Question from a Reader: Please help me understand my birth chart
Hi !
I have came across your website. I am a doctor by profession and am going through hard times mainly because of not being able to make timely decisions and yet another thing is that am troubled with the imaginative side of the Piscean moon that is overwhelming in my case. I find the Sagittarian bluntness and tactlessness in me and am unable to bring tact into my dealings and I have trouble thinking less emotionally and responding to situations on a less emotional basis and using logic and reason. I have developed interest in astrology quite recently when I read articles, linking medical evidence to astrological findings and I am developing faith in it and always thinking in terms of knowing people more on astrological lines and this proves to be a good exercise. (Full birth information supplied) I need to know about my character traits more in depth and also if you can help define certain other aspects of other planets and their role etc and also to help inform me regarding understanding of houses and how are they in my case in depth; and, what’s my descendant sign ? I think that my Sagittarian personality is in conflict with my Piscean moon and also is not in harmony with the Taurean rising sign. Thanks for your time
~Dr. F.
Adam’s Answer:
Dear Dr. F,
We did look into your chart and found a few things that seem to collaborate what you have written in your email. The battle between reality and imagination, and the issue of timeliness in your decision-making is actually common to Mercury conjunct Neptune aspects. And the need for tact in dealing with people in your world is common to people with Moon-Venus and Mercury-Venus aspects. You have all of these aspects. I wouldn’t worry about the tact issue – I’d suspect you already have some, you only worry about that more than others. What I would worry about is that while those aspects make you think and emote exceptionally well, they also add a level of complacency in your attitude to life that you might want to avoid. It’s true that your Sagittarius Sun squares your Pisces Moon. However, I would take that as a sign of strength. There is conflict between your emotions and your inspiration there, but you can learn to overcome the conflict and that will make you a better person. One of your strengths lies in another aspect, and that is your Moon-Mars trine. That makes you a strong-willed individual. As well, you have a Mercury-Pluto aspect that makes you a hard worker. The position of your planets in the various houses seem to indicate a public life. Your chosen profession as a doctor makes sense. Your node positions might make it a battle between staying home and a career. You will have to deal with that as you go along, but overall your disposition will be towards dealings outside the home. Once you strike a balance, you will be happy.
The sign of any person’s descendant is the one that is opposite the ascendant. The descendant sign is the sign found on the cusp of the seventh house, and in your case it is Scorpio.
We will be happy to answer any other questions and concerns.

Question from a Reader: Why Do I Always Seem to be Attracted to Scorpios?
Hi Annie 🙂
I would like to know if there is anything in my chart to suggest that I am somehow doomed to date to Scorpios, lol. All 3 of my serious relationships have been with people of this Sun sign, and I just can’t seem to steer myself away from them. Even when meeting someone new, be it in person or even on the internet, if I find them at all interesting or attractive, I’m ready to bet every last cent I have that they’re Scorpio. I haven’t been wrong yet. Mentally I must have bet and won about six thousand bucks by now. Please help! (Full birth data supplied).
~A.
Annie’s Answer:
Dear A,
It’s odd when that happens, isn’t it? While I haven’t come across a diehard theory about why this kind of thing happens, when I read your question, I was quite anxious to see if your Venus is in Scorpio or if it makes a strong aspect to Pluto (Scorpio’s ruling planet), or both. Your Venus is in Scorpio, although it doesn’t contact Pluto. The reason for this is that when people tend to be attracted to people with certain signs, I have almost always found “answers” in their position of Venus in their charts. However, many people go through life attracted to people who don’t have much connection to their Venus signs/position, so there is no clear formula here. There must be something else in the chart that would indicate this tendency, but I haven’t found it yet!
Venus shows us what we enjoy, what we find attractive and pleasing. Another area of the chart that is associated with pleasure and attraction is the fifth house. Your fifth house is quite “packed”, housing your Sun, Pluto, North Node, Mars, and Uranus. Libra is on the cusp, and Scorpio is in there too. You also have Mars in Scorpio, so you have both planets associated with love, romance, and sexuality in Scorpio! These Scorpio guys you are attracted to might just be displaying all the “right” signals that get you going. There’s no such as doom or fate in the strict sense of the word, in my opinion. 😀 But we can’t always help what we find intriguing and thrilling!
Thanks for your email! Let me know if you want to know more, or if you meet a Sagittarius who gets you going. 😀 Mind you, there is a lot more to astrology than sun signs, and wouldn’t it be interesting if that non-Scorpio has Moon or Venus in Scorpio? 😀

Question from a Reader: What do the Mars/Venus/Moon in Aquarius mean?
What do the Mars/Venus/Moon in Aquarius mean? Then there’s the ascendant. I don’t know what they are. Do they mean different times of the day, certain years or what? I was born Jan 30 but which one am I??
Annie’s Answer:
Most people know their “sign”, but that is only the sign the Sun occupied at the time of your birth. In order to find out where your Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, etc. were positioned at the time of your birth, you will need to consult an ephemeris, an online ephemeris, or an astrologer. We have a page on this site that makes it easy to find out the positions of your planets online, found here. Alternatively, you can send me an email and I can give you your particulars, but I will need your full birth data, including your birth day, year, place, and time. If you don’t know your time, I won’t be able to tell you your Ascendant. Your Moon sign may not be accurate this way, but it is more than likely that I will be able to let you know your Mercury, Venus, and Mars signs. These extra details will add quite a bit of depth to your readings!

Question from a Reader: What will my Saturn Return & Saturn Transit to the Tenth House Mean for Me?
HELLO HOW R U?
My name is K from England, I have just discovered this website and was wondering if you would be kind enough to answer my question.
As you know Saturn is moving out of Gemini into Cancer. I have Saturn in Cancer in my tenth house – what does this mean for me over the next few years do you think? I am also approaching my Saturn return, am a Gemini with Libra rising and Virgo moon. (Full birth data supplied).
Thank you very much, I hope you can shed some interesting light on my question.
Goodbye
K
Annie’s Answer:
K,
Saturn is just entering your tenth house, and the planet will continue to transit your tenth for a couple years. This is the first time Saturn will enter your tenth house in your life time, and it often coincides with a career peak. Whatever you started in terms of career direction about 14 years ago is coming to its peak. About 7 years ago, you would have become more public with this “project”, and now is most likely the time when you are reaping the rewards (or consequences) of your career move. If you have planned well, this time symbolizes realization of goals and a certain amount of recognition. If you find yourself frustrated and limited in your career/life standing, it is possible that you will come to a strong realization that the path you have chosen to take has not taken into account your personal goals.
Saturn returns generally bring with them a time when you might question what you are, and what you have become, in a worldly sense. There is generally a desire for something solid in your life. It’s as if you have been living in reaction mode–in a conditioned manner–to date, and there is some kind of freeing from that conditioning at the Saturn return, while at the same time some frustration and feeling of being limited by life. Many people, at the time of their first Saturn return, begin to realize with more clarity their responsibilities as adults and no longer feel like life is filled with boundless opportunities. Many struggle a little at this stage in their lives as they come to a more mature outlook on their “place” in life. The extent of that struggle depends largely on each individual’s personality. Some will feel immensely limited and disillusioned. Others will rather happily settle into their path and welcome the newfound maturity they have gained. Your Saturn return will occur mid-2005.
Taken together, it is quite possible that you will be working hard in your chosen path, and perhaps coming to the conclusion that you need to infuse your goals with what you truly want to do, rather than what you felt you had to do. Saturn’s transit through the 11th will occur shortly after your Saturn return, and this transit will help you come to terms with what you truly want to do and what you want to “be”. If you do in fact encounter some frustrations in the next year, know that this is all part of a growth process–part of your finding yourself, so to speak, and learning how to define your life in a manner that is more true to your inner visions and desires, rather than what you felt you were expected to do.
If you have any further questions, please send me an email. Best to you,
–Annie
Question from a Reader: Can you help clarify some things about compatibility?
I recently started surfing your site, cafeastrology,
and I love it! However I am unsure of how to interpret
the meaning of the compatibility between me and my
partner. I am very interested and have noticed there
are both positive and negative aspects in our
compatibility chart. I’m satisfied in my
relationship, however I am just looking for insights
into the future and our ultimate compatibility. I
read somewhere about a “Cinderella aspect” to do with
Chiron to do with soul mates, and I simply cant tell
if we have such a Cinderella aspect. Will you help???
or at least give some insight on our compatibility.
Thank you sooo much!! (full birth data supplied)
N
Annie’s Answer:
N,
More than likely, you are referring to the Cinderella aspect theory put forth by the Magi Society. It’s a very interesting theory. I’ve looked into it a little, but haven’t researched the theory, and I am no expert on the subject. However, I’ll share with you what I know about it.
Basically, the idea is that people who share a “Cinderella linkage” in their synastry share a strong bond. This linkage, according to the book, Magi Astrology: The Key to Success in Love and Money, is interpreted as “combined destinies” and is considered to be the most powerful linkage and indicator of marriage, amongst other things. The way I understand it, a Cinderella linkage occurs when Venus conjuncts, trines, parallels, contra-parallels, or quincunxes the other person’s Chiron. A similar linkage between Jupiter and Chiron, and Neptune and Chiron is supposed to be very beneficial as well.
You and your boyfriend actually have the Venus-Chiron linkage by the parallel aspect. Parallel and contraparallel aspects are not as popular in synastry Astrology, and they are determined by comparing the declination of each person’s planets. In your case, your Chiron is parallel his Venus. You also have a supportive aspect (trine) between your Jupiter and his Chiron. However, according to the Magi Society theories, you also have a Saturn Clash between your charts: his Chiron is opposite your Saturn and these planets are also in parallel aspect. This is described as a “heartbreak” aspect. Also, your Saturn squares his Venus–another Saturn Clash aspect.
Basically, you have indicators for both a Cinderella linkage and a Saturn Clash. From what I’ve read, the Magi Society suggests that people marry when transiting Chiron is forming an enhancement aspect to your Venus in order to help problematic unions.
I do not use these theories explicitly in my own practice, although they do put forth a convincing case. I haven’t yet warmed up to the whole theory, simply because they put a lot of emphasis on Chiron as an important indicator of bonds between two people. Although I do agree with the idea that Chiron is a very important element in natal and synastry Astrology, I don’t know if I would place more importance on it than other planets and points. Chiron is a slow-moving “planet”, and if, for example, my Venus were trine Chiron natally, many people born in the same year as I would have their Chiron trine my Venus. However, I am intrigued by the whole system, and I think it is an excellent idea to include Chiron in synastry. I do believe that Chiron has a certain “fated” or karmic quality that absolutely deserves attention and further study.
What I see between your charts is an out-of-sign conjunction between his Sun and your Moon, and a wide trine between your Sun and his Moon. Venus and Mars interaspects are strong. What you have is a deep, and usually pleasurable, relationship that will have its fair share of challenges to keep you busy and stimulated!
I just want to point out that we shouldn’t get too carried away with PARTICULAR aspects in synastry, whether they are considered “good” or “bad”. We can use synastry to explore patterns that exist in our relationships, and to try to get to the bottom of troublesome patterns that don’t make much sense otherwise. For example, interaspects between the Sun and Moon and between Venus and Mars are considered excellent aspects in synastry. However, I have personal experience with a relationship that had a trine between the Sun and Moon and a sextile between Venus and Mars–and it didn’t work in the end. Circumstances surrounding the people in a relationship must always be considered. Sometimes relationships that feel great don’t work in the real world, and relationships that are living hell last a lifetime.
In your case, I see such a wonderfully creative energy mix between you and your boyfriend. You have Venus trine Mars in your composite chart, and both planets are in strong aspect to Uranus–very exciting, pleasurable, and creative! Your composite Sun and Mercury are in strong aspect to Jupiter, setting up a relationship that truly gets you both thinking and learning–expanding your horizons and perspectives–through each other. There is a difficult aspect between the Moon and Neptune, and your composite Moon receives no other major aspects. This could mean that, over time, you might find each other not as supportive on an emotional level as you’d like.
I hope I’ve been of some help! Send me an email if you need me to clarify anything.

Question from a Reader: Can my fiancé and I be happy?
I am a Virgo with many right on traits. My fiancé is an Aries with the same Aries traits. We are planning to be married in 2 months, we have a lot in common even though everything I have read says we are incompatible. As a Virgo this concerns me. I love him more deeply than I have ever loved before. We have been together with few problems for 3 years. I guess my question is: Will we get married and can we be happy while being so different in the astrological sense. (Birth data supplied).
Thanks, W
Annie’s Answer:
W,
Comparing the energies of partners goes much deeper than Sun Sign Astrology, i.e. the interaction of your Sun signs (Virgo and Aries) is not the only factor astrologers would consider when analyzing your partnership with your fiancé. If only it were that simple! 🙂
I took a look at both of your charts, and the first thing I noticed is that you have an Aries Ascendant–G’s Sun is found in your first house. This overlay denotes a sort of “in your face” attraction. It’s a lot more pleasant than it sounds! His Sun forms a healthy trine to your Moon in Sagittarius, and this aspect is one of the most touted aspects in the synastry between a man and a woman. It’s an aspect that often keeps people together, even in the face of adversity. It’s no guarantee, however, but it definitely helps by giving a natural rhythm and flow in the relationship. It’s a comfortable aspect that will help smooth the rough spots in your relationship.
G’s Saturn falls dead-on your Sun, which trines your North Node and squares your Moon. This is a powerful aspect — many would say a strong karmic tie. You have lessons to learn from each other and are likely to stay with each other at least long enough to experience them. This aspect can go either way in terms of how it “plays out”. For one, it is an indicator of a long-term, strong bond. It will depend much on how G handles this aspect, as he can either help ground and guide you, or he can make you feel stifled over time.
Your composite chart is very complex. It’s filled with some excellent, creative aspects, and it also has its share of aspects considered “problematic”. Rest assured that every composite chart between couples has its ups and downs. In fact, an “easy” composite chart rarely exists between people who have a strong bond.
The condition of Venus in your chart suggests to me that you have had some difficulties in love in your life–probably more so than most. Your Venus conjunct Neptune (in Libra in the 7th house) tells me that you should do your best to enter any relationship with your eyes wide open. You have a tendency to undervalue your own contribution to a relationship, and to appreciate and accept perhaps more than you should. With this, I don’t mean to say that accepting others is a negative quality, by all means. The problem is that, more often than not, our insecurities work against us in life–especially in one-on-one long-term relationships. You want to see good in others, and this is a very fine trait. It is when we gloss over the negative that we lose perspective and set ourselves up for a big disappointment.
Venus-Neptune people are more inclined than others to make their relationships more than what they are. Truth is, there are no superheroes in the world. You know that your Venus is Neptune-laden when you paint a glorious picture of your mate, embellish or even invent stories about your mate that are in line with your own dreams about love, and give excuses for behavior that doesn’t fit with your ideal. There should be no excuses made for others–they just are exactly what they are. You either like it or hate it, and that’s it! When you refuse to see people, warts and all, then you set yourself up for a fall. Perhaps you have seen this pattern in your life in the past. We can only learn from our past.
I see a powerful relationship between you and G–very strong, quite healthy, and at times challenging. The connections between you are strong enough to last a lifetime, in whatever shape or form. I wish you the best, and I think, with a little work, you will have just that!

Question from a Reader: What is my Ascendant? Hi,
I was surfing through various astrology websites and found that there seems to be two different systems of finding my rising sign (ascendant).
But not only are the times they calculate different, I get different ascendants for each ‘system’! (i.e. Mostly I get Scorpio Rising when I see the 6-8pm birth time, but on the other system I get Libra Rising for the 7-9 pm birth time. This intersection in birth time is odd.)
Even taking into account my country is 8 hours ahead of GMT, the results still do not corroborate!
Now I’m very confused as to which is my true rising sign and to which system is the ‘right’ one.
Please tell me why these systems are different and my true ascendant. I have the feeling it’s Scorpio, but I’m not too sure… (birth data supplied) M.
Annie’s Answer:
M,
One of the beautiful things about the Internet is that you can easily get a professional natal chart drawn. This completely eliminates the confusion that comes from consulting rising sign tables. Of course, the accuracy of one’s time of birth is often still a problem!
Your Ascendant is Libra. The best place to get a free natal chart is Astrodienst. If you think Scorpio makes sense, this might be because both your Moon and Venus are in the 8th house, which is Scorpio’s natural house. Also, Venus is the ruler of your Ascendant, and it is in opposition to Pluto (a planet that rules Scorpio!).

Questions from a Reader: What are some of my talents? What could a long-term career choice be for me?
Hi,
For the past several months I have been in some deep thinking about where I want my life to go and what will ultimately make me feel balanced & happy. Unfortunately I do not know which direction I should head for. I have an intense passion for all kinds of music (can sing, mix music on turntables, and play keyboard), and I also truly enjoy being around & communicating/interacting with all different types of people (mainly in a fun, entertaining environment). I have vivid dreams about one day becoming someone big, in a very positive, worldly way. The thought of living a life of monotony, having a boring 9 to 5 job, etc, is extremely depressing to me and I will do everything in my power to prevent that — and that’s where my question comes in — by looking at all the aspects in my birth chart, what do you think could possibly be a good long-term career choice for me??? I’m currently a manager at a huge movie theatre (and love my job), but I know I can be so much more…..
Looking at my aspects, what do you think are some of my talents (Sun conjunct N.Node? Sun sextile Jupiter & Saturn? Sun loosely trined Uranus?), and what is going to cause uneasy
feelings & drive me to succeed (Mars exactly square Jupiter & Saturn? Moon exactly opposite Uranus?) — i get really confused when analyzing my own chart, trying to “figure out” what all of it could indicate for me….also, some sites list that my Sun is in the 4th/5th house, they say it is “technically at the end of house 4, therefore it’s interpreted in house 5” — so i have the qualities of both houses in my Sun, or what?
Full birth data (date, time, place) supplied.
D
Annie’s Answer:
Hi D,
Your chart is very interesting. It does, in fact, have an extremely exact opposition between Moon and Uranus and similarly tight conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn, which in turn tightly squares Mars. It is unusual to find so many exact aspects in one chart. The square between Mars and Jupiter/Saturn falls right behind angles, so if anything is “holding you back”, I would look to that aspect. This aspect can propel you to tread where others fear, but if you find yourself repeatedly facing timing problems and what seems to be “bad luck”, you can safely pinpoint this aspect as a possible conflict.
Jupiter conjunct Saturn, taken out of the context of your chart, can suggest a practical person who is perhaps a little bit too tied up with what should and shouldn’t be (or what is wrong and what is right), but who possesses excellent judgment. Such a person isn’t too optimistic or too cautious. Jupiter, the planet of optimism and growth, is tempered by Saturn, the planet of caution and restriction–and vice versa. Taken in the context of your chart, however, we can safely predict that this balance is not always in place, simply because of the tight square from Mars. This, to me, suggests an ongoing, inner conflict between faith (Jupiter) and fear (Saturn). Your grand visions and dreams (Mars square Jupiter) might always end up feeling too weighty with the presence of Saturn here. You may agonize over what you should and shouldn’t do; and your bouts of optimism and faith might be undermined by a persistent insecurity and fear of success (Saturn). Your Sun sextiles the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction, and is probably the “key” or the creative solution to the conflict found in the square.
As you seem to know, squares have the power to fuel us. Too many squares, and you can end up banging your head against the wall much of your life. No squares, and you back out of life too easily without fighting for anything. Without oppositions, we aren’t able to successfully put ourselves in others’ shoes, while too many of them can make us impossibly indecisive. Even when it comes to trines and sextiles–our talents–life experience tells us that sometimes our talents work against us, and our “failings” work for us. One example that comes to mind is a person who has academic brains who is seen by others as “a brain”. Perhaps too much or too little is expected of him/her as a result. On the other hand, a person who has had it “easy” their whole life may not be as favorably received as one who has tried, failed, and is trying again. Your chart has a nice mix of aspects, perhaps a little heavy on the squares. You have the creativity and the drive to succeed in life. Remember that you might be harder on yourself than necessary. When you feel like you are not succeeding or being “all that you can be”, others might think completely differently! North Node in the fourth house often brings with it a lot of pressures on yourself to be and do more. Your expectations from yourself may be set unnecessarily high–others might see you as a success story while you remain unsatisfied.
Also, the Mars square to Jupiter/Saturn is likely to give you tremendous drive. You might find that, for some reason, you gravitate toward life situations that challenge your strength. You might have a love-hate relationship with competition, and find yourself plunk in the middle of competitive challenges more than most. This is because your fear of competition is almost equal to your drive to compete!
There is so much to say about your chart, and so little space to say it in. You have an Aries Ascendant with its ruler, Mars, in Cancer in the 3rd house, just behind the 4th house angle. Mars is also sextile Venus. You are an excellent communicator, perhaps a little moody (square to Jupiter-Saturn), but really quite charming and stimulating. Your Moon in Taurus is conjunct Chiron and tightly opposite Uranus. This configuration gives you excellent perception–a natural understanding of why people are as they are, and a strong ability to help and heal others. Moon-Chiron is a teacher/healer aspect in a nurturing/emotional sense. Wherever Chiron is in the chart, there is often increased–even acute–perception and understanding; but the downside is that although the native has good intentions for others, they often feel wounded. (Like Chiron, the master healer who could not heal himself).
The opposition of your Moon to Uranus will play out at some points in your life more than in others. You can be rebellious and I will tell you now that you are absolutely correct that you would not thrive in a life of routine. Your creative energy comes in spurts, and it would be very hard to harness that energy on demand. Some days it will come at one o’clock in the afternoon, other days it will peak at 4 AM. Finding a job that allows you freedom of movement and some creative leeway will be ideal.
Moon in Taurus in the 2nd house, and opposite Uranus: I would say this suggests a stronger than average attachment to possessions and security, which will be challenged in your lifetime. More than likely, your finances will fluctuate more than most until you understand yourself more on a spiritual level. Part of you needs to be rich, while the other part rebels against that whole concept. The Moon rules your 4th house of roots, suggesting a break from the past and a need to redefine your adult life by placing your own personal stamp on it.
I do consider your Sun in Leo in the 5th house. It is behind the fifth house, but Leo is on the cusp of the 5th, and Leo’s ruler is the Sun–and that sits conjunct your 5th! And, Sun in the fifth is a natural-born entertainer. Not everyone with this position is bold enough or gets the opportunity to realize this, but there’s a big talent right there. And Sun conjuncts the North Node, which suggests a large need for some kind of limelight. You are a natural leader and you will often be used as a guiding example in life. Others naturally turn to you for guidance, and you have a talent for “networking”. Whatever you do, you do well, and you often feel a sense of destiny in your life. Just be careful to enjoy life in the meanwhile!
Also, the trine between your Sun and Uranus is stronger than it appears at first glance. This is because Mercury also loosely trines Uranus in the other direction–the midpoint of Sun and Mercury trines Uranus more exactly. You are naturally unique and original — others will notice your entirely unique perspective more than you notice it. I think of these trines as “people” talent. You easily accept and enjoy people from all walks of life. Your ability to work hard will certainly get you places. I could easily see you working out of the home part of the time (Mercury, ruler of 6th, in the 4th), but not in a reclusive sense. I do think your position of manager suits you very well. If you want more than that, of course, go for it. You are extremely creative!

Question from a Reader: Why am I so inconsistent in work and in love?
Hi,
First off, I would like to thank you. My question is pretty simple. I
would like to know why I seem so inconsistent in work and love. I was in love
once, but it seems I am only attracted to men that I cannot completely have,
and if they jumble up my emotions and keep me guessing, even better. Problem
is that state is not healthy for me, perhaps because I think my feelings take
me over sometimes and I fear it. I have always “felt” different from most
people. Also, could you tell me what my natural talents might be, I am
currently in college and my interests are Psychology and criminal law, but
have not been able to completely focus and decide what I want to do with my
life. (Full birth data supplied). I am a female. Thanks again.
C
Annie’s Answer:
Dear C,
You have plenty of the elements of Earth and Water in your chart, giving you a personality that is both practical and emotional. You “feel out” your environment and rely on your senses when you take in the world around you. However, your Sun in watery Scorpio is conjunct Uranus. Although you have perhaps greater than average needs for security and practical realization of your goals, the Sun-Uranus energy presents an inner desire nature that seems to contradict this. Its urge is to break down the very patterns you want for stability and security; and to break open new paths and growth opportunities. This energy bestows you with many original and unique ideas, but you may lack the right focus to put these ideas into practical use. The inconsistency you mention is likely due to this aspect. Something within you rebels against convention. This is a restless aspect, for you want to do more than you are able to. Your mind never entirely rests–too many ideas and insights may lead you to feel a lack of direction in your life.
Sun-Uranus conjunctions can also give people a love-hate relationship with being different or “odd”. On the one hand, there is a strong need to be special and unique. You don’t want to be pinned down or labeled. Other times, feeling like an outsider is painful. At any rate, Sun-Uranus people are especially sensitive to their identity as an individual. When challenged, they will defend themselves wholeheartedly, even if the division causes them to feel alienated even further. It is a defensive and often stubborn position, and probably the greatest difficulty with this aspect is losing touch with the self–what one truly wants and is–because of this inner need to be contrary. You have a strong Venus (in Capricorn in the 7th house, and trine Moon and Mars) which means that, in general, you do compromise and cooperate. But Sun-Uranus is a bit of a paradox. You are frightened of being changed by others, yet you change your own mind frequently enough to be baffle those you are close to. As a result, it can be difficult to follow any one path in life. The key to dealing with this is to accept your need to be different, but to follow your heart at the same time.
In terms of your talents, you possess extraordinary intuition. Your Sun opposite Chiron suggests a talent for counseling others–you are likely far more adept at helping others than you are helping yourself! This latter issue can get better over time, and the key is self-acceptance and ridding yourself of the fear of being thwarted by others. Lowering your defenses will do wonders for you. Your Venus trine Moon and Mars in earth signs gives you personal charisma, although your Venus square Saturn might not let you truly “know” this. (In fact, this last aspect often is the root of the problem of wanting people we can’t have — read the question/answer directly below this one for more information on Venus in hard aspect to Saturn). Psychology and criminal law are both, in fact, excellent fields for you. Whatever you decide to do, you will breathe new life into the field. It is probably wise to choose a career that gives you the freedom to do your own thing, at least some of the time. You won’t feel comfortable with anyone breathing down your neck. Security is very important to you as well, so the best choice would be a well-established and secure career path that also gives you some breathing room. You will need to express your creativity in some way, and a job that stifles your creativity (a monotonous job, for example) will never satisfy you. You need some sense of movement, but your nerves may not be able to handle an entirely entrepreneurial position.

Question from a Reader: Will I ever get the kind of love I am looking for?
Will I ever get the kind of love I am looking for in life? (Full birth data supplied). I am married and loyal, but it seems all my life, those I loved, did not return my love the way I felt it should be, or those I didn’t love, loved me. Thanks for any help.
Annie’s Answer:
Hi,
You have Venus in opposition to Saturn, right across the Asc-Dsc axis. This can make you especially sensitive to “cues” that suggest you are not loved or rejected in some way. People with Venus-Saturn in hard aspect can often “expect” rejection in issues of love and care, whether they are conscious of this tendency or not. This can often lead to negative situations in love — and bad timing or the feeling of having “bad luck” in relationships.
The key to handling this aspect is to learn to loosen up and relax. Know that you may be oversensitive to rejection — and try to gain some perspective when you feel your love is not being returned to your satisfaction. Are you truly letting love in, or is there a part of you that is scared? Could your expectations and “heaviness” in the area of relationships (you might take love more seriously than most) be getting in the way of accepting love and affection? With Saturn rising, you may feel a little “stiff” around others, you may downplay your physical appearance and feel too self-conscious to truly relax and loosen up around people you care about. You have identified a pattern in your life, and that is the first step towards fulfillment. The next step is to get to the root of the problem. You may have deep-seated feelings of being unworthy of love, even if you are able to rationalize and decide otherwise!
While Venus receives hard aspects from both Saturn and Uranus, your Moon in Scorpio forms a nice trine to Venus and sextile to Saturn. It also trines your Mars in Pisces. You are able to care for and nurture others in wonderful ways. You are intuitive and naturally attractive to others. If you can truly feel and know this, you may find you can handle your problem. You are emotional and warm underneath your more studied image to others. Saturn aspects get easier with age! You are here to learn about love and relationship, and you are capable of gaining plenty of wisdom from your experiences. You are not a risk taker when it comes to relationship, although you have plenty of original and even brilliant talents and might feel more confident in other areas of your life. Understand that you are picking up on signals that may not be there, simply because you have a seriousness about relationships and love. Let me know if you have any more questions!

Question from a Reader: Why do I feel heaviness?
Hello Annie and Adam,
I am very happy to have found your site. You seem to really like helping people and enjoying talking about astrology.
I have two burning questions for you. I have read some books but as a layperson, I can’t answer them.
1. My chart seems to be ‘good’, no squares and a few sextiles, but I do not consider myself a ‘light’, ‘happy’ person. In fact, even as a child I have this sense of heaviness on my shoulders. Is there something related to Saturn in my 12th House or Neptune in my 8th House? My sun sign is Scorpio and I have Aries as ascendant, but I always withdrawn from leadership and… I am a teacher. My friends usually say I am sweet and passive .
2. I married twice: marriages started and ended fast. Both husbands were wonderful people and I do believe we tried our best. Could you tell me something about my relationship tendency and also about the nodes? I have the North Node in Aries and the South in Libra. I do believe in karma and I want to know what ‘lesson’ people with these characteristics need to learn…
I really hope you could answer these burning questions. They have been haunting me in the last months, especially after my second marriage ended.
One million thanks,
(Full birth data supplied)
J
Annie’s Answer:
Hi J,
When considering your basic make-up and disposition, I would look at the fact that your Scorpio Sun conjuncts Neptune in the 8th house, which certainly would soften the entire personality! Also, Aries rising people are not necessarily aggressive folk, even though they are usually rather direct and sometimes impatient and impulsive. Also, look to the ruler of your Ascendant — its importance should never be underestimated, in my opinion! It is Mars in Capricorn. You have an earthy moon (Moon in Taurus) that forms a soft trine to Jupiter in Virgo. To sum up, I would say you have a strong personality with plenty of gentle/soft corners. As far as heaviness and responsibility goes, my first instinct would be to turn to Saturn. People with Saturn in the 12th house can carry a lot of “heaviness”. But your Mars in Capricorn is important as well. Capricorn is a Saturn-ruled sign, and your Mars not only rules your Ascendant, it is also the most elevated planet in your chart.
Your North Node is in Aries in the first house. The specific lesson associated with this position is to learn to depend on yourself. The tendency with this position is to only feel complete with a special partner. This often means marriage, but can extend to partnerships, such as one very good friend. The lesson here is that you will only find satisfaction in your relationships when you have learned to depend on yourself. It is easy for people with the South Node in the 7th house to make compromises in their partnerships. While some compromise is always good and necessary, the compromises can be at the risk of losing your own identity. Learning to know and love yourself — and to absolutely honor who you are — is the only path to true happiness in partnership. Avoid adjusting too much to others, get to know exactly who you are and what you need, and then honor yourself and your needs: this is the lesson of this nodal position.
Libra is on the cusp of the 7th house in your chart, and Mercury is found in that house. You need free and easy communication in your relationships in order to feel loved, appreciated, and alive. Venus, the ruler of your 7th, is in Libra in the sixth and it opposes Saturn. You may meet your partners through your work, or work closely with them. But this position also indicates a deeper feeling of loneliness and even unworthiness that you may not acknowledge. If you don’t address this, you might attract people or situations that only serve to make you more insecure. There are many indicators of a strong sense of commitment and responsibility in your chart. Problems only occur when you take that too far and don’t take the time to get perspective on what you should hold yourself responsible for! Your Moon trine Jupiter suggests a giving and accepting personality.
I hope this mini-reading is of help to you. If you have any more questions, or want me to explain any of the above, let me know.

Question from a Reader: Are we compatible?
Hello,
Me: (birth details provided) Libra/Scorpio cusp
Him: (birth details, time unknown, supplied)
Are we compatible in a both a marital/sexual relationship?
Thanks!
Annie’s Answer:
Hi,
First things first, you are a late Libra and he is an early Pisces (even if he were born one minute into the day, with the place of birth you supplied, he would still be a Pisces). Your Sun positions are in a pleasing trine. Overlaying his planetary positions onto your chart, and I see that his Venus conjunct Mars in Aries falls at the top of your chart, in the 9th just behind your Midheaven. His Venus “turns” your natal Moon trine Pluto into a grand trine. This suggests a high level of pleasing attraction. Now, your Saturn opposes his Venus as well, and his Saturn sits hand-in-hand with your Sun. These aspects suggest some heavy ties that may not always be pleasant, but that can be quite binding.
Looking at his positions, he seems like a quiet person overall with rather powerful emotions and quite a bit of impatience when it comes to getting what he wants in love. I don’t have his birth time, so it is impossible to put his planets into “context”. However, his Venus and Mars in Aries are square Uranus and opposite Neptune. His behavior may baffle you. Although he probably appears quite solid overall (Taurus Moon), there may be some erratic behavior in love that can confuse you. He may come on strong, and then drift away, and then start the cycle all over again.
You are a rather solid, relationship-oriented person who is looking for security, but you have a great sense of fun and you are rather open to new ideas and new ways of doing things. He seems to have that mix of solidness and excitement that you are looking for. Your composite chart together is a little scattered, but it shows some promising aspects. You have great potential to grow together. You are likely able to share sexual fantasies with each other, perhaps more easily than you would with others, especially at the beginning of your relationship. Try to keep this alive, because your composite Mars trine Saturn can perhaps make it a little too easy to get into routines in this department–and neither of you would be too happy with that. There will be a lot of energy to expend when you are working as a couple — try to direct this into productive things. Being idle together might not work as well (energy can be converted into arguments). Please don’t hesitate to send me any questions you might have about this mini-reading, and good luck!

Question from a Reader: I am drawn to a spiritual path but don’t have a direction.
Hello Annie!
I would appreciate your interpretation of my natal chart regarding my career options. I am a
qualified Accountant (which I enjoy), but I feel drawn to a more ‘spiritual’ path. But I don’t have a direction to follow. (Birth day, time, and place supplied).
Regards, J
Annie’s Answer:
J,
The first thing I noticed about your chart is that it has all the major aspects in a rather balanced proportion. This suggests that you have a nice combination of talents, drive, insight, and so on; and it gives me the sense that you can truly do what you want. However, your lack of direction is the issue.
You have three planets in the 12th house, and I would imagine that these contribute much to your desire for spiritual expression. Your Sun in Sagittarius is conjunct the Ascendant, but hiding behind it. This is a powerful position! You have a strong desire to express your will and creativity, yet something holds you back. It may be shyness or fear. Part of you is uncomfortable putting yourself on display, so to speak. In your chart, the Sun rules the 9th house and Jupiter is forming an almost exact conjunction to your Midheaven. These positions suggest to me that you must teach and guide others in some fashion! You have something to share with the world and I am guessing that you at the very least have a vague feeling or urge to go that route.
I think your chart reveals much of your current struggle. Your Moon in the 6th house of work rules your 8th house — this very much describes your current profession. The 8th house rules, amongst other things, other people’s money. So this position suggests accounting as a workable job for you. However, that same Moon squares your Midheaven, and the Midheaven rules one’s higher calling.
Your Mercury in a fire sign in the 12th house means that you listen and learn on an intuitive, feeling level. Your intellectual feelers are strong–you absorb a lot from your environment and you might sometimes feel overwhelmed by all that you take in. You will benefit from some mental training of sorts–learning to sort out some of the more negative things you pick up from others. Your Moon is in the earthy sign of Taurus and it is found in the 6th house. Even though you may not always act in a materialistic manner, you have an inner voice that always reminds you of practical concerns. You need stability, and whatever you do ultimately ends up producing concrete results. You bring your emotions into the work you do–you might find that your moods are changeable when it comes to daily routines and getting the job done. The possible problem that I can see is that your Moon in Taurus in the 6th almost requires a steady, stable job. This is essential for your sense of security. Your 6th and 12th house emphasis show a need to be in service to others. My best advice is to try to combine the practical with a more spiritual position. Even if this is teaching others or counseling, these lines would come naturally to you and will help you express more of yourself in the work you do. You have wells of intuition and psychic ability to draw upon–water signs are found on the 4th, 8th, and 12th houses of your chart, which means that your base instincts are powerful and you have enormous potential to heal others. Translating these talents to a career will perhaps happen more easily for you than for many others. Your chart ruler is Jupiter and it is found at the very top of your chart–conjunct the Midheaven. Self-expression will ultimately find a voice, and helping others by sharing your knowledge is a path I can see as most fulfilling and rewarding. You have loads of integrity–that is very clear in your chart. Pluto will be transiting conjunct your 12th house Sun starting in March 2004 (but its effects should be felt earlier, and perhaps already) and, later, your Ascendant. These transits will awaken those dormant desires for growth and expression. Neptune has been transiting conjunct your Mars, perhaps bringing with it some spiritual regeneration and realignment. However, Neptune’s actions can be very confusing at first (contributing to your feelings of lack of direction), so my guess is that Pluto will bring about change in a more overt fashion.
I hope this mini-reading has been helpful. Let me know if these answers to your question have brought up more questions!

Question from a Reader: What is the potential of my relationship?
Thank you for doing a reading for me. (Birth day, time, and place supplied) I am wondering about the potential of a new relationship with a man (birth day and place supplied). We have made a very strong connection on many levels, and I struggle with the age difference, even though it “feels right”. I have been on my own as a single parent for over 4 years, and really feel ready to have some love and some fun in my life.
Thanks again,
R
Adam’s Answer:
R,
Doug and you share a basic compatibility with both your Mars in Cancer. Both of you are likely to enjoy spending time together in a home setting. Sometimes, you may be a bit more social than him, and rational or intellectual to his emotional. Your Gemini Sun is in the third house which implies you interact with ease with people in day-to-day life. You have a rounded personality with a Sun trine Moon. With a Sun square Ascendant you might have found it difficult to work with people. With time, you should be able to conquer this square. Let me know if you want me to address this further.
You have both Mars and Mercury in the fourth house, and both North Node and Chiron in the tenth. As a mother, you will be more involved than most in parenting. The intellectual development of your kids will likely interest you a lot. While playing the father figure in your role as single parent, you are likely to have a healing touch. Saturn is transiting your third house and Jupiter your sixth. This suggests that at work you probably feel stressed and caught up in details. You will do yourself a lot of good for later if you use this period to learn at the job. If you want details about these issues, just ask! Since your question was about your relationship with Doug Ill talk about that some more.
Doug has a stellium in Cancer involving Sun, Moon, Mars, and Mercury. His Moon trines Neptune . This aspect makes him creative, imaginative, and sensitive to people in general. Does he come across as poetic sometimes? He is also a home-body, meaning that he enjoys spending time in a home setting, and values home and family. He has a basic need for security at home. He has a Venus in Leo, which makes him instinctive, giving, yet proud in love. He has a Sun square Uranus, which might prompt him to seek out working with new technology, and which adds to his creativity. Dougs need for security ties in very well with your own 10th-4th Node needs. You have a Pisces Ascendant (and Pisces is Neptune ruled). Doug, with his Moon trine Neptune , is likely to find you attractive. If you want to know more about Doug, please send me his birth time!
Dougs Saturn is conjunct your Venus, and you have Saturn opposing your own Venus. While you are with him, you might find it difficult to express the warmth and love you really feel. Do you? At the same time, these aspects might translate to a long lasting relationship. Dougs Uranus is conjunct your Moon. He probably brings out the fun loving, freedom loving side of you. You have Uranus and Jupiter in the fifth house, which is the house of play and self-expression. This is probably where your need for some fun and love in your life comes from. You might be a bit quirky in how you get these because of the influence of Uranus. A relationship with a younger man fits you! I wouldnt worry about the age difference at all. Its your way of expressing yourself to the world at large. You are unique and deserve to express yourself in your own way!

Question from a Reader: In need of some guidance.
Annie and Adam,
I’ve been an avid reader of your site as a reference for my personal astrology studies for a while now. I’ve done my own chart (birth day, time, and place supplied) and have come across with some interesting aspects, such as Sun trine Moon, conjuncts with Sun, Venus, and Mars, and Moon conjunct Jupiter and Saturn, as well as a notable lack of squares. However, I am pretty unhappy, as I am not sure which direction to go in life right now, with my work, friends, family, or finding someone. I have a lot of family problems in that it pretty much irks me to be around them and I have done everything in my power to be anything but like them, with good results I might add. In relationships, I am seemingly unsatisfiable, I am quick to point out weakness in others and it turns me off even quicker. With friends, I devote a lot of my time and energy, making sure they are happy, giving them (good advice), and when no one else will, I’ll be the one to tell them what they need to hear, even if it hurts. I am usually very appreciated at work; a hard worker and a faster learner.
I’m constantly told by my friends how unique I am, and while I see it and do enjoy the compliment, it also kind of makes me feel alienated from the rest of society in a way… which does make it kind of difficult when looking for a mate. And I guess I haven’t yet found how to use that uniqueness to its fullest advantage yet. I guess the characteristic that I notice most overall is my ability to change (which is funny for a Taurus). I can change cities, friends (well not all of them), and almost personality at a moment’s notice.. in fact sometimes I feel this burning urge to. I am wondering if that has anything to do with the placement of planets within my 8th House.
Basically I am just looking for a little guidance. I give it out so much but I seem to have this inability to give it to myself. My main question is what would work best with me as far as a profession? I currently do phone-based help desk work, and while I’m good at it, it isn’t fulfilling (nor lucrative:) enough for me. What should I be looking for in a person, either in their personality or in their chart that would really go well with me? I seem to have an attraction to Fixed signs, my last relationship being with a Leo.
Any information would be greatly appreciated as I seem to be at a roadblock right now with everything and an opinion on this other than my own would be wonderful.
Thanks so much!!
B
Annie’s Answer:
Dear B,
It’s true that if you look at your signs, your need for change is not immediately apparent in your chart. You have a Taurus Sun and Capricorn Ascendant, and your Moon conjuncts Saturn — these suggest a need for security and stability. But did you notice that your Sun and Venus are opposite Uranus? Also, as you mentioned, your Moon/Jupiter/Saturn stellium is found in the eighth house, a house that demands deep and transforming changes. Since this stellium is so close to the cusp of the ninth house, I would read it as a ninth house influence as well. The ninth house is a house of movement–physical movement as in travel, and intellectual growth as well.
The Uranus opposition to your Sun and Venus cannot be ignored. Nor should the fact that Venus, the ruler of both your Sun and Moon signs, is in the restless sign of Gemini. The Uranian influence in your chart can reveal itself in a variety of ways. There can be a deep urge to break free from tradition and from family conditioning. It can show up as a rebellious streak. Because it is an opposition, when you are expressing these traits, something may not feel right. It may go against some of your personal values and your sense of identity.
You also have South Node in Aquarius in the first house. This suggests a tendency to alienate partners–perhaps you are trying too hard to be an individual, and you come across as self-centered. Rebellion is healthy to a degree, but it can bring you further from yourself. When we rebel we can begin to forget what we truly want, because we are living life in reaction mode.
Your chart shows some potential resolutions to your inner conflicts. For one, working on developing your North Node qualities will help you find direction. Your North Node is in the seventh house–therefore, actively developing your skills of cooperation and personal attention to important people in your life will do wonders for your sense of fulfillment with life. A tendency to fall back on friends and groups, rather than developing your one-to-one personal relationships, can be your downfall. For another, you have a very pleasant trine from your Sun and Venus to the Moon/Jupiter/Saturn stellium. This stellium also sextiles Uranus. So, relief from the tension of the Uranus opposition can come from this Moon stellium in Libra. I see a common ground with these two “solutions” — Libra! Your North Node is in the seventh house (Libra’s house), and your trines and sextiles to your opposition are coming from planets in Libra. My advice, therefore, is to work on your Libra qualities. Actively cultivate your ability to put yourself into others’ shoes, express your ability to cooperate and compromise, give your potential and future partner personal attention rather than falling back on casual friends, acquaintances, and groups for support. Most of all, do not be afraid to show your true and unique colors! South Node in Leo people can sometimes feel very vulnerable when they are with a committed partner, finding it more comfortable to be with casual friends and groups.
I looked at the composite chart of your relationship with the Leo woman. There are certainly some satisfying points, but a troublesome configuration is present. Sun square Moon and opposite Neptune in a composite chart can suggest that one or both of the partners “fades away”. Perhaps there wasn’t a clear-cut break? As far as potential partners goes, you may attract partners with strong Cancer or Leo in their charts. These two signs are found in your seventh house of partnerships, and Leo is the sign of your North Node. It is very difficult, however, to give you a formula for a potential partner.
Your Moon/Jupiter/Saturn stellium squares Neptune in the 12th house. You may have strong intuitions, seemingly coming from out of the blue, and powerful dreams. It may be difficult for you to concentrate sometimes. You may also be plagued by vague doubts and worries.
Your trines are wonderful, indeed. These will help you in your career, when you do find your calling. Have you looked at transits? Jupiter will sextile natal Pluto, the ruler of your 10th house of career, in July 2003, perhaps bringing with it some opportunities for growth and movement in your job. The ruler of your sixth house is Mercury, found in Gemini in the fifth house. A job in the communications industry, therefore, makes sense; however, its placement in the fifth house suggests you will need to express creativity in the job you do. Mercury is supported by the Moon, Jupiter, and Saturn– this reinforces the fact that you learn things easily and work quite solidly. Your Saturn transit cycle suggests that you are on your way up, but have a while to go. Saturn is solidly in your sixth house right now. It is a time of perhaps feeling overwhelmed with the “little things” you must do for your work. It is a preparation stage–when you are immersed in it, you may feel like you are not getting the recognition you’d like. But you are getting ready for a period of more exposure and recognition, beginning when Saturn moves into your seventh house (in Fall 2003).
Let me know if you have any questions about this mini-reading. I hope you found it helpful!

Question from a Reader: Can you help?
Hi my name is Jaime and I need your help. The problem is that I feel a spiritual bond with Marques Houston of the band IMX. I have been feeling this bond for a long time. Out of the sky blue I feel like a presence and think that he is talking to me. I always wondered who my soulmate is. I mean his group’s music and/or his little brother’s group (b2k) music will come on and/or they would be on television. I also feel like he is trying to contact me through his videos, music, and appearances on television. The video “Beautiful” that IMX did I think that Marques is looking directly at me and my soul. It is like he is trying to tell me something and I just don’t know what he is saying. I look at all the females (young and old) chasing behind him and I am always shy and think that I am ugly looking (not his type). On one of his appearances he was asked what he wanted for his birthday had his head down for a awhile and then lifted his head back up with a smile. It felt like he was talking to me spiritual and I want to know if we are soulmates. I was wondering if you could tell me if we were soulmates and if not who is my soulmate? I feel weird and I go to the chatrooms for b2k and Imx and I see these posts saying that they were dating all of them personally. They also say that they have girlfriends and talk about whether they do or not and how the girl looks and if she is a hoe or not. (Birth day and place supplied). His birthday is August 4, 1981 and I think he was born in Los Angeles , Ca. Please give me the full synopsis because people (other astrologers) only give a little and then want you to pay them a big amount of money. Thanks.
Adam’s Answer:
Jaime,
You are a creative and gifted person. You have a sweet disposition and tend to empathize with friends and loved ones easily. I don’t have your birth time, so it’s difficult for me to give you all the details. From your birth day data, I constructed what we call a noon chart. That is, I assumed your birth time as noon for that particular day.
Your noon chart reveals that you likely have a Capricorn Sun square Saturn. Both your Moon and Venus are in Sagittarius. Both Moon and Venus are likely conjunct Neptune. Your situation brings to mind the intriguing relationship between Saturn and Neptune. Saturn represents the real world with all its limitations. It governs the physical world and reality as we know it. Neptune is associated with all aspects of the universe that are not clearly defined, illusory, delusory, mystical, and even imaginary. You need Saturn influences to live in the real world and function as a responsible citizen. On the other hand, you need Neptune to explain life itself. Another way to understand the influence of Saturn and Neptune is to consider a musician like Marques Houston himself. He needs Saturn influences in his chart to be successful, famous, make money, and put in the hard work that goes behind success. Simultaneously, he needs Neptunian energies to be creative and make music!
Now, lets consider the influences of Neptune and Saturn in your chart. Your Capricorn Sun is Saturn ruled, and as I said earlier, squares Saturn. You need to embrace your Sun and Saturn. This will help you face the realities of every day life and gain a real perspective on all aspects of your life. You have strong Neptunian influences on both your Venus and Moon. Venus rules relationships of warmth and love. This might, in a love relationship, make you project energies on the object of your love, that don’t exist. I mean, you may end up imagining things about Marques Houston that are simply not true. The Moon rules your emotions. Neptune conjunct your Moon means you are emotionally creative and naturally empathetic to other peoples feelings. The downside is that you naturally absorb the good and the bad from people around you. Watch out for this. You need to center yourself first. And, how do you do that? Embrace your Sun and Saturn. Get grounded; make something of your life. Only then will you be in a position to use your Neptunian gifts to truly understand love, relationships, and the world around you in a unique and enriching way!

Question from a Reader: Could you shed some light on my relationship?
Could you shed some light on a relationship between myself – female Capricorn (birth day, time, and place supplied) and a Libra male (birth day and place supplied). Do we seem very compatible? We have been dating for about a year and 1/2 and seem to get along well – it is a long distance relationship (about 4 hours driving time), but we generally see each other every weekend. I am curious, though, his emotional nature seems very stifled and repressed and I often feel that I am actually the more spontaneous of both of us. This surprises me because of all of my heavy Capricorn influence. He is very easy-going and laid-back, but never seems to have much spontaneous enthusiasm to him or display his feelings. Are these differences shown in our charts and can they actually complement each other in the long run? Any info would be appreciated — thanks!
Adam’s Answer:
Hi there,
Cappy, you have a rather unusual natal chart with Capricorn Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Mars in the eleventh house, and Capricorn Moon in the tenth. This suggests that you love being amongst friends and sharing your ideals and desires with them. You relate to people well and an ideal career would be in that area.
Your Libra man has Mars in Cancer. Since we don’t have his birth time data, I did a noon chart, which reveals Moon in Capricorn. However, the Moon goes into Aquarius in the afternoon. Similar Capricorn Moons would suggest a basic emotional compatibility between the two of you. If he was born in the morning then he is likely to have a Sun trine Moon, which suggests a rounded person. He would come across as easy-going and laid-back. But, at the same time, he would have a Sun square Mars, thus prone to anger attacks during unexpected downturns.
You are right about his emotional nature appearing stifled and repressed. His Saturn happens to be close to his Moon. Again, I cant tell you the exact aspect or orb as we don’t have his birth time. Saturn would have a dampening effect on his emotions. He would lack spontaneity for sure in displaying his feelings. He would need more in life to feel secure than others. This is not a bad thing if you understand that as his style. Be aware though that his Saturn is probably close to your Sun, Mars and Moon. This could mean that he dampens your style in multiple ways. For example, his Saturn on your Mars could make you feel restricted in the physical part of your relationship. Conversely your Saturn in very early Aquarius is likely very close to his late Capricorn-early Aquarius Moon. That would mean you restrict him expressing his feelings freely.
Saturn aspects can be restricting but at the same time may indicate a long lasting relationship. I say, find out his birth time data and we can do a better analysis of where the two of you are headed!

Question from a Reader: What Does an Empty 5th House Mean?
Hi, I’m “I”. I am very fond of your website ‘cafeastrology’.
I’m worried because in my natal chart the 5th house is empty!!! I’m 34 years old, no fiancee… and no kids. It’s a matter of age, you see…
(Birth day, time, and place supplied)
At present I live in Bucharest.
Could you help me by professionally interpreting this (non)aspect in my birthchart?
Thank you so much for reading me!
Annie’s Answer:
Dear I,
First off, I want to impress upon you that having an unoccupied fifth house does not mean that you won’t ever have children. There are only 10 planets and luminaries, and 12 houses to fill. People who have children (even multiple children) can have an unoccupied fifth house. Likewise, individuals with one or more planets in the fifth can go through life never having had kids.
Even so, it can be difficult to determine whether or not a person will have children by looking at their chart. There have been some theories on this subject, but I haven’t yet stumbled upon anything conclusive. Some astrologers will look to the sign on the fifth house, as well as the sign of the fifth house ruler, for “fruitfulness” (or fertility). In your case, Gemini is on your fifth house cusp (you gave me a time range, and this is true for any time within that range). The ruling planet is Mercury, found in Aquarius near your Ascendant. Both signs are air signs, which are not considered to be as fruitful as, for example, water signs. However, this does NOT mean that you will not have children. Your Moon is in the fruitful sign of Cancer.
What I can say is that, since the ruler of your fifth is found near your Ascendant, if you do have children, you are likely to identify very strongly with them and with motherhood. The air signs connected with your fifth house suggest that you will focus on giving your child or children a strong intellectual upbringing. Mercury is sextile Saturn and trine Uranus, suggesting you will be able to combine solid, stable parenting with unique (and new-age) styles of nurturing. You were born under a Full Moon which means you may be somewhat temperamental, in general. You may vacillate from being strong and willful to wanting care and support from others. Others don’t always understand you as a result! Your Moon trine Neptune and sextile Pluto, however, reveals you are a person with a naturally nurturing and accepting character–one who instinctively understands loved ones. Your capacity to nurture and love is exceptionally high. You have been going through a Pluto transit conjunct your natal Venus — a time when relationships, and attitudes toward love, will have been changing and transforming, and when you may have been particularly focused on love (possibly to the point of obsession). Did you go through a break-up in the past year, or was it a time of intense unrest in the area of love? Let me know.
