On August 12th, the New Moon/Solar Eclipse in Leo prompts a new beginning–we’re starting anew. This eclipse is the second in a Leo-Aquarius set that began in February and is a total Solar Eclipse. In the sign of Leo, confidence, creativity, romance and dating, games, sports, recreation, speculation, hobbies, or children are a strong focus on a personal level. This New Moon eclipse might challenge these matters and present opportunities for new beginnings. Long-term changes are in the works! Flaws in an important system in our lives reveal themselves around the time of the eclipse, prompting us to redo or to start fresh. Something ends in order for something else to begin.

This eclipse can highlight and challenge our issues surrounding our romantic connections, pursuit of entertainment, and attitude toward expressing and enjoying ourselves. We might take steps toward improving in these areas by tackling things that undermine our goals or connections.

Circumstances nudge or encourage us to see where we haven’t been true to our authentic selves. Ultimately, we are now in a position to understand that changes or endings are necessary for our own growth, and that we can handle these things! On August 28th, a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse occurs in Pisces, awakening us to our emotional needs. Note that this is the sixth eclipse of an eclipse set of seven occurring along the Virgo-Pisces axis that began in September 2024 and runs until February 2027.

This August eclipse can serve as a further prompt, nudge, or push to make improvements in Virgo- and Pisces-ruled areas of life in our charts, and feelings of discontent can magnify. Occurring close to the time of a Superior Conjunction of the Sun and Mercury, an epiphany, illumination of a matter, or a clearing of the air is likely and significant. We are sharp, communicative, and open at this time, and what we say or write now has a strong impact, for better or worse! An idea or plan can come to full bloom. Our feelings also blossom now. Full Moons are about connecting us with things we already know but aren’t acknowledging, such as buried feelings, or they bring secrets to light and projects to a turning point.

This Lunar Eclipse presses us to look more closely at our needs, lacks, and wants. We are encouraged to find a balance between day-to-day functions and routines, physical health, and the need for order (Virgo) and vision, spiritual health, disorder, and the infinite (Pisces). It’s important to note that we’re temporarily in the dark about a matter at the time of an eclipse, and we’re seeing another area of life as if we’re looking at it through a magnifying glass. It’s distorted—we don’t yet have the full picture. This perspective does help us, ultimately, but it helps to remember that we’re missing something and to defer judgment. On August 31st, Jupiter forms a trine with Saturn, and this is the first of three such aspects while Jupiter is in Leo and Saturn is in Aries. We’re ready to put in the effort to achieve our practical goals. We are pragmatic, realistic, and our judgment is especially sound–and we derive much satisfaction from practical accomplishment.

The key to harnessing this incredible energy is to identify and find pleasure in the simple things that make us happy. At the same time, we may notice areas where small, incremental improvements can be beneficial. We see opportunities where we previously saw limits, but we’re not going overboard.
