage.
The Moon in Aries generally favors the following activities: Quick actions that yield immediate results. Undertakings that involve the self and the personality. (Staying power may be lacking). Self-assertion, taking on challenges, beginning short-term projects.

THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Virgo You’re coming into a new cycle centered on taking what you know and what you’ve got and then making the most of it in the real world. Assimilating information and experience, learning lessons and putting them into practice – that’s the focus as this cycle unfolds. It’s a time for prudence and stewardship, a time to tend to the details. You probably already have the grand ideals and visions: now you must get your hands dirty with the bricks and mortar and your mind busy with putting it all together.
Mercury in Leo The hallmark of the cycle you have just begun is thinking, learning and communicating with style. Intellectual creativity is highlighted, and your social connections have a certain flair of drama to them. Winning the admiration of others for the things you say or write (and the way you do it) takes on more importance in your life.
Mercury in Virgo Mental discipline and patience are keynoted as you enter into a new cycle. Thinking things through, accounting for all the details, making careful measurements: these and similar experiences keep your mind active and involved. An interest in health and work may come to the fore.
Mars in Cancer Defensive, aren’t we? With this new cycle getting underway, protecting and preserving you and yours takes on a higher than usual priority. A sensitivity to the needs and wants of others and an appreciation for their frailties (as well as your own) makes you more cautious and conservative … you pick your battles with care.
Jupiter in Leo High drama, big romance, a creative bonanza: this is the stuff dreams are made of now. The world is your stage, the spotlight is your goal, and the love and appreciation of others is the air you breathe. Children, lovers, admirers: these are the people who figure large in your life as this cycle progresses. A willingness to gamble on the future.
Saturn in Aries Self-discipline and a sense of self-worth become important issues in your life as a new phase begins for you. A fear of asserting yourself can hold you back – as can coming on too strong. The trick is learning to make the most of your personal talents and abilities, working within your limitations instead of feeling hemmed in by them.
Uranus in Gemini New ideas, new input, and new ways of exchanging these things with others – all these and more become increasingly important factor in your life now, as you enter into a new phase. This is a period of enhanced mental activity, a nonstop stream of consciousness, of trying out new concepts and perspectives.
Neptune in Aries The frontier spirit is alive and well as a new cycle dawns in your life.
