The NEW MOON/SOLAR ECLIPSE occurs on Sunday, February 26, 2017, at 9:58 AM EST. On Sunday morning, an especially potent New Moon occurs in Pisces – potent because it’s a Solar Eclipse. Because this solar eclipse occurs in the sign of Pisces, imagination, service, dreams, ideals, and compassion will be in focus. This eclipse is about new beginnings when it comes to taking a leap of faith, our beliefs, the acceptance of imperfections, imagination and intuition, selfless service, and dreams.
This is a time when we should build our powers of acceptance, belief, and compassion; take a leap of faith–believe in something higher; start a creative, imaginative project; practice putting ourselves in others’ shoes, and let some things go (such as judgments, annoyances, and the like); revitalize ourselves through experiences that require imagination, compassion, or that simply represent a “break” from the routine; give ourselves selflessly through compassionate service; and to share a dream with others. For some of us, circumstances are such that we need to pay more attention to our spirituality.
We may find ourselves completely re-working the area of life ruled by Pisces in our charts. It’s a time to take special note of our dreams, as well as insights or thoughts/emotions that seem to come from “out of the blue”. These could be creatively inspiring. The range of emotions that Pisces registers is extraordinary, and this could be a time when we feel that enormous range. With Pisces’ opposite sign, Virgo, we are acutely aware of imperfections. We see the flaws around us and perhaps become very tense and irritable, or we work hard at fixing them. To Pisces, however, imperfection is beautiful. With the health and service axis (Pisces-Virgo) involved, health or work issues may come to the fore. As well, the ability to set boundaries when it comes to the services we render can become a major issue. Situations that test our faith, or magnify our fears and doubts, may be part of the picture. For some, a new “calling” will surface in the coming six months. A new line of work that better matches our inner nature, desire to serve, or emotional make-up may unfold in the months following this eclipse. We may discover that we need more rest and relaxation or attention to our spiritual nature than we are currently allowing ourselves.
Major developments in the personal areas ruled by Pisces are likely to occur over the course of the next 3-6 months. However, not everyone will feel the effect of the eclipse with the same intensity. Those whose personal planets are activated by the degree of the eclipse will feel its effects on a personal level. This is the final eclipse in a set that occurred along the Virgo-Pisces axis. To personalize the meaning of this eclipse in your life, see Solar Eclipse in Pisces.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 8 degrees and 12 minutes of Pisces, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 3 to 13 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces).

(Times are Eastern)
The Sun is in Pisces; Mercury is in Pisces; Venus is in Aries; Mars is in Aries.
The Sun is in Pisces from February 18-March 20. With the Sun in Pisces, we are guided by altruistic feelings. We are less motivated to do than we are to feel, imagine, and dream. A “what will be, will be” attitude reigns, and we are guided by a sense of universal correlations. Pisces rules empathy, selfless love, devotion, and wisdom. Its shadow side rules self-pity, a feeling of being victimized by life, passivity, and elusiveness.
Mercury is in Pisces from February 25-March 13. When Mercury is in Pisces, our thinking processes are more visual, intuitive, and imaginative. We are especially attuned to the world of emotion, which colors both our thoughts and our communication style. We guess well, express ourselves with imagery, and make decisions intuitively. We are more attracted to consciousness-raising information.
Venus is in Aries from February 3-April 2 and then April 28-June 6. In Aries, love is spontaneous and direct. The chase is very exciting to us under this fiery influence. We are bold, fresh, and a little impatient when it comes to matters of the heart. We don’t look back with Aries energy. We are not interested in saying sorry or dwelling on the past. It’s a brand new day! It’s time to make things work right now. Aries is known for a love of the chase and the conquest, but Aries love can be longstanding as long as it remains relatively fresh. Aries is blunt–there’s no sugar-coating with Aries. This can sting, but rarely is Aries energy mean or petty. Saying it like it is is important to Aries. Desires are strong and expressed spontaneously, enthusiastically, and directly. Aries prefers to seduce rather than be seduced, to chase rather than be chased.
Mars is in Aries from January 28-March 9. Mars feels at home in one of the signs that it rules, Aries, and therefore its power is boosted. Our energy is spontaneous, forward-looking, and even courageous under this influence. Our competitive spirit is well-developed, and our goal is to win! We are active, single-minded, and confident. Our actions are direct–we instinctively find the fastest way to get from point A to point B. The shadow side of Mars in Aries is a tendency to be impatient, arrogant, impulsive, short-lived, unreflective, and self-centered.
Saturn transits Sagittarius from December 23, 2014, to June 14, 2015, and then from September 17, 2015, to December 20, 2017. Read about Saturn’s transit through Sagittarius here.
Jupiter entered Libra on September 9th, 2016, and will transit Libra until October 10, 2017. Read about Jupiter in Libra here.
Uranus entered Aries on March 11th, 2011. The urge to start fresh, to break free from restrictive attitudes or circumstances, to totally redesign an area of our lives (or even our personalities), and to gain freedom through independence is strong with Uranus in Aries.

This week: Venus doesn’t form any major aspects with other planets this week – it moves slowly as it heads into a retrograde station on March 4th.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Aries Romance at the drop of a hat is part and parcel of the cycle you have just begun. Winning the hearts of others can be a challenge you’re eager to accept – and the thrill of the chase might be most of the fun. Is it the pursuit of happiness – or the happiness of pursuit?
Venus semi-square Mercury February 23. Communications between lovers may feel superficial or unsatisfying, and perhaps awkward. We may be especially sensitive to what’s being communicated now.
Venus parallel Mars March 10-11. Favors romantic and sexual relationships. Intense passions.
Venus conjunct Mercury March 17-18. Favors playfulness in love and enhanced communication between partners.
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology). Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Monday, February 27th, from 6:09 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Saturn), until the Moon enters Aries at 11:52 PM EST.
VOC Moon on Wednesday, March 1st, from 9:19 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Saturn), until the Moon enters Taurus the next day, Thursday, March 2nd, at 2:43 AM EST.
VOC Moon on Friday, March 3rd, from 10:21 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Pluto), until the Moon enters Gemini the next day, Saturday, March 4th, at 5:07 AM EST.

Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
The Moon is waning this week until the New Moon on the 26th — a period that is generally considered unfavorable for new beginnings, with exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details). The Moon is waxing this week after the New Moon on the 26th — a period that is generally considered favorable for new beginnings, again with exceptions.
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs on Wednesday, March 1st, from approximately 5:50 PM to 9:15 PM, while the Moon is in Aries. Another window occurs from Thursday, March 2nd, from approximately 2:45 AM EST, until Friday, March 3rd, at approximately 10:20 AM EST, while the Moon is in Taurus. Keep in mind, however, that this is a week of a Solar Eclipse and judgment may be off. As well, Venus turns retrograde on March 4th (until April 15th).

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Mars conjunct Uranus. A tendency to take risks, to feel restless, and to act on sudden impulses without considering consequences can take hold now. There may be changes in work schedules, or life’s circumstances could challenge us in such a way that we need to change our goals or actions. We are naturally bold and assertive, willing to experiment, and conscious of a need to act independently. Our ideas may be ground-breaking, or at the very least progressive. A strong desire to make things happen is with us now. The best way to harness this exciting but erratic energy is to act rather than react.
Mars opposition Jupiter. Over-estimating what we are capable of doing characterizes this transit. What we want to do may conflict with what is actually possible. We may get fired up over opposing viewpoints, and we may need to adjust our plan of action. Errors in judgment made now are likely due to impulsiveness and the overlooking of crucial details.
Mercury semi-square Pluto. “Suspicious minds” characterize this transit, although if we harness the energy, we can develop strategies to get to the bottom of any matter. Mistrust, investigations. Some level of mental stress, trouble, or pressure.
Mercury semi-square Uranus. We can have flashes of insight, but tend to be scatterbrained. Our ideas and communications may not be well-received because they don’t seem to others to carry weight. Our minds are not peaceful or harmonious under this influence, and irritable tempers, sarcastic speech, and dogmatism are negative expressions of this energy.
Mercury sesquiquadrate Jupiter. We experience information overload, and we neglect to consider details. People tend to exaggerate today.
Sun conjunct Neptune. We are extremely sensitive to the moods and undercurrents around us. We make judgments intuitively and instinctually. We may have a hard time defining our actions and our goals, perhaps losing sight of reality and reason. Flexible morals. Increased spiritual awareness, imagination, and inspiration.
Mercury semi-square Mars. We are quick-witted and ready to argue under this influence. We may be working under stressful or hectic conditions, as we feel pressure to get things done quickly. We are inclined to be snappy and irritable, and we may too easily interrupt others rather than listen. Conflicts of interest are likely.
Mercury conjunct Neptune. Our intuitive creativity is stimulated under this influence. A very positive transit for artistic and literary endeavors. We get insights into our own minds. Conscious reasoning can be distorted by subconscious matter, so concentrating on cold hard facts can be challenging. Daydreaming, visualization, and prophecy are stimulated. Communications may be unclear, vague, or downright confused. We may be subject to deception. Avoid signing contracts under this influence.

What’s In Store By the Stars – Daily Astrology Trends
(as featured on our site’s main page and in our Daily Trends Calendar)
FEBRUARY 26
A Solar Eclipse occurs this morning – the last in a set of eclipses falling along the Virgo-Pisces axis. This eclipse is about new beginnings when it comes to taking a leap of faith, our beliefs, the acceptance of imperfections, imagination and intuition, selfless service, and dreams. It’s a time to take special note of our dreams, as well as insights or thoughts/emotions that seem to come from “out of the blue,” which can be inspiring. For some, a new “calling” will surface in the coming six months. A new line of work that better matches our inner nature, desire to serve, or emotional make-up may unfold in the months following this eclipse. We may discover that we need more rest or attention to our spiritual needs than we are currently allowing ourselves. Mars aligns with Uranus today and will oppose Jupiter tomorrow morning. When Mars meets Uranus approximately every two years, we can be filled with a sudden desire to make things happen, and in the sign of Aries, this can’t happen soon enough! It’s a powerful time for ridding ourselves of attachments that have been weighing us down, and for letting change in. We are naturally bold and assertive, willing to experiment, and extremely conscious of a need to act independently. The best way to harness this exciting but erratic energy is to act rather than react, although it can be difficult to know whether our impulses come from genuine desire or if we are rebelling against restrictions. We should watch for rash decisions and impatience now. If we feel confined, this is a time when things come to a head. The Moon is in Pisces all day.
FEBRUARY 27
Mars opposes Jupiter this morning, and we have a strong desire to expand, to grow, and to do and know more. If we feel limited or restricted, or if we don’t know where to begin, this can serve to frustrate. There can be impatience. What we want to do may conflict with what is possible. We may get fired up over opposing viewpoints, and we may need to adjust our plan of action. Competitive feelings, however, can motivate us to push ourselves a little harder. The trick will be to do so in moderation. Errors in judgment made now are likely due to impulsiveness and the overlooking of crucial details. This evening, a Mercury-Pluto semi-square stimulates doubt, suspicion, and worry or paranoia. We may feel pressure to know the truth about a matter but should consider whether it’s best to wait things out. The Moon continues its transit of Pisces for most of the day until it enters Aries at 11:52 PM EST.
A void of course Moon occurs from 6:09 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Saturn), until the Moon enters Aries at 11:52 PM EST.
FEBRUARY 28
The Moon is in Aries all day, and with the exception of an alignment with Venus tonight, does very little else in a major way. While an Aries Moon typically thrives on activity, we’re likely to feel less harried and pressured today, particularly after a couple of high-energy days. This is a potentially favorable day for guilty pleasures, feel-good and uncomplicated activities (particularly physical), first moves on a social level, and new business ideas.
MARCH 1
With the Sun conjunct Neptune today, we are extremely sensitive to the moods and undercurrents around us. We make judgments intuitively and instinctually. We may have a hard time defining our actions and our goals, perhaps losing sight of reality and reason. Our morals may be flexible now, as we tend to stretch our usual boundaries. This transit stimulates and enhances spiritual awareness, imagination, and inspiration. The Sun is also parallel Jupiter today, and positive expectations tend to open up opportunities. This can be a charitable time, although we may be short on details. Mercury forms minor challenging aspects to Uranus and Jupiter (Jupiter and Uranus will form an exact opposition tomorrow), pointing to possible misjudgments. We have little patience for routine and might skip over details in haste. We want to learn new things, not recycle old ideas. The Moon is in Aries all day, and in contrast to yesterday, engages with many planets. A continuing theme of moving forward (with strong Aries and a Jupiter-Uranus opposition) works alongside a theme of slowing down and processing (Pisces and Neptune).
A void of course Moon occurs from 9:19 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Saturn), until the Moon enters Taurus the next day, Thursday, March 2nd, at 2:43 AM EST.
MARCH 2
The Moon finishes its transit of Aries at 2:43 AM EST when it enters Taurus. While the Taurus Moon seeks predictability and comfort, a long-term aspect that becomes exact today reaches for freedom and progress. Jupiter opposes Uranus — an aspect that first formed precisely in December and that will perfect again on September 27th. This is a transit that cries out for freedom, particularly regarding our close relationships. We seek out partnership, but we are also holding on tightly to our individuality. We are looking for release or freedom from pressures, strains, and areas of life where we feel limited, restricted, and constrained. Events occurring now can bring surprises and sudden changes of hearts or paths. The desire to grow and progress is adamant now. We can entertain new possibilities and find inspiration from unusual sources, but we can also be rebellious and impulsive under this influence. While this transit can give us just the right motivation to try something new or break free from a limiting situation, we should watch for glorifying all that is new and fresh to the point that we forget what’s truly important to us.
The void Moon ends when the Moon enters Taurus at 2:43 AM EST.
MARCH 3
Mercury forms a semi-square with Mars today, and this can stimulate impatience. We’re thinking quickly, but may be looking for instant results and could be too ready to argue. We may be working under stressful or hectic conditions, as we feel pressure to get things done quickly. Interrupting others rather than listening is another negative potential. However, as the day advances, Mercury moves towards an alignment with Neptune, and it’s easier to let go of tension. Our intuitive capacities are stimulated and possibly enhanced now, and we might apply these to everyday issues and problems. Conscious reasoning is distorted or enhanced by subconscious matter, depending on the application and how you look at it. It’s not the best energy for detail work or dealing with hard facts, but it’s useful for visualizing and imagining. Communications can be inspired and inspirational, quite fanciful, or vague and unclear, and possibly deceptive. The Moon is in Taurus all day, and we are more aware of our need to enjoy the sensual pleasures of life–eating, drinking, listening to music, and so forth. The Moon harmonizes with Pluto and Chiron today, providing us with mostly satisfying channels for expressing ourselves. However, Venus is moving to a retrograde station, and we may be getting our signals crossed as the shift occurs.
A void of course Moon occurs from 10:21 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Pluto), until the Moon enters Gemini the next day, Saturday, March 4th, at 5:07 AM EST.
MARCH 4
Venus stations as it turns retrograde today, and will be retrograde until April 15th. Until April 2nd, Venus transits Aries and then retreats into Pisces on that date for the remainder of the retrograde. This Venus retrograde cycle can bring us back to unresolved matters, particularly to do with relationships, finances, wants and needs, and values. We may want to avoid significant new beginnings or decisions related to Venus-ruled endeavors, such as finances, partnership, romance, and pleasurable pursuits. However, it’s a good time to assess these matters. This is a cycle in which we review, re-evaluate, and re-assess our love life, personal finances, and the manner in which we receive, reveal, and express our affections. Thoughts turn to the past so that we can lay to rest unhealthy habits in these areas of life. We are able to get in better touch with our values and needs during this slowdown phase. The Moon completes its transit of Taurus at 5:07 AM EST and enters Gemini. Mercury aligns with Neptune this morning, and daydreaming, visualization, and prophecy are stimulated. Communications may be inspired, romantic, and imaginative, or vague and unclear.
The void Moon ends when the Moon enters Gemini at 5:07 AM EST.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Pisces
We are not inclined to want to face reality while the Moon is in dreamy, impressionable Pisces. It can be a wistful, sensitive, intuitive, and compassionate time. We are especially imaginative, and our intuition reigns under this influence. Boundaries and walls come down, as Pisces energy merges and blends. It’s a time when details are overlooked and feelings defy description.
The Moon in Pisces generally favors the following activities: Imaginative undertakings, mystical or spiritual pursuits, inner development, music and drama, going on a retreat, activities involving water.
When the Moon is in Aries
We’re motivated by a strong desire to start fresh. A gut instinct to start something new is with us now, as well as the gumption to do so. Our pioneering impulses are strong, and we feel energetic, spontaneous, and enthusiastic. We may also be tactless and impulsive now. Excess energy is best channeled into physical activity.
The Moon in Aries generally favors the following activities: Quick actions that yield immediate results. Undertakings that involve the self and the personality. (Staying power may be lacking). Self-assertion, taking on challenges, beginning short-term projects.
When the Moon is in Taurus
We are motivated by the desire for serenity, security, peace, and comfort. The Moon is at her most sensual and constant in Taurus. Our basic impulses are to relax, resist change, and “stop to smell the roses”. Life slows down a little, and we get comfortable. We may also be inclined to stubbornness and materialism under this influence.
The Moon in Taurus generally favors the following activities: Substantial and material actions that yield solid results. Financial activities, and those involving personal possessions, applying for a loan, beginning a potentially long-term relationship, music, home decor.
When the Moon is in Gemini
Our basic instinct is to communicate, think, and learn under the influence of Moon in Gemini. We are motivated by a desire for variety and by an instinctive curiosity. The Moon in Gemini is light-hearted, breezy, and curious, but it can also be restless and fickle.
The Moon in Gemini generally favors the following activities: Mental and communicative actions, and more than one activity at once. Reading, learning, letters and emails, errands, writing, teaching, making connections, short trips.
This Week’s Planetary Positions By Sign (General Trends)
Sun in Pisces The mystic, the martyr, the sinner, and the saint: these archetypes take on greater importance in your life at a time like this. Forgiveness, compassion, and understanding come naturally, when you look at life from an eternal perspective – and if anyone ever does know such things, you’ll probably come to understand them as this cycle unfolds. This can be a phase of sublime spiritual development, to be sure. But you should be aware of tendencies to believe too quickly, too deeply, or to become dependent on things or people that seem to offer quick and easy answers to life’s deepest yearnings.
Mercury in Pisces Knowing things without knowing how you know them is typical at a time like this. The mystical, the universal, the eternal: these are the things that stir your curiosity. Call it psychic, call it deja vu … it can be there when you call on it, whatever you call it. (Remembering the little things might become more difficult, however: it’s tough to remember if you paid the electric bill when you’re more interested in the eternal verities.)
Mars in Aries Fresh challenges and initiatives light your fires now, as a new cycle begins in your life – lots of energy, a powerful urge to be first or come out on top. Away with the old and on to the new – let no one and nothing stand between you and your objective! Headstrong impulses and rash courage can take you far … sometimes in harm’s way, if you’re not careful.
Jupiter in Libra The ties that bind, the harmonious integration of opposites, the perfect balance: these are the keys to your greatest opportunities now. Marriage and other close personal relationships tend to offer bright prospects, and you have a deep yearning to experience the fulfillment they can bring.
Saturn in Sagittarius The new phase now beginning in your life brings a need to break out of narrow concepts and legalistic philosophical or religious ideas. Remember: “A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds.” Opportunities to broaden your mental horizons may not come with ease, but they are essential if you are to avoid a kind of spiritual stagnation.
Uranus in Aries A clean break with the past in some respects is signaled by the cycle you have just begun. What YOU need, YOUR freedom and independence, shattering old molds: these are the things that energize you and take priority in your life. Uniqueness and originality set you apart.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone and everyone in their place…
